You will be able to see all the information of people who purchased the products of Selkirk Veterinary Hospital (Veterinarian) in the area of Nelson (Canada).
To this day the business has a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and this score is based on 91 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is nearly the highest, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the score is quite credible. If many people have bothered to rate when they are happy with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian is classified in the category of Animal hospital.
They treat our animals well.
The veterinarian's and all the staff at Selkirk Vet are amazing. They genuinely care for the health of your pet, unlike any other vet I have been to before. When my 10 week old puppy was not acting well, they got him in the same afternoon to be seen. Not only the staff, but the vet herself both called and emailed me to follow up over the next few weeks to ensure my puppy was feeling better. Even though I came in on an "Emergency Visit" the price was no more than a regular visit, and they are overall very affordable. I highly recommend Selkirk Veterinary clinic for all your pet's healthcare needs!
Always my choice of vets in nelson staff are welcoming and always in a good mood and very helpful.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I called as my pup was in dire situation and could not get him in anywhere so I was prepared to pay emergency fees to get him in. When I called I was not even allowed to explain what was wrong I was shut down immediately and told to take it elsewhere. I am devastated by how I was treated. Please don't go here for the sake of your fur babies they just don't care
Selkirk Veterinary Clinic unfortunately put profit before the well being of our pet, recommending completely unnecessary procedures and even going as far as doing tests and procedures to our pet without gaining our go ahead or permission or even our input despite being readily available putting our beloved pet through unnecessary stress and pain. They then slapped us with an astronomic bill for said procedures. Not only that but the vets at this clinic don't seem to be very knowledgable at all when it came to the disease in our pet and couldn't offer any meaningful advice or info. I would strongly recommend finding a vet elsewhere with a little more common sense, patience and compassion. My rating is zero stars but could only go as low as one.
Such caring knowledgeable staff. I really appreciate their follow up calls.
Excellent ????
Staff was slightly condescending, but friendly enough.
We LOVE Selkirk Veterinary Hospital. The veterinarians and staff are friendly, caring and compassionate, and I know we can always count on them to give our senior dog the absolute best care.
My dog loves the doctors!
Our pets are lemons, and these guys are great at fixing them up for us. Seriously though, the Veterinarians are as kind and genuine as they are knowledgeable. They're careful to explain any testing required, eager to talk you through their expertise on any diagnosis, and always provide us with an accurate estimate prior to treatment. They're as organized and prepared in an emergency scenario just as they are in a regularly scheduled appointment (we've done both!). Beyond that, they have always been extremely efficient in diagnosing and treating our pets which means that our pets are feeling better sooner. The front desk staff are efficient and kind, and always follow up via phone call to make sure our pets are feeling well after their visits. I wouldn't trust anyone else but them. Thanks Selkirk!
The staff here is amazing!
We recently moved to this area and the thought of finding a new veterinary clinic to care for our rapidly aging pets with their chronic health problems as well as our previous veterinary clinic did was a greater worry to us than finding a doctor and dentist for ourselves. We were met with a warm and friendly atmosphere when entering the clinic. We have experienced very caring and competent service from all, and also witnessed the same towards other pets and clients in the waiting room. A 6th bonus star for being a Fear Free practice.
I love everyone there. They are there to help animals not make money. They have worked with me and love my dogs. My older dog ,loves going to the vet. Highly recommended.
Doctors and all staff were friendly and very comforting in my pet emergency, they followed up on my pets care the day after as well. Great service and convenient location for locals in Nelson! Couldn't have asked for better service!
Get’m in get’m out. It’s a business. If your looking for that gentle touch with your pet look elsewhere.
The staff was very helpful and were willing to slip in a puppy with a gash on her eyebrow in at the very end of the day, 15 minutes before closing for the weekend.
We rely upon the knowledgeable caring and compassionate service we always experience when dealing with Selkirk Veterinary. Without hesitation always recommend!
Amazing people. They fit me in this morning without an appointment. My dog wasnt doing so well. Very very friendly staff and veterinarian.. so very pleased with Selkirk Veterinary Clinic. I came from Castlegar as I had heard nothing but great things about them. Very upfront with costs and procedures.. I would recommend this Vet Clinic to ALL who need a vets helping hand..THANK YOU Selkirk Veterinarian Clinic.
Great staff. Very friendly with pets and owners
Always friendly, professional, and caring and clean.
I am very greatfull that your clinic opened your doors to Shelby and then Sammich. Your staff's insite and dedication to their care is amazing and very very much appreciated. Going above and beyond standard care and leaving us with a feeling that you care about our furry family members as much as we do. Thank you to all the veterinarian's and all your dedicated staff <3
This vet visit was a well visit for my newly adopted dog. Everyone I dealt with was kind and gentle with my new dog, Lacey. They did a thorough examination and tried to shave some dreads off her back legs. When she got anxious they stopped. Lacey was treated with kindness and gentleness. She did protest about the rabies shot. This visit was courtesy of the SPCA, but after seeing how kind they were, I will take her back there. Thank for having a no fear approach.
Best Vets so caring, knowledgeable and professional
In an emergency, they won't help. Call someone else.
Helped my ???? out.
Great staff that fit us in while we were traveling through. Thanks for taking care of our sick pup!
Ah, sadly, I haven’t actually been in here to see the vet. However, this place was recommended to me but every time I talk to the receptionist has left a bad taste in my mouth. I went in once to purchase some flea medication and she was so rude. I chalked it up to maybe she was having a bad day. Fast forward to present days... I call to see about an appointment and again, lacking in customer service. I’ve called a few times over the last year and a half to inquire about different things and every time I hang up the phone feeling really displeased with the human interaction I just had. So, I’m going elsewhere.
Great service, friendly amazing staff, took great care of my dads dog, made time to get him in when he needed it the most. By far best vet been to around the kootenay area by far...
Amazing and caring people at selkirk vet's
Selkirk Veterinary Hospital is staffed with some very kind and awesome people! My two cats love Dr. Maybank :) 10/10 would recommend everyone in the area to take their pets there for excellent care and service.
Great hours and very talented staff !
I've been blessed to have the Doctors, Nurses, and the Support Staff at the Selkirk Veterinary Hospital care for my cat, Morris, for his health and wellness as he ages. The care included dental cleaning, dental surgery, diet changes, medication for a time, blood work, and more. All the staff there is compassionate, knowledgable, and professional. I felt as though all of us were being well looked after. I highly recommend this accredited veterinary hospital.
Friendly and caring staff.
Did my pups vaccination there today. Very professional, very genuine caring staff and extremely helpful doctor. My first time there and I already think of them as "my veterinarian". Great experience for both of us.
Friendly, professional and supportive staff! Every visit I'm reminded of why I chose Selkirk to help me keep my critters happy and healthy. Excellent environment, helpful staff and positive experiences will keep me coming back with all of my animals!
Did not help us with our dog. Wasn't impressed with this place. Money focused vet.
Everyone who works there is super helpful. We are trying to figure out what my dog is allergic to and they didn’t pressure me to buy their products or anything.
We were able to get in at fairly short notice, ie 5 hours, and had our 7 year old King Charles spaniel checked out. Our vet was very personable and was gentle but thorough with Mac.
All of the staff at Selkirk Veterinary Hospital are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and never hesitate to offer valuable advice. They take the stress off of me and my dog benefits too! Thank you Selkirk Vet!!
I had a great experience at Selkirk Veterinary Hospital. They create a very comfortable and calm atmosphere for the animals and humans alike. I will definitely use their services again in the future!
Best vet in the region . Would take my dogs anywhere else .
I’ve had 3 notable experiences at this clinic. As a pet owner, being at a Vet clinic is almost as stressful for me as it is for my critter (emotionally, financially, etc.) #1.) Approximately 7 years ago my cat Chloe had a recurrence of a major kidney issue. She wasn’t eating or drinking, everything she did eat or drink, she regurgitated in short order. Lost weight, barely able to stand, on deaths door. Having some experience with animal medical care I knew what I needed to do. I called around to every vet nearby. None were willing to help provide me with the tools I needed without first having an initial Vet exam (I only needed a lactate ringer, a few needles, a few syringes for sub-q injections and some Azodyl). I wasn’t able to afford the initial Vet visit as I had recently moved. So the clinic suggested that they contact Chloe’s previous Vet for her records. The other Vet clinics were blatantly unwilling to do even that much. Selkirk ended up providing everything I needed to save her life. They were *willing* to try to help when other Vet clinics didn’t seem to care and were completely unwilling to help. Chloe is still alive 7+ years later and is now 20 years old and healthy. If it weren’t for Selkirk, Chloe would be dead long before her time. #2.) August long weekend. My 23 year old blind, diabetic cat has a sudden neurologic incident (seizure, eyes rolling around in her head, pupils contracting independently of one another, vomiting, suddenly unable to walk, completely incontinent - she was normal one second and failing hard in the next). She was suffering, scared and confused. I knew it was time to euthanize. I called around, only two clinics were open. Both were booked solid. The friendly staff called me back and explained that if my pet was suffering to bring her in and they would fit her in regardless of their schedule. It was less than an hour from the time of her bodily failure to the time of her comfortable and humane euthanasia. Despite my grief, Selkirk made me as happy as I could be. Her suffering was ended as quickly as possible, outside of their schedule, on a long weekend. The other Vet told me to make an appointment for the following Wednesday (Tuesday was already booked) and they wouldn’t euthanize without a general exam first. Selkirk put the well-being of my pet, and her humane and timely end to suffering - before anything else. #3.) This is current at the time of this review. One of my cats started presenting with difficulty breathing & coughing. Largely unable to afford testing - the exceptional staff worked extra hard to exhaust every other viable alternative. After first bringing my ailing cat in, they followed up with me *twice* in one week. The issue isn’t resolved yet. But, it is worth noting that their commitment to, and compassion for animals (AND the people who own those animals) is truly astounding and laudable. I’ve never had a Vet call me twice in a week to check in on my cat. They put the welfare of the animal first, yet at the same time - are compassionate with the owner. Veterinary clinics are always going to cost you. But Selkirk isn’t one that will gouge you. The genuine care and service you experience at Selkirk is something of a lost art in the Veterinary field (IMHO).
The ladies at this clinic are kind, trustworthy, and truly passionate about their jobs. We had a great experience boarding our pup here for the day
We brought our very sick dog, Samantha, to the Selkirk Veterinary Clinic. She was vomiting and suffering from diarrhea. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and our meeting with Dr. Maybank was thorough, professional, and caring. Dr. Maybank clearly explained the reason for blood tests and ultrasound and gave us the choice as to whether we wished to proceed. The tests confirmed that our dear old dog was suffering from IBS. Medications were prescribed and diet changes were made. Thanks to the diligence of Dr. Maybank and staff, we once again have, a healthy, happy, dog. I highly recommend this clinic.
I have gone to this vet hospital for years, but recently they have misdiagnosed and overcharged on every occasion. It seems like they have a lot of turnaround. There is always a different vet on duty and a different assistant. They are also not good with animals. My dog is scared to even walk in the door. Despite all of their information about a "fear-free" experience for your pet. I can guarantee that that is not the case. I will be trying one of the other vet hospitals in the future.
They were nice to my cat.
They take everything you say into consideration and have extremely nice staff, highly recommended :)
Friendly & helpful staff!
Go to a place!
They were very good with my dog who can be difficult when he came in for his neuter. They were even better when we came back a few weeks later for a unexpected emergency surgery and stitches. Got us in right away and taken care of. Very caring and genuine. Dr. Maybank is awesome! Bear is happy to be all healed up and adventuring again.
My cat and dog have been well cared for here. The Drs and support staff are friendly kind and very knowledgeable. Every time we have been in we have been given excellent care including an up front estimate for treatments. After my little dog went in to have his teeth cleaned and a few teeth removed, we received a follow up call the next day to see how my little dog was doing. I really appreciated this call a lot.
They took very good care of my very sick dog and kept the cost reasonable for me.
Amazing staff!
Always good with our dogs especially in an Emergency situation. Also call and email to follow up. So kind and caring to the animal and family.
Took our cat there twice. Got charged twice for a physical that they couldn't do because they couldn't handle our cat. We had even given her gabapentin the 2nd time.Got charged $154 and really got no physical exam either time. Also got charged $239 for a blood test. Outrageous.
They took us in as an emergency and were very thurough, compassionate and caring. Going above and beyond with their services. We traveled 2+ hours to take our wonderful dog to somewhere that we trusted to do their best. Definitely recommend Selkirk Veterinary.
Aussum staff they take GREAT CARE OF MY LITTLEMAN
.We've owned cats for many years and as such are well experienced with may vets and have had many good experiences in other cities in B.C. This was definitely the WORST experience we've ever had with a vet. They are liars and in love with your money to the point where they will lie and artificially inflate your bill. Abysmal service AVOID for the sake of your fur baby!
My partner and I brought our brand new 8 week old puppy into Selkirk Vet. As she is our first puppy ever, we were a little nervous about the whole vet experience. Walking into Selkirk was a breath of fresh air. Everything from Jacey's warm smiling welcome to Rebecca treating Ivy like she would treat her own fur baby. She was so gentle and playful and Ivy loved every minute of it - we had a hard time getting her out of the office! We have also worked quite a lot with Maude, who is just as wonderful. Always so kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better veterinary experience. Thank you Selkirk from Kayla, Lee and Ivy!!
I called Selkirk Veterinary Hospital on Christmas Day and they took me in at 1 p.m. as my little Lacey was not doing very well. The Veterinarian was very thorough checking my Sheltie over. But at the end she said there was nothing more they could do for her so we had to make the very last decision that no one wants to make. They were very compassionate and caring as we spent our last moments with our girl. I would highly recommend this hospital for care of our animals. Thank you very much for your kindness at this time.
To the wonderful team at Selkirk, thank you so much for your continued care through the process of losing my cat Peaches. Dr von der Porten provided continuous and appreciated care for me and Peach, checked in frequently just to ask how Peach was doing, and approached each challenge with honesty and compassion. I felt very comfortable and safe under the care of your team, and Peach obviously did too because she would purr and rub her cheeks on Dr von der Porten. Dr. Meyer delivered me the difficult news that Peach may not be around long, and her empathy in doing so proved that her advisers made a good decision in choosing her as a DVM. I thought "wow, what a wonderfully caring person". There is great strength in the softness that you showed me. Dr Maybank was there when we said goodbye to Peach. I felt very supported under her guidance through that difficult time. I couldn't imagine a better team than yours. Keep up the good work and thanks again for your compassionate care. Sincerely, Amber
Great staff and vets really take their time to cover everything and explain in detail.
