Don't go to this veterinarian, they are blood suckers, especially Dr. James Rassi. My dog had a skin problem and went to this hospital, he said it's food allergy and give us the antibiotics, cost $300. Three weeks later the same problem came back, and he still said it's food allergy and made us do the blood test, cost us $500. We suspected its some bacteria and needed to FORCE him to check the bacteria culture. And the results turned is bacteria. We sent some photos to a friend and she diagnosed it in 2 SECONDS just through the photos, it's called HOTSPOT. Has nothing to do with food or blood. You are lucky that we are not suing you for mis-practice Dr Rassi.

Well let's see I'm not the easiest to deal with my dog is my family. These people are doing a great job. I have a daschound with a herniated disc and I know this is never a quick fix. Dr. Rassi has the patients and bedside manner of a saint. The staff is friendly tolerant and extremely professional. Going to the vet is never easy but this team is great! Wanted to add that thanks for the food recommend by Dr Killens my dog is doing fine. If I could give you 10 stars I would!!!! I AM GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP!!!

I was unfortunately disappointed after my experience at this vet, after just moving from an amazing cat specialized vet in Ottawa as I just moved to this city. This vet is around the corner from me so I hoped it would be great due to convenience of its location, but sadly the cons outweighed the pros. The vet technician was very nice, but gave me different information and a false sense that I would be in charge of the vet appointment once the doctor arrived. I had to do a vet appointment In order to board my cat, which was understandable. Although, they had access to his file from my old vet and could see he was in perfect health. I was told the doctor probably wouldn’t do a urine test and if he did, they would discuss with me first especially due to pricing and that I am a student. But, when the doctor came in he was abrasive and just didn’t really seem to take a liking to my cat. Small talk was fine until after the normal check up the vet got a needle without giving me information and performed the urine test without discussing with me or asking if I was okay with it and agreed to the price. So at this point I had no idea how much the appointment would now cost... turns out it added over $100 to my bill for the appointment without my consent. I understand that it can be up to the doctors discretion but seeing as my cat has a clean bill of health from an appointment only a month ago from my previous vet, it seemed unnecessary to perform this test, especially without discussing with me first. I decided the doctor knew best and thought not much of it other than being a little perturbed. I then left him to be boarded for 4 days. When I came to get him, there was way too much confusion over my bill and seemed to be some disbelief that I had paid for the vet appointment already. When I asked where the leftover food was (as I packed ample extra as a safety measure) I was told he had ate it all... with the strict instructions I gave this meant that if there was no more food left they had not read the instructions and he basically was way way way overfed. I found this appalling seeing as it was pretty clear instructions and he is at a perfectly healthy weight and receives his normal calorie intake daily. Sadly, due to these reasons I was disappointed in the care of my cat and don’t think I will be returning.

My cat was diagnosed after watching it for two seconds and prescribed pain medication without informing me of the side effects which was quite significant thank you. These medications only made my cat's condition worse. I left with an estimate of several thousand dollars and I'm so glad I didn't make a follow-up appointment there. After being with another vet who gave me the right diagnosis and the right treatment (at a much more reasonable price) my cat is doing very well. (Original) Je n’ai vraiment pas appréciée mon expérience. On m’a fait attendre plus d’une heure et demi avant de prendre mon chat pour son RDV sans jamais m’aviser qu’ils avaient du retard. On a donné un diagnostic à mon chat après l’avoir observé deux secondes et on m’a prescrit des medicaments pour la douleur sans m’informer des effets secondaires qui était assez importants merci. Ces médicaments n’ont d'ailleurs qu’empirer la situation de mon chat. J’ai quitté avec un estimé de plusieurs milliers de dollars et je suis très heureuse de ne pas avoir pris de rendez-vous de suivi la bas. Après avoir été chez un autre vet qui m’a donner le bon diagnostic et le bon traitement (à prix pas mal plus raisonnable) mon chat se porte tres bien.

I’m a regular customer of this vet, staffs are nice, I stick to it even I have moved far away after 2 years. But now they have exhausted all my good feelings eventually. The price is on average, but I didn’t take my cats there for neutralization surgery, and both my two cats have received great great surgery service in two different vets with much lower cost. But the main reason that I will have to quit happens in 2018, both my cats get sick, I spent more than $1000 for all 3 visits, took x-ray and urinary test for one of my cats, get EXACTLY the same meds for both cases (skin and urinary problem), and neither turned out to work. After 2 months my little cat still suffers urinary problem, and I strictly follow the meds instruction, and they insist it was the right judgement and it’s okay, until my little cat finally got regular blood in her urine. Then I start to consider maybe I put wrong faith in them. Regular checks and vaccines, yes there’s no problem but when it comes to illness my cats suffer so much under the treatments throughout all half year. Hey, you know what? When compulsory check happened in vet Griffintown, I was even angry with them cuz I said I HAVE MY OWN TRUSTWORTHY VET, and there you go, it collapses. I’ve seen some responses to bad reviews, you guys keep arguing with your customers rather than go back and consider what’s wrong with the treatment and how to improve. A quick suggestion is that, do better for pets, don’t save out trusts by giving us pets foods for free :) thx anyway for all these 5 years tho.

Vaccination was good. But Warning... Google "bravecto good or bad". Don't take bravecto for fleas and ticks until "you yourself" have checked the potential side effects. I will not use it. Vous devez chercher vous même les effect secondaires de Bravecto avant de l'utiliser. Je vais pas l'utiliser. They should have told me about potential side effects. I will send 80 dollars to the trash to be sure I don't compromise something more important which is the health of my dog.

I have been to a few different Veterinary Hospitals all over Montreal and always left with mixed feelings, dreading any visit in the future. But the experience in the Verdun Veterinary Hospital recently was furtastic! For me the most important difference is that the doctor (Dr.Yves Cloutier) and his team were focused on treating the infection only. Nobody tried to manipulate me into extra, unrelated or unnecessary treatments (vaccination, blood test, etc.) which I always experienced in other hospitals. The treatments were done with great care. My cat was calm. The entire staff is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this hospital.

They basically almost killed my mates dog Hôpital Vétérinaire Verdun almost killed my dog. I have consistently had terrible experiences with this vet. My dog has diabetes, which is very serious and requires accurate and consistent care. The technicians and vet gave me conflicting information on how to care for my dog. When I asked for detailed information they told me to refer to the internet. The information I found on the internet conflicted with the information the vet gave me, when I called to ask questions I was rudely told to not trust the internet. I wish this was the only frustration. After that, I have to order special food and would place an order every week for a case. Every single week it was the wrong food they ordered or they sold the food to someone else or they completely forgot to order it. Again, I stress, this dog has diabetes and can't eat just anything without severe complications. Next, My dog continued to lose weight and I called and asked what to do. The technician told me this was normal and not to worry. (Turns out after consulting another vet, this is a big deal and I definitely need to worry). After that, I struggled for two weeks to get her insulin prescription filled. I called, I showed up in person, I called again, I showed up again... Each day her insulin dwindled and each day they told me her prescription would be ready the following day because the vet needed to approve the refill. It was only when I cried on the phone that the receptionist promised they'd get it done that day. The following day ???? I was notified I could pick up the prescription and when I arrived, there was a screaming match happening between another client and the technicians. They had sold the medication his dog needed to someone else and ordered the wrong replacement. The man was furious because this was the third time in a row they had done that to him. When it was my turn, the technician went to retrieve my insulin and called her colleague over behind the wall divider. They then proceeded to have a not so quiet discussion about how long the insulin had been sitting on the counter. I asked about it when the technician came back and I was told I got a "fresh" bottle and it was safe. (It was not a fresh bottle, later determined) Since that visit, my dog has been on a crazy rollercoaster. I decided to visit another vet and get help. Thousands of dollars later, my dog is hospitalized and dying. Turns out the needles provided with the insulin were not the correct ones for insulin units and I've been underdosing my dog with questionable insulin, causing her so much trauma. When I had initially received the new needles, I had questioned their size and the technician told me all needles are the same and that the unit markings are adjusted based on the brand. Essentially I was told, don't worry about it. The vet I'm currently going to has asked me to put in a formal complaint since this surpassed human error and became medical negligence.

Quand je lui ai demandé s'il était possible de prendre le temps de l'ausculter afin de voir si ça pouvait être un problème physique, il m'a proposé un détartrage et une extraction de **10 dents** de mon chien sans même regarder l'état de ses dents plus de 2 secondes. J'en reviens encore pas. Je dois cependant souligner son grand dévouement et sa grande patience pour s'être attardé à me produire plus de 2400$ de devis sur un tas de choses auxquelles je ne l'avais pas initialement consulté. Dommage que le plus grand intérêt de ce vétérinaire ne fut pas de s'intéresser à soigner mon chien mais bien de collecter mon paiement.

Elyse and the team has gone above and beyond with quick communications, follow ups, sending files and by even delivering my dogs prescription to my home in a special case. We've recently moved out of province and we will indubitably miss the team and their caring nature.

In short a clean place and with a good look and an acceptable service who are there to make money with life and our attachment to animals. Je les ait fréquenté durant un peu plus de 5 ans car elle était près de chez moi, donc le lieux où je me retrouvais pour les urgences de mes deux chats. J'ai eux deux opérations majeurs qui m'on couté très chère (près de 3000$ dans chaqu'un des cas). Pour des opérations similaire j'ai su que cela aurait pu me couté près de la moitié ailleurs. Mais cela passe c'était des urgences... Ce qui m'a sorties de mes gonds c'est quand j'ai réalisé qu'il me vendait la médication pour mon chat diabétique avec une bonne marge de profit. Ma mère qui a la mème médication (exactement la même chose) paie près de trois fois moins chère avant assurance. Je croyais avoir leur soutient considérant que peu de personne s'occupe d'un chat diabétique (prise de glycémie et injection 2 fois par jour) mais non ils se sont fait des milliers de dollard sur cette dépendance. Bref un lieu propre et avec un bon look et un service acceptable qui sont là pour faire de l'argent avec la vie et notre attachement aux animaux.

Cannot say enough good things about this clinic. After a serious medical issue which results in emergency Vet Care (at the DMV) and sky high vet bills they have been extremely supportive of us and our pet family, often giving helpful advice and going out of their way to check in on our lovely (now fully recovered) cat. I never feel worried or stressed about receiving subpar care and the support staff at the front desk are also wonderful. Happy to say this is my local vet and I will continue to go here as long as I live in Montreal.

Quick update on what was our vet... July 2020, quote to remove a teeth on a cat 1400$ January 2021, quote became 2200$, I guess the inflation during covid was very high... We decided to try to another vet in Mont Royal neighborhood, we finally paid 750 tax in with 2 consultation and medicine. But the story doesn't end here... the vet told us that our cat was a guy... 4 years we believed it was a girl because Hopital Veterinaire de Verdun told us so. It gives you a good idea, they are just interested in money... just avoid if you can !

Lots of hidden fees. ALWAYS ask for the cost of every single procedure before agreeing with it. Get a print out of your bill before paying. Usually they just tell you the total and after its paid they will give a printout of the bill. In two ocassions I was overcharged.

My 7 years old cat was in high distress so we rushed him there and said right away to the receptionist that it was an emergency (cat was gagging, foaming at the mouth, purple tongue sticking out, and freaking out). She mentioned right away to the vet that there was an emergency and sent us to the exam room. We waited almost 10 minutes until they came (I was freaking out as my cat was having the hardest of time). My GF had to go see them twice until they came (we could hear the vet and tech chatting in the back). When they finally came, they FINALLY saw that YES, IT WAS A DAMN EMERGENCY!!! They rushed him upstairs and the vet came back 2 minutes later to tell me his heart had stopped (I just felt my entire heart crumbling to pieces and sinking). I asked to see him so he left to get him, never told me anything else and only the tech came back with him. Even the tech asked me if he had explained to me what happened (he did not). Turns out he had a heart attack, either caused by an existing heart condition or an undetected infection. Probably them intervening right away might not have changed the outcome, maybe it would have, but either way when someone comes in with an emergency this delay was entirely unacceptable.

Sharing for a friend but wow! This place should be ashamed and shut down! Hôpital Vétérinaire Verdun almost killed my dog. I have consistently had terrible experiences with this vet. My dog has diabetes, which is very serious and requires accurate and consistent care. The technicians and vet gave me conflicting information on how to care for my dog. When I asked for detailed information they told me to refer to the internet. The information I found on the internet conflicted with the information the vet gave me, when I called to ask questions I was rudely told to not trust the internet. I wish this was the only frustration. After that, I have to order special food and would place an order every week for a case. Every single week it was the wrong food they ordered or they sold the food to someone else or they completely forgot to order it. Again, I stress, this dog has diabetes and can't eat just anything without severe complications. Next, My dog continued to lose weight and I called and asked what to do. The technician told me this was normal and not to worry. (Turns out after consulting another vet, this is a big deal and I definitely need to worry). After that, I struggled for two weeks to get her insulin prescription filled. I called, I showed up in person, I called again, I showed up again... Each day her insulin dwindled and each day they told me her prescription would be ready the following day because the vet needed to approve the refill. It was only when I cried on the phone that the receptionist promised they'd get it done that day. The following day ???? I was notified I could pick up the prescription and when I arrived, there was a screaming match happening between another client and the technicians. They had sold the medication his dog needed to someone else and ordered the wrong replacement. The man was furious because this was the third time in a row they had done that to him. When it was my turn, the technician went to retrieve my insulin and called her colleague over behind the wall divider. They then proceeded to have a not so quiet discussion about how long the insulin had been sitting on the counter. I asked about it when the technician came back and I was told I got a "fresh" bottle and it was safe. (It was not a fresh bottle, later determined) Since that visit, my dog has been on a crazy rollercoaster. I decided to visit another vet and get help. Thousands of dollars later, my dog is hospitalized and dying. Turns out the needles provided with the insulin were not the correct ones for insulin units and I've been underdosing my dog with questionable insulin, causing her so much trauma. When I had initially received the new needles, I had questioned their size and the technician told me all needles are the same and that the unit markings are adjusted based on the brand. Essentially I was told, don't worry about it. The vet I'm currently going to has asked me to put in a formal complaint since this surpassed human error and became medical negligence.

J'ai fait part de mon mécontentement par rapport au prix de la coupe de griffe, considérant qu'à aucun moment on m'a informé que cela allait me coûter 35$. On m'a dit qu'on ne pouvait rien faire pour moi et que le directeur allait me rappeler, or je n'ai pas reçu d'appel. J'ajouterais que la première fois que j'y suis allé, on me proposait des traitements exorbitants pour traiter des démangeaisons, j'ai alors demandé au vétérinaire le même traitement qu'on m'offrait chez mon ancien vet, beaucoup plus accessible. Jamais on ne m'aurait offert ce traitement si j'en avais pas parlé... Au prix que l'on paie, un peu plus de considération de nos besoins et de notre budget serait bien.

On m’a indiqué que la clinique n’avait aucune responsabilité dans cette affaire et que c’est un risque à prendre. La clinique a proposé de me donner un kit de départ de nourriture à chat…nous étions des clients de longue date, mais cette fâcheuse expérience et la manière dont la situation a été gérée nous laisse dans le désarroi.

We have been to this vet two times since it is closer to our house but not our usual vet. The first time, they were extremely late for our appointment and our kitten was misdiagnosed for a simple issue without any diagnostic testing. We then went to our usual vet even if further away and since the prescription that was given to him for his eye was not working, we asked for a second opinion while we were there for his shots and she explained the issue. The prescription she gave worked right away and she took the time to listen and examine him. We didn't bother calling back this clinic for the misdiagnosis and we simply thought we wouldn't come back again or that it was a simple mistake. However after a second bad experience, we figured it was important to give a review. We went again yesterday with a stray kitten we found and we wanted to foster until adoption since the clinic is at a walking distance for us. The staff looked very unmotivated and were unable to answer our questions. They would recommend test without explanations and compared to all the vets I had in my life (and I always had animals), the vet didn't seem confident or confortable with the kitten (he was seriously struggling to hold a 5 pound kitten and didn't ask for help from his technician). He even laughed when I asked a serious question and never gave me an answer. He did the health exam without mentioning if the cat was sterilized and when I asked about it (cause he seemed to be ready to leave) he wasn't sure and seemed annoyed to try to look again. He never properly said goodbye and asked us if we still had questions and afterwards we only saw the technician who came with a bill. In the end, we ended up calling a woman who owns a rescue and she was the one that explained to us the tests and the risks associated with a non sterilized female stray cat for our other cats. I wouldn't recommend this clinic to my friends, family and neighbours. This is by far the least professional clinic I have visited. It's apparent that animal care takes the backburner to increasing profits at this clinic.

I'm surprised to see the poor reviews on here, because in my experience this place (and the associated clinic Ville-Emard) is excellent! The staff are very friendly, approachable and professional. The vet, Dr Cloutier, would explain very carefully what they're doing and keep me updated on my cat's condition, even calling me daily to let me know my cat is doing. My cat was almost dying after going into sudden diabetic shock (he never had it before...), and after a day or so of treatment and care, it's like the vet hospital brought him back to life! I was welcome to go see the cat every day and spend time with him, and the staff were very accommodating, as I once lost track of time and stayed after they were actually closed... Yes, pet health care can be expensive, and this is the first time I had experience with the costs (luckily insurance can cover some costs, so it may be a good idea to get pet insurance!). But the vet and technicians explained very well what the costs and options are.

I recently took my dog to the clinic for dewormer and found he had ear mites. The service was as expected. The medication for the worms made him sick and he spent the evening vomiting. I called the clinic the following day. I received a message back to wait a few days and give the other dose. I thought about it and called back to say I didn't feel right about redoing the dose since it caused him to be so sick. The nice receptionist told me not to give it and to wait until the veterinarian Dr Cloutier was in to advise. So today I was told to divide the dose on a full stomach. I will try in October when the next dose is due. On the plus side I need to bring in my cat for deworming. The doctor combined the cost of the visit so I won't be charged a second visit when I bring him in. I rate a 4. This could change depending.... I found worms in the stool yesterday morning and today. They asked me to pay 26 dollars for another dose of Drontal Plus, even though I paid for an extended visit to possibly bring in my cat for examination but I never did. Why should I have to pay again?

I heard that vets are just after your money, but I didn't realise how much. Teeth cleaning and one infected tooth extraction from a healthy dog $1600? Really? I knew something was wrong from the second they took his weight. The lady mixed 22 pounds with 22 kg... I bet the antibiotics' dosage was wrong too. When taking the blood for a test, the lady massacred my doggy's leg, for 10 times in a row, since she couldn't find his vein. She called another girl for help, which also had trouble finding the vein, but she finally did it. His legs were bleeding all the way home :(. What a disaster.

If you want unhelpful staff and exorbitant fees this is the place for you. Extra tests and overnight stays were suggested unnecessarily. I was concerned had complications due to her spaying last week, went in for a check up. 500$ for the spaying, 75$ for the consult, and no information just suggestions for more tests and more fees. I will not be returning.

I brought in my teacup chihuahua to have her nails clipped like I do every month. I have been going there for a while, and for some reason she went down the stairs and a lady was opening the door at the same time. Peanut, that is my dogs name ran out, into the middle of the street and just kept running. Everyone from the clinic was out there helping me to find her. The team at the clinic was actually asking cars to slow down while we were trying to find her. We had lost her for a while, as you can well imagine, I was absolutely beside myself. Finally a young man said that she was spotted underneath a car and the team from the clinic all ran to that car and got her. I cannot express enough the gratitude to all the members of the clinic that ran out to find and save my dog. Thank you all so much for caring, and I will always be grateful for your compassion and caring. I will never forget it. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR SAVING MY PEANUT.

I called VERDUN VETERINARY HOSPITAL on Saturday May 20, 2017 at around 4:36 PM because my friend's dog's belly was "bloating".Bloat(gastric dilation volulus) is a condition that must be treated quickly.I told the woman who answered the phone that the dog was experiencing "bloat" & she needed to be seen stat!She politely put me on hold for a moment then came back & told me that they could not see the dog!I repeated once again that the dog was experiencing bloat & she definitely needed veterinary care sooner rather than later.She referred me to the DMV in Lachine which can take up to 40 minutes(or more) to get there.We were 5 minutes from VERDUN VETERINARY HOSPITAL!Tragically & unfortunately the dog died en route (1/2 hour later) to the DMV in Lachine.If VERDUN VETERINARY HOSPITAL had agreed to let us take the dog there to have the air removed from her belly -she most probably would have survived!Shame,shame, shame on VERDUN VETERINARY HOSPITAL!R.I.P precious Tania.. Updated response to the animal technician at this veterinary clinic: You should be ashamed & should offer a "heartfelt" apology instead & not "heartfelt" condolences. A message of condolence shows that people care - but you didn't care! You should have tried! My friend realised her dog was in danger of dying which was why we called Hôpital Vétérinaire Verdun. Trying to help was the least that your clinic should have done. I had a death in my family. I called the day after to explain why I missed my appoint, this was my first time I would miss. The Veterinarian told me I had to pay him 75$. This was never written in any agreement. Nor when a family emmener passes do I think about my vet appointment as I’m in shock and dealing with a horrible experience. They let me come in and hold her until she left us. We're devastated. Please, for the love of your pet, DO NOT take them to Hôpital vétérinaire de Verdun (MTLVET). I tried to reach out to them on every platform and they've blocked me & haven't responded. Their mistake cost a beautiful life. .... Hôpital Vétérinaire Verdun almost killed my dog. I have consistently had terrible experiences with this vet. My dog has diabetes, which is very serious and requires accurate and consistent care. The technicians and vet gave me conflicting information on how to care for my dog. When I asked for detailed information they told me to refer to the internet. The information I found on the internet conflicted with the information the vet gave me, when I called to ask questions I was rudely told to not trust the internet. I wish this was the only frustration. After that, I have to order special food and would place an order every week for a case. Every single week it was the wrong food they ordered or they sold the food to someone else or they completely forgot to order it. Again, I stress, this dog has diabetes and can't eat just anything without severe complications. Next, My dog continued to lose weight and I called and asked what to do. The technician told me this was normal and not to worry. (Turns out after consulting another vet, this is a big deal and I definitely need to worry). After that, I struggled for two weeks to get her insulin prescription filled. I called, I showed up in person, I called again, I showed up again... Each day her insulin dwindled and each day they told me her prescription would be ready the following day because the vet needed to approve the refill. It was only when I cried on the phone that the receptionist promised they'd get it done that day. The following day ???? I was notified I could pick up the prescription and when I arrived, there was a screaming match happening between another client and the technicians. They had sold the medication his dog needed to someone else and ordered the wrong replacement. The man was furious because this was the third time in a row they had done that to him. When it was my turn, the technician went to retrieve my insulin and called her colleague over behind the wall divider. They then proceeded to have a not so quiet discussion about how long the insulin had been sitting on the counter. I asked about it when the technician came back and I was told I got a "fresh" bottle and it was safe. (It was not a fresh bottle, later determined) Since that visit, my dog has been on a crazy rollercoaster. I decided to visit another vet and get help. Thousands of dollars later, my dog is hospitalized and dying. Turns out the needles provided with the insulin were not the correct ones for insulin units and I've been underdosing my dog with questionable insulin, causing her so much trauma. When I had initially received the new needles, I had questioned their size and the technician told me all needles are the same and that the unit markings are adjusted based on the brand. Essentially I was told, don't worry about it. The vet I'm currently going to has asked me to put in a formal complaint since this surpassed human error and became medical negligence.

Le vétérinaire de mon éleveur est quand même à Sorel... mais il a tout de suite fait le lien entre ses vomissements et l'allergie alimentaire grâce à ses signes symptômes dans une période de temps donné. Et le Pepsid est très efficace et peu coûteux! Bien qu'on m'a suggéré à cette clinique de Sorel des croquettes différentes toujours néfastes pour mon Hitchcock hautement allergique. C'est donc le Dr Cloutier de l'hôpital Verdun qui m'a soutenu dans le cru maison... Maintenant que le problème est trouvé, la clinique fait un très bon suivi pour mon Hitchcock... Les solutions proposées sont adaptées à la santé de mon chien. Dr. Cloutier a à coeur la santé de mon animal et est très positif ce qui est très réconfortant dans les moments d'inquiétudes. Terrible. Stay away. Went there twice and scammed both times. First visit, brought our dog for a check-up since he had a red mark on his muzzle. Vet diagnosed it as a fungle infection. $90 ointment and a visit fee of $70 plus another amount to test a skin sample. Turns out it wasn't a fungle infection. Vet called us back saying the bite from another dog which would heal on it's own. Apologized, didn't offer a refund for a misdiagnosis. Fine it happens. Second visit, Brought our dog there for a routine checkup and vaccinations. Ended up leaving with a bunch of unnecessary work done for a small scratch in between his toes. Check-up fee of $70, a blood test for $90, $150 for anti-heartworm ($70 online) and antibiotic ointment and anti-inflammatory pills for another $60 each(1 week supply each). And he didn't even receive his vaccination. On top of all this! The tried to tell us we "have" to change his food to the one they carry. We feed our boy the best dog food currently on the market. Oh and one more thing if you are anglophone, the head vet mentioned to us "You better learn french or you will start to make enemies." Our experience at Animal Hospital Verdun has left us completely dumb founded. Never experienced anything like this before.

I LOVE this vet hospital! The staff are always cheerful, reassuring and helpful. The techs are calm, patient and extremely helpful as well, and the vets are great at explaining what's going on and what needs to be done. My cat is (very obviously) overweight due to circumstances that were mostly out of my control, as she came to us weighing over 20lbs. Everyone immediately fell in love with her, and I was given multiple courses of actions depending on budget and overall comfort. Weigh-ins are free and without appointment, and initial check-ups were also free of charge. I'm very protective of my girl, but I'd leave her with these people without a second thought. I trust them and their shared love for my Big Madam! Just be careful calling during "off" hours; you might be redirected to the clinic on Parc ave! I didn't realize until the day of my appoitnment that I'd booked at the wrong place; the staff at Parc ave were also very kind and understanding and waived the cancellation fees as well! I cannot recommend these people enough. 6/5 stars, wonderful work!

I want to thank Dr Rassi for being so professional. I made an appointment with him for a second opinion after I was devastated from misdiagnosis of a brain tumor that another vet gave to my dog, without even doing any test. Dr Rassi took the time to listen to all the symptoms and do the proper tests to get to the problem. He patiently explained the situation and he even gave me some extra information to help me understand better about the illness, that it wasn't a brain tumor after all, but a pretty bad ear infection with similar symptoms (something that I mentioned to the other vet, but she didn't care to take a look to her ears, cause she just assumed that cause my dog is old, brain tumor was the only possible explanation). Now my dog is back to normal as happy as always. I can only imagine what would happen if I had not asked for a second opinion, probably by now she would be worse and in so much pain without the proper treatment, making me even think about euthanasia cause for a brain tumor as the other "veterinarian" said there is no much you can do. Is in this situations that you can sense when someone loves what he does and really wants to help. Dr Rassi is one of them, you can notice that he sees animals as beings and not only pets, he understands that they are family and treats them with the dedication and respect that they deserve. This is the best veterinary hospital I have ever been to. I switched veterinary to go to the Verdun Veterinary Hospital because they use the latest laser technology for all surgeries (wether it is to castrate or remove the claws of cats) which reduces bleeding, inflammation and therefore the overall pain our animals feel vs traditional tools AND because they truly care about animals and treat animal owners with care and respect. I had the best experience after my kitten got surgery for his castration and to remove his claws. After the surgery my kitten had to stay 3 nights at the Vet. On the third night someone at the Vet forgot to call me to confirm that I could come pick him up. When I found out I couldn't make it on time before the closing time. Philip, the technician offered to come drop off my kitten at night after his shift so that we could be reunited (I was missing my kitten so much!) and no fees would be charged (which I would have had to contest the next day since I didnt receive a call). And so Phillip went out of his way to bring me my kitten at home!!! He explained to me how to give its medication and so forth. Now that is exceptional customer service and real care for animals and their owners! Thank you Philip, you guys are an amazing team!

I see they want the best for the health of my animal and take the time to explain the blood tests results and ways to medicate. They emailed me the blood tests results as soon as I requested them. Dr Cloutier and his team went above and beyond when my cat was hospitalized at the clinic. They do love animals. It’s good to hear them talk about being affectionate or about your cat purring and not only medication and treatments. Trust is important. They call you with updates, let you stay for hours w/ your animal and you always feel welcome. Une belle équipe qui s’investit dans le bien-être des animaux. MTLVET has been my "go-to" vet for my two cats since 2016: In Ville-Émard as a default, and I have been to the one in Verdun a couple of times for emergency. I have to say that, in general, they have a great team that really care about your pets. That being said, in my recent visits, what troubles me increasingly is the inconsistency of the service received. I am all in for the well-being of my cats, but not blindly. Here are some of my reservations: 1. I have 2 cats (3 and 4 years of age) who go there for their annual vaccination at different times of the year. For one they "strongly recommend" a urine test each time: When I ask them if there is any specific age range or gender where the test is particularly important, they tell me no, that it is important for all. However, when it comes to the time of the annual appointment for my other cat, there is no mention of this test. This leaves me wondering if it comes down to their achieving their financial target. On top of that, the extra fee for the urine test is not always mentioned upfront (but I go with it anyway because I kind of know how much it costs without them telling me). 2. In my latest visit for a cat with lethargy and loss of appetite, I had a couple of technicians who asked me some questions and checked his body temperature, no sight of a veterinarian, before being given a quote of 800$ for X-ray, blood and urine tests. For the basic consultation fee of 65$, I had expected that they would at least go through his file, a physical exam etc., which did not happen. Due to the lack of “due diligence”, I was not convinced and did not go with the 800$ worth of tests right away, and they gave my cat a couple of shots and follow-up medications instead, for a total fee of 200$ with the dubious consultation. It worked just fine and my cat is back to his normal self now. I wonder if there has been a change of management, or if they have chosen to sacrifice the quality of their service for whatever reason. I give them the benefit of the doubt for now, but I am starting to consider going elsewhere unless I see some improvements.

I brought my dog to this hospital they took an xray and told there was something abnormal, some kind of blockage in his intestines and the dr wanted to perform a surgery of 4000$ right away and hospitalize him for an other 1500$. I was hesitant and brought my dog back home, turns out my dog had nothing inside his stomach and he was fine after consulting a specialist. He had no issues with his intestines. I simply feel confused about my unfortunate experience with this clinic, which I booked for an emergency since my usual vet was closed on the weekend. Not only have they misdiagnosed my dog during the consultation which led to giving her antibiotics for a week, sold me on additional lab tests (not to mention how they tried to push us for unrelated vaccines from their checklist), but haven't acknowledged their mistake or provided any constructive advice about my dog's situation or what I should do next. Close to 500$ later, I'm left worried about my dog and having to go back to my current vet to get proper advice and go through a whole series of tests again. -Will randomly try to upsell you on various products (toothbrush, ear cleaner, etc) regardless of the animal's condition. After recommending this, only cleaned one of the cat's ears. The upsell is presented in a condescending manner that suggests negligence on the part of the owner. I've never owned a cat toothbrush, no other vet in decades of cat ownership has suggested it, and my other cats were all fine with gritty treats, so don't go acting like I'm doing something wrong...tell me you have a better way. Negative sales pressures are not appropriate in this context. -Most procedures were executed by technicians. You'll notice that many of the reviews here speak of *technician* error. The vet is in and out like a flash of lightning, and has to be reminded of basic stuff like the stethoscope exam and weigh-in, presumably because they assume the technician already did everything. -If we're paying to "consult", actually "consult". Vets and techs rush through conversation with the owner, and straight up ignore questions. Guys, those questions... that's the consultation, that's what we're paying for, not the checklist on your pad. I'm pretty disappointed...I was made to regret recommending this clinic. I'd had good experiences in the past, but now, returning to Verdun, I see this vet is no longer delivering the same level of professionalism as before. I hope it's just because of covid, and that things will return to normal eventually, but the form letter responses to other reviews here suggest that they're more concerned with deflecting criticism than they are with changing things for the better. Funny, too, because those copy pastes reveal a similar problem...y'all don't listen to customers.

Hidden costs, careless just to save time. The veterinarian suggested to give two injections in one time in stead of doing them in separate days just to make sure I will PAY two injections. And told me your cat may feel sleepy. After several days I realized she was not sleepy at all, she was feeling SICK after too many injections at same day. She PUKED. They told me the second booster shot was free of charge. But when I was ready to pay, they suddenly added extra charge and say sorry I was mistaking the price. When doing a general check they always ask you to do more, pay more like endless. Will never visit this hospital ever again. You will see, they will always come with new suggestions with bills.

I used the Clinique only once and I am not going to return. The vet is knowledgable but the consultation room could be kept much cleaner, particularly the floor given that the animals are left in the consultation room to explore the sent of the previous patience for a long time. So, I asked if the first dose could be administered in the office so that I can see how it works. I was given a strange excuse. I cannot administer it in the food (they will not touch the food) or by mouth (they violently spit it out) So, the $200 medication goes down the drain and remains very ineffective.

I called to set up an appointment and was told to come at one. I wait for the bus that never arrives, only to have to take a cab. On my way there (nearly at the vet's place), I receive a call at the exact time of my appointment to be told that there was a dog who was brought it and it was an emergency. They then ask if I want to re-schedule, with no offer for reimbursement for my cab ride at the least. I say I will go elsewhere. The cab driver drives me back home and asks for less than the actual fare because he feels bad, having witnessed what happened. I then receive a call a half hour later (seemingly by the same guy, judging by his voice), asking how my appointment was? I go on to explain what had happened (even though he was already aware at that point that I had taken a cab to get there), and he offers no reimbursement for the cab ride, and tries to get me to re-schedule again? I tell him firmly that I had taken an appointment elsewhere as I said I would. Look, obviously the dog gets priority over my kitty, as my kitty was just there for vaccinations. But after all the distress my cat went through after not being used to being in a cage, having a bus not show up (clearly not their fault, but it definitely adds to the situation), and having to pay for a cab as a result, the least they could do is offer to cover the 10$. It's not even the money at that point, it's just a matter of principle and respect. Anyway, really not a good first impression of this place. I am unsure if the staff here can read the clock. I came to the vet around 7:30pm today to pick up some pet food, and was turned away by a staff member because they were closed. I looked at the time posted on their door AND the hours of operation in google, both of which said they close at 8pm. It was clear that they were not closed because staff were still working inside. I had called earlier that day to ask for special renal cat food for my cat who has chronic kidney disease, and they said they would put it aside for me. I could literally see the food containers yet the staff refused to serve me. It would’ve taken 2 minutes max? What was her excuse? “The times on our door and on google are wrong.” Ok, then maybe to make up for that mistake, you could take two minutes and let us buy the food we ordered? The lack of empathy was truly astonishing. Imagine your mother having chronic kidney disease and the doctor refused to prescribe you medicine. What kind of outrage would that be. Thoroughly disappointed. Update your times and your staff please so you can stop embarrassing and tarnishing your brand.

Worst experience at a vet I've ever had. They deserve zero stars. The staff are rude. Zero concern for the well being of your pet. If your pet is upset due to their brisk manner of handling the animals, waiting a few minutes while you calm your pet is out of the question, they must continue man handling your pet so they can get them out as fast as possible and continue making money. Your cat ends up breaking off a piece of tooth due to them insisting on continuing to proceed even though your cat is ridiculously stressed out not their problem, you should learn to control your cat better. That said they are not as expensive as some other vets but I'm willing to pay more if it means my pet will be treated in a caring manner and returned from they vet in better not worse shape.

C’est une réelle industrie et je suis tellement déçue du service que j’ai reçu . Il vaut mieux privilégier des petites cliniques qui se concentrent réellement sur le bien être des animaux, même s’il sont de plus en plus rare malheureusement. Quel genre de vétérinaires ouvre trois cliniques? Helas,je ne pense pas que c’est pour sauver plus d'animaux. Oui le personnel est sympathique mais sur les 4 rencontres, j’ai vu le vétérinaire un maximum de 20 minutes. Il n’y a pas de réel suivis , j’ai vu des techniciennes diffèrentes à chaque fois, ce qui n’est pas très rassurant.Mon chat avait du sang dans ses urines, un problème commun chez les chats et parfois difficile à diagnostiqué, je sais. Mais c’était du grand n’importe quoi, ils ont bourrés mon chat d’antibiotiques et d’antiflammatoires. .Ce même anti-inflammatoire, qui selon ma nouvelle vétérinaire, est très très fort. Elle était choquée qu’ils lui en ai autant prescrit mais pas tant surprise car elle connaissait MTL VÊT. A ma dernière visite, j’ai seulement vu la technicienne ( pas de vêt)qui m’a d’abord parler de stress , proposer une bouffe anti stress, un feliway et d’autre anti inflammatoire... Mon chat est zéro stressé.Ensuite, elle m’a finalement parler de radiographie, en supposant ENFIN des pierres à la vessie , en me demandant « ce que j’en pensais ».Je ne suis pas vétérinaire, ce n’est pas à moi de juger les traitements nécessaire. Aussi, lorsque la réceptionniste vous dit qu’elle « met un note au dossier pour le vêt », ne comptez pas là dessus. A chaque demande de ma part, j’ai dû rappeler au moins 3 fois pour avoir une réponse.En gros, j’ai depenser autour de 750$ pour absolument rien, à part continuer à faire souffrir mon minou. .Mon chat a finalement été guérit chez un autre vétérinaire, pour la moitié des coûts et cette expérience m’a fait réaliser combien l’Hopital Vétérinaire de Verdun n’ont pas été correct.

Our cat was on a program to lose weight so the monthly appointments were included. The first two times, the employee offered to shave the back of our cat and didn't charge us, so we did it. The third time, they forced us to pay 35 dollars to do it after it was done. I mean, an error can happen but don't charge it or charge a reasonable price. My cat has been going to this clinic for seven years. She is now 18 with stage 3 renal failure. Things had become so bad that I have left for a new vet. Communication had been frustrating and confusing with language barriers, long holds, dropped calls, and having to speak with up to four different people for a single matter. Miscommunication was frequent! Medications were not readily available leaving my cat without medication for up to 10 days. In addition, I was only able to obtain half her BP medication each month. And external prescriptions that could be filled by a local compounding pharmacy were difficult to obtain. It has also been difficult to witness her rough handling. For example, in year one a technician pulled a large matt off her hip with a comb, causing her a great deal of pain, then the vet came in and scolded her for becoming aggressive when he examined her. She walked with a limp afterwards and became more anxious and aggressive whenever at the vet. By year seven, it took up to three people to restrain her for BP and blood tests, which was traumatic for us both, especially given her senior, arthritic body. Professionalism and concern for animal welfare are questionable. For example, the vet knew I was leaving and had written a negative review, and refused to provide refills of her BP medication or an external prescription. This left Missy - who is terminal and receiving palliative care at home - without medications until a new vet could be found. The last year and a half since Missy's diagnosis has been very stressful, and the clinic has done nothing to make it easier on pet and caregiver: indeed, in the end, it seems everything was done to make things more difficult and stressful. UPDATE: Thanks to a wonderfully compassionate & knowledgeable mobile veterinarian Missy got her medications, and I learned there is so much more that can be done to help cats in palliative care with renal failure. They made everything so much easier! Indeed, I have chosen this vet to help Missy pass in the comfort of her own home when the time comes. My biggest regret is that I didn't run the other way when that matt was pulled off her back in year 1 at the clinic: I failed her.
