I called in yesterday to see about the availability of some of the dogs as I intended on coming in today and taking them for a walk with the strong possibility of filling out adoption papers today, and was told that it would be no problem and that the dogs listed are available.
Come today, I arrive to likely the coldest person I've ever encountered who could hardly be bothered to look up and greet my brother and I. I told her I was here to look at the dogs and take them for a walk because I'm thinking of adopting, to which she informed me I must be a 'volunteer' to do that (I'm sorry was us volunteering our afternoon to drive 150km not good evidence?). I tried to explain the circumstance and that I came far out of my way for this hoping she could expedite the process to which I got the most unenthusiastic "If I get ahold of the right people maybe you'll get approved by the end of the day". She seemed so uninterested that I lost my patience with her, snapped, and left.
This shows me a clear lack of empathy, or care for getting these animals adopted. I was also considering fostering I cat but after this experience I'm unlikely to return. Either way everyone I know will be hearing about this and told to steer clear of this SPCA unless they're looking to get turned away by cruella at the front desk. This incident happened at approximately 12:30 this afternoon and I'm left very unhappy and disappointed about this as the dogs are very vocal about wanting out and with this service they'll be in there a while.
As an added note, while I was at the Oromocto SPCA they were more than happy to take my ID and trust me to walk a dog, and surprise we had a wonderful walk and I didn't steal the dog ????
