You know that we don't usually stop to put feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian is classified in the category of Animal hospital.
The vets are very friendly, you can feel the empathy, they do understand that pets are part of the family. Thank you so much. Highly recommended.
I adore this vet clinic. We've been bringing our animals here for over five years. Dr Kam has seen our dogs through their senior years, for which we are forever grateful. It's a small clinic, but the people working there have big hearts.
The staff was really nice. The vet was super friendly, greeting my dog with love, and helped me with everything I needed. Recommended vet clinic.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET THERE EVER!!!! the receptionist with the accent is the most uncaring rude woman that i have ever seen in my life!!
Dr. Puneet Chahal is the only vet I trust for my cat. She's super knowledgeable and she's able to answer all my questions. When I took my cat in for a teeth clean, he needed to be sedated. Dr. Puneet was the only one comforting me when I was showing signs of anxiety. My cat has a mild heart murmur and I get super nervous when he's put under. I'm willing to drive for 30 mins just to see her.
Dr. Brar is a very good veterinarian! Any time we bring our kittens to this vet we get professional help and care for a reasonable price.
We needed an emergency appointment as new patient when my 10 year old dog had blood clots in urine- her regular vets office had person on phone that would only schedule 3 days later for appointment. I reached out to Facebook for referrals. This clinic came very highly recommended. Person that answered the phone was so helpful and knowledgeable. Had appointment within a few hours (not days) and saw Dr. Brar Such a great vet - had my pet feeling better in a couple days. Followed up with me to share lab results immediately. Drs are great - and so are the front desk people Highly recommend!!!!!
Ive been taking my pets to this veterinarian place for over four years now. I've been to other veterinarians in New West beforehand and found that they were very expensive and always pushed services on me that I didn't need for my pets. I then discovered doctor Kam and his wonderful team at Royal Columbia Square veterinary hospital. I've been having some issues with my cat and they have always been very very accommodating and affordable. Thank you so much for your wonderful service. ♥️ I can always count on them to fit my pets in quickly too. ????
Truly the best vet ever. Almost always open.
I was a new client, and took my elderly Chihuahua, Moby, in for an exam and vaccinations. We are new to the area, so my ultimate goal was to establish a new veterinarian for my "fur kids." The first thing that I want to mention is that they have a very clean reception and exam rooms. We saw Dr. Manesh for Moby's appointment today. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. We were very satisfied with our visit with him! Upon checking out, the office staff was very helpful! And I must mention too that I felt their prices were reasonable! Also, they have a super Friendly Office cat forgot his name .Columbia square Vet has a new happy client!
They are the best in New Westminster. Have been going for nearly 20 years with no complaints.
I have been going to this vet clinic for several years now and they have always been awesome. They have long hours and affordable prices and the quality of the care is always top notch. I still take my pets here now that I live in Vancouver because they are always so reliable. I have referred many friends here as well!
Reception area is way too small. Staff seems to get confused and don't seem to care who is in line first, and just service clients in a random order. Non-responsive to my pet insurance company that asked for medical records of my pet, and my requests on behalf of the pet insurance company were ignored too.
We had to unfortunately bring in our cat Jeff for a checkup, luckily he turned out okay! The team here have a genuine passion for pets and community. I was super happy with how we were treated, communication and safety. Highly recommend, great service
Thank you for getting us in on short notice when our dog was in pain. You helped out our minds at ease and began him on the road to healing. Thank you from all of us.
I found the staff to be pleasant, but the vet to be lacking in compassion - also unable to diagnose my sick kitty after $450 dollars of testing. He seemed to be more interested in selling more expensive tests rather than looking for affordable treatments.
I am so pleased to know that there are honest people in this industry. My wife and I just started taking our 11 year old pup here and I can easily say that this is our favorite veterinary clinic we have ever used. Dr. Brar is extremely knowledgeable and thorough, and has followed up with us twice after the visit to check in on our dog and see if she is doing better. It is obvious that he truly cares about the animals, and loves what he does. This will most definitely be our vet clinic moving forward, and I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.
Dr. Cam Brar very knowledgeable and friendly. Business hours are great. Open 8 AM to 10 PM daily except weekend which sligh change with business hours. They are very fair when it comes to pricing. I am very happy and blessed to find a great vetnarian for my dog!!
Had my puppy's shots all done here easy and amazing experience!!
Easily the best pet care shop in the Lower Mainland. The staff actually like animals, and they aren't ridiculous with their prices!
The staff really care about animals. Very gentle, very knowledgeable.
I absolutely love Dr.s and staff! We have had to visit a few more times than normal, due to my mischievous puppy! Most recently calli had to have emergency surgery to remove an avocado pit! stuck in her intestines They took great care of calli and she is healing well! The staff truly cares about animals and calli loves them all! I highly recommend taking your pet to them
Not bad... Cheaper than certain other clinics....but if you have to return 3 times when you only needed one good visit, are you really saving money.... Depends on your particular circumstances of course.
Fantastic staff! They have accommodated a couple of emergency visits for our husky and answered all of our questions. Prices are also very reasonable. Thank you so much!
Really does care about the animals & professional skills~
Customer service is terrible, vet cancelling appointments a few hours before, not calling back when they say they will call right back, and rushing through vital information on follow ups. When it comes to pet care it's like taking care of a family member and i never felt like they truly cared. Edit: They saw the review and dropped me as a client, didn't ask why i felt this way or asked any way to right what was done. So unprofessional!
Cannot say enough good things about this place. Dr. Brar really cares about the animals and also explains things well. The prices are great. I can afford this place and when they tell me a test needs to be done I believe them. I know they are cash grabbing. If you need a good vet go here. they are so awesome
Best place to take your pet.
I have been going to Columbia Square animal hospital for 7 years with my dog Brody. The vets are all knowledgeable and truly love the animals. I specifically chose them when I was originally deciding on a vet after I heard someone brought in a perfectly healthy kitten to euthanize and they refused but still took the kitten and put it up for adoption at the Bosleys next door. Their passion for pets is clear and their prices are very reasonable if you don't have pet insurance.
Even though I didn't like the diagnosis for my dog, I can't fault the vet and staff. They were all knowledgeable and supportive and I highly recommend this place!
Do not take your pet here! We adopted a puppy and took her to this vets as it seemed to have good reviews on Google. We ended up changing vets a couple of months later because they made SO many mistakes. They nearly gave her the wrong shots, mixed up her worming medication, and when we asked for her records, which we needed to send to day care, there was multiple mistakes on it! Including the dates her shots were given, her date of birth, and that she was spayed (which she was not!) Our puppy has been on and off sick with diarrhoea and vomiting, they did a blood test, told us not to worry, and to wait it out. At this point we felt like we couldn't trust them, so we took her to another vets for a second opinion. They did multiple test and found out that she had giardia. This was something her sister also had when they were adopted (her owners reached out to us to let us know) and we asked Columbia to specifically check for giardia with a poop test when we took her to them on the first visit. Our new vet checked her records and informed us that they did not do a specific test and the one they did do was unlikely to show giardia. Even though we specifically asked to check for giardia! So our puppy has been poorly for months because Columbia is incompetent! Another small thing is they took our puppy in the back to get a blood sample and shaved her chest without informing us before they did it. Not a huge deal since we would have said yes to that if needed anyway, but bizarre not to inform us before hand. The vet was also rude, and spoke over us when we were trying to explain things, therefor not really listening to us. The reception seems disorganised, and no one really seems to care about your pet there. The different between here and our new vets is huge! We regret not changing vets sooner.
Dr. Kanwardeep Brar is incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional. He only cares about money. Take your dog to somewhere else if you really care!!! My dog has diarrhea for a while, and his appetite and energy level are normal. 7 minutes in exam room, he told me my dog may have a pancreatitis and should have a blood test as well as x-ray to confirm. 1.For people who doesn't know about pancreatitis, one symptom is strong tummy pain. My dog screamed when the doctor "touched" his tummy. However, when the i scratched his belly, he was pleased. And later, i took my dog to other hospital, the vet also confirmed that my dog doesn't have belly pain. I suspected Dr. Brar PINCHED my dog when i was concentrated on calming my dog down, so he can convinced me to spend money on unnecessary test. 2. Another main symptom of pancreatitis is constantly vomiting. My dog doesn't vomit, and Dr. Brar knew it. I took my dog to another hospital. The vet there told me my dog's condition doesn't fit most symptoms of pancreatitis. So pancreatitis is definitely not the first thing to worry about. Also, the blood test will not give much information about pancreatitis. Blood test only gives information about dog's general health. My experience with Columbia Square Animal Hospital is horrible. I can't help to thinking if Dr. Brar hurt my dog on purpose during the exam and will that damage my dog's health. This hospital should be shut down.
Best vets in the area.
I have been bringing my cat here since she was a kitten and she is now 4 years old. The vets and staff are always kind and really care about the animals.
I've been to other vets in Vancouver and they told me I had to spend a lot of money for a bunch of different things for my dog. I went to Columbia square vet for a second opinion and they became my new vet the minute I walked through the door. Dr. Brar is super honest and will take his time with you. He will stay and answer all of your questions until you leave completely happy. I adopted my dog last year and he had bad oral hygiene from his pervious owner. Recently he had to get surgery to get some teeth pulled and cleaned. The entire staff was great during this anxious time! They did a great job with the entire procedure. My dog seemed very comfortable and I was updated throughout all the steps. I always tell anyone that has a pet to come here! You will love it.
My boss referred me here I am always apprehensive about going to the vets office. This is because for the longest time I took my babies to VCA vet in Vancouver, and I knew that there they were solely focused on the profit. When Karma, a Foxhound I recently adopted, didn't get better from a respiratory infection, I called Columbia Square Veterinary. In fact, Even though Karma wasn't a current patient, they managed to get me in the same day. When I went staff & Dr Brar, were exceptionally friendly, and took the time to make sure my girl was taken care of. In fact, after all, they fit me in last minute into their busy schedule. After this experience, I won't take my two pups anywhere else! If you are looking for a new vet, I recommend checking this place out!
The original vet is no longer there, when I called they did not have a vet and said about a 3 week wait for the new vet to start. Telephone staff were rude, abrupt and did not care about past clients.
The most affordable vet in Lower Mainland. The staff are very accommodating and nice. I am giving 4 stars because it was hard to find the place.
Awesome clinic. Saved my dog's life. My reg vet couldn't get my very sick dog in for 2 day's. Columbia square vet took him in right away. I took my dog to South Burnaby vet for 8 yrs. I will not be returning. I would give this vet 10 stars if I could. From the desk thru the whole hospital the staff was awesome. Dr Brar took a half hour to explain everything I needed to do to take cake of my dog once I took him home. He was there for the whole day. He needed labs iv and many other meds. Thank God for that caring vet and all of the staff. They have in house labs and much more equipment to care for our pets. I definitely will keep them as my dog's vet.
They have taken great care of my dog whenever we have needed their help. They give clear instructions on medication and are patient with questions. No wonder they're always so busy!
I have been taking my cats here for 5 years now, they've always been super friendly and the doctor explains everything well. Prices are cheaper than our old vet at North Road, and the doctor has often thrown in free services such as nail clipping for our pets when it was deemed necessary. Their new receptionists are not nearly as good as the old ones though, as before they would always remember our face and ask about specific pets by name when we went in for food or medicine. They were also very sweet when one of our cats passed away and allowed my family to come in for an emergency visit when we were turned away from another emergency hospital, simply because they remembered and cared for our cat. I will definitely keep taking my cat and our new kittens there despite the new staff because both doctors are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Dr. Kam is great with our dog. We had some "bad" experiences with other doctors so we always ask for Dr. Kam and now he knows our dog. Like the fact that they're open late.
Great working hours and friendly staff. I took my poppy yesterday for the first time and the allergy treatment is apparently working. I might update my review depending on the results because the treatment is for 10 days.
Highly recommended
We moved here from Victoria and 2 weeks after arriving, our adventurous little female cat took a tumble out our apartment window ! I was frantic and felt like the worst pet owner ever. Columbia square Vet was amazing. I found them via neighbors, and was able to schedule a same day appointment. They keep me calm. The ladies in the front were gentle and understanding. The vet (Dr.Brar) did a thorough exam and explained everything to us. Furthermore, the price for all this was very reasonable compared to Victoria. I am very grateful and plan to make Columbia square my regular vet office.
Not very helpful. The doctor didnt do a very thorough check of our kitten. No flee check, no worm check. He didnt give us any pointers. The receptionist was giving my partner in the waiting room harmfully uneducated advice. Not a very inviting place. They dont seem to enjoy their job like my current vet does.
Amzing service! Squeezed me in when all other clinics in the area were closed over long weekend. Super clean office, incredibly friendly staff . They made my cat feel comfortable which is hard to do because tbh he's kind of a grumpy cat. Anyhow my cat is better and I went home with peace of mind. I'll be returning in a few months for a tartar cleaning. Y'all are the best!
They are amazing! They have good prices and a friendly staff!
this place is amazing. the people there really seem to care about the animals that come in.
Very good doctor opens 7days a week free parking the people in the front very nice
The Doctor and staff are very nice people. Unfortunately had to meet when we put our cat down but they all were extremely nice and caring.
Animal hospital in Columbia Square
Always accommodating. Nothing but the best service even before I took my dog there.
(Translated) Good service and personalized attention (Original) Buen servicio y atención personalizada
Thank you for your professional service. Our cat, at 12 years, became anemic. Tests found she was too far gone. You gave me the right direction and support to help her on her way.
I've been taking my cats to this vet for 4 years and recently just got a puppy. I would have liked to have kept all my animals in one area for their vet needs but was greeted with absolute rudeness from the staff saying they're not taking any more clients. Would not recommend. Find another vet.
These people are fantastic, they aren't like other vets that gouge your wallet, they actually have the best interest of your pet and cheque book
Came for the first time today I cannot rave enough about this place! with my Great Dane puppy (10 months) and Dr Brar did amazing with him! The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating with the large breed. I have gone to other vets and left with more questions than answers but Dr Brar provided great insight to my puppy and it seemed like he treated holistically instead of pushing medications. I will definitely be making this Vet my permanent vet!!
We cannot even begin to describe the gratitude and positive experience we have had with gang at Columbia Square Animal Hospital. Our little guy, Columbus, was in and out for the hospital for a period of over a month, as heartbreaking as it was bringing him in, we knew he was being kept in good hands. Dr. Kam was always very gentle with Columbus and very understanding to our situation. We knew he was well looked after when we were leaving him overnight. He provided us with so much information and made sure that we had updates throughout the day. They really put the needs of the animals first. Once we brought Columbus in half an hour before closing and they stayed behind to take care of him and did not make us go elsewhere, or wait till the next morning. Thank you would not even cover the appreciation we have for all the care and attention they gave to Columbus. It is because of the lovely people and Dr. Kam that we were able to celebrate his 2nd birthday with him last week. A million thank yous!!
Wonderful staff and a great location. Very patient with my little chicken of a cat.
Amazing staffs and vets. Always that I need to bring my dog they are very caring and helpful.
Best place to get a cat fixed paid way less then for my first cat.

Our dogs vet. They have been very according and fair prices so far.
Incredible vets! Extremely knowledgable and actually care about the well being of your pet rather than money. Highly recommend! :)
I have been to this vet a couple times however while trying to book an appointment they've refused even the basic of needs. I was denied scheduling a rabies shot, deworming, and nail trimming. And when asked why, Was told because of the pandemic and if I didn't like it, then to find another vet. Receptionist on the phone was extremely rude.
I have used this veterinary hospital since it first opened. I have always been treated fairly ,courteously and kindly . . Thoroughly recommend Dr Brar and his son .
Best vet as always
Very affordable, kind and attentive veterinarians and staff. I highly recommend them.
The best and the most professional doc for pets
The staff and vets at this clinic are friendly and incredibly dedicated to the health and well being of your pet. I have been in regularly for skin and pre-arthritis issues with my 11 year old french bulldog, and they truly take the time to listen to your concerns and go through every option available. They are clear with pricing of medication and procedures, which is very important. I highly recommend them!
The staff here is always lovely and willing to help. I always seem to get the Father vet, he's attentive and makes sure my pets get the care they need. Gives options of what we can do and lets me decide from there.
I have to give one star because I took my cat here and spent over $750 in total for tests because the vet said “just in case” but the best diagnosis we got was “sensitive stomach” to his constant vomiting. The receptionist was extremely friendly and other than that, visits went very well. Due to that experience I will not be coming back, but hope that others have a better experience.
Columbia Square Animal Hospital is most recommended. Best prices, great care. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I know my cats are in safe hands.????
This place deserves a negative 10 stars. The front waiting area is always filthy and the small cramped examination rooms are non-ventilated properly which makes the rooms reek like body odor. Dr. Brar doesn't care about your animals, this vet hospital is simply a money pit. I've taken my french bulldog here since she was a puppy and he constantly refers to my dog as "he" despite correctly him multiple times. Last year in December, my frenchie wasn't feeling well and kept on trying to nip at her back legs. I took her to see Dr. Brar and without any testing - he advised me that she had fleas (not common in the winter) and sold me two packets of flea medicine to my two dogs. He had also given her this "shot" to help with the pain. She ended up being paralyzed 2 days later. I took her back to the vet and he had advised me that she had IVDD and even with 2 rounds of back surgery, she may not be able to walk again because she was already paralyzed. He told me that I should've brought her in earlier, well I did and you misdiagnosed her. I had to make the difficult decision of euthanizing her because she was such an active dog and I couldn't see her suffer through 2 back surgeries without the chance of ever being able to walk again. While I was balling my eyes out crying, his staff acted in disgusting manner and attempted to sell me on a decorated urn and paw prints. Repeatedly asking me are you sure you don't want to buy this? This vet is a pure example of you get what you pay for. Save money on vet visits and have your dog pass away when she is just 2 years old.
Great people and very positive environment, charges were nominal.
The best.
Always great service and I love how they are open late.
I wanted to like them so much as they come highly recommended by the New West community but unfortunately, I have not been impressed. I tried booking online 2 times and never heard back from anyone. I called the office and spoke to a man who took all of my information down and said they would call me to book an appointment, no one called. I called back and spoke to someone else who took all my information down and they said they would call me back for an appointment, no one did. Finally I called again and they told me that they have no record of any of my requests. I found them to be very unorganized and unprofessional. Now to go find a different vet clinic.
Good prices, amazing doctors. 100% recommended.
This place provided the worst experience in animal care and customer service I could imagine. They are unorganized and don't meet the skillset required to facilitate animals. The doctor wasn't even able to take my pet's temperature. Please take your loved ones anywhere else.
They are pretty quick to get you in & you can book on line. Fees are similar to other local vets. The waiting area is a bit small but all in all its not bad at all!
My experiences at Columbia Square have always been very positive. Lately, it’s been hard to get appointments at any vet on short notice, but they have been very accommodating and have squeezed me in when I had a bit of an emergency with my cat. The vets and the staff are good at explaining procedures and I find the prices to be very affordable. The food prices here are also a bit cheaper compared to other clinics.
They always take great care of both our cats any ye they need to go in or for their yearly check up
These people are literal scam artists. If you call them out on their Shady practices they will call the police on you as if you've done something wrong. They will also deny care to your seizing animal because you called them out on their Shady practices and then praying on people's love for animals. I highly highly highly recommend Atlas Animal Hospital Vancouver they are open 24/7 and at night they still charge daytime rates it is $23 for an exam. Alternatively Killarney Animal Hospital in Vancouver is just as good they alternate the doctor's with Atlas. Columbia Square Animal Hospital administered medication to my animal knowing that I only had $40 told me that the bill was 80 and then refused to tell me the medication that they had given my cat even though she was having a seizure and I needed to know what the medication was so that I can go to another competent vet and get the reaction counteracted. These people are straight-up evil and should not be in business.
I was recommended to Columbia Square Animal Hospital from at least 3 different people who take their pets here, and after hearing many good things about this place. I recently adopted a senior blind dog from a rescue and took him in for a check-up to make sure he was in a clean bill of health. I was seen by Dr. Brar and he and the front desk staff were great. He checked my dog, advised of some preventive measures and indicated for some things that would need to be done in the near future. He provided great care and answered my questions and concerns. The cost of the check-up and visit was also very reasonable. The front desk staff and vet techs were also very nice. There were a lot of pets and people coming and going as we were waiting and even as we were leaving. Just goes to show the level of customer service and great care this animal hospital provides in the community and within the New Westminster area.
Awesome staff
They are thorough and the vets are caring
We love the vets and how fair they are. Great clinic!
Such caring doctors and staff! We are so glad that we relocated to this clinic when we moved to town
Fantastic place. The vet we saw handled our very scared Havanese really well. Never seen him so calm with a stranger like that before. They booked us in quickly as our dog was acting really strangely and helped diagnose the problem and gave us the correct medication for the issue (our guy had pulled a muscle in his back) would really reccomned them!
I agree that they have very reasonable prices but some of their protocols are questionable. My dog just came in to get a dental cleaning and before that I called them to ask if I need to bring some food so that he can eat after the cleaning, they said that I don’t need to bring any food and my dog will eat after he gets home. So after the cleaning when I picked him up his breath smelled like canned food so obviously they fed canned food to him because I never give him canned food so there’s no way he will have that smell secondly he literally just got his teeth cleaned so how on earth will his mouth smell like canned food unless they fed some to him. This really annoys me because they didn’t call or even asked if he had allergies. The thing is my dog is on a raw diet so his digestive tract is not use to cooked and processed food like canned food therefore he had diarrhea after he got home. He’s already in discomfort because of his teeth extraction and now he has diarrhea
Very Friendly & Caring Staff. ????????????
They have never tried to provide me with unnecessary services (even though my cats are insured and I’m will to do whatever it takes for their health). They are kind and patient. Also during the pandemic they have done a really good job of making sure there are no service interruptions while still maintaining great safety. It’s a great place with great people.
Great doctors and staff here. Treat the people and animals well.
I've always loved this vet because of their care & concern & excellent service. But I was disappointed this time. Due to covid they're now providing their services standing out on the sidewalk. So when I brought my dog for his annual vaccines I was disappointed that the vet came out & in 15 seconds was done. In the past they'd look him over & do more of a check up (listen to his heart, check his teeth, feel his joints & tummy etc.) & ask about his overall health. Not the case today.
Good vet, reasonably priced
Absolutely love this place and their friendly staff. My dog has been coming here since she was a pup and is nothing but excited to walk through the door. Really appreciate this place for the care they give to animals and the great value they provide. Edit: Still love it.
This place has some of the best pricing I've seen in the area and they're also very efficient. They have always explained everything in a way that makes sense and if your pet's situation seems urgent, they'll usually find a way to squeeze you in even if they're fully booked. Been taking my pets here for years!
The prices are reasonable but I have some issues with this place.. The receptionists are sometimes rude, abrupt & never seem to be able to answer your questions without consulting with the vets. The receptionists often got the gender & names of my cats wrong & this was annoying and I got sick and tired of correcting them over & over again. 3 years ago when I took one of my older cats in they put her on some iv fluid for a little while then given medicine to give her at home & she died the next day. I was devastated and so angry! I sent a copy of her blood work to a Vancouver vet for a 2nd opinion and was told she could have lived longer & they were surprised by what she was being prescribed based on her conditions. After confronting them about this, the Columbia square animal hospital told me they didn't want my business any longer. I told them I was going to contact the collage of veterinarians about my treatment and the girl in reception said "go right ahead" and dismissed me rudely. I also said I was going to give them a bad review and one vet quickly phoned me back saying I could still go to them. They are close to where I live so location is convenient but have never forgotten the past experience & hesitated to go back until recently when I enquired about getting a new cat spayed & was given a price & approximate date just to have another rude receptionist call me back the next day & lie to me saying they do not perform spays or neutering any longer claiming they are only doing major surgery and to go elsewhere. I have since learned this was all false, they just didn't want my business. I will never go back. They may have good prices and be open late but you get what you pay for so I cannot recommend this place
Good prices. Treat your animals with care. Kind personalities. Kind people.
Terrible. Young female vet there is a truly terrible, despicable person. Told my wife they'd have to behead her cat and test it for rabies. In-door cat in New West. Likely had a brain tumor. That's beside the point. We have a very sick, distraught, aggressive pet whom we were trying to make the best decision for, can't even say goodbye to properly and she has zero compassion or seemingly any understanding of the pain she was causing. Seemed to hardly be paying attention. Didn't give a damn. When we called to ask if we could come and get his carrier and blanket, he had to be put down, they told us they'd been thrown out. Who the hell throws out a carrier and blanket!? Their excuse was we hadn't come back to get them. It had been two days. No contact. Didn't call to ask. Nothing. We lived a block away. I went in and yelled at her, I couldn't believe what I was being told. Her response: who am I, a mere peasant (she had no idea who I was or what I may or may not be) to yell at her, an exalted vet. Awful person. Some of the staff there, we had been previously to neuter our other animal, are decent people. That one vet, young south-Asian woman, is a sociopath. She should not be allowed around animals or other people, there's something very wrong with her. This happened a year ago. I'm writing this now that we've moved. Use to see her at the grocery store. Was all I could do not yell at her again. Do not take your loved one to this place. Ours deserved better and so does yours. - For Chance Edit: it's been two years now and this still bothers me and probably will for the rest of my life. Enough that I'm here updating this review hoping it keeps people and their pets from having a similar experience.
Very nice staff
Best bet in town and cheapest x-rays I've seen.
They have always treated my animals well and is also much more affordable than the competition. Rooms could use a lot more of a clean, I can always see animal hair and or paw marks in the rooms but I accept this as part of the cost cutting?
Great staff and doctors. Vets can be hit or miss, but these guys are good!
They are not thorough with their exams/services whatsoever! They never even bothered to call when tests results were in nor did a vet call me back to go over them as I requested through the receptionist. We ended up going to 2 different vets after seeing Columbia Square as things still weren't adding up and both vets pointed out things, that as they put it, should be easily identifiable from a basic exam. Additionally Columbia Square prescribed my dog steroid eye drops without conducting a dye test for what ended up being a corneal ulcer. This ended up making his symptoms worse and we were later told that any vet with common sense should never prescribe these drops without conducting a test first. After bringing this to their attention and upon request, they apologized and reimbursed us for all veterinary costs we incurred but unfortunately it was already too little too late by that point.
This vet is amazing! They truly care about the animals and provide the best service. Prices are also reasonable and it never feels like they are just adding unnecessary services to your bill. I would definitely recommend this place after experiencing two different vets previous to this.
Very affordable, they know what they're talking about. Very caring!
I know there are some negative reviews about this clinic but our experiences here have been nothing but positive. This isn't our regular vet but since it's so difficult to ever get appointment times at ours we have to use Columbia Square sometimes. The three times we've been here they have been quick to help, available in the evenings, and very gentle/kind with our +80lbs dog. They have reasonable rates and don't sell you medication that you don't need. We've never been shamed for not feeding our dog "vet recommended brands of kibble" and when we follow up on lab results or have questions about treatment, we are always able to speak with the vet on the phone (free of charge).
The clinic is fantastic. Drs and staff are both kind and thoughtful. I recommend Columbia Square Animal I Hospital for basic and extensive care.
The vet and nurses are very patient and nice. I can tell they really love animals. To all let owners: this animal hospital is amazing.
Very friendly and well explaining. They are asking reasonable price. And they made a quick operation schedule for our pet thankfully while we were asked triple price for all including unnecessary process at somewhere else....So satisfied with them!
Friendly and helpful staff
What an awful experience! I brought my cat in for a simple check up and prescription renewal. (This cat is diabetic and has been receiving insulin injections for over 5 years). The vet told me that without her old prescription from a previous vet he couldn't give the prescription without $250 worth or paperwork! I know this is untrue as I have received this prescription many times from different vets. Besides that, I had brought a copy of her prescription with me! He said they needed it faxed from the vet directly. Then they refused to contact my previous vet, and left my cat without her vital medication. As a healthcare worker myself, I know the cues of a ripoff and this vet was trying to coerce me into buying $250+ of procedures that were completely unnecessary.
The veterinarians are very professional. Always took my pup in any time they were opened.
In the past six months I have seen Dr. Brar & Dr. Puneet for my two cats, and I have had a great experience. They were all thorough, listened to my concerns and the symptoms I was spotting, and were very thorough in explaining why they were recommending certain tests or treatments. I felt very comfortable that my cats were getting the very best care. Their Vet assistants Abby & Jasmine are also kind and helpful, and the location has ample parking so overall it's a very pleasant visit (for me...my cats still don't like going to the vet).
We’ve been coming to them for a decade. They truly care about your pet and charge fairly for their services. Highly recommended
The people at Columbia Square Animal Hospital are always friendly and helpful. My dog had many health moments in his early ages and they are good at calming first time dog parents. They have called to follow up on my dogs symptoms and always do their best to squeeze us in for any last minute appointments. Typical vet prices.
Dr. Brar and his team have been providing wonderful treatment and care for our two cats (one of which has late-stage kidney disease) for over 4 years now. Services and treatments are reasonably priced, and it's super convenient that they are open so late. Highly recommended!
This is the vet I found after looking at a lot of reviews. The hours of operation are great, I am always able to come here after work. The vets are father and son and both excellent, they are knowledgeable and professional, they go the extra mile to help your pet and you. Their prices are fair on top of it. This vet is so good it is worth it to me to commute from farther away.
I give them 4 stars due to their lack of making sure I understand how to care for my pet after a surgery. They basically handed me a piece of paper, my pet, a cone and that was that. After spending the money I had, I would expect the vet to do a quick "how to" before I go home with my pet. I didn't even see the vet and maybe I should have asked to see him but I'm new to all this and thought there would have been more information on the papers. The vet, from my experience, was knowledgeable and kind. Their prices are on par compared to other vets I called, they're nice and close to home and they're open until 10 - 6 days a week. I'll update my review with visits so heres to hoping I don't have another one. Update: The vet did call me in the evening to make sure everything was ok, explain why he wasn't able to see me at the time and discuss my pet over the phone. I respect that and have given them a 5 star rating.
A veterinary hospital that actually cares for your pet, that takes the time to consult and doesn't try to sell something you really do not need. And there visits are economical.
One of the better vet around town, Dr Brar always very attentive, and the fee are much more reasonable compared to most vets~
They offered me (I didn't request it), 25% off on a dog food bag because it had a small puncture. When I went to pay the receptionist insisted it was only 10% off. I explained I was told 25% and when she went to check they insisted it was 10%. I have bought a lot of dog food here as I have two large dogs but I will never go there again on principal. When you quote a discount or price you should stand by it. If you've made a mistake then come out personally and explain it. Mistakes I can understand. Now they've lost a customer and will be hard pressed I suspect to find someone to buy a giant size bag of specialty gastro food. Really disappointing practices and an unfortunate incident as it was very convenient to buy food there.
Friendly on the outside but if you need anything serious GO ELSEWHERE!!! Seems cheap but not worth it in the long run. Find a proper vet, not one that will sell you breath freshiner for your DYING PET. Then not even a follow-up call when the emergency clinc calls for records? What does it take to get this vet to give a damn???? PLEASE do research and pick a better clinic.
Very helpful desk staff and good vets who take time to explain your pets issues. $20 for a basic check up seemed reasonable to me.
Dr kam very caring vet. My dog like most don't like visits to vets. But with dr kam he's surprisingly very calm
Staff are very friendly, and knew exactly what i was looking for when i asked for specific dog food. Pricing is a little steep, but it is what it is.
I love coming to this animal hospital whenever I have an issue with my cats;; the staff is always very helpful and friendly whenever I've come down or called in. The vets always take great care of my animals and that's all anyone could ever ask for!
I don't know how to thank the people that work here enough. I had my sweet cat for 20 years and having to make the decision that it was time to end her suffering was one of the hardest things I've had to do in my life. On my cat Amber's last day they let me hold her and pet her for as long as I needed to say goodbye, as well as hold her during the time of euthanasia procedure and afterwards until I was ready to let go. The kindness I was shown during this difficult time was beyond normal veterinary work, I never once thought anyone was just doing their job to get paid, every single person I came in contact with was so compassionate towards myself and more importantly my little old lady. Although I wish my cat was still here, and that I'd never had to meet the team at Columbia Veterinary, I couldn't have asked for better people to help her through her final moments. I am immensely grateful for everything.
Brought a kitten to this place for a check-up. The doctor said there is no flea and the kitten is healthy. Brought the kitten back home for 2 days, gave him a bath and discovered he has a lot of fleas. Confronted the doctor, he didn't even take responsibility for his carelessness, rather implying that was our fault that in those 2 days the kitten got infected with flea because of me. Our first cat didn't even have flea and our place was free of flea. Unprofessional, irresponsible, and a big ego. I would rate 0 if I can.
Very caring staff. Great service , felt very safe with the distancing being used.
They all nicely treated my pets with love. Highly recommend!
Everyone there is great. Caring and took the time to educate us on the best care for our cats condition at the time. Plus, Morton is adorable.
I want to start off by saying different Vet places have different business models and as a newish pet owner, in retrospect, Columbia did not fit our needs. We brought our kitten here for 5 appointments throughout the last 4 months as new kitten. Each appointment was very transactional, our kitten had a heart murmur so its hard for a clinic to deal with his issues due to lack of specialists and they did refer us to a boundary bay albeit for a fee so I wont speak on this further. - Every appointment we came to was very transactional, we dropped off our cat and they did their thing. For example vaccines were done and it was up to us to ask questions about how to deal with aftercare, potential side effects, what's normal behavior afterwards and what's not. - As new owners, they did not provide much information about the care of our kitten in the initial phase of vet schedules, what was to be done, which each line item was. Every time it was up to us to put a list of questions together to ask what to look out for. - Our Vet did answer all our questions but they were not thorough, it was very top level or they deferred us to go to a specialist, eat whatever food and use whatever litter. - Over 5 appointments they still did not have our contact information correct on file. Both my Gf's and my number were incorrect and even their referral to our specialist who tried to contact us for a week without success. I had to follow up on 3 occasions and call the specialist directly to ensure our contact info was correct and our appointments were booked but delayed by weeks. - On one occasion they one of the assistants related that our cat may need to be partially sedated but our vet clearly stated on file this was a big nono due to his heart condition. - Our cat collapsed due to heart failure last month and I called them as an emergency and the person we spoke with could not tell us what to do. We ended up rushing to an emergency hospital which you would think a place like this would have a procedure for walking people through something like this. To contrast, We adopted two new kittens to keep our last kittens spirit alive and our new vet: 1. Took stool samples on the first appointment to check for general health of the cats 2. One of them had an upper respiratory infection due to Herpes and walked us through detailed how it would affect his life, how we should take care of it, how it could affect our other cat, how we can treat it. Printed out a 10 page booklet with many details. 3. Trials for pet insurance and what to consider. 4. Did exams for dirty ears and checked under microscope for mites and gave us medication to keep their ears clean(for free) 5. Gave us a most of the exams for free or did not charge for our second cat and stayed open late to make sure they did a thorough job. 6. Followed up with us of our appointment schedule, checked in about the health of our cats. 7. Gave us a very comprehensive kitten package I think for most pet owners with healthy animals and whom are looking for cheap basic vet appointments will have their needs met here. If you're looking for somewhere comprehensive, more resources, extra care, something more holistic for your family member; I would consider looking elsewhere.
Very disappointed with the service. Will not go back again.
Ever since I moved here in 2015 I've been going to this vet. They give great advice, are very patient with my questions (and I ask a lot of them for my senior furbies!), and are always friendly and professional. Their prices are super reasonable especially for the exceptional service they give. I cannot say enough good about both Dr brar senior and Jr. I live all the way over in kitsilano right now and I still take my animals there for regular checkup stuff. Highly recommend these guys. Also - Morton is an awesome greeter!
Great staff! They really helped out my little guy when he needed it.
MALPRACTICE BY DR. BRAR!! ???? My cat was brought in the other day for a round of antibiotics but left with a vaccine and worm preventative. The vet was NOT told to vaccinate my cat. I told the receptionist that that my cat was there SPECIFICALLY for antibiotics BEFORE he could get his vaccine. I also provided the invoice from the vet we got our kitten's antibiotics at so the vet could SEE what needed to be done. I wrote on the paper what was going on and it even had the other vets # he could have called if he wasn't sure. When we called to complain he tried to pass all the blame off to my sister who brought my cat to the vet for me. He tried to say she said he wasn't coughing/sneezing at all and said she approved the worm treatment. First of all my sister TOLD him she didn't see him coughing or sneezing THAT DAY! She also told him that Eustace wasn't her cat and to look at the paperwork I PERSONALLY provided. Secondly, even IF she said yes to the worm treatment it was AFTER being told he wasn't her cat. THEREFORE my cat was provided a shot WITHOUT MY CONSENT!!! After all of this they eventually offer me a refund and of course I took it because I KNOW I won't get an apology. I cannot believe it's easier to give a refund than to apologize for what is 100% MALPRACTICE!!! Could you imagine if you brought your child to the Dr and they were given the wrong medication AND were given injections without your consent?! You'd be FURIOUS! That's how I'm feeling right now!
They take good care of my dog
I have been going here for a few years now. I used to live close by but have since moved to White Rock and we still go here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and they go a good job. The best part is they are good, and have amazing prices. They do not over charge our charge huge markups on prescription meds. My dog and my Fathers dog both came down with the same illness recently, I took my dog here and the total cost with 3 types of medication was $106, my father got the same medication from another place in Port Coquitlam and it cost $410. They also saved my cats life, she got into a Lilly plant and ate a bunch of the pollen. Luckily we were able to catch it right away and brought her here. she stayed over night for 2 days and she was fine. Im sure my dad will be coming here from now on, and I will always recommend this place.
My experience with this animal hospital has been flawless. They've accommodated me last minute on more than one occasion, were able to pinpoint illnesses clearly while my previous vet wasn't able to, staff and doctor are friendly and knowledgeable, and their hours of operation are extended compared to other clinics. I love bringing my pets here, because I know they'll be well taken care of.
I come here very often for my two dogs and two cats. As you can imagine 4 pets is a handful. But the quality of customer care and attention is starting to decline. Not keeping records of when I last purchased flea pills and which pet gets what pill for easy reference on my next visit. Or confusing which animal is which Confusing a cat for a dog and vice versa generally just making the whole client side relationship a little tedious when just trying to grab something simple and does not need a vets attention either. But other then that. Great service! Friendly staff affordable prices and next to a bosleys. So four stars... For now ... Update: They literally could not care less if my cat dies today. Couldn't even suggest an emergency hospital. Very unprofessional and rude ! Stay away !
Amazing prices and hours, and they really care. Sometimes a bit rushed and you have to be an advocate for your pet to get the information you need, but that's because they are very buys.
I selected this vet because I just moved back to the lower mainland recently and they are conveniently located nearby, and the reviews for the majority seem good. I took my giant breed dog to them because it seemed like the relocation was really hard on him, he wasn't eating much and appeared to have lost a lot of weight. I will say on first impression I was pleased with Dr. Kam (younger male veterinarian), he took his time to alleviate some initial concerns I had and showed considerable compassion, literally offering my pup a can of high energy/high calorie food in the exam room which he recommended would help with weight gain and suggested I revisit in a month for a follow up. On my follow up, I saw the older vet which I believe is the father, and was incredibly unimpressed. He didn't do so much as lay a hand on my dog to do a physical, check his temp or even a oral or ear exam (basic physical which would be reasonable to expect on a vet visit). He stood on the other side of the counter , almost afraid to come near my dog despite no signs of aggression or any indications of nervousness from my dog. Claimed my dog was too small compared to others he's seen and that my dog likely had a poorly functioning liver. A peculiar deduction IMO. Since then I have requested to only have Dr. Kam and I've been very pleased with any and all treatments and visits. I find the front staff pleasant and accommodating and at one point I called the vet office 5min before closing one night and the person that answered the phone was still willing to provide advice and address concerns without any limitations, even putting me on hold to obtain advice from the vet. I was very pleased and think that is GREAT customer service.
I can’t say enough about the team at Columbia Square Animal Hospital. Whether it be regular check-ups or emergency visits, they have always responded with personal compassion, timely responsiveness, and excellent medical care to my basset hound Chelsea, making the process of “going to the vet” as pleasant as possible. They are up front about their pricing and I have always found it to be reasonable. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful advocates when it comes to deciding the most appropriate treatments for Chelsea. Chelsea bear always appreciates the warm welcomes and belly rubs she gets there. We would recommend the professionals at Columbia Square Animal Hospital to anyone!
Amazing ..kind doctors!!
5 stars rating is not enough That's how happy we were dealing with this place The staff are friendly The best thing here is the price, compare to others, it's a great deal here
Their rates are comparable with the animal hospital I was taking my dogs to previously, but their vets are more personable. But aside from that, their staff and vets reacted calmly and quickly when I ran into their full waiting room with my dying dog. She was too sick to be saved, but they did what they could and were very kind.
Doctor is rude and doesn't show any care towards the animal.
I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am to have found these amazing people, or how appreciative I am of how devoted they are to their patients! You will realize the difference from other vets when you meet them .The owners of the practice Dr. Brar’s have both treated two of my kitties, always feel very reassured by both their calm demeanour and their extensive veterinary backgrounds. Thanks to my neighbour Nancy for recommending them!
Amazing as always. Life long pet owner And Dr.Brar is an amazing vet. Best thing that ever happened to my cats was finding Columbia Square Animal Hospital. Other vets used previously don’t come close to the level of care and attention to detail. Thanks again for the amazing care provided.
Best animal hospital. Honest and affordable I would not bring my pets anywhere else. Most can afford vet visits but this place makes sure everyone can afford to properly care for their pets.
I was completely non-plussed after my visit here. I had recently adopted an animal and chose this vet as my SPCA provided visit. He said the dog was in good health and that there was nothing wrong, even though we'd pointed out that he'd experienced two falls on his right hind leg and when he got up he would favour it and limp for quite some time. He dismissed it and said the dog was fine, ignoring the worn skin from where the dog had been licking his knee. After hiring a professional dog trainer, she immediately noticed that there was something wrong with this dog's right rear knee.We immediately sought out a second opinion. I went to another vet and discovered that it was in fact soft tissue damage, had a series of x-rays and examinations done, all at my great ($800+) expense. According to the other vet, it was a pre-existing condition. If you love your pet, I would seriously make sure that they either listen to you (as we were clearly ignored) or take your beloved animal elsewhere.
Our dog had had a hard time breathing after a walk and we rushed him to the nearest vet to have a check up. We went to Columbia Square animal hospital without an appointment but the staff here was extremly friendly, caring and promptly checking on our baby dog. Also giving us valuable advice but did not charge us for any fee. Thanks so so much for your genuine care for our dog. I appreciated it!
Great vets
Best bet ever
Great people. They treat the animals like they're their own
Nice people good prices
I appreciate the respect towards animals and genuine care. Incredibly happy I switched vets. I had a concern about my dog and called to book an appointment. Most of the time i easily get the appointment but While the clinic was booking well into late September / early October, one of the doctors on the phone was deeply knowledgeable and advised me to check around to get my pup seen sooner. She was perfectly professional, compassionate, and genuinely concerned about my dog's well-being. The staff is super friendly and makes your pet feel very loved. Fair prices and amazing people.????
Fantastic dr kam is the best
Dr. Brar took such good care of us! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great vet. Professional, caring and honest . He took the time to get to know us and I could tell he genuinely cared about my dog's health. Very affordable compared to other vets.
Very nice people to deal with great with our dogs.
Dr. Kam Brar is the best!
All of the staff at Columbia Square are fantastic. They are very calm and never cause you to over-react, unlike several other vets we have been to. They do not start with drastic, expensive measures and always try the least invasive, moderate approach before conducting additional tests. This is the best experience we have had with a veterinarian and we continue to drive out here from downtown Vancouver to make sure our dog has appropriate care. After being kept at their office for several hours with an IV, our dog still ran back to say hi to the staff after we came to pick her up! She is comfortable here, which has never been the case at other vets. I can't say enough about the reasonable prices, good nature, and high quality of care that Columbia Square provides! Highly recommended.
Cheap prices
Been taking our 2 dogs here for the last 3 years. Good service, family run.
Decades of personalized excellent care for my 2 cats.I’D never go any where else. Caring ,gentle, empathetic and knowledgeable veterinarians .
The staff are nice and their work is great .
Cost for food is affordable then other places
Staff was polite, but turned away with a sick dog i was babysitting had owners info and because dont take credit cards over the phone even when I gave three pieces in person and I live up the street for the past 40 yrs. Shows where their priorities are. Too bad.
Dr Kam and and everyone were extremely helpful and courteous and professional . They took a beautiful care of my two bangles .
Reasonable pricing and caring staff, they do not dig in your pocket for unnecessary fees or treatments.
The whole appointment flowed very smoothly. As a new patient everything was explained well and the hygienist was wonderful.
The Receptionists are extremely rude, would not let me explain what the issues were. I brought my dog in because his face randomly started swelling. And they said if it got worse to come back so the next morning it didn't completely go away I called back and not only did she start yelling at me on the phone she hung up on my twice. Don't go here they'll over charge you for nothing.
My experience was terrible. I called in the morning explaining how my cat is urinating all over my house due to crystals and a urinary tract infection they diagnosed prior to this. I receive a phone call late in the day telling me the doctor is away on sick leave now and there fully booked for 3 weeks and to take my sick cat elsewhere.
We had such a good experience with this vet. They squeezed us in last minute when we noticed some concerning symptoms with our kitten. We have had bad experiences with vets in the past but were so impressed with Dr Puneet. She took a lot of time with us. She really listened and wanted to hear our observations about the cat's symptoms. She cared that we understood the treatment she was suggesting. She didn't push unnecessary tests or medications. Just all around very good vibes and a good experience. We are happy to have met her and will be asking for her specifically when our cat Juniper needs treatments again.
This is a wonderful Vet. I was able to get a same day appointment for my cat. They took care of the problem, explained what had happened, provided medication, and patiently explained what exactly I needed to do. They helped me feel better about the situation, and showed that they genuinely care about the animals that come to them.
Best place ever
Father and son vet practice, Drs. Avtar and Kam, respectively. My dog blew out her one knee, then the other all within 6 weeks - so alot of vet visits. They call in a small animal surgeon, but all the care and ancillary services provided by the Brars and their team were excellent. Very gentle and knowledgeable and great hours. Open 8 to 10, but they will stay open later if necessary. Highly recommended.
I like the convenient location and the vets are good. My appointments have always been right on time, too.
I took my cat here for the spay surgery around two weeks ago. They said it may take 12 days to recover, but my cat felt totally fine after 2 days of the surgery. Apparently the vet is really good. Also they have really strict safety plans for COVID-19, which is very professional as well.
I own three French bulldog puppies and I been with this vet for last 2.5 months. Found it on google, pretty close to where I live and awesome prices. But you pay less for reasons, my puppies got diarrhea and puking often went to get treatment and medicine from this vet also got blood tested for 125$ But was still not cute. Doc Kam one doctor in here is not bad base on my instant feeling he has a heart towards animal and the oldest doctor I guess he’s the owner is a nice guy but limited knowledge. The other two younger veterinarian has no knowledge nor are they experienced that’s the young guy with turban and young lady with glasses. I got three of my puppies in today one has developed lumps on neck and all three with allergy breathing problem wanted doc Kam and the young turban doc came in I wasn’t pleased, my puppies weren’t feeling well and hard to bring three puppies alone. I just walked away and they don’t even care, that’s very sad bc as doctors and nurse you must love every animal and be attentive with love. If any of you still wanna visit here go for doc Kam only.
The doctor here was amazing! My cat had crystals in his urine and the doctor diagnosed Loki early enough to flush his system before kidney stones formed. I have been to many veterinary clinics in my life but none of them led me to actually write a review. I highly recommend this clinic!
My dog had a surgery to remove a non benign (luckily) lump from his left arm back in October. The procedure went smoothly and without complications and the recovery was great. They discussed all the details and breakdown of the prices before hand so I fully understood what I would be paying for. Thank you!
I highly recommend this place. The vets genuinely care about the animals.
I’ve called this vet office twice now and the receptionist woman took down my phone number to call me back later. I received no call from her the entire day, twice now. It seems like this is a common complaint from other reviews as well. A terrible first impression and I’ll be looking for a different vet.
If you are not their client, they are unlikely to want to help you
I've seen both Dr. Brar Sr and Dr. Brar Jr, as well as a few of their locum veterinarians over the years, and they have been great with my cats! My cats have needed some dental care as well as surgery over the years and there has never been a complication or negative outcome. I found their prices are very reasonable and they are very reliable in terms of following up. They will call even if my cats' lab results are normal, so I don't have to wonder. As a human doctor, this is almost unheard of in my field! I have moved 2 hours out of town now but would still see this group of veterinarians for any care that does not require immediate attention.
The vets were very kind and I never have a hard time getting an appointment. I can also get medication here for half the price of my old vet in Langley
Very kind, compassionate and friendly. They truly care about animals.
Been taking my dog here for years. Prices are good, vet is sincere but there new receptionist are horrible. They don't know how to act around animals and are extremely rude, one girl mentioned to me that's she's never owned a pet or worked with them... if that's the case, working in a vet doesn't seem viable
Do not go here. OUR DOG IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS CLINIC AND IT'S AWFUL MULTIPLE MISDIAGNOSES!! And they LOVED pushing us for ultrasounds when we already did it elsewhere and gave the report. They have been telling us for years our little dog has a liver shunt and needed a special diet. So for many years we bought their high priced special vegetarian food. She ended up refusing eventually and we had to make her food. They said she couldn't have anesthesia due to her liver shunt, so she never got her teeth properly cleaned and spent years with recurrent dental infections. They gave her medication that caused significant weight gain. Well...GUESS WHAT! After she had a severe breathing issue and the person on the phone was rude and said to just go elsewhere, we did. And we got a BIG surprise....She doesn't have a liver shunt and NEVER needed their expensive vegetarian food. In fact, the incorrect diet caused major long term health complications. She also never got badly needed dental cleanings because why? THEIR INCOMPETENCY! She would have been fine having anesthesia for her teeth. They didn't check her for a collapsed trachea when we told them she was coughing a lot, over-panting and breathing weird. They said she would be fine. Well....when we got this new vet...he revealed her collapsed trachea, which needed surgery. But her health was so far gone from this Dr. Brar's MASSIVE mistakes, that we had to put her down because she wouldn't have pulled through the surgery.
Dr Brar is a gem. Took my cat in with little notice and got a quick diagnosis. Very professional and polite.
I have been bringing my fur-babies to this clinic for the past few months. Just wanted to commend the doctors and staff for coming up with and implementing social distancing protocols with the safety of our community at their best interest... feel safe and cared for as always (bean and quito could say the same), even during this pandemic. Thanking you for your professionalism and compassion
We love this place! Staff and service is great! We always feel confident bringing our puppy here whenever we need help/care! Thank you!
They forgot to give me my cat back after I paid for the procedure
There really good . Helpful and friendly staff.
Dr. Brar’s are incredible! Our 14 year old cat suddenly lost weight and dropped to 5.5 lbs a year ago. We began calling local Veterinarians to get ideas of quotes of what we could do as far as x-rays, lab tests, etc... One Vet said based on her weight loss that we should just expect our cat to pass away in a month which we just couldn't accept. Her behavior at this point had completely changed and she was constantly hiding in corners and was refusing to eat no matter what we tried to feed her. With Dr. Brar’s amazing bedside manner, patience, immense knowledge and above all, compassion, they where able to make all the right recommendations and medical care plan for our sweet fur baby. They where able to identify her hyperthyroidism, underlying kidney disease and high blood pressure. 1 year later, Kitty's weight is back up to 9.3lbs and her behavior has switched back to her normal cuddly nature. We could not be more thankful for the Doctor's patience through ALLLL of our questions and their willingness to explain what we where doing and how we can maintain the quality of our Kitty's life. They are the best!
Dr. Brar is amazing. He is very honest and responsive. He takes his time with my dogs and puts in great effort to build rapport with both of them. He provides numerous treatment options and is affordable. I struggled to find a vet that addressed all the issues at hand without a bill that was an arm and leg. He genuinely cares for both my dogs and is always accurate in his diagnosis process, resulting in better outcomes for my dogs with less headache of trial and error. Highly recommend!
Great staff and has its own cat that roams around to greet guests
By far the best veterinary clinic out there. Both doctors are extremely gentle and caring. I have been taking my cats here for over five years and have only had positive experiences. I have never been concerned for their well-being when left overnight at the clinic. Pricing is fair and thoroughly explained. Would recommend making this your choice clinic in a heartbeat.
The star numeration doesn't reflect the majority of times that I have dealt with this clinic. Usually, a 4.5 or 5. However, today was a bad experience with the woman vet. The vet was supposed to call me at 6. I got a phone call at 6:30. Not a big problem but the blunting of emotion from this woman towards the care of my cat was not acceptable. She doesn't even smile and shows one bit of kindness. Why is she a vet?? I don't want to deal with her again. Her male counterparts are good; engage well with both pet and companion/owner, knowledgeable, caring and very intuitive. I feel like I have been thrown to the side of the road and that my cat and I
Great relatability, Dr. Brar made us feel really safe and well looked after. Our 16 year old cat lives another day!
Love their staffs, they are really kind and they care about your pets. Luckily I found them! Service is good.
WORST Service ever! I've been taking my dogs there for 6 years & called with an emergency & was told "call someone else - we can't fit any appointments in" a friend of mine called after with a non-emergency type call & was told to bring the pet in that night.
Kind and caring and reasonable prices as far as vets go.
We adopted a greyhound a couple weeks ago and brought him here for a check up. Everyone was so sweet and kind to him, he was a little nervous and they really made him feel more relaxed. Dr Chahal is wonderful with greyhounds, answered all of our questions and helped us come up with a treatment plan for our dog. The facility is clean and welcoming. We can rest assured that they have our dog's best interests at heart.
Always excellent service. Good with the animals.
5star
I hear aso many good reviews but I cant believe it . They didnt even save my dogs File and they said its been lost. Unfortunately I give this a 1 star even tho they nice . Now I need to find a new vet
Professional and Friendly, however they performed additional and unnecessary treatment that I didn't consent for. Be wary if you take your critters here.
This VET is the absolute best there is,very caring, most reasonable charges, best of all very trustworthy. Highly recommended.
Great price, great service. No up-selling or unnecessary drama. Dr. Brar provides you the facts and his recommended course of action is reasonable and affordable. Been going to this vet for three years.
Great service , great doctors took my dog 2cats and my last 2 cats heres and nothing but good prices and caring doctors . Thank you milo is recovering great !!
Friendly and caring staff. I've had 3 generations, 4 babies in their care.
So Far this what we know from people: - They proscribed the wrong medicine to a cat that brought her close to death. Went to a different vet and was told that the cat was on the wrong medication and that medication prescribed should never be given to cats. - Extracted Teeth from a dog without x-rays and without owners permission - Was told to get lime vaccination according to there new vet this is not safe practice and can cause issues when getting blood work. - Dog came out Deaf do to drops which owner was told would be safe for dog. the community has to be aware that Columbia Square Animal hospital in New Westminster doesn't provide ethical and professional care for the animals. It's true that this place is available every day until 10pm and prices appear reasonable however there are too many SERIOUS complaints in the community about their gross incompetency, and poor service often resulting in serious negligence to animals trusted in their care. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association should be made aware if it. We will keep updating this if we hear of other owners having issues. Please get second opinion from aother vets before proceeding with anything that is recomended here. It seems there is negligence or lack of knowledge when taking care of animals. Signed, devastated pet owners
I took my dog to Columbia Square Animal Hospital when she was experiencing respiratory distress. Dr Brar was very compassionate, he took his time to explain what was happening, why it was happening and explained why certain medications were needed and how they worked. Dr Brar provided us with quality service.
terrible experience, wasted my time and money. get a second opinion!
The staff at Columbia Square go above and beyond. We take our three cats here and they are always given the absolute best care. With covid you cannot go inside with your animal, but thankfully after 6 years of stellar care I can fully trust my vet to take care of my kitties site unseen. Thank you for all you do for our fur-friends!
My dog had abdominal and Uterine infection but the doctor couldn't notice it and he didn't show us a place that can help us. He tried to fix the problem of losing hair with shampoo but she passed away few months ago. Sorry for being rude but I can never forgive this clinic because of this uneducated doctor.
just want to thank all of you for your help these last few weeks and especially Dr. Kam your compassion and patience with myself and Chloe gave me the extra time I needed to say goodbye to my sweet girl. You helped allow Chloe to pass peacefully and painlessly in my arms at home. I will always remember your kindness and I thank you from the bottom of heart.
(Translated) My cat always vomited before, and then went to this hospital for treatment. At that time, the young female veterinarian gave the cat a variety of examinations and spent 600-700CAD telling us that she didn’t know why she vomited, and then let us Do other more expensive checks... We decided to change to a doctor.. Then we changed to an older male doctor (I don’t remember the name) after he checked the cat and asked some questions. Then he told me he was hungry... Let me Give it a lot of food, just a few days of vomiting.. As expected, I won’t vomit after a few days..???? Then we appointed this old male doctor as the default doctor for my cat. Then in the summer of 2020, the cat has to shave because he is too fat, but my cat cannot go to the pet grooming salon because it is too fierce.. I have always shaved in this pet hospital before.. Then according to the woman The doctor said that every time she came to shave the cat's hair, and then I took my cat to see a doctor somehow and became a female doctor who had done various tests before. Last week I found that the cat’s ears were a little dirty, so I took it to the doctor. When I made the appointment, I said I would like an older male doctor. The front desk said yes while asking me to wait for a long time and then transferred me to the young one. There is a female doctor... inexplicable! Finally, an appointment was made at 1:00pm, but after I got there, the front desk told me that I had an appointment at 1:30pm and showed me the list of their appointments! (Isn't it illegal?) I'm really speechless! Finally changed to a pet hospital.. ☹️☹️
Good prices on vet care, not pushy but could be a bit more guiding in what the pen need/should have. Annoying people buying pet food when there is a Bosley's right next door.
Good staff and service.
Fantastic service!
Dr Kam is amazing! Never hesitate to bring our dog in!!
This is a great vet of your in new west! My sister and I were looking for a new animal hospital for our dog and we finally found it. We go here for random check ups for our dog and the staff are really nice. We mainly go there to help trim our dogs nails because it's hard when we try it ourselves. They even let us come in to help trim our nails so that we can learn as well.
Everyone who works here is absolutely great. Just went in today for some meds and they’re making sure everyone is practicing social distancing, they have signs everywhere and are being very cautious so they can hopefully remain open to keep helping animals. Thank you for all that you do!
It was very nice of them to take in my cat as he was vomiting this past 3days. I lose my husband last month and I’m not going to lose my cat as well as he is only I have left. They were very accommodating and helpful. They told me how much and what option I have. Staff were very nice. Thank you very much for your help. Highly recommended them.
Amazing vets, compassionate, they are so good with animals. My previous dog was so scared of vets but loved these ones! My new pup loves them too! Very reasonable prices as well
They have help with 3 litters of puppies (11 total).. Helped resuscitate newborn pups. Very friendly.. Trustworthy... Go beyond expectations ALWAYS! Thank you for EVERYTHING YOU DO.
Good vet....no appt.they looked at my dogs leg. Surgery the next day .Go back in 2wks remove stitches.Reasonable .After this i Will be taking all my pets there ..place is busy like heck...they open till 10 pm! Il impressed .
Always very friendly and easy going with quick service and fair prices considering its a vet. Also conveniently located amongst other valuable shops and services so a bunch of shopping can get done at the same time.
The veterinarian’s and staff are very professional and pleasant to deal with.
They all very professional and truly care. Their rates are very reasonable. Our pets were in trusted care which made us feel very comfortable .
It was the worse customer service and my dog was so full of anxiety when he went inside the Vet himself was totally unprofessional just a very bad experience for my dog and myself!!!!!
The most trusted Doctor Brar..he is kind ..gentle..compassion..and he is always giving best cared for all our 3 dogies..for almost 11 years now..To the staffs ..thank you all ..
Top notch service. I take all my pets there. Always friendly, caring, and they explain everything in detail from the procedure to after surgery care.
Dr Brar is very knowledgeable and compassionate!
Great local vet. The doctors are very good. My cat came in with a limp in her paw and doctor said to avoid extra unnecessary cost, give her some pain medication first, and if in a few days doesn't help, then do x-rays as expensive. And he was thoroughly and genuine concern about my cat. I didn't feel rush through appointment and I appreciated that
Best vets I have ever dealt with. They take the time to explain everything and give you options on what to do. All three of the vets and their support staff I have dealt with there are super friendly and comforting. They never over charge, very reasonable.
Pretty decent, knowledgeable, but not always the best bedside manner. Very reasonable prices though, so a good option if cost is a factor and the personal interaction/communication is less important.
They are great with my cats, obviously care very much for people's pets. I have dropped in with questions or concerns about my sick cat and the vet always takes the time to come and talk to me.
The staff were very friendly and the vets are extremely knowledgeable. Would recommend to others.
Usually always ask for Kam, good prices for cat related needs and great service. Usually can fit you in day of if you call in the morning
Professional vets here. Also not expensive price compare to other animal clinics.
Amazing they care about ur animal. Staff very friendly and they work extremely hard. Long hours.
My parents' dog is always taken care by the vet! And he has gone thru a very serious surgery which replaces his broken knee! the surgery went great and he is doing well now! They don't give you expensive and unnecessary check ups on your dog. The vet always put your interests first and would help you the best he could. My boyfriend's dog also goes to this vet, and eveything is great so far! the only thing is that it's too far for us, we live in Vancouver!
Always had been great coming here. Very catering to my crazy dog.
Always quick with a response. They treat our pup with lots of love.
All 3 of our cats comes here!
This is one of the best vets I've ever taken my animals to in my life. So caring, so genuine, and also very affordable compared to some other practices in my neighborhood. They've always taken great care of all my animals. Dr Kam is amazing.
Very helpful, caring staff. Thanks guys!
We've taken all four of our dogs here and they've taken great care of them every single visit. Dr. Brar and his son are both knowledgeable and friendly. The son even stayed overnight to look after our chihuahua when she had surgery. Never had a bad experience and our neighbours in the Quay know about Dr. Brar's love for animals. We recommended their practice to our family members and have been going here ever since.
The absolute best vets out there!!! 10/10 always
Been with columbia square animal hospital for more than 8 years now. They're always accommodating and the price is affordable. I always recommend them to family and friends. Thank you Dr.karm brar
Great vet clinic!
Not the most friendly desk staff but good vets.
We will have to say that there is a big difference between pet hospitals that actually care. We were very well looked after here and were pleasantly surprised to know the rates Were Far Below what we expected. Thank you for making this a pleasant experience for our family and our pets.
I love these vets and this clinic . They have cared for our pets for over 10 years and their love of animals is apparent . Gentle , considerate and value for money is a 10 out of 10. I trust them and am so grateful for them.
So happy I found this location yesterday. It was time to put our 17 year old cat out of her suffering. Our regular vet hospital is closed on Sunday's so I phoned around. Columbia moved some things around and accommodated my painful request, and helped me avoid additional procrastination. Sammy was treated with professionalism and compassion in her final 30 minutes. They partner with "Until we Meet Again" to deal with cremation. They allowed 3 of us to enter the room to say our final goodbyes, after the IV line was gently put into place. I could not stay in the room, but one of my sons stayed to the very end. I am typing this review through the tears, but every responsible pet owner knows this is somewhere in their future. Thank you to the staff at Columbia Square Animal Hospital. Rob Allen
There has the worst veterinarian I had ever seen! I won’t come here anymore.
I have been taking my cats here for years, even after I moved from New West. Great prices and caring staff. I appreciate that they take the time to explain the options, I have never been pressured into expensive procedures or treatments.
Awesome vets!! The staff are extremely nice people and my dog is very comfortable with our vet and our visits to their office have always been positive and extremely reasonably priced. Thank you Dr Kam and staff!
Absolutely an amazing clinic The drs. are compassionate and very knowledgeable and all of them have a wonderful sense of humor when appropriate They don't do anythi g that isn't needed they give you options and they are definitly reasonably priced I wouldn't go anywheře else And the most impressive thing is my cat loves everyone there
Very good experience. Thank you so much for saving my little cat’s life, Dr. K Brar! My cat has been at this animal hospital since birth for various vaccinations and medical examinations. Their doctors are very patient and professional. The price is the most reasonable among all the animal hospitals. Even if I moved to richmond, I would still drive 40 minutes to this animal hospital.
Kam and his father are incredibly humble people who are straight to the point. I've been to alot of vets on Vancouver Island and the mainland. These guys have seen all of my dogs (I've had 7 at one point!) and never BS me. Hands down the best vet I've ever been to! And I've been to 13-15 of them (farm and general vets)! . Just amazing and intelligent people. They have been my dog's vet for many years and will continue with them for many more.
Absolute best vet i have ever been too! Friendly and caring staff! Great prices!!!
Very great and honest and caring
These Vets are fantastic, reasonably priced, and very honest. I have been dealing with Dr. Brar since they opened their offices. Highly recommend.
Fantastic clinic! We recently switched vets to Columbia square and the vet was very considerate and explained Pocky's urinary issue very well. We will definitely continue to bring Pocky here and will be bringing any future pets as well! Prices were also very reasonable and reception staff were friendly and eager to help, despite the ongoing pandemic.
Helped my first cat when 3 other vets were unable to solve a recurrent urinary tract issue. The Dr's are kind, great with animals and i trust them fully. Cost wise, they are very reasonable.
My most most favorite place to bring the chiwawas to!
Very nice stuff. Efficient and easy on your wallet.
My dog had an overnight stay when he was a little puppy, to this day he still pulls to go inside, he loves them so much! Very caring and very competitive pricing.
They truly care and are very reasonable with prices.
I took my dog here several times throughout his life. They did a good job with some things such as nail trimming, neutering and basic checkups. However, when it came to him needing their help the most they completely failed. They requested that i do various different exams, saying they didn't know what it was. I got a random call from one of the Vets asking about how my dog was doing, and to watch out for anything because what he had could be fatal - first time i was told that it could be something serious. So then i take him to the Vet again and did an exam on his stomach. They showed me that there was something off in his stomach and that it could be cancer - or could not be. They gave me medication for him, and said i needed an ultrasound to be 100% sure. Moreover, the day that i book the ultrasound, my dog was very weird and i felt like he was dying. My mother called the Vet right away, only to be put on hold and then told that the Vet was busy, and that he would call us back when he could which would be in about a half and hour. As this was an emergency, we obviously didn't wait and went to an emergency hospital that helped us out. When we found out what he really had, we found out that the Vets were completely off with their diagnosis, and the Doctors there tried everything to make him feel better. However, it was at the point of no return, unfortunately, and i had to let him go as i did not want him to be in anymore pain.
I have been going to this hospital for over 8 years now and usually see Dr. Kam and Dr. Brar there. I have 2 dogs and they go above and beyond for them. I have recommended them to many others. I know they have the best interest for my pets and have consistently shown this over the years. Their passion and consideration really showed this past week when they stayed in after closing just to answer my questions, and also saw me in-person after closing as I was really worried about my dog. Thanks again !!
My cat (Ragdoll) is shy and afraid of other people. Staff was very friendly and my cat was comfortable getting checked up and her shots. Thank you for looking after Yuyu!
Such a great Vet, they truly love animals
