I have been a client of Saseenos Veterinary for close to 25 years and the level of knowledge, compassion and care are exemplary. Amanda Booth (I love her to bits!) will sit on the floor with your beloved family member, go over them with a fine toothed comb, make a diagnosis, suggest a protocol (or 2) and while my eyes glaze over sometimes because I don't understand what she is saying.....she definitely does..know and understand everything relating to your pets health and my beloved dogs have thrived under her care. The first point of contact at Saseenos....either in person or phone ....is the most remarkable reception (not very descriptive of all that they do but I was at a loss for words) Lisa, Cherise, Violet and the rest of the crew are so competent, knowledgeable and caring and I am always put at ease when I call them with a concern about Liza and Lewy (my 2 Standard Poodles). I am so grateful to be in their care and I recommend them to family and friends.

This was September 2018 and I'm still upset when I think of this. I hope they did something about that doctor. [Original review] My last moments with my cat were tainted by that weird doctor chattering away in the corner of the office. As I tried to listen to her last breaths- All i could hear was that woman in the corner babbling away to herself about nothing. Very disappointing experience and her talking throughout the procedure did not make it any easier. Not worthy of one star.

I took my 2-3 year old rescue to Amanda for a 2nd opinion because I had been sitting next to another Lab when she called to inquire after that dog's health two years ago. I understood that she genuinely cares about the animals in her care, and our experience this week reinforced the opinion. She is knowledgeable, thorough, empathetic, articulate and professional, and with many years of experience, I feel a great deal of confidence in her judgment. She noticed more than the condition we'd arrived to examine, and suggested a plan we could follow as well as a responsible estimate for what we can expect in the future when or if a course of action becomes necessary. If you love your four-legged family, you will not regret placing your trust in the care of this woman or her exceptional staff members, as well. Thank you ladies... Chico is grateful for the cookies and the new diet, too!

We routinely make the drive from Victoria to bring our dog here. Their professionalism and continuity of care is unmatched. Well worth the trip every time. Unlike many other veteranary experiences, every visit to Saseenos feels worth it.

The care your pets will receive at saseenos is unmatched to any other animal hospital in Canada. They are extraordinary. My first visit with them was when my Dachshund was a puppy, routine vaccinations... I was impressed with the overall flow of the hospital, the care and compassion from the staff and the follow ups regarding my pets well being. About 2 years ago my large dog Morgan split her tail open and within days it became infected and her skin surrounding the infection started to decay. I called to book an appointment and due to the severity of the situation they got me in same day, Dr. Bell was very thorough and concerned...she advised a plan of bandaging and antibiotics and we would assess the situation in a few days following, the next day things got much worse... Dr.Bell was emailing me up until 11pm with a plan, Morgan was brought in the next day for tail amputation surgery. Dr.Bell was kind, caring and provided me with many updates throughout the day on Morgan's care and progress until I was able to pick her up. The following days after that Dr.Bell was in constant communication with me regarding Morgan's well being and recovery. I've also had many pleasant experiences with Dr. Booth... I am immensely grateful for her attention to detail, her ability to communicate her thought process in regards to care and treatment plans for my dogs...she explains her reasoning behind potential testing and her love for animals is so blatantly obviously in the way she cares for each individual pet and their specific needs as well as being reasonable and understanding the care that is a necessity when funds are limited. Saseenos is an absolute gem, every staff member greets you with a smile and shows legitimate interest in your pets as well as empathy towards each client that's struggling with the difficulty of seeing their animals unwell. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. I have worked in the animal industry for over a decade myself and there is no place I would trust for my pets care above this amazing business. Thank you for everything you have done for myself, Morgan and Renfrew. We are so appreciative that you guys exist.

Since moving to Sooke 6 years ago, all of our fur kids have gone to see the doctors at Saseenos clinic and we love them! The entire team is warm, supportive, kind, and will absolutely go the extra mile to make sure your furry companion is taken care of. They don't just provide medical care - they give them cuddles when you can't and I can tell they genuinely care about how they are feeling and try to minimize the stress of a vet visit for animals and humans alike. From the doctors to the techs to the office team, each of them are amazingly communicative - the personal check-ins from the doctors are really comforting when your fur kid has been under the weather. The whole team takes a consultative approach and involves you by explaining the care plan they recommend, giving you options (where possible) and providing fair and transparent pricing up front. They don't shy away from talking about the tough stuff (compassionately) because they want to give your animal the best of care and quality of life without breaking the bank. I can genuinely say they care about every member of the family - I could see that the whole team was truly heartbroken when we had to say goodbye to our older dog, Kozmo. They did everything they could and when it was his time to go, they were all so wonderful in supporting us as we said our final goodbyes to him. We've lived all across this country and can honestly say that this is the best vet team we've ever had; with Saseenos, we know our pets are in the best of hands.

We took our beautiful little “very healthy” Havanese puppy here. At six months they prescribed him a 3 month tic/flea med called Bravecto. Doses are 5 to 10 lbs and 10 to 25 lbs. He was 9.5 lbs but they gave us the stronger dose. ($$) He got really sick and we starting looking at food allergies etc and did not relate his symptoms back to the Bravecto. We have since learned that there was an FDA warning on this med which they neglected to tell us about in addition to class actions in both Canada and the USA. Hundreds of serious side effects have been reported and ignored by Vets ($$$). Worse yet they still won’t admit they gave him the wrong dose, even told us the Bravecto co. agreed it “was” the correct dose (daaa). Please google this drug before allowing your DVM to prescribe it, our little guy is still very sick and he may never recover, we are heartbroken. This is an “Erin Brochovich” type story if ever there was one. They have not “once” reached out to see how he is doing.

Saseenos Veterinary Clinic and Amanda Booth have been our vet clinic for 20 years through 4 dogs and two cats that they have cared for until their end of life. Amanda and the staff have been unbelievably helpful and caring. Amanda has spent much time on the phone helping us both at home and when we have been travelling. One dog was epileptic and we needed care and advice when travelling in the US. Amanda always did everything she could including lining up other vets in the U S and getting emergency prescriptions filled. She did this at no cost to us. She is the consummate caring professional. Anyone who uses her as their vet has well cared for pets and is lucky to have her as their vet. I wish she could treat me as a patient!!

It's taking me a bit of time to put this up because I would get choked up when I did. The doctor at the vet clinic was so fantastic and she looked after Cloe so great it's incredible. The doctor felt as bad as I did. It was like she was going through with me. I had her for 15 years and it's the worst feeling you can possibly go through at the best possible place to go through it. I highly recommend taking your pet there for anything they are so caring it's crazy. They totally understand your feelings towards your lovers. Thank you again Jason and Maricel.

I moved away from sooke and started using a vet closer to me but they really were sub par (to put it nicely), and way overpriced. We now make the drive out there from town because the quality of care, knowledge, and attention they give at Sasseenos is night and day. Your pets are in good hands with them, bless their hearts.

This vet does not value customer relations. They are not accommodating and have poor customer service. They are very focused on selling pet insurance, and believe that because they have many customers, they can simply relinquish customer relationships based on personal preference. Overall, we do not recommend this vet.

We were in Sooke visiting friends and our dog got hurt he could but any weigh on is hind leg he would not even put it down. My first instinct was to call saseenos, They would NOT see my dog. They were concerned about being short staffed did not even show empathy for my dog, I was told to go to waves. These guys are horrible!!!!! I only gave the one star because they answered the phone.

Family member used this vet. Great vet but if you’re taking the time to hand write and send condolence cards please make sure you are correctly identifying the type of animal that was lost. Writing a Cat condolence card for someone who lost their Dog is salt in the wound. Thank you.

They are concerned ONLY about making money and not the pet. Any vet that turns down helping a sick animal unless you pay them for additional services unnecessary for the immediate care and health of the animal, is not a place I care to take my pet. Not only that, but staff is completely uncaring, indifferent, un-compassionate, and rude.

Caring staff. Had to bring in my mom's dog to be put down and they were respectful, caring and kind. They explained everything to us clearly and the urn after cremation was lovely. The room outside was a bit noisy and there were people laughing in the waiting room which wasn't very nice during the process but hard for staff to control. Would be nice to have music playing and possibly let others know there is a euthinasia being performed so that the guest can be respectful. Overall though very very good and clean.
