As always, options are offered and budget allowing you make your choice. While I understand there are critical patients especially those that have to say goodbye to their owners (heartbreaking for those pet parents & heartbreaking for those watching while waiting for their pets' discharge) I was left wondering. As I do not live in Barrie I was not able to return home as I waited for my pet to be released. I admitted her at 9:15. At 1:40 I phoned to check that they had her as I had had no update and still didnt but would let me know. Had yet been assessed. At 5pm they called to let me know that hopefully soon she would be seen but I was allowed to leave as long as I stayed in Barrie and phone accessible. At 6 they called with their findings , and options all based on budget of course. Finally after 9 hours, with pet and antibiotics on board we were able to be on our way home.

We became clients of Huronia Animal Hospital on the recommendation of our neighbours whose fur-babies have been HAH patients for many years. We are so grateful we did!!! We made the sought help at HAH because our previous vet clinic made careless mistakes in their treatment of one of my cats which negatively affected him. However, once he was in the care of Dr Tanya at HAH, we have seen significant improvements in his health and personality. We are also in the care of Dr Driver at HAH, who during our very first appointment examined my other cat and also had to let our 23 year old cocker spaniel go. The whole staff treated us as if we had been their patients for many years. They were so incredibly respectful and gentle with Piper and gave us all the time we needed for our goodbyes before and after she crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you to the entire staff at HAH, the care you provide is second to none!!!

Dr.Driver has always been my favourite bring to being my animals too. She always has their best interests at heart and is always making the best decisions for all parties involved. She is one of the best if not the best vet in southern Georgian bay and I drive all the way from Toronto for her to take care of my animals.

Our 5lbs yorkie got neutered here. He is fine, but they gave him I.V fluids and charged us nearly $100 for the fluids. Before the surgery, this was never talked about. I said no to blood work. I phoned afterwards and the vet never returned my call. How much fluid can they possibly get into a 5lb dog? How about a bit of tap water when he is awake. Or show me the evidence that perioperative I.V fluids for a minor surgery, in a young and healthy pup has a morbidity/mortality benefits. We took him here because of good reviews and competitive prices. Won't be coming back as we feel we were taken advantage of.

I was stopping at a friend in Ontario and contacted Huronia Vet. in Penetangushin. The vet in BC sent the records to Huronia and without hesitation, Huronia filled the necessary prescription. Phoned this vet about an issue my dog was having. Since they treated it before, I asked that she be prescribed with the same meds and special food that previously cleared it up. We agreed that her urine should be tested before they would dispense any meds. I brought the urine in and they phoned back and said they wouldn’t dispense the meds until I brought her in for an exam. Total contradiction of what we had agreed on. When I protested and requested they at least reduce the cost of the unplanned exam, it took them days to come to a decision. Days of my pet being in discomfort. They finally suggested I find another vet. Probably for the best. I will find another vet who cares for animals instead of their bank accounts.
