This is a great vet clinic, full of people who honestly care about animals and their humans. They cared for my grumpy old kitty with humour and compassion, from the time I moved nearby when he was 9, to when I had to say goodbye 7.5 years later. From simple checkups and claw trimmings to heartbreaking decisions and final moments, I was given honest information and support through it all. When it's time for me to get a new little companion, I won't hesitate to bring them to Pickering Animal Hospital.

My experience with this hospital was about 5years ago... I took my dog, hooded rats and cats there.. and i had to unfortunately put my baby(dog) down... He had been there before and the staff was great with him!! When it came time to put him down... The staff let me stay with my baby from beginning to the end and let me stay with my boy until I was ready to leave...they didn't rush me or anything... I'm not sure how long I was in the room for but they were extremely patient with the loss I just had...when the staff had called me to pick up his ashes they gave me a note and it there they had gotten his paw prints for me... The staff there were very sweet and compassionate. Thank you

I spoke with the receptionist and the vet. Explained I was not working, said I'd be paying with my rent money and grocery money. They still said to take xrays. After a short woke they came back and told me that they couldn't really see much other than a few abnomalitays and that there maybe some fluid in the lungss but they said tjey woukd give him some pills. They sent me home and within an hour or so of watching the dog he got worse and just fell over and died. Of course I called the vet back and they asked me to bring the dog by so they can see him. After a few short mins they confirm the dog is indeed dead. They have the odasatiy to try and milk more money out of me. Zero compassion. I spent every cent I had there and they try and milk more out if me. I've brought all my pets there for checkups and this is the last time I'll be going there. They have seriously struck a nerve with me and my family.

I was with these vets for 15 years. They are great and really care about their patients. I remember when we had to put our two bagels down the vet sat on the floor with us and cried with us. It shows how much they become attached and care about them.

The vets are great, no issues with them. The girl that works the desk, Leslie, is a complete and utter moron. Zero personal skills. I had to have my cat put down. I had her for ten years and she became very sick. Very emotional moment for us and the vet. When leaving Leslie says in a very sarcastic voice "Have a nice day " Just an idiot. My wife was very upset. It's bad enough we had to have her kitty put down and then to hear what that idiot said. Very unprofessional. Almost makes me want to take my animals elsewhere. The vets are absolutely great. We have been going there now for at least 14 years.

Having years of vast experiences with vets we have to rate Pickering Animal Hospital A+++. We were extremely impressed with the care received by all of the staff at Pickering Animal Hospital. As a new client they squeezed us in for emergency visits, followed up to ensure that our dog was doing well and were very supportive when we had to put our dog to sleep. It's wonderful to know that some people are in the business for the right reasons and not just after the money.

Our experience today at Pickering Animal Hospital was completely unacceptable to say the least. Take our 8 year old dog in this morning due to sudden health concerns. They insist on x-rays and of course we want our dog to get better so off they take him for half an hour. Come back with a response of "I don't know exactly what it is but here are a few possibilities" and off we are sent with the x-rays and some water pills. Not even two hours later our dog sadly passes away, we contact the vet and bring him in to confirm that he has indeed passed, now of course considering the shock my family is currently in, maybe don't start asking for money to bury him when we just gave you all we had for x-rays with no answer. No compassion and no empathy. We took our dog home and called the city, the lady who came was wonderful, talking to us as a human would and showed us sympathy and treated our dog as her own. Pickering Animal Hospital please learn that not everything is about money immediately. I get that you are a business and need to make your money but maybe offer some options to people who aren't as financially secure as some, and sometimes compassion goes a long way.

Real animals lovers. You can tell they do this from the heart. Have taken all my pets here since the 1990s. If you think of your pets like your own children, the doctors/nurses here are like pediatricians. The vet has done follow up calls to our house, asking how my pets were responding to their meds and even answered my questions (we had at least a 10 minute conversation) on the phone!!

Out of respect for our dog Rosie, who has just passed, our family decided to write this. She is a golden retriever who started loosing weight a couple of years ago. I expressed alarm to vets at this clinic, and was told to be more vigilant feeding her. Was actually told, "it is not very often we have to tell pet owners to feed their dogs more." So, I started pushing dog foods and calories to my two adult goldens. We deal with a different clinic now, and our new and trusted veteranarian quickly diagnosed our too thin retriever with an abdominal tumor the size of a baseball, no doubt explaining the weight loss. And our second dog with being very overweight from overfeeding. Rosie died a few short months after her proper diagnosis and palliative. Please consider all possible causes before laying blame on pet owners. Cheryl and family

The vets and staff here are the nicest and so dedicated to the care of your pets. They truly evaluate the concerns you and your family pets may have, and try to resolve the issues without it becoming unnecessarily costly. They have a busy practice, but we have never felt rushed at any appointment. There are follow up phone calls from them to see if treatment is working, with well pointed inquiries. And for those who are in the unfortunate position of having to say goodbye to your beloved family pet, I can say for certain that they provide absolute compassionate care and service.

I have been to many vets in my life with all my animals. My groomer recommended Pickering animal hospital, so I took my Dog there, which I have been taking her for a few years now. I have always thought they were amazing. But I need to express my feelings with my recent visits. My 12 year old Sheltie ended up with some kind of nasal infection. I took her to see Susan and I have never seen a doctor get on the floor to make her feel comfortable. After a thorough exam she gave her some meds. To my surprise she called to see how she was. Two weeks later my little girl got extremely sick. I went back and Melissa was in. She was shocked at how sick she looked. She had tears in her eyes with me. Melissa was very honest with me and puzzled at the same time. She did some test and we are waiting on results. Words can’t express how extremely loving these ladies are, and how much they care. I had to take my rabbit to Pickering Animal Hospital. I met with Dr. Cogswell. I was extremely impressed with her knowledge of rabbits and she explained his condition and treatment, she gave me options and I did not feel pressured in my decision. Dr. Cogswell scheduled surgery the following week for my rabbit to be neutered as he had a tumor growing. Dr. Cogswell booked Dr. Mc Millen to help her with the surgery to eliminate surgery time so my rabbit would not be under anesthetic for a long period of time as this can be stressful for rabbits.Dr. Cogswell phoned me after his surgery, I have also received follow up phones calls each day from staff. I would highly recommend Pickering Animal Hospital.

Our chocolate lab Archie had a 3 lb lipoma removed by Dr Cogswell about a month ago...record breaker for the hospital. We dropped by their clinic pretty well every day for 2 weeks to have wound tended and drained. The staff were very attentive and the care received was excellent. My 13 year old chihuahua got diagnosed with canine cognitive disorder, he was wetting his bed multiple times a day, pacing constanly, barking (more than usual), and was overall just going downhill behavior wise. Thanks to the amazing vets at the pickering animal hospital (Dr Cogswell, Dr McMillen, Dr Smith, and Dr Monaghan), a simple diet change to a veterinary certified food (Brain Diet) and some daily meds, I was able to get my little man back ! He is no longer wetting his bed, he's running around the house again, and barking with joy! Thank you for treating my dog as though he is yours, I can't thank you enough for all your help and giving Chico the best next few years ❤ Highly recommend this clinic, I was always presented with options that worked around my budget and was never pressured or made to feel guilty if there was something I could not afford.
