We brought our pups here today for their first exam, shots, etc. The vet, staff and shadowing co-op students were so friendly, it's obvious how much they love animals. The vet and assistant were professional, handled the pups gently and calmly, explained and answered questions with patience. I was expecting fur flying, yelps and whimpering, but the pups did not get upset at all and didn't appear to notice the needle going in, being too distracted with the attention and treats. Being one of the most affordable clinics around I wondered whether service would be impaired, but it was not at all. My appointment was on time, up to 4 people available to assist, room was clean and warm. I was offered a multi-pet discount and some upgrades on the vaccines. We went with the Wellness Plan, wanting to make sure everything was covered, so the pups have little problems especially in the first year. I'm looking forward to our future visits. The staff is friendly, they love their jobs. The vet himself speaks good English but is sometimes hard to understand, the assistants will explain to you if you have trouble. The environment itself is very casual and the clinic itself is small. The rates are very reasonable and staff will work with you if money is an issue. I want to rate higher because I like these people, but wait times can sometimes be a little much, then sometimes they are prompt. But they are very accommodating. Also since the clinic itself is small you can feel a little cramped. I hope to raise my review in the future.

They would not tell me what my dog had until she got an x-ray and she didn't even need an x-ray. I have a blood test done and I also got a urine test to see if anything was wrong with her. And they would not tell me what she had until she get an X-ray done. But her bones were perfectly fine. I even asked another vet of what they were doing and the other vet said that they didn't really need the x-ray they could have just found out what it was from the blood test with urine test. So they didn't subscribe her to any antibiotics or anything like that or any medicine until she got an x-ray. Few days later my dog dies.

I had asked quite the amount of questions before choosing this vet clinic over the 9 others I had inquired about. I was considerably surprised to find no irritation or disrespect shown at all, both online and in-person. I hope that I will not be proven wrong in my next meetings. It might not have been much to you, but it has definitely made my day!

I got my first dog last May...her name is Primrose(Rosie) and she is a Morkie Poo. From the very first visit, I felt reassured that my puppy was in competent and caring hands. Not only is the service excellant, the cost is extremely affordable and fair. No matter what my concern is, Rosie is seen quickly with loads of kindness. I would recommend this vet to anyone who wants nothing but excellence for their fur baby!

I been to this vet over the full course of a year and never had any problems with them and their care with my cat. Over the full course of the year my cat has been scratching and the vet worked with me to determine the cause of the constant scratching my kitty was doing. The vet recommended to start off with simply switching my cats food diet entirely, we removed all bird products and corn from her diet to eliminate any possible causes that she might be allergic to. She has had a lot of up's and downs over the course of the year and she was still scratching, so the vet and I spoken again this past Friday, September 21/2018 and I explained to him about the full dietary switch and how my husband and I think she may have an allergy to my carpet and that it may be the culprit to her scratching. The veteranarian had given me an allergy medicine for my baby girl and she has been on it since Friday. The medication is working, the scratching has stopped and she is healing beautifully. We have not had one scratch since Friday night so something is working. I strongly do recommend this vet for anyone who has a kitty that has an allergy to carpet. It is quite common actually and I plan on getting a skin biopsy done to determine the full cause of my kitty's allergy. The prices are also reasonable and affordable, plus the entire team will work with you if money is an issue. The veteranarian himself is super sweet and super gentle with my cat, even when she is stressed he remains to be calm and gentle with her, he offers advice and support to both you and your furbaby, he shows empathy, compassion and tenderness towards animals. This is my go to vet for anything I need in regards to my cat. My furbaby is doing very well thanks to this vet.

Would not recommend to any pet parents. They care more for selling you unnecessary medication and food then the well being of your pet. I was never given any diagnosis for my pup, after over 3 visits, but was told that he needed various medications, which in the end just made him so much more worse. They also decided that he would be getting his vaccinations on our visit, but afterwards once I noticed he was NOT ok and gave them a call back they said - he shouldn't have gotten his vaccinations because he is not feeling well and that they would be closing in 5 minutes so they could not help me. Not once have I ever gotten the chance to speak to the actual doc. He also doesn't seem to know what he's doing. It took him over an hour to check my puppies baby teeth, and even afterwards suggested bringing him in another time for another exam with sedation added so he can take a look. Ive been to Mitchell animal hospital, the doc took less than 10 minutes to take a look at his teeth. They also don't push medication on you if they don't believe it is necessary.

My dog was in need of urgent care at 6pm at night. Our regular vet was closed so I started calling alternatives. Highland Road was able to fit us in when everyone I called turned us away. My dog was very well taken care of by this lovely and caring staff. Thank you ????

Amazing staff, great prices, have both our pups as patients at this pet hospital. Our pups love coming here, cause they get lots of love and affection from the staff, and they know at some point they get a special treat. The prices are very affordable, and they try to make it so if it can be cheaper on your part they attempt to do so. They even have some special packages that help save you money! I have been to a few places now, and was so hard to afford the vet bills and the amount of single appointments I had to book. Here at highland, they try to combined the appointments where ever they can as it will save you time and money! I would highly recommend them to anyone, as I have been with them since they opened and don't plan on going anywhere else!

Dr was not very nice. Wouldnt speak to me talked through the Vet teck if that's what she was needed a good shower and grooming herself. nobody wore name tags so I cant say who was who. The whole place also needed to be cleaned to.

This veterinarian and his staff are amazing. They are kind, gentle, respectful and they are cost friendly. It is nice to know that there are people out there who are truly trying to help animals and not just make money. They have neutered my dog, fixed my cat's hematoma and recently fixed my friend's cat urinary problem. Their service is amazing. I highly recommend Highland Road Pet Hospital.

The vet seems to have no idea what he's doing, and seems to be scared of my dog. My dogs had an ear infection for months and he still doesn't have any answers as to why, or how to fix it. This place is a waste of money and time. Go else where

I took my beautiful 1 and a half year old boy named Belly in for blood in his urine and the woman at the front and the veterinarian were very knowledgeable and respectful. They were very gentle and sweet with my little guy and I felt like they really cared about him and wanted to help. I explained I was on a tight budget so I was given a list of possible things that we could do, and they helped me choose the best ones for Belly. He's still recovering but I have faith that he will get better, and I know if I need to take him back for this issue, or any other, that I can trust Highland Road Pet Hospital to help. They are very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and their services are very reasonably priced. Thank you for helping Belly!

He just wants a quick buck and to push food on you. 1000$ last week to him to just get my cat by and now 500$ today to an amazing vet to put my cat down. Please do your research before going here

We took our kitten here when he was in need. They are open later than most vet clinics in the area and the staff were very friendly and accommodating for both myself and my cat. The wait did seem long considering we were the only people in the building for most of our visit, but I do understand that people are busy. I think what we ended up with was a bit expensive and we did end up being sold some Royal Canin food that I think was a bit unnecessary (and expensive) but obviously we want to do what's best for our pets. I will definitely be back for routine check ups and vaccinations.

Our dog ripped a nail at about 630pm on a Friday. There was blood everywhere lol. This vet was our 4th call. Nobody else was open or wouldn't help us, but they did. They immediately told us to come down and they fixed her up. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. Nice to have a vet who doesn't care where you regularly take your dog but just wants to help.

Probably OK for routine vaccine shots. My cat couldn't walk on his hind legs all of a sudden, and the vet had absolutely no idea what could possibly cause this problem. He offered nothing, not even lists of possibilities. Zero. Despite that, he suggested we leave the cat with him for an IV drip. Then he ran some expensive tests/X-rays and gave him Vitamin B12 saying his Vit B level was low . After $500+ worth of tests, he said it was beyond his expertise and I needed to bring him to a university hospital for further testing. We took him to an ER for examination the next day, and found out two possible causes from the symptoms and what our options were. Total waste of money spent at Highland Rd. I am surprised at good reviews. Staff were very friendly; I'll give you that.

Please don’t take your pets here. If money is an issue there are far better options in KW. Do your research, your fur babies depend on you! To start off with I was glad that they managed to fit my cat in immediately when she needed to be seen. My cat did defecate on herself on the way to the clinic which isn’t uncommon. The staff offered paper towels, a sink, a towel and a clean towel for the carrier which was great. There was just one problem - the exam room sink did not appear to have any hot water so I was left to clean my cat up with cold water and paper towels. When we finally saw the vet he performed a rather cursory exam before recommending blood tests which seemed reasonable given the suspected issues. The blood draw was a horrifying and stressful experience for my cat who has had blood draws previously over the years without issue. She is NOT a difficult cat to handle and she is currently somewhat underweight due to her health issues at 4.16 lbs. The vet had TWO people holding her down while he tried repeatedly over the course of 30+ minutes to obtain the blood sample. At one point my cat was wailing in pain and distress which I’ve never heard her do before in the 15 years that I’ve known her. They finally got the blood sample and brought her back into the exam room where I noted two important things - the skin at the scruff of her neck was tented up (a sign of dehydration in cats which in this case is related to her illness - no mention was made of this finding by the vet staff, nor was any treatment offered) AND there was no concern for my cat even when the stress of the whole ordeal caused her to collapse onto the exam table. Unfortunately the clinic doesn’t have an on site lab, so basic test results that I would have had back within 30 minutes at most other clinics had to wait until the next day. The vet staff told me that the vet would call around 10 am the following morning with my cat’s lab results. At 9:55 I called the vet and was told that the vet wasn’t to arrive until 10. At 11:00 I called and was told that the vet hadn’t reviewed the results yet. At 11:45 I finally got the call back that I had been so anxiously waiting for. The tests showed that my cat is in renal failure which I have considerable experience managing considering that the 19 year old cat I lost in December had been a kidney kitty for 11 years. Rather than recommend the standard home management of subcutaneous fluids the vet recommended further diagnostics. Given my cat’s elevated kidney values and slight abnormalities suggesting dehydration (very common in kidney cats) I was very surprised that the vet’s initial recommendations DID NOT include that treatment option. I was the one to suggest that the vet dispense fluids for home administration which is common practice which they were willing to do... At a whopping cost of $50+ tax for a bag of fluids that costs roughly $3 at any human pharmacy that stocks them, an IV line that costs between $7-10 to administer the fluids! I received NO instructions specific to my cat’s fluid requirements AT ALL from the tech OR the vet. I managed to purchase the necessary bag of fluids from another vet clinic for $15+ tax. This vet clinic also doesn’t stock Hills Prescription Diet A/D Urgent Care which is a basic necessity for sick cats and dogs which I was also able to purchase from the other vet clinic. The icing on the cake was the fact that the vet staff had the audacity to attach an estimate for a further $626.42 worth of diagnostics, prescription food and a probiotic that the cat in question refused to touch among other things. Upon further review of the lab results I have noted that the sample was submitted on the day of the exam and the results were returned THE SAME DAY. This means that the treatment that would have allowed her to start feeling better sooner was delayed by a day. This is unacceptable in my eyes. I love my fur babies as most people love their children. Allowing my baby to go without treatment for a second longer than necessary is unacceptable

Took pur new puppy there and the prices were fair and our pup left happy so I know he was treated well. I didnt get to meet vet because of covid but Brooke ( I beleive the vet tech) was very helpful, kind and answered my many questions about our little guy :)

The worst pet hospital ever! It should be banned asap! Doc wouldn’t even see or talk to you. They ask you to buy plans and those plans are worthless as you have to pay even after those “plans” . My cat was sick but the doc kept telling me nothing is wrong and on the third day his assistant told me to take her to the hospital for which they charged me $90 even after the “plan” i paid for. The doc is highly unprofessional. I regret taking my cat there.

I had a very difficult time understanding a word the vet was saying... mumbling and spoke very low so I has to keep asking him to repeat himself. Came in with an emergency and he tried to sell me $150 worth of stuff to send with me to the emergency vet. Luckily I didn't go for it because the emergency vet nixed the use of all of those things. I think I'm going elsewhere from now on. Also it's funny that three of the four positive reviews have no actual person attached to them and sound like advertisements. Hmmm...

We bring our dog here for routine things like vaccinations or to pick up flea medication but anything that requires knowledge or more time we take her elsewhere. The vet acts terribly nervous and cold around animals. He speaks quietly with such a thick accent that I depend on the techs to explain. Also, the vet will push Royal Canin for EVERY PROBLEM. Bladder infection? Royal Canin. Ear infection? Royal Canin. Picking up tick medicine? Royal Canin. He clearly gets a kick back. After dealing with a reoccurring problem and spending a ton on medication, he explained he was out of ideas. Took her to Waterloo West and in one visit they did a skin sample, and prescribed medicine. 9 month problem was resolved in a week. You pay less for the services because you receive lesser quality services.

Vet is afraid of animals. None of the staff greet my dog when we arrive, and without even saying hello to my dog the vet muzzles him. My dog had a spider bite on his paw which made it swell and he was obviously very sensitive and frightened. The vet barely tried to look at it and then prescribed me medication based on me saying it was a spider bite but wasn't actually sure. Paid $150ish for appointment and meds on the hope that they would help. Also a friend of mine was a vet tech here who also said he is afraid of animals and there is a reason he only hires women. I've switched vets.

Not really happy spent close to1000 $ for an ear infection and after being on rediculously expensive medication my dog is not better. Bring her back only for more med. I love my dog but I can't afford his way of treatment. I feel like my dog is a guinea pig. Try this try that. Also vet seemed skiddish around my dog. I went through hell trying to find a reasonable priced place to cremate my previous cat and get my new kitten looked after. The prices are significantly cheaper here than any of the places I drove around getting quotes from. I have come in twice so far over the past week with my dog; once for a routine check up and once for microchipping. Both times the vet techs and the vet worked very well with my dog and were so friendly. The two vet tech girls that were that greeted us right away and worked so well to keep my dog calm the whole time. They suggested certain medications however did not push me to buy it from them.
