My shy, timid rescue dog practically drags me here to get treats and attention. She barely notices she's being weighed and examined. So appreciate this team!

Just tried to book for my cat and was told the earliest was a month from now (and she wasn’t particularly apologetic sounding on the phone either, wouldn’t even give a hint about this until after having gone through trying to look up the file up twice and availability was my first question). Disappointing. It’s a busy time for them but booking ahead that far is not going to work in general. Maybe it’s time to bring in another vet for that location and extend opening hours. A little friendlier on the phone always helps too when giving people the news that you’re not able to provide service. *uodate: Had a friendly person book an appointment for me on the phone at another vet with several times to choose from within the week, so all is good and my cat got the shots she needed. Thanks for your unfriendly and unapologetic reply!

Dr Sharp and office staff are lovely and my visits here have remained affordable

I have been to a lot of veterinary clinics and animal hospitals in my 50+ years and this one is a POSITIVE standout... ranking 2nd place behind the previous vet I had for 10+ years in Toronto who sadly passed away suddenly. Every vet I've seen since including animal hospitals, I have not returned for a 2nd visit, until now. I arrived in BC from Toronto just over 2 weeks ago. My dog and I were not in good shape upon arrival as we were involved in a serious accident just 2 hours outside of Vancouver. A semi-truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and destroyed EVERYTHING (my pick up truck & travel trailer) BUT US (my dog & I). Lucky to be alive but in bad shape, our first stop after I was out of the hospital was VCA. Although the staff was nice enough and took good care of my dog AT THE TIME I was really disappointed when I called them back a few days later because my dog was not doing so well and they treated me like they had never seen me before, wanting me to pay the hefty exam fee again, after telling me at the end of my initial $1,100.oo visit to call if there's any reoccurrance or further problems. That's when I looked up vets in the area, found Animal Medical Clinic and took a walk down with my dog. It was 30 mins till close and of course knew I wouldn't see a vet that day but wanted to see if they were taking new patients, etc., and if they could schedule an appointment rather quickly. The man at reception (sorry, have a concussion, can't remember his name) was so nice, patient and caring... even staying after closing to tell me all about the clinic, register us as a new client and even though the appointment schedule was jammed, he squeezed us in for an appointment Thursday morning and it was then Tuesday evening. My appointment was at their other office and I was impressed that they offer to drive your dog there from the office we were at and let you view the appointment via live video, so you can watch what's going on and speak with the vet like you were actually there. We saw Dr. Alexine Crofts at the appointment and I cannot speak highly enough about the care and concern she showed as well as her patience and willingness to work with my dog, as I have a large rottweiler who does not take well to ANY stranger touching her, let alone a vet, which has caused other vets to shy away from, turn us away or sedate her unnecessarily. Dr. Alexine didn't give it a second thought... welcomed us and took my dog in without hesitation (& just a muzzle). Additionally, it was a pleasant surprise at the end of our visit when it came time to pay the bill. It was UNDER what I was expecting... all-in including meds, food and exam fee was only a bit more than just the exam fee at VCA! They even followed up a few days later to see how she was doing. So although I have had minimal interactions with the staff there and only one visit, I couldn't be happier with the level of experienced care my dog received... their kindness & patience... and that my wallet was not empty when I left ???? Raven & I thank you!

What an great experience. The person at reception was friendly, witty, kind and helpful. The vetrinarian, Dr. Sharp, was thorough, knowledgeable and very sensitive to the needs of both the dog and the humans. I have a large breed dog which can make extra attention necessary in assessment and diagnostics. All our questions were answered well, nothing 'pushed', and pricing was right reasonable with an estimate provided for upcoming treatment.

They're great here - seriously. Fair pricing and a vet and assistant that care! My dog had some GI problems and they weren't quick to suggest xray or a million tests. They opted we take our time, bland diet and antibiotics. They gave me some GI food for free too, and my dog is appreciative, happy & healthy! They've got the best dental treats too :)

Dr Wilkie and all the other vets and nurses here took amazing care of Winston. Winston is a Scottish Fold, likely homozygous, and unfortunately has OCD, a degenerative disease for the cartilage. AMC took every care possible to ensure Winston has everything he needs to slow the progression of his OCD and prescribed all kinds of painkillers to suit his needs. I am happy to report Winston doesn’t need his meds yet but AMC went to incredible lengths to ensure that he lives a comfortable, cozy life! Their prices are also much more reasonable compared to any vet in this are, especially that one clinic near Denman (ahem). Anyway, we are very lucky to find Winston such a commit clinic! We really appreciate you guys. Also, we’re so flattered by all the views Winston’s pictures are getting :) if anyone wants more of him, you can find him on IG @winston.the.fold

The staff are amazing! This clinic is one of those ones where you wonder if you should keep it to yourself so you don't have to share or tell the world because they deserve it! You and your pets are treated so well, healthcare is given in a range of options to suit what you can manage not just the most expensive, and they actually listen! But don't go here so I can still get appointments with ease. 100 stars to this incredible team!

Such a good vet. They really care about my pup, and have provided excellent care at every appointment, and call up in between to check on her. Have recommended them (and their sister clinic in West Vancouver) to all my other local pet parents.

My dog was dying and suffering. I had just been to the west end vet clinic on Friday and it was Monday. I left a message Monday morning with the west end vet before they opened very upset saying I had to put my dog down and could they come do it at my home 2 blocks away. i also sent an email. got no response at all, no call from the vet. I called several hours later and they told me they would not come to my house but i could bring my dog there at 5:30 to do it . It his meant my dog would suffer more and I could not understand why they could not come to my home if they had time at the clinic. the lack of caring and concern for my dog was disgusting. I called the animal medical clinic who I had never been to and the phone person was so nice, was so caring and compassionate and she fit me in and when I went there the staff was so kind and caring. the vet was wonderful and caring and they let my dog go in peace in a very calming pleasant atmosphere and I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend this vet clinic.

Cannot recommend this clinic enough! My kitty is spicy and generally does not like humans. The vet, Dr. Sharp and the technicians couldn't have been nicer! They were so understanding, kind, patient and helpful with me and my kitty - truly went over and above for her first visit. Very lucky to have found them!

Dr. Sharp and the staff at the Georgia Street clinic looked after our pug Miko over the last few years, and we always found them to be trustworthy, caring, and professional. Dr. Catherine Sharp is an outstanding veterinarian and we didn't hesitate to rely on her opinions. A few months ago, we learned that Miko, at the age of 14, had cancer. Dr. Sharp explained the various options that were available to us and encouraged us to take the time needed to make our decisions. We chose to make our little friend's remaining time as comfortable and happy as possible, and to have him put to sleep peacefully and painlessly. When the time came to say goodbye, Dr. Sharp and her colleague were as understanding and supportive as always. We'll always be grateful for the care and kindness we and Miko experienced with everyone we met at the Animal Medical Clinic.

Very friendly and helpful clinic! Would recommend in a heartbeat :).

*Review has been modified as I was threatened with a lawsuit for defamation. The below review is 100% my honest perception of my experience with Dr Catherine Sharpe** Sharpe had been treating my 10 year old Maltese since January '21. He came to her with stable mitral valve disease. I had previously seen a cardiologist in Montreal several times, so I was prepared for what potential symptoms to look out for with this disease and that getting him on medication at the right time was crucial. I also pursued a cardiac ultrasound in April '21 to ensure that I was staying on top of this. In late June, my dog started presenting with symptoms of congestive heart failure: sudden weight loss, increased resting respiratory rate, a new cough, and intolerance to exercise. I had brought him into and communicated this to Sharpe several times concerned about these symptoms. Each time I felt like I was treated like I was paranoid and she didn't have time for my worries. Her response to my concerns actually made me feel like I was bothering her and wasting her time. Instead of further investigating (an X-ray was done and reviewed by a radiologist but nothing more definitive was pursued or even recommended at that time) what I understand to be textbook symptoms of congestive heart failure, she put him on steroids (I questioned this decision as I knew steroids are dangerous with heart disease and can potentially accelerate the disease) for chronic bronchitis. Sharpe stated that he is tired because "he is old" and losing weight but "wasn't unhealthy". His cough got worse on the steroids and she recommended that I double his dose. Skip ahead to September, I emailed Sharpe reporting my latest findings concerned about his resting respiratory rate. Still to this day I have not received a reply or acknowledgment of that email. Shortly after that, my dog has a sudden attack where he was struggling to breathe. After a couple of days in the emergency hospital in Nanaimo, is diagnosed with pulmonary edema and late stage congestive heart failure. Two vets that I spoke with there reviewed his history, previous xrays, etc, and both concluded that he likely did not have bronchitis and steroids were not the path they would have gone down. They immediately put him on heart medication and I count my blessings everyday because he is doing much better and is still with me today. In my opinion, investigating the stage of his heart disease and putting him on heart medication instead, could have bought him more time by preventing irreversible damage to his heart, improved his quality of life, and saved me almost $4000. I can confidently say this now that he has been receiving the proper medication and treatment for his disease. His energy has improved, his cough has improved, and he gained almost all of his weight back. I know that this disease is progressive and inevitably will result in his passing, but my job as a pet parent is to do the right thing for his health. I previously had an amazing vet in Montreal that cared about his well-being and we were staying on top of this. I put my trust in Catherine Sharpe as the medical professional and in turn feel that I failed my poor little dog when he needed me most. Weeks after Sharpe received these reports from the hospital, along with a video that I emailed of him struggling to breathe and looking for advice, I didn't get a call/email/text, nothing from her. I sent an email reiterating my devastation and disappointment in what I consider her lack of medical professionalism and care. Only then did I receive a call from her where she made excuses for every point in the email and apologized ONLY for the impression that I have and nothing more. It shocked me and also in my opinion speaks volumes, that instead of demonstrating to me any kind of accountability for her actions or that she could learn from this experience, it seems her priority was to contact a law firm to have my experience with her censored and removed from google.
