Many facilities are based on drugs to quiet an animal but it has been my experience that your pet only receives medication when no other option is available. This place if filled with people who are not afraid to show heartfelt compassion to your pet. An added big bonus is that empathy that is extended to you ... who may be afraid and feeling overwhelmed with helpless emotion for the one you love. Yes this clinic extends their compassion and YOU are an important person here who is showed respect and empathy. In emergency situation they keep you updated frequently. The hopeless and helpless feeling is quickly replaced with the comfort of knowing you made the right decision by seeking help at this pet haven. The most beautiful thing of all as I said before it is all genuine! One more very important factor to many that need this last quality ... you never walk away feeling like you've just been had. Actually the opposite ... what a great deal is the feeling most of us get. Compared to most places this clinic has the most reasonable and fair price. Took advantage of the dental awareness month, as well as the half-price chip day for our aging dog, Bear. Friendly staff, attention to detail, overall very good experience. There is limited parking in front, but extra out back with over flow at the little park across the road. It was my first time, so not quite ready to give 5 *'s, but close.

The fat bald veterinarian was very welcoming and friendly when I went in to get a shot for my cat prior to surgery. He then proceeded to charge me $80 but I then told him that I was there 3 days before and they told me to get the antibiotics from my cat... Charged me $80 to see my cat when I was only trying to get the shots that another veterinarian there already told me I needed ( already previously charged $80), he was very rude. He wouldn't even look at me. He then told the receptionist to charge me 40$ instead of 80$. I said I don't accept that my cat was already diagnosed. They finally didn't charge me for it but then he charged me $120 for an x-ray that I didn't need after my cat's tooth removals. This place is a scam. I live in town and I will never take my cats here again.

While I do appreciate immensely the care that has been provided to the 7 cats and 4 dogs we've brought to Rockwood Vet Clinic over the last 20 years, I have to admit I've been disappointed lately in how money hungry they seem to have become. In the few months since we acquired our new pup we've been in to the clinic easily 5 times for more vaccines and procedures than I can recall any of my other pets ever needing. Each time we are there we feel pressured to add more and more to our bill in the name of our pets "well being and health" and to be honest it's become a concern. We love the clinic, Drs. Roberts, Claire and Dias have always been wonderful to us and our pets, the techs are very caring and we understand they have expenses. But, as a devoted client that has fed the clinic inumerable other clients over two decades, to feel constantly nickle and dimed is insulting (I was actually held to a $2 balance on my acct. After paying over $600 for a previous visit). We arent asking for freebies in the least however, maybe a little more appreciation of your long time, loyal clientele and a little less seeking to add extra charges is in order. I'd really hate to take my pets elsewhere feeling the clinics priorities have been skewed by greed.

I see a lot of positive reviews on this animal hospital, but I do not share that opinion at all. I feel like they are all about $ and not about my dogs wellbeing. The price changes each time I make an appointment - I paid 50 bucks for a check up in Hamilton, this place recently quoted me 70 which is ridiculous. I took my dog in for his shots last month and pointed out a lump on one of his legs, instead of giving me his ' expert' opinion on what he thought it could be, he sent out a bill with the vet tech to have it removed without addressing what it could be or anything. I decided to get another opinion with another vet who was more thorough and reassured me it was merely a fat deposit, but that if I wanted to be absolutely sure we could talk about removal, however he didn't think it was necessary .... thats what I want when I pay 70 bucks for my dog to be looked at, I want a professional response, not just a quote for 1300.00, much like when I go to the doctor myself. Another time I took him in for shots, and I decided he did not need Bordetella - the woman on the phone assured me it was removed. I Called the day before to confirm, still on there. If I didn't call, they would have given him the shot and charged me anyway. Im never taking my dog here again, the place is a dump and quite frankly my dog is too good for it :)

An exceptionally attentive and down-to-earth veterinary practice. Whenever we need to, we take the 2-hrs drive there and back rather than pick another practice in our area. They have done miracles to help our dog recover from a double ACL, and thanks to Dr. Roberts and the staff, Lazer now walks and runs as fast as ever. Highly recommended!

I have been a client with my menagerie since 1998, I found Dr Maine and her team when I had a pair of Dobers, doing the hunt of porcupines in the Arkell/Puslinch Twp area. One evening the girls were in dire straits, i called a few vets, and Dr Maine, said no problem I'll meet you at the clinic it was 11pm or 12 midnight. Of course it was a wicked state of affairs and the girls stayed overnight, and i collected them the next day. Thru the years we have gone to Claire and her amazing team for the basics as well as some obscure, I now live in Brampton I have had the dogs, and cats, I will always have a pet as long as this clinic with there helpful team of associates, they make you feel as they are doing the best for your interests, no pressure just options. By far on of the best vet clinics I have every been to. The vet who handles rabbits it amazing and professional. Their rabbits neutering and other procedures are very fairly priced. If you are interested in spaying or neutering your rabbit this would be one of the best places to go in Ontario.

We took two new kittens for their initial visit. You can't go in or ask questions... Something that should have been brought up when we called them. 15 mins later they walked out with the pets "apparently" with all the checks completed. Had told them to check them for lice, fleas, given that my wife had thought she had seen them, etc... walks out and tells me no they don't have anything and we get home and my wife shows me one right off the bat. The vet there should get glasses or do his job. We could pick up the lice in less than a minute... Not going back there again. To top it off, every label is wrong... the age of the kittens, They couldn't even get the date of the vaccination correct, dated it for yesterday...

I have only been coming here for just a short amount of time, but what I feel here for myself and for my pets, is more than I have ever felt with any other vet clinic. The veterinarians, vet techs, receptionists and so on have made myself and my pets feel so cared about. There isn't that worried feeling in my stomach when I call that I will be talked down to rudely, or that I will not receive the proper care for my animals. This clinic is hands down the place to take your pets. They treat every single animal that comes through the door as if they were their own. You can truly tell the difference between this clinic and others, that they are doing this for the right reasons. I am SO glad I made the switch to come here. This clinic doesn't over exaggerate problems with your pets to receive more money, they truly care about both your furry family as well as the owners. Thank you so much for being so kind, you have changed my outlook on vet care indefinitely.

I cannot reccommend this veterinary clinic enough. They provide attentive care to your pet and up-to-date information for you during your pet's visit. Unfortunately, I've only used their services for emergency visits for my cat, but they were so kind, understanding, and informative. I could rest easy knowing that my little guy was well looked after. They're happy to answer questions or concerns, and to provide updates whenever you call or visit in person. Their prices are also very fair compared to other vets in the area. 10/10!

Dr. Dias gave me a thorough overview of the options available to us as well as her recommendation for treatment based on the risks, benefits, and happiness and comfort of my pup. I took my large dog Otis for rabbies and distemper shots today, he had an examination and report, nails trimmed with personnel reinforcement, and I bought a med size Rollover and paid only $106 incl. tax!!! I was expecting a bill of over $350. This is the 2nd time I bring Otis to Dr. Roberts, and I was satisfied both times. I will check what he can do for my beloved senior Rottie' walking problem.

This has been our vet for the past three years. They have competitive pricing and friendly staff. They have a calendar that every customer can recieve free of charge that has discount days for thi gs live vaccines, dental, etc. Free fecal days and free nail trim days. They have started to up sell on their vaccines, however. I don't love this, as I would rather them only suggest what is needed so that when I do need to get my animals something I am not wondering if they are just up selling.

I can't honestly put into words how amazing the staff are at the Rockwood Clinic they truly are amazing and special people. I have been going to Dr. Clare for close to 9 years now with my dog Duke . The past few months we had seen the staff in Rockwood alot and with emergency appointments as my dog became very sick and quickly. They were always so kind compassionate and accommodating even with all the covid craziness that they and we all are trying to deal with and navigate through. The one thing I have always praised Dr. Clare and her practice for is that she is about the pet and the owner she is not out there to gouge people as she truly cares for our pets and us as owners. When we figured out what was wrong with my sweet old man Duke. Dr. Clare and all of her staff were so kind through all the phone calls and appointments that generally started and ended with tears as it is never easy and truly heartbreaking when you are losing your furbabies. When it came time to say goodbye Dr.Clare and her staff was there with us with nothing but compassion and kind words of wisdom and ease for us and Duke. I will never truly be able to show how much I appreciated everything she and her staff have done for us over the years but especially in Dukes finally weeks. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts !!!! And everyone please remember to be kind to these amazing people if they are running a little behind or they cant get you into until the next day for routine appointments. Because truth is it's more than likely an emergency appointment came in. Hopefully that day doesn't come for most but if it does you would want them to see your furbaby as soon as possible. So please remember that when you get frustrated and be kind . Because it takes a special kind of people to do their jobs. Thank you Dr.Clare and all of your amazing staff!

I am absolutely baffled right now. I just called to get my dog tick and flea medication and was told I would have to change vets to this one or they couldn't assist me with something I can get at any other pet store for my dog. I have never been so insulted. The high pressure sales tactic was very uncalled for. I will never use them. I was debating changing to a local Rockwood Vet but will ABSOLUTELY NOT do it now. Stay away if you already have a trusted vet. They'll try and strong arm you to become THEIR CLIENT just so you can get flea medication. RIDICULOUS!!! UNPROFESSIONAL!!! BEWARE!!! Go to Wingrove instead. They laughed when I called and told them about this incident. Who turns away providing something that helps an animal simply because we already have an existing vet that we trust but is just a further drive to get flea medication? Disgusted. Spreading the word about this ridiculousness that just happened to me.

I brought a resuce kitty from a mill to be fixed and shots and all cleaned up and everything she needed long story short she has been in a clean home 5 months now and I just took her to a diff vet saying she has a ear infection and her ears were much dirtier then they should have been meaning the ear cleaning they claimed they did was rubbish no way should she of gotten a bacterial infection it was from before which they didn't clean out also vet checks her hips and legs say well the move fine so she's fine clearly she's not the new vet could see she had issue walking ect stiff hips something happened in past which goes along with what I've herd all in all I feel scammed and ripped off there's more to it but this review is long enough new vet asks them to send over info on all that they did to her and still haven't bothered thx very nice now she needs to go back to the new vet for w.e these guys did or didn't do also I was told bring her right in she could stay there ect so I showed up with a terrified kitty and was at first basically told to leave lmao lack of communication between them all in all after going to other vets who's diagnosis matches her history compared to what I got told by these guys well I'm just glad I'm too far away now to need to use them ...

Wish I could give this zero stars. I just called to see what their assessment fee was prior to booking an appointment for my puppy however the rude and very unprofessional woman who answers the phone (should be fired immediately) told me she doesn’t give out that information over the phone (insert her horrible attitude) I then replied with well I would like to possibly bring my puppy to you. She then snapped and said well where do you live, I said south Guelph, she said nope we’re not accepting new patients at this time. This place will never run well with her at the front. To the owner, do your self a favour and fire this women who will take your business into the ground if she continues that behaviour!

I'm not sure what to say as my vet really let me down... We have been clients for over 15 years and multiple pets and when I needed them in an emergency I was told that they were too busy with the Christmas Open house and to find another vet in the area to take my dog or try emergency. I knew this visit was going to cost me a fortune as it was and I could not figure out why I should have to pay an emergency vet extra money when my vet was in the office and could have even offered to take 5 mins after the open house to look at her, if at that point she needed a hospital I would have done so immediately.... So I called around and ended up taking her to a vet in Georgetown who spent so much time with us and Bella that we have made the decision to switch.... considering Dr. Roberts couldn't even call my cell on the following Monday while I was at this new vets waiting to see what we should do... unhook Bella and bring her to Rockwood for further treatment or leave her there.... I got my answer loud and clear. Rockwood has never called me to this day to see how Bella is, the other vet called me 5 times over the weekend she was home to see how she was doing... This office used to be amazing and now it seems we are not so important anymore....Guelph St Animal Hospital in Georgetown. The hours are amazing open till 12am during the week and 5pm on weekends, Sat and Sun.... awesome vet! So awesome that when Bella when in for her 2 week follow up she was crying to go back when she heard their voices... I wish Rockwood all the best but I like the feeling that my animals doctor cares a little bit...

I had been a client of Dr.Clair and Dr,Roberts for over 30 years,and their service was great, but lately Dr. Clair is rarely there and I find the service has gone down the drain. Lately, I had been transferred to the new vet Dr.Paul and all he seems to want is to do tests on your dog and get the cash register ringing.With Clair and Dr.Roberts at least they would explain the condition and why for the tests in ENGLISH and not in VET talk. I questioned this practice and why all the tests with Clair and after 30 odd years she told me to find another Vet as she had to back her new vet Dr.Paul. All I can say is if you go there question why and ask what all the tests are for. I personally feel he knows our pets are like are children and we will do anything to help our pet and he is playing on this to get more money out of our pockets. All I can say if you go ask for Dr. Clair or Dr.Roberts.

I took my dog with a sever trauma injury on Sat April 27/2019. I honestly can not tell you how good we were treated. Surgery was complicated but completed with total success. The staff put up with my constant check up calls and were always willing to let me know how he was doing. Pricing is more than fair (to say the least). I might add that approx. 2 weeks prior to my pet's injury I had him at the same clinic to get a micro chip and be neutered. Same great work and again the prices were fair. They are my vet. of choice as long as I have pets.

The women (did not give me her name) answering the phones was extremely unprofessional and rude. I wanted to add my new cats to my account and refused to. I know places are short staff but adding new pets to an account does not affect how many people you need. I was hung up on twice and was spoken to rudely. Myself and my family have been going to rockwood for years. Dr. Clair has helped our animals with great care but her staff could use some of her compassion. I will be leaving rockwood and no longer be telling others with new pets to be going there. Very rude!

I would not recommend this vet. My mothers dog was brought there about 6 months ago when he wasn't feeling well. They kept him overnight, charged her $900 and diagnosed him as diabetic. We took him home and three days later he passed away. The U of G hospital performed an autopsy and they believed that he had passed from an insulin overdose. The very thing he was being treated for. I will never trust them to care for my animals again and will tell my story to whoever I can. Also, the office is disgustingly dirty. Tread carefully

My family has been taking our cat Scruffy, who lived a happy wholesome life until the age of 18. We had an appointment to put scruffy to sleep. The doctor this review is in regards to is Dr. Gerald Roberts. The loss of a pet is already a very traumatic experience to begin with, however Dr. Roberts displayed zero humility and compassion towards my family and i. When he came into the room to perform the euthanasia, he didn't check in with us to see where we were at, and immediately just stuck the needle into our cats leg, we quickly asked him to stop so we could say our final goodbyes. This was an extremely unprofessional thing to do, these suituations are extremely hard and he displayed zero compassion towards us. After the procedure was done, he immediately said "okay folks, he's gone" and left the room. There was no bedside manners, and at the very least, could have addressed Scruffy by name. This was a very hard and sad situation, and this doctor did nothing to make this easier on everyone involved. We will only be seeing doctor claire, or will be changing vets completely

I have heard great things about this clinic but I just called to make an appointment and I had a women answer my phone call... I had a question about the clinic, not even about my pets and before I could say anything she said she was not qualified to answer any of my questions and was acting very rude. Then I proceeded to ask if they are taking clients outside of the area because of the pandemic and she just said she wasnt even qualified to answer that and was quick to get rid of me. I feel that the person at the front desk should be able to answer this simple question. After this poor costumer service experience I most likely will not be taking my pets here.

Listens very well and repeats what you have said as he is writing to be certain he understood what you are saying. He clearly loves animals.

I have brought my cats to this vet clinic and have had great experiences with Dr. Paul, Dr. Steve, and Dr. Roberts. Dr. Paul helped my cat with a mystery illness and he made sure I fully understood the investigating costs involved. Super friendly and I felt like my cat was in good hands. We were looking at surgery and more costs but Dr. Paul was very honest and called off the surgery when my cat showed signs of recovery. I very much trusted his opinion and my cat made a full recovery. Dr. Steve helped my other cat with a blocked urinary emergency and assured me that I did everything I could, and very much assisted with the care going forward. Dr. Roberts helped (the same cat) with a blocked colon that was making him very ill. They are not pushy/do not guilt you into anything and never feel rushed with questions. The reception and tech staff are so accommodating and friendly-they all make a great team! Would recommend this group to anyone.

A very dry reply came to me via email said I had to call to make an appt. When I did, left a message with their answering service. Days later the receptionist who did call told me that I should have gotten the email reply that they are not accepting new patients! Wow if they can't get that straight/right, I fear for the care of the pets!
