Here you have the opinions of real people who use the products of VCA Willowdale Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) in North York (Canada).
Now the firm receives a score of 2.9 over 5 and that score is based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is average, neither too high nor too low, and it is founded on a very large number of reviews, so we may be quite sure that the score is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Veterinarian is included in the category of Animal hospital.
Our visit to this vet was around 2 years ago and a visit to a different vet in the area has prompted this review. It's incredibly expensive (twice the price of our new practice on Sheppard East), we were left waiting in a room for an hour after our appointment time. They claim to specialise in pets with behaviour issues but our vet kept unnecessarily touching our cat even though we told her he's aggressive and afraid and asked her not to. He got very upset and agitated. She also seemed nonchalant and not caring. This place is 24 hours, unless it's an emergency, I wouldn't recommend it.
As a new pet owner, I wish I had known better than to bring my dog to this clinic. The costs were exorbitant, and my dog is healthy. Also, not only were the wait times long, but I got tired of the sales pitch that added 20 minutes to each appointment. The vet kept trying to sell me food that my dog had already had a bad reaction to (and which he should have had on file). On my last (and final) trip to this clinic, I declined the million items, medicines and foods “recommended” ---and the vet proceeded to treat me to a first class guilt trip. It was the final straw and I changed clinics. At the new clinic I get top notch care, the prices are a third of the costs, wait time is 5 minutes, and visits are to the point. The Willowdale clinic is about the bottom line--no empathy or moral compass to be found. Dr. Bloom was the worst. I wish I could have back all the time and money wasted on him.
My regular vet forgot to provide me with eye lubricant for my chihuahua after surgery. After several calls around the city at 845 pm, WAH was able to help. Staff member who helped me was super friendly. Thank you!!
Dr Hung saved our cats eye and probably her life. Luna fell from the balcony 4 stories down and we rushed her for emergency care at Willowdale that was recommend by our regular vet. Dr Hung took her in right away and started working. Luna was in very bad shape but Dr Hung took good care of our pet and kept us in the loop the entire time. She was able to stabilize her vitals but we were terrified to hear that she was blind out of one eye (it was pushed out slightly from the impact). It was Dr.Hung's quick action that likely saved the eye. She quickly explained the situation and what needed to be done. She did not sugar coat the severity of her condition and she was very transparent about the cost up front which I appreciated. We agreed and she performed the surgery. I can tell that Dr Hung really cared about Luna and did everything that she could. She also gave us very detailed progress reports and told us everything we needed to know to care for her at home. She went out of her way to send us videos and information. It was a long recovery, but after 2 weeks, a lot of medicine and some follow ups, our cat has made a full recovery and her beautiful eye is intact. I am very grateful for Dr. Hungs work and can also say good things about her.
Friendly staff has always been a good exp
Great experience at Willowdale Animal Hospital (WAH). Our dog accidentally ingested rat poison and the vet was able to see him right away. She was exceptionally compassionate and thorough. The costs were also very reasonable. I also noted that nothing unnecessary was done leading to unnecessary charges. I highly recommend WAH especially for urgent/emergent issues.
I brought my 15-year old cat to Willowdale Animal Hospital for an emergency at 5 a.m. It was a sad situation and had to make the difficult decision to put her down a couple of hours later. I was struck by the incredible care we received. The staff and technicians were compassionate and professional. Dr. Hung was amazing. She was knowledgeable and patient and so caring. She literally got down on the floor with me and was engaging with my cat - not just me. I will be switching to this clinic in the future for my regular veterinary care. Many thanks to everyone who helped me through the drama and loss and helped my cat end her life without even a milisecond of discomfort.
This is a very late Google review of my experience at Willowdale Animal Hospital. My visit was roughly 2 years ago now, and I haven't had the thought of writing a review until now. My young dog at the time had consumed a pill of Naproxen, I had rushed her into the closest emergency vet at the time, I vividly remember the experience as it caused so much doubt in every emergency vet I would go to in the future. They were cold when speaking with me, and after they had examined her and brought the estimate of the services, the doctor at the time suggested that we actually give her up to the hospital so that they would be able to find someone to care for her that would be able to pay. The other problems that had occurred don't match that of the disrespect of stating for me to GIVE UP my animal, my best friend. At the time that that was stated, there was no mention that I couldn't pay the amount, instead it was during the moment of which they asked how much we could put together for the deposit. My assumption of the statement was because we were young, but even still that isn't something you openly state on your own will. I would understand the statement if there were no plans to pay off the vet, but the statement was completely uncalled for, disrespectful, and cold. Granted this was 2 years ago now, so I can't speak on their current practices, but I will say I would recommend any other vet and ONLY use this as an absolute last resort. Travel the extra 30 minutes to another one if you have the time, because I know if I could go back I surely would.
One of our twin Basset Hounds was recently treated by Dr. Rose Bloomberg for a laceration on her back. The entire Staff of this clean, modern, well-cared for Hospital/Clinic were spectacular. Our experiences were EXTREMELY POSITIVE from the moment of our initial phone call, through arrival, our Dog's treatment, discussion thereafter, and follow-up. Dr. Bloomberg was incredibly kind-hearted, empathetic, exceptionally knowledgeable (sharing her background and expertise as both Veterinarian and a Microbiologist), and she worked very quickly. We drove from Downtown Toronto specifically to the Willowdale Animal Hospital and can speak confidently, that our experiences here have been nothing but amazing and Ginger has made a 100% recovery, much faster than anticipated. Thank you so much again from all 4 of us!
They don't answer their phone. I tried calling several times to ask if they had a product. Multiple times they outright pick up the phone and hang up immediately. Other times just let it ring. Since they didn't answer the phone I had to go there. My own vet had recommended a supplement (Lysine) which is available over the counter. I asked if they had it. The girl had no idea what it was but said even if they had it I would have to have an appointment to get a prescription. THIS STUFF IS AVAILABLE AT PET STORES, AND IS OVER THE COUNTER. There are just so many layers of incompetence going on here. If they just answered the phone in the first place I wouldn't have wasted my time.
I am a long time client of Willowdale (over 16 yrs) and can only attest to the care that both of my dogs received. My first dog "Google" was treated by Dr. Bloom, Dr. Krebs and Dr. Neculoiu who all took great care of her right till the very end. Currently my dog "Rosie" has been seeing Dr. Bloom since she was 12 wks old. He has been so great with her. All I can say is this amazing treatment facility is not just a 24hr emergency animal hospital. It is a great local business that takes the time to answer all of my questions, eliminate any fear my dog has and makes sure that both "Rosie" and I get the best of care. Come check this place out if you have never been here. As for the negative reviews I think many people let their emotions and wallets get in the way of allowing this amazing team to provide care for their pets.
What kind of vet clinic threatens an owner with surrender of their animal if they won't pay an extortionate amount for a follow up procedure to a surgery that was already paid for? No one should ever bring their animal here. My dogs have had several surgeries one has gone to an after hours clinic in VANCOUVER twice, the other to the Vancouver Specialists clinic. Never has the bill been 8,000. They should be reported to the college and have their licenses reviewed. If it wasn't cutting edge orthopedic surgery with several weeks of in house care that bill was outrageous.
Thank you to Dr. Tezel for helping us out with our cat who became very ill and had to be euthanized. She took us in on short notice and reassured us that we were making the best decision for our beloved pet.
Emergency facilitates like this one and the trained personnel within them save lives every day - allowing families more time with their beloved pets. Thank you for all that you do!
I have to say that Dr. Bloomberg has been the best vet I've met since my last two dogs 9 years ago. What a great Veternarian, you should set up appointments with her. Wait times in animal hospitals are always a bit irritable but she was also comforting and trustworthy. ????????????????
I came to this hospital with our cat Bob who lost her vision due to high blood pressure (chronic kidney decease) Doctor Lee promptly put her on amlodipine and within a week Bob could see again! Thank you Willowdale Animal Hospital, you are true professionals
The vet and nurse so nice and helpful. And, they're so professional, who provide me lots of advice.I hope my Yorkie is getting better now.
DO NOT GO HERE! Our experience here was horrific! This place was horrific. Unprofessional... useless... need I say more? I happily will... Our dog had his tongue sliced with scissors while having his face groomed. We were referred here as it was almost 10pm on a Friday night. The receptionist moved with zero urgency as our dog bled from his mouth all over and was in a panic. Once we finally got him settled in an exam room they came in to tell us we had to bring him back out to be weighed. The vet finally sauntered into the exam room and before he even tried to look at him he started "googling" our regular vet to see if we could just wait and go see him in the morning... as we sat with our dog who had now been bleeding since 9pm (it was now over an hour later).. He opened his mouth, and literally freaked out. He said that the surgery to repair the problem would probably cost us $3000, and that he couldn't do anything for us, so we would have to drive out to Scarborough to the (what I now know) is the REAL emergency clinic. He said that it looked very severe. He then darted back and forth in a scramble trying to call them to "activate the emergency team". More than once he commented on how dire the situation was. He did nothing to calm or stabilize our dog, or keep us calm, or inform us about anything to do with his condition. He sent us away without any instructions or strategies to slow the bleeding on our way to the hospital. The only useful thing that happened was that as we were leaving, we asked if someone could please tell us exactly where we were supposed to go. As the vet stood looking confused and stunned, literally frozen in the waiting room staring at us, the receptionist quickly wrote down the contact info for the REAL emergency veterinary clinic. Horrible horrible place. Do not bother going here. If you have a pet emergency during off hours go straight to Toronto Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Scarborough. They were phenomenal, calm, and had us fixed up in no time!
My husband and I are very happy and satisfied with the care and treatment our puppy Loki and our cat Leonard have received here at the Willowdale Animal Hospital, under Dr David Sheehan. Dr Sheehan is always happy to answer our questions, offer advice and will always explain what he is doing and let us know all our options to save us money. The rest of the staff there are lovely and helpful as well, and always so happy to see Loki. No, pet care is not cheap (especially puppy care), but these guys make it worth it. We never feel like they are pushing extra services or treatment on us, and they often shave a few $ off our bill to help with multiple vet visits a month. It's not much, but its nice to know they genuinely care about us and our pets (no really, they do!). I never feel like they are trying to get us through as fast as possible, or make money off of us. Also, because it is a 24h clinic, this makes it a whole lot easier to schedule appointments, we love the flexibility! Thanks Willowdale Animal Hospital!
My story with Willowdale Animal Hospital started in 2014 when I came with my 10 weeks old puppy. He was in a very bad shape and his head and neck started to swallow. Dr Bloom actually saved my Sunny, his diagnostic was right and he was even calling to know how our dog was doing. After that our visits to the clinic have been always the normal check ups. Recently Sunny have been a bit afraid to visit the vet but we are working on it. Our last visit was quite different, we did it at the waiting area, and Sunny behave much better. I think is very convenient to visit a clinic that offer 24 hours service, they know my dog and we always feel very welcome in there.
Believe the negative reviews for sure. This clinic could care less for animals. Went in for an emergency and got treated like crap. My animal didn't get the help it needed had to go to another clinic at 4 am and ALSO the lovely kicker to it. There was another animal in the back I guess that was staying the night that we don't know and was crying naturally and all we hear is one of the over night on call staff yell to the dog "SHUT UP" and hear the cage get smacked. This clinic... I honestly have no words. I would stay away! Far away.
A major rip-off. We came for a vaccine administering. They told us our pet was too young to vaccinate and sold us some other stuff you could get in other places for free. Then they also charge an outrageous consultation fee (all of which "consultation" we already knew) for 15 min of service.

As a local guide. I say look somewhere else. they will nickle and dime you.
Pet medical care industry seem to be full of wealthy yet opportunistic and dishonest people on a mission to steal from you as much as they can, while they can. A good example is ** Willowdale Animal Hospital ** These people are bunch of thieves. They manipulate your mind and when your are most vulnerable, they try to reach into your pocket as deep as possible. Dr, Krebs is a master of this art, literally. We brought in our coughing cat one night. Dr. Krebs checked her out, said that there was probably a hairball inside. Prescribed laxatives (to coughing!!) and a medicine "to coat stomach lining". What suckers we were falling for this! 48 hours later we are back with our cat. Cat is heavily breathing and Dr. Krebs says that the cat is in a respiratory distress and "could die very soon if not helped". Dr. Krebs presents a $1,700 "first night" ICU hospitalization estimate that includes oxygen, IV, $250 x-ray etc etc. We're no longer suckers so we stand up and decide to leave. The next day we go to one of the best rated vets in town. Diagnosis: Mild allergic reaction likely due to the new carpet. We pay $80 for exam and pills that cat is finished with in 5 days and never coughs again. Don't be a sucker, run with the first sense of uneasiness at Willowdale Animal Hospital, or anywhere else.
The waiter has a good attitude, my little baby is sick here, and he is cured soon.
Great place, just don't like their prices
We brought our 7-8 year old rabbit in because she couldn't use her hind legs. Vet suggested xrays, about 100$ for two shots. She told us to come back in an hour, after about half she called saying she took some blood while she was sedated would we like to do a blood test. We weren't at our best so we said yes. When we got back, she explains that the blood work was fine and that she couldn't tell if it was arthritis or cancer, and she didn't have long to live anyways. Thanks for stating the obvious for almost 500$ that we don't have.
My friend’s lovely cat went to this hospital at midnight. Charges 500 at the beginning, the price for surgery is too high around 10,000 That is horrible. This lovely cat was announced incurable and will pass away
Chose this hospital to help our 19 year old dog Riku pass on. One of the hardest days of my life but the staff at this hospital were very compassionate and respectful. I have no regrets bringing my old friend here. Thank you Willowdale.
I was charged $ 770 for unnecessary tests for tear eye!!!!
except a few nice people crew there, this place is the worst clinic ever. it's all about your money, if the service they provide you is not expensive enough, they make you leave there high and dry!
The technicians were really nice people, and did the initial examination. Then the Dr came in, and instead of talking about what might be the problem, she prepared a plan of action. The stay for the fist night would be one price, but we were going to sign a document making us responsible for an exorbitant amount. I suffered a heart attack recently so I had no income for 6 months, which she commented that the prices were as they are and we need to sign. We decided against that and spent the night trying to keep our dog alive so we can go to our vet. I took her the following morning, as we were up all night. I agreed to leaving her at our vet, as he was going to do the same for her as the other vet, at 1/3 the cost. As we were finishing she died in front of me from a heart attack, at 2 years old. I would go to this place again, as they are not interested in helping animals, at least the doctor that we saw wasn't, as all that was important was the money, not the patient. We have been crying for 3 days, and are at a total loss, and some responsibility has to be taken by Willowdale Animal Hospital as they are obviously gouging people because we love our animals. Twinkle will be missed by many people, especially us, as she died to soon, and because of not being able to pay exorbitant fees due to life.
I usually don't write reviews because I usually think my time can be spent doing things more productive but for the sake of public good, and for preventing other people wasting their time and money like I did going to this hospital, I am taking my time to write this review. I saw Dr. Petrut for my dog having diarrhea and vomiting. it is my personal experience, and maybe other people have different experience than I do. My personal impression was that he seemed to be making business out of seeing dog, rather than having genuine concern and care for patient. He would be offering procedures that are not necessary for treating the symptoms, and try to sell these unnecessary treatment. For instance, he offered hospitalizing the dog for 24 hours, which would cost $1,500 and if you're not convinced, he would press you to take $600-700 procedure. Although I highly doubt maybe those procedures are truly necessary in Dr. Petrut's point of view, witnessing how he offers treatment strategy depending on whether the patient buys it or not really convinced me that he is trying to make business out of seeing patient. By the way, my dog got better immediately without having any of the procedure the day after.
We have been seeing Dr. Bloom for our 5 year husky since we brought her home (9 weeks old). He takes great care of her and she loves visiting the clinic!
Very nice but definitely pray on your emotions. Charging $1400 for x-rays for indegestion is ridiculous.
I'm not sure why procedures were done to my pet without letting me know (regardless of how minor they may have been); you have no right to do a procedure without getting consent.
Avoid this veterinarian clinic at all cost! They tried to gauge us for 1200$ of services. Fortunately, we didn't fall for their schemes and in the end, only paid 300$. They exploit your love for your pets, and will upsell you on all their services. I will never come to this clinic again! The long story: On 12/2/2018, our dog got into a Christmas care package and consumed some dark chocolate covered almonds. Dr. Aliabadi was the vet on staff that evening. He brought us in a room, performed an examination on our dog, and then had a staff member take her away. Once we were separated from her, he informed us that she ate a significant amount of chocolate, and ran through a list of procedures they would need to perform on her. Here is the list: -Induce vomiting through medication (emesis induce) -Stop vomiting through medication (maropitant cerenia) -Provide charcoal to remove toxins -Liver test -Neurological damage test -Blood work -Overnight stay -Overnight monitoring -Iv & fluids After he told us the list of procedures he asked us "Do you require an estimate?" This was an immediate red flag for me. Obviously, I told him I did. He came back 20 mins later with a list of all the procedures. The price tag was a whopping 1200$! He insisted "this is the gold standard of services". Luckily I knew from other pet owners that 300-400$ was the general cost for inducing vomiting for your pet. I informed Dr. Aliabadi that we didn't have insurance for our pet, and asked if there was an option B. He told us he didn't recommend anything less than the "gold standard approach". I insisted there must be an alternative. He reluctantly suggested we try the first three steps: induce vomiting, stop vomiting, provide charcoal (the cost 300$). BUT he warned us that it was a "very risky alternative and not recommended". I told that we would try the first three steps, and see from there. He left us, 15 mins later he returned and to his credit, mentioned we might want to call ASPCA for further help on this case. It was an additional 65.00 (USD) to open up a file and seek help from another vet who specializes in animal poisonings. Over the phone, this vet was able to offer her recommendations and work in conjunction with Dr. Alibadi. The ASPCA was very helpful. The doctor on the phone said as long as our dog vomits 50-60% of the chocolate she would be fine. She also informed us we could call back at no extra charge. After around 45 mins Dr. Alibadi came back and said our dog vomited most of the dark chocolate. He told us he contacted our ASPCA doctor and they agreed that the next step would be to administer charcoal and an electrolyte injection. I asked him "what are the cost?" He said "oh not too much". I asked, "How much exactly?" He said "around 50$ or so". I made him fetch me an estimate. While he was out of the room I called the ASPCA back. I asked the doctor over the phone if charcoal and electrolytes were necessary. She told us they DO NOT recommend charcoal at all. That they believe it is actually quite harmful for dogs. She also said as long as our dog had access to water throughout the night, that electrolytes were not needed. So, I guess Dr. Alibadi LIED to us. The ASPCA did not recommend the procedures he was offering. He came back with an estimate and the price tag was an additional 150$ for charcoal and electrolytes. I told him I spoke with the ASPCA, that they told me those procedures were unnecessary, and that we would be declining further treatments. In the end, we were charged the following (tax included): - Exam/Consultation Medical Condition - 93.69$ - Emesis induce - 154.45$ - Maropitant (Cerenia) 10/mg/ml/ml - 64.96$ For a grand total of 313.10$ 313.10$ He originally tried to fleece us out of 1200$. Four times as much!
I was just wondering how the hell you guys sleep at night and how you have the nerve to take a dog away from their family. You guys are disgusting and incredibly selfish. Instead of arranging a payment plan for the family to pay for the services rendered and allowing the family and their children to keep their dog you just take it away. Let me ask this? How the hell is taking the dog away from the family going to get your bills paid? I hope you guys lose enough business to shut your place down. You guys don’t deserve to be in business nor in the business of pet care. If you guys cared you’d know what a pet means to every family. Damn bafoons!
This vet wet downhill since it was bought by the US company VCA. Money is their bottomline.
Doctor Lee is awesome but unfortunately it looks like I'm going to need a new veterinarian going forward.... I've been waiting over a week for a call back from management at this location. I had an issue with customer service and billing that required manager intervention however 9 days later I have yet to receive a call. Good work and customer service WILLOWDALE VCA. I'm now looking for vets outside of the VCA umbrella but this company seems to have been buying up vets all over the city, hiking the prices and providing poor customer service. Edit: Jul 21 ... Now 3 weeks without a call from management.... Called the office to remind them and they said I should get a call by end of week. We'll see if that happens.... Keep you all posted on this ridiculous customer service failure.
Terrible place that almost killed my aunt's cat, chanel, they injected the antibiotics in the wrong place in her neck. Go to Brown's animals hospital at Leslie and York mills instead they are great.
Wow...I just called to ask about the cost of getting my puppy neutered here and they said they can't tell me the price over the phone and I have to come in for a full paid appointment just to find out the cost?!?!? That makes no sense to me. Why does it cost money and my time just to find that out? I don't live that far and offered to bring him in and to get the info in person but they said it has to be an actual paid appointment! Rediculous. They do get 2 stars from me though because when my older dog had a scary issue with her eye on a day/time that my vet was closed they were quick and efficient and not that expensive. I'll go back with emergency issues when no other vet is open but otherwise this place is not worth even calling.
I brought in a dehydrated stray kitten and they took care of her and I'm so grateful!
The staff and veterinarians are caring and compassionate! Kudos to all who devote their lives and livelihood to the veterinary profession!
RE: CTV news report All this negative feedback on the clinic is undeserved and unsubstantiated. Don't believe everything you see on TV. The CTV news report was bias in favouring the neglectful dog owner to draw emotion out of viewers, to make it a"story". All everyone sees is the dog was held from their family when all they wanted was them to get healthy again. What was going through their mind when they brought their dog to the clinic and were given an estimate? $8k is too much and I can't pay for that. The 8k means more to me than the to continue to be the parent of this dog so I would rather give them away or have them die because the cost of that life could mean their next vacation. As an adult you need to take responsibility for your decisions, and in this case money was more important than being real parents to your pet family member. So when a clinic provides the option to do whatever is needed on their dime with you surrendering the ownership of that dog because you can't pay for it, you "sign the papers and that was it"? Either you are incredibly stupid, knew exactly what you were doing and terribly regretted it, or worst yet knew exactly what you were doing and conspired to throw the clinic under the bus to get free care. That is despicable and you have the nerve to go to the media to try to get your dog back free of charge? The cost of care is another debate and unfortunately we live in a world where health care for pets can be expensive. Could there have been a payment plan? Hopefully a business decision that can be considered with the clinic. Care is not free and is a fact of life. There's nothing wrong with regretting your decisions. What disgusts me is you point the finger at the clinic like they wronged you. Full disclosure. I know people at this clinic. I bring my own pet there. They are not incompassionate monsters you all see them as and if you feel they are, find another clinic. I support their staff 100% because I know they have some vets that care for my Ash admittedly even more than I do sometimes. As for privacy of disclosure, it's up to you how private you want to keep your own affairs. It's not up to a clinic to decide how much you would want them to share about your personal matters, even if you decide to publicize your decisions on the news. The update likely came with the consent of the owner.
Took our puppy there for the first year of her life. Started feeling relief when I left the place after spending "only " $400. Prescriptions for this, antibiotics for that. Maladies that never went away until we just cured them ourselves with natural remedies. Certainly people who care about animals and the hours are convenient. But enough was enough for us. Total cash grab....
quite literal stalking and harassment, don't go here. I had a consultation with them once last year and it turned out overpriced so I never went there. they've been calling me, emailing me non stop since then, asking when i'm going to book my next appointment or reminding me of appointments i never booked, they mailed a card to my house saying looking forward to our next appointment. did i mention i never even gave them my number, email, or address? so unprofessional and so so desperate. get a life
Where is my infinate negative star button? If you like being ripped off, wasting your time and waiting at least 45 minutes for your vet (Dr.Bloom aka Master of Scam artists) to see your pet per visit, then this is the place for you! Furthermore, if being scared into giving them more money is your thing, then you will love paying for all the unnecessary treatments that Dr.Bloom will scare you into paying for your pet's wellbeing. Lastly, if you ever need to request paper work from them in the future on your pet's history for whatever reason, you can count on them taking their time and making multiple mistakes before you get what you need. I have moved on to much better clinics where prices are fair, communication is efficient, and working with people that actually care about the well-being of my pet, such as Lawrence Park Animal Hospital, and Brimley-Lawrence animal clinic. :)
the reason I gave 2 stars is because my dog got sprayed by a skunk, and we had to go at 11pm to get skunk shampoo and cleaning product to clean our house and our dog. We waited for 20mins and the staff are all busy talking and doing things on the computer, finally they sold us what we need, even though the products were pretty expensive but we were in emergency, i suggest not to go there unless u are in a real emergency, the wait time is long and the products are expensive.
This service is incapable of carrying for pet emergencies. Go to VEC on Yonge street! Our cat fell from the top floor inside of our house onto an air grate one evening. She was in pain so we took her to this vet service and were seen by a Dr Beshay. He wouldn't touch her, said he needed x-rays under anaesthesia and she would need to stay overnight. So wrong! I have a medical background. I knew the x-rays could done (and should be done!) without anaesthesia. I saw the abysmal state of the basement treatment area. I took my cat out of there as fast as I could move!! We went to the VEC at 920 Yonge Street. Incredibly professional. No anaesthesia for the x rays. We were shown the results within minutes and given a proper exam and a referral to one of their orthopedic specialists. At half the price quoted by Willowdale. We are charged with an exam that did not even occur. Willowdale prices are ridiculous, care is dangerous. Avoid them.
I would give negative scores if I could. Their doctor knows nothing except money. Their price can change easily to accurate to ur last dollar in ur wallet. And you spend thousands dollars they just repeat check again and again.
bad experience ,they know how to make money from customer. They always highlight the price and force you to pay.
We were told that because we were present at the appointment start time that the doctor couldn’t see the pet for another hour. Yes, because we were there AT THE START TIME. It’s not enough that the animal is sick and old, let’s keep them in a strange and uncomfortable environment with bright lights for an hour late at night.
Worst attitude
To be honest, I first thought this place was a big money grab. The veterinarians were originally not as friendly as I had hoped and seemed to be more focused on being as quick as possible to see the next patient. It was like this for a couple of years with different doctors at this hospital, until I had one of my cats see Dr. Bloom. He is very friendly, and goes into great detail regarding your pet's health. He even called me back to tell me that my cat's blood work was normal. I had an emergency situation where I had to take both of my cats into the hospital, and he ensured that the doctor (Dr. Sheehan) working that night was up-to-date regarding an ongoing issue with one of my cats. Dr. Sheehan was also very thorough with providing me with information. Both of them have excellent "bedside" manner and were excellent veterinarians.
This is an amazing vet clinic! My cat, who was very young, broke her hip. The staff was very friendly and my cat got back perfect!
The doctors here really care about their patients and it shows. I know they're a little on the expensive side but quality of care matters; when doctors and technicians spend so much time trying to find out what is the best for my pets I don't mind paying a little extra. The doctors have never done anything I didn't consent to, and have always cleared every cost with me before doing anything to my pets in all of my experiences. Whenever I have questions the staff is more than willing to help me get answers or direct me where I can find them. You have to realize that the staff are also are people, and the place is a business, so if they seem busy or charge you for services you've consented to, they're doing their best to help you in a time of need for your pets. People have bad days and these people are there to help you during yours - they get that it's hard to go through emergencies and pay vet bills because they are pet owners too. They feel just as stressed when an emergency comes in or you're unhappy with your bill so try not to be so hard on people who work in an establishment where they don't control the prices that their bosses set. Thank you for always taking care of my fur-children and always being so warm when we stop in for treats and kisses!
Concerned more about money than animals.
It’s incredible how many people feel the same way about this place. It’s unfortunate that this is the nearest hospital for my cat as she hates car rides and visits. As for staff, every time I come into this place or even call, I end up so disappointed. One time they left me on hold for over ten mins, I had to hang up and call back and remind them they left me there waiting for that long and it wasn’t even busy! They definitely are moneygrabbers. They charge over 200+ for insulin that you can purchase for 70 with tax at Costco or Walmart. It’s sickening. Staff I hope you read this, you’re forgetting about customer service. And when you tell a client that their stuff will be ready during a certain time, then have it ready and don’t forget to call.
Saved my dogs life after a near drowning. Open on holidays. Dr. Hung is amazing, very up front about treatments and costs, comforting but realistic. Tech Rebecca made my usually nervous around strangers dog comfortable during treatment. Dr. Hung followed up via phone and helped us get Roxy home asap after hospitilzation. Very happy with this hospital and staff! !
Took my Brother in law baby poodle and had a issue with walking my Brother in law arrived 2 min later. We went in and we waited for about an hour and then they examined her and in 5 min the vet said it needs surgery. What!!!!! My Brother in law said for what? The vet said it has a injury that only surgery could correct it. No! He said lets go! Then the vet said don't you care? This is a guilt trip that has been put on us. I said we will go elsewhere. She then said if you want we can give it a steroid shot injection and hope it gets better the total would be $180 we said fine. The surgery was $1,300. Huge difference. So I do NOT like the tactics they use. I then found another place that was more honest and without the gouging. GOUGING IS NOT COOL!!!!!! V.Bolt
I am often kept on hold for over 4 minutes when I call. I find that the vets do care about the animals, but profit from as much as possible (overcharging on medication, push for extra tests, etc.) I will be switching vets soon.
I have been using this hospital for my two lovely puppies in last 10 years. My overall experience at Willowdale Animal Hospital is pretty good although I see some negative ratings here in Google. As any other businesses in any industry in Toronto, there are pros and cons here at the hospital as well. I'd like to let people know what those are very clearly in this review. I think it is critical to see accurate information as it's directly related to your family member. (It is not effective when you give negative ratings without any facts or stories to share) Pros: - Friendly staff / I've had good experience with all the doctors there including Mr. Bloom. They love your pet, and they also communicate with you effectively - Good environment / They try to make good atmosphere for your dogs, offer private parking lot as well - Boarding system / I feel comfortable leaving my dog there as he knows the environment and the staff there already Cons: - Schedule / I often wait more than 10-15 minutes even if I make an appointment so I show up bit late to accomodate their style now. Although it's not critical, this has to be addressed to help the owners less disturbed while visiting the hospital - Pricey / I think they're bit pricey than other hospitals. I've had experience with at 3 other vets My dog also had to go through some minor surgery at this place. First operation failed after a week, and they actually stood up and took care of the second operation without charging the full cost of the operation. The second operation was successful and my dog still has his beautiful eye. I was confident that my doctor (Dr. Bloom) could execute the operation successfully. He's very knowledgable and most importantly he loves your dog. At the end of the day, I don't really care how much I wait or pay for the service. My 1st priority is who's taking care of my dog while i'm gone and I have to feel 100% comfortable and safe to leave my dog. That's why I give 4 star (wanted to give 4.5) to this place.
Scamming at its finest...no compassion all about the bottom dollar. Thank God we have a superb vet who is also a pet owner Big corporations big money piss on the average Joe.
EXPENSIVE!!!
this used to be the best hospital but since VCA stepped in, the service is horrible. front desk attendants have attitude over the phone and its impossible to get a call back. i'm done with this place.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bloom and everyone at Willowdale. I have been a client here for over 20 years and can’t say enough good things about everyone. Our dog Spencer has been having health issues for the past few months and Dr. Bloom has gone above and beyond. He send us to specialist and has overlooked Spencer’s care. Sadly, Spencer’s health took a turn for the worst and we had to say good-bye to him on New Year’s Day. Without Dr. Bloom I doubt we would have had Spencer this long. We are truly grateful for everything he has done. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
You guys rock! If you buy a 'designer mutt' for thousands of $$ but can't afford a $8000, why do you have a dog? Life is full of unexpected emergencies. Don't bully a wonderful vet if you can't afford these emergencies! Surrender the dog so it can go to a better family who will actually take care of it instead of bullying this vet on social media--SHAME ON YOU! I wonder how you sleep at night....
I’ve been bring my cat here for 7 years and have always been pleased with the service. This is a 24 hour clinic, so you can be sure that if you pet needs emergency care, they will be able to help out. As many reviews pointed out, yes this place is a bit expensive but if you have insurance, pretty much most of your costs are covered. They will even send in your insurance claim for you. Parking at this location is behind the building and isn’t the greatest. You have to be careful when you drive down a narrow entryway. Overall, not a bad place.
Friendly vets
This practice is a trustworthy and respectable asset to the Toronto community. In face of horrendous cyberbulling, the veterinary medical staff was discrete and professional. Toronto is lucky to have this 24 hour emergency veterinary hospital working to take care of pets at all hours of the day and night. Medicine costs money. People who cannot accept that, should reconsider pet ownership. Veterinarians and veterinary medical staff are heroes often made out to be the villain because they are expected the foot the bill, while they too are trying to work to pay their bills and feed their families. Thank you for the wonderful work that you do Willowdale Animal Hospital!
If you have time to drive elsewhere for an emergency, DO SO! THEY WILL GOUGE YOUR WALLET AND BARELY HELP YOUR PET.
Few years ago I came here for my sick kitten.. vet told me to change his diet he died a few days later. And my vet Bill was $700 and then they tried to charge me to also dispose of his body ..
Do Not Bring Your To This Place Willowdale Animal Hospital they almost cost my pet his life!!!!.....Sunday Oct 5th 2015...my Maltese Princey started to vomit and had slight diarrhea I didn't want to risk waiting until the next day when his regular vet was available so I google an emergency vet in my area. Unfortunately I made a the fateful and regrettable decision and picked Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West....a vet name Horatiu Pertut gave Princey medication his symptoms worst and it was almost fatefu.....within 4 hours of seeing these people I had to take Princey to another emergency clinic where another vet treated Princey and said I was lucky to bring him as quickly as I did since the medication and treatment he was given at Willowdale Animal Hospital was inappropriate and Princey symptoms got worst and he was starting to experience accelerated dehydration which was not the case before the medication prescribe by the vet at Willowdale Animal Hospital....Within a few days very upset I called and lodged a complaint to Management at Willowdale Animal Hospital to express my concern about the Vet's lack of knowledge and the fact that after seeing him Princey was worst off. . these people have no idea how to treat a pet during an emergency and they do NOT care about treating your sick pet instead they are interested in selling products including the 6 cans of food, an anxiety calming vest (which they place on Princey in the waiting room for no reason) and the Vet request to hold Princey overnight which he obviously did not need. While they agreed to take back the 6 cans of food because the brand was on the FDA recall list....they have refused to look into my biggest concern which was that the Vet did not know what he was doing and prescribed the appropriate treatment which resulted in Princey symptoms worsen.....during my phone conversation with a few different representative It was explained to me a Vet Tech review the treatment and stand behind the treatment......I repeat they said that their Vet Tech oversaw what was done by the actual Vet Horatiu Pertut who clearly had no clue what he was doing..... I will be requesting an investigation into this clinic by the Veterinary Board of Ontario.....my hope is to have this clinic expose to the public. I hope to have your support if you have visited the Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West please share your experience on any public forums to assist other loving pet owners when they have to make a critical decision in a time of duress on a suitable place to take their pets. And to stop avoid them making the same fateful mistake we did and NOT take their loving pets to this Willowdale Animal Hospital located at 256 Sheppard Avenue West....in closing DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!
I took in my kitten and cat and they were very well taken care of.
Thank you Dr. Mozes for your care and compassion up until my Boxer's last day. I've only been to this hospital once and had no relationship with this place and she still reached out to me to offer her condolences even though my cat passed elsewhere. My cat will always have a special place for you in his heart.
i stopped using this place a long time ago when they misdiagnosed my cat and took a lot of my money. needless to say, i need prescription food for my cat so sometimes come here as it is close to home. I called yesterday and wanted a case of wet food, two bags of dry food and fortiflora (which i have gotten from here before).. the lady said fortiflora was only issued if it is prescribed and i beg to differ, you can get fortiflora on amazon lady..i can also walk into any other vet (That i do not have history with) and can buy it over the counter...she kept insisting it was prescribed because her cats use it too..either way, i took my business to my main vet (forest hill animal clinic) and got my fortiflora off Amazon prime...no wonder i stopped coming this to place...
If Walmart had a vet, this would be it. After checking in, my wife and I were waiting outside for 30 minutes before their receptionist called, with incorrect information, say they couldn't see our dog because the record keeping at this place is deplorable. It's a shame because we have been going there for simple nail trimmings for years, but they had no record of it. Stay away.
I wish I could offer more than 3 stars but at this point there’s some things that really need improvement. Before I get into my review I just want to state that the first person I dealt with at the front, as well as the actual veterinarian and her assistants, were great. They explained everything and gave me and my wife options without being too pushy. The vet even offered us a sample to help with dental care to see if it would be effective. However, we had an appointment and had to wait over 30 minutes to be seen by the vet. The first time I asked what was going on was about 20 minutes in. I was told it would be another 5 minutes or so as the vet is finishing up. It was more than 10 minutes later that I came back out to speak with another lady at the front, stating that at this point I’m a bit upset because of long we’ve been waiting and that appointments don’t seem to make sense if you’re goi f to run the clinic in “walk in” mode. The lady replied quite abruptly with “well, this IS an emergency clinic, if you didn’t notice that already” as she pointed to the apparent sign on the outside of the building. I asked her to do something as we’ve been waiting for an extensive period of time and now my cat was getting more anxious as a result. She replied again, this time with “well, it’s not my job to go get the vet”. I pointed out quickly that her attitude makes it seem like she doesn’t care and is completely the wrong attitude to have in this situation. She did apologize and offer to page the vet. After another 5 minutes or so of waiting the vet cane in to see us and apologized for the wait. From that point forward things went relatively well. The vet explained things as she went along having a look at our cat who at this point was very anxious. She educated us on some potential health risks associated with common conditions and types of vaccines used and even offered food and other solutions to try to distract and calm our cat while he was being examined and given his vaccine. The rest of the visit was unremarkable and we left relatively satisfied overall. My message to the owner or manager would be that I understand the nature of the business and how it can be busy sometimes. But that should reflect staffing levels and the attitudes of the front line staff. When you have an appointment it’s important to try to keep it on time, as it won’t just affect your current client, but many clients thereafter, sometimes for the rest of the business day. I would like to see improvements in time management, efficiency and customer service (specifically by front line staff). Given some improvement in these fields, I’d be happy to rate 4*. Significant improvements would yield a 5* rating. Remember, your clients will never hesitate to tell you how you’ve been doing. Some people can over exaggerate, but if the google maps rating has anything to say about it, it’s obvious that some improvements are definitely required.
I have been bringing my dog to Willowdale since he was a puppy. Although they are more expensive then other vets in the area. They are worth every penny. I have tried several other vets in the area and all were good, but not even close to as friendly, compassionate, and professional as the vets and staff at Willowdale. If you want to bring your animal to a place that knows their stuff and takes pride in it, Willowdale is the place to go!
Good service but they ding you on extras
I recently visited the clinic after hours because my dog wasn’t doing well. Dr Tevel was/is very knowledgeable and informative, she was very clear when talking me through what was going on and what the next steps should be. Her professionalism and compassion was very appreciated during a hard time. The reception staff were also very friendly and helpful, I highly recommend Dr.Tevel.
Dr. Bloom and his team of veterinarians are the best at what they do. Along with their competence and professionalism, all staff members have their unique way of caring and loving each patient as their own. Don’t second guess and just take your furry family member to get taken care of <3
I wish i could give them 0 star. I don't know how they're allowed to operate, giving false diagnosis to clients so they can profit from the random tests and medication. I had the Egyptian vet, never gave a straight answer. Said we needed to get the heartwarming tests done along with annual heart worm/flea prevention and elective/preventive coverage. In total spend $788, the results for the test came back negative. Went in for another visit as the problem didn't go away. He decides that we need to go on another medication and shelled out another $700+. Problem still didn't go away. Avoid these guys and trust the rest of the reviews on this vet clinic. They want your money, not to help your pet.
THIS IS THE MOST HORRIBLE PLACE EVER! DO NOT RISK TO TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS HOSPITAL. I TOOK MY CAT TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCY ONE NIGHT, I LEFT MY CAT IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 3 HOURS FOR DIAGNOSIS, AND WHEN TOOK HER BACK HOME, I REALIZED THAT HER PAW WAS COVERED IN BLOOD, ONE NAIL WAS GONE!!!! AND ONE TEETH WAS BROKEN. THEY TOLD ME MY CAT WAS NOT BEHAVING WELL. YOU COULD HAVE JUST TOLD ME TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. THEY CHARGE SOOOO MUCH TOO.
Only positive thing is that it opens 24 hrs 7/7.
Don’t go there if you really have an emergency situation. They will just ignore you just to be able to charge you for more time(time spent waiting!) You'll put your pet at risk!!! I went to Willowdale Animal Hospital as I was home alone with our dogs, and concerned our puppy who at that time I thought he had eaten Tylenol pills. So far the doctor had only showed me what their costs would be before doing any treatments, and I was shocked as the total was almost $2000.00 for overnight care there! That is a lot of $$$ which to me seemed a very high amount!!! Then my son who had just got home called and was telling me he found the Tylenol pill bottle intact, our dog did not eat any in fact. I was relieved as my son called me at this Hospital while I was in between waiting and waiting and waiting to be seen again. I was there almost an hour without any treatment to our puppy(had he actually had eaten Tylenol he would have gotten much worse while we had to wait) So once my son assured me that all is okay, I took our dog and left. Next my son received a most threatening phone call from the doctor at this Hospital informing us that unless we went back there bringing our puppy with, she'll be forced to call animal protection and the dog will be taken away from us! This doctor would not believe us when we told her all was well, it was me caring for our puppies heath, and once I knew he's in no danger or suffering is why I left. Being made to wait a long time for nothing further seeing their exorbitant cost of care is going to be made me rather upset! This staff are trained to grind BIG MONEY from pet owners who go to them as we all love our pets! We gave them $100.00 just for the privilege of waiting to be seen and informed of costs, no treatment was given. They still our calling us to be paid more then the $100.00 we already paid them. We paid more then they deserve, furthermore I do not appreciate being threatened, as they did,who would??? I'm quite certain many others have current horror stories about WILLOWDALE ANIMAL HOSPITAL! Many years ago back in 1985 another of our dogs passed away after enjoying 18 years of a long healthy life and we were then treated well then. Which is why I went back there now. Sadly the staff has changed, all the nice doctors from then are long gone, and this place cheats pet owners,or they're just extremely expensive! Avoid this place!
Thank you so much to the whole team working Thanksgiving day 2019. I brought in my very sick cat, Monty, who was in end stage renal failure and was in a lot of pain and discomfort. I knew it was time and they made the decision much easier for me. I will be forever grateful for the care they showed him in his final moments as well as how well they handled how much of a mess I was. Thank you Dr. Hung and team, I was distraught over not being able to see my usual veterinary team due to the holiday, but you went above and beyond with compassion.
After I informed that it was a emergency, I was put on hold for so long my wife called and set an appointment elsewhere.
Dr. Karen Hung is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met, both for humans and animals. We had to take our dog in for an emergency without a prior phone call or an appointment. I am forever thankful to the staff here that took our 11 year old dog in and gave him the best care possible during his 9 hour stay. Dr. Hung stayed with our dog and gave us phone call updates, even past her shift. We recommend Dr. Hung and the staff at the Willowdale Animal Hospital whole heartedly.
They seem to overcharge and make you wait forever
Really good service, helped our kitten.
Willowdale Animal Hospital is simply the best health care facility you can provide your pet as an owner. The facility has the best Doctor’s, Technicians and medical equipment – human hospitals should run themselves as effectively as Willowdale Animal Hospital. On a personal note, my little girl, Churchill loved Dr. Jonathon Bloom had to walk her to the car every time she left the building. His genuine doggie greeting was always welcomed by Churchill (and made me smile) – Toronto, is very fortunate to have an individual with his compassion, skills and genuine love for animals. Thank you. Churchill and D.
From the moment I walked through the doors my family was treated with respect and kindness. Our wait was short and though I was through the roof with anxiety for my sick dog, the staff made me feel as at-ease as possible. The doctor was thorough and gentle and they really cared about my dog. I cannot say enough about my incredible experience here. Even my dog wasn't fearful and he was in a new place which would usually make him very nervous.
I took my kitten into this "hospital". She wasnt breathing so they revived her. They told me her chances were 50/50. NEVER did the doctor even explain to me what was wrong with my kitten. All they cared about was talking about how much money i can give them to fix her. I get a call the next day saying the cat isnt doing to well but can still beat what ever she had ( they still have not told me what happened to my kitten) two hours after the call they tell me my cat is doing well. I got excited ready to bring her home. two hours after that i get a phone call saying she vomited and died. This veternary clinic if you want to call it that is a shameful place. All they want is money. NEVER bring your animal here. They care more about their money then the animals they should be saving. I spent 900 dollars on the overnight stay. Now i need to pay another 300 to get her ashes back. All they did was play emotional games with me until they felt i payed enough money.
They saved my cat. Very professional. Run like a hospital. Friendly and compassionate people. Highly recommended.
This place is absolutely horribble DO NOT GO. They dont care for your dog. They are all about upselling and trying to see you stuff. They just want your money. They made me wair for over an hour and I left and booked an appointment for later and my wife got the same treatment even with an appointment. They are horrible and have lack of communication and very unprofessional and sldo not know care. This place is horrible DO NOT GO
Thank you Dr Constantin for taking such good care of Oscar that one scary night. Me and Anjali are very grateful. He is now back to his old self again and all his test results have now come back normal. Thankfully his kidney failure was acute and he seems to have fully recovered.
MoneyMoneyMOney ,stay away this place
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! we went during the night because our dog was dry heaving and we wanted to know possible causes. Right off the bat, said it would be $2000 to full examine her!!! Didn't even full check on her at all just listened to her breathing. She made us so scared so we left her our dog overnight to monitor - costed us over 500 bucks. Took her in the morning to get a second option and they said she was healthy and none of those procedures were necessary at all. THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU EVEN WHEN YOUR PET IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY.
Our cat has been with Williowdale Animal Hospital since May 2019. Our experience with this hospital was exceptionally good and positive. The doctors, technicians and front desk staffs were always professional, friendly and helpful. Our kitten had a spay surgery this week, and we can’t thank enough for the full attentions and cares they gave to our little princess.
My dog was not feeling well so I took her here. Vet who I don t recall her name was freaking out about me Raw feeding my dog. I did a lot of tease arch about raw feeding my dog and I did do consulting several experts on the subject. Google raw feeding and you will find lots of vets in support of a prey based diet for dogs. I feed a commercial raw diet This vet did not even want to touch my dog and made this whole experience bad. If they don t want to treat dogs on a raw diet put a small GM on the door and let clients know in advance. They had no problem accepting my money. My sister recommended this place but has now also had a bad experience here. I guess the reviews say it all.
Worst place ever. They don't care about the pets, they're just greedy and want to put extra costs to everything. I took my pet there for spay surgery and they did not only not perform the surgery but ended up charging $300 for consultation and another $200 for blood work. Avoid this place at all circumstances.
Well I will be very honest with everybody here in this review ., if you love your pet as a part of your life ., DON'T EVER COME HERE PLEASE ..they will only see how much money they can get from the bad moments you are going through that all and they will insist to leave your dog more time because they needed to collect more money ., if you refuse they will tell you to sing a paper as you will responsible if your pet die or anything ., the thing is make you to feel guilty and worried and leave your pet there and for sure it will be a lot of money you have no idea and also please never sing anything ??? never before you read it carefully if you have no choice so please I will never ever will recommend this play to anybody ever be careful if you have no choice so please I will never ever will recommend this play to anybody ever.
Once I told them I feed my dogs raw, the vet took two steps back, put on gloves and still wouldn’t touch my dog, as if she would catch a disease. He had itchy ears and wanted to put him back on kibble, an exotic type - I believe it was kangaroo. A lot of dogs are on chicken so she told me to stay off of chicken. When I went to grab the bag by the front desk I checked the ingredients and chicken was the first ingredient on the list. I confronted the vet and she said she didn’t realize ….I left.
I took my cat because she was constantly what seemed to be trying to hack up a fur ball but I am sure it wasn't. The vet just kept wanting to do more tests and more tests until I figured out it was all about money and not the health of my cat. I never did find out what it was... well over $1000 and he never even tried to call to see if she was ok. I guess we know what their business practice is all about. I recommend going somewhere that cares about the animals they are treating not how much money they can make off you.
We just spend 5hrs and over $1000.00 and called back to get a referral to a specialist but we got rejected by Dr. Lee ...we were told she's too busy to call and give a summary of their findings so " ask the other Dr .to call us back" !!! ...we had the other clinic's doctor' s name, phone number and all Dr Lee had to do was make a phone call...how inconsiderate can you be!? I would suggest stop taking your pet to Dr. Lee because Dr. would not get paid for a phone call so not willing to help. So disappointing. Eventually receptionist had to ask their other Dr. Off duty who visited us to make the referral for us!
This place is close to where I live. Having 2 dogs, with 1 being car sick, all the time, I chose it. Staff is wonderful, Dr. takes time to explain different options and any tests are my options. Of course I want the best - even if it costs. I would rather be safe than sorry Thankfully a lot of tests came back and my dogs weren't sick and I was relieved. I feel very comfortable going & so do my pets
I gotta tell you all, I had the same idea, omg this is so close to my house let me take my poor dog there. The result I went there twice in a two days in row and they still couldn't find out what's going on. First doctor said it's diarrhea and the second day the other doctor said it's UTI andaand theytthey send metme homedhome with antibiotics then they they me and say no it's not UTI after a day. I told them I'm willing to spend all the money to see my dog better and they said oh it's a medical practice that we have to guess what's wrong haha. Common dude. Big mistake to choose this place because it's close to your house because in couple of days you have to take your pet to another hospital with more pain. If you google and can't find what's wrong with your dog trust me they can't either so you better take your pet to a real hospital and save few days and few hundred $. Good luck and I wish you all let owner never fall for this trap. Cheers
Wish I saw the reviews before going here tonight. The nurses, or I think it was specifically the technician here is absolutely horrible. The dr was decent but you could tell how insincere the staff are. I believe the technician’s name was Catherine. You need to remember the whole world doesn’t revolve around you. Genuinely regret not seeing the reviews. We didn’t have the money to euthanize our kitten and we were new to rescuing a kitten and unfortunately didn’t think hard enough about the money aspect. We just wanted to protect the lil kitty. This staff member made us feel so horrible to do something like that. Choosing to euthanize the kitty was very hard because not only have we never had to decide to euthanize an animal but also we couldn’t afford any further treatment because we had already spent $400 on a vet checkup earlier that day and cat supplies earlier. The doctor said it was okay to choose to take him home because the kitten didn’t seem like he was in pain while he was dying and that he wouldn’t call the humane society on us because he was perfectly fine. The technician however, since we talked to her on the phone, was absolutely horrible. Please don’t assume the worst when you don’t know anything. Once again the world doesn’t revolve around you please learn to keep your heart open. We ended up euthanizing our kitten and her insincerity made the experience so much worse. We were all in pain not just you so please learn to think of others.
My cat was 7 weeks into her pregnancy yet the staff were unable to diagnose that she was pregnant. We were charged around 300$ for a diagnosis they were not able to make. As a result, she had a terrible delivery and two of her babies were born dead. I am very disappointed with the service they provided. I hope your future customers come across this review and don’t consider your service.
Wasting money here! My dog is in estrus cycles and have a little bit swelling with her ????, so I came to see the doctor. He just said every thing is fine with my dog and introduced many diseases of dogs and let me do some health examination for my dog and that, and it cost me one hundred dollars after his 10 minutes sales promotion!
garbage black heart clinic killed my pet
One night, my poor husky has an emergency just after midnight. I thought of this clinic instantly since I live around the neighbourhood and I actually transferred all my 3 pets profile to them. I called them to let them know that I m on my way. The person on the phone started to question me with a bunch of questions, like: - why is your dog in an emergency and you call us? - why is your dog vomiting? And at last, they told me that the doctor is leaving in 10 mins so don’t bother going. I honestly have no ideas why do they even bother to open 24hours. So yea, honestly, don’t bother going. I went to VEC on Yonge at the end.
Awesome clinic, very knowledgeable staff. Dr. Cindy Krebs is our favorite.
Brought my 15 week old kitten here on a Saturday evening after her cast fell off. My regular vet was closed and they recommended I contact Willowdale for any medical emergencies. Had to make an appointment with a veterinarian 3 hours after the cast fell off as they were all with other clients. The vet was VERY helpful, answered all the questions I had and did an excellent job applying a new splint for the kitten, who is now very happy in my bathroom while she recovers :). The cost wasn't terrible either; $69 for consultation (lower than my regular vet), $68 for bandage (higher than my regular vet). Very pleased, friendly staff all around!!
I've been taking our cat here for a few years now. The service tends to be good, and I don't feel like there has been any unnecessary costs. We were a bit worrisome that we were going to be ripped off when we first went in as the vet stated our cat and dental issues and recommended we go on dental food. Did some of our own research and everything our vet said did match what we found. I've never shopped around for prices from other vets so they may be comparable. That being said I've never felt like I got a good deal.
I can't speak to the past, but my experience was wonderful. They took care of my kitten with love and the vet was glad to take calls from just for quick updates. I showed up late at night with a near dead abandoned animal that was stranded outside my house and they saved him. Now he's my buddy. I'm not sure about the past, but currently, this animal hospital and the team there are amazing!
On my 2nd visit to this place, it was to let my girl go after a long battle with complications due to Diabetes. While the vets here are absolutely amazing, their administrative staff need a thorough talking to. As I brought in my girl for this already difficult decision, when the 2nd admin came to the front, they only giggled and laughed about whatever topic, while i sat there holding in my tears. Terrible admins, wonderful vets. ..................... Dr. Mozes was professional, and great with my dog. All of us were treated with respect, and was very knowledgeable and understanding. Other staff were also helpful and kind, and offered any assistance they could. All costs were fair, especially considering it's an after-hours hospital. Many thanks.
I called to see if they carried dog conditioner and was told they did. On arrival they were rude and didn't have what they claimed to carry. No help and wasted my time. I was going to bring my dogs and cats here but not now
Today was the last straw for this place. Our Frenchie recently suffered a severe injury and we took him to Willowdale to help us express him after we were unsuccessful at home after multiple efforts. Amazingly, the doctor we saw could not only NOT BE ABLE TO EXPRESS HIM, she kept saying I don’t know where his bladder is. Proceeded to leave us for 10 minutes while she asked someone and then came back to tell us his temperature is normal. Seriously, seriously! You can’t locate a dogs bladder and have no opinion on what to do. Shameful. Oh and of course, we had to pay for the “consultation” of baloney. Shame on you willowdale, we are never ever returning to your “nothing but looking for money” operation.
So expensive and unprofessional!
Very clean and professional. 2 starts for its overpricing in every possible product and service provided.
I don't usually write reviews but felt that I should chime in on what everyone else is saying. I woke up in the middle of the night last week to find that my cat Frodo Baggins had vomitted in 6 places in my house, 4 of which were bile with some blood. I immediately called this vet as they were the closest 24 hour vet available. They were happy to see my cat and within an hour I was sitting in front of the vet talking about what could be wrong. He presented me with a $1,500 estimate for overnight observation, tests and treatment. I kept calling back for updates and was surprised to find that my cat was acting "hostile" and they had to sedate him. My cat has been boarded and hospitalized before and I have never had an issue, so this was very surprising to me. He did eat some food over the night and I was allowed to pick him up the next day. They never figure out what was wrong but suggested we change his food to a more gastro-friendly food and give him some Pepcid for 5 days. Today is day 5 and he seems to be doing okay. My real issue is with the condition Frodo was in when I picked up from the vet, as they somehow managed (in 24 hours) to completely traumatize my cat. He was returned to me with leaking eyes, and completely covered in his own urine and feces. They said they didn't try to clean him because he was "hostile". When he saw me his eyes lit up immediately but when the vet poked his head into the cage, my cat hissed at him. My cat is 6 years old I have never seen him his in his entire life. He has been extra cuddly and friendly and even more friendly with the dog, I think in a desperate effort to make sure he isn't returned to the vet. I won't complain about the price because like most good pet owners I would spend anything to make my cat healthy again. However, the next time I find myself in an overnight emergency, this is not the vet I will return to. I can't say for sure what happened in those 24 hours but I do not think my cat was treated in the manner he is accustomed to, and I am just happy he's at home now and I have learned a valuable lesson about taking reviews more seriously.
The worst clinic. They Kill your pet. Amateur practice nurses n surgeon who don't know what they are doing
Terrible service. Don’t go there if you really have an emergency situation. They will just ignore you, so you put your pet at risk.
This is the worst vet I have ever taken my dog. The customer experience here is a zero out of 10.
When a customer asks the front desk nicely about the results of checking, instead of saying “I don’t know” rudely, she might want to nicely say “let me confirm with the technician for you” or at least a smile “sorry I’m not sure about that”
I've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Hall. My cat went in with itchy, red skin and loss of hair, and she recommended we skip a bunch of tests (that wouldn't really help the diagnosis anyway) and go straight to a biopsy. Yes, it was expensive (vet services usually are - the ones I've gone to that have been cheaper insist on running excessive unnecessary tests) but it told us what was wrong. We were then given choices (with varying costs) of how to pursue treatment and management of the condition (with her recommendations). She was also fantastic, attentive, informative and quick to call back with information when I took my pet rabbit in with a case of snuffles. I've also sat in on another appointment with a family member for their animal with another vet (can't recall the name), and while the vet was nice enough didn't really give any alternatives treatments for the problem (just a prescription of 20 pills for $50). I don't know if this is because there wasn't anything else, or what, but when said family member called inquiring about alternatives the vet still hasn't called back.
DO NOT GO HERE... This place is purely a money grab, praying on desperate, naive pet owners that will pay anything for a seed of hope. They diagnosed my cat with some sort of acute illness and wanted to charge me $2000+ to keep it there for two weeks. I brought it to my friend's vet at Tower Drive Animal Clinic who read the report and concluded that it was a chronic illness. Do not go here. Believe in the negative reviews you read. They are true.
they just care about money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The worst hospital EVER. Hospital? More like scammers.
I have never been to a worse clinic. In the past they performed procedures that I did not authorize. My latest experience, in September 2020 was not good either. I was happy that they were willing to see a stray on the weekend (my vet wouldn't as they were unsure how the cat would react), but I paid for a procedure that I was later unable to complete (I could not collect a stool sample as the cat would not stay in the house). I am still waiting FIVE MONTHS LATER for a refund. They were willing to take my money right away, but I can't to get it back! On top of this, they said the cat had polyps in his nose; a completely incorrect diagnosis. It was an infection easily cleared up with antibiotics (though he does also have FIV).
The doctor here is pretty good! They provided right treatment to my dog and they are very nice and responsible. However some the nurse there really need more training on customer service, there was a mid age white lady that works the afternoon shift is very rude and impatient, I was only trying to figure out the price of the different size ointment, but I received very unclear explanation with an attitude.
Some doctors in this hospital are really money focused. The only word I can see from their eyes is "$$$" although they pretended to be friendly. I won't recommend this hospital to any of my friends.
I have been bringing my dog to Willowdale animal hospital since he was a pup. Of all the doctors my dog has seen, I have only trusted 2 doctors (Dr. Krebs and Dr. Bloom). They are honest and I feel that they do truly care about the well being of your pet. Many people say that they try to push tests or insurance. I felt that way in the beginning until I met Dr. Krebs. She tells it to you straight - worst case scenario this is how much a procedure will cost. I appreciate that so atleast I won't receive a bill I didn't expect at the end of the visit. She never pushed insurance but only suggested it. I waited 5 years before I decided to make a leap for insurance and I couldn't be any more happier. Only wished I got it sooner. For those thinking about it, get it early on so that in the event of recurring problems, like ear infections, insurance will cover it....from experience. Dr. Krebs and the staff are all friendly and know me so atleast we don't feel like another number. The only bad thing about this place are wait times and parking. Wait times are long so be expected to be there for atleast an hour. Parking is horrendous. To get to parking in back only one vehicle can fit. Construction next door doesn't help with boards on fence blocking view of sidewalk.
not recommend this place, have been being dealing with them more than 1 year, decide to find other place which would be more reasonable for the cost. their service is good except every time I need to wait at least for 20 mins when appointment being scheduled, even though doesn't seem to be busy. I might be wrong, my feeling is that they care more about the cross sell rather than your pet itself. the consultation fee every time is 97.43. I went there for vaccine, doctor wants to check tooth for my dog. she is not cooperative, you need to pay consultation fee, doctor give tablet and schedule for next time, next time when I came, another consultation fee, avoid going, they try to reschedule for next time, and consultation fee for ever, I might able to afford In the beginning, not able to able to afford for ever, I know people mentioned you should not have a dog if you are not able to afford. just this is totally over my budgeyt and expection. you can go there if you do not mind rip you off, thanks
Caring and compassionate staff.
do yourself/your pet a favor and go elsewhere. I beg to differ with the positive reviews for Willowdale Animal Hospital and I will tell you why. I came here out of necessity as they are 24 hours, close to home and my cat was bleeding after going bathroom. My cat was seen by Dr. Horatiu Petrut and he is simply awful, unsympathetic and all about the $$$. He did not ask about my cats history, habits, medical past, diet, etc. He took him to the back and returned later with some pictures of my cat who was being pinned down and stressed out looking all to take pictures of something i already knew!? He was going over options, the price range varied from $800 - $2000+ a night and as he was writing quotes he kept looking at my husband and I seeing how we were reacting to his quotes, he would write the quotes based upon our expressions/reactions as we are not rich by all means so funds are limited. Dr. Horatiu Petrut was simply trying to stretch out every dollar he could get out of us. Blood work needed to be done and either they did not have enough staff or they simply are not professional, but they said my cat was "too strong" and they had to sedate him to get blood work..sedation= more money. at this point they advised i go home and they would call me accordingly...hours went by and i did not receive a call. I called and the lady at reception sounded panicked, she said my cat did not handle the first sedation well because it was hard for the vets to get a hold of him so they sedated him again and said they wont charge me for second sedation. least they could have done is call me to tell him they screwed up. the fact they had to sedate him twice to get bloodwork is absurd. Dr. Horatiu Petrut then said he may have cancer but thinks he has pancreatitis but needed to run mores tests (xrays etc) to know for sure. they were trying to keep him over night which was going to cost $2000 a night but my gut feeling was telling me to take him home when he wakes up and i am so glad i did. he came home, was drugged up, they tied his tail with some sort of bandage (annoying to take off) and gave me some antibiotics/codeine. a week went by and he was off his meds so we called Dr. Horatiu Petrut and gave him and update and he was surprised to hear my cat was doing so well and said its a good thing i brought him home. as a pet owner you need to listen to your gut feeling and not the vets advice all the time. 5-6 months have gone by and unfortunately my cat is not doing well again, so this time i took him to another 24 hour clinic called Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic and found out my cat does NOT have cancer or pancreatitis , rather he simply needed to change his diet to a special Veterinary brand. basically Willowdale took my money, couldn't care less about cats (maybe they are dog ppl) and wrongfully diagnosed my cat. there are 24 hours vets that care and are more feasible so never going back to willowdale again. good riddance Dr. Petrut!!
Terrible, traumatic experience here. I actually wrote a novel but lost it all as I exceeded the character limit. Maybe it's for the best. I'll just say this. Our sweet girl suffered more than was necessary because we brought her here one day. We will never forgive ourselves. And never forgive this so-called animal hospital. They are negligent, unethical, and unprofessional on so many levels. Causing more harm than good. It's not even about the money, not for us. Though it's absolutely true what others are saying about how much this place tries to overcharge you. For us, it has more to do with their behaviour. What they did to our girl. We know without a doubt other vets would not have been so callous in their approach. I'm disgusted and saddened every time I think about that experience. Our baby has since passed, after living a full and happy 13 years with us. I just wish we could have spared her this awful experience. Please, I have no other reason to write this review, a long while after the fact, than to warn you if you're considering going here. I regret not writing it sooner - I wanted to move past it. But it's weighing heavily on my conscience. There are many more practices out there you can trust with your precious family members.
Dr Sheehan took excellent care of my 18 year old cat Mystic. He does regular follow up and is practical and down to earth in his approach. Mystic is feeling much better, back to power napping and snuggling. Very good veterinarian.
It’s not even 24 hours. Wasted time.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Bloom and his entire staff. Dr. Bloom has been very instrumental in providing excellent care for my beautiful fury baby Canelita. He is very knowledgeable, friendly does not rush the appointment (which I like), and most important he makes sure we fully understand everything he is doing and the reasoning behind it. We highly recommend Willowdale Animal Hospital and Dr Bloom.
Some of the reviews really amaze me because it goes to show people do not respect the fact that veterinarians need to earn a living and it is not an on demand service where as soon as you walk in, you will be seen. just like a regular human hospital or doctor's office, there are wait times and priorities, and that does not reduce the quality of the veterinary care received. yes, veterinary care is expensive, but simply ask for a breakdown of the price and where it comes from and they will provide it to you. examinations and consaultations will cost money because they are using the veterinarians time and skills, and it is certainly not stress free. keep in mind without healthcare, regular doctor consaultations cost similar amounts people often accuse the vet of ripping them off without actually understanding the price breakdown, etc. dr mozes is an incredibly caring and smart vet with amazing people skills.while it was very expensive, she made sure we understood the price breakdown and that we were okay with it. we appreciated all the time and patience she put into helping our dog get better. thank you dr mozes! we appreciate your help and so does our dog , who is now doing so much better!
I was sketching out from the reviews but had a great experience. Fair price, great advise given. Dr Lee was very patient explaining everything.
I’m here to show suooort for Willowdale veterinarians and staff. There is ALWAYS more to a story like this and the news story is as highly biased. Having the owner surrender the dog was an act of compassion. Stop cyber bullying this hospital!
I took my yorkie Callie to Willowdale Animal Hospital 6monts ago. Today was our 2nd visit. I must say I was very impressed with the service from Dr Bloom and his staff. The hospital has music in every room to make your pet's experience a relaxed one. Callie's name was on a mat with a treat as we entered the exam room. Wow. I've visited other vets before and none compares to this . Thanks Dr Bloom. Vanette
My guinea pig was dehydrated and had diarrhea. They patched him up. Minimal wait in line. We can book appointment even half an hour before. And they have very nice staff that make us feel reassured. Thanks!
Had an appointment today at 3:40. Due to Covid protocols, needed to phone upon arrival. The receptionist picks up and asks "is this an emergency, or can I put you on hold?" I reply that it is okay to put me on hold. Over 6 minutes later no one has come back, so I hang up and call back. The receptionist picks up and asks "is this an emergency, or can I put you on hold?" And I say "I have already been on hold for over 6 minutes, so NO, it is not okay to put me on hold. I am here for an appointment." She takes my dog's name, and tells me that a doctor will call me back (as is their protocol). After waiting another 1/2 hour with no call, I decide to leave. 5 minutes later I receive a call from my husband. The doctor did call - OUR HOME PHONE! Because that is the number they have on file. IF you have a protocol that a doctor is supposed to call you back on your cell, you should probably have a system/receptionist that is smart enough to ask for the cell # to call. And if they not smart about something simple like this, it makes me a little scared about how smart they are about caring for our pets... Not that it would have mattered if the doctor had called my cell, because after 45 minutes of waiting, I was done.
Dr. Karen Hung took care of our puppy Milo when we took him last Friday night to this hospital. She's very detailed and looked into possible reasons why Milo was vomiting & having diarrhea, gave us options on what to do, and was very caring towards him and very friendly. We would have changed vet if she's not that far from us. Thank you so much, Dr Hung for making Milo better!!
I payed for examination and they supposed to give us the treatment based upon my dogs issue, after two weeks later the doctor did not fix him and also I & my husband have worm in our pop too now. The doctor asked us to pay again to treat again. I love my dog but they did not care about that, they just care about money. Do not waste your money in this hospital. They were rude and destroyed my day and money.
My dog Shary was feeling very ill and I had to bring him in on Sunday September 8 at about 3 or 4 am. The doctor that took care of Shary was Dr Cristian Costan. He was very frank and open about the issue (bloat) and the possible treatment plans. Unfortunately due to Shary's advanced age (nearly 12 years old) and being a German Shepherd even if we proceeded with surgery to alleviate the bloat he might not have made it or his quality of life would not have been what it should have. My mother and I made the difficult decision to euthanize him. It is one of the hardest things I have had to do. It was even harder because this was my father's dog and I lost him too not too long ago (22 months ago). So it felt like life was giving me two liver shots so close to one another. Yet, even though it was a tough choice I felt I owed that to Shary. We loved that dog with all our hearts and he was part of our family. I only wish I acted quick enough to minimize pain, it's the least I could do for my friend. The care and understanding my mother and I received from the doctor and the receptionist was great. From the bottom of our hearts we thank them and their patients are lucky to have people like them care for them.
My review is 0 stars but no such option. I have brought my cat there with a lump behind his ear they have charged me for examination and consultation $84 after tax and could not even tell what it looks like; on the invoice haven't put the doctors name who was examining him (asian woman). I got an estimate of $1700-$2,669 when they can't tell what am I dealing with, the vet suggested putting my can to sleep for examination(blood test and urine test) because she was scared he's going to bite her. Also because his old they gave me an estimate of $200 for medication after surgery(pain killers) first of all why are we talking about surgery when she doesn't know what is behind his ear and second if he's that old and he needs pain killers after surgery, why would they try putting him to sleep twice, it is not right and too much stress on a heart for a 16 year old cat. Also The vet promised to get me second option cheaper was gone for 30 min to print in out and came back with even higher number than the first one, and I saw on computer it was suppose to be $1300. SCAMMERS they do not care about your animal at all and what is best for him, they only think how to get more money out of you. p.s. Do a favour to your pet and bring him somewhere else.!!!!
Dr Bloom has been taking care of my dog since he was a puppy. Very professional and will not overload your bill with unnecessary charges. Passion and hard work always, neutering procedure was amazing and regular checkups as well!
Great
I experienced, for the first time, rather serious and worrying symptoms from my dog- bleeding stool and vomitting and decided to take him to the nearest overnight emergency hospital, which was willowdale animal hospital. I was rather skeptical of the hospital due to the large number of 1 star reviews and decided to use my first pet emergency as a trial to see whether the 1 star reviews were justified or not. My conclusion is that the willowdale animal hospital has a set agenda, and that is to hospitalize your dog, sedate them for x-ray imagery and overall charge you as much as much as possible for a vet visit. I clearly told both vets that I will be visiting another hospital to compare rates and here is the differences I noted. 1. Revisit fee: I was charged an emergency consultation fee (which is normal) BUT the willowdale vet said if I choose to revisit the same night they will charge me the fee all over again in an attempt to pressure me to stay and follow their treatment procedure. This did not occur at the Toronto Emer. Vet as they offered to forgo the consultation fee if I leave and revisit within 24 hours. 2. Flexibility: At the Toronto vet. emergency hospital I was given the option to have my dog stay overnight in which they charge me a hospitalization fee/iv fee/imaging fee approx $1300 or attempt to continue treatment at home for less than 1/3 the price- only charging me for treatment/medicine/fluids. The vet even suggested due to the cheery mood of my dog that hospitalization is not necessary and to her best medical judgement that I continue treatment at home. I chose that option and asked for blood-works (which she even said was not necessary) to ensure I get a better overall understanding of my dogs cholesterol levels (my own personal choice). There was a mention of an x-ray but only as a last resort, an ultrasound was suggested initially but the vet deemed it unecessary due to the cheery mood of my dog. There was no mention of sedation. At the willowdale vet they did not give me both options, they offered the hospitalization for approx $1600 until I mentioned I will be leaving to compare rates in which the vet THEN offered me the treatment at home option which he outlined with his pen in the photo attached. They also suggested sedation for x-ray photography. 3. Knowledge/honesty: both vets were very knowledgeable and honest and I would not blame the vet at willowdale for what he suggested- it almost felt like there is an agenda given to caring vets at willowdale to push for hospitalization and extra procedures. The vet at willowdale went even the extra mile and wrote down what the possible illnesses could be, which the vet at the Toronto hospital also confirmed as correct. Overall although the Toronto Veterinary emergency hospital was much father to my house I would recommend it over the willowdale hospital as the willowdale hospital seems to have a set agenda in approaching every patient.
This was our cats second vet visit in 1 week. The initial one we went to was closed so we came to Willowdale Animal Hospital. The staff at Willowdale was amazing, the vet was informative, patient, returned our calls immediately, and was truly concerned for our cat. She helped us find the solution for out cats problem. I highly recommend them for your pets.
I wouldn't trust anyone else with our puppy, Riley! The Willowdale team are incredible and the care they provide is a true testament to the service they are committed to providing to their customers. They are so friendly and patient. I would highly recommend to any pet owners who want to ensure they are receiving the best service!
I spent 400 dollar more for my first visit since they recommended a blood test. Bad doctor doesn't even figure out what's the problem but rather ask you if you are interested in different kinds of high priced examinations
24 hour vet for emergencies
Great professional staff and service
I’ve never been to this clinic and haven’t met any of the employees. However, they do not deserve to have their livelihoods threatened by people giving out 0 star reviews and spewing hate and vitriol based off a local news story. Hang in there guys.
I woke up from my sleep at 2:30am to see my poor dog Peanut had swelling under his eye with blood and pus spewing out of it. I called in and the phone was answered right away, they asked me the basic details and Peanut and I hoped into the car and drove straight over. As soon as I arrived I was checked in and brought into one of the rooms and Peanut was being examined all in about 15 minutes. The staff was very friendly although I don't remember anybody's name but there was a nice Filipino man and a two different ladies at the front. I never met the Doctor who performed Peanuts tooth extractions but she seemed very friendly over the phone when we spoke and took the time to break everything down for me. It cost me less than the maximum that they quoted initially which was great. They even took car of Peanuts nails and knots around his paws. I'll definitely be returning in the future for Peanuts needs as I felt that their first priority was to have my little guy looked after. MY experience was fantastic and the Filipino man even suggested a couple of alternate routes that I could take if I wasn't financial ready to have all the work done upfront but it was unnecessary as I was ready to pay for everything. Peanut was back to me the next day and I'd say that's pretty good and hassle free seeing as I brought him in at 2:30am on a Saturday night.
Took amazing care of my Musty! Me and my dad cried like babies putting him down, but they were such amzaing people it really helped. Thank you so much!
I had to put down my Ruby of 14 years. The experience was very provincial and humane, I couldn't have gone through with it without them. Thank you.
This hospital truly is the best . My kitten Toby almost died one night and after rushing him to this hospital during an emergency , they did everything possible to save him and because of them my kitten is alive and getting better at home. I was so certain my little guy wasn't going to make it. Dr.hung is a wonderful doctor she did an amazing job saving Toby and dr. Wang did a great job at taking care of him when dr.hung was away . Really friendly staff , amazing doctors . The people at this hospital actually really care about the pets and you . The doctors did everything they could to help me out financially and to help out Toby medically . I recommend this hospital to everybody , it's 24hours as well which is great , you can check in on your pets any hour of the day for updates . Thank you willowdale ! ????
Our cat Simba , who had kidney failure and existing heart condition was given very good care and attention. Dr. Horatio Petrut , Dr. Carol Lee , Dr. Michelle Azan Backx were very pleasant, took utmost care of Simba and kept us informed at regular intervals. Cost incurred was very reasonable and I realized that our regular vet was a lot more expensive ! I am very happy with their facilities, staff and highly recommend this hospital .
Horrible horrible money grabbers. Took my dog in for a skin condition. They wanted to charge me an additional $50 to show me how to clean my dogs ears wth the ear cleaner. I said NO I can read the instructions. They told me to return in a week for a recheck but planned to charge me another $85 exam (walk thru the door fee) , which we know should be included wth the initial exam fee. Thank goodness I asked if there wud be a charge for them to show me how to clean my dogs ears and if there wud be another exam fee on my return visit...becuz they didn't tell me this. Needless to say I didn't return. High prices, overly dramatic fake shows of attention to the pet, tried to gouge me at every turn
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS VET CLINIC! They don't care about animals. They care about how much they can make off you. Very rude staff. My cat had a cracked tooth to which they said it wasn't serious. The pulp was indeed exposed. I had to remove the tooth and they wanted my cat to wait 3 weeks to perform the surgery. They even called VEC to inform them not to perform the emergency service because it was not an emergency. My overweight cat was not eating. He went into fatty liver disease and because of this all the problems started to happen to him. Stay very clear of this vet. You will end up saving your animals health and wallet! This clinic is money hungry. Try it for yourself and you will see!
I am sure that if you do not have exotic pets you should be fine but otherwise they are just an overpriced referral clinic. I spent close to $500.00 to be referred to someone else for my ferrets. Make sure that you know 100% what they are capable of before going. The staff are friendly enough but then again I would be also knowing what 40 minutes will make me! A BIG FAIL!!! I will be sharing this on facebook also.
Very bad vet office. If you see 5 star reviews with 1 or 2 reviews please take with a grain of salt. They may not be real. Trust me based on my experience all the negative reviews seem to be a pattern and are not isolated.
I have been taking my furby son Toby to Willowdale Animal Clinic for about 3 years now, but I have been a client there off nd on for over 15 years. Toby, my 16 year old Cornish Rex was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 3 years ago. Dr. Bloom, we used to call him Dr B, but we changed his name to Dr. A. because I remember my mother saying an A is always better than B. Dr. A. is a very caring Vet whose bedside manner is very comforting and his knowledge is fantastic. Every time we visit the clinic, we discuss the costs before any procedure and discuss any alternatives. I have found their fees are very reasonable and all of the tests have be worth the expense to keep my little buddy well. Dr. A. actually called me from London England while at a conference to discuss Toby's recent blood work. Wow, what dedication to Toby's welfare. I highly recommend VCA Willowdale Animal Clinic for all of your furby kids medical needs. I believe they are strait shooters who are there for their love of animals, and being open 24/7 does not hurt either. We can visit when it is most convenient for us. Larry and Toby
Once again I would like to thank Dr Jonathan Bloom and his staff for taking excellent care of Riley. I have been a client of the Willowdale Animal Hospital since 2001. I truly am thrilled to know that they are available whenever needed. Back in July they saved our little “mans “ life. I agree that sometimes we have to wait, and the Drs request tests that may seem excessive and therefore unnecessary. However, Willowdale practices a PROACTIVE model of healthcare and therefore suggests these tests so they have an overall picture of your pets health. They are able to detect subtle changes in your pet over time. I appreciate and value this Proactive model of health care. I believe that the proactive versus the reactive model of pet care saves money over the lifetime of pets. I would also like to thank Dr Bloom and his staff for ensuring that Willowdale has remained open during the Covid 19 crisis. Your efforts and enhanced protocols to ensure the safety of the clients, pets and staff are greatly appreciated.
They only talk about money, they are money grabbers. They try to play with your emotions to see how weak you are about your pet. So, then slowly proceed to how much it can cost to you to heal your pet. If I could I would give this veterinary hospital 0 stars! They do not care about healing your pet as they are blinded by greed and they have 0 ethics about their profession. We walked in the clinic with a very sick cat and they tried charging us $1000+ and they told us that they couldn't guarantee his health to get better despite the massive amount of money they asked us for. Guess what! Our cat healed with some water and syringe fed baby food and some apple cider vinegar. Overall this cost us less than $10. NOW COMPARE THAT TO THE WHOPPING TOTAL OF $1000. Please have some mercy for the people who are not able to figure out why their pets are sick. We became better vets than the vets were in the hospital in less than 30 minutes!
When u bring u pets here.It took 500 bucks deposit and doing nothing. I been waiting here with my dog for two hours. They only care about money.
I boarded my dog for a month at Willowdale Animal Hospital. The team did a great job taking care of my dog. They used a lot of effective calming techniques. I recommend Willowdale Animal Hospital for boarding or regular care.
The staff and doctors at Willowdale Animal Hospital were incredibly understanding and helpful during the last months of my cat's life. They were caring and genuine, and really seem to love animals. The convenience of a 24-hour, 7-days per week hospital with many services on site is valuable when you're stressed and dealing with an emergency. I want to thank them for being so kind and sweet to my old guy, and for the doctor who took the trouble to call me even from home.
We've had positive experiences here for our rabbit.
Yesterday I had to bring my cat Mr jinx to willowdale animal hospital get put down,he has been in our family for twenty years, He was a amazing cat, the people who work at willowdale hospital was just amazing. We got in they offered us a cup of coffee, They was very compassionate to us and they was very sorry for our lost. Thank you to all of you specially Dr Stefanie Shatsky
If you honestly want the best for your pet, stay away from this hospital.
Luna and I couldn't see our regular vet, but she had an ear infection that needed to be looked at right away! As a result, I took the first appointment available else where. And boy let me tell you, I am surely happy I did that just that! I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Karen Hung, who I believe is an amazing Veterinarian, with great knowledge and experience, but most importantly she has PEOPLE SKILLS. From the receptionists, to support staff who I interacted with at Willowdale where extremely helpful and supportive. It felt like a home away from home, although we were only there for a short time period. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am happy and proud to announce that I will be transferring my dog's files over and we have found a vet! One that is makes us feel comfortable, provides useful information and especially takes good care of my pup. Without that feeling of being rushed or misunderstood, I was able to ask any questions/concerns and left this facility feeling at ease and certain of future visits! Corina and Luna (:
Dr. Bloom is the worst vet I've ever taken a pet to see. This guy is a crook and only cares about milking as much money out of you as he can, WITHOUT even providing you proper insight of what's going on with your pet. He kept pushing for unnecessary treatment and wouldn't discuss prices of each procedure. He kept saying the price will be in the paper work. After spending 500 dollars on blood work, he had NO new information for me regarding my pet's health. Even though he bragged about how many years experience he has and how he's seen "EVERYTHING". Ive never felt so taken advantage of, and now I have to take my pet elsewhere and spend more money. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO SEE DR BLOOM!!!!
So my dog has been going here since he was born (11 years). He’s been healthy so we haven’t brought him in recently for a checkup (money grab by these guys). By the way, it doesn’t matter how often you go in, you always have to pay a consultation fee. When we called in for boarding yesterday, they told us because we have not brought him in for a cash grab (check up) recently, he is no longer consider a valued client and therefore we could not board him there. Great service guys!! A client of 11 years is no longer a valued client! You also change your boarding fees from $25 to $50 and ripping every client off by your amazing up selling skills. Take advantage of people when they are vulnerable! Funny your website says: “Your pets are always there for you, so we are always here for them.” I think it should say “Your pets are always there for you, so we are always here for them as long as you leave your wallet wide open..” This hospital has gone downhill since the departure of Dr Nicalaou.
They are amazing!! Very caring staff
We have been a client of Willowdale Animal Hospital for over 4 years now. Dr. CIndy Krebs has been thorough and helpful in the care of our Golden Labrador Hitch. As Hitch is a Service Dog, we visit the clinic often for routine care and travel documents. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. Being a 24 hr clinic helps with apppintments in a world with a busy family.
This clinic used to be a vital part of the pet-owning Willowdale community . While I had issues in the past with a certain Dr. , they could always be relied upon to see your sick pet at the last minute, day or night. Now they have significantly reduced their hours, and won’t take last minute appointments or walk ins for urgent care. Pet care issues can’t always be scheduled well in advance (especially the ones that need it the most) and losing the access to this type of care in the neighborhood is a real shame. They will refer you to an emergency hospital, but doing that puts strain on the few hospitals who offer this service , meaning longer wait times , and the necessity to even turn away patients. With more people than ever getting pets during Covid you would think that pet medicine and care would be more readily available not less
HORRIBLE. The veterinarian we saw was a yawning mess. Couldn't answer simple questions about the issue at hand and didn't give us a diagnosis. Said the $72 charge for for a 'physical exam' but couldn't provide us with any sort of information based on the information collected. He didn't even finish the complete exam before breaking down the prices for further procedures. We had to ask him why he hadn't taken my cats temperature. Sure enough he said he wasn't done the examination and took my cat to another room, a good 30 mins into the visit. A guest arguing with the rude receptionist should was a pretty good over view of the hospital.
I have had an excellent experience with everyone at the Willowdale Animal Hospital. In particular, I want to thank Rebecca, the technician who went beyond the call of duty to help my little cat Zia.
I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because Dr.Lee is so sweet and caring. I recently brought my cat in to see Dr.Moses for spay and mammory mass removal surgery. Dr.Moses did not even try to touch my cat and told me they would have to sedate her for examination, saying that she didnt want to get hurt by an anxious cat. Yesterday, I spoke with Dr. Moses over the phone about the pre-op xray and she told me the price is $290. I specifically asked if the price included the sedation for xray. Dr.Moses told me word to word 'yes $290 includes the xray and sedation'. So i brought my cat in for an appointment with Dr. Lee today, who handled the cat much better and seemed genuinely caring by the way, and was told that the $290 xray fee does not include sedation and sedation was over $100 extra. When I told her about my phone conversation with Dr.Moses, Dr.Lee explained the doctors cannot exempt or change the price as all the quotes are generated by the computer. I was obviously frustrated that I was misinformed by a doctor who initially examined my pet but agreed to the $708 cost since pre-op xray is a necessary prereq for a surgery. When I went to the receptionist to put down $708 deposit, the receptionist charged me $750. When I asked her why she was charging me more, she pointed to $7.50 Dr.Lee wrote down for an oral sedative. I told her that was $7.50 and not $750, she got really defensive and rudely and loudly said 'okay you can put down $700 instead of $750 if it's that big of a deal.' and treated me as if i didn't know the definition of deposit. I told her that yes it is kind of big of a deal because everyone in this hospital gives me a different quote and when i actually come in, they end up charging me wayyyyy more than what they quoted. Then she claimed that they dont give quotes over the phone. Umm.. i was given the quote by the doctor herself over the phone lol. Point is try to avoid going to this clinic if you can. Dr.Lee is super nice and caring but i'm not too sure about other doctors and staffs. There are plenty of vet clinics where all doctors and staffs are caring and straightforward about the costs. I see a lot of reviews saying that this clinic is overpriced and is out to grab as much as they can out of your pocket when you are most vulnerable. I could not agree more.
I called them last night my kitten was sick I sat on the phone while they transferred me around to person after person while on the phone waiting to see if they could help me my kitten passed away and they said cause I had no money they wouldn't be able to help me I think this is wrong these people are suppose to care about animals and yet they will never help the ones in need!
THIS CLINIC SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS FOR EMERGENCY CARE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET. I took my dog with a leg injury to the clinic on a weekend and no one at this clinic could help with effective treatment. Either through inexperience or incompetence, the dog languished here for two days before I could get him out of there. Not before the staff used various tactics to drive the billing to an average of over $1,200 per day. As a lay person, I suggested putting a splint and bandaging on the dog's leg. This suggestion was dismissed in favour of referring the case to an affiliated clinic for the following Tuesday - for orthopaedic surgery at an estimated cost of between $4,500 and $6,000. When my vet referred me to a competent clinic, the procedure followed was as I had originally advocated and our dog has been able to mend well. Lesson learned. What a personal disappointment and, more importantly, an unnecessary delay in providing effective treatment for my dog.
This vet clinic is an absolute joke. I tried getting information from them while out of town and they wouldn’t provide any information and didn’t know anything. My dog requires a monthly shot to stay alive and they were the worst and had no concern to help my dog during a time that was already stressful. Do not take your dog here.
They don’t care about your pet at all. It is super expensive and the attention is really bad. I do not recommend
People's inability to think critically will never surprise me. From what I understand, a veterinarian can not treat an owned animal without the owner's consent to treatment... consent includes PAYING. THE. BILL. What likely happened in this case is in order for the dog to receive the treatment it needed without the owner's consent (ie: without payment) the dog would have had to become owned by the clinic (hence the option to surrender). I'm sure there's a lot of clinics out there that would have let the owner walk away with the dog in distress, take the dog to the pound, or euthanize the dog instead of offer the opportunity to have the dog saved with the stipulation that the dog be surrendered to the clinic. Sounds like the owner wanted to have the surgery done on the vet's dime and now get to take the dog back? Since when does life work like that? You can't pay your mortgage - your house gets taken away, you can't make your car payments, your car gets taken away... Sure 8K is a lot of money... why did an owner of a 4 month old puppy not have pet insurance? The dog is likely now going to need follow up care etc. and let me guess, someone else should pay for that too? Hopefully they adopt the dog out to someone who will actually pay to have that done
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BRING YOUR PET HERE, THE BAD RATING AND REVIEWS ARE JUSTIFIED! MONEY GRUBBERS WHO PREY ON PEOPLE'S EMOTION. My dog was acting very strange so I brought her to this clinic since it's a 5 min walk from my place. They said they need to scan her which would cost $800, I was desperate so I said ok. They told me it would take a while and that I should just go back home and they would call me when they were finished. I stayed and 10 minutes later my dog was dead. I had already paid for the scan and considering the fact that they told me to go home means to me that they were either busy or the scan takes a while to prepare for, either way 10 mins later my dog was dead and I highly doubt that they performed the $800 task I paid them to do. I also speculate that as soon as they saw my dog they knew what was coming and instead let her suffer on for another 15 minutes so they could profit almost 1000 dollars for the 20 mins I was there. My reason to believe this is the fact that I researched the symptoms of my dog after the fact and discovered that the consensus is almost unanimous that those symptoms are a death sentence and any animal suffering them should be put down.. not scanned. There are really only TWO options here, they either looked at my dog and knew it was dying and suffering and instead of advising me to put her down they told me she needs a scan to milk a months rent out of me OR they are simply not professional. Bringing your sick pet here would be doing it a disservice, all these people care about is money, and I am not so naive to think that vets are not a for profit business and i understand that I agreed to pay $800, but they truly lack human decency and I truly believe they let my poor dog lay there in pain longer than she had to just so they could make money off me... any rookie vet would have known to put her down.. not them though, not before they could charge me. I sincerely wish I could go back in time and not take my dog there.. it has a 2.7 rating for a GOOD REASON.
Would not recommend bringing any animal here, they not only take advantage of there customers but they charge you for things you’ve never asked for, my boyfriend has been taking his dogs here for over 7 years and can not believe how badly this practice has gone down hill, there is no communication between there vets and vet techs, there vet techs are not trained properly and when asked a question they give you the wrong answer, I had a horrible experience yesterday trying to receive my dogs flea and tick medication they handed me the wrong medication and charged me for something I had never even asked for, also refusing to take the medication back or even refund my money or even provide me with the proper medication promised they then proceeded to tell me that I’m supposed to tell the “vet tech” what my dog needs, I myself have never gone to school to be a vet tech I was under the understanding that the vet techs are supposed to do there job and also know what medications do what, this practice tried to charge me $1200 to neuter my dog, they also charged my boyfriend for bloodwork on his dog that never had to be done, we have two dogs under two totally separate files but you still mix our dogs up there lack of communication and organization here is disgusting and after my last experience I will never be taking my dogs or recommending this vet practice to anyone, they care merely about the pets or the owners and simply care about the money
Terrible experience. This is by far the most unorganized hospital I’ve been to. They booked an appointment for 3:20 PM . When we arrived the doctor told us it will aprox 30 minutes of waiting . However 15 minutes after when we were waiting in the parking lot we got a call from the secretary who told it will be minimum another 1 hour of waiting . I have told her we will go for a coffe and come back before , or she can call us and let us know if they can see us anything time sooner . We left the parking lot and planned on coming back before an hour . Another secretary called us back after 40 minutes and said that we had to wait another 3 HOURS for the next appointment as the doctors who supposed to see our pet had left . Unfortunately nobody from entire clinic had called us and notified - we were 2 minutes away ) The secretary did not care about the time we wasted and especially the health of our pet
Please !!! always ask for a second opinion before design to put your pet to sleep !! My little dog got hit by a car and was treated here after hours on the weekend. They checked on him very fast and gave him pain medication and treated him from shock. The thing is after X-ray the doctor said he got broken neck and the nerve is cut off totally as he lost the deep pain sensation on his feet. He said my dog is paralyzed from neck down and if we want we can drove an hour and send him for MRI in another city but still 0% OF RECOVERY AND RECOMMENDED TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP. My poor doggy tried very hard to show me he can still move very tiny little bit. We ask him if he wants to go home with us pls open the eyes and he did opened his eyes very big ! We stayed there for 3 hours and got a bill of close to 1000. He wants us to leave my dog there overnight but I dont have a good feeling and believed my dog would rather go home with us even he will die at home. The DOCTOR ASKED IF WE WANT TO DO BLOOD TEST BEFORE WE LEAVE, i was very upset about that, why would you do a test on him if u said he is going to die/put to sleep. of cause I said NO! After we went home, slowly he is able to move 3 of his leg with a little movement. 4 hours later I took him to a bigger hospital, which I didn't see it on google at the beginning, I should have sent him there first place. The doctor there checked on him and said he is responding on all the legs and the x-ray they took at the other hospital was not clear and my dog was not on the right position. After new one done she said my dog may have a disc compressed on the nerve need to see by neurologist in the morning. I can feel my dog likes there and agreed to have him there overnight. He was trying to turn by himself ! so today, after MRI they said no surgery needed but 1 leg may not improve over time. However he can go home tomorrow. One of the doctor there told me, if his nerve is totally cut off at the neck, then he won't be able to breath. OMG I am a nurse and I totally forget about the Central Nerve System. He is right !!! I am not trying to blame the doctor at the willowdale animal hospital but COME ON, STOP PUSHING US TO PAY MORE USELESS TEST and Please DONT TELL PEOPLE TO PUT THERE BELOVED FAMILY TO SLEEP SO EASILY ! my little one almost died because of the misdiagnosis so please ask for another advice first. I was googling this "clinic" while waiting for they to check. Thx for the comments and rating so I decided to check on another hospital. 2 stars because Dr.P did treat him for shock and his BP and temperature went back to normal. no more.
We have been going to willowdale animal hospital for almost ten years now....first with guinea pigs and now with our beagle abbey. Dr. Bloom has been great and even though we have moved across the city we still make the drive to go there for all our needs. Their fear free visit program is great, I have never seen animals so excited to be at the vet!
Excellent, caring staff!
(Translated) It's really not professional at all. . . (Original) 真的一点也不专业。。。
Moving to another Vet!!!! Willowdale is not the only Vet in the area. The Vets should actually be ashamed to work there. It's all about the $$$ and not the overall care for family pets. I have shared all my records with new Vet and we have been over charged and they have done test that are not needed. Look at their review score. 2.5!!!!!! Its not just me complaining. It's a trend.
It started off rocky for me with all these bad reviews but unfortunately you cannot choose when your pets get sick. I came in the other evening for my vomiting dog and had to wait OVER AN HOUR to be seen, it was very irritating. After consulting with the doctor and seeing the estimate I was amazed to see the prices in order to help my dog, especially if I was not guaranteed a proper diagnosis and that my dog would be cured. After discussing with my partner, we decided to keep him in hospital and in the end, i'm glad we did. The doctors and supporting staff that worked on my little Charlie were amazing. I did not get to speak with the doctor as I had hoped every time I called for the update but the nurses were all so helpful at reassuring me my little Charlie was doing well. 3 days later and after a large bill...i'm happy to say my little Charlie is happy and better than ever. We never did figured out what the cause was, but as long as hes safe and sound at home, i'm happy. Owning a pet is a responsibility I do not take lightly and unfortunately pet health care is not covered by OHIP, it would be nice if it was. There is no cost too high to have my pet back safe and healthy home with me.
Doctors are not focusing on how to heal my dog, but only care about how much my dog need to be charged and keep pushing me to ask questions ! Why I need to keep asking questions , I’m not showing my upset so that just mean I don’t care about my dog ! ? Why the doctor judge me? What you should do is to tell me how to heal my pet , not focusing on me ok? And adding many no useful program money , cost over 1000 dollars only for a x Ray ? You kidding me ? We moved to another one and only had 500 dollars for very efficient service and very satisfied , this Willowdale ? I never bring my pet back anymore !
If you are rich you don’t care how much they want you to spend then you can go there. Just have my pet go there two weeks ago did the exam and today when I just go there to pickup some medicine for my pet they charge me for the exam again it’s a $90 not $9. So be careful every time you wale in with your pet no meter for what reason it’s a $90 charge at least.I will never visit the place again.
I called to explain how bad my dog was feeling they said they would see him right away. I got to the place which was far from me and I only went because they specifically said they would see him right away then they made me wait for an hour while my dog was shaking really bad I called again and the receptionist said the doctor has no “time frame”. They should tell the truth when you call in it was a hard time to see my dog suffer for hours.
A good animal clinic will let you know when your pets have came to his/her term (due to age/illness) instead of manipulating the owners' emotion & tried to max out the insurance/cost to make profit at the animals' expense. Our Dachshund had to be put down a day after one week of hospitalization w/ expensive blood transfusion at age 13. I regretted about putting her through all that suffering until this day. The vet tried very hard to make me feel guilty for not attempting to "save" her at the time. Now looking back it felt he was more interested in his revenue than my pet. :(
Thank you for the kind and compassionate care you gave us for the last 14.5 years and in your support of us last weekend when our much loved pooch crossed over the rainbow bridge. You all all just the best. I would recommend you to anyone.
Horrible place. Don't bother making appointments at this place, they are not compassionate , their communication is atrocious and they keep you waiting hours even with an appointment. Even if there's an emergency they don't come to tell you and keep you waiting in the room until you ask, then make you feel bad for asking. They are more about the money and not about your pet or the experience. I've never written any reviews for anything in my life before this one and I felt I needed to because if your pet is as important as mine is to me then I'd urge you not to go here.
I would give 2.5 stars if I could. The only good thing about this place is that they are open 24/7 and they do seem to have the latest of everything. I echo what most people are saying here about the way they gouge you. Their excuse is that people now want "human quality care" for their pets and they provide this type of care because they don't want to be sued. My cats have been seen by about 4 doctors there over the past few years and the only one I trust there is Dr. Necilou (spelling?). My cat is now sick and if I do decide to back there it will only be out of desperation. Unfortunately most of their business is based on desperate patients and there is no doubt they take advantage. It may not be the doctors' fault as they are only employees and not owners (I think). I wonder if they get a cut of what they charge? I wouldn't be surprised.
This establishment really does deserve more credit than the 2.4 star cumulative review. Perhaps I have a good doctor and my puppy is just so exceptionally cute to receive preferential treatment. I also have Petsecure insurance (decided on Petsecure based on my own research, not suggested by the clinic) so I am not overly concerned with the price gouging that many spoke of. The facility is clean and accessible for me (living at Yonge/401 area). Only complaint is the amount of parking spaces in the back of the clinic. However, the plaza right next door usually has a few empty spots that you can park at. They serve K-Cup coffee with a good variety. Wi-Fi is available (but I couldn't connect the last time I was there.) Charging cables are available for those who need it. Jars of treats are within reach to keep your pets calm and engaged. I definitely enjoy playing with my dog using the provided treats while waiting for the doctor Terrific experience with my 5-month old puppy thus far. As a first-time dog owner, the doctor, as well as the technicians, really put me at ease when it comes to raising the puppy. In addition, I can sense that my doctor truly care about my puppy's well being. For routine visits, the doctor explained, in great and digestive details on the mandatory and voluntary vaccines. This is where some might argue that they try to gouge you for unnecessary treatments. However, I did my own research and the suggestions from the online community is consistent with what the doctor told us. We have had a few unscheduled visits due to minor injuries and cough that he likely picked up from day care. Once again the doctors were able to quickly provide some diagnosis to the problems. With the prescribed treatments, we were able to see improvement in approximately 1 - 2 weeks. One time the day after one of his shots, he was lethargic. I brought him to the vet in case it is an allergy to the medications. We saw a doctor that is not typically ours. A couple days later, our doctor actually called and asked if the dog is feeling better. That was a really nice touch. Lastly, with our most recent visit for his cough, the doctor spoke about x-ray to check for possible tracheal collapse, but ended up prescribing only the antibiotics + follow-up appointment the week after. The doctor knows we have insurance. If they wanted to gouge us, they could've easily insisted on the x-ray.
It is a awful place!!!Do not go there !The doctor is so rude~
I will never go back to this place, my dog died due to the lack of experience, I don't think they are professional at all, my dog was dieing and I wanted to put him down, the vet turn to me and told me if this day was you son would you put him down, I wanted to punch him in the face, I want there 15 times in one year and every I want there they hit me up for blood work, told me I had to buy this and that to help witch I did think it would help but it didn't, so the last time I want to my dog they told that my dog had a serious blood infection and there is nothing we can do, this was going on for a year so much blood was done and they tell me that, it cost me 1600 maybe more. I dont recommend this place to anyone
Expensive and terrible
You guys rock! The world is full of cyberbullies......
THESE PEOPLE DO NOT DO EXOTIC PETS THIS IS ONLY A CATS AND DOGS VET
We have been bringing our two cats to see Dr.Krebs she is great! One of our cats has diabetes and she has been amazing in adjusting her insulin and she calls us regularly to check on her and has always made time to answer our questions . She is thoughtful and caring as well as the rest of the staff at the clinic .
I was recommended to come here by a friend. Very clean space with polite and gentle staff. Never crowded, barely see the other 'patients'. Worth every penny and the staff sincerely care. Even with Covid, staff were accommodating and I have made this my pet's official vet. The quality is worth it.
Dr. Bloom, We want to thank you for all of your attentions and interventions to be sure Harrison carried on in a fine fashion for as long as he was able to. He was a constant spark in our life. His playfulness and monkey business to the end we will never forget. I also want to take a moment to thank Dr. Jennifer Wang and Kris for their professionalism to make the past early morning visit bearable for me. I was impressed with the care they gave to be sure Harrison's comfort was paramount. We will never forget and thank you again. We will always recommend you and your clinic. Regards, Fred, Jill, and Michelle
The worst vet office ever. They literally did not do the job right. I went to get a second opinion and they were furious over that. That asked me not to come back. I was happy not to come back. Found two other vets who are terrific. All these negative reviews reinforce why this clinic is a mess. They don't care about animals. If you read these reviews and still decide to take your pet here, be-forewarned. Don't waste your time or money! You will regret it.
prices are too high for no reason, do not care about your animal, terrible staff, would not recommend.
I have taken 4 dogs to this animal hospital over the course of many years. Now that I am retired, I can't afford to pay huge vet bills anymore. So I called there to find out what the ballpark cost of an ultrasound would be since I was given a quote at another hospital and it was very high. I was told I'd have to bring the dog in for a consult in order to find out how much it would cost. No vet would even talk to me. Such a disappointment to be treated in this way.
I have been to this location twice for an emergency. Both times they were quick to find us a room, and evaluate our dog. The staff have always been nothing but friendly, as well as informative. The pricing for emergency treatment and medicine has always been fair, and personally surprisingly little compared to what we pay at our primary vet. They sent us home with medicine and a proper diagnosis which helped our dog recover quickly. So far I have no complaints about this place, and I am even considering switching to this hospital as the primary vet for my dog!
Overpriced Undervalued Veterinary Service & Care!!! I recently brought in my approx. 10 year old miniature dachshund for what I deemed to be an Emergency appointment. She was in clear discomfort at home one afternoon both whimpering and whining near my feet to get my attention. As I live nearby, this was the only reason I attended this particular clinic. We attended, I explained my concern, my dachshund was then weighed and we were given a room to wait for a Veterinarian/Assistant to attend. So far, so good. Within a few minutes, a Doctor/Assistant was seeing my little girl. This initial look at Yolo was described as an examination. A VERY brief and poor one at that. Nevertheless, I was informing the Doctor/Assistant of what my dachshunds symptoms were and so forth. We spoke for a couple minutes more and then I was handed a 'grocery list' of what all was suggested to be done to my dachshund to hopefully get some answers to why she appeared to be in pain. As my eyes scrolled down to the bottom of the paper, approximate cost for all suggestions was around $1,500. This included the following ... initial examination, bloodwork for Kidneys ONLY, anesthesia which would take around 4 hours. Why the anesthesia you ask? Because she was to have X-rays done. So X-rays, a series of pain meds and results would follow. Are you kidding me??? The Doctor/Assistant saw the look of shock on my face at this price quote and just noted that she would leave the work order for me to look over and sign off on regarding what I did or did not want done. Once she left our room, I looked at my dachshund who seemed to, during our visit, no longer be in the same discomfort she was at home and made a decision at that point. I took the work order to the front entry where I came in, returned it and just paid for the initial 'examination' or lack thereof and decided to look elsewhere for resolution at a different Veterinary clinic. Total cost for that 10 minute joke of a consult was around $120. Your 'fur baby' deserves a lot better than being ripped off. She/he deserves quality care by people who truly care about your little one and not just the $$$. If you are wondering whatever happened to my little dachshund, she was seen at another Veterinary Clinic 2 days later whom I found online with very good reviews. She received a full examination, received X-rays, had complete bloodwork done as well as checked for Heartworm and was prescribed a couple of different medications for pain for 7 days. The outcome of that overall appointment was only around $600. Exceptional care and consideration given by each member of the staff there and I am very happy to say that we have found a new Veterinary Clinic to attend. More importantly than the money is the fact that my dachshund did NOT require to be sedated to have her X-rays done. We have to stop killing our animals with chemicals. Humans don't require sedation for X-rays so why would you do that to a behaved little dachshund? Long story short...she is doing much better now and I saved myself almost $1,000.
The staff and doctors here are awesome!
Found Female staff on night purely incompetent. My dog almost died from undiagnosed hemolytic anemia the next day. I dont think animals all show the typical signs of a disease and it's in doctors hands to unravel the issues. Unfortunately she lacked both the knowledge and compassion. And I hope she would sit properly in a chair next time, not w her entire legs crossed and slouching over like a child.
horrible!
I have gone to Willowdale Animal Hopsital with two different pets and consulted two different vets and received excellent service and advice. When my beloved 15-year old cat got quite ill and was dying of kidney failure, the vet was honest with us and didn't make us feel guilty in our decision to let her go; the alternative was a costly 5-day treatment that was at best an attempt to keep her alive for possibly only a few months to a year and would have been quite traumatic for her and no guarantee to work. I was very grateful for the vet and staff's kindness and understanding during this sad time. Every time I have called or gone in for any advice, I have always been well received and guided, so thank you!
The worst place that i have ever been they don't give you a clear answer so they can charge and charge And the delay is very horrible you don't want to come to this place
If you have a big dog , don’t bring it here. All the vets seem to be scared of big dogs . They’re not trained professionally . I brought my dog for a shot and first they didn’t take my dog to a room, they wanted to give her the shot in the hallway. After they tried to give her treats and they were throwing it to her . Then, they wanted me to hug my dog on a way that she was obviously going to move and I tried my way and the doctor in a sarcastic way said “ you never hug a dog before”? . They weren’t capable of giving the shot so I left . This is supposed to be a hospital so you should expect all kinds of dogs and pets with different kinds of personalities, but this people are not trustful and don’t know how to treat a pet. AVOID THIS PLACE !
It was an emergency situation as my dog was dying of pain. A friend of mine suggested me of Willowdale Animal Hospital and we rushed there without any second thoughts. Immediately the doctors came to our help and started with their treatments. Just a few minutes later when I saw my lovable pet sleeping calmly I took a sigh of relief. I would truly like to thank the team for saving my dear pet of pain that night.
Avoid at all cost.
