We had such a positive first experience with Norgate Animal Hospital this weekend, who provided excellent care to our pooch experiencing an acute bout of gastritis. From the intake, to the explanation of the exam process, to the treatment plan, Dr. Pal, Azra, and their colleague (we didn't catch their name) provided compassionate and expert care and our dog is on the road to recovery. No surprises, lots of integrity, and straightforward quality veterinary care! Would highly recommend.

Brought my senior dog Gismo for vestibular syndrome a very scary un expected attack in the middle of the night.Dr Danny understood all though it resembles a stroke it's not ,don't put you dog down ,wait they do come back not all the way depending on age ? Dr.Danny understood and was patient in his evaluation and follow up blood work etc. Good follow up by staff and Danny. Gismo still going for walks and pee mail and full of love????????????

Having a deaf, reactive dog can make vet appointments stressful for Target and a nightmare for me, but the doctors and staff at Norgate always treat him so kindly and make sure his experiences are good (and treat-filled). I've had vet's in the past tell me they would have to put him under to do a basic exam on him because the vet startled him, so the fact that he can get in and out of a vet appointment without so much as a growl is a miracle! Started taking my puppy there because of the work they do with local rescues and will keep going back (despite the 30 minute drive) because of the obvious care and attention they give to my pooch. I feel that they really take the time with my dog to see how she is and to make sure that she is getting everything that she needs, and no more. Plus, I love that I can book online and within minutes have an appointment for the next day. This is increasingly rare with all the vets in Vancouver so overloaded with a new COVID clients.

Disappointed. My guinea pig has been tilting its head, losing balance, and having troubles walking, which seems to be a serious infections in the ears. I called and they said they can't treat it, but could do a free examination. I went and the assistant lady was very nice, but the vet just simply scolding me for not cutting and grooming its fur, shaved off a few clumps I missed and then to my shock I was charged $40 for the "minor shaving". (he didn't even ask if I was ok with it, I could've just shaved those off at home myself) He didn't listen to what I had to say about my observations and simply took a 1 second look in the ears. Told me there is nothing wrong and hurried me out of there. Not returning.

After getting ripped off from another vet I decided to give these guys a shot.I have been taking Paris a frenchie with many allergies.to them for the past 5 years and they are abselutely amazing. Dr Sidu and Danny usually look after her and they always have great advice on how I could keep her in a healthy form. If you are looking for a bet that is not looking to rip you off this is the place to take your pets.

I brought my dog to Norgate for digestion issues and I wouldn't bring her back. Waiting in the consultation room full of product ads using scare tactics prepared me for the doctor being the same way. After pointing out that my dog smells bad and barely looking at her he started to list me a load of tests and procedures to diagnose my dog. Blood tests, IV, antibiotics 2 or 3-ways, a complete panel of tests, etc. I barely understood why that was necessary so I asked him why and that i just want to do what is necessary and nothing extra. He said fine I'll remove the blood tests. Then his assistant walked in with a long lists of costs ($600) for me to sign. I had to question each one and felt pressured to sign. The best part is after what felt like a quick sales pitch, they ask me for a $400 deposit. I thought they're joking. I think my dog is the deposit? Do they think I will leave my dog with them for treatment and not pay them? They told me to come back at 4pm to collect my dog but when I did, they said they had told me 7pm. So I waited. When I saw the assistant again I questioned her on all the stuff they prescribed for just a diarrhea problem. She basically said the antibiotics they gave her by IV should kill whatever was causing the problem. So I asked her why do I need a $200 panel of tests and extra antibiotics? She didn't know so she brought another doctor and he also confirmed that I don't have to pay for those and he cancelled them. Trust factor: 0. A vet that tries to push sales on you because your dog is sick is exactly why people have problems trusting vets. And Norgate does exactly that. My whole experience there felt awkward and I felt they were trying to make money first above all else.

Dr. Danny saved my cat's life. My kitten has a rare disease called "Rectal Prolapse", meaning there is excessive tissue out of his rare. Dr. Danny was pretty much my last option as other vets couldn't treat my kitten's disease. Dr. Danny offered me great advise and extensive care to my cat. Took my puppy in as I was concerned about a cough she was struggling with and the vet was very diligent. Did an exam, asked about her vaccines, and only proceeded with the X-ray after providing me with a quote and getting my permission to proceed. Both Dr. Andy and Dr. Sidhu were personable and kind, but the praise ends there because of the gross incompetency. Our 7 year old beagle had to have a growth removed from the front side of his ribcage. The surgery seemed to go well, but his wound was swelling up in size within days. We were diligently giving him the prescribed antibiotics, but nothing seemed to help. Within less than a week, our dog was leaking fluid through the stitches. We thought he might have torn them through scratching, so we put a boot on his back foot (on top of the e-collar Norgate sold us). We took him in, Dr. Sidhu applied staple sutures and we were given a few more days worth of antibiotics. We noticed that the additional antibiotics we were given were much larger than the doses from the initial round. Odd. The original dose we were given were 125mg, whereas these new ones were 375mg. We asked about this and were informed that we were mistakenly given much too low a dose the first time. We had been giving him an ineffective dose of antibiotics because someone had swapped out the wrong dose (despite the fact we had paid the much higher price for the right dose). These staple stitches lasted 3 days before they were "leaking" again. We know that our dog had had no opportunity to scratch or bite these stitches. Back to Norgate. At which point we were told that the stitches would need to be removed and redone, along with a drainage tube to allow any fluid buildup to be safely excreted (which should have been included the first time so that the fluid pressure against the stitches would not cause them to burst). So our dog has been anesthetized twice in the span of just over a week. And we got a hefty bill to cover this second procedure. We get our dog home shortly after this second surgical procedure, and within 2 hours the end of the drainage tube falls out of his wound. Norgate has the audacity to suggest he pulled it out. Our dog was still passed out from the anesthesia, so he was incapable of scratching or biting (not to mention, he was wearing the cone this whole time). I am fed up. We make the trek back to consult with our old vet in Vancouver. He inspects the sutures, the wound and the drainage tube that fell out (we kept it) and is baffled by the incompetency. He cannot fathom why a drainage tube was not included in the first procedure to prevent the bursting of stitches and the risk of infection. Due to Norgate's incompetency, our Vancouver vet was unable to easily remove the rest of the tube that was still lodged inside our dog. Our dog had to go under general anesthesia for the THIRD time to fix Norgate's mistakes. Our vet removes the tube and is forced to remove additional flesh around the wound due to infection. We take our dog home, his stitches are clean, precise and solid. Our vet makes room for drainage the wound never swells or becomes problematic.

As a young couple and a student, finances are something I am mindful of, so knowing that Norgate is so reasonably priced puts my mind at ease. All around a great experience!

I brought my 10 year old Scottish terrier in because she had very itchy ears. I was able to get booked in very quickly which was nice. The vet took a look at her ears and told us she had an infection, then gave us some medicine to drop into her ear to clear it. After the visit to the vet, we noticed that she couldn't seem to hear anything anymore. We threw metal bowls on the floor right next to her when she napped and she didn't flinch at all (she's usually very sensitive to noise). So, we brought her in again and the vet confirmed that they had ruptured her ear drum by accident when they were inspecting her ears last time. She was completely deaf in both ears so I'm guessing they had ruptured both ear drums! They said that her ear drum would heal in 2--3 weeks and that we should bring her in again for another check up. Accident or not, I can't bring her in to see this vet anymore.

Not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from, maybe the old owners/doctors? Anyways I took my dog there today for some skin issues and it was fantastic!!! After trying other vets on the north shore and being told "we aren't accepting new patients" I didn't know vets did that but okay, I booked my appointment online and they called me within an hour to confirm,I haven't come across a vet that does that, also the vet was very nice and caring as well as the assistants, also and this is the most important thing, it is affordable!! I was very happy with the service and will recommend them to anyone, I'm planning on taking my cat there as well, so glad I came to them.

I went to Norgate when my kitten Rue wasn’t eating. It turned out he had swallowed some thing and at the end had to be euthanized as the damage inside of him was very bad. The staff at Northgate were so sympathetic and I had an amazing experience with them. you could tell they genuinely cared and did everything in their power they could to help. I got a paw print of my kitten and they included a card which all the vets and staff signed and wrote really nice things on the card. I would definitely recommend taking your animals here.

My child's rat is bleeding and I found Norgate Animal Hospital when I googled it. Called to ask if they treat rats and receptionist said NO. So I asked if she knew of a place that did and bluntly told me to Google it as she was too busy. This is exactly how I found their number - their website says they treat rodents (which is what I thought a rat was?) in their exotic animal care! Absolutely uncaring and rude! Would suggest too that they update their website too to exclude rodents.

Called around a few places in Vancouver to neuter a kitten, quotes were dumb (similar to the prices anyone breeding anything during covid-19 to sell). A friend said he neutered his pup at Norgate. Booked with them, not only they quoted way less vs Vancouver Vets, it ended up being even cheaper. So happy with the service and staff as well.

I had a very positive first experience with Norgate Animal Hospital. I submitted a request for an appointment, and Staff booked one next day at a time that worked for my husband and I. Our husky had an injury to her foot. Dr Danny had a very calm tone, and was very articulate and knowledgeable about the issue. He offered two at home remedies, and only sold us an over the counter shampoo after we shared that we had been using a prescription anti-septic soap. He cleaned her wound thoroughly and did a quick full examination and reported back that she had no other observable health issues or injuries. The appointment fee was very reasonable, the least expensive that I have ever paid, and for the highest quality vet experience I have had to date. Dr. Danny came out to introduce himself when we picked up our dog. We will return again.

Had my Dog in for stitches, the stitches came out a couple days later. Instead of standing behind their work they blamed it on the dog, who was on leash and not active at all, and tried to charge me again. The cost for the first visit was the higher then most other vets would have charged, and insisted on putting her under to do the work again for the second time. I was looking for a vet for my dog, after this experience I am still looking. I suggest you do the same. This hospital seems to be more interested in the one time client then a returning one. Had to remove the stitches myself as they wanted to charge for that as well.

When I came to the clinic I already knew that my cat would need the dental surgery and I was scared of how many ???? he needs to loose and how much it is going to cost me. They were so sensitive and explained everything needs to be done and how much it will cost. I can see that they care. Today we had a surgery and hope my cat will recover fine, but at least I feel that I did and they did everything to extend his full life.( the bill was what I expected and I was explained) P.s. I took the cat before to another clinic In WV where they just told me “ his teeth are infected and we need to remove them , it will cost at least $$$$” Do your research, as for me I think I found the place I trust.

With vets you really are putting your faith in them to not screw you over with needless tests, and to be upfront with the potential results. We brought our cat in for what was 99% a urinary tract infection. The vet was insistent that he do numerous other tests on the cat without even trying the anti biotics first. He was not up front with what the tests would uncover, which is extremely important as there really isn't a point in testing for things if we can't afford the treatment should our cat be suffering from that condition. We ended up just asking for the anti biotics only and taking the cat home. After a few days the cat was completely fine and we saved ourselves HUNDREDS of dollars. Do NOT bring your pet here. They are trying to scam you to make more money.

Norgate animal hospital is sufficient and caring! They did not hesitate to help me with a stray cat I had brought in! "Snapps" a program which helps with First Nations community pets did not hesitate either to help me get Patches all fixed up, they work together with Norgate animals hospital to help animals in need. I took my dog there and I have repeatedly been disappointed with their ability and attitude. Everytime I take my dog there all they want to do is thousands of dollars worth of tests just to get an answer. I finally had enough and changed vets and after 1 visit with the new vet clinic they diagnosed my dog and treated her for $130. My dog is now back to normal in less than a week! Don't waste your time or money you will walk out with no answers and feel robbed.

Dr.sidhu is by far the best vet in the lower mainland. I commute all the way from Surrey and would not have it any other way. They treat the pets as if they are their own. Highly recommend them. Brought my dog here as my friend recommended Norgate to me after I was unhappy with my other vet. I am over the moon with the way my dog was treated here and frankly, how I was treated. The staff are all so lovely and the doctor was so gentle and loving towards my dog who in the end had to have his anal glands expressed, which the dr could tell right away needed to happen when I told my concerns to him. I will be returning here, 10/10 !!!

'Mummy' my senior cat got dental work done here. It wasnt done properly and she wouldnt eat after it. Then i discovred that she is rotting in the mouth. Multiple rounds of medcines could not fix. She suffred for months before I made the decision to put her down. Would give zero stars.

This is my second review ever, I came last Sunday with my old dog that was in very bad shape and I can say hardly enough how my dog and I were taking care of.Dr. Pal had was very professional, very caring, and provided an amazing service. I'm not the type of person to write reviews but I think people should know how amazing this place is. I have a Shiba inu who is 3 years old. For those who know what a Shiba inu is know how tough a breed these dogs can be. I use to take him to another vet and after awhile he became more aggressive. They eventually told me he can no longer come there. That was over a year ago. Recently he got really sick and i had to do something. I called Norgate Animal hospital and asked them if they can handle aggressive dogs. They told me yes they can. This animal hospital is amazing!! I brought him in not convinced but sure enough they muzzled him, gave him all the vaccines he was past due on, did xrays to find out what was wrong, even trimmed his nails which I wasn't able to do for 3 years!! They were thorough, polite, understanding, and the best vet I have ever been too. This animal hospital is amazing!! All of the assistants and doctors are very sweet and gentle They give you a variety of choices and talk to you about the best one for certain situations. I really recommend going to this vet!!

Would say Norgate animal hospital use to be great, kind and caring towards clients and they’re pets, past while I have been so disappointed in the services given from not just the reception that run the place but also the doctors. I don’t know why anyone should hire young girls that are constantly high on something and just treat you like garbage when you call in with questions. I have never heard of a vet who tells you that no doctors are working on duty when they are fully open and to go to emergency if it’s that bad. Just be careful taking your beloved pet here as you don’t know what is really happening in the back room with all these young girls that are “NOT” registered vets but act like they are. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS NORGATE ANIMAL HOSPITAL TO ANYONE. PLEASE DO YOUR STUDY FIRST.

As with Nick J and Amy Bell's reviews, I experienced the same issue. I felt emotionally manipulated by the vet into believing the issues were much worse than I thought, I felt like I was not heard when I expressed that, and I felt I was talked down to when I suggested the issues may not be as bad as he claimed. Our cat caught our kitten's common cat cold. Kitten recovered, and our cat started to show signs of improvement after about a week and a bit of steam baths, and had been eating and drinking normally, but we wanted to get him checked out. The vet immediately told us he think it may be a serious viral issue and possibly cat leukemia, even though our cat although over a year ago was an outdoor cat had been indoors for at least a year with 0 symptoms or issues and just caught this cold after our kitten had it. We couldn't remember at that exact moment if he had the 3 year vaccine or 1 year, but he didn't care to check (or let us check) and just assumed and wanted to test. I am not a trained vet, but I think it's opportunistic to not even consider what I have to say about what I suspect the severity of my cats issue is and emotionally manipulate us, as young and concerned cat owners. His quote for this issue was over $800 dollars worth of tests. Not including medication. It would have been around $1000 total. Unfortunately, I chose to trust him, got most of the tests and payed over $500 because he convinced us the issue was dire. It did not matter to him that we expressed our cat was obviously recovering from the worst of the cold and had no previous issues before related to cold or virus. He basically said he couldn't trust us and did not consider that at all. I will add, we were also coming for a separate issue that showed up before the cold showed up, which is a small discoloration on the eye. He used this to fuel his viral theory, even though I said it showed up separately to the cold, and of course the eye test we got showed it was just a bit of scarring. Even though I knew our cat was still eating, drinking, and using the litter box only a little less than usual because of the cat cold and told the vet as much, he wanted to do a $300 blood panel because he suspected he might have an infection so deep that it was in his blood... In hindsight, I feel like an absolute fool. There is no way my cat was septic, but he emotionally manipulated us and convinced us otherwise and we paid. Congratulations on the $500+ you got out of us for a vet visit that should have been less than $150. All the tests came back healthy except for the fact that he needed basic antibiotics to help him with his common cat cold/URI and the blood test showed he was a bit dehydrated. Of course he wanted to do a $55 injection of saline solution into him, before I asked if I could just feed him more water daily with a syringe for awhile and add more wet food to his diet, which he reluctantly admitted would work as well. Also, even despite these test results, he somehow still wasn't convinced it wasn't a virus so he recommended an anti-viral shedding medication as well, which we declined. At that point I really wasn't sure this vet had my pet's best interests in mind anymore, but was rather trying to sell more medication, as it is simply not good to be pumping your cat full of completely unnecessary medications. I will say though, he did give us a syringe from his clinic for feeding the water to my cat. For how much I paid, I think it's the least he could do. I will never come back here and I would never recommend anyone see this condescending, manipulative, money-hungry veterinarian. I will add, that the ladies at the front desk were lovely however, on the phone and in person.

We have been bringing our Lab/Border Collie mix to Norgate Animal hospital for approximately 8 years - and couldn’t be happier with the treatment we have received. Our dog is now 11years old and Doctor Danny is so kind and gentle with her. She has just gone through a second ACL surgery (both done at Norgate, six years apart) and I feel like the whole staff really care about her recovery. All the Veterinary Assistants are lovely. I recommend Norgate Animal Hospital for genuine, caring, value for money service

After 3 years of taking my dogs here, I trusted Dr. Sidhu to remove a tumor on my dog's tongue. The surgery was done sub par. Tumor not removed properly and grew back. Dr. Sidhu would not retun my phone calls. Had to take my dog to another vet and pay to have the surgery done properly. Disappointed in this vet for the sub standard care, and ignoring me, and making my dog suffer through another surgery. This vet owes me $900 for the second surgery I had to oay for due to the first ine he botched.

Very unprofessional vet clinic. The young girls at the front desk are rude and snotty. They’re even rude to you over the phone when you ask a simple question. They dont even know what they’re talking about and have 0 knowledge on veterinary medicine. Will not be going back there and will not recommend to anybody. Not only that, but they’re very expensive and force you to pay for things when they aren’t needed. I’m so glad I got a second opinion instead of wasting money here.

Dr Danny and Azra were very kind with our FlatCoat retriever who got very sick very fast and ended up passing away of Cancer. We LOVE this vet clinic!! Dr Danny cared for our pup after he was injured by a car. It was a highly traumatic accident for our dog as well as for my husband and I, who adore our dog and we did not initially know what the prognosis would be. Dr Danny was caring, sensitive, patient and kind throughout the entire experience, and his skill was apparent as he made critical decisions along the way which eventually allowed our pup to make a full recovery and return to his happy, healthy self again. In addition, our dog has suffered from seizures his entire life, and Dr Danny is very knowledgeable and confident in his care of this condition, even when anesthesia is needed for a procedure (ie dental work). The icing on the cake is that this clinic does not seem to ‘upsell’, at least certainly not to the extent that many other vet clinics do. If you’re looking for a vet who cares about the well-being of animals above all else, this is the place!
