I've seen a different vet every visit and every vet seems to be the same. Rude, opionated, and pushy with upselling different procedures, food, extra blood testing, dental work etc. I will definitely be looking for a new vet.

Having worked in the veterinary field for many years I have a high standard of care and compassion for my pets. Western animal clinic is welcoming, friendly, organized and really goes the extra mile. I was nervous about the first time clipping my dog's nails because I didn't want to hit the quick and hurt her, so the vet tech sent me the link to her favourite clippers and went to the trouble of making a how to video when she couldn't find one she liked on youtube. They take time with my animal and give me same day appointments. They have coffee out front if you come in a hurry. They showed a breakdown of the different options for treatment and medications. I really felt they were reasonable with care and did not recommend unnecessary treatments. They put out all the options but when I asked the vets opinion she didn't opt for the most costly treatment. She looked at the medical history and was able to save us money by recommending a similar medication from the past. This elevated the need for a $200+ blood test. The other money savings that happened was with the medications. I had the option to buy, instead of brand names, a compound made by a pharmacist. This saves us a lot of money on a 7 day medication. I have been able to put that money into the diet and other areas that are extending life and fixing the problem longterm. They worked out a specialized diet for our animal. They sent us with samples. Our cat cries for food and there's a special diet for those cats! We were trying a lot to get her to stop crying to anyone in the kitchen and at 3am for food. It's a problem some senior cats can have and it's been solved in less than a week on the new diet.

Writing this review because of the inconsistency of this place on cutting my dogs paws. Had the dog there recently to get his nails trimmed and inconveniently had it trimmed too short. That wasn’t why I was mad. It happens but the fact this place try’s to play it off like nothing happened and doesn’t tell anything about the bleeding after he was done. So he comes home to me and here I am to find out they were “behind” in schedule and his claws were done free no charge. Wonder why because this place seems to just do it for the money and not the specific customer themselves. Had no problems otherwise but gets one star until this place decides to fix this problem because it’s happened more than once to the pooch and it really is upsetting to know they didn’t tell anyone about the shortly cut nail:/ It takes 5 seconds to let the owner know that it happened but the dogs got ointment to stop the bleeding.

Wow did you know you are privileged to be able to go to Western Animal Clinic. I believe that the Manager Angela thinks she can talk to people anyway she likes. They are rude and forget it is not a free clinic and you have to pay well for their service. Angela get a new phrase “I am sorry you feel that way”. That is too cliché I even heard from a Tech who works there that she is not treated well. Dr.McDougall is the only person there who shows friendliness towards you. Even when you go to pick up medication they cannot even give you a call to say they have placed the medication on the table. Quick to get your credit card though. Avoid this clinic at all costs. Dr. McDougall if you own this clinic get new staff.

Two of my dogs were taken here. The vet claimed to have done a thorough examination of both after which he declared both dog only suffered from a skin irritation and the older dog, whom I had personally owned for 13 years after acquiring at the age of no less then 4, was only 12 years old and had a “few good years” left. Less then a month later I had to make the hard choice to put her out of her misery and pain. Now after being to a proper vet, I have been informed the younger dog has a bad ear infection, possible thyroid issues and more. I questioned their ability when they tried to tell me the older dog, who at the time of this so called thorough examination, had a hard time walking, and bladder control problems, and even though she ate heartily every day, looked like a walking scarecrow, was only 12 with years left, but after the report on the younger dogs ACTUAL health, I wouldn’t trust getting a proper diagnosis from this clinic if it was the only clinic in the city.

I've been a client for over 8 years now and there has been changes but the one thing that has stay consistent is the feeling of vets not doing a complete through check at the yearly check up. They just take your word for it. If I could change it I would like them to do a full pet down, temperature check, dental check, and full blood work yearly to catch things early on. They do blood work but it took 7 years of my golden on a diet before they checked her thyroid.

My boyfriend and I brought our little Bella here when we had to make the decision to put her down. They scheduled us in right away. They were very empathetic and gentle with Bella. I woke up Thurs morning, and my little girl Jessie had a swollen eye and jaw area, I was very worried and called numerous vets, it just so happened Western Vet was the only one who could get me in on that day and not charge an arm and a leg! Dr. Austin took a look a Jessie when we got there, she assured me it sounded like she had gotten in to something and had an allergic reaction, she did a full checkup of her as well and really took the time to make sure everything was okay. She also provided me with steps following her appointment and was so thorough and friendly! It is so nice to bring your pup somewhere and actually feel like they care and have their health and well-being as their top priority! We nearly lost our Great Dane Gracie this week. She fell very ill from a life threatening complication, but thanks to the dedication, compassion and efforts of Dr Thomas and her team at Western Animal Clinic, Gracie survived. The team there went above and beyond to help save Gracie's life,and to assist us (since I lost my job due to the pandemic). One staff member even slept overnight at the clinic to ensure Gracie was cared for. The necessary surgery was quite expensive, so the timing could not have been worse for us as a family. Was not impressed with this animal clinic! I brought my 3 month old puppy here this past November and not only did the vet miss the shot she gave him and get it all over his fur but they also tried to scam me into getting his teeth pulled. They told me his teeth were not coming in right and that they needed to be pulled... they gave me a quote for his teeth that was over $400 and then offered to do his neuter at the same time for $320. Does not make any sense to me why that would be less expensive for 2 surgeries but I trusted my gut and did not agree to it. I took my puppy to get another opinion from 2 other vets who told me he’s teeth were perfectly healthy. He is now 7 months old and has no problems with his teeth. I feel like I was robbed by spending my money at this clinic!!

Of the vets in London we have gone this was the one we found had the best staff and seem to really help both animal and owner. We have had 3 animals put down there and wouldn't go anywhere else as it was done in the most respectful manor possible with everyone's needs met. Recently I took my dog, Thor in because he was limping. They toke him in the next day for xrays and found a hip that appeared to possibly deformed. After much patience discussion, we decided to wait and see before going to a specialist. I don't know what they did but he is not limping anymore. He's on meds but doing super.

I contacted Western animal clinic as my dog had just passed away and i was looking to get a nice urn and other keepsakes to remember him. My vet did not offer what we were looking for. I called Western and they arranged to see me immediately and we had everything arranged quickly. The staff were also very caring and patient with me as I browsed through the catalog picking out what we wanted. They contacted me once they received everything and I picked it up with no issues. I've been visiting this vet for a little over a year now and have taken all 4 of our cats here for specific things. I have never once thought that they overprice. I just took my youngest in to get neutered and it cost $497. We also had his fecal and blood tested and put in a microchip. I figured this would cost more than $500 so I was pleased when I heard the total. They proceeded to call and tell us everything was great after the surgery. A few months ago I had a 3 year old pass on me due to leukemia and I brought him here to get his ashes and paw prints. Again the company did an amazing job and connected with Gateway to bring my little man home for me. They also had no problem with me bringing in the other 2 we had at the time to get tested for leukemia. I recommend this place for anyone. They treat my animals and I with respect and kindness. I enjoy them talking to the pets and calling them by name, not by the type of animal.

Very disappointed. I went to Dr Jeff Grams for a second opinion on my very old sick cat. Mog had several debilitating medical conditions. He used the diagnosis of previous vet, but he “hadn’t read the 68 pages on her condition” after following the previous vets diagnosis”. I brought her to Western as was concerned about her recent difficulty breathing and a previous vet had suddenly stopped her saline drip (as they had prescribed & provided) without seeing my cat. So, I went to Dr Grams for a second opinion & insight on her recent breathing difficulties. Dr. Grams didn’t seem concerned about her breathing. When I asked about her breathing, he replied “it wasn’t that bad” he appeared more concerned about her heart. He sent me home with no insight or explanation. He sent me home with specific instructions on saline drip (slightly more than other vet). He also pushed giving 1 months worth of medication, even though I requested 1 week as her condition seemed to be deteriorating rapidly. His response was I would save money if I bought more. I followed his procedure with the drip & phoned the clinic to understand & make sure i could read the saline bag. The clinic said “to calculate the correct amount of IV saline, you put regular room air into the IV bag via syringe”, I questioned this practise as it seemed unsterile. I also asked for a refund on the pills as I still had some from the previous vet & hadn’t opened the bottle. They refused. My cat rapidly declined even though I followed Dr Grams saline & pill instructions.. Shortly after my visit to Dr Grams, (less than /around a week later, on March 5th), I ended up having a mobile vet come to euthanize my sick kitty as she wasn’t able to breathe well. The mobile vet examined her & explained to me about her state & how she had conflicting conditions, so helping one condition, made the other worse & vice versa. He also explained the physiology on why she deteriorated. Shorty after her death, I received an official & unpleasant registered letter from Dr Grams office stating “... from the recent interactions from which you have not adhered to the proper medical treatment and advice give by Dr Jeff Grams and our technical staff for Mog, we have concluded that we are unable to maintain our veterinary patient relationship.. . and that Western animal clinic will be unable to provide further vet care of any kind to Mog or any other of your animals as of March 5th”. This letter was received after one visit, where their advice was followed except that I was doubting contaminating a sterile field with blowing air into the sterile bag of saline to be administered subcutaneously. The Western vet wasn’t able to explain her condition, the links between the conditions and advised to add regular air into sterile saline drip the secretary/ vet tech told me they did it regularly in the clinic. I would not recommend Western Animal clinic and Dr Grams. Instead of comforting myself with my geriatric sick kitty they used the $ I gave for pills visit did not require, to send me a nasty registered letter refusing me care with Lies how refused instructions on her care ..I had been giving her saline and pills for her condition over a year with instruction given by the previous vet to keep her comfortable and better quality of life with good as possible success... This vet lied saying that I was refusing care with my old friend ... And her ending days implying I was neglectful.. Not impressed!!...

Western Animal Clinic has cared for my pets for over 24 years. I am delighted with all of the staff. When a crisis happens they are always able to see my furry family quickly and begin the appropriate care and follow an ongoing treatment plan. When booking an apt for regular checkups, I have always been able to get an apt at a convenient time. The clinic hours are amazing and care is available 7 days a week. The doctors cover for each other so my pets have an accurate, accessable up to date profile at all times. I must say I have not shopped around looking at prices as I believe quality care, availability, and kindness is difficult to put a dollar value on. The best thing about this vet is that they are science based so I feel confident that my pet is being cared for by competent individuals and that I am getting advice that is backed up by real data and not spiritual woo woo make believe guesswork.
