We've been going here for about 6 years for our StBernard Bella. They've been honest with us as far as we can tell since the beginning. Only trying to over sell us once and i honestly don't remember what that was for. I think something with the ear infections. Great staff, i personally believe they should expand as they are always busy. Highly recommend.

I am very grateful for the staff at Companion Care Animal Hospital for the care given to my dog. She became increasingly changed and they fit me in for an appointment that same week. They changed how they managed all the clients, because of the pandemic in a way that minimized risks to all people. Thank you for that too! The vet took the time to explain every aspect of what potentially is happening with Lucy and has a tentative plan in place already even while we wait for test results. So as I started out saying: I am grateful and also, I highly recommend this vet practice.

Dr Downey is awesome..he is very caring and takes his time with each animal.....my dog cocoa had a heart condition and I was going to put him down. Dr said we could get another year if we put him on heart meds..we did...got 9 more months..when it was time to let him go,i got to be with him in the office until I was ready to let him go. Dr Downey has euthanized a few of my animals...my cat Tiger was 21 years old... I always receive a beautiful card with a hand written note.... I hope Dr Downey knows how much this means to a grieving person...my animals are my best biddies. My cat tizziepast away at home 15 minutes before they closed...they waited for me to bring her in to be cremated....I will continue to bring all my animals in forever..... I call and i am always treated with respect.... Thank you for loving animals as much as you do....PS your fees are very reasonable....

I left a morning message for the vet tech to call me back because our dog had a bad cough. It was a long wait for the call back which came after 6pm. But the tech was courteous and very helpful. She scheduled an appointment for the next morning. We are very grateful for being able to come right in. Then when we got there, they were ready and had us come right into a room out of concern for contagion. The vet and staff were great! And thankfully it wasn't too expensive. Over all a very positive experience. I'm thankful we chose this animal hospital when we moved into the area.

I am the mom of 3 fur babies who have been patients of dr. downie. he is the 6th and only vet who diagnosed my female cat's chronic illness. and the only one who treated her for pain. my male kitty died very suddenly a year later. The drs. and staff were the most compassionate as i have ever seen. and i have see a lot as i worked at the S.P.C.A.for 6 yrs. i rescued my pup a yr. later at the age of 4. she had to have 2 knee surgeries and is on daily meds but i wouldn't take her anywhere else. I just love the kindness i feel that she gets there from them, and that includes cuddling and gentle voices. she is 11 yrs. now and doing great.

I started going to companion care 11 years ago, after taking my friend along with her 7 cats to an appointment there. They were so friendly and made it so simple, seeing all of the cats at once instead of requiring separate appointments. They told me they love pitbulls and would happily deal with the aggressive chihuahua I had who had previously been mistreated by other veterinarians. They were very good to all of my dogs, and so kind when the time came to put my BoBo to rest. I continue to take my 4 dogs there now and I am always happy with the care they receive. It's like each animal they treat is one of their own. I highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those with aggressive pets or breeds that are looked down upon elsewhere.

I have been bringing my cat Lucy to Dr. Downey and have been happy with the care she received. Two weeks ago I adopted an 8yr old rescue dog, and for 3 days he's been having very bad diahheria, so I put him on a bland diet, he hasn't improved, so I was able to get a stool sample, went there to see if they coyld just check it, giving them ALL his past medical records, and was told no, they wouldn't do it because he wasn't a patient. I can't believe they just couldn't look at it. I didn't expect it to be done immediately but even tomorrow or next day would have been fine. Will nevet go back. Luckily for my dog, I found a vet that saw Ruley a half hour after I called, even though I had never been therw. He told me an animal should not suffer for two days, naturally that vet will now be the caretaker of my furbabies. His practice is what every vet office should be.I took my dog there, he checked the sample I had and gave me meds. He put my dogs needs ahead of "business practice."

Been taking my dog to Companion Care for over 13 years. Today I came home to find him so sick that I wasn't sure he would even make to the vet's office. I called Companion Care and told them how sick he was and that I thought it might be time to end his suffering. They told me they were too busy and to take him to an emergency clinic. Very uncaring. I could understand if I wasn't a client but I've been taking him to them for over 13 years. So much for loyalty to their customers. And don't blame it on the pandemic! 3 years ago I sat and waited over an hour and a half past my appointment time. I found out when I finally got in there that they had two emergencies which is why they were backed up. They could do that then but not this time?? Unbelievable. Right now I'm so sad and grieving over my loss but also very angry that they would do that to me and my dog. Can't and won't recommend them to anyone.

Most of the time this place is a 5 star but I g ave it 4 stars because the last time I went they were so busy and over scheduled I waited for nearly 2 hours after my appointment time to have my pet seen. EDIT. I had to take away another star for wait time.This is starting to become routine. After calling multiple times I had to wait another 1 hour after my scheduled appointment time for my cats appointment after being told they would be right out.

I want to thank Dr. Downy for taking excellent care of my baby Tootsie. We went in yesterday for her annual exam. I am fully vaccinated and was allowed back in. I witnessed yet again how patient and thorough Dr. Downey is. Her physical exam was so detailed. Dr. Downy never rushes you. He also doesn't try to sell you unnecessary things. He offers such a valuable service and makes things so incredibly easy he has a magnificent way with animals Tootsie is always instantly at ease in his presence. I am so happy we have him.

I brought my cat there who was originally a feral cat that i found 3 yrs ago. The first time i brought her there she acted up a lot but she need shots if i was going to keep her. She wouldnt even let them cut her nails. But this time i had an appointment with Dr Downey and she was a perfect lady. He was so gentle with her and she wasnt scared at all. I know if its an emergency you cant always pick your Dr, but i will try and have her taken care of by Dr Downey whenever possible. Very impressed.

Today I took Willie, my 19 yr. old Tiger cat who had just run out of time, to end his struggles with the diminishing abilities he no longer had. I took my cat in today for a physical and updated shots! I have a siamese cat and he does not go out of the house except to go to the vets once a year. So, when I took him in, he was meowing very loudly as he was nervous and scared. Dr M. Stewart was very nice, the girl who let me in the office was pleasant, and the young girl who cashed me out was freindly and all smiled! Except for one person behind the front desk who did not look up or smile, all was good!

I can’t say enough about Dr. Downey and his staff. He is the MOST caring person. When my dog had a very aggressive cancer, the prognosis was not good. He looked into it and reached out to his contacts. He called me the next day to suggest a medicine regimen (over the counter meds) that might help. We started it right away. This is a year later and she is still with us. They originally gave her only 4 months. He LOVES animals and it shows. Companion Care has only loving and kind people working there. They’re VERY reasonably priced compare to other veterinarians. I trust them COMPLETELY with my animal’s needs.

This place is a joke. Years ago I took one of my dogs there for a check up. The dog nipped at the doctor while trimming the dogs nails and the doctor hit my dog in the nose with the nail clippers. I was going to give them another chance but the lady on the phone had an attitude.

This review is long overdue and should have been written weeks ago. Unfortunately, we recently lost our Beagle of 16+ years. Dr Downey has been our Vet for over 15 years. He is not only kind and caring but his diagnosis and treatment of our pet 2 1/2 yrs ago with Cushing's Disease was spot on. I truly believe that it was through his expertise that we were able to have her as long as we did. He always returns a phone call and never makes you feel rushed. A lot of times, these calls came after a long day of office hours or surgeries, but the call was always returned. He has always been kind, compassionate and caring. Never in 15 years was he ever aloof. If you are anything like me and your pet is your baby then you only want the best and the best is what you get when you deal with Dr Downey. I have referred 2 other family members to Dr Downey and they too feel that their pet is getting amazing care and treatment . Our family cannot express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Companion Care for the many years of amazing care and compassion that they showed to our beloved pet. I recommend Dr Downey to everyone. Thank you Dr Downey for a wonderful 15yrs. The pets and families that visit your facility are very lucky to have met you!

Even though we have many Vets closer to home. Companion Care has provided excellent affordable care, while showing compassion and understanding . They spend time explaining things in a clear way you can understand. When we recently had an emergency in the middle of the night and our only option was to go to a 24/7 emergency animal hospital. We notified them first thing in the morning and Dr Downey opened his schedule to arrange emergency surgery. Enabling us to transfer our baby from the emergency hospital to his care.

My family dog was 14 years old and his heath declined so terribly in a matter of three days, Dr Downey was not Max's vet prior as we just moved to Niagara county and when we knew it was time and didn't want max to suffer we called companion care where we came in right away. Not only did Dr. Downey rush us in a room so we could be alone in the final moments he offered such genuine care from the moment we walked in. He asked about max and wanted to hear stories about max and he was so sweet and acted like we knew him forever. Max was no longer suffering we got to say good bye and had such closure. It was a hard hit for my family to loose max and my son checked the mail after and there was a card from dr. Downey himself. It wasn't a photo copy he was very personal and loving and before today my son was still upset and we read the card and gave us closure we did the right thing and had memories. So thank you Dr Downey you went above and beyond to make a bad time so much easier and I wish we could have brought max to you sooner. Took our large dog, Molly, to have her nails trimmed. They were way overgrown. She had a bad experience of some sort with her original vet. She had to be muzzled because of that experience. Took her for her first visit to Companion Care last October (2019) and had a very positive visit. This week she went to have her nails done. Lisa was the absolute best with her. Molly was in and out way sooner than we expected. Lisa said she was just a good girl and let her trim her nails, no fuss no muzzle!! We were speechless. Kudos to Lisa and Companion Care. Thank you!

My dog was perfectly healthy going in for routine shots, and they killed him. To find out they made an accident and killed my golden. They still made me pay in full for checkup also. Great job killing my dog!

I have been bringing my fur babies to this hospital since Dr Downey opened. My pup Kahlua was patient number #14. I can not say enough great things about all of my experience here and all of the wonderful care that has been provided. When my Kahlua crossed the rainbow bridge we were treated with such kindness and compassion. I will never go anywhere else and could never give enough credit to Dr Downey and his staff. Highly recommended!

I took our GWP dog to Dr M after he regurgitated a furry toy on 12/31/15. He had diarrhea and a loss of appetite. Over the next 7 weeks Dr M treated him as he kept losing wt. Finally an Internal Med vet diagnosed him with an obstruction, so Dr M operated and the dog died 4 days later at their hospital during the night. He died from ascites fluid and probable chest fluid due to his hypoproteinemia after the surgery. He probably would have lived if he had better post op care. He would have lived if a timely dx had been made earlier. This is what you get for 4000 dollars at this hospital. I spoke with Dr D about a settlement after such a miserable outcome for our dear friend, Mickey. But he never responded back, I guess I will have to sue for any justice. Lesson: do not take your dog here or your local vet for ER/urgent care. Go to specialists or ER. These vets are fine for maintenance and routine issues, but no serious unknowns.

These vets don't care about your animals. All they are concerned about is your $. The male doctor there is cold and heartless that acts like he is above you. The female is not much better. Do your pets a favor and take them someplace else.
