I brought my senior cat to mayfield who was sneezing, wheezing and having difficulty breathing. It was a general appointment and Dr. Hand saw my cat. I was definitely worried for my cat as I was suspecting cancer. Dr. Hand recommended some tests to see what was going on and I authorized them to do so. Upon completion of the tests Dr. Hand confirmed that there was a lot going on with my cat. From upper respiratory infection, thyroid, and congestion around the heart area. She also felt that these conditions were treatable and she put my cat on several medications. To my surprise in less than 2 weeks the sneezing had stopped. On the third week the wheezing and difficulty in breathing was gone. By a month I had a new cat! Increased appetite, increased activity and generally a much more healthy cat. Dr. Hands diagnosis was 100% correct. The action taken by Dr. Hand was 100% correct. I give her a 5 star + rating. I have had many vets in my day but Dr. hand has thoroughly impressed me. She is one of the best vets I’ve seen in my 25+ years of having pets. Hats off to Dr. Hand! Ross Faulkner

I have been using Mayfield Veterinary Clinic since I got my very first pet on my own, before that I knew Tammy because she was the vet of choice for my mom! Over the years I have had excellent service! Chumley, my cat has had life saving surgery, and is as healthy as he could be :) My little jack Russell, stepped on by my horse, Tammy saved her leg!!! Everyone there knows me and my pets by name, they are caring and loving to my animals. I know that when my animals are left for routine surgery, they are going to get the BEST care! I know that when I call, my horses will get excellent, timely care! I trust the staff with my furbabies lives and couldn't imagine having anyone else care for them. All of the staff, from the Vets to the people who work the front desk are so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to help with whatever problem your pet has when you go there. I trust them completely with the care of my cats and dog. I wouldn't take them anywhere else.

Tammy Matheison is a fantastic vet, as are her associates. I have taken my dog to her for the past 13 years and have taken other pets to her for years before that, even when she had her offices in Maine. The office is efficient and keeps good records. They have always been helpful and caring. The fees are high (like all vets and doctors), but she and the other vets have been willing to work with me and to avoid any unnecessary procedures and to treat sensibly as my pets age, and to focus on what they need to feel better.

I have been taking my dog here for several years. We recently acquired a couple of bunnies and they too have made a visit. The facility is very impressive for its size. There is a generous waiting/reception area, good size exam rooms, and, from what I can see, a well stocked back area for operations and procedures. The staff is overall very good. The vets and "nurses" in particular clearly care about their patients. They are clear with explaining their diagnosis and paths for treatment. They also speak with me as an equal and have been good with answering questions. My one reservation is that it is expensive. The exams, medicine, and procedure costs are, in my opinion, on the high end. I suppose you get what you pay for, but given the lack of other options it does feel a little unfair. Overall recommended but be prepared for the bill.

If anyone has to say goodbye to their very best animal friend under Mayfield care, I cannot be more positive about my experience of both their front-desk support and subsequent home visit under heart-rending circumstances. They were not only compassionate to my dog but also to me, and took the time to ensure his departure was absolutely peaceful. "Loved it" seems inappropriate under such circumstances, but if read as "be assured that their care of saying goodbye to your best animal friend could not be better", that was my five-star experience. Mayfield vet is always such a great resource for me when I am concerned about the well being of my animals. I have two dogs and a cat. One of my cats is asthmatic and Dr. Hand is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to treating my animals. She got my cat started on an inhaler right away and her asthma attacks have improved significantly. My dog has just become a new mom and I know if I ever have a question or concern, mayfield is just a phone call away. They were available for support prior to the birth of this litter as well as after. I am always calling or texting the clinic to ask if they can have things ready for me to pick up.. worming medication, preemie bottles, etc. The staff at mayfield are all absolutely wonderful, and our community is lucky to have the clinic as such a great resource!

Once again this past month I've had need of Mayfield's expertise for my 34 year old Morgan mare, Peggy, and 11 year old terrier, Pocket (star of the Clinic's YouTube video, "Pocketful of Hope." ) Both girls have had foot and leg issues. Docs Krista McAllister and Aoife Hand came to see Peggy two weeks ago for what seemed like increasing hoof pain. The meds prescribed seem to have helped considerably, and while Peg is an expert at resisting my efforts to lift and soak her hooves, she shows improvement over the past week, and I'm hopeful that this may resolve before winter. Pocket has had some rear leg weakness secondary to her Intervetebral Disc Disease. After being paralyzed 4 years ago, she recovered over a period of months, thanks to her very attentive treatment from what seemed to be the entire Mayfield staff. Dr. Aoife saw her last month, and said that arthritis is a common sequel in IVDD, especially in older dogs, and recommended a new arthritis drug that seems to be quite effective in combination with cold laser treatments from Vet Tech Cathy O'Neill - Pockie is once again chasing her ball around the farm! I rely on the knowledge, skills and common sense of the extraordinary Mayfield team, and feel very fortunate to have them in our community!

We have been taking our dogs to Mayfield since 1990. We have enjoyed excellent care and advice, patience, and compassion when needed. The vets are caring and knowledgeable, and great with our quirky pets! The vet techs are amazing - they can mellow even the most difficult animal… And they give us personal attention - everyone from the receptionist to a vet on an emergency call. They know us and they know our pets. I highly recommend Mayfield Vet Clinic.

I cannot say enough about the staff at this Clinic. From the office staff, to vet techs to the vets themselves. They are all amazing. We have been taking our dog Cody to the Mayfield clinic for almost 8 years. The visits started out with just routine things, like yearly vaccinations, flea and worm control, but quickly changed when our dog began having terrible digestive issues. For almost a year, we figured it was allergies and tried him on a few different foods. He was tested for Cushings, diabetes and many other diseases, all which were negative. Our dog quickly went from weighing 72lbs to 32lbs in less than a year. It was in October 2014, that with the persistence of a certain vet at the clinic that we were finally able to get a diagnosis, he had EPI(exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) which is easy to maintain with just some powder on his food daily, along with some B12 injections. As of last month he weighed in at 66lbs. It's amazing. Like I said earlier, I cannot say enough about he Mayfield Vet Clinic. If it were not for their persistence, our boy would not be with us today. I recommend taking any pet, for any reason to this Clinic. Such friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable staff. :-)
