Overall I found this place to be great. The vet I saw was wonderful and very easy to work with. Although nervous my cat did very well for his first trip to the vet. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is the cost. In my opinion $75 is a little steep for a cat checkup.

Amazing place. My cat was ill and I had called my usual vet and they were unable to get him in. I call Manitou Animal Hospital and they got him in that day. The staff is beyond amazing. Fast forward a month later and my cat is sick again. Call and they got him in the same day. Next day, thI vet calls in the morning to say he recommends an ultra sound. And later that day my cat isn’t doing well (not eating) and I call and they got him in today.

I recently moved to Kitchener from Cambridge and was a little sad I had to find a new vet; we had a really good vet just a block away in Cambridge. However, my cat Edith who had GI issues shortly after we moved received excellent treatment from Dr. Lam and the staff at Manitou Animal Hospital. The staff seemed to genuinely care for Edith (how could they not--she's pleasant and pretty), I didn't find the treatment recommendations excessive, the cost of the visit and treatment was better than expected, and best of all, Dr. Lam wrote Edith a detailed note summarizing what happened at the visit and indicating what her "dad" should do for her. I loved that, and I'll definitely be bringing Edith and my other pets to this clinic in the future.

Really unprofessional. Staff are very strict, crossing the line to authoritarian. Their covid policy to not allow you to accompany your animal is just over the top and not in line with a lot of other vets. I'm now taking my dog to a vet that allows me to go in and talk to the vet, albeit with a mask on – which is perfectly fine. I hope these guys wake up and realize that they are in a competitive environment and need to be respectful to their customers and not treat them like and never ending resource of revenue. Not a good example of how they must feel about treating our beloved pets, especially when we are not permitted to see firsthand...

I just got my 6 month old puppy spayed at Manitou Animal Hospital today. I loved that they texted me pictures of her once she woke up :) They were so nice, happy to answer all of my questions afterwards, and went through every detail of post surgery recovery. My puppy is doing great, didn't seem phased at all when we picked her up, and she had apparently even been giving the vets kisses ???? They were so good with her, I'd definitely recommend this vet clinic!

I took my kitten for an examination and it was a bit more pricey than the other places, I was told. Dr.Amy was very friendly even though she was only there for a short time to cover other staff's vacation. It didn't really look professional or trusting though when she went to check with another staff if boosters and Rabies need to be done in 3-4 weeks for my kitten. It was nice that I was able to walk in with a last minute call.

They are not rude, unlike other places. They are very caring and not money hungry at all!!. From the ladies on the phone, to assistants and Drs, everyone is so nice!!. I have a dilemma with Manitou. It was the only get we went to for 12 years. Our boy was so comfortable and generally loved going to the vet. I had always had good experiences, especially with Peter. It is a little pricier than other vets but we were happy paying their prices because our boy liked it so much. The first experiance was when we were quoted for surgery. It was to remove a lump from his private area. We were quoted almost 1000 dollars so we decided to wait. Luckily when we went in for his next shots we got Peter and he ended up performing the surgery for under 400 dollars. The last time I brought my boy in there he had ripped a fat deposit open in his paw. I was at first asking if someone could just quickly look at it to see if we were able to cut it off ourselves as my mother in law is a vet tech. They didn't want to bring me in examining I didn't have an appointment. This would have been a two second exam. Finally they allowed us to come in, when we got there there wasn't any animals waiting or in the rooms, nor did any other animals come in after me. We explained again that we just wanted someone to look at it to see if we could mend it ourselves. They took him to the back, then two minutes later brought him out all bandaged up. They said that there was nothing attached to it they just cut it off. So I was a little upset but figured it couldn't be too much money. I go to pay for the procedure I didn't ask for and the bill was almost 400 dollars. I had to pay for a full exam when I'm sure they didn't examine his whole body, plus the vets time, two minutes and charged for 30 minutes. We get home and when the bandage came off they hadn't stitched or cauderized the wound so it would still bleed. I was extremely unhappy. He passed away a little while later. I now have another puppy and have switched to another vet. They are cheaper for sure but the quality isn't as good. Long story short, it depends on the staff. Some are so so amazing. But some just are not.

This animal hospital had a very good reputation in the past but my experiences lately have been less than pleasing. My dog is suffering but according to them everything is fine. I had to remind for my dog's temperature to be taken. Took samples for testing and never received a phone call. I called and was told tech only works Saturdays. Since it's Monday I guess I now have to wait. If your pet has a serious condition I would suggest avoiding this place.

Won't be going back to this vet. I had been with my dog a couple years ago when I first got my dog and was living in the city, and had a wonderful vet there who was so kind and friendly and ensured my dog trusted her. Today I went back with my dog, as I've recently moved back to the area and had a horrible vet. My dog is nervous around people and dogs, and I told them this before coming. And yet, when the vet first walked in, she commanded him in a loud and aggressive voice to "get down" when he jumped up on her. Nervous dogs jump. Similarly, he jumped up to look on the counter and she rudely said "does he do that at home?" I felt throughout the visit she was implying I wasn't managing my dog properly. Despite my explaining that my dog was meant to be euthanized for fear aggression, that he has been rehabilitated through positive reinforcement training and calming medication, and that he is still nervous to touch and to new people, she and two vet techs muzzled him to clean out his ears. This would be okay if any one of the three people had made any effort to let him sniff them, meet them, or perhaps even given him a treat. No one did. So, my nervous dog had three strangers touching all parts of his body, while he was muzzled and helpless. First of all, this is so detrimental to all the training we've done. Second, I felt like my dog was being violated and was given no respect. I honestly felt like the vet didn't even like dogs, and I felt like no one knew a thing about anxious or nervous dogs. This despite me calling and speaking at-length with the receptionist before making an appointment. I specifically asked for someone who knew about nervous dogs. As a new "patient", I felt there was no time taken to get to know us, to meet my dog before shoving devices into his ear, or to accommodate his needs. I told the vet that usually (at my pervious vet) I put the stethoscope against him because he is more comfortable with my touch; instead, she told me to hold his head away from her so she could do it. Honestly, I felt like my own knowledge of my dog and his needs meant nothing, and her forceful methods of dealing with animals overpowered anything I could do. I will not be returning, even though my dog needs a second dose of his ear infection medicine. I will search for a new vet this week to get him the second dose, or just pay to do it over again in a new clinic. That's who badly I felt this vet was. I would not recommend them to anyone who loves their dog.

Amazing veterinarians and staff..they helped my father through a very difficult time putting his best friend to rest. Very thankful for all of their care and compassion. We recently took our second cat to Manitou Animal Hospital to be spayed. As usual, everything went well and our Cat is recovering well. One comment I would like to make relates to the transfer of information. I'm sure I speak for many pet owners in saying that our pets mean a LOT to us. I personally would appreciate a very quick and brief summary of events in an attempt to aid in answering some obvious questions that may arise. This also helps to provide more comfort to the owner knowing that everything is well and was done for a logical reason. For example, our first cat returned home with one paw shaved for an IV. Our second cat had all 4 paws shaved. This is a minor thing but caused me to wonder if something was wrong that caused this. I called the Hospital and my concerns were eased as they provided with all of the information I requested. This helped to ease any concerns and we are very happy customers once again. Thank you as always for taking care of our pets!

Took my poor dog there to get put down and when we got there they took us right into a room that was set up with a nice mat for him to lay on and some tissues. My dog was more comfortable on the floor rather then the table so they did the whole procedure on their hands and knees. After it was done they gave us all the time we needed with no rush what so ever. A couple days later we received a card with his paw prints on them. I appreciated that so much. They made the experience as best as it possibly could be. :)

This place is amazing. The vet is delightful, and very helpful. The staff is friendly, and even though my pup is nervous without us, they are careful and gentle and he does great even when we can't be with him in the appointment due to COVID. THANK YOU for taking care of our little Oreo!

Staff is always incredibly friendly and understanding, and do their best to help with whatever health concern our pets have had. I've never had an issue, all of the techs and assistants are excellent! However, contacting them can be difficult. Calling often results in a busy tone, which can be rather frustrating when we're bringing our cat in or picking something up and they don't see us outside the door. It definitely gets buzy though, so I totally understand. Just putting it out there. Other than that, it's a great animal hospital!
