The greater moncton spca has got to be the worst shelter I've ever dealt with. Not only are their animals living in filthy conditions but they are eager to make money off anyone they can and at the same time love to seize animals from innocent owners over petty things and make profit off the animals. I'd barely call this a shelter and I'm ashamed of them being our cities animal rescue shelter.

I called in yesterday to see about the availability of some of the dogs as I intended on coming in today and taking them for a walk with the strong possibility of filling out adoption papers today, and was told that it would be no problem and that the dogs listed are available. Come today, I arrive to likely the coldest person I've ever encountered who could hardly be bothered to look up and greet my brother and I. I told her I was here to look at the dogs and take them for a walk because I'm thinking of adopting, to which she informed me I must be a 'volunteer' to do that (I'm sorry was us volunteering our afternoon to drive 150km not good evidence?). I tried to explain the circumstance and that I came far out of my way for this hoping she could expedite the process to which I got the most unenthusiastic "If I get ahold of the right people maybe you'll get approved by the end of the day". She seemed so uninterested that I lost my patience with her, snapped, and left. This shows me a clear lack of empathy, or care for getting these animals adopted. I was also considering fostering I cat but after this experience I'm unlikely to return. Either way everyone I know will be hearing about this and told to steer clear of this SPCA unless they're looking to get turned away by cruella at the front desk. This incident happened at approximately 12:30 this afternoon and I'm left very unhappy and disappointed about this as the dogs are very vocal about wanting out and with this service they'll be in there a while. As an added note, while I was at the Oromocto SPCA they were more than happy to take my ID and trust me to walk a dog, and surprise we had a wonderful walk and I didn't steal the dog ????

Great organization, though it's easier to adopt if you live very close and are able to drive in frequently. A lot of their animals seem to get adopted before they're even listed on the website, or anywhere, which can become very frustrating over time. Be pre-approved before you go for sure, though.

Cotton Wow where to begin. I, the wife and the kids went to see the animals at the spca. We fell in love with a small dog name Cotton. He was a malnourished and not treated right. We asked to adopt him but we were told he wasn`t ready yet. I asked if they would contact me when he would be available they said they can’t do that. They said we had to look on the internet to see when he would be available. We looked every day for over a week and then we saw him. We drove to Moncton to adopt him. We spent some time with him and asked to adopt him. They said yes! But we could not have him that day because he had surgery scheduled in 2 days. We had a name tag done for him and were excited to adopt him. The day of the surgery we called them to know how he was doing they said he was doing ok, but asked why we called. They had given Cotton to someone else. They had done a mistake. I know anyone can make a mistake but I would like a simple sorry. I tried to get answers and they didn`t returned my many calls. I will be removing my SPCA sticker on my car.

We went to the SPCA on Thursday to adopt our newest member of our gamily . Mango an orange kitty. The process was very easy. Gave me a bag of gifts. Free vet consultation coupon, food coupons, free bag of food,free 6 week insurance etc. The lady who was at the reception was very friendly. We love our new cat. He is so precious

I loved my experience at the Moncton SPCA! We adopted our new cat there, and she's wonderful. The staff were very helpful and patient, letting us meet different cats while we chose which one we wanted to join our family. They were also very sweet to our kids. The prices there are excellent, we got our 10-month-old cat for $99, which included spaying and a microchip.

We unfortunately had to bring our dog here because he nipped my son and we couldn't take a chance. They called the breader and they found him a home within a day. It was a sad place to leave a pet. I found the staff was not very helpful and certainly not compassionate. We also made a pretty big donation while we were there and we barely got a thank you. It should only be people that love animals who should work the desk. As she wasnt very warm towards our dog. You should have a friendly face sitting at your welcome counter because sometimes it's not because we want to bring our pets there but we have no choice. It was like the loss of a pet for my family. Need compassion to work in this field

This is a well run no kill animal shelter. We adopted a new cat today and we were impressed by the compassion of the staff, the cleanliness of the facilities and the large volunteer army that assist in day to day animal welfare.

Today is February 3rd, 2015. SPCA is a horrible service as they are not doing anything about it. Why? Someone left the dog in the car during freezing winter while someone is visiting the friends for more than 1 hour (Toyota Camry). The dog kept barking but gave up and settled down on the back of the leather seat (imagine the leather - really cold). The windows are all frost up. What did the SPCA do? Nothing they can do about it. That is called Animal Cruelty and SPCA should be ashamed because they are not concerning with the animal's welfare. Since the money that I donation for the charity went to SPCA. After I realized what they did, I have decided not to donation the money to SPCA anymore.

I went online and got preapproved and last night our family went to check out dogs and we came home with an amazing addition to our family. We adopted "Harley" after we met him and decided we were getting him it was 7:05pm they closed at 7. They definitely didn't have to stay extra to process his paperwork but once I explained our car was broke and we live out of town they volunteered to do his paperwork so we could take Harley home. He's absolutely perfect for our family and he's been smiling since we got him. Thanks to staff at Moncton SPCA.
