All staff were pleasant and professional. We dealt mostly with Emily who was upbeat and efficient. The office was very clean and comfortable. All services were handled according to COVID-19 protocols. The price for veterinary services were comparible to our previous clinic in York Region. Dr. Magyar was knowledgeable and compassionate. The Lab tests were done right on site and results were quick. This clinic came highly recommended to us.

Yesterday was my first time taking my 3 cats to the vet, as I am a student and money can be tight sometimes. There was no judgement by anyone about me not bringing my girls in the past 4 years of me having them. When I was calling around the city to find a vet, just speaking on the phone with the receptionists at this clinic, I knew I was going to take my cats here. The vibe is professional, non judgmental and extremely nice. The ladies at the desk when we arrived were so nice, even cleaning out my cat carrier after my cat had peed in it. The vet (Dr. P) was extremely thorough, answering all my questions and concerns, and being very considerate of me being a student and financial situations. Before doing any big procedures, she quoted us and let us know that nothing will be done without my permission. I will definitely keep coming back here and recommending to others in the region. I had a great experience.

In past experiences I've had too many vets that will suggest the most expensive method, even if it's not completely necessary. As soon as I switched to this veterinary clinic I knew that I would not regret it; the doctor is incredibly nice and reasonable and discussed my options with me, including telling me what was absolutely necessary and what was not fully necessary but still an option. The veterinary assistant nurses are wonderful as well, very informative, and have always made sure to give me a call just to make sure my cats are well after treatment. They go above and beyond. I've never had such an enjoyable experience with veterinary visits. Absolutely AMAZING! I would recommend this clinic to anyone in a heartbeat.

I have been coming to Close Veterinary Clinic for a number of years and thre experience has gotten better exponentially as the years go by. The staff are absolute gems. They are utterly patient and empathetic. Even when you are a nervous wreck about your beloved pet they take their time and assist in any way they can. Dr. Magyar and his team are impeccable. Thorough, dedicated and they go that extra mile. Noone ever really wants to go to the vet but I can honestly say that coming here makes it a little bit easier.

They are absolutely amazing. I brought my dog Lola there because she had a spot under her tongue. Within days we had bloodwork, and biopsy done even during a pandemic. Thank god for them because we caught it in time with no spreading and where able to remove the tumor with partial jaw surgery. Thank you so much!!

I can’t not say enough good things about the Staff at Close Vet. We have been going here for 4 years. We brought or cat to them for a second opinion. And we have never looked backed. Dr. Magyar goes above and beyond. He has taken time out of his day to call us and check up on our dog after her spay. He recently spent 40 minutes talking over the finings of a mass our cat has on her leg. It is a form of cancer. We took her to a specialist and felt a bit overwhelmed with all the information. Dr Magyar personally went thru all our options with my husband and I. I am so grateful for his support during a very difficult time. Hands down one of the best.

I am new to the area and had an issue with my dog as he was not eating. They were so accommodating and able to get me in the same day even though I wasn't a client yet. I really appreciated them squeezing my dog in as I was really worried about him. Dr. Brown is very kind and very informative. They ran some tests on his blood and prescribed some medications. I’ve been very happy with my experiences at Close Veterinary Clinic. I’ve been bringing my Ragdoll kitten, Atticus, to them since I got him two months ago. They have neutered and microchipped him, as well as performed a post-purchase examination. We have been to see Dr. Magyar three times so far. Atticus has suffered from diarrhea since I brought him home from his breeder and they have been excellent with him. Dr. Magyar even called me personally to check in on his health. They are lovely people who truly care. I particularly appreciated their receptionist (I believe her name was Doreen??) who was very knowledgeable and who also trimmed his nails free of charge while she chatted away with me. Very pleased with Close Veterinary Clinic! Keep doing good work!

Dr. Magyar is the most incredible veteranarian and person. What has always stood out about him is that he restablishes your sense of control and confidence when you find yourself scared or unsure about a situation your pet is facing. He provides you with background information on the situation so you understand why it's happening, different treatement options and why certain ones work and others don't. And most importantly he always considers your input and fields all of your questions. Another crucial part of what makes Close Vet Clinic such an amazing place, is the vet technicians. They are absolute naturals with animals, it really is a gift. They have a virtually non existent wait-time at Close Vet Clinic, but the time you do spend in the front office, the ladies always make you and your dog feel like family.

Dr. Close spent a lot of time with us as a new patient on our first visit. He was patient with my nervous pooch, listened to understand the various treatments and issues, discussed and weighed previous vet advice, and offered remedies I could undertake instead of spending a lot of money on costly treatments (that he could provide). He sifted through past vet records, made sense of them and called to discuss. He is caring, empathetic and thorough. The team is helpful, enthusiastic and informative. I highly recommend this vet.

Money hungry and no results compared to other vet clinics. We visited the clinic when our cat was sick, paid for 2 examinations, blood work and medications without even getting a diagnosis and sadly we lost our pet. We did not get any answers or clarity as to what her illness was, just a heavty bill of over 600$. Vet was very cold and dismissive, no communication on cause of sickness (Total opposite of everything Bob Close worked for and built up for). If you value your pet as a family member like we did, I would take your loved ones elsewhere! R. I.P

During the Pandemic over the past year, they take every measure to ensure safety during a visit for both you and your pet. Cost is a big factor with us, and with Close Veterinary Clinic, they don't over-charge, or try to coerce us into unnecessary exams, food or medication. They give you options and provide suggestions. It’s our first time to visit this location. We decided to come here despite that we are a little far from this place cause it has good reviews on Google. It turned out, we actually had a great experience! Especially that we are first time dog owners, they exceeded our expectations. The vet discussed the important things regarding our pup’s health in a detailed manner. The clinic adapted very well to COVID. Taking our puppy without any contact, and everything went really well. Then I called Close, the receptionist was very helpful and answered all my questions before hand and set up my appointment for this week. I went today to get the first set of shots for her and met with the vet Dr Gabor Magyar. Dr Magyar was awesome! He answered my question and gave advise to a couple of things I didn't think to ask. Awful. I took three different pets to this clinic over the course of two years and never experienced knowledgeable or valuable information or care. Brought my cat in with weight loss and sneezing, told the doctor he was outside and had brought home prey. It cost 700$ and over 12 hours to figure out IT WAS WORMS. a 30$ solution. On another occasion I waited for over an hour for our scheduled appointment due to an emergency walk-in, which is fine, but i received no phone call what so ever to tell me about it prior to the appointment and then when I complained I received quite a bit of attitude about it from the receptionist. Switched clinics, much happier now. BEWARE.

We were complete strangers to them and they gave us a great price in order to save our baby’s life. After going through an annual exam and not being able to be seen quickly enough on one occasion, we turned back to Close Veterinary once again. Very dismissive place, will not be returning! Rather than look into the issue on hand they brushed it off saying it wasn’t their mistake and refused to even consider the fact that it could be. After I made multiple calls to get to the bottom of this it turns out the error was in fact with this clinic and they were the only ones that could sort it out. This has apparently only happened this one time in all the years in business so I hope it’s a learning lesson. Listen to your clients and treat them like people. Mistakes happens but the way it was handled was unacceptable.

We went there once before with our cat and the service was amazing. But after the pandamic it changed for the worse. Our cat unknown to us had cancer somewhere in her and it was pushing fluids to her lungs causing respiratory issues. We called Close and stated it was an emergency but they did not care. They gave 2 options the first was to call around- which we dud and the same answer was given NO. The second was to take her to Cambridge late at night. Due to health issuesaroundpnot allowed to drive which meant finding a magical broom that would fly me there or take 3 buses. Given what we had learned she probably would have died trying to get there by buses from the stress. After a long weekend and trying again calling Close to see her for which they still denied the cat help we finally found one that did care and asked us to come right away. Sadly Mistie had to be put down. I could not even take her home for the boys to say good bye she was in distress and close to death. They allowed me to be with her to say good bye and to thank her for bringing joy to our lives. It is so unfortunate that Close did not seem to have the compassion to stay open a bit longer after hours or to somehow had fit her in so she would not had time suffer. Money and paranoid was more important.

I brought Kyle in for a “grooming” stating I did not want my Australian Shepherd to look like a panda bear or red scarred as the groomer elsewhere had done. The receptionist took down very detailed NOs which logically no one would do to a dog. This woman was married to the owner vet. Upon my arrival the female groomer was shying behind her husband. I asked what was wrong. When they brought Kylee out her stomach was scalding red and her fur as short as a Koala’s. I have never ever forgotten the trauma it caused for 10 days of her walking gingerly not jumping up onto the bed because of the burning etc I read these reviews and think in the last two years did this place get sold to a female veterinarian because she sounds awesome but if not…..

I had to bring my mom's dog in on short notice as it was showing signs of pain (laying down, not eating, getting into "preying" position). The vet we generally brought him too was not able to see him in a timely manner. The team at Close Vet Clinic was awesome to work with! They were able to accommodate us right away (although I was told this isn't always possible) and it's clear that they truly care about the welfare of the animals the see. I am happy to recommend Close Vet Clinic to anyone who is looking and am happy to report that Moose is doing just fine :) I will be happy to bring my pets back in the future!

If I could rate a negative , I would. Our dog would be dead if we hadn't taken him to a different clinic. Dr. Close inspected him for about 12 seconds after we brought him in, lethargic and seizuring. Gave him anti-seizure medication after asking "did he have a seizure?". Emergency vet after our dog collapsed 5 hours later did a better job than this. Thankfully, we swore never to see "Dr. Bob" again, and our dog is doing well, recovering from a life-threatening illness he couldn't be bothered to take 2 minutes on. Get out of the business of "helping" animals, please, people and their pets deserve better.

I have been taking my 2 dogs since day one (one dog is now 7 and one is 6 years old). to Close vet and my other dogs before that and I have had nothing but good relations and care for my animals. The vets have always stayed in contact and all the staff is knowledgeable about our family members(our puppies)not only get to know my pets but us also and they bend over backwards to make sure that the pets are always comfortable.. Dr. Close was a decent vet for years. Mind you we did not have any major issues with our dog. There came a time when life just got complicated. Our only source of income was lost and our dog got very ill. I won't go into detail but once I expressed we were having financial difficulties to Dr. Close the game changed. After two days of our loved one being in his care he passed him over to us and said good luck. As we were walking out of the office our baby was projectile vomiting. We went to a vet who did all she could in giving us meds at cost and helping us help our dog. We did end up having to put him down. But with the help of Dr. Mara Gerriets we gave him opportunity to survive. Dr. Close didn't know my dogs name and I believe his interest in my dogs survival diminished once he heard we were in financial crisis. They gave him a shot before handing him over to us at the office and spent more time and effort trying to collect that 20.00 dollars then they did on his life.

First off, this has been our vet for over half a decade. Once the elderly doctor retired (whom I belive was the original vet there) this place has never been the same! Dr. Magar is who we have been dealing with since. Although he is kind and friendly, when we needed him most, he proved to be completely unreliable! They were always quick to prescribe and refill medications even when they are not working. Today we call in distress as our small elderly dog is extremely sick (not eating for 2 days, bloody/tary stool, lethargic etc.) and when we called to try and book her in, assuming they would work something out to bring her in immediately, we got told sorry we are overbooked. They even had the nerve to tell us to try a different vet if we can't wait. Well, we will be trying a different vet and never returning here. My dog is suffering and in pain and they just shut us out! We are beyond upset and even the new vet we called to book her in was shocked and apologetic on Close Vets behalf who didn't care for our dog. It's nice to know when our beloved family members (our pets) may require a quick/emergency check up that our vet for over 7 years will not take the time to squeeze a very sick dog in! The other vet we called, also overly booked, booked us an appointment within the hour due to the dogs circumstances (pain and discomfort). We used to really trust Close Vet but after this incident of lack of care towards our pup, we will never again! I'd suggest you think twice about this place if they don't see our dear pets when they need it most! Absolutely disgusted at what happened this morning!

When I moved to Kitchener 2 years ago I heard from many people with various pets that they recommend Close Veterinary Clinic because they were the best. Going in for regular check ups and obtaining the various preventive items every pro-active dog owner needs was always done with ease and friendliness at a very reasonable cost. So, I was always pleased with the service my dog & I obtained. But let me define to you why they are the best. My dog had a limp and I simply thought she had outdone herself running up a tree to get a squirrel. However, after a week that limp didn't go away and I would shortly find out that my little pup, who wasn't even 3 and half, had bone cancer. The cancer progressed extremely quick and within those almost 3 months I was shown the most genuine empathy, absolute devotion to finding answers & comforting solutions quickly and my call was never turned away. They showed me the exact sense of urgency that I had in my heart, especially on our final appointment. They are the best because they care about not just your pet but you too. Thank you ever so much Dr. Gabor & ladies.

My cat died due to FIP Dry form. When I took him to the clinic, they ran a series of tests to see what's wrong with him. And he stayed there overnight, in a cage that was right next to other cages in all directions. There were dogs as well. After they ran all the tests, my cat seemed much more lethargic than when I brought him to the clinic. They gave me medications for him and told me they suspect FIP and I should take him home, and that he won't probably make it. The next day I took him to the vet to put him to sleep. It's been several years since he died but I feel like the doctor somehow contributed to the fast development of illness of my cat at that time. It felt like, "I don't care much about your cat, but money. Take this test, and take these medications, and we can't do anything about him.". After the euthanasia I got bills worth total of $1000. I really regret having him stay there overnight, because he was less than a year and very scared, and even has never seen a dog before in his life. I hope that if you're reading this review you wouldn't have your pets in this clinic overnight. Thanks.

They have always been loving to our pets and very helpful in explaining things to us in a field we know nothing about. The vet, Dr. Brown, was amazing. She was great with Charlie. You can tell she really loves the animals. She took time to answer any of my questions without making me feel rushed at all. She even took the time to print me off some material to read about some of my questions. The pricing was also very fair. Overall, i am really happy with my experience and am pleased to say we will be using them as our primary vet.
