We have been going here for a few years with our cats and couldn't be happier. They are caring and thoughtful, it is clear that everyone working there truly cares about every animal that comes through their doors. I've seen them go above and beyond to provide care, from home deliveries to accepting special payment arrangements. They are also always helpful and will help direct you to the proper care in case of emergency, even outside of business hours. From the vets to the techs and the reception staff, the health of our pets is their priority, regardless if they are having a hard day or dealing with other difficult situations. They are friendly and welcoming and have always served us and our difficult kitties well! They are always upfront about pricing and options and we've never felt pressure to agree to any unnecessary testing - they always explained clearly any recommended procedures and whether it should be done right away, can wait or is optional.

Every detail was perfectly orchestrated for the surgery of my dog, Pi. His pre blood work, to surgical prep instructions and including a call the evening before to ensure Pi was ready for his surgery. The day of surgery, the surgeon, Dr Tanya Fournier, and team were patient with my questions, understanding of my worry and provided clear communication to my questions. The surgery went well and I was appreciative of NIkki, the lead technician, spending duality time with Pi as he recovered from his anaesthetic. I'm the owner of a well known Beagle in the Don Mills neighbourhood named Opie. Many know my dog for carrying his own leash, a bag of groceries or the occasional 6 pack home from the store. For 6yrs I considered the so called "Don Valley Animal Hospital" as our Vet. I took comfort in knowing they were near by. One day Opie needed emergency care. It became apparent that they have no diagnostic equipment on site. After getting Opie stabilized. In a display of loyalty. I overlooked the misrepresentation and returned with hopes of a diagnosis and ongoing treatment. Over the next month I was provided 4 misdiagnosis with prescribed medications. Calls to report adverse reactions to said medications were ignored. With euthanasia topping the list of recommendations I was left feeling hopeless while watching my dog suffer. After a staff member revealed I was being intentionally ignored due to invalid concerns about payment. I took my dog for a 2nd opinion. Within 2 hours. I was advised my dog was days away from death and the new Vet provided an accurate diagnosis with a course of treatment. The very next day Opie's condition began to improve. I firmly believe the lack of attention and care provided by the so called "Don Valley Animal Hospital" deliberately allowed a month of unnecessary suffering, potential trauma thus narrowly avoiding the death of an otherwise healthy 6yr old dog. I would like to add that the supporting staff are undeserving of this review. They often showed genuine compassion with good intentions. Only to have their skills and abilities restricted from the oversight of a management with ulterior motives.

At the Don Valley Animal Hospital we had the very Worst Customer experience of our lives !!! don't go there ! Oct 2014. we had decided to try them because they were a little less expensive than our previous vet and took our 12 year old dog there to be physically checked out specifically to see if he could handle being given anesthetic(to have tooth removal). we also had our previous vet fax them his medical history.after a few weeks of expensive tests they said all was fine and booked our surgery.i took the day off work , we bought the expensive pre-operation antibiotics etc...and it turned out on the operating table just before being given the anesthetic they 'discover' a slight heart murmur.this they say could be fatal for our dog and that we should now take a $300 X-ray and also maybe a $480 ultra-sound. the infuriating part comes next when we learn that this potentially fatal heart murmur had been recorded by our previous vet and was included in the fax we had sent.THEY DIDN'T READ THE PREVIOUS MEDICAL RECORDS until after we had given them lots of $ for tests/took work off/more $ for drugs/more$ for a surgery day 'pre-check'(where they luckily noticed the heart murmur) we did end up taking an X-ray that showed our dog to have a very enlarged heart and signs of other complications (meaning the operation likely would have killed him) i had made it very clear to the receptionist when picking our dog up (as i paid yet another expensive bill) that i thought it negligent that we were booked for a surgery that should have never taken place and had paid all this money, put dog under extra stress, lost a days work...she agreed and gave me the managers email to let her know what happened and see if i could be re-imbursed etc... i emailed the manager about our experience and received NO RESPONSE- ZERO !? i also emailed the owner about it - NO RESPONSE!? i emailed the doctor(s) -NO RESPONSE !? completely bizarre -not a single acknowledgement or anything remotely close to an apology for the inconvenience . We will NEVER GO BACK and recommend that you find somewhere else to take your pet.

Dr. Ferrence was extremely thorough with his examination and very gentle with my cat Eenie (who lives with my best friend Glenna). He took the time to explain everything to my friend and I and he even came to the phone and spoke with me personally when I called to check-in on my boy! Took our cat there a while ago as she was throwing up. She's fine now, but the bill was over $1100, no-one could tell us what had been wrong with her, and they took a nice chunk out of her front paw; they couldn't explain how. But they'll charge you for the bandage. And the two girls at reception are more concerned with their appearances than doing anything, like helping out. Avoid this place at all costs; you, your wallet and your pet will be very glad you did.

My experience at this clinic was honestly Terrible. I was referred to by a friend who attends here and decided to give them a try. I’m very particular on which vets to bring my dog into especially if it’s for a possible surgical procedure. Firstly, there was several miscommunications among staff members while booking. I was told they can squeeze my dog in for a dental scaling/polishing/ extraction procedure, so I made my way there on an already busy day and didn’t end up following through with the procedure because they were unprepared. Second, the process was very unprofessional. They answered all my questions at first so I thought wow this clinic really knows their stuff, however I was told incorrect information once I got to the office and was forced to pay a charge that was uncalled for and unfair. And when I addressed my concern, they handled it very poorly and unprofessionally. And what really struck me most, is when we asked the question why did you book us in the first place, If you guys were obviously not prepared to have us? I recall the vet trying to explain to us along the lines of that “we were desperate”. I work in an industry where customer experience should be top priority. This clinic may have the credentials to hospitalize and care for animals, but I believe positive customer experience should be effortless and I did not receive that here. However, there is a receptionist that was very sweet and understanding and we thanked her for that.

This is by far the greatest animal hospital I've been to. I've been to various ones through my own dog and friends pets , but this hospital is different. They are so helpful, understanding and caring. They actually got my normally fussy German Shepherd to take shots and take her temperature with no push back and no fighting. It was amazing. The receptionist were great and handled my dog so well. They gave me new tips and tricks for handling her . I would recommend this clinic to anyone that asks

Since moving to a different part of Toronto it was a bit of a drive to get my dogs to their regular Vet. After a lot of research I found Don Valley Animal Hospital. They explained my bulldogs issue in great detail to help me understand what was wrong with my dog and didn't push expensive treatments on us until we tried other methods first. The staff is wonderful to not only us but my dog as well! I would recommend this team to anyone that is looking for a vet for their fur babies.

I had a horrible experience tonight. My elderly cat, Jack, has urinary crystal issues. Buying the prescription diet is not just a matter of convenience - he will have a serious relapse in a very short time should he be fed another diet. I wanted to ensure that I had enough food for him to last if we were quarantined, so I tried to get a bag of food this evening - ONE bag. These bags of food are almost $40 per 2kg bag and I have been purchasing 2 bags a month for about four years at this clinic without issue. This evening I was verbally abused by the vet at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. He stood screaming at the top of his lungs that I was to get out of his clinic, just because I had chosen to keep my cat seeing a vet who was familiar with his condition and had not switched over to his clinic. There have been plenty of times that I had considered switching my cats over to this vet's office, if only for convenience purposes, but the time was never right. However, after the way I was treated tonight - in a time of unprecedented crisis - strictly because I wanted to ensure that my senior cat with health issues wouldn't have a relapse, I am so very thankful that I decided to keep my cats at the vet that they have been seeing for a decade. Nothing like a crisis to bring out the true character of some people.

My boyfriend took my cat to this vet because he had been scratching his ear a lot and looked really dirty. We thought it might be a chance of ear mites. Last year, I had taken my cat here to get the same thing checked and the younger doctor (he is not there anymore) said he didn't have ear mites when checked under the microscope (which he also told me ahead of time that there would be a charge and asked my consent for it) that dr was very thorough with my cats other health issues and answered my questions clearly. This time around with Dr Farshid Dolatshahi, said that he cant tell until he checked under the microscope which the front desk said would be free when my bf called on the phone but when he got there, they said it would be at a cost. Dr Farshid Dolatshahi also mentioned the other health issues that the other Dr mentioned but when asked about he gave very little details and did not seem like he knew what he was talking about. The nurse showed my bf a photo of a worm/flea thing and said that it came out of my cats ear this place told my bf that my cat has fleas and then used the most expensive flea medication on him when there is a cheaper flea medication option and is over the counter medicine. We paid, but my bf and I wanted a second opinion and so we went to a different vet and they detected NO FLEAS just a yeast infection in his ear and gave us drops, and told us about the cheaper flea medication to use just incase. DO NOT GO HERE!!

I’m not sure why the rating is so good here. That’s was a HORRIBLE experience, the front desk was unprofessional, I booked an rabies vaccine for my dog online and when we got there they were assuming I went in for deworming. After the mix up,The vet started to tell me to have my dog do all the shots.I recently moved from Montreal and I TOLD them to contact my old vet to access my dog’s medical record because all other shots are up to date. But they said they couldn’t reach my old vet and just asked me to give my dog the shots anyways. I declined those shots but it came up to my bill anyways. And after checking the bill the front desk said it was just another mix up. Avoid if you have any other vet options, I wouldn’t trust them at all with their clueless front desk service. Plus the vet is always trying to sell those overprice dog food brands.

Don Valley Animal Hospital has been caring for my pets for over 30 years and I am very happy with their professional, knowledgeable and friendly care. Dr. Andre Francoeur, who I have dealt with most of the time, loves animals and treats them as his own - and he owns many. The staff are always helpful and try their best to provide service during these trying times of the pandemic where supplies are short to arrive (not their fault). I highly recommend them.

Honestly I would have given this place half a star if possible. The nurses are nice, but the vet is exceptionally rude, greedy and ill behaved. If you value your money or more importantly value your pet’s life, avoid this place. It was the worst decision to bring our pet to this place.

It's a good place don't get me wrong. Great looking facility, great and friendly staff and doctors. They know what they're doing and they really do care. The also seem to have a wide range of foods and other things you'd need for your pet. They also care for a pretty wide range of species of pets. My issue, the price. The base price is $150. That's for the doctor to check your pets heart, ears, look at pet, listen to their breathing. Anything that is none invasive. That is not worth the price. People don't come to the vet when their pet has multiple non-invasive issues to be looked at. There are places that you can get a better price for. The only benefit to the price is that you can get an appointment sooner because this place isn't crawling with patients.

I have been bringing my cat here for the past year and a half since I moved to Toronto. I researched as best I could and landed at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. I am very happy with the treatment my cat has received and by the kind and gentle care provided from the reception to my cat's vet, Dr. Ferenc. We have an extremely bad experience with Andre Francoeur who’s a vet and I believe the owner at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. He has no manners and he’s extremely rude. He very much likes to hugely overcharge for the services and charges for the same service twice. However there’s a young doctor Ferenc at the clinic that I always insist on getting the appointment with but when I show up there’s Andre taking over. He pushes the young doctor who’s very knowledgeable to the side and pushes himself on to clients even when he’s not wanted. We live on Don Mills and Lawrence for the last fifteen years and we know for a fact that many pet owners from the area are staying away from the clinic because of Andre’s attitude and bad reputation.

I am not impressed whatsoever with my experience. I have a 2 month year old Doberman which I brought to the vet to have an overall health check to make sure my puppy is in his best health and vaccinations are up to date. Instead of checking all the necessary areas, all the Vet did was talk about the food and how amazing Guelph is. A couple of days go by, I went to another Vet and he told me that my puppy has a severe ear and skin infection which I previously asked him about and he said everything was okay. My puppy was suffering due to lack of knowledge. Waste of $200.

This is my first dog and she is an important part of the family. I went into the hospital to find out when she was due for annual shots. To my surprise my little girl had not received a few shots which I felt was important from previous vet. The lady at the front desk took the time to call previous vet to see what shots she had already. Once in with the vet he took the time to point out things with my dog that needed attention in her behavior and health etc. that should be addressed while young. He shared with me his own experiences with his pets, so it wasn't a "do this don't do that session." I can't stress enough how pleasant our visit was and look forward to our next. If your looking for a fantastic hospital for your pets, then look no further.

I have been taking Phoebe my King Charles Cavalier to Don Valley Hospital since i moved to Toronto in 2011, and have had exceptional service - The staff there are professional and always happy to give advice, whenever I call. I have full confidence in the treatment of my Phoebe their advice is excellent and Phoebe has done extremely well. Any problem that arises with my dog is immediately looked into. and solved. And, Don Valley really care about the animals and treat them with respect and affection.

Helping senior 88+, with her dog, close location for her, wanted to bring little dog her nails to trim, first response was yes we will do it, after call back from vet , they refused to do it bc she is not a patient! The vet was magical with our cat, he's terrified of people so we thought it would be a difficult checkup but honestly he just melted in the vets hands and was so comfortable, calm and cooperative while the vet checked him out. We could not believe it! They took such great care of him and they were very reasonable with their services and prices. On top of that they were all super nice friendly and had plenty of advice and recommendations for specific health problems and quality of life recommendations too. Sadly, our cat passed away unexpectedly shortly after our visit, so it is extremely comforting knowing that his visit to the vet was not a horrible experiment during his last few weeks with us, but rather as calm and relaxing as a very check up could be. Highly recommend!

We've been bringing our cat Winslow to Don Valley since moving into the neighbourhood about six years ago. Mostly just checkups and shots annually. This year we were advised to get his teeth cleaned for the first time and we had to leave him there for the day. We've always been impressed by the friendliness of the staff and personal attention Winslow was given and this procedure was no different. When we came to pick him up we had a thorough debrief of what had transpired by the vet and the follow up care he required including antibiotic pills for 10 days as a preventative measure. Winslow still hates getting in the car and going to the vet but we're sure he'll get excellent care.

I really like this clinic. They care about my girl and that is what i'm expecting. I call one day worry about a cough my dog had and they ask me to come right away. Even my dog is always excited to go see the staff there... Who would expect that.

Just started to use the services of Don Valley Animal Hospital for my 2 cats after a recommendation from a neighbor. Dr. Farshid Dolatshahi was on duty and he treated my cat nail's injury with great care and professionalism. He arranged a second opinion from the principle Dr. Andre Francoeur about the healing process and took as much time as we needed to speak to us and explain. We had to urgently go back for rebandaging because our cat played a "Houdini" and took it off, and that was accommodated right away. I find everyone at the clinic knowledgeable, friendly and kind, taking time to explain and accommodate patients even after hours and the cost is very reasonable and ethical.

Don Valley Animal Hospital (DVAH) has been taking care of my "baby" pug/jack russell Pero for the last 7 years. Our family relies on DVAH for annual check-ups, daily-boarding, and "spa-day". Vet tech with blue and pink hair yelled at Me and held my dog from me for 1.5 weeks because she was concerned for my dog because my credit card was Declined to to a ongoing fraud case… Gave my dog food i didn’t approve, did medical procedures i wasn’t informed and one vet even said “i was about to take him Home because hes so cute. But seriously, my home over the weekend.” I will be pressing charges against this establishment and dont want any other Dog moms And dog dads To be taking advantage of especially before the holiday season ????????????????????????????

We took our 3month old puppy in ONLY for an eye exam. They don’t allow you in due to COVID so doctor came out with the puppy and told us that his eye is fine but he was given his 2nd set of vaccines WITHOUT reading the notes that says he already got his 2nd set of shots last week at another clinic as confirmed by my husband at time of triage and also WITHOUT asking for our consent/authorization permission to do so on our poor puppy. The vet acknowledged his mistake and gave our puppy some meds to calm the symptoms. We are so angry with this clinic and vet (Eran) and warn you to avoid at all costs! Don’t leave your dog with them because they don’t read notes and don’t properly communicate to owners what they plan to do. We have also submitted a formal complaint to the College of Veterinary for a formal investigation into the matter of negligence from the vets end.

DVAH is one of the best places to go to if your pet needs help or you need some advice regarding any aspect of your pet's life.The doctors and technicians working there have a lot of experience and always find a way to solve your pet's problems. Here is a good example of their efficiency. About 3 years ago, my dog was diagnosed with incipient melanoma. They performed surgery right away, then recommended the dog to the right specialist, who gave him the right vaccine. Due to the rapid intervention and proper care, my dog lived for 2 1/2 more years. I will always be thankful for that.

I have been going to Don Valley Animal Hospital since they opened and have always been impressed by the service they have provided for my cats over these many years. The staff are super friendly and show that they love the animals and will go that "extra mile" to ensure they are cared for. They love the animals like they are their own. Over the years I have had to make the "final"visit a few times and the staff were so caring and kind during that time. I was not rushed and allowed to spend time with my cat to say goodbye. I really appreciated that.

Excellent place for your pet's health care. It's too bad they can't keep their appointment times not to mention being one of the most expensive places to take your pet. They also don't go to bat for you when your pet insurance wants to deny your legitimate claim. They seem to side with the insurance companies. They don't deserve the business, mostly because all they want to do is upsell you on services and vaccinations that your pet may or may not necessarily need. So Andre Francoeur you've lost another client because of your horrible customer service and your overpriced services. Don't come here unless you're well prepared to pay up.

They forgot to give my wife the quote we requested to spay our cat. when she called them back, my wife was told its busy and the vet responsible for our cat isnt in and to call back, when asked if they could just provide us with the info, their reply was " I could, but now is not a good time". We lost our 12 year Pug "Winnie" back in November, and it has been incredible hard. However, I wanted to write this review to share our amazing experience with Don Valley Animal Hospital Dr Ferenc was wonderful. He took his time to explain to us his concerns about Winnie. She was hospitalized and next day we learned that she had kidney failure and there was nothing we could do. After reviewing all the options Dr Ferenc suggested Euthanasia. I'm sure he has performed euthanasia many many times, but he really made us feel how sorry he was about the news. The entire staff was great. They even let us pick up Winnie before putting her to sleep so we could spend some quality time with her. When we came back to the hospital, Dr Ferenc explained to us the procedure in detail and gave us some more time with Winnie until we were ready. We can't thank enough for their sympathy. We even received a card from their staff wishing us comfort during this difficult time. What a great gesture.

I've been coming to this office for years, but recently, my 15 year old dog has required specialized treatment. Dr Ferenc has been SO patient and knowledgeable by listening to what her issues are and giving me several treatment choices. Mobility is one of her main problems so we tried an injectable option. Within 2 weeks she was running around like she was 11. She gets upset If i don't drive her to the country for a 3km walk. Thanks for making the quality of life for both me and my dog so much better!
