This vet has cared for 3 generations of my cats over the past 20 years. They are in a small building and so I am not sure how many new patients they can manage so you should call and see if they are accepting new patients before an emergency arises. My current cat is 16 years old and they give her very good care but sometimes to speed up her comfort with dental issues I take her to another place that has more room for surgeries however, I keep this vet as her primary medical provider and I am very happy with them.

Best vets I have ever found. Fidel and Monica are both amazingly knowledgeable and caring. They, as well as the whole staff have provided the best care I could ask for, and always give you as much information as possible so you can make an informed decision. Taking into account that my rescue dog has a lot of anxiety, I have to be extra careful about who I trust with her life and well-being. Blue Cross is the only vet in Vancouver I can recommend.

This hospital has been taken over by *new vets* who are absolutely fantastic. I cannot rave enough about these new owners, who are the most incredible vets I have yet encountered. They are recent grads of the best Canadian vet colleges and I swear they must have graduated top-of-class - they are up to date on the very latest developments in treatments and new medicines and they have basically saved my dog's life after he had reached a breaking point in struggling with allergies and infections. Although I have moved away from the area I go all the way across town to get to them. Every time we visit, I am loaded down with so much information and tips, trial medicines, etc -- I honestly don't feel like I have paid enough! When do you ever say that about a vet visit! I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

Took my cat here here 8 years ago, my cat was a kitten, and he would not eat and could not stop vomiting They had an on call veterinarian,. I told him I sewed a lot with out x-rays only poking at my kitten he told me that they would need to cut my cat open and remove a sewing needle. And it would cost 800$ or more. Didn't suggest to get tests or x-rays or test straight to surgery. Asap I said that's absurd, they gave him a Saline shot and I decided to feed him(as well as give him water) with a needleless syringe Cat was fine He laying by my feet now. Never any other Heath problems . I should have known better due to What happened when I took my cat before that one in. It was a 911 issue. It was the only place open any where near me. May have been a holiday . I have no options s Was told I would have to make an appointment for the next day I bagged them to see my cat I even told them he wouldn't make it till morning. They told me to come back the next day. I told them I would be calling to cancel my appointment if he passed in the night. He passed away that night, in pain. There was nothing I could do. I'm not to sure why I took my kitten there after that. It was in a panic moment after losing my cat a few months previous ( I'm sorry but unless they have changed their policies I don't recommend this vet

We are thrilled with Blue Cross Pet Hospital! We have two cats and a Golden Retriever who are looked after by Dr. Monica Faltyn. Recently, Dr. Monica found a minuscule lump in Vincent, our Norwegian Forest cat's throat that was cancerous. Due to her thorough examination, we were able to remove the lump before it spread. We owe Vincent's life to the professionals at Blue Cross Pet Hospital and will always refer our fur friends there too.

So this morning I came in with my puppy to get some blood work done for her spay. My experiemce with this vet before today has been okay, we mainly use them because they are close to us. Our dog has anxiety, we have spent thousands of dollars on positive reward training with her and she isn’t even 6 months old yet. We have been through a lot with her, she is a rescue off the street, and we have almost rehomed her twice because she is a special case, but we are sticking with her and trying to give her the best we can. The receptionist (not a vet) proceeded to give us unwarranted training advice, as if she expected we had done nothing at all for her, (we get a lot of judgement because we are young looking, tattooed, etc.) when the truth is, the exact opposite.The advice came from a very pushy and judgemental place, not once did she ask “what kind of training have you don’t with her” she skipped right to judgement in a loud tone for all to hear. The vet Lucy came out and gave us actual compassion and constructive feedback for a dog like Arya and could tell she was not your regular dog with just behavioural issues. So thank you Lucy! I will be considering heavily whether or not to come to this vet for the spay. They left my partner and I feeling very angry and upset, my partner was reduced to tears.

I moved in with my boyfriend and his cat (who I'd known since she was about three weeks old) about three years ago and actually didn't really think about vets until about a year and a half ago when she started losing weight, getting moody and scratching and biting herself almost neurotically. We tried putting a cone on her to let the sores heal but long story short we ended up taking her here in a panic because she opened up her shoulder in an oozing attempt to relieve herself of what turned out to be severe flea allergy dermatitis. Neither of us had ever dealt with fleas before. The vet (I'm afraid I can't remember her name) was really thorough in her explanation of how to deal with the issue, even showing us how to use a flea comb and helping my boyfriend learn how to give cats pills. They called multiple times during our several month long treatment plan to check up on our cat and once I was having an issue and called in and one of the vet techs actually took the time to help me for a minute over the phone. In general, the office is active in its communication with pet owners in regards to scheduling appointments and keeping up with treatment during issues. We've been really pleased with all of the help we've received. My only issue is that the exam room always has a other animal hair and dander in it. I understand that a lot of animals leave fluffy offerings on the ground, but I'm a little concerned (and this may be unfounded) that things like fleas may be passed on like that. I wish I could give 4.5 stars.

The only place (ok aside from Lynn Valley Vet) I'll trust with my furbabe. I've worked with both the vets in the past and trust their judgement completely. They're both upfront and honest. Entire staff is respectful and kind. Only downside is parking of course since it's right on hastings by a bus stop. I can usually find a spot around the corner on a residential side street though. You get what you pay for with veterinary care and quality isn't cheap. This is care for a member of our family and they deserve the best.

Blue Cross is my back-up & emergency vet, being closest to my residence. I've occasionally consulted with them since the late 1990s. On the first occasion I marveled as my cat nonchalantly walked into the examining room by herself when called by the attending vet, whom she had never met before! That is simply not the kind of thing one tends to see in a vet's office and it left a strong positive impression. Clearly the people who work here really are attuned to the animals, unlike the stressed, distracted and sometimes rude staff at other nameless pet care facilities. Recently I have had a more somber reason to turn to Blue Cross, as my elderly cats have passed away. In both cases my cat passed away peacefully at home, and Blue Cross handled the cremation with genuine kindness and sensitivity. As someone who struggles with a restrictive budget I was also pleased to find their rates for this service to be very reasonable. Although I have not consulted them often, my experience with Blue Cross spans nearly 20 years now. I am pleased to report they have consistent high standards of care. I confidently recommend them.

I had been coming to the Hospital for a couple of years just to buy my cat his special food, but when I moved within walking distance of the Hospital I decided to make it my cat's regular vet clinic. All of the staff and both of the vets here are super friendly and caring. The prices are really reasonable, but it's the level of care that has impressed me. My cat had a dental surgery here and some tests for a urinary issue and I've been so impressed at the time I'm given. The vets here spend lots of time with you in person and are also great with phone follow-up. I've never felt pressured to get procedures/tests that were not necessary. I've also witnessed staff being super patient and very polite with other client's when I've been waiting. Blue Cross is an awesome neighbourhood vet that I would totally recommend!

I have been a client at this hospital, but it's been years, because my pets haven't been sick. My cat broke her hip or back and is pulling herself by her front legs to move around. I have asthma and my health is compromised, so I'm supposed to stay in. I called my community animal hospital "Blue Cross" explaining everything to her. I just need to put my suffering cat to sleep. I was pleading with her. She took my name and told me, it's been to long since I've been there and they're just taking recent patients. I have lived in this community for over 10 years, it has probably been some time. That doesn't mean I quit being their patient. My pets haven't been sick, until now, because they stay indoors. Fortunately, the Vancouver SPCA Animal hospital, gave me the help and support I desperately needed. I highly recommend them, amazing staff!

I took my dog, Toffee, here in 2018. The doctor, whose name I can’t remember, tall, male talked and talked trying to impress and eventually gave my senior dog with chronic GI METACAM, that almost killed her. She had a “clicking shoulder” was not in pain I HATE MYSELF FOR BRINGING HER THERE. It was Canada West who saved her, but the damage was done…her kidneys got damaged from this. Not even a phonecall, an apology… thousands of dollars spent and most definitely the beginning of her downfall. I am just saying you should be ASHAMED of yourself. Stop treatinh dogs yoi dont KNOW. Be more SENSITIVE with senior dogs and stop shoving MEDS in their mouths for MONEY! ENOUGH! The ladies at the reception are amazing, but that clown needs to get fired.

The people who took over BCPH from Dr. Hartney have made it clear over the years that making an extra buck is more important to them than the welfare of animals. They are a business, yes, and they also provide a much needed service used by people from across the income spectrum. My elderly parents are among them and are living of their modest retirement savings in a very expensive city. They have always paid BCPH for services rendered and for medication and supplies and never carried a balance. They have been customers there for over 15 years. And yet BCPH sees fit to nickel and dime them and other people and other people in similar circumstances by raising prices without warning, charging hefty fees on split orders and changing policy without warning and demanding upfront payment before ordering medication. From reliable long-time customers who never carry a balance who have spent several thousand dollars at the clinic. This greedy behaviour is shameful and reflects badly on the owner-operators. I will no longer be recommending BCPH to friends and acquaintances.

Easily one of the best vets I have ever visited. Dr. Murphy was very friendly and gentle with my cat who had lost a sizable amount of weight. The Dr. was very calming and my cat never became stressed during the visit. He very quickly made a couple suggestions as to the diagnosis (which were confirmed) and suggested a blood test to confirm (which returned exactly as he thought). The Dr. was not pushy, described all the possible risks, benefits and costs and left it to me to determine the best course of action. My cat improved immediately after visiting and is thriving. I highly recommend the vet.

I recently had to take my cat in to have her put to sleep. The kindness and compassion Dr. Murphy and the vet techs showed my beautiful, sweet cat made this most terrible time peaceful and gentle. I felt like they shared my grief and respected my love for my pet, and they gave me as much time as I needed, both before and after, to say goodbye to my loved one. The whole experience stood in stark contrast to the rushed and indifferent clinic where I had my previous cat put to sleep. If I get another pet, I will absolutely bring her to Blue Cross for her veterinary care.

If Doctor Murphy wasn't around I would probably lose my little cutie. He had allergenic reactions. He has a patch of hair and skin missing on his shoulder. very weak and unable to move, eat or hold anything in stomach. he lost a huge amount of weight. All I say is it was the worst time in his life and he was only 2 years old. we took him to every doctor and did all the test and we also took him to specialist and nothing worked . our last hope was Dr. Murphy and we tried going to him and now its been 4 years that Max is healthy and I have no idea how to thank Dr. Murphy.

I’m so thankful for Blue Cross. Fidel is great. Monica is my usual practitioner and she is amazing. Completely dedicated to her profession and cares deeply for the animals. She explains in detail any issue and provides options as well as recommendations for action. She has gone out of her way for emergencies and I very much appreciate the level of service I receive here. The staff are firm as they are very busy but very good - I always get a check in call for my dog after a visit. I live in North Van but find it easier and faster to jump over the second narrows than to fight towards west van for some other choices that used to make sense before traffic here went crazy.

We recently lost our Feline Daughter to the fact that She was elderly. My Wife and I were absolutely heartbroken, and the Staff at Blue Cross were very sympathetic and understanding. They took care of everything,and handled her cremation with loving care. The only negative thing,(which was disappointing to report is that this "caring Hospital" recently refused to treat a kitty in medical distress,having seizures. This Hospital has gone "down hill" a bit,since Dr. Hartney left.

I have been taking my animals here for years. Both Fidel and Monica are terrific at their jobs! I have moved further away from the clinic but drive there anyway just for their expertise. They are great with animals, pointing out useful things to know and new ways of viewing your animal in a calm professional manner. I feel that I am always charged fairly and that different diagnosis have been explained in easy to understand terms. The front of staff are very compassionate and helpful too.

We are so happy with this place. We moved care for our dog here after not being happy or trusting the care elsewhere. The vets and assistants here are all wonderful and exceptionally good communicators. Our dog recently had dental surgery with four extractions - they called us through the process and explained why a few teeth needed to be removed (we were very hesitant to do that). Afterwards they showed me photos and x-rays and explained it all thoroughly. The care our dog receives has always been necessary, no up-selling (which unfortunately seems rare). Thank you Blue Cross for making this easy!

I think taking our pets to the vet can be hard as we want to do whats best for our pets, but sometimes the hosptials try an upsell a little too much. I did not have this sense at all at blue cross. Im really happy about how my dog was treated and delighted to find a new vet who seems really honest.

Had a bad experience at a previous vet so a friend recommended here to get my cat spayed. Very nice place, very clean, quiet, small and personal. Everyone was very friendly and patient with my grumpy little cat. Despite all the hisses, everyone had a compliment for her. I felt very comfortable there and had an easy time trusting the caring staff. Seems a little more expensive than other places but honestly, the extra cost is more than worth the peace of mind.

Dr. Monica Faltyn is absolutely fantastic! Our cat was just not eating enough and Dr. Faltyn did a great job covering the bases with what may or may not have been wrong. I had been to a different vet the day before and hadn't been that confident in where we were going, though had a completely different experience with Dr. Faltyn. She explained what she wanted to test for and why. She was great with our kitty, very thorough in her exam as well. Dr. Faltyn called me the next day to go over the results and another person there called again today just to check in and make sure things were ok. Fantastic staff and brilliant vet!
