We went to kingston west veterinary clinic the first time on December 24 2016. Not exactly the plans we had for Christmas eve, but Dr. Shephard and his staff made our visit very pleasant and took great care of our two cats, Dusty and Percy. The care did not stop when we left the clinic, Dr. Shephard emailed me a few times to check on the recovery of our new kitten. Dr. Shephard and his staff showed great care and concern. The office is very clean and comfortable with a great water front. Thank you for seeing us on short notice and a holiday. Dr. Mark DeWolde was my saving grace and has truly been a saint to my dog Duke. Duke had badly injured himself and was not putting any weight on his front right leg. I brought Duke in after being told by a previous animal hospital I had two options, pay $5,500 for a surgery or put him down. Needless to say I was beyond upset and looking for a second opinion. Mark spent an hour and a half with me the first visit and throughly went over the different possible surgeries (if need be) and our options. He explained that he would need to perform some x-rays (ones that the other hospital should have done and didnt) and once the x-rays were done he would send them to a surgeon who would also give his expert opinion on Duke's injury. When the office called to set up the appointment for his x-rays they also informed me that they do monthly payment plans to help with the overall cost, something I have NEVER heard of any vet doing. A couple days later and after the x-rays had been done, Mark informed me he believed Duke did not need surgery but was waiting to confirm this with the surgeon. The next day I took Duke in to see Mark again and was told the amazing news that he did not in fact need surgery and the surgeon also said to remove the splint he was currently in! From the very first consultation with Dr.Clarke to getting the amazing news from Dr. DeWolde this hospital treated us like we were top priority! I left each and every time with tears in my eyes from their kindness and generosity. I have absolutely found my dogs new vet and I'll be recommending them with raving reviews to anyone who asks! Thank you Mark and your amazing team for literally saving my dogs life, if it wasnt for you we would have been pushed into a corner by the other hospital and made the biggest mistake and regret of our lives. I truly can not express my gratitude enough!

We brought my sons pup in having seizures. They were kind, caring, compassionate & professional dealing with her, as well as my 19 yr old son who was very scared for his pup. End result we had to put her down but they were very kind in explaining everything including how she would go. They allowed us time to be with her until my son was ready and allowed us to stay with her as long as we wanted afterwards. They even lit a candle on the main desk saying "someone is saying goodbye to their loved one" I thought it was very touching. They explained cremation and took good care of Alaska from the moment my son carried her in the door! I will never bring my puppers to any other place. Thank you gals! From the bottom of my heart. RIP Alaska, you are loved!

My dog found a porcupine in the woods on the Easter long weekend, during the covona virus lockdown. I Called the Kingston West clinic, expecting to be told that I would have to go to the Emergency clinic. But they rose to the challenge and were able, within a couple of hours to sedate the hound and extract the quills, even though it was well after hours I was treated courteously and professionally and am thrilled with KINGSTON West as a result. Honestly it was perfect. I originally called Pet Smart to ask for a recommendation because there's alot more vets to choose from and when Hanna ( from pet smart) advised me to connect the Kingston West Vet . She was happy to inform me that it's a well rounded place. The clinic doesn't take advantage of your feelings when it comes to the price... which I've had terrible experience in the past. So that was very comforting. She explained all staff there seem to love their job more for the animals than for the pay cheque. After all the positive feed back I called the vet office and I talked to a very lovely girl who registered Rosco immediately and I got an appointment within 24 hours of calling. Morgan greeted Rosco and I and she seemed very nice and energetic. She seemed to have gained Rosco's trust instantly... which is hard to do with that little guy. Julie was very good at explaining the problem found and she explained how it can be treated. She was so genuine and answered all my questions and concerns. I however feel for Morgan when she explained Rosco wasn't on his best behavior and a muzzle needed to be used. He's not the easiest pupper-doodle when he's not feeling good. Other than that I could ask for anything more perfect for my first time being at this vet clinic. Without a doubt this will be Rosco's forever vet. Thank you to everyone.

The staff is excellent. They provide great services but not everyone can afford a 1500 dental surgery. Maybe you all should consider giving your clients, which you are nothing without, the option to pay in installments. To protect your company you could do a direct payment option that would authorize a payment taken directly from the bank account so there is no risk of missing a payment. You need to be more flexible and accommodate your clients needs better.

Our dog suddenly couldn't walk at all. It was the Easter long weekend and no one was open the Friday. Even though we hadn't previously been a patient of Kingston West, they were open on the Saturday and fit us in. Now I know, something to consider when choosing a vet is if they are open on the weekend in case of emergency. They were very kind and we deeply appreciate it! Thank you!

We were recommended to Kingston West by a friend when our last veterinarian moved. They were nice when we called, but I quickly found that when we needed them they were not there for us. Our poodle had been having on-going problems and we took her in for bloodwork. I was quoted around $150. When I got the bill it was over $500. She was put on medication for her pancreas. They said if she gets worst to call and come back in. Within 4 days she detererated to the point of needing to be euthanized. This was on a Sunday. We could not get through on their emergency line. When we called Monday morning we were told that there were no vets working that day and they could not help us. She died that same day. Would not go back. Also the hospital was bought out by a corporation and as a result there is no longer the personalized service you see with owner owned clinics.

Always ready to answer a question about your furbabies, my male rescue just had a neuter done, they strove to make it anxiety free for him, as he has past trauma issues. They take the time to work with your pets needs and personality, to make it as low stress as possible. Our little pretty girl was also spayed at the Bath location, and last summer they removed a couple ticks on different occasions from her, no charge.

Accommodated an emergency when one of our cats contracted pancreatitis. They fully explained all tests and treatment options and were clear about the costs of each. They called me more than once following through on the effectiveness of the treatment administered. The staff were universally attentive and friendly and the free coffee and tea was very welcome during our wait for Test results and treatment. I was very impressed.

Super first visit and great new location. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff and veterinarians. Incredibly helpful and compassionate staff, especially with a very nervous/aggressive cat that doesn't like to go to the clinic. Very clean, modern building that is spacious and very accessible. Beautifully located on the water and very convenient to get to-no major rush to turn into busy parking lots etc. Lots of good retail products and foods and staff are eager to help with ordering in anything you would need. Prices are super competitive and lower than some other local clinics. We will definitely be back!

I had a very sad emergency situation where I unfortunately had to have my senior cat put to sleep. It was after regular hours and I was quite emotionally distraught. This vet took me in last minute, treated me and my baby with the upmost respect through the whole process. I had never been there before, but they treated us like family. A week afterwards I received a beautiful handwritten sympathy card signed by the whole staff. They made a very sad situation just a little bit more manageable. I am actually planning to switch to this clinic for all my pets moving forward.

Great service. Lovely Vets. Unfortunately when it comes to follow up calls, absolutely terrible. I don’t know if it’s a staffing problem but I had to redo shots because I never got a follow up phone call about when to schedule the next set. I did get my next shots complimentary. When my dog got sick, once again there was no follow up on how they were faring after the fact, which is something they said they would do. Never happened. I like the staff and vets but I’m not too impressed by the admin.

We came to you December 9/19 to have our beloved Behr euthanized... the vet tech helped us get him out of the car and into the exam room, had the room prepared with a blanket for him to lay on, and spoiled him with treats! The staff was very empathetic and truly made the experience more bearable. We also took our two pups Obi and Evie in earlier this month and once again was given exemplary service by your staff!!! I really don't think the experience could have been made better!!! -unless vetting was free! But seriously, even the cost of services was much lower than I had expected... Horrible experience. Thankfully very brief. It was quickly very clear to us on the few visits we ever had with Dr. Mark De Wolde and meeting him that he does not support anyone that has alternative views from his own. This guy is the president of a pharmaceutical company for pet medications, so there was no surprise his push with us was going to be prescription dog food and unnecessary medications. Red Flag #1. The constant automated emails we received pushing medications and unnecessary vet visits to dog owners with healthy pets like ourselves was disturbing to say the least. Not a relationship I want to ever have with a veterinarian or any doctor. Pharma in the pet industry is what this guy is all about and how he makes his money. It was clear that once he realized he was not going to get money out of us for unnecessary prescription diet food and medications for our dogs, we were disposable. Being new to the Kingston area, I didn't know much about this guy and I am so glad we have found another vet right away. I miss my Ottawa vet so much, but what can you do when you move. Very relieved to have found someone else who is very respectful of our views and super supportive. Dr. De Wolde without warning and with the intention to intimidate us I guess, sent a postman to our door with a letter telling us to find an alternative vet. No warning, no reasoning, no phone call. Completely out of left field. I had a very open, very honest and very respectful conversation with him about nutrition and felt very concerned about commercial and prescription kibble like so many people do. I guess that is what prompted the letter. He wasn’t getting the money out of us like he had maybe hoped. I left that appointment with him more confused than ever and it was the worst experience and waste of time I have ever had with a vet. Because I had shared with him my alternative views on the research I had been doing on diet and nutrition, speaking to other vets, reputable breeders etc. about nutrition and how I wanted to feed my dogs, he chose to intimidate us with a letter. We still don’t know why he couldn’t have just called us to have a conversation, still scratching our heads about that. Very impersonal. They also as a clinic used a photo of our dog on their website without our consent. The worst part about it is that he did not even know the name of my dog or realize that I was the owner of the dog on his website after sending me the letter. Our dog (Cocker spaniel) is also in all of their current advertisements and flyers with a female veterinarian that we don’t even know. He didn’t realize that our dog’s photo was used in all of his advertisements either. The only positive thing I would ever say is that the women at the clinic were kind, but all of our dog records were mismatched with the wrong weights, wrong birth dates and wrong photos and we had to ask that to be corrected on more than a few occasions. Very disorganized. Happy to be moving on. Dodged a bullet with this horrible experience. Don’t be fooled or drawn into the modern and ‘fancy’ look of this clinic either, it is all smoke and mirrors. Find a vet that cares and one that is supportive and respectful of you and your pets. We don't support big Pharma or Big Egos.

First off let me say that this review is LONG overdue! We had to take our German Shepherd, Vader , to be put to rest after a 7 month ordeal with a Tumorous growth in his left upper paw area. We called the Hospital on December 29, 2019 and said it was Emergency, due to Vader deteriorating rapidly the last 3 days of his great life he had with us. The staff stated that they will help us the very next day!! So sad to see the tumor grow larger and larger. One word describes this hospital and staff>> AWESOME!!???? Dr. Lyndsay Clarke helped us to get through this. She is such a compassionate person. We would like to thank Virgil and Elke that assisted during this difficult time. The Card that was signed by all your staff was such a nice thought. And Thank You for making a Donation on behalf of Vader. The lasting Paw print that you did from Vader was so heart felt. The Cremation Service that was recommended to take care of Vader is called Pets Above LTD. This company went the Extra mile with a Beautiful Urn and a Chained Name Tag. Also, a Death Cremation Certificate was provided, as well. And, the staff signed a Sympathy Card as well. We would not hesitate to recommend this Veterinary Hospital to anyone. My family and I researched and interviewed numerous vets in the Kingston area and the second time I called Kingston West Veterinarian Hospital I knew I had to check it out. The staff are so pleasant to talk to and they listened and addressed my questions promptly. They showed the utmost care and compassion with our new puppy. Our appointment was not rushed, the vet tech and the vet took their time to get to know our new addition. I would highly recommend them for all of your pets needs, as they are treated like their own. Dr Courtney is AMAZING! She’s been so good with my baby boy Fibel and SAVED his life ! Fibel my 3 year old cat has kidney stones and it was heartbreaking to hear as he is very young! Very friendly and caring staff. I went to pick up my small dog after her long day there..and they brought her out to me in a blanket which is very comforting to small dogs as they shake a lot. They were considerate enough to do that for her. They also are very good at following up and reminding of up coming appointments.

I have gone to Kingston West Veterinary Hospital 2 times now and both have been amazing experiences. My cat has major anxiety and doesn't do well under stressful circumstances. I knew she might be difficult but my cat reacted worse than I expected. The Vet was fast to determine that it was not safe to administer the vaccines safely. They recommended a drug to help calm her down and rescheduled our visit for the next week. The second visit went so smooth, the doctors and nurses were so great and gentile with my little one and really cared about her health and safety! They made me feel very comfortable and I would highly recommend this vet clinic to anyone!

There is a reason even though we have moved that we drive over an hour to still come to this vet! I tried 2 other ones in the Kingston area when I still lived there and none of them compare. They are always so professional and warm and inviting. In the event of an emergency (like we had this week) they are so accommodating and thorough that helped put us at ease knowing our dog was getting the best care possible. Price wise they are comparable to other vets but not on the high end of pricing which is also really nice.

The owners and staff of this excellent veterinary shop are quite simply the best. Jason and Mark have been our pets’ vets since their early days in Bath, many years ago. Both those docs and all of their staff (without exception), have supervised the health and welfare of our lil guys (cats, dogs, bunnies) for many years now, with absolute dedication. Above and beyond. Yesterday, we asked for help in ending the life of our beloved lil cat. Henry was the beneficiary of the tender and receptive hands and hearts of the attending professionals...Wendy and I got hugs from the doc and staff. We are grateful to have all of y’all in our lives. Henry always purred when Jason was injecting or inserting...and I never hesitated in trusting Lindsay or Jay or any of the folks at the clinic. we bring both of our dogs here and each time we've had to the staff have been very kind and knowledgeable. the vets are great and gentle with our nervous/tricky dogs. prices aren't too bad and they don't really pressure you to do more than what is required.

I can't say enough about the AMAZING staff here. We brought our much loved family pup, Rooney in to be checked as he had growths on his throat. We were seen by Dr. Lyndsay Clarke and Virgil. They were so kind and caring, and were quick to get back to us with his results. We found out that he had lymphoma, and we were provided with the options that were available in a loving and caring manner. We tried to treat it, but unfortunately Rooney deteriorated quickly. Within two weeks we had to make the heart wrenching decision to put him down. We did not know what to expect as this all happened during Covid-19. When we took Rooney to the hospital, we were met by Dr. Lisa Vander Wilp and Virgil. From the very first contact they were both so kind and caring, and we felt like they cared for him just as we did. With the restrictions around Covid we had to wait outside while they prepared him for the procedure, but Dr. Vander Wilp took him in her arms and kissed the top of his head as she walked inside with him, this brought us us such comfort. Once we were able to go in, they had the room ready with a comfy blanket and he came in wagging his tale, as he always did, and went right to the blanket to lay down. During the entire process, Dr. Vander Wilp was so kind, and loving towards Rooney and our family that we felt at peace with what was happening. Never did we feel like we were just another patient, but we felt as though she truly felt our pain and heartbreak. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! Afterwards, we received the loveliest card signed by all the staff along with Rooney's paw prints, this was so thoughtful. This experience is never an easy one, as we adored our Rooney, but the staff was OUTSTANDING. Our family wishes to thank you so very much for everything.

I have been attending Kingston West Vet Clinic for a couple of months now. The staff along with Drs. Clarke & Edwards have been amazing with my 2 cats. Professional, courteous, caring, kind and gracious. I think the most important aspect for me is the interaction and dialogue with the members of the clinic. Both Dr Clarke & Dr Edwards took a great deal of time assessing the health of my animals and then spoke with me in great detail about their conclusions. Those conversations were incredibly easy, clear and informative. Never at any time did I feel rushed or dismissed. The day after our visit, the Drs emailed me with test results, detailed explanations and next steps. They invited me to maintain a dialogue until I was comfortable that all issues were resolved. A couple of days later, I was contacted by a Vet technician inquiring about my pet's condition and offered to answer any further questions that I might have. This is second to none customer service as far as I'm concerned - a definite 5 star +. I am very happy with my decision to attend KWVH and highly recommend that you give them a try. You won't be disappointed.
