Probably the best vet clinic that I've ever been to! I've been bringing my puppy here since the start of the year, and it's always been a pleasure to be here. Dr. Drooker is a very kind and knowledgeable man who never fluffs around with anything - he's always straight to the point. The staff is very welcoming, patient, and helpful. This clinic is also very affordable with the most reasonable prices - no hidden costs unlike other veterinarians!

Called for an appointment sept 6. I was told to fill out a form online with the details, to get an appointment, which I did carefully and clearly detailing the problem. I was called while I was shopping and the first question asked was 'what's wrong with your cat'. I told the person that it was all on the form. I think she did not like the answer. And I didn't like repeating answers I so carefully crafted on a form required to just get an appointment. All this to say that even though my file was with them and there was urgency in my case, I was told that the next available appointment would be in (3) weeks and strongly suggested to look to other vets. I sensed her lack of empathy and a brush off. She didn't care and it was obvious. Other clinics prioritize clients who have a file open with them and many do not take on new clients. So this pretty much left me in a bad situation. Maybe my cat is not sick often enough, and I don't use their services often enough to warrant their full regard for me as a client. This has been my own experience, and my perception of what actually happened.

Caring vets, up-to-date, knowledgeable, well-priced, honest The vets and staff here care very much about the animals. You'd think this is obvious, considering their field, but I have been to many other vets in the past and not all truly care about your animals. They are very honest, well-priced and won't let you rack up a huge bill without first going through all the alternatives with you. Furthermore, the owner/head vet Dr. Drooker is an experienced and competent surgeon. Having the vet that your animal is used to for regular visits also perform surgery on the animal reduces the stress that it goes through. That's a huge advantage that one might overlook. Besides that, the clinic is well located, within a 5 minute walk from the Charlevoix metro station off the green line, and parking in front of the building is decent and usually available.

I’ve gone to pointe vet since it opened at the old location 6+ years ago. I swore by this place ever since. Sadly, this place has gone downhill since they moved. My cat developed a weird skin condition on his leg and Pointe Vet took him right away which was awesome. Dr Adner’s reaction was, “I’ve never seen anything like this before, let’s see if antibiotics will resolve it and if not, come back for further testing.” The antibiotics didn’t work. I called with an update to which a second antibiotic was prescribed. I asked about the “further testing” and should have pushed that more, but she still wanted to try more meds. Those didn’t work. She then suggested I go to a specialist because she was completely lost as to what this was but first we did a culture. Culture came out negative. I found a specialist at the DMV. The specialist said they weren’t sure what this was and a biopsy was needed and I could go back to Pointe for that. After doing the biopsy, we finally found that my cat developed a very rare vascular skin disease with no treatment or cure. The only solution was amputation. After getting the devastating news, we booked the surgery out for 2 weeks. Adner was so sweet and empathetic every time we spoke. She’s a good vet, however I do wish veterinarians in general would jump to a biopsy when they are not sure of a skin issue rather than trying different meds that can potentially lead to long term problems. I actually asked about this and her response was “we prefer not to be invasive so quickly and USUALLY these meds work.” Now in between all this, I’ve communicated via email, and phone many times with techs, and the secretary for follow ups, to which there was a lack of empathy, totally disregarding the stress Ive been enduring and at times they wouldn’t even answer their emails or the phones for days. I got a call telling me my cats surgery had to be canceled due to a covid outbreak and to "find another vet." At this point, having gone through the disorganization, poor communication amongst the staff for months, trying to get through to people etc I emailed Dr. Drooker directly with all my feedback on my experience and asked he find a clinic for me because I felt that based under these circumstances, it was their duty to help me with this. I get a very friendly call back from him, explaining that they can’t control what happens during the pandemic (fully understandably, with that, most clinics are slammed right now) and he will definitely try his best to keep me in the loop and make sure he’s got our best interest in mind. I asked about sending me to another clinic to proceed with this and his response was “it isn’t that simple. In the animal health business it’s competitive so we can’t just send clients to other clinics." This was an odd response to me, because I thought the well being of animals was what mattered, not competition. 2 days before the surgery, I got a call from Drooker telling me he had to be off a month due to family catching covid, so my cats surgery needed to be pushed a month. I asked why Adner wasn’t doing the surgery, and he said she wasn’t experienced enough (she told me she’s done many amputation surgeries so that confused me). I understand this wasn't his fault. He also promised me he would check in with me regularly throughout the month to make sure my cat is okay. Didn’t check in with me once. Surgery happened - according to Drooker he did an awesome job, according to second opinion, now, the incision was poorly done and the stitches were too tight. It took my cat 2 months to heal. I asked on FB if anyone knew a good vet mentioning I wasn't happy with my current one (no names dropped). Someone from the clinic saw (no idea who), told Drooker. and he called me to let me know someone showed him my post, was confused, and ended the call with "good luck finding something better." without even hearing me out. I’ll say that overall, the staff are knowledgeable to a degree but if they ever deal with something more complex, they struggle on decision making and professionalism.

Very happy with our new neighbourhood vet. My usual vet could not fill my cat's new prescription, and suggested that I pick up the pills from the CVPSC. I was not sure about the course of treatment, however, and was worried that I was making a bad choice. I mentioned this worry to the receptionist at this new clinic. She was understanding, didn't try to pressure me to purchase the pills, and immediately offered to have the vet come and speak with me. Even though the vet was busy with scheduled appointments, he gave me 15 minutes of his time at no charge, even though my cat was not actually a patient. I felt much better informed about my options, and the advice he gave could not have been better. I don't think I will go back to my old clinic! The CVPSC are friendly, helpful, and kind. What a great addition to the neighbourhood : )

Dr Drooker saved my Goofy's life! Goofy ate a foreign object that got obstructed in his intestines and perforated it! It was not shown on the X-rays but Drooker did an emergency exploratory operation and found the problem right away. Goofy is now recovering home, he's not quite out of the woods yet though we will be sure in a few days. I've been more than satisfied with the following of its situation and all the help and support of the Pointe vet team. Will never be thankful enough!

As a cat owner, I can't imagine a more perfect vet clinic. Having a sick pet is incredibly stressful and knowing that I have this clinic to support me has been reassuring beyond words. Everyone who works there is kind and helpful, and they make efforts to make sure to assist you as soon as they can. They clearly love animals, but also have enormous empathy towards owners. At every point, they have transparently discussed multiple options with me, and helped me avoid unnecessary procedures that would be expensive for me and stressful for my cat. I can't get this to another vet as they don't have his record. They don't return our calls. I have another cat, we are going to change vets I have never had such bad service with a vet. I don't recommend this vet, they don't do follow-ups. Update: we've been calling for medication follow-up for our cat 3 times and they never return our calls (over 3 weeks) in addition it was they who had to follow up at the start and they did not do it . In addition, there is no time when you can speak to someone in person and you always find a voicemail. I think it's really unprofessional and it's a shame because I really liked this clinic. Very bad service. (Original) 2eme update : Mon chat est gravement malade il a un problème reinale. Cela fait 4x que nous appelons en un mois pour pouvoir avoir le médicament et la nourriture spécialisée pour mon chat. Je ne peux pas avoir cela à un autre vétérinaire car ils n'ont pas son dossier. Ils ne retournent pas nos appels. Aujourd'hui mon chat est gravement malade, il va probablement falloir qu'on mette fin à sa vie à cause qu'il n'a pas pu recevoir les soins qu'il avait besoin du au fait que la clinique ne retournent pas nos appels. J'ai un autre chat, nous allons changer de vétérinaire je n'ai jamais eu un aussi mauvais service avec un vétérinaire. Je ne recommande pas ce vétérinaire, ils ne font pas les suivis. Update: cela fait 3 fois qu'on appelle pour le suivi de médicament pour notre chat et ils ne retournent jamais nos appels ( sur 3semaines) en plus c'était eux qui devaient faire le suivi au départ et ils ne l'ont pas fait. De plus il n'y a aucun moment où on peut parler de vive voix à quelqu'un on tombe toujours sur une boite vocale. Je trouve que c'est vraiment un manque de professionnalisme et c'est vraiment dommage car j'aimais beaucoup cette clinique. Très mauvais service.

When our pet fell ill, I called many places to book an appointment but Hannah from Pointe St-Charles was the one who was the most empathetic and willing to help. She managed to squeeze her in for a surgery the next day and was so helpful during our phone calls. I’m so grateful! Thank you Hannah! I also want to thank Dr Drooker for taking the time to call us after the surgery and the following morning to keep us updated on our pet. We started talking our puppy here since day 1. We have used other vets in NDG and LaSalle before this dog. The team really cares about your pet's wellbeing. They really listen you to and address your concerns. They go the extra mile in every sense and I trust them. Our dog unfortunately has had a rough month and needed to go other vets for emergencies. I didn't feel the support from the other places and felt brushed off. Our vet James really helped ease the additional stress from the other places by checking in and guiding and reviewing our puppy's case and test results.

I have never experienced a Veterinaire more sincere , genuine and caring about my pet. They did only what was necessary for the cat , and didn't try to upsell or push vaccinations like previous vets. IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR PET TO DIE WHILE WAITING 1 WEEK TO COMFIRM AN APPOINTMENT DON’T CHOSE THIS ONE. If you try to schedule an appointment and want to wait 7 days to have replies this is your clinic. Yes we called and emailed them and it took us 7 days to schedule an appointment. Once we got our appointment *finally* we where not sure an email said 11 and by phone they confirmed 11:30. With all the back and forth and being Friday and the appointment being the next tuesday we just decided to take a break from the headache and show up early. Then at the vet the receptionist is not welcoming and is rude. We felt like the service was not great. Our doctor James was more welcoming but then we needed the documents for the insurance and we cannot get our claim because of discrepancies in the medical record. Now we have to figure it out on our own. Our old vet which we will be going back send the insurance claims by herself. We have nothing to do which speeds up the process and we do not deal with the claims. If you have insurance don’t go here they will blame it on the insurance every time they can. Other vets will not do that.

Affordable, good care. There is a small wait to get on their client list and it's not very close to my house but I had to choose this vet because of the glowing recommendations from a few different friends. Their rates tend to be lower than other vets on the island but the quality of care and warmth is still excellent. Their treatment philosophy is very transparent and keeps in mind that not everyone who adopts a cat or dog has unlimited money to spend. Other vets will surprise you with a much larger bill than quoted, or do treatments without asking or discussing what's truly necessary. This vet will explain clearly what treatments are most to least important so you can make an informed decision. As an example, a friend of mine saved over a thousand dollars on dental surgery for their dog at this vet compared to a quote from one in NDG-- worth the extra drive.

We recently moved to Montreal and I was worried about finding a new vet for our 4 year old pup, Zelda, as she gets quite nervous (at first) around new people. The vet (Dr. Altschuler I believe) who saw us was fantastic. She was super patient and sweet with Zelda. My puppy broke his forepaw and I called many vets including my own vet in the early morning for an emergency and none of them opened a spot for me. I called point st charles and they told me they can take me in at 9:00 a.m. I have never gotten a better service in my life! They truly love animals and they are so professional you can trust them 100% with your pet. After doing some blood tests, we found out that he had pancreatitis and that he had jaundice / fatty liver. Dct. Lissa therefore strongly suggested that we hospitalize him with fluids, because he was very dehydrated. After a few days, despite the appetite stimulants, he still hadn't started eating again. The only option was to put a tube through his esophagus to his stomach and force-feed her through that tube so that he would survive. My cat was hospitalized for 4 days and the day after installing his tube, we were able to bring him home and force-feed him ourselves. We spent 2 weeks force-feeding him 3 to 5 times per cheek (luckily we were on vacation). 2 weeks later, my cat ate enough on his own, we took blood samples again and everything was beautiful !! We were able to withdraw his tube, and we only have to give him 2 drugs a day for 30 days. Our cat is super happy and healthy again thanks to your dedicated team. In addition, they offer very good prices! If I had been to any other veterinary clinic, with all the care given to my cat, the price would easily have been double what I paid! I highly recommend this vet for your animals, the value for money is excellent :) Dct Jamy and Dct Lissa are very competent and attentive :) (Original) Mon chat mangeait de moins en moins et a arrêté subitement de manger et boire il y a 1 mois. J'ai appelé cette clinique et j'ai eu rv le jour même. Après avoir effectué des prises de sang, nous avons découvert qu'il faisait une pancréatite et qu'il avait une jaunisse/foie gras. Dct. Lissa nous a donc fortement suggéré de l'hospitaliser avec soluté, car il était très déshydraté. Après quelques jours, malgré les stimulants d'appétit, il n'avait toujours pas recommencé à manger. La seule option était de lui mettre un tube passant par son oesophage allant à son estomac et de la gaver par ce tube afin qu'il survive. Mon chat a été hospitalisé 4 jours et le jour suivant l'installation de son tube, nous avons pu le ramener à la maison et le gaver nous même. Nous avons passé 2 semaines à le gaver de 3 à 5 fois par joue (heureusement nous étions en vacances). 2 semaines plus tard, mon chat mangeait suffisament par lui même, nous avons effectué des prises de sang à nouveau et tout était beau !! Nous avons pu lui retirer son tube, et nous n'Avons qu'à lui donner 2 médicaments par jour pendant 30 jours. Notre chat est super heureux et en santé de nouveau grâce à votre équipe dévouée. De plus, ils offrent de très bon prix! Si j'avais été dans n'importe quelle autre clinique vétérinaire, avec tous les soins administrés à mon chat, le tarif aurait facilement été le double de celui que j'ai payé! Je recommande fortement ce vétérinaire pour vos animaux, le rapport qualité prix est excellent :) Dct Jamy et Dct Lissa sont très compétents et à l'écoute :)

I've been going to this clinic for a few years and Dr. Drooker is one of the best vets I've met. He's friendly, patient, dedicated and you can see that he truly cares about your pets (unlike other vets who just wanna bill you large sums and push unnecessary treatments). He's a great surgeon too! I also appreciate the vet techs there, they are very kind and take the time to answer your questions. The reason I gave them a 4 star instead of 5 star is because since the beginning of this pandemic, they NEVER answer the phone. I literally called 3-4 times a day for 2 days straight and no one answers the phone!! I understand that they are busy, but you can always pick up and ask the person to wait. I've never met a clinic (for animals or humans) that doesn't answer the phone!!! Yes you can email or leave a message, but I hope they understand that it's a LOT easier and straight forward to simply talk on the phone... ** update: I agree with one of the comment here saying they are not what they used to be before they moved. If you have emergencies or elderly pets, please don't wait for them to contact you. They seem way too busy to handle every pet properly. I filled a form for emergency and had to call them to get the appointment cuz otherwise they probably won't call you. The vet who saw my cat (not Dr. Drooker) was inexperienced enough to give a wrong diagnosis and meds and didn't act fast enough. My beloved cat passed away a few days later. I euthanized her at another clinic and got told everything that shouldn't have been done by the vet at Pointe St-Charles. I know it's useless now but I still have this feeling that my cat would be alive today if I didn't bring her there. She could be saved if she got the proper treatment :(

PS,,it does not smell in there like some vets i used to go to.that's a plus they just need to open earlier so they won't be so hectic and they need someone on the phone...at opening time so we are not in a panic when we try to talk

I love going there, its local, James is nice; but they NEVER ANSWER the phone. I call and the blond girl says to call back tomorrow at 10AM but I've called for 3 days in a row with no answer. You go there and they are dilly dallying in the front. This is not acceptable. Worrying about your pets health is equivalent to worrying about your Childs health; some consideration and empathy needs to be put back in the operations of this clinic.

On the other hand, what I did not know was that he did not give me the necessary medications at all, he gave me cortisone, which clearly did not solve the case because my cat is now blind! I have just returned from another veterinarian who gave me the correct diagnosis and confirmed to me that the medications were not what it took to fix his infection in his eye. So, from today I have REAL antibiotics to fix his infection and eventually, my cat's eye will dry and close. I do not recommend this incompetent veterinarian. (Original) Je donne un beau 0/5 comme avis, en début d'année 2018, je suis aller voir le vétérinaire pour mon chat qui avait une infection à l’œil. Celui-ci m'a donner des <> et des <>. Par contre, ce que je ne savais pas c'est qu'il ne m'a pas du tout donner les médicaments nécessaires, il m'a donner de la cortisone, ce qui n'a clairement pas régler le cas parce que mon chat est maintenant rendu aveugle! What a find! I just wish I had found this clinic sooner. Unfortunately, I spent too long with an uncaring vet, who was rough, did unnecessary tests, failed to provide the necessities of palliative care, and charged an arm and leg! When my 19-year-old cat, Missy, had reached the point where her quality of life was no longer good, I brought her here after being recommended by Felinus, and I had read all the glowing reviews. I brought the results of Missy's last blood tests to the appointment, and together with a brief examination that confirmed her kidney failure had advanced and produced thyroid and heart complications, we decided to do the difficult, yet compassionate, thing and put my sweet baby girl down. The vet made is so easy, and gentle, almost beauty. We were put in a room softly lit with candles, a comfortable pillow for Missy, and a handy box of Kleenex. I held Missy in my arms as she softly drifted off to eternal rest. I am picking up her ashes today. I can't say enough about the care & service received. It was compassionate, efficient and inexpensive compared to many vets. They really care about the animal and owners more than making big bucks from everyone who walks through the door. I will most certainly be back should I adopt another fur baby ????
