You have all the opinions of real people like you who buy the products and services of West Side Veterinary Hospital (Veterinarian) around Kingston territory (Canada).
As of day this firm has a score of 4.6 out of 5 and this rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is practically the highest, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the score is very credible. If many people have bothered to value when they are pleased, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Veterinarian corresponds to the category of Animal hospital.
The staff is nice and very informative. However, it does not say on the website or when you talk with someone that you dont get to go inside when they look at your baby. So, I dont like that. No one wants to leave their baby with a stranger. In addition, I had an appointment for 930 but was not seen until 10. If you take down an appointment time the customer and business should honor the time. Time is money. If restaurants can let people in to eat and hospitals can let people in with their "large staff" so can the vet. I won't be going back there. Not going to have people doing things to my dog and me not knowing it. Most vet places. Not all. In addition 1 lady told me 500ish to get an allergy test done, then the second lady told me 1000ish to get the test done, then I spoke with my dad and his vet charged him 300.00. So yeah, I will be going there.
Wonderful people work here. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and Dr. Leonard is one of the best humans I've ever met.
Excellent care!
Best Place for your Beloved Pets! Dr.Kudash on 309 is horrible he killed my Pomeranian after she dislocated her hip giving puppies! He did 5 surgeries on her and put her under so much anesthesia it took her life! So never go there at all if you love your pet's! West side Veterinary Hospital is far by the best in the valley!
I cannot speak highly enough of the entire staff at this vet office. I have a 4 year old cat named Wally that has had a slough of problems (FLUTD and dental issues), and the staff and doctors provide multiple avenues by which to connect with them for questions or concerns. On my last visit, my cat had a routine dental cleaning and one extraction. Despite it POURING rain, the staff member who came out to review his discharge instructions did not rush. She reviewed everything thoroughly through the car window. I also received a follow up call from Dr. Connie a few days later, and was just overall so impressed with the level of service and care for my cat. One thing to note, folks, is that you get what you pay for. Good vets are not always cheap. Pets in general, are not cheap. It seems that WVH really does try to mitigate cost as much as they can without sacrificing the long term needs of your pet. I feel that the value I received for the money I paid was exceptional. So happy to have found this place, and a huge thank you to the team for always taking the time to educate and show compassion!
Dr. Leonard and his team here are amazing. They are kind, clean, and patient. Our pup has had multiple surgeries to remove reoccurring tumors, and we trust the staff here to do the best job. The thing I appreciate the most is that they're transparent and sensitive to one's budget. They understand that vet care can be costly and take the time to give a quote so I can prepare for the expense.
If Dr. Leonard cared about my pet, he would see him in 30 days after his surgery. He collected the money and ran. Be careful because if you get a written estimate from this snake in the grass, he will make your appointment over 30 days so he can charge you more. You don't even think read the fine print and calculate the number of days when it expires. I was more worried about my pet. All of his estimates expire in 30 days. He purposely will make your appointment over 30 days, so he can charge you more. Be careful because Dr. Leonard is very sneaky. If he had any integrity or morality, he would have made my estimate good until my dog had his surgery. WHAT IS THE POINT OF GIVING SOMEONE AN ESTIMATE IF YOU CAN'T EVEN USE IT?? Kind of defeats the purpose of giving someone an estimate doesn't it?? Then when I pointed this out to him, he told me I was being discharged. The guy is a low-life. He is denying my pet service for absolutely no reason. I didn't say anything wrong. I didn't do anything wrong. I asked him if he could re-imburse me the over charge, or I would dispute the charge. I didn't threaten him. He can use the word threat, to make people wonder what i said to try to make me look bad, but that's what i said. Anyone who was given an estimate of 1,000 then charged 1,500 would feel the same way. & he told me at first, there was no need to do the chest x-ray. As far as the other charges for anesthesia, he should have told me they could have been a possibility then. He gave me an estimate and stated in Drs notes that the estimate was "worse case scenerio." Well isn't worse case scenerio, worse case scenerio?? Dr. Leonard is a liar. He is conniving. If you have money to pay him then everything's fine and dandy, but for people struggling to make ends meet like myself, you expect the estimate to fit into your budget. Then you get the bill and it's 50% more. Then Dr. Leonard tried to con me and say when you go to a mechanic, the bill can be more than the estimate. No, actually the mechanic I go to is reputable. If he gives me an estimate, he charges what the estimate says. The worst part about this is the way Dr. Leonard turned his back on me and my baby Cuddles, for literally no apparent reason. He's a good faker, but really he has no care and compassion. The bottom line is that if he did care, he wouldn't have turned his back on us.
While the customer service is great, the pricing is outrageous. This vet is charging 300% our previous but is much closer. Quotes for upcoming appointments are always short and have to pay on the spot every time, even with a prior deposit for more that the quoted price. Next appointment will be our last here.
My parrots have been seeing Dr. Leonard for somewhere close to 10 years now. He has always been wonderful and caring to my Sir William, and then every time I rescued another parrot, Dr. Leonard helped us with them, too. He gives appropriate advice in a way you can understand. He even got my one parrot in to see a specialist as Cornell University when she was really ill. Because of Dr. Leonard, my parrots have been eating healthier, too because he helped give tips and advice on converting their terrible diet to a better one (because all my rescued birds have bad eating habits). During Covid, all the staff and vets handled the situation better than I've seen other places handle it! I am sorry to see such awful reviews from some people. I guess you can't please everyone but I am very picky about anyone who touches my birds, and I have no problem with the staff at West Side Vet.
I can understand why the wait list is so long to get in here. Dr. Leonard and the whole staff treated our Budgies like family/flock. He explained everything he needed to do, what was making several of my sweet babies sick and how to best treat them. I'm so happy we found this clinic and highly recommend them to anyone with feathered or furry family. 11/18 Back again, now that we are established patients they fit us in within days for a concerned Budgie Mama and once again put my mind at ease and took care of my sweet Bella Felle as if she was one of their own. Thank you all for keeping our flock healthy and happy ????????????
I've seen a lot of horror stories from people who took their rabbits to vets who weren't considered "rabbit savvy" but this place is great and Dr Leonard is a pro, only rabbit savvy vet in the area as far as I know and the rabbit parents in the area are lucky to have him.
The staff is amazing, they saw my big baby a handful of times a each time they treated him like their own. The last appt I had was the HARDEST THING I've had to do. I put him down recently because he bit a child and even though I regret my decision they made the whole process smoother for me
We take our two dogs to West Side to see Dr. Leonard. We love it there and travel from Clarks Summit because of the state of the art facility and knowledgeable doctors. Dr. Leonard is compassionate. We have recommended him to our friends, all of which had wonderful experiences bringing their dogs, rabbits, and cats there!
Can't get an appointment for months!!! It says hospital but it's sad that it's not!!!
I found a dog on my block I called the vet and I waited a hour. Then I drop off the dog at the vet because it was close to my place. The receptionist asked of I can stay and wait for a hour that I have stuff to do. I told her I can't can you take him. She walked away saying way people think there entitled to do whatever they want to. I told the other lady I'm don't appreciate how I was how you treat myself the receptionist must of lied and said I said something else. At less I did the right thing. Next time I found a dog with a tag says west side veterinary hospital I'm calling the animal shelter to take them .
They got our Sundar in when no one else would...and then they were caring and you could tell they truly care about their patients! Can't thank em enough for all the help we're getting from them!! Plus they practice safe protocols when it comes to Covid and the 'pet parents' safety.
I have been taking my animals to West Side for about a year now. I am very happy with their services and commitment to my animals. Their prices are fair and Dr. Leonard is very conscientious and easy to talk to. It's easy to see that the staff truly cares about their patients. Hats off to them for all of the hard work they do that was made infinitely harder during the pandemic.
First visit with my senior cat. Kind and compassionate staff, clean environment. Dr. Yaple explained her reasoning behind her orders, and she didn't order unnecessary tests to pad the bill!! Much appreciated. Will definitely return with this per and our other cats ☺️
Thorough and quickly seen. I never have any complaints about this vet.
Have been going here for 10 years with my cats. Very caring staff and Dr.'s. Very knowledgable.
They have been our vet for a very long time. They are the best.
Dr. Yapel does a wonderful job with my babies. In fact, everyone I came in contact with, was so kind and caring. Thank you all for treating my babies like your very own.
Dr. Sankey has been my veterinarian for years, and he and the staff at WSVH are fabulous. They’re very helpful and have been incredibly supportive as I started doing rescue work. I’ve had multiple dogs with mystery diagnoses come in and Dr. Sankey quickly diagnosed them and treated their illnesses—some of which had gone undiagnosed for years before he saw them. Perhaps the most important part is their compassion. The staff has assisted with end-of-life care and that eventual crossing of the rainbow bridge many times, and you can tell they really care about each animal as if it were their own.
Worst place to bring you dog very rude an unprofessional
This is my first pet so I was nervous but they are so good with my puppy Peanut. They answered all my questions and put me at ease. Would recommend to anyone!!
Very professional. Clean. Pleasant staff
I have been taking my dogs to West Side Animal Hospital for years, starting with Dr Ruben years ago behind the Luzerne County courthouse. With the recent change in ownership, I was concerned the quality of care would change. It has not! Recently , my dog suddenly developed an issue while traveling in my car & I drove directly to the hospital. The staff handled his issue promptly & professionally by fitting him into s busy schedule. Great service & I appreciated it greatly.
Very caring veterinarians who know their way around many problems. Also they're very concerned with getting new appointments in for important visits! Got my pup in for a brand new patient appointment with a very nice welcoming testing package for a great price too!
If my dog is sick they are usually able to stick him in their schedule for the same day. Dr. Sankey is a wonderful vet. Very knowledgeable and professional.
Love Dr. Leonard.
Everyone is always amazing! Thanks for all your help today!! Just adding to my review..... Although I miss Dr. Rubin, Dr. Connie is soooooo nice and all the fur babies seem to like and trust her. She's a wonderful asset to the team! :)
Dr. Connie is rude and under qualified. Her lack of experience lead to ineffective treatment for my pet. She had no problem running the tab for this medication and that medication, which was deemed unnecessary by a different vet. Not sure if she just wanted $ for the practice or if she truly was mistaken, but $2,000.00 later, my pet was still just as sick. New vet solved the problem for under $200.00 !!!
The best vet service for pocket pets!! Dr. Leonard and clinic staff are kind and very professional. His knowledge is far above the rest. My guinea pig is thriving thanks to Dr. Leonard. He explains all of his diagnoses and treatments. Wonderful experience.
Dr Leonard and the entire WSV team are second to none! They are diligent in the care they provide, knowledgeable and extremely kind and compassionate. They are responsive to questions (no matter how big or small) and action oriented - guiding you to make the right decisions for your pets and personal situation. We love West Side Vet and our dog, Ashton, does too!
I can not express how great Dr. Leonard and the staff at West Side Veterinary Hospital is to our pets. They have helped keep our pets healthy and are always there to answer questions!
Dr Sankey is the best
Dr. Leonard is the most responsive and available vet I’ve ever encountered. My cat needed dental surgery and he has been very informative and reassuring. He was recommended to me by a friend who also had a cat who needed dental surgery and he was willing to take me on as a new patient during our pandemic which I appreciate. He also is amazing at following up personally on his patients. I’ve spent more time on the phone with him than any other vet and I never feel like he is rushing me. He deals with my crazy cat mom worries very well. He and the staff he works with seem very genuine and caring. The prices are also very reasonable compared to other vets I’ve had. If you need anything dental I’d recommend him. I wish he was closer to me but he’s worth the drive!
I took my friends cat there. I have no idea.
We have been clients since 1985. Great care for all our pets. Highly recommend.
Positive experiences so far.
The most educated, kind, understanding and compassionate staff I have ever experienced. Dr Leonard knew immediately what was wrong with my bunny and helped me make the best choice for her. So thankful for these people!
Excellent veterinary service. The front desk associates are so friendly and professional. The vets are all excellent and very knowledgeable. They are often busy, but always do their best to get you in. Returning customer forever with my animals and animals from a pet store I work at. 10/10!
Even during this pandemic, West Side Vet has come up with a process, so our pets can still be seen and cared for. The entire Team, especially Dr. Leonard, are kind, considerate, caring, professional, friendly...the list goes on and on; I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you, Dr. Leonard and Team, for taking such good care of us and our pets!
Our first visit and found it very pleasant. The tech Brian was very good and Dr Yaple is very thorough . Thanks to all at WSV.
Dr. Leonard is incredible! I was very wary at first with having my rabbits neutered due to complications at my previous veterinarian, but after their first check up with him, I felt, and still feel, so confident about having them seen by him. He answered all my questions, all my concerns, gave me plenty more information to work from, and made the experience enjoyable. When the time came to have the boys in for the neuter, I handed them off knowing they were in very capable hands. My boys are home with me now, healthy and happy and I’m so glad I chose to go to Dr. Leonard.
Dr. Connie was very thorough, compassionate, and helpful. We'd highly recommend seeing her as well as the other two veterinarians we've had experience with at WSVH. They're all amazing there!
We had the best experience yesterday with my cat. I had tried to get him in to my current vet and the emergency vet but emergency vet wouldn’t see him and the earliest appointment I could get was a month away with my current vet. I called around in a panic because my cat was in pain and not eating, I spoke to Westside and the person who answered the phone heard me. She was extremely kind and compassionate and put me on hold to speak with Dr. Ritz who then saw Maxx the following day. Everyone we dealt with was very patient and took the time to put my pet at ease before beginning the exam. I am so grateful for the care we received and treatment plan moving forward. I highly recommend.
I want to change the stars to 10 & the word good to fabulous. We have been taking our dogs there for many, many years. We recently had our oldest dog there (who will be 17 in 2 weeks) for his dental. It transformed him into a puppy. Our other dogs will be having the dental soon as well. Being in healthcare myself, I have seen how dedicated they are to the profession and how extremely hard they work. Our dog was checked out thoroughly prior to the procedure. Dr Leonard called himself to explain the bloodwork. He is an excellent diagnostician, which is very rare these days. We are very fortunate to have someone so caring, dedicated & intelligent in our area. They have the most dedicated staff. Wish they took on human clients.
The. Staff is very good. The vet is quite good. He follows up on patients.
I cannot say enough about the staff at West Side! Extremely loving and caring with our pets and reasonably priced. Dr Sankey and Dr Leonard are amazing. Very smart and very thorough. I had my dog at an emergency clinic recently late at night and my only options were euthanizing or THOUSANDS of dollars to (maybe) save my dog. I, very scared, signed an AMA agreement and brought my dog home that night. I took her to west side the next day to see her normal vet and they quickly gave her xrays and performed a few tests. They then supplied me with a few medications, the vet talked to us face to face and did not make us feel rushed by any means, even though the staff was so overwhelmed that day. They saved my dogs life that day, when the ER clinic wanted to basically just kill my dog. They care. They understand these pets are our babies! I would never recommend anywhere or anyone else! Thank you to the entire staff for all of your constant hard work and professionalism!!!
Prior to his retirement, Dr Rubin had cared for our pets for over 30 years. We have had many, many pets in his care, as well as the incredible staff at the West Side Vet Hospital. We now have entrusted our pets’ care to Dr Leonard, and have no doubt they will continue to receive the same level of care and compassion that we have been fortunate enough to receive in the past. I won’t say that the transition was seamless. There was some miscommunication that transpired regarding the care of our older cat Daisy, but Dr Leonard openly communicated with us about our concerns, and put our pet’s health first, which is what truly matters. We know all our pets are receiving the best care possible at West Side, and are grateful to Dr Leonard and his staff for all that they do.
Louie is the best Vet. Tech. ever!
Dr. Leonard is the vet for all three of our dogs. He is very thorough in his examinations and takes time to explain all aspects of their care. I like the fact that there are currently four vets associated with the practice that can cover in case of emergency.
Dr. Yaple is so amazing! Thank you for always taking such good care of our Taffy!!!
As always, Dr Leonard was very kind and patient with my sweet Gracie. She is so timid. It was pouring rain and I told the tech that they didn’t have to put her raincoat back on after her checkup. Not surprised when the tech told me that Dr Leonard put her raincoat back on himself. I could go on and on. Never a less than stellar experience. Thank you all
We were referred there because Dr. Leonard also specializes in small pets and we wanted to have our pet rabbit checked out and have a consult for her to be spayed. The staff has always been very accommodating and they have handled things so well during Covid. Would definitely recommend.
I was helping my neighbor find a Veterinary Clinic because her dog wasn't acting normal and hasn't been eating, and her Vet's office was booked with appts for the day. The lady at the clinic said that the dog should be taken to an emergency hospital where they have the necessary equipment to help access and treat the dog. The lady referred us to the emergency clinic in Allentown. We took the dog to that place and waited four hours for a Dr. to examine the dog. When we got tired of waiting we told the office technician that we want the dog back and going home. An xray was taken which was inconclusive. My friend said that she would take her dog to her Vet in the morning if the dog was still in distress. I want to thank the lady at West Side Veterinary Clinic for taking the time to help us in our time of need. She really cares about animals and has a good heart. May God bless her.
The ability to text them questions is awesome. Quick responses too
Dr. Leonard is a very caring and compassionate veterinarian he treats our 2 cats as he would treat his own. Support staff is great also.
