I normally don't write a lot of reviews but today I felt it was important. My puppy is my first pet and I was unsure of what to expect from vets especially from all of the stories you hear. From the moment I met Dr. K Chahal and the staff at Dixie Animal Hospital my concerns were put at ease. The technicians are great with my puppy and show her just as much love as I do. Most of my experiences have been with Riley and Christina (Tech's) and they have talked me through all my questions. Initially, I only wanted to see one vet and was not open to any others, but today that changed! I brought Luna in for a quick visit because I wasn't sure what I was noticing from my puppy's spay surgery was good healing or something to be concerned about, Dr. Rav (another vert at the clinic), saw her and what I appreciated MOST about her approach was her HONESTY and her careful explanation. Vet bills can be very expensive and we all have choice where we take our furry family members. Since Covid, the clinic has really stood by us, but today Dr. Rav's honesty, willing to see me and speak face-to-face versus sending my dog in without any knowledge of what's going on with her and her SUPPORT really made me recognize why choosing Dixie Animal Hospital was a great choice. Thank you Dixie Animal Hospital Team.

I have to say that I am truly disappointed by this place. I've got a puppy 10 days ago, and the breeder recommended this place stating she has an arrangement for free second shot. I called them and made an appointment but in the meantime, my puppy started to have a bad diarrhea :( Dixie clinic squeezed me earlier and gave me some meds, but called two days later after the poop lab test came back as it shown parasites. How is this now for getting a puppy from a breeder who is connected to this clinic? So they gave me some liquid meds in addition and off you go, it should get better, but it could be a pesky parasite (giardia). Also, I was told that there will be no free vaccinations. When the puppy did not get better after the first sets of meds run out, I called them basically thinking that they will renew prescription. But instead I was told that I have to come for the appointment yet again (it was a 5 min apt last time, vet was more interested in checking pup''s paperwork then checking him). I called other vet clinics and while some charge if you have to come back, it is at best only a very reduced charge, if not a no charge at all. And the tone and arrogance in which I was spoken about it really didn't help. Needless to say that they have lost a client, and the breeder, Rose Siva from New Tecumseh will be hearing from my lawyers.

We brought our puppy to the clinic in much anxiety because our puppy has been so restless for the past two days and we didn’t know what to do. So we came to our usual clinic to find out that she has developed ear infection. The staffs over there, specially the nurse Ania and the doctor were compassionate and helpful in every aspect. The nurse even gave our puppy a free nail trim service which is very much appreciated. Thank you for your service.

Went the first time yesterday when Rover was sick and the care and attention we got was wonderful. Very professional assistant and doctor. Rover is feeling better already. I felt comfortable and did not feel ripped off by a greedy bunch. The fees are reasonable and the doctor prioritized the issues with my dog and had a plan to help. Very happy customer. We feel comfortable taking our two cats to Dixie Animal Hospital. Dr Hessing is great. You can tell she really loves animals and she is very knowledgable. She listens to what you have to say and is always responsive to any concerns one may have. She is gentle with our two boys and we feel very comfortable leaving them in her care. Her staff are also really friendly and helpful whenever we have to deal with them. The clinic is clean and tidy and very welcoming.

Look up this doctor on Google, you will find he has had multiple vet clinics in different names to get away from all the bad reviews. He works with puppy mills all over ontario, falsifying vet papers. If you care for your pet do not take them to Dr. Chahal. The good reviews on here are probably people that know him. There is a whole Facebook page dedicated to people's stories that have had terrible experiences with this vet. He also goes under the vet name of Lacoste Animal hospital.

Not recommended. Wait time way too long, very disorganized and overpriced. I took my new kitten in for his health examination. They charged me in advance for the procedure --Feline Retroviral blood test . Half an hour later I was told that they could not perform it because my kitten was" stressed and could not be held still" and asked to come in another day. Seemed like this "professional crew" could not handle a 4 months kitten! I had a really hard time to get my money back. Apparently, they were "experiencing technical difficulties" though there were none when receiving my money. After long "negotiations", I ended up taking home cash money which seemed to be collected around the office. What an awful and embarrassing experience! Will not go back there!

Please do not bring your pet here unless you are willing to take a chance. My dog was seen this past week and incorrectly diagnosed (nothing found). After a bill of nearly $700.00 I was forced to take him else where for a second opinion. Within 24 hours my dog was under surgery for a foreign object found and thankfully now onto recovery. After paying for a general physical exam , emergency surcharge, and radiographs a foreign object in my dog was not found by Dixie Animal Hospital. This resulted in extra charges for medication that was completely irrelevant to my dogs condition. After informing Dixie Animal Hospital that there was no improvement in my dogs condition they suggested to bring back him back for blood work, or more x rays of course resulting in more charges or to take him to a hospital. Clearly Dixie Animal Hospital either does not have the the greatest technology, equipment to perform clear radiographs or staff who is unable to take radiographs or read them properly. Bottom line don't take your pet here because you may just be wasting your money and risking your pets health.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!. When I took my puppy first time the vet was super nice and very was gentle with my puppy. However the vet tech or the receptionist... I have no clue who she was or what was her job ,but she was focused on selling their stuff. I am saying forcing me to buy their products. She started to ask me what do I feed my pup and what do I use to wipe him. When I told her she started to bash pet smart and their products and how it will kill my puppy. When I told her I wipe my pet with petkins wipe she was so sure that my pup is going to get infections because its a bad product. She also forced me to do a poop sample when I just did it 2 weeks ago. When I told him I would like to pass that she asked "do you not care about your puppy". I have noooo clue why they hired her to service the animals or to sell products. This was my first experience. They booked us for the 3 round of shots. When we went second time it was a older gentlemen ( I believe the owner) as the vet came and asked me to hold my dog and gave no warning that he was going to put 3 needles and a shot of benedryl. we just stood there as what was going on. after the needle another vet tech came to cut my puppies nails. Last time they gave treat while they were cutting the nails just to distract but this time she told me to hold him tight. I felt bad as he just got the needles and it might hurt him so I mentioned can I give treats while you cut. she replied with a very rude tone of voice "he is going to have to get use to it". I did not know what to say at this point I wanted to get the hell out of there. As I was forced to hold him so tight he was moving so much and Vet tech was screeming at him..."HEYYY, STOPP,, Im going to stab if you move". I have noooo words to explain how Angry I am. I advice you!! Do not go here for they will bash other products and sell theirs, and their way of handles these animals are very insensitive. Here is the worse part. When we came home after that shots, my puppy started to develop redness around his eyes and his face started to swell. we took him to the emergency hospital. That is when They said he is way too young to take so much in (3 needles+benedryl) in one day we had to spend about 700 bucks treating him. hope this helps!

We love this vet they are by far the best we’ve been to. We have a tiny 4lb 10 year old chihuahua that needed surgery on her teeth and they handled it with no problem; she is so happy now. Riley and Cassandra are so amazing, sweet and trustworthy. Highly recommend❤️

I was calling the vets in my area to ask if one of them would order/have a particular dental cat treat for me. Once I got to this vet clinic, I spoke to Sydney and she was lovely. She gave me great advice, input, knowledge, and clarification about what a product like the one I chose will do. She emphasized to me that it cannot undo the build up that my cat already has, but it can help decrease future build up. Also, they did not have the product I wanted on the shelf and Sydney right away showed the initiative to look it up in their system and see if it is something she can order for me. Her customer service was excellent, and she really went over board with making the phone call great. She never appeared bothered by my questions or cut back in customer service for me not being a regular client of theirs.

What kind of place this is! Such a non-sense. I was only one when I was there and made me wait more than 20 mins. The man looks like Vet was not at the washroom, not at the table for late lunch, just sitting rather lie down on his chair, looking at his cellphone. I do not think he cares your pet and or you. I'd rather rate him '0' star rather than 1 star. I do not recommend this place AT ALL.

We have been going to Dixie Animal Hospital for nearly 20 years. We currently have 4 dogs and we feel they are getting great care. We had one little guy we lost when he was more than 18 years old, Dr Hessing doesn't suggest extremes of treatment that would probably make your pet feel worse just to give them a few more days. She is a very caring vet that has always looked at the whole approach to pet care- not just medication. She's provided great advice to us over the years. Wouldn't take them anywhere else.

The staff are really nice and knowledgeable. I was upset that when we brought our dog to this office to pick up medication, they failed to tell us we will have to pay for an exam before they would give us any medication for our sick dog. They originally only said they would test her poop to see if she had a parasite. We brought it in and payed for that. Then they said to bring my dog in for the medication and that they will have to weigh her for the right dosage. No one mentioned an exam. Once we got there they said that if we want the medication, we need to pay for an exam. I understand why they wanted the exam. I was mostly upset at the fact that they were not upfront about everything and that they were withholding the medication from us. It wasn't handled well. The prices are high here, as well. We ended up taking her to another vet to get her medication without any issues and we saved money there.

I am grateful for the all the wonderful staff and doctors at Dixie Animal Hospital, and i'm glad i stayed with them even after the new owners took over - they are just as wonderful, compassionate and caring as the previous owner. Dr. Kanwar Chahal, and all the staff, genuinely care deeply for the well-being of your pet and helped me as well as my cat when Mani became gravely ill and hospitalized for a week. With their help, Mani recovered well, quickly and is still well and healthy! With heartfelt sincerity and gratitude, thank you for all you have done and continue to do. They will continue to be Mani's doctor and any other pet family members i choose to add to my family. I am very happy with this clinic. I took my cat in for vaccines and check-up. My cat is very vocal and opinionated. She was a little off during the exam but behaved. Normally they have to take my cat in the back room and I can hear her screaming. This time the technician came into the room, smiled and reassured me that it was very normal. They did the vaccines in the room. I knew exactly what was happening. They were patient and gentle with her. We saw two people and they were both very professional. They started off by asking us about the behaviour, patterns and our observations. We spent an appropriate amount of time going through the medical history to go over his pre-existing conditions and what that means for us. We saw the employees interact with some other animals that were being brought in and they seemed great with the dogs and cats while we were there. The dogs looked like they were happy to see and interact with the staff, it was adorable. I would for sure recommend this place
