Right after we arrived in Montreal on vacation, our dog Mitzi started dry heaving, pacing, panting, and keening. Panicked, we took her to Hôpital Vétérinaire. We were greeted by Kevin, who gave water to the dogs and even dinner to our other dog, who we neglected to feed in our rush to get to the hospital. Dr. Marku went out of his way to help us. He went above and beyond, performing procedure after procedure to try to alleviate Mitzi's pain and keep her out of emergency care. Throughout, Melissa (vet tech extraordinaire) translated (our French isn't good enough for life or death conversations) with compassion, competence, and clarity. Eventually, Dr. Marku found a mass in her abdomen. He prescribed medications and explained our (very difficult and not very happy) options. We decided to wait to see if the situation would improve. We talked occasionally by phone with Kevin, who checked in with us, relayed our questions to Dr. Marku, and responded to our every request. Four days later, we took Mitzi back to Dr. Marku to do another x-ray... and the mass was gone! We're overjoyed that we don't have to say goodbye to our dog quite yet. But we would have written this review regardless of what happened. The staff at Hôpital Vétérinaire Métro Iberville was everything we could have hoped for: compassionate, competent, and clear. They took care of us as well as our dog. Knowing that we would leave Montreal after vacation (and not be long-term customers), they could have treated us with less care. But they made us feel completely comfortable and secure in the professional, wonderful care we received. We recommend them 100% and without reservation.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. I've been going for a few years now and pre-covid, loved it. Since the pandemic hit, appointments are rushed and it's really complicated to speak with anyone at the clinic. Recently, they did a great job with my dog's teeth cleaning, although they really lacked empathy and proactivity when it came to diagnosing and treating a mass my elderly cat had in his jaw. We were told in a nonchalant tone, in a 1 minute conversation outside the clinic, that there was nothing to do and that we'd need to put him down. I went to another vet for a second opinion and received a MUCH more humane response. The other vet took the time to speak with me about the condition, potential outcomes, typical treatment options and about my cat's prognosis. Ultimately, when the time came to proceed with euthanasia, I called back and was told that they didn't have any space for an appointment until October (in 1-2 months) and was told to go elsewhere if I needed it to be done sooner. Finding another vet is an unnecessary complication, during an already difficult and sad time.

I've had excellent experiences with Dr.Marku. He is very comfortable with cats and understands their behavior quite well. He has always given me options in terms of treatment, the cheap option, the middle ground, and the expensive assured success. I once went in for a checkup and vaccines and he chipped tartar off my cats teeth with his nail. A big piece came off, solid as a rock. That saved me hundreds of dollars in dentistry. I now brush his teeth regularly. This is my #1 clinic and will drive miles to see Dr.Marku.

Going to a Vet can be worrisome, just like going to a garage, but this clinic changed our view. The quality of service was outstanding, even a little too much where I felt bad for everything they did and included. Like regular calls to keep us informed, accessories, care, boarding, etc. We were referred to this place by a family member, he had also received outstanding service which is rare for him to say. Our cat broke and dislocated it's hind leg. The kind of situation where you're stuck with a decision, that usually comes with a hefty price tag. Choosing a clinic for an intervention/surgery vs a checkup/vaccine isn't the same thing. This Animal Hospital is equipped and able to take proper care of our little ones, without the price gouging, and emotional sales tactics. Dr Marku has always treated my dog well, he has done an excellent job counselling me through complex animal healthy issues, specifically atopic dermatitis. His service prices are reasonable. Someone here complained about the prices for cream being inflated but understand that vet DO markup products, it is a source of revenue for them. Every vet does this and needs to in order to be profitable.

Je leur ai même dit que je ne voulais pas transférer inutilement le dossier médical du chien pour un simple examen, que je voulais absolument la prescription Le jour de l'examen, Dr.Marku m'informe qu'il n'a pas la pilule en stock mais me charge quand même pour l'examen. De plus, il m'offre plutôt un médicament complémentaire, qui est déconseillé pour a race de chien. Je trouve désolant que les différents employés du centre vétérinaire livrent des messages différents sur la disponibilité de leurs produits et que ce soit intimement le consommateur et l'Animal qui soient pénalisés

Very good service! I had to hospitalize my cat after a surgery. Like small veterinaries, they don't have staff during the night, but in this clinic they have surveillance camera and an employee lives right beside the clinic would come in, if needed. During the day that are closed. I was informed to call the emergency number on their door. And an employee or a Dr would come in even during a day off. I was very impressed by their care and work ethic.

I thought this vet was ok until the pandemics hit : no reliable way to communicate with them: if you try to call them, you have to suffer through a very long recorded greeting (5 minutes +) before you can record your message, and then they don't return your call in a timely fashion (it's been 10 days now for my last message) ; the delays for appointments are much longer than the other vets I contacted since; their so-called VIP system where you have to stay outside while your animal is being treated is not reasonable at this point of the pandemics and not in the best interest of the animal. I shopped around and found much better options on all those counts, pandemics is not a valid excuse for poor service.
