Camping in Algonquin, my dog needed to be looked at. They told me on the phone (while was sitting in the parking lot in open hours) that fully booked, go to Barrie. Went to Bracebridge Animal Hospital, they were fully booked too, but they cared, least looked at the dog, admitted her, helped. Genuinely cared! NOT SO MUCH AT HUNTSVILLE ANNIMAL HOSPITAL!!! I would recommend the extra 20min drive to Bracebridge instead. Edited on 7th of December 2020: Owner responded (as You can read it below), that it did not happened as i described. I was inpatient... As far as i concerned, that's just simple LYING! I wasn't given a chance to be seen at all. Been told, to go to Barrie, that's it. Would You call me inpatient after i spent about 7-8 hours in Your sister hospital's parking lot? They were just as booked up, they came out and assessed her, determined she needs help. She was treated in between appointments. You can read this on Your sister hospitals Google review. If You just say, we were busy, had more inportant patients to attend, i say water under the bridge. But You call me inpatient? What was i supposed to wait for? Your staff told me she won't be seen! I call You a LIAR!

Cannot believe they call themselves an animal hospital. When in am emergency situation they refused to help my ill dog as I wasn't a client of theirs. I was told to drive my extremely ill puking dog an hour and a half to the Barrie hospital. They first asked if I was a client and I said no then they told me they had no apts so they couldn't help me. You obviously weren't going to help the second you heard I wasn't an existing client. Shame on you. We will never recommend this vet to any of our customers, family, or friends. What a bad reputation you are setting for Huntsville!

Attended this veterinary practice yesterday late afternoon with my 11 year old Doberman who acutely couldn’t walk ( onset only a few hours), after X-rays (nearly $300) and she was diagnosed disc degeneration (fair enough) after that the quality of info provided was vague and it appeared that our questions were met with here are some drugs, go home and give it 5 days. Leaving with a $600 bill and little to no answers or tips on how to take care of my now paralyzed family member, not even when to start her meds. The next day I became increasingly concerned about her not urnating or having a bowel movement, so I contacted the vet again only to be told that she has to have a catheter now (never mentioned before, less than 24hrs later) with additional cost involved with 24hr monitoring of a catheter for input vs output ( not complicated especially with a healthcare background), when I refused to leave my dog who is apparently” now in grave danger because her other option she offered what euthanasia! I find this rather interesting because one phone call to another vet (outside town) no issues with them catheterizing my dog and sending her home to same day to be monitored. To summarize this and my horrible review. 1 don’t tell you clients” and their beloved family member to take meds for 5 days and see what the outcome at the cost of $600 and the next day (less than 24hrs) tell them something else or say you need to put down your dog. 2. If another vet can catherize my dog without 24hr monitoring why can’t you? This concerns me as I wonder about the quality of care this vet can actually provide. They sent home a printed sheet from the internet stating to manual empty the bladder yet when you call to collect instructions on how this is done they say they don’t reccomned it. I do not reccomend this vet what so ever, they do not have the equipment or knowledge to provide care to pets and correct information to their owners.

I had a minor emergency with my dog and was out of town visiting family. This vet clinic was very accomadating and open to helping my pet. Got my girl in the next day as I called pretty late. They were kind, helpful and very thorough. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good pet doc.

Took our 5 month old frenchie here after he had a fall & hurt his leg trying to jump up while we were at the cottage. We called and got in for an emergency appointment pretty well immediately. The staff were super friendly and exceptionally compassionate, great at explaining our options. Beautiful facility as well. It was a quite a bit more expensive compared to what we’d pay at home, but the peace of mind finding out he was ok quickly was worth it for us.

Not recommended. First and foremost the prices charged for service are outrageous. Even the the vet Dominique Solecki agreed when I stated that fact. It cost $86.00 for the initial exam, which was a very basic and non-informative to the reason why I was there. This this is almost 50% more then the average rate. Next came the extremely overpriced antibiotics, Cephalexin 500mg. comparing the $1.53 per tablet they charged to the average market cost of $0.90 is just more evidence that this hospital cares more about money then dogs. They also tried to over prescribe the drugs and prescribe other unneeded medications. next came the up selling and fear mongering. From the attempts to over prescribe and sell more in house products this place will pray on the uninformed and fearful. So if you would like to visit an over extravagant building with nice architecture then this place is for you. If you would like to get great care at an affordable cost please visit somewhere else. Also I do believe both hospitals Huntsville Animal Hospital and Muskoka Animal Hospital are affiliated so you will have to travel out of Huntsville to find other services that will not OVERCHARGE you. In my review I have provided factual numbers to provide the public evidence of overcharging. Thus allowing the public to make informed decisions and relalize that there are other options out there. If an individual is willing to travel 30-40 minutes out of town they can save hundreds of dollars and receive the same level of care without the upselling and fear mongering by employees. As for your personal attack towards me and my reviews and ratings. If you actually did and extensive review you would have found that 70% of my review are positive. So I really hope the public can see how aweful of an organization you are running by your response to my review.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The vet took good care of my dog Milo when he went in for dental surgery. Milo has recovered beautifully and is no longer in severe pain. They called twice to see how he was doing which I really appreciated. Now I am working with them to get his food figured out because he is having allergic reactions. They have been very helpful and offered advice for me and againfollowing up to see what else they could do to help. A great place to take you animal for care. I recommend it highly.

We were welcomed immediately upon entering the doors of Huntsville Animal hospital with a very ill beloved pet. We were accommodated almost immediately with loving care and attention. Services such as on the spot bloodwork, on premise lab results, also imaging expedited treatment. No sending it out and waiting for the results. We were given time, and no pressure as to how to proceed with our loyal canine. Our biggest regret is we hadn't connected sooner with our recent relocation to this area. Our dear friend was so ill we felt we had to make a compassionate decision for her dignity, pain, and suffering . This is our regular vet for Milo, recently he had some tummy issues that were concerning but thankfully the team here had helped and was very informative! During his neutering procedure, the veterinarian had discovered Milo's puppy teeth hadn't fallen out and his adult teeth were almost fully grown in. He called us and let us know this was the case before we Ok'd the baby berth removal. Milo Healed up really well and felt much better afterwards!

These guys are great!! Warm, caring and very quick to help! I had a puppy-emergency this morning with my 5-month-old Pomeranian/Shih-Tzu mix, Kilo. He ate something outside and refused to drop it. I tried going to Muskoka Animal Hospital first, and they were completely unhelpful and unempathetic. They asked if I was a client first, and then told me that they were all booked up, and that I should go drive two hours down to Barrie. And that there wasn't even a doctor there in the building to look at Kilo. Then they told me that even if there was someone there to look at him, that it would be a few days before they could even do anything about it! I mentioned that I could try Huntsville Animal Hospital first, and they said, "oh... yeah... I guess you could try there. yeah." So, I called Huntsville Animal Hospital, and the response was completely different. They asked how soon I could get there, and they brought him in to see Doctor Jason right away. They brought him in even before taking any information, and said they would get it after tending to him first. Making sure he was alright was their first concern! Jason called to chat with me about his own personal experiences with similar situations and was extremely polite, professional and friendly! They induced vomiting and nothing came up, but did not push for surgery as it didn't seem necessary yet. I notice some negative reviews about price or how expensive this place is, but I found that to be the opposite. They could have pushed for an expensive surgery, but didn't want to incur unnecessary costs for me! They continued to call to follow up after his visit. Overall, my experience was fantastic and would recommend these guys to everyone! If you love your fur-baby and want first-class care, this is the place to go!

Been bringing my siamese kitty here (Janna) since we got her a year ago - got her spayed, amazing recovery and healed up quicker than I could have imagined! I haven't had the pleasure to actually introduce myself to the employees here, since I started going here a year ago (Covid measures), but every phone call and brief meeting at the door has been cordial! Also, really appreciate the system they have that let's you know when your pet is due for boosters and whatnot :) last year, I had to get a certificate of health for travelling with our cat and they did a phenomenal job and the price was a lot better than I had anticipated. The cost for the quality of her spay also seemed very appropriate to me. I've had cats my entire life and this was the best healing process I've witnessed.

The other day our chocolate lab had a tooth infection that left her in a lot of pain and in need of some help. We are so happy to say that Huntsville Animal Hospital were quick and welcoming and so helpful getting our fur baby in to get her the help she needed. The amazing, caring and compassionate staff have worked countless hours to save my cat. He was very sick and no one even my own vet wouldn't help him and they stepped in before it was too late. They kept in contact with me several times a day and even allowed me to visit with my cat. Even though my cat still has a long way to go before he is back home they are still working hard non stop to make sure he is not in pain and getting better. He takes the time to explain everything and answer any questions we have about our dogs. Test results are made available when they say they will be, which sure reduces stress and worry. Their COVID protocols are clear and we support them wholeheartedly. We recently moved to Huntsville and a good vet is very important to us. Dr. Jason is a valuable supporter for Golden Rescue and that’s how learned about him…and we are so happy we did.

Recently our cherished dog had a serious injury with her crucial ligament, similar to an ACL injury for us. Given the severity of the injury we were referred from Bracebridge clinic to the sister clinic in Huntsville and Dr Jason McLeod. After reviewing medical history and x-rays, Dr McLeod reached out to us directly and took over 1/2 hour going over the injury, likely cause, possible solutions, exploring options on what we could do to help her live the rest of her life well! Not only was he informative, but the compassion for the situation we faced was evident in his choice of words, and manner in which he handled it. We decided to move ahead, and have the surgery done, everything went really well, we were provided a detailed print out for rehab, and recovery plan for her, and had followup calls to see how she was doing. Then... 3 days later... her other leg went when she instinctively darted towards something. As you may or may not know, surgery for a pet is not inexpensive... the first round was a blow to us... and now we were faced with a 2nd. We reached out to Jason, and explained what had happened, we didn't know if this was end of the road for her or not. Thankfully it wasn't, but it would take some serious juggling and sacrifice to make it happen. Much like the sister clinic, this has a great environment, filled with caring wonderful staff whose prime focus is again, the care and well being of your pets. Our pets are family, we make a huge investment in them long term, and its obvious, preventative care is the best route (and majorly less expensive). If you want quality care for your loved ones, this is the place to go. Our pup is recovering well, happy as a dolt, and the family is relieved. We had to reach out and remark on the above average customer service, the over and beyond care and compassion from Dr Jason McLeod , and the entire team.

When given the hard news about my dogs cancer diagnosis, Dr. Jason and select members of his staff treated me with an appalling level of hostility and disrespect. His staff fabricated falsities to make me appear unreasonable, (which Dr. Jason blindly believed as truth) and I was later charged $120 to finish a conversation he had cut off with my mother stating he had an emergency to tend to (which he later implied she lied about). Instead of being given the benefit of the doubt, I received a lengthy email from Dr. Jason, reprimanding me for my "poor behaviour". The following day, he proceeded to scold me over the phone at length before giving me the chance to ask the few questions I had with regards to my dogs prognosis. Dr. Jason also showed little regard for a growth on my pup's eyelid, which my NEW vet agrees is cause for concern. Instead of thinking to remove it while my dog was under sedation for his biopsy, I now have to struggle to provide relief through eye drops. As a professional in the health care field, we are trained to respond to grief with empathy, compassion and understanding. Dr. Jason demonstrated the opposite, and turned tough news into a nightmare.

I really do respect the Vets and techs at this hospital and the merging Vets from Algonquin Animal Hospital whom saved my dog Zues life 13 years ago while on vacation. He managed to get Bloat on the first long weekend of the summer but because we got him 45klm away to these great vets on time, I got to spend 11 more great years with my best buddy Zues! At My follow up visit to my home vet after his surgery, she was amazed at how clean and straight his 10inch stich was, and well informed me of the great reputation and services of the Algonquin Veterinarians and boasted about this to me. So now I've relocated to Northern Ontario with 2 Weimaraner puppies and Huntsville Animal Hospital Vets and Techs happy friendly professionals. Thanks again!

Given that reviews can only be written once, I’ve had to respond to Dr. Jason’s response via a friend. My name is Kailey Adams and I have the following to share... Speaking of slander and gross inaccuracies: 1) I booked my dog in for an appointment as soon as I noticed the tumour. Dr. Jason later informed me that it had probably been growing for months beneath the surface, and these types of tumours can take time to become visible. So to say that I should have accepted responsibility and been more proactive is a cruel joke. My reaction to the tumour was immediate and not taken lightly. 2) Dr. Jason saying that more could have been done should I have brought him in sooner is an outright lie. He told me himself that even if the tumour was the size of a golf ball, it was likely that it would have already reached past his leg and would regrow if we opted to amputate his leg to remove it (amputation being the ONLY treatment available I might add). 3) The initial phone call in question has been glaringly twisted. Yes. I was understandably upset at the news that my pup has cancer, and I called the clinic in tears hoping to ask a few further questions. Yes. I wished to speak to the vet at his earliest convenience. Yes. I grew increasingly upset after his team repeatedly told me they didn't know when I could expect to have a conversation with the vet. 4) No. I did not DEMAND to speak to Dr. Jason right that moment. No. I did not wish to have him recap everything he had previously gone over as he so chooses to believe. What I had hoped to have answered were a handful of questions, and as a long-standing client I certainly didn't expect to face this type of bullying over an emotional phone call. 5) I was never informed that they no longer wished to have me as a client. I left on my own accord. 6) I never expected them to prioritize my dog over anyone else's pet. That's an absolute farce. 7) Dr. Jason's rambling response (full of spelling and grammatical errors) speaks to his lack of professionalism and emotional control... and his attack on my character as a nurse is a prime example of his petty and derogatory nature. 8) My mother brought him in for the appointment because I knew time was of the essence and I currently live in London. I've no doubt that Dr. Jason would likely skew this as reflective of my lack of responsibility, negating the fact that my dog is aging and blind, and that it was best for him to remain in a home that he knew and a yard full of gardens in which he could safely roam free. 9) The comment towards my being "persistently ignorant" is ludicrous. Granted, I was upset in my initial phone call. But despite being talked down to and diminished at length the following day (because apparently Dr. Jason felt the need to repeat everything he had said in the lengthy email he sent the previous night) I remained civil for the rest of our interactions... even after they neglected to provide effective pain management immediately following his surgery, which I had to return to the clinic for as my dog was in a pain crisis. It's clear that Dr. Jason has no interest in accountability or professionalism, and would rather turn an unfortunate phone call into a landslide of ill will by way of pointing fingers and attempting to slander my career as a nurse. The sheer volume of inaccuracies in his response only strengthens my resolve in MY decision to leave his clinic, and my wish is that this experience will encourage him to reflect on his behaviour before lashing out at another grief-stricken pet owner.

My wife and I have had multiple bad experiences with this so called Animal hospital with two of or Dogs . Jason MacLeod should be ashamed of owning these hospitals. They told us to call if we had any problems every time we have brought our dogs their and have had to call more then a few times . The response always is will get to it when we get to it ,oh sorry the vet is on holidays, When their back will look in to it absolutely not acceptable. Long story short they just don’t care!!

We recently moved to Huntsville and have a cat with a very extensive health history for only being 4 years old. He suffers from from extreme anxiety, he’s blind, has auto immune, feline herpes and bowel problem! The vet took time out of her evening to phone me to make sure she understood his entire history and behaviour when taking him on as a regular! It is thanks to Dr. McLeod and his caring staff that my dog is alive today. I was not a client but when I called with an time sensitive emergency situation the only question they asked was how soon could I get to the clinic. Within 20 seconds of my arrival they had her in and had administered medication to induce vomiting. Dr. McLeod then spent about 15 minutes with me on the phone to let me know what was done and to assure me that Hazel would be completely fine. I am forever great full to this amazing veterinary clinic. If I could give them a 10 I would.

I’ve been a pet owner for my entire life and never felt felt concerned about my pets until I took my dog here. The owner is aggressive, rude and I’m lucky This wasn’t a serious procedure because I wouldn’t trust this man to mow my lawn. My only solace is in the fact I never have to go back and wouldn’t recommend this vet to my worst enemy. I’m not saying don’t take your pet here, I’m saying if the alternative is letting your animal die, then it’s a flip of the coin.

Staff is nice. Run like a joke, $$$. The evidence is in all the bad reviews they didn't even try to quell. Not much care for loyalty or keeping people around. You can't make everyone happy but there is little effort her by the owner. The bad ones they do respond to they pretend to have no dealings or brush off the issues at hand. The owner is a child. This is in no reflection to the support staff as they're are compassionate, workers who don't have a say in how things are run. Remember to treat support staff with respect even when things are bad

Their protocol for Covid is very bad. They have many appointments and don't allow anyone in the building with your pet. My dog was away from me for 1.5 hours while I waited in the car! They need to cut back on how many animals they see in a day! If doctor's offices can do it...so can they! Very stressful for animals to be away from owners. Not good.

Huntsville Animal Hospital has been a great friendly, organized service for us. A few months ago our dog had a very unexplainable thing going on and the team at HAH we’re able to see him the same day I called (although it was not our original vet and especially during these Covid times they are extra cautious). I was beyond thankful for their services and it was well planned out with calling when you arrive and wait in your car while your pet is being taken care of. Every single member who I have spoken with has been very pleasant and friendly and it makes me feel confidant that I know our dog is getting great care while he’s inside and we are outside. Their follow up process amazes me the most and they email or call to check in to see how your pet is doing a day or 2 after your appointment- I love it! Thank you Huntsville Animal Hospital!

NO WAY choose a different veterinarian, they wanted $1000 to neutere my cat!!!. Other veterinarians will do it for $200-$400 at most, that's just **Ridiculous $1000!!**

Huntsville Animal Hospital is an excellent facility with caring, knowledgeable staff. They go out of their way to ensure your pet is well cared for. A vet actually came into the clinic and saw me at 11:00 pm on a Sunday night for an emergency and did xrays on the spot. We forget that animal health care is similar to human care that is covered by OHIP yet we balk at paying for expensive tests and medications that of course aren’t covered. We fund raise to buy expensive equipment for our hospitals that vets have to pay for themselves. The care that Huntsville Animal Hospital gives is worth every penny to have a happy, healthy pet. Thank you to Dr McCleod for providing this level of care in Muskoka.

I am going to keep my two bad experiences that I had in this place, but for sure DO NOT take your dog to this animal clinic. They, do not call you back, they do not provide care to the dogs when need it, the staff is very rude and judgmental, they have communication problems among them, they do not inform the important information to the vet. And the most annoying part is that they overcharge you like crazy and do not provide solutions, diagnosis, information such as lab results or imaging. If you request something they don’t bother to reply unless you are paying more money or showing them their lack of accountability. Avoid this place, that’s all. If you want to find more information, read the reviews on Facebook as well, you will be surprised by some stories and the way this vet answers to their customers. ——— I was never unreasonable. The vet in that place told me my dog had a spleen enlargement, fever, high WBC count, and bleeding gums. She retained my dog for over 3 hours! When she called back, she didn’t even treated and neither reassess my dog’s fever (1.5 hours later). She suggested X-rays, and I agreed with her about doing further tests. 2 hours later, I called because I did not hear anything from anybody; she was at lunchtime, no X-ray was done, and my dog was still waiting. Finally, when they got the X-ray done, I asked for my dog’s lab results, and they promised me they would email me the results the same day. They never emailed me! 3 days later, they sent me the results! 3 days later! ... By the way, (3 days later)the specialist wrote a paper mentioning there was nothing abnormal with my dog’s spleen! If this is being unreasonable, then yes, I agree with you! I was extremely unreasonable by asking you for my dog’s lab results and not getting them emailed ASAP after telling me that my dog was sick! I was always polite and friendly with the staff at this place. I got unfriendly on the third day when I did not hear back from anybody, and I did not get the lab results. (3 days later because I am very unreasonable) Stop being rude to your customers! I had a wonderful experience with my initial veterinarian “Dominique Solecki” I will never forget how amazing, compassionate, empathetic, and caring she was with my dog and I! I cannot say the same about my last Vet at this clinic. I am avoiding her name for several reasons! I decided to make my complaint here and not at the college of veterinarians, I have family members that are veterinarians, and we all agree that this place Neglected my dog. Just be more professional and compassionate, focus on caring about the pets and the owners as well; we are family too! Take these critiques as a moment of growth, and stop gaslighting or reactive abusing your ex-customers! Positive thing! We are all happy that my dog is doing fine; she is a happy and healthy dog! ????????????

Dr. McLeod was amazing. Our dog was having severe issues with breathing and was very bloated. An emergency vet in Barrie told us it was not enough of an emergency. We called Dr. McLeod team the following morning and they had time to see her. She was seeing a different vet, but Dr McLeod made time to treat our dog and get her into surgery right away. My friends dog got hit by a car so she rushed him to the nearest veterinarian (this one). He was dying in her arms as she carried him to the door only to be refused emergency service because she "wasn't an existing customer". The poor guy died because they refused to help him. Please take this into consideration when thinking about taking your animals here.

Starting dealing with Huntsville animal hospital after Abbie tore her left leg ligament at the end of the business day on a friday. Dr Jason was so eager to help us out he personally called us within minutes to get information and to get us to send x rays so he can start the process to get ready for the surgery. When we booked the surgery it was within two weeks which was amazing! . After the procedure he called with an update stating what he did and additional repairs required due to the original injury, We were so happy with the service from Huntsville animal hospital ( the whole team)! 3 weeks later when Abbie tore her right leg ligament , you bet we called right away. We trust the team there and there capabilities. They truly care and are wonderful towards Abbie and we have nothing but nice things to say. I personally find it very hard to believe some of the reviews that are not good because we had a completely different experience as does most people on the reviews. The team at Huntsville animal hospital truly care about animals and you can tell just by the way they talk about options and procedures, they treat it as if it was their own. They care and the level of service is completely professional and world class. Abbie is doing well and will make a full recovery thanks to the team at Huntsville animal hospital. We will be returning guaranteed! ☺️

My cat was seriously injured tonight with a serious hip fracture or dislocation and the answering service was extremely empathetic. The Dr so accommodating and concerned about our cat. She met us at the clinic is ten minutes. You get what you pay for folks! Muskoka Animal hospital had all our cat and dog records and a scheduled appointment and they STILL refused to see my cat because we are new to the area and had not seen the Dr yet ! Caring about animals is better than cheaper prices. Quality care. I can't thank Huntsville Animal hospital enough for.seeing our Chester because he was in so much pain tonight. Dr Jason McCloud and staff are top notch. They are often incredibly busy,which I imagine could lead to some of the poor reviews here. These people are only human,doing the best they can during strange and challenging times. My partner's dog Maizie had double enucleation surgery a month ago. True to Dr McCloud's word,she is a different dog. Pain free,confident, happy,and now navigates her surroundings even better than she did with the minimal sight her poor damaged eyes had provided before removal. This clinic is a little higher on the price scale,but to keep it staffed as well as it is,and providing the level of care that people expect,I'd say it's definitely value for the money spent. Everything has gone up in price,so it's unreasonable to expect this clinic would not reflect that. From supplies,to medications, to the cost of keeping excellent staff. I'd recommend Huntsville Animal Hospital. As a side note,anyone in the Muskoka area that finds vets won't take pets unless they are already a patient at that clinic....this is the norm here. Veterinary clinics in Muskoka are always VERY busy. Always. They have their hands full. It's frustrating,particularly when there is an emergency situation (I've been there,I'm new to the area,and had a few emergencies since we moved up here from Niagara in June 2020). If you are new to the area,I'd highly suggest booking an appointment with a vet close to you now,before there are any serious issues,so that a relationship can be built,and you have a foot in the door when something does go wrong. This is just the nature of vet care in Muskoka,in my opinion. Thank you Dr McCloud and staff, for excellent,compassionate care of our furbabies.❤????

We brought our new puppy here this past week for her first “meet the vet” visit. An appointment is expectedly very different these days given COVID but the staff handled our visit very well. The vet (DR. Hayley) called us while our pup was with her and we waited in our car. Our breed of pup has inherent health conditions to watch for and the vet took her time to discuss them with us. We definitely felt valued and that our pup was is good hands.

We were at the cottage when our pup got sick. Our puppy started throwing up and wasn’t eating or drinking anything. We called multiple clinics and everyone told us we would have to wait days to see a vet. When we called Huntsville Animal Hospital they told us to bring him in immediately and they work out the scheduling details. We brought him in and they treated him instantly.
