Asked around and Yaletown Pet Hospital came highly recommended. Takes a while to get appointments,(pandemic puppies)but worth the wait. The took care of my dog very well, and followed up the next day via text to check on my best friend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great staff and great Vet. I have been going to Yaletown Pet Hospital for many years and stopped when our last pet passed away. Now I have a new puppy it was a no brainer to call and return to YPH. Great to see Dr. Spooner again!
Yaletown Pet Hospital always shows the greatest care and provides the best service. Nowhere better than here to take your pets. Always available by phone and quick to get your pets in for an appointment. I highly recommend them. Noelle Halcrow Vancouver
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this clinic! Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff at a very affordable price. The staff who work here REALLY care about the welfare of your pet, and they go above and beyond to check in and offer help wherever available. I would recommend this clinic to ANYONE who wants the absolute top tier of care for their fur babies.
Yaletown Pet Hospital is the best! The staff have been amazing to both of my dogs and are genuinely interested in how they are, always checking in and wishing them happy birthdays. Dr. Meyers is one of the most honest vets who has your best interest at heart. I am never upsold on anything, they are about what is necessary for your pets never pushing ridiculous extra costs. Absolutely love everyone here!
Extremely professional group of people and very accommodating. Although they are not a 24 hour emergency hospital they are usually able to fit my dog in on the same day that I call-in. They are also extremely organized and send email reminders about everything your dog might need such as their vaccine schedules and check-ups. After a visit they always call back the next day to make sure you dog is okay. They also keep every single detail about your pet on file so that vets know exactly what your dog has been through and file insurance claims for you each time so you don't have to go through all the paperwork. I am extremely grateful for such excellence in service and gives me peace of mind as a dog owner.
My first two visits, I really loved this place; seemed clean, friendly, and inexpensive (free first visit check-up for new puppies type of thing). After 7 or 8 visits now I have become completely disillusioned. I have never seen the same doctor twice-- even when specifically requesting. At one point a scheduling admin told me that what I thought of as care continuity did not matter and would delay important care for my dog. And when you do see a doctor, they're usually late, do a quick assessment, and leave the room to have a sales person go back and forth between you and them negotiating care options, wasting time and frustrating you. The admin staff are chronically busy and you have to wait at least 5 minutes for anything (answering the phone to book appointment, paying after an appointment). The location prevents easy appointments after work and if you happen to have to come by while there's an event at the stadium that night, prepare for a stressful evening. When they found out I had pet insurance, they started pushing for things that seemed completely inappropriate to me (like me consenting to X-raying my puppy's jaw during a routine spay and potentially surgically extracting teeth if they looked off in the x-ray without any evidence suggesting that was needed). I give it 2/5 because the people really are wonderful and smile and laugh and so if you only need a one-time thing, it's a great walk-in clinic (although the pet hospital is way better for that). But it's not the kind of place I want to be the regular on-going care for my pets.
Yaletown Pet Hospital is amazing! I, admittedly, am a bit of a worried new mom with our puppy, Jupiter, but YPH never makes me feel like I’m asking too many questions or I’m too concerned. The entire team is so kind and always makes me feel like I’m just being a conscientious momma (even when I’m probably just worrying too much). Jupiter has been seen specifically by Dr. Vandermeer and she is incredible, we can’t say enough good things about her. Dr. Vandermeer is kind, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. Jupiter loves her and is always happy with her, even when getting his vaccinations. Dr. Vandermeer speaks to us in a way that is so easy to understand, but without making us feel silly for not knowing everything. She strikes the perfect balance between being relaxed and showing concern. Dr. Vandermeer truly exceeds any expectations we could have. We are so happy we found Dr. Vandermeer and the team at YPH, they makes us feel like they love Jupiter as much as we do!
We take our Boston Terrier here for regular care and recently he needed surgery to remove some suspicious growths. Everything went well and the surgeon Dr. Deb Archeck was very helpful and informative, as was all the staff. He's just had sutures removed and everything looks good. It's a nice office, but one drawback is parking. There is no street parking in the immediate vicinity but there is parking in the adjacent office building. Thete is street parking a block or two away, but it can be hard to get. Hours are good, open 7 days a week. Early morning and late appointments are available.
I am so thankful to Yaletown Pet Hospital. Over the bank holiday my cat fell off my 2nd floor balcony and even though they were booked solid they made space to let me bring him in to be seen by a vet. The vet was so gentle, kind, and patient with my kitty who was pretty scared. So, so so thankful!!!
I read a lot of Google reviews before trying Yaletown Pet Hospital and took my 9-week old puppy there. The staff is very friendly, like everyone else reports, but I did not like the experience or the vet's advice. Upon arriving, the check-in staff asked if they could take my puppy to the backroom to show all the other staff because she was so cute. I agreed, only to later find out they took her back there to take photos of her to post on their website as advertising clients. The vet I saw was very pleasant, but barely looked at my puppy on check-in and, without any knowledge of the circumstances she had received her previous vaccinations, recommended to me that I restart the entire vaccine process at Yaletown Pet Hospital with logic that felt off to me, which I then researched afterward and found to be completely untrue. My feeling was that the vet was simply trying to make me spend more money at this clinic by restarting the process. She then tried to upsell me on Royal Canin pet food products, which I don't use or recommend based on thorough research of the ingredients (many pet stores have echoed the same thought). All in all, Yaletown Pet Hospital felt like a big money grab with fake smiles. The "check-up" was more expensive the subsequent vet I visited, as was their quote for vaccinations.
Hands down the greatest Pet Care/Hospital ever. THE WHOLE TEAM is empathetic, sympathetic, and caring. The care and compassion my cat and I both received is nothing short of a miracle. A big thank you to all the Doctors, Vet techs, and all other members of the team, hope you all continue helping and caring for all pets and owners alike.
I originally chose YPH as the veterinary clinic for my new puppy Leila because it has a convenient location and decent Google rating. Some things I’ve enjoyed about the clinic are that they are easy to communicate with by email in addition to phone, they have long hours of operation, and it’s pretty easy to get an appointment last-minute on the waitlist. They take strong COVID precautions, not allowing pet owners inside. While this can be inconvenient for clients, I appreciate that it keeps everyone safer and is more comfortable for employees. Now, on to the not-so-great stuff… One thing that I found difficult was the lack of scheduling process or follow-up. YPH administered Leila’s second and final (third) rounds of vaccines. I was expecting someone to reach out to book the later of these two appointments, but when it didn’t arrive and Leila was nearly 16 weeks old (the target age), I called in. Luckily, there was space in their calendar and everything happened on time. While Leila was in the clinic for this last round of shots, I had an in-depth phone conversation with Dr. Little about the plan for Leila’s spay. She recommended a particular version of the procedure and that I have this done before the first heat to prevent mammary cancer. As she’s the expert, I trusted and agreed to her plan. Around when Leila turned 5 months old, I called the clinic to inquire about the spay appointment. Again, I was kind of expecting to hear from them about this because I’d made clear I wanted it done. But I was cautious after how booking had been done previously, which is why I gave some buffer and called a month in advance of when Leila’s heat might come. I wasn’t nearly early enough; they were booking spays 2 months out at the time of my call and could/would not do it sooner. I was so frustrated that no one warned me about the scheduling backlog and that as a result, Leila would have sub-par treatment (especially with respect to the cancer prevention). More recently, Leila had some irritation in both eyes. I took her to YPH to get checked out and they finished up in about half an hour, sending her home with some antibiotic eye drops. I was instructed to apply the drops 3 times per day for 5 days. As you might imagine, putting drops in a 5 month old puppy’s eyes is not easy! More drops hit the floor than anything, and I ran out early (3.5 days in) and called the clinic to request more. I thought this wouldn’t be a big deal, but was I ever wrong. 3 phone calls (the last with a rude and patronizing staff member) and 12 hours later, I finally had my new drops. There was no explanation for why it was such a process versus the first time, when the drops were easily available in under 30 minutes. Overall, I think this clinic needs to be more considerate and respectful of their customers, and communicate better when it comes to scheduling. I won’t be going back there.
Amazing full-service pet hospital. All the staff really care about your pets. The vets were skilled, knowledgeable, empathetic and soothing. Would fully recommend to any pet owners.
There was a front desk lady that wasn’t friendly. She took our dog for her vaccine and didn’t bother to tell us how long the service would take. After calling her, she said it would take half an hour! A few mins later, dr called us that my dog is ready for pick up. Thankfully we were still around, after all she didn’t even apology for her mistake.
EDIT: Feb 27th 2018! My 5 star has sadly turned to 1. After 13 years, I've transferred all of my pets to Cypress Animal Hospital. I called Yaletown in an emergency for my dog and the receptionist was flat, monotone and just plain didn't care. "We're booked. I can fit you in tomorrow", "if I'm booked, you can't come in. Go to emergency". It was 3 in the afternoon...after all these years, this was how I was treated. I swallowed the $700 neuter for my dog, the $400 neuter for my cat, $500 neuter for my dog in 2005 as well all because Dr Spooner cared. He was great. I could have found a cheaper veterinarian but I paid more because Dr Spooner cared. Sadly, his staff don't. Bye Yaletown. Thanks for not returning my message and for turning away my dog in her time of need.
Outstanding clinic - best in class! Dr. Gavin Meyers is by far one of the most compassionate, patient, intelligent and wholehearted vets I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Highly recommended!
YPH has always provided amazing care for our dog. They always do their best to accommodate any urgent issues even though they are always so busy. The techs, assistants and Vets are always friendly and supportive. I can't imagine going to another clinic.
We've been with them for almost 3 years since we got our first dog, Fen. We have two dogs and they both go to YPH. Fen was neutered there and is still happy and excited each time we go to the vet. All the doctors there are easy to talk to.
They have been my vet for 11 years since I got a puppy. Always fair and treat the pets well. Very attentive and always follow up.
Always a pleasure. Great staff!!! My dogs always come out with a smile on their faces. Dr. Vandermeer is the best vet we've ever had. Love this place!
I have been taking my dogs to Yaletown Pet Hospital for about 8 years now. I have always found that my dogs have been very well looked after and cared for there. The doctors are super compassionate and genuinely love animals. I had taken my older dog to a different vet in the past and I had felt that he was mistreated by that vet. It was such relief to find Yaletown Pet Hospital. Most of my experience is with Dr. Spooner and Dr. Archeck. Both were just amazing. The staff there also show incredible after care and I have received several phone calls after my one dog had surgery to check up on her to see how she was doing. I recently moved away and had to have my older dog put down. I brought him back to Vancouver to take him to Dr. Spooner because I wanted his end of life experience to be as positive as it could possibly be. Dr. Spooner showed so much compassion as was so kind and helped me to comfort my dog as he took his last breaths. I will always be so grateful for the treatment we have received and will continue to bring my dog to Yaletown Pet Hospital.
The vets are amazing as are the techs - I was with Yaletown Pet since Dr. Spooner....and have always been so appreciative...of Dr. Spooner and Yaletown Pets...thank you
When I got my first puppy, I was really looking for a place to be My Dog long run health care provider and I am so happy with my choice so far after almost 5 months. Even though they are practicing pet clinic only now which means no parent are allowed inside is one of the down side of it. however overall, despite the money you pay, you can always be sure your pet health is the most priority to the doctors and staff and then it may cost you more, but they don't never ever risk it over your pets health.
If your beloved rat needs to be euthanized, DO NOT bring them here.... they do not know exotic pets. Your pet will suffer more! So will you!
I'd loved to give no stars at all, but that's not possible, as we all know. Now to the fact why I've given just one star: I've been there with my cat, who has a problem with gum inflammation and due to that her teeth fall out. Before we came to Yaletown pet hospital she was treated in Germany, where one of her canine teeth had to be extracted and the pet there told me it's likely to come back, so when she lost her other tooth I wasn't surprised and went to the vet straight away where they found out that the root is still there and has to be taken out. In Germany that would be a routine operation of ten minutes. Give the cat a venous bypass, give her the anesthesia, pull out the root and put her into a kennel, til she wakes up. Over here it seems to be a major problem that can't be solved until the cat has had a pricey ultrasound, a pricey radio for her chest, blood sample taken and then a anesthesia for giving her the anesthesia, before something happens at all. And then the cat has to be watched by nurses until she's awake. In the end you have a bill of 2.000 Dollar or more for something that cost 200 Dollar in Germany. Why? Because they make you pay for stuff you don't need. And I'm sure isn't real!
I am so grateful for the staff here. They really care and they try to be as accommodating as they can. My dog was sick recently and they were still able to help me within my my budget. I have never been to another vet that genuinely wanted to help the way these guys do. And now that I've found them, I'm never going anywhere else.
I have been bringing my dog Hunter to see Dr. Spooner since she was a pup. The staff and vets have always been attentive and dedicated to the health and welfare of my pet. I have had a great experience every time I've been in. They go the extra mile to make sure that I am informed and that I know the costs associated with any procedure prior to it being done. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a good vet with a central Vancouver location!
The most wonderful staff and doctors. Very clear and thorough communication and both our dogs love going for their appointments. Stress free every time!
So happy we started taking our pup Walter to this clinic. They are easy to get into., both of the vets we've seen have been amazing, and we get follow up calls after he has a vaccination or has been ill which is really unexpected and appreciated. I can't imagine taking him anywhere else!
This is the only Vet we have taken our puppy to. The service here has been AMAZING. The staff is SO caring, and are very helpful. They are the reason why we keep going back. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is that our bill always seems to be more than what we expect. We have been quoted a few times incorrectly, for example when our dog got spayed. We were asked if we would prefer an body suit for our puppy instead of a cone. We were quoted on the phone $30, and after we got home from the surgery and looked at the vet bill it was 50% more at $45 before tax. For a onesie. No big deal but adds up when you are spending several hundreds of dollars already for the procedure. Same thing with the 'complimentary' pre-spay consultation. Its not complimentary when you have to pay for blood work. Highly recommend them still though because they really do look after your pet with love! Thanks Yaletown Pet Hospital!
I used to think this used to be a good place to take my baby, but all change by the end of March when first my card and then the well being of my baby, I'm really disappointed, you ask for reasons, answers and what you received is "doctors" trying to change you more, and not giving you proper answers plus po t fingers and blame you for things that they don't have the hole picture. Especificly doctor Marley, which I may say she blame to speakto speak rude to I don't now whom ye. Anyway next time to point fingers remember other 4 are pointing to you. And really try to read accent because English is not my fist lenguage and you tratme very bad, plus because you can't figure it out what was happening with my dog he ended in the emergency room, when at first sight another doctor which Ireally appreciate they're kind help saved my dog. Thanks for charge me 600 and don't help me that much!
I didn't even go in. Just had a rude interaction on the phone about my dog with an infection. Some long form to fill out online. I was referred elsewhere or told to wait 2 weeks. Terrible triage. Found a way better spot on Davie.
Hands down best, most caring, communicative care I’ve ever experienced. They handled my new baby Willow with such professionalism! Thank you, 1000/10 review!
We originally chose this clinic for the location.Yes! the receptions are very smiley and polite. Dr(s) are all very friendly. Unexceptionally excellent marketing effort by calling and e-mail us all the time. Initially, I thought because they care ...Actually they are all pure marketing. There is no commitment and personal care. Everytime we visit, a different Dr who knows nothing about my dog diagnose. When my dog was really sick, regardless of early time visit they asked us to make an appointment for 3 days later... They do not care my dog is suffering right now. It is much more expensive for every single thing they provide... It is a great hospital until your be loved family get really sick and seek for help.
Bob and I have nothing but good to say about the amazing staff at Yaletown. We have had the most excellent care for our dear cats, now just one - Quinn. Drs. Rob and Debbie have gone "beyond the call of duty" and have provided expert, loving care always. We're lucky to know them.
Very nice staff! Helped with all our needs, which were complex. My normally nice cat was unfortunately very embarrassing, getting all aggressive & became a badly behaved crazy animal ???? ...and yet all the staff was extremely professional about it! Probably the masked faces scare the animals & due to government restrictions, pet owners can’t be inside there to help calm our pets down, but this situation can’t be helped, rules are rules ???? ...excellent service, making the best of a very tough situation!
Here is what my cat Risia (russian for Lynx) meowed me after our visit for her annual check-up: “As always, the staff were meowsome. Overly Canadian friendly and professional. When I got a bit excited and started singing the song of my people they didn’t mind it and even rubbed my ears and belly. They made me feel welcomed and loved. When I saw my doctor, her smile dishissed me and we got along very well. In no time I was out and reunited with my dad. Can’t say (literally) I felt like purring after the visit, but I will not mind coming back for my next check-up...I think it’s good for my fur.” As much as it’s hard to please a russian ...cat no less, she liked it. I liked it too. So they pleased two Russians and it says a lot! ???????? Thank you thank you.
Started going here because of the good reviews and was not disapointed! Love this vet clinic and am so glad I found them.
I used to take my dogs to SPCA Hospital. However, they have been very busy. So, the hospital staff suggested to find another vet due to the long wait. So, I started taking my dogs to Dr. Gavin Myers. He has an extensive knowledge of veterinary medicine, a friendly demeanor and love for animals, compassionate not only to the animals but to the owners as well, and possesses great communication skills. The hospital staff are professional, friendly, patient, and handle animals with care. I recommend this hospital to pet owners in Vancouver.
I’ve been bringing my dog here for 13 years and they are always caring and I feel confident in their care. No matter which Veterinarian you get they are all fantastic and that’s rare. Out of all the vet clinics this one is the best by far. I never feel ripped off here, the care of the animal is number one and I feel that.
The care and attention that the staff give to my dog is awesome. They make sure that the dog is ready for his shots and make sure that he's nice and comfortable before doing anything with him. Rates are good and is a great downtown vet for something close by.
The best! The best.! We love Dr. Spooner. Can not say enough about the clinic and all the staff. Would not go anywhere else ( and we have). Mabel and Red dog received the best care. And now #3, Mr. Higgins is in good hands. Great advice and kind care, what you look for in a vet.
Absolute best vet office with the best drs and staff that really care! They are constantly and consistently impressing me!
Really awesome experience with Dr. Karly Little. Went in for an initial exam as we've just moved to the area and it was excellent. Have never experienced this level of care from a vet before. Karly really took her time to learn about our dog's experience, medical history, etc. She answered all of my questions and gave great advice. I never felt rushed or like I was in the dark about what was happening. Everything was really well explained. I also didn't feel like I was being forced into expensive or unnecessary care options, like I have at some other vets. Follow up communication was also awesome and they have lots of online resources to make things more convenient. Would highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit!
My dog is terrified of the vet and we changed to Yaletown Pet Hospital due to a positive recommendation from our dog walker. The person on the phone was lovely, took down all the details and reassured us that our dog would be fine. Our dog was treated with sensitivity and respect on her visit so this is now our regular vet. Reasonably priced, with caring staff who genuinely seem to want what is best for the animals in their care.
We took one of our cats to Dr. Karley and it was the best vet appointment we've ever experienced. Neither of our cats like going to the vet (as is the case for most cats/cat owners, I'm sure) but Dr. Karley went above and beyond to make our cat feel comfortable. We will definitely be going back there for any and all future appts for both cats. It's also a perk that it's so much closer to our apartment than our previous vet clinic. The only downside is that it *might* be a tricky location if you're driving/parking there (I'd avoid parking on Expo, park on any of the side streets and walk over instead).
The care and compassion that everyone has for animals here is outstanding. I appreciate that the team follows up with me after every visit to see how Ollie is doing.
I have my favourite vets, but I'm sure they're all great. I find YPH well priced and they treat my animals like family. They also offer some over the counter solutions which can be more affordable. I also like that they keep me on track for appointments and shots.
We love our vet who's a great listener and provides excellent care for our dog. The staff is friendly and professional and Yaletown's facilities are super clean. We hope our dog lives a really long time and YPH is our partner in his well-being.
Once again you came through for me again today Yaletown Pet Hospital. My old dog Buddy gave us a scare and you not only kept me calm on the phone but also squashed us in for an appointment and gave him excellent care. I have 4 senior pets and couldn't be happier after making the switch to you 2 years ago. For those who haven't been, here's a few things that are awesome about the clinic: friendly and knowledgeable staff, great hours, very good Vets (who treat you and your pet both with respect), and very reasonable pricing for the high level of service provided. Added bonus: the clinic and staff also do all sorts of community work that helps both local and international pets in need. They really do love pets. Can't say enough good stuff about YPH. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Every experience I've had here has been amazing! I've seen a couple different vets and each were just as kind and helpful. We recently had multiple appointments with Dr. Myers about our elderly dog Mocha, his knowledge and compassion made us feel so comforted and supported. Would highly recommend Dr. Myers and the entire team for your pet's needs!
We have been taking our dog Milo to YPH since we got him. All of the staff are super! But I want to recognize Dr. Deb in particular. She helped us through our first scary sick time with Milo. She was calm, thorough and followed up with us for several days after treating him. I would highly recommend YPH!
My dogs love going here. Always excited to see the staff. We come here for all our dogs’ checkups, teeth cleaning, and order food from their online store now. All the doctors we’ve seen are great.
I needed a place for emergencies when my usual vet was closed. When the emergency occurred, YPH was compassionate and helpful. They even sent a card signed by the staff after my poor fella passed.
Very dissapointed. Made an appointment for my puppy's booster shot the day I brought him home. We emailed back and forth and they said it was "confirmed". I work two jobs and had to book off my second job for the appointment - when I got there they told me they messed up and "forgot" to put the appointment into the system. This response was very non-chalant. When I explained that I had booked one month in advance and that my dog needed to get this vaccine within a certain time frame, the receptionist didn't seem to care and told me I could wait around tomorrow and hope for an opening.... There was nothing done to try and fit me in that day or help the situation . The most rediculous part was when I walked away and the receptionist yelled "PEACE!". So unprofessional, unreliable and just a lack of care for puppy and the owner. Will be bringing my business elsewhere.
My cat is getting to be a little old lady, so vet visits have become very regular. Luckily, YPH has been amazing - the staff are extremely kind, the vets have all been great and knowledgeable, giving my cat thorough care and always giving us ample info and options for moving forward. Has become a very busy place over the pandemic, so booking your appointment ahead of time is recommended!
AMAZING customer service and care for your pet! I took my cat there because he has an infection of his tail and they were super friendly with me and the best trying to deal with his sassy personality! They called me the next day to check on him and are always very helpful if I have any questions! No matter who you speak with, they’re great! I read a review calling them pricy, but I think they’re fair priced, even cheaper than some other vets I have seen. I think I found my favourite vet in town!
Every single person at YPH genuinely cares about your pet, and they also care about you as the owner. I would never go anywhere else, and highly recommend them for their professionalism, friendliness, knowledge, and attitude. Thank you!
We have taken our various cats, over the past 12 years, to the Yaletown Pet Hospital and have always had a great experience. We have been pet owners for over 25 years and have tried a few other pet care facilities. Dr Spooner, is the best. Besides being highly competent, he is compassionate, patient and trustworthy. We would recommend him and his staff to anyone.
This clinic is a great place. We brought our puppy in a couple of times before her first appointment to get her used to the place and the friendly staff were more than happy to accommodate. Dr. Kong was also very pleasant and informative. Thanks everyone for doing such a fantastic job during the pandemic!
Best vet we've ever used. They board pets, they offer alternatives when a treatment is expensive, and they have been very accommodating on appointments. Thanks to them, our cat is now nearly 20 years old and has the same energy as a kitten...which is good and bad for our apartment.
The staff is always amazing and really love and take care of my cats. I appreciate the time they take to talk to me to let me know about the health of my cats and what can be done to help them.
Always amazing care and service, they never tried to upsell. My dog is not an easy dog - he can be defensive and snappy when strangers try to touch him. But the doctors there are all very patient and understanding. Honestly I’ve never had a problem/negative experience with them.
I have only had good experiences with Yaletown Pet Hospital. When my dog broke his leg Yaletown Pet Hospital was very informative and helpful during that difficult time.
The Doctors and team members are always super friendly, professional and answer all my questions. We just had our dog spayed this month... she received excellent care and healed beautifully. Thank you!
Way to expensive for what I had done. With a follow up call to ask how Drac was ( my cat) soon as I said I can't afford them there was no longer any questions asked about Drac they told me to go to the s.p.c.a vet
We would not take our cat anywhere else. The clinic is immaculate, SO well equipped, the support staff are great, and of course the vets are all very knowledgeable and thoughtful. We love Yaletown Pet Hospital! Thanks you guys!
They preyed on my desperation and took money in advance for "opinion" they knew will be negative in spite of what they learned about veterinary medicine, because they wouldn't go against their cartel buddies. Yes, from what I experienced in Vancouver (and I wouldn't wish it even for my worst enemy), it is the only logical conclusion. If you're not filthy rich or treat pets as disposable toys, do not have one here. EDIT: Firstly, it's unfair business practice to charge in advance for something you never intended to provide. Secondly, I have already emailed you for refund at the time and I was ignored. I won't be calling you on the phone - I am not afraid of having written trace of what I said.
We went to Yaletown pet hospital after trying multiple vets to help us with our ailing dog. The doctors there have all been extremely attentive and are doing their best to help us. For the first time in 2 years I am happy to say we are well on our way to a happy and healthy dog, who is making wonderful progress while under Yaletown pet hospitals care.
Staff was courteous and professional. Unfortunately the location is very small and due to Covid-19 restrictions we had to conduct our business out on the sidewalk under an awning but it was still all around a good experience I would recommend them to others without hesitation. .
We took our little chihuahua not knowing he had kidney stones, unfortunately due to the incompetence of the staff they made is spend $$$ on x-rays which revealed nothing according to them. On top of that, the doctor was very rude and didnt care that he was going through extreme pain. We ended up going to Vancouver Emergency Hospital where they detected the stones. The doctor then sent an extremely rude email accusing us of being rude. We were NOT rude at ent moment, we were just concerned that our little one was going through a LOT of pain and they clinic did not care at all about our situation. They just left us to our luck. Stay away from this place.
Been taking my two dogs there for years. Some of the best vets I've ever met. They make sure to prioritize the experience as a safe and comfortable one so not to traumatize them for future visits. My dogs are always excited to go to the vet.
Dr Myers is absolutely wonderful. Our family Pomeranian pup spends most of his time in the interior and that's where his regular vet is. He came down with my parents this weekend and we ended up needing to see a vet ASAP and we were able to get in super quick at YPH - on a Sunday(!). I seriously can not say enough good things about YPH, and particularly Dr Myers. He calmed our panic/worry, helped sort out our pom, and also kept him as calm as possible whilst keeping us informed while he went. His knowledge and bedside manner completely reassured us and made the whole group feel at ease. Thanks a million!
Great staff! Everybody is super nice, the vets are amazing. My dog is always super happy there. Great profesionals
Dr. Roxanne Vandermeer helped me with a variety of issues with my dog (ear infection, checking a lump, allergies and meal planning). She was extremely knowledgable, offered a ton of advise and was able to set up a new plan going forward that set my mind at ease that my dog will be handled with care and love! So grateful for this experience and would recommend her to anyone!
We've been going to YPH for 4 years. All the Vet's have been knowledgeable and show compassion and care toward our Dog. There's always street parking within a block radius that isn't super expensive, and we've never felt that the Dr's here try to push you in to unnecessary tests, they're looking out for both the animal, and your best interests. Highly recommend.
With the exception of one visit w/ one weekend vet a few months ago (possibly a locum), we have always received exceptional service from YPH. They have extended hours on weekdays and open on weekends, and have always been able to accommodate a last minute appt. Even for routine annual immunizations, they always follow up to see how our dog is doing. Most recently, our dog underwent a major surgery there and Dr. Spooner was great. My pet is recovering well, and Dr. Spooner and Dr. Aleks have followed up a few times post-op. Would highly recommend this vet! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Very accommodating , staff always professional. We used to live in Yaletown so was also very convenient. Even though we now live in North Vancouver we continue to bring our now 6 year old Sheltie to YPH.We appreciate the small business environment of this wonderful clinic.
From the staff at the front desk through to the vets, everyone is so kind and helpful. My dog is very nervous about new experience and strangers but our Vet was veru patient with her. This has allowed vet visits to become easier and not a scary of difficult experience! I definitely recommend them!
I’m extremely disappointed with this clinic! My dog has been treated there since she was 3 months old. I moved to Coquitlam a while ago but we still kept going there because they had our records and I thought it would be better for Leia (my dog), my mistake... I booked an appointment for October 2nd at 2:20pm on Wednesday (21st) then I emailed them asking to change the date. They replied me on Friday (25th) saying they didn’t have another time available so I replied ON THE EXACT SAME DAY that I would keep my appointment. Guess what, they cancelled my appointment and didn’t say anything. I went there today, my husband took a day off since my dog is super scared of being in the car. We spent 45 minutes to go from Coquitlam to Vancouver, I parked in the public parking beside the clinic just to be told that I didn’t have an appointment and I would have to wait AT LEAST 2 hours for my dog gets a VACCINE, just a bordetella vaccine! But the worse wasn’t even that... once I called them requesting to get my dog back. I was really mad and I told the woman that brought my dog that it wasn’t fair I was coming from so far, had so many adjustments to go to the clinic, she told me “then, you can go somewhere else”... really? After 1 year being your customer, is it the way that we’re supposed to be treated? So yes, I will find “somewhere else” to go.
Amazing place been going here for years absolutely would trust them with my dog he even had a tooth extraction there and I was very pleased and comfortable with the experience.
14 yrs as primary veterinarians. All staff have Great repor with animals. In today's climate, you see half the dogs running up to doors wanting to visit.
Wonderful care from attentive compassionate technicians and doctors. My pug has been in their care for 14 years and she is always treated with care and compassion. The doctors are thorough and honest. I can’t recommend them enough. Even during the Covid19 pandemic they have been able to help people with their family pets health issues. Parking is tough but worth the effort. YPH is the best pet hospital in the Metro Vancouver area. imo
We have been bringing our Bengal Cat here since she was a kitten. We have always received first rate, caring service. Very convenient and the vets always follow up after a visit - better than my Doctor!
They took excellent care of my cat, which isn’t easy as she is NOT cooperative at all with vets. The vets here are very thorough and understanding.
After being with them 5 years, it's time to look for a different vet clinic. This past year the front desk people have been terrible, I've been left waiting for long times after appointments waiting for meds, having to call numerous times for them to send invoices to insurance without success or follow up.
If leaving 0 out of 5 stars was possible, that is the rating I would give this organization. By far the most unprofessional and disrespectful employees and staff I have ever encountered. I booked my puppy in for a booster shot 3 weeks I'm advance, only for me to arrive at the location and for them to not even give me the time of day in coming outside and allowing me to show them the confirmation email. After my third call someone finally came out to which I showed them the confirmation email, and the employees response was "well we screwed up I guess, sorry." Not offering to fix the issue they caused. Please take my advice and avoid this place at all costs.
Amazing place. I will take Fisher back in a heart beat. I took my cat, Fisher, to Yaletown Pet Hospital and I was extremely nervous, based on previous experiences in Vancouver, but they were amazing. The front desk staff called ahead to Fisher's previous clinic to request his records so when got there we had minimal paper work. Fisher was scared so they gave us a towel with calming spray to put over his carrier. Jodi (Veterinarian) was truly the most genuine person. She is considerate and doesn't up-sell services or products. I left feeling relieved and without breaking the bank.
My cat has vaccinations and general check there today. Overall experience was great: staff was nice, professional and caring. Prices are regular and not too bad at all. They are open until 9pm and not busy , which is great. We will definitely come back.
This is a great place to take your pets. They are so nice, are willing to help in many cases where time is important. They are respectful and treat my dog as I would, as a living thing not a pay check. Amazing!
I've had nothing but the most positive experiences with YPH. Appointments are easy to book; the staff are very accommodating to schedule the most suitable visit times. Appointments start on time, and if unavoidably delayed, they'll do what they can to ensure a positive outcome. All of the veterinary staff are caring professionals that go above and beyond.
I've been taking my furry family members to Yaletown Pet Hospital for over a decade. My first dog, Lou, at one point or another, had probably been seen by every vet in the clinic, but I have to give a special thanks to Dr. Spooner and Dr. Archeck, who were Lou's primary care givers. They always went above and beyond what you'd expect from a vet, especially when Lou's health started to decline – they treated both him and me with the utmost care and compassion.
Great team of vets and techs who really care about patients and always take the time to explain everything. My dog loves going there.
I have been working with Yaletown Pet Hospital for a few years now and I have met most of the staff and the quality people and the enthusiasm is hard to beat. Recently I started to work with Dr. Robert Spooner and his little puppy Dora. Now knowing Dr. Spooner personally allows me to see what a good and kind man he is. Dr. Spooner is certainly the person I would want to take care of my pet and I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Rob Scheel Bark Busters
Great first experience with Dr. Ali Koby with our 10 year old dog. Just moved to Canada. She was prompt with calling us with updates, to check in on our dog's well being and health behaviours, and with test results. Very honest with recommendations on what testing needed to be done, and what she wasn't concerned about. Great medical advice and mindful of necessary costs. Much appreciated! We'll be back!
Neither of my dogs can walk past YPH without begging to go in...pretty good sign for a veterinary practice! Every experience we've had here has been great. Each vet we've worked with has been super responsive and transparent, and I know they take excellent care of my pups considering the doggos never want to leave and always want to go in to say hi!
This clinic is extraordinarily well-equipped, and we find the staff are welcoming and helpful. If your pet happens to be seen our vet, Dr. Roxanne Vandermeer, they are in very good hands indeed. She is the smartest, most down-to-earth vet we've ever had. Unlike our previous clinic, they offer quick stool testing on site which is very useful for our vacuum cleaner of a dog.
Always a good experience. Very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Only joined in August when I got my two kittens Blu and Bella and so far the vets and staff here have been nothing but wonderful.
Amazing staff, helpful, never feel like they're trying to nickel and dime you. Explain things thoroughly and very obviously love the animals
We have been going to yaletown pet hospital for almost five years. They are always prompt with the scheduled appointments and the vets are absolutely lovely. They are very reasonably priced and always call to remind us when our pup is due for a visit. They are fantastic!
The best clinic around. Super clean, super caring, and very transparent. Our dog went through a TPLO as a patient at Yaletown and they walked us through every step of the way, and we're incredible with follow up. Dr. Karley is an incredibly kind and caring person, and will sit with our dog Stella on the exam room floor and feed her treats until she feels comfortable. She's not an easy patient and we feel super safe with her at Yaletown (we just had a medical emergency which took us to a clinic closer to home and the difference in the experience was night and day). Thanks so much for all that you guys do <3 <3
It’s been weeks since the disastrous incident at Yaletown Pet ‘Hospital’. It took me this long to get over my rage. My dog was puking pink frothy blood at home so I rushed him to our family vet at this ‘Hospital’. The blood was everywhere when I got to the hospital and the receptionist was completely non-chalant and asked what was wrong? When I explained the situation, without acknowledging the situation, he just said he’ll be right with us. With my dog still bleeding and barely breathing, the receptionist resumed his phone conversation, leaving us waiting in this state. After his call ended, all he said was ‘all our vets might be busy, but let me check’. He casually walked back and few minutes later comes back to tell me they’re all busy but he can take the dog to the back to check his vitals. A few minutes pass and this time a vet came to talk to me with my dog. They say he looks bad and couldn’t get vitals because he’s too sick. Without asking for more info the vet just told me to go to the Animal ER across the Cambie bridge. I sprinted back with my dog to grab my car and rush to the Animal ER. My dog was seen immediately. They took care of my dog and respectfully with dignity, euthanized him. This was the service I was looking for at my family vet. Yaletown Pet Hospital isn’t a ‘Hospital’. This place is a dog store with sales people licensed as vets. When i complained about the entire issue, all they did was provide us with a disingenuous apology, saying that they did nothing wrong. If your pet is healthy and need a check up, this place is the place to go to get sold on their products. But if you’re pet is truly sick, this ‘Hospital’ will absolutely disappoint you.
I've only had one visit so far but it was very thorough and very professional. The staff care a great deal about their practice and their animals and offer excellent service. I also like how interactive and responsive their booking system and communications are.
We have only just started taking our dog to this clinic and I am unimpressed with the service. This vet is all about the money and not the pet. The first time we went with our puppy they took her to a different room to get her temp taken(which is odd considering most of the vets in the past do it in front of you),then they gave her the shots but refused to give her the rabies shot because they thought it wasn't needed right away. They then proceeded to give her something we didn't ask for which was apparently an experimental de-wormer without our permission. 2 weeks later we had to go to the vet again because she had contracted round worms. This time it was a different doctor who was assisting us and I told him what happened with the last visit and he seemed puzzled by the fact that they other doctor didn't explain anything to us, and also gave a little puppy the weird de-wormer. We then complained to them about the service that we had and they told us that our next vet visit would be free. Today on October 5 2015 is going to be our last visit to them. We brought her in for a check up and they tricked us into paying once again even though they told us that it would be free. So over the past 4 weeks we have gone to the vet 3 times because of their mistakes from the first visit. I would NOT recommend this vet to anyone.
The staff here are wonderful, from the techs to the doctors everyone is friendly, kind and have your pets health as their number 1 priority.
I have been taking our Bengal cat here for years. They are thorough and always follow up. I feel like my pet has doctors who really care and they are good with the stressy human parents too. Parking is a pain, but worth it. And they have a sense of humour. This framed print was on the wall in one of the exam rooms. ????
Great Vet! Had an emergency regarding my cat. Even though I'd never been to the clinic and I was calling short notice they were able to see us within an hour. Very greatful for their compassion and advice. The vet was amazing and so were the staff. One person in particular was Amber. She is full of useful information! I will continue to take my cat there in the future, worth every penny.
The Doctors and staff are Yaletown Pet Hospital are the best! I have been taking my dogs to Yaletown Pet Hospital for 14 + years and they always treat the dogs and their owners with so much care and respect. On some occasions, due to unavailability of an immediate opening for one of our dogs, we've had to go to other vets and the experience is not the same! With Yaletown, they give you honest opinions and talk to you about your choices. You feel you are not getting "sold" on the most expensive treatment and medications. With their popularity, it was getting hard to get appointments but with the addition of more doctors, we're able to get treated quickly again so it's a relief. We really don't like going elsewhere.
I appreciate the general good nature of the staff, but now that I have been to multiple pet clinics, this is the most overpriced and unimpressive pet shop I have ever been to. I have been waiting to post this for some time. There is more, I just don't feel like typing it all out. This is the most overpriced and clueless pet clinic I have ever experienced in my lifetime. My family has had eight dogs, in multiple locations, and I have been to MANY clinics. Even volunteering at clinics. But what I don't get, is why this clinic charges like a premium clinic, while it's service is below any non-profit I have seen. 1#: I bring my puppy in because he is crying when he is chewing anything hard. This is the response I get V: " I couldn't really check inside his mount because he was scrummy. But he seemed fine." ($180 dollar charge to a vet who cant open a puppies mouth to check his teeth.) V:" Here is some dewormer" 2#: Knowing I came into the clinic because he was having trouble with his teeth, they literally provide me hard pills for him to take. Puppy obviously couldn't chew the pills resulting in me having to go back and ask for liqued dewormer. Then, I bring my dog into them for his vaccine. I was told on the phone, I didn't need to have a "vet consultation." I asked to not have one when I heard this. I get charged "180" for a vet consultation. I head to the store to pick up my pup and pay at the requested time. A staffer informs me that their payment system is down. Staff goes inside, I think literally forgets about me, because I just stood at the door after hearing this and waited for an hour. I was confused why I didn't have my dog or receive some sort of other advice to amend the payment. I knock, the lady comes outside and asks me if I would pay by email invoice. I said sure. She goes back inside. I now wait another hour, just looking at the door. Wondering why I don't have my dog back. I knock on the door, "Do you need me to pay via email before getting my dog back, like what is going on." They give me my dog back. I spent two hours of sitting in the rain, waiting to get my dog back after they told me to return to the store.
I have been taking my animals and buying food from Yaletown Pet Hospital for years. They have a great team throughout the clinic, I have never had a bad experience. My dog loves to go there and I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. Transparent pricing and great advice from the vets is very refreshing. As a side note, the clinic has been open during COVID19, operating as a pet only facility, they are also still selling food. They are doing an excellent job of offering social distancing veterinary services. Thank you so much for continuing to look after our fur children during the pandemic!
Great people and efficient office. They took time to help me understand and make decisions from a knowledge point of view, and I felt comfortable knowing I had made the right one. Zoey has had her operation and is recovering beautifully. Thanks again Michelle, you were very helpful and I knew our Zoey would be well taken care of, as you were there for us, every step of the way.
I would rate 100 stars if I could. We moved to Vancouver a year ago, and when it came time to find a vet, yaletown was recommended. They have surpassed expectations. From reception both on the phone and in person, to the techs and vets, we have been blown away by the compassion, patience and love they all show for the pets and owners. LOVE THIS PLACE!
I love Yaletown Pet Hospital. I've been to a lot of places where they treat your pet like a number and an invoice and this is certainly not one of those places. Everyone I've dealt with has been incredibly patient and attentive and have taken the time to answer any questions I have (it's usually a lot). Also, I appreciate that they are understanding about the expense of vet visits and haven't pushed unnecessary/extraneous check ups which is a perk.
I was not a client of Yaletown Pet Hospital but when I called my regular place (Capilano) they were too full to see my dog who was having a pretty substantial allergic reaction. Despite being booked they agreed to see Maya. All the staff who I dealt with were very nice and compassionate. The Vet, Roxanne, asked a ton of questions and listened to my responses and overall was very thorough. She came up with treatment plan and Maya is responding great! I plan on transferring her file over to Yaletown very shortly.
Yaletown Pet Hospital has been my vet for over ten years. They have always provided wonderful care for my cats, and, when my very elderly cat had to be euthanized, the staff at Yaletown were incredibly compassionate and supportive. I recommend them unreservedly. .
My experience with Yaletown Pet Hospital was excellent. They accommodated my pet for nine nights. There was an initial check-up for my pet prior to accommodating her. Everything was handled professionally and everyone was helpful and friendly.
Yaletown Pet Hospital did a great job of looking after my English Bulldog. After diagnosing him, they suspected a serious illness and referred him to a specialty hospital. The care was thorough, sincere and professional. I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone.
After 16+ years with my dog Betty, I have to say that I’ve never experienced anything quite like Dr. Roxanne at YPH. She was thorough, knowledgeable, kind, personable and professional. She gave Betty a thorough check from nose to tail and was able to tell me things about her body and health that no other vet has. (She checked the range of motion in betty’s legs and told me that she has a knee cap that slips out- NO vet has ever checked her leg joints!) I was over all so impressed and I felt like there was such genuine love and care for betty’s overall health and quality of life. None of that “tacking on tests to up the price” like my other experiences. I’m so thrilled to have Betty in Dr. Roxanne’s care. What a load off :)
I've been with Yaletown Pet Hospital for about 12 months since moving to Vancouver and I've had a terrible experience working with their staff and doctors. Since the pandemic began, they are overwhelmed and unable to provide consistent information and care to animals. Recently three receptionists gave me different information and quotes over email, with an average 2-day response time. My specific questions were ignored, and it took 4 emails to get an answers to basic questions on my dogs care and follow up appointments. My last experience included getting multiple quotes from different receptionists. Each time you come in for an appointment, you deal with a different doctor who does not know your dogs history. Their prices are higher than average, and you feel rushed during your appointment. During my last comprehensive exam (Which is booked for 1 hour) I was with the doctor for ~15 minutes. When I discussed my issues with the manager, Lindsay, she admitted they have had multiple complaints about the receptionists and misinformation in pricing. Other vet clinics in Vancouver that I would recommend after extensive research: The Granville Island Veterinary Hospital West Boulevard Veterinary Clinic Point Grey Animal Hospital
I've taken my dog Rocco to Yaletown Pet Hospital for years. They are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Dr Myers is amazing, my dog absolutely loves him and I feel so comfortable knowing he's in good hands. I know he has my dog's best interest at heart and I never feel like he's trying to over sell me on things. He genuinely cares and wants to help. I'd definitely recommend them!
The entire staff at Yaletown Pet Hospital is outstanding. My dog doesn’t do well at the vet and they are so accommodating. They take the time he needs to be comfortable (and they forgive him when he misbehaved!). They checked in with me to make sure he was doing ok. Such a wonderful group of people. Highly recommend
This place is the biggest rip off. They tried to charge me $10 for a can of hypoallergenic dog food. The machines were down and they don't even have change
I have been bringing my two dogs to Yaletown Pet Hospital for years now and am sad to say I will no longer be returning. 2 weeks ago, my husband brought in our dog Jay, a 15 year old bichon, who was in urgent need of comfort care and ultimately euthanasia. He had an unexpected event at home, where he suddenly started having difficulty breathing and was clearly in pain. Since we live a few blocks away, my husband grabbed Jay and ran to the clinic. From the moment he walked in, he was ignored by the front desk, and then ultimately turned away by the veterinarian, stating that Jay was too sick to be treated there. There should not be any situation, where a dog is too sick or their condition too emergent for them to be turned away when all they are asking for is alleviation of their symptoms and suffering. This is a concept called compassionate care, a concept this clinic is clearly lacking. So, my husband ran home with Jay and drove to a 24 hour emergency hospital, where he was immediately provided with palliation of his symptoms and we were able to let him go in a dignified way. At the 24 hour emergency hospital, Jay was seen immediately, the veterinarian listened to us, and compassionately and appropriately treated a dying dog – they did what Yaletown Pet Hospital was incapable of doing for Jay. Yaletown Pet Hospital was our family veterinarian clinic, but when we were the most vulnerable and in need of their help, compassion and expertise, we were completely let down. They turned away a dying dog, unnecessarily prolonging his suffering. When I brought this up to the clinic, they blamed my husband’s poor communication. This to me, is completely unacceptable as I feel that it is the veterinarian’s job to clarify goals of care, especially of an animal that is known to them. They should be ashamed, as their actions that day were an embarrassment to the field of veterinary medicine. I wrote this review because I truly believe the culture at this clinic needs to change, and if they are to be called a pet hospital, then they should start acting like one, before more animals endure undue suffering.
I 100% recommend that you bring your Fur baby to see Dr Karley and her team. I am new to the neighborhood and noticed some odd behavior from my senior cat. I looked for places online to check her out and called yaletown pet hospital as they already had great reviews. I explained what I was seeing with Cher to Amelie who was able to fit me in the next day. I met Dr Karley who was very professional, nice and very caring of both my pet and my anxiety over her condition. She explained my options for testing, provided some immediate treatment for Cher and she and her staff answered the (many) questions I had during and after my visit. Unfortunately the testing found that my cat was very sick. I was called and my options were explained but what I really liked was there was NO pressure to choose an option and the staff were very clear about what each entailed and the costs for each but also was very honest on what my baby would go through and what would be the best for her longevity. In the end the heartbreaking decision was made but Dr Karley and her staff did everything in their power to make the situation as easy as possible, she stayed past the time she should have been off of work, Gave me time to spend with Cher and was with me till the end. I can not say enough of how grateful I was for how both me and my cat were treated during this time. I will adopt another cat and I will go back to Yaletown Pet Hospital for their care as I have never had such great and caring service from a vet office.
excellent level of care. took all the time we needed to discuss all concerns. the staff clearly love dogs!
I am absolutely disgusted with the “humans” and staff at Yaletown Pet “Hospital”. Earlier this evening my small 2 year old chihuahua had his paw caught in an escalator at a dog friendly establishment. The escalator had stopped finally and his paw had to be pulled from the teeth of the moving stair. We immediately rushed to the closest “pet hospital” which unfortunately for us was yaletown pet “hospital”. Upon walking through the front doorway with my dog in hand wrapping his paw in a blanket as well as himself so the bleeding may stop, we were turned away faster than we had got there. The soulless receptionist told us (without even looking at my poor pup) to walk across the Cambie bridge to another place because they had only one person staffed (was not mentioned to be a doctor) and they were about to start a euthanasia with a family and their dog. Meanwhile the family and the employees witnessing the absolute despair and distress I was in said / did nothing and the clerk repeated we had to go to another facility. In an emergency such as this when one googles pet hospital near me and this NON EMERGENCY clinic shows up in the results , it’s not only falsifying information, it could have cost my little guy his life. I’m sadenned today to learn the people caring for animals at this “business” don’t. Yaletown Pet “Hospital” should be held accountable. Turning away badly hurt animals is not acceptable from a Vet. MAKE IT CLEAR YOU DONT TAKE EMERGENCIES!!! Or have a heart and go the extra mile to save a life...thanks for the stress and heart ache Yaletown pet “hospital”. NO STAR RATING !!!!!!!!
Words cannot express my gratitude to the Yaletown Pet Hospital team. I will forever be grateful for the guidance provided by Dr. Spooner, Dr. Myers and the entire team at the hospital. Not only are they professional but compassionate, caring and patient but thoughtful and always willing to go the extra mile. Thank you and keep up the amazing work and service you provided your clients and their furry friends!
I have only been going to Yaletown Pet Hospital since April 2015 and so far my experience has been great. Buzby just loves going in for his appointments and even for a quick visit to say hi and score a treat or two.
I truly can't say enough about this location! There customer service and knowledge is top notch and would recommend them to anyone living in Vancouver. They handled my boston terriers c section like pros and made my wife and I feel so good through such a stressful ordeal. They understand that as dog owners it is stressful for us to with having to be there with sick pets. There prices are reasonable and offer payment plans as they know these vet bills can be quite costly. A big thank you to there whole team from our family! Matt & Kumi and Casey & Teddy
The doctors and staff at YPH are lovely to deal with and give exceptional care and attention.
Terrible customer service at the reception desk. I was told the wrong information twice, risking my dogs life. Unauthorized charges on my credit card. This place tries to scam you out of every penny. Take your beloved pet somewhere else if you love them.
This veterinary is a great team. They have been able to help my cat on short notice sevral times. Appreciate it!
Can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and compassion helping us through the end of life process with our cat. An extremely difficult time made more bareable because of the staff and the love for animals that they demonstrate. I would recommend them to anyone with a pet.
They do good service these my cats kitty cheetah and cherry
Since I got my fur baby, when she was 2 months old, I take her there. They are very good for their price, always follow up by text or call, and they have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. She loves going there, so I know she is well treated. Very nice place, and I highly recommend them.
Overall quality of veterinary care and cleanliness of facilities are great, services are at a higher price point that other vets but they are downtown so you pay for convenience. Subtracting one star because have had a lot of inconsistency with sufficient information being recorded to a pet file and essentially having to re-explain your pet and their condition every phone call or request for a prescription refill with administrative staff. Once you can reach the vet it is always resolved.
Truly the best! - The service is fantastic, and every vet is so knowledgeable and caring. My dog leaves every time happy and healthy. He is really sick right now, and they are taking excellent care of him. Thank you!
This vet is the best place I've ever been. So kind, caring and professional. You're left in no doubt that your precious pet is in the most capable hands.
We have taken many of our Greyhounds that have been surrendered to us for re-homing. Yaletown is top notch in their care and consideration for all of the hounds taken to them!
Moved to YPH on the recommendation of a friend, and have ZERO regrets. They are so reliable and I never feel pressured into unnecessary treatments (which I have felt at other clinics). My dog rushes to the door when I am bringing her in, I’ve never known a dog to love visiting the vet before! The staff are all so kind and sweet to my dog and they make what can be a very stressful experience much more comfortable. 10/10 for their service and experience!
The vets working there are good. But this Vet Clinic systematically adding more treatments that are sometimes not needed and not requested, and sometime they do not even bother to notify you about what treatments they are going to do. For example, we booked our two dogs and a cat for vaccinations, and were surprised to get an invoice that includes $69 (Per pet - that is an extra $207 ) for "Examination". No one bothered to let us know that vaccinations will include this "Examinations". And why?! Did we ask for examinations? No we did not. On another case we wanted to book them for teeth cleaning and in that case they told us (luckily for us) that they will have to do blood work which is an additional $100/ per dog. Why? "That's the policy" we've been told. So we took our pets to a different clinic. One that does not add more treatments than requested or needed and one that actually communicate how much we are going to pay for each treatment and let us decide if we actually want to go for it.
I have been taking my dog to this clinic since he was a pup. He is now 11 years old and he got diagnosed with Thyroid and skin problem since a few years ago, then he got diagnosed with Diabetes in 2014. Dr. Spooner has been his vet most of the time, (he is good and knowledgeable, we trust him), but Dr. Spooner usually & very often, goes out of town for a length of period through out the year, so we have no choice but to see other vets in the office. Since my dog has to be on long term meds for his various health problems. When his meds run out, if Dr. Spooner isn't around or out of town, then we will have problem asking for renewal of the prescription. They always want me to bring my dog into the office for "check up" first; sometime after much pleading, a small prescription for a week might be given to cover the time until we can bring the dog in for the "check up". We love our little dog, and I have to admitted we might be considered "overly concerned owners". We bring our dog in often enough in the past few years. I really wonder how's the policy of this office works, when one vet is away, wouldn't other vets in the same office be able to share the files of his patients (pets) to get information ? or this is the way how they generate more business? ???
We have always had great experiences at Yaletown Pet Hospital even when our dog was very sick. The doctors and staff are compassionate and caring and they manage to get you seen as soon as possible. This is a well-run professional establishment.
Dr. Meyers is fantastic with my dog. We've been coming here for two years since my dog needed emergency stitches after being attacked. Every experience is good, Iand each staff member is helpful.
They are amazing! They took my puppy in and told me every little detail and is there for any phone questions... highly recommend for first time owners / anyone at all!
Best vet in Vancouver hands down. Always accommodating and amazing staff. Highly recommend. I have been bringing my dog and now cat for every treatment for over 5 years.
This hospital/ clinic is absolutely abysmal. Not only are the receptionist staff poor at communicating with clients, but the pricing structure that they charge for services is ridiculous. Example: dog is coming in to get a rabies shot, has recently been at the clinic for other procedures. The clinic INSISTS on charging for a “check up” even though the pet has recently been in their care, and is clearly in perfect health. This would be considered inappropriate by any standard and the clinic should use their discretion in order to accommodate (price wise) more accordingly. I would normally give zero stars if that was an option, however, after my pet underwent surgery, my partner and I were extremely happy with the results and the care that the practicing clinician provided. That being said, that same visit, after we picked up our sweet little guy, they emailed us the wrong paper work for a different pet. Once again, poor follow up, terrible follow through.
They explain everything exceptionally well and anyone who works with Spark treats her like she is their own dog (let’s be real, fur-baby). I would recommend Yaletown to anyone with a pet!
I cannot recommend this vet enough. They have looked after my dog since 2017 and helping get him from Vancouver to Auckland now (this is a huge undertaking). They have been incredibly kind, caring and on-top of everything. Thank you YPH!!
we've had nothing but genuinely caring and helpful experiences at Yaletown Pet Hospital - our most recent visit today being one of them. We've seen multiple vets here over the past few years and each person gave sensitive and compassionate care to both our pet and us (as the distressed parents)! thanks for always taking such great care of Shreddie, YPH!
I've been taking my beloved companion to Yaletown Pet Hospital for over two years now and I've always had a great experience. Staff is very understanding, compassionate and helpful with whatever questions or worries I have thrown their way. They follow up with how your pet is doing after your visit, and have always been very accommodating. Highly recommend!
Money grabbers! Come with your wallet full. My dog just had a wellness and annual check up back in August. Now they won’t give her her rabies vaccine without another wellness check. Can you tell me when was the last time you, as a human, had to have a check up appointment with your doctor before getting a vaccine? For flu, covid, or any other? Makes absolutely no sense, except that the vaccine cost is only $35, but the wellness check is $100.
They only have compassion for the money on top of being extremely overpriced. A deworming pill would cost me around $170.00 + Taxes ($97.00 for examination + $67 for the pill for a small dog). They don't accept previous examination or prescription from another Veterinary clinic (out of town in my case) The same when your Mechanic fix your car but with the condition that you have to buy overpriced parts from his/her shop. It is the price you have to pay for living in Vancouver. Response: You never told me that you were always happy to fill prescriptions provided from other practices. instead I was told Sorry Those are our protocols we can not accept prescriptions from another Vet clinic. We were very fortunate not to become one of your clients, that's why my dog is not in your files
super friendly and helpful staff. Although they were not taking new patients at this time, and I end up finding another vet. but they were really patient and helpful answer all my questions. ????????????
I have been taking my 2 dogs here for almost a decade, and have been able to see the same doctor consistently. If we have had to schedule (rarely) with another, i’ve learned they are all so knowledged, committed, and best of all so loving towards the animals. The technicians and administration are extremely well practiced and professional. They ensure they make the 24/7 vet contact publicly so you’re always prepared and cared for should you need help outside their hours. They acknowledge you of many insurances, helping the perfect fit for you. The staff & facility are huge but there is still such a small town family feel. We are here to stay.
They have great staff,, fair prices and there great with my dog.
An excellent experience! Got a convenient appointment within days. Clinic was clean and had a fresh, modern vibe. We were taken directly into a private exam room and only had to wait minutes to see the vet! The doc was very friendly, down to earth and didn't try to upsell us on any unnecessary treatments, tests or products. I feel that the prices were very reasonable (I have been charged way more by other vets in the past). Overall, an excellent experience and would be my first choice of clinic if needed in the future.
My experience at Yaletown Pet Hospital was really positive and caring for my little guy, Bernie. Dr. Deb Archeck took the time to talk to me regarding Bernie and my concerns. I really appreciated how she made me feel - calm and assured - something I'm venturing to guess is not the case for anyone when their pet is in distress. She even took the time to keep in touch as to how his health was progressing. Thanks for taking care of Bernie.... and me! Marika
Last week, after 14+ years with us, our dog Grendel died. He did so at home, on his couch, where he felt safe and secure and knew love. A cancer diagnosed 3.5 years ago finally caught up to him, and it was time. The care and compassion shown by Drs Spooner and Robertson was superb throughout. At the end, the latter came to our home, accompanied by Kim (last name not caught -- sorry) and helped us through it, and treated Grendel with the utmost kindness and professionalism both. They explained the procedures, allowed ample time for questions, and twice left the room in order to allow Jason and I to say farewell to a beloved dog and spirit. I cannot imagine a more decent combination of care for a pet, and compassion for his owners, than Jessica and Kim granted that day. When Grendel passed, it was as gentle a release as we could possibly have hoped. The skill and the grace shown by these two utterly humane professionals made it so.
This place truly has your pets best interest at heart. Dr. Myers and the whole team are amazing. A few years ago I switched vets after moving. My cat had always been petrified of vet offices, and would always horribly attack any vet who saw him. It was so bad there were times vets had to sedate him in order to give an exam. The first time I came here Dr. Myers came in, and I warned him of my cats behaviour. He reassured me and started slow for my cat. For the first time ever my cat did not attack or scratch, and towards the end even had the courage to go up to Dr. Myers and ask for pets and cuddles. It's been a few years, and he has not returned to his previous behaviour. Since then I've brought my other two new cats to him as well. One of them is incontinent, and the other is a senior diabetic. They were hard rescue cases, and Dr. Myers took great care of them, and has offered nothing but support and knowledge for their needs. He never tries to upsell unnecessary services, and only recommends what he believes is best for the animal. The whole team takes such great care of the animals and offer a lot of pets and cuddles - to the point I think my pets think the vet's office is a daycare and not a medical office.
When we moved to Vancouver a year ago, I had to find a vet for our beloved 10 year old rescue dog, Tasha. Based on the reviews I read, I decided to give Yaletown Pet Hospital a go. I have had no regrets on that decision. The whole team is great ... the minute you walk in the door you feel welcomed. The care and treatments that Tasha received from Dr. Gavin Myers was exceptional. He is very knowledgeable, a great listener and easy to talk to ..... and he truly cares to do what's best for the animal. When Tasha was diagnosed with late stage lymphosarcoma, Dr. Myers was there for us whenever we needed him. He took our phone calls and addressed our concerns and guided us through the process ... but, always letting us make our own decisions. When it was time to say goodbye to Tasha, Dr. Myers was very understanding of our grief and pain. He was compassionate and caring and you can tell he truly loves animals.
I phoned the clinic on a Sunday, very concerned about a wound on my cat's paw. The person who answered the phone was so kind and helpful. I spoke via phone to Dr Vandermeer the next day and she explained what needed to be done and had a clear plan for what to do it the initial treatment did not work. She alleviated my fears and was very kind & understanding.
Went here for the very first time with our french bulldog yesterday. Easy to book and I love that there's an app too, so it makes rebooking seamless. Our vet Dr. Myers was so lovely to speak to; he was kind, funny, professional, and left us feeling at ease having our puppy there. They also sent a follow up message today to make sure our pup was doing okay post-vaccines, which is something I really appreciate. So happy to have this close to our home!
I’ve been a loyal supporter of Yaletown Pet Hospital for over two years! I brought my dog Millie in for care and vaccinations whenever needed and enjoyed their care. However, after registering Millie, I was traveling extensively for work and decided to add my room mate to the file in case any emergency medical care was required while I was in a plane or another country. My room mate moved out and we no longer have contact with each other. So I needed to remove her from Millie’s file only to be told that my room mate is listed as a CO-OWNER of my dog and that only SHE can remove herself from my dogs file. I understand these policies are in place for good reason but here is my issue: 1) they told me this policy was the LAW which it is not. 2) they never told me any of this upon adding my room mate to the file and we NEVER signed anything to PROVE both of us were the owners. I literally called one day while traveling and added the information to the file and that was it. This has been very distressing for me. To find out that someone I added and no longer speak to, was listed as a CO-OWNER of my dog without my knowledge. I have since requested Millie’s file and will no longer be coming to Yaletown pet. Not to mention, it takes 3 weeks to get an appointment with them because they have accepted too many clients. I no longer recommend this Vet Clinic
Really cool staff and area. Love having coffee here at the 7-11 around the corner and hanging out and listening to good tunes before taking my pit bulls in for service. They really are nice to all people here and nice to you even if you have a lot of stuff going on. Just really hard to park but I don’t drive anyways so it’s good. Super easy acccess from Chinatown and they don’t make you pay first which is awesome.
I swear, my cat LOVES to go to this vet hospital. I brought my cat to YPH recently and even though I wasn’t in the room (for Covid safety), my pet was returned to me, happier and calmer than when she went in. They made thoughtful recommendations for treatment, even including some stress-reducing options rather than just addressing her physical well-being. I appreciate their holistic and understanding approach, plus their level of care and service is top notch. This is my first and only choice for pet care in Vancouver.
This was my first experience in Canada to visit a veterinarian. I was so surprised to see how good the doctor is and how responsible and serious the administration is. The doctor was so nice with my cat, calling him a sweet boy). I noticed that he was really trusting this doctor as she was extremely kind and caring to him. Thanks a lot for being so professional.
I've been in several times with my dog. Although it's rare that she's not been able to see the same vet more than once we have always had good experiences. The staff there are always very polite and smiling.
Wonderful team here. They kept me at ease and updated me about every step with Bella's lempectomy. I knew Bella was in good hands. Thanks team!
the friendliest staff with huge love for animals, we have been taking our old shih tsu here for over a year and they are always very patient with us even though we ask so many questions.
They took more x-rays than I would have liked, otherwise 5*.
What’s the rule of this place? If I cancel an appointment within 24 hours, I got charged, if I am late, I don’t get service or be postponed to next available time, which might be an hour later. BUT, when you want to change my appointment I made weeks weeks ago due to your own reason, I have to accommodate even I have fully scheduled myself. No apology, just repeatedly asked if I can schedule another date, otherwise I have to wait outside of the hospital when I arrive at my scheduled time for whatever time you need until ready. Even after I asked if I can get a phone call 5 mins in advance so I can be there instead of waiting in the wind because I literally live 5 mins walking distance from the hospital, the answer is no, without any sorry, or at least hypocritical “sorry”. Hey Googler, can we invent a cancellation charge to the service provider?
Excellent vet and staff! Everyone was so kind and the advice was thorough and helpful. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Dr. Kong was amazing! She really took the time to explain everything to us in terms we could understand. Our cats can be difficult to handle but she and the rest of the staff were so professional and friendly. Covid safety procedures were really good too.
My 7 month old Lab has had ongoing allergy concerns since he was 10 weeks old. He would lick his paws raw and wake up in multiple times in the night to itch. We’ve talked to three other vets about our concerns and we’re told a variety of things ranging from “it’s normal puppy stuff” to “we can’t do anything about it until he’s older than a year”. We scheduled a consultation with Dr. Karley given the website mentioning her interest in Dermatology concerns. She was lovely. She was the first vet we talked to who took our pups concerns seriously and came up with a comprehensive plan for him. She was also so friendly and really took her time to talk through everything with us. The front desk staff have also been very accomodating and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend this clinic!
Yaletown Pet Hospital has always given both my pets the best of care in the last 7 years, well into their senior years. Their new office at the Expo location was a vast improvement and enabled them not only to carry a large variety of pet foods, but also health products. It brought a whole new dimension to make a bright and pleasant atmosphere for both patients and guardians. Although all the veterinarians are great, Dr. Vandermeer stands out as not only a great professional in her trade, but also a very compassionate human being, even after the passing of one of my pets. It was with her help and care that my Maltese, Frosty lived to 18 yrs., 7 months, and one week. She now helps care for my 19 yr. old Birman cat. I couldn't have done it without her health care and support through many things, The girls are pleasant at the front desk and appointments are punctual. Explanations given are easy to understand along with directions. I will continue to seek my veterinarian needs at Yaletown Pet Hospital and recommend them highly.
We take our 11 week old puppy to Yaletown Animal Hospital and each time we’ve been in we’ve been given first class service and care. From the amazing ladies at reception to the technicians and Vets, I am so impressed and leave feeling so good knowing our pup is in the best hands! They even called to check up on our pup after his second set of shots. Prices are super reasonable. Would recommend a thousand times over and would not take my pet anywhere else!!
The place I would not recommend to anyone who loves their animals. I had a cat that I loved very much, and they treated her with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds, they looked under their microscope, took the blood for the lab, sent some liquid to the lab, and did all sorts of things and that lasted 4 months and my beloved cat had a very aggressive cancer. By the time I found my old vet at another place it was too late to save her. They also treated my dog for joint problem with anti inflammatory meds which did not help at all. Then they wanted to make x-rays, to sedate my dog while doing it, which would cost money... My old vet gave at another place her Cartrophen (injection), no x-rays, no sedation, and the day after she walked normally. I must say that I wasted a lot of money and time at this place, but the worst of all I lost my cat which could have been saved if they only took the lump out immediately.I will never ever again go there.
There is not a better vet in Vancouver than Rob Spooner at YPH. He and the rest of the team there are kind, caring, compassionate and truly love their patients and their work. They are the best
Excellent CoVid protocols and kind, knowledgeable, professional staff. My puppy sees Dr. Kaufmanis and is always excited for her vet appointments.
The review by Cheryl is not true. It is illegal in Canada to spread lies regarding a person or a business in a public forum. I have had all my pets looked after by Yaletown Pet Hospital and their doctors. They have often cut me a break on services and I am grateful for that as well as the compassionate care we received. If you are concerned I would recommend that you call Yaletown Pet Hospital and inquire regarding the posting by Cheryl.
This Vet Hospital is compassionate and professional. My animals feel safe going there, and I feel good knowing they're getting quality treatment and care
As other reviews have stated, the staff here truly care about the well being of your furry friends. Dr. Alecks called me while he was examining my kitten and made sure that he had a full understanding about what life was like for Teddy prior to being brought in for his vaccination. They also followed up the next day to make sure that everything was okay. Such a stark contrast to the other vet's I have dealt with who had little time to have a conversation and seemed as if they cared more about money than the welfare of the furry friends who bring so much joy into this world. I absolutely recommend YPH to anyone who wants the best for their pets!
All the vets here are top notch - we usually see Dr. Seagrist but all are amazing. We also love our vet tech Kim who is so great with my anxious pup. Highly recommend this place
Tried and true. Never feel stressed out or ripped off here, as I definitely have felt at other hospitals/clinics. Extra gold stars for Dr Spooner, Dr Vandermeer and Dr Archek!
Otis loves coming here! Great staff and so friendly. Highly recommend seeing Dr. little
Got a new kitten on Friday called Sunday and had an appointment Thursday. Super quick to get him in. Everyone was super nice. Wasn’t able to go in with him due to Covid ( which I would of preferred ) but the vet was quick to call me. I would recommend to a friend.
Great Technicians, awesome staff, Veterinarian is very caring, took the time to explain everything in detail. I bring my 3 fur babies knowing I am in good hands :) I highly recommend Yale town Pet hospital! If you are looking for honest , caring , and wonderful professionals , from the reception to the Technicians and Veterinarians this is definitely the place for you! Warmest Regards, Mary Papazoglou
This place was pricey but worth it. They took excellent care of my anxious and skittish cat. Everyone that I've interacted with at Yaletown Pet Hospital has been awesome. If you can afford it I highly recommend.
