Cautioned me about the procedure (neuter) after seeing the pet for a checkup as it may not correct the problem (aggression) and there can be other complications due to the small size (pet rat). I love to see that they will consider deterring business when it may not be beneficial to the animal.

I won't take my cat and dog anywhere else. The staff are so kind and caring. Dr. Goldman has guided us through some challenging pet health issues over the years including epilepsy and IBD. He is super knowledgeable and attentive. You can trust him to give your pet friends the highest standard of veterinary care

We had a terrible experience with this vet. We went along with all the tests, care and medications Dr. Goldman advised for months and spent thousands in the process. We were scared for our dog and had always thought 'doctor knows best' so we kept listening and paying. We watched our dog slip away, stop eating, stop moving, vomit and have uncontrolled nosebleeds. We brought up his side effects every visit and we were encouraged, despite our concerns, to continue administrating a medication that he was clearly having a severe adverse reaction too. We saw Dr. Goldman for tests and check ups 2-3 times per week at our pups worst. His incorrect diagnosis lead us down a spiral of multiple inconclusive blood tests, urine tests, x rays & ultrasounds. Multiple times we called very concerned regarding his daily medication administration and were told to stay the course. We decided to consult specialists and other vets for second, third, fourth opinions and we were never sent our pup’s file or statements to keep a linear account of the specific costs and tests we had already paid for. We took our dying dog to the emergency in Victoria where they ran a joint fluid test and had results within the hour. We were told to ‘stop the medication immediately that is causing the severe side effects’. It was terrible how simple this statement was and how long we had waited to hear it. Our pup is now on the correct care plan and is slowly recovering to his new normal. We should have trusted our judgement and left with our dog when his symptoms dramatically worsened and stopped the medication immediately. We know this now and it was not fair to let our dog suffer so long because of a hunch diagnosis by Dr. Goldman. His assessments were not thorough, he missed so many signs along the way, he charges you for his time whether you request it or not and he does not provide copies of test results or discuss his interpretations. All in all, we will never let this vet near our dog ever again as I have zero confidence in his practice.

I've seen various vets around Nanaimo over the years and have to say Dr. Goldman is the best, in my opinion. He really really cares, not only about your fur-baby but, you as well. He tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat things. He takes the time to explain everything in detail and will happily dumb things down as and when needed (as in my case, as I was severely stressed out by my fur-baby having to have surgery) The staff are just as amazing and will go over things again. Very patient and accommodating.

When we brought in our cat, who had not been eating, in checking her teeth Dr. Goldman missed the broken one and the loose one. The next week, when her lack of appetite persisted and I took her to another vet, in addition to the broken and loose tooth, abscesses were found. Some time later, when a friend brought her dog to Woodgrove to have fatty tumors removed, the dog died on the operating table. Although 'these things happen' sometimes, in both cases professionalism was lacking.

Dr. Goldman is a kind soul. My axolotl isn't eating, and it's hard to find a vet who will see an amphibian. He took the time to listen empatheticly to what happened to my lotl and gave me advice and reassurance, and offered to see her if she doesn't improve over the weekend or if I can't find someone who specializes. He spoke about her with the same respect you would expect to get for your dog, like she is a conscious being who's feelings matter. He made me feel 1000x better and even managed to get us both laughing on the phone. Thank you Dr. Goldman, the world needs more people like you

Do not let Dr. Goldman do surgery on your animals! Post operation half of the stitches fell out, took months to recover from his terrible job.. He would not take any responsibility and would blame it on my dog, very uncaring doctor with an inflated ego. Thumbs down

Dr. Goldman is compassionate, caring, and unbelievably giving! When I called to inquire about our rodent's issues, he got on the phone, asked the right questions, and gave excellent advice - no charge. He cared for us and our pet for two full days including phone calls where he listened, asked questions, watched an emailed video, and helped in so many ways. He went over and beyond with his care and time and even came back after hours to put our friend out of misery (the first vet we went to overlooked the obvious causing this poor creature and us to suffer all weekend, not to mention expensive prescriptions that went to waste). Dr. Goldman helped us through a very difficult time, and his kindness, generosity, and thoughtful words will remain with us forever.

This vet practice is basically what it would be like to be American and not have medical insurance. They charge you an arm and a leg to run multiple useless tests, and even after spending $1000 all you will receive is a diagnosis. But you already googled everything and came up with the same diagnosis a month prior..... WASTE OF MY TIME
