This is the only vet in Kingston (that I could find) who refuses to declaw cats. I no longer go there because their rates for normal exams and treatments are too high. They also had my cats on a Science Diet kibble with no canned food for over a year.) My current vet recommended a much healthier kibble and started my cats back on tinned food also.
Dr. Lier and his staff are knowledgeable and always supportive. One of the best vets I have had since having pets. They are very reasonable in their prices.
I used to be a client here...many years ago. In the beginning I loved the clinic. Hugh Wiley was the best vet around. After Hugh's accident, I continued to take my pets there and saw many other vets.. one of those vets was Ken Rutledge (who now owns McEwan). My old bouvier had been diagnosed with bladder cancer by Dr. Ross. This was all confirmed through x-rays etc. I had to take Tosca in for some more x-rays and that involved anesthetic. When I picked my dog up later that day he was lame...he couldn't put one of his front paws down and that was not an issue when I dropped him off. Dr. Rutledge told me that he had arthritis...very common in older dogs. When I said that he didn't have it before we got there he told me that sometimes it can appear very suddenly. I was not impressed, but did take the medication offered to make my boy more comfortable. A few days later he was back at the vet and another x ray (keep in mind I'm being charged for all of this...meds, extra appt. and another x-ray) confirmed that he didn't have arthritis...he had an injury. Dr. Rutledge then admitted that maybe he had fallen off the table when he was coming out of the first anesthetic. I was beyond angry...and I didn't feel that I should have to pay for the meds, 2nd x-ray or vet visits when it was their fault. I tried to contact Ken Ross numerous times to discuss this, but he never once returned my call. I refused to pay...and ultimately they called a collection agency on me. All of this could have been resolved if Dr. Ross had called me back to discuss this. I had been going there for 12 years at this point...with 2 dogs and in total 4 cats. They made a lot of money off me over the years and I would have continued going there if I had been able to express my concerns and work something out with the owner. I was not looking for free treatment...but I didn't feel that I should be charged for something that was caused by their negligence.
Centrally located clinic. I've always found the staff and vets to be very friendly here. They have a good system where they email you of upcoming vaccines/appointments that are due
I have gone to the Kingston Vet Clinic for many years as a client of Dr. Ken Ross who was always wonderful with all my animals. Unfortunately, Dr. Ross has now retired. I recently went in and and saw one of the new vets It was an awful experience to say the least. Very unprofessional, did not know how to handle my pet properly and made the whole experience so stressful and upsetting to both me and my pet (who ended up being sick on the way home as she was so upset by the way they handled her). It was such a heartbreak for me to see the quality of care diminish so greatly at the KVC. I will never go back to KVC and have luckily found a new vet who knows how to care for my animal the way they should.
Lov these guys there such bunch of lovable people ......u got my heart guys ...always
My dog loves it here. Never seen a dog love a vet so much..
My cat accidentally pinched his tail in the door & the tip of it was degloved. When I called to have someone look at him I was told they could not accommodate me so I would need to wait 3hrs & then take him to the emergency vet; even though they were open another 5hrs that day... I waited & took him to the emergency vet as instructed & was quoted $3,000 for the procedure! They said I should see if my regular vet could do the surgery as it would be less expensive & could wait just under a week to take place. I was also told to have my regular vet change his bandage sometime in the next two days. When I called the following day to try & get an appointment to have his bandage changed & see if I could schedule a surgery I was VERY disappointed in their response. I was told there was no way they could change his bandage in the next two days & that there was no time to get him in for surgery. Luckily I was able to take him to another vet clinic who accommodated us & did the surgery with less than 24hrs notice. I get you're busy, but if everytime something unexpected comes up I have to go to the emergency clinic during regular hours what is the point of having a regular vet? The last 3 days have been incredibly stressful for my cat & myself when if I had just been at a different vet clinic it would have been looked at & dealt with the same day.
We have a very difficult cat. Especially when he's at the vet. These folks were professional, caring and attentive. Been using them for years and will continue to do so.
Great staff, all very caring with my past pets and now the boy I'm fostering.
Very rude, and only care about profit not the animals well being. They don't seem knowledgeable when they prescribe several different medications for 1 thing. They say you only need to do 1 check up a year on your animal but want to see them every time you need to refill the prescription so they can gouge you another $80... this is the reason people are not taking their animals to the vet when needed.
They took great care of my kitten when it came to his vaccinations and neuter.
Helped us out with last minute boarding for our cat. Contacted our regular vet directly to get medical records, to help book us in for boarding. Staff were very professional when we dropped off, and the price for boarding was fantastic.
Excellent office, especially Dr. Randall. A great woman, and a terrific veterinarian. Respectful and willing to take the time to explain things to you. Such a sweet person, will go to her every time. She moved from the west-end to an east-end veterinarian office, but she is well-worth the trip! No experience with the vet shop other than a few encounters, so ask for Dr. Randall if possible for a great experience!
They are always really late with their appointments. Boarding my pets there used to be a nightmare. That has gotten better though. Our Vet is very good. So that's why I still go there even though it's all the way across town from me.
thanks for the help
Friendly people who work there. I stop by for pet food every couple of months. Helpful staff when I had issues with a pet as well over the years.
Excellent care
My dog Lucy has been going here for 6 years. We absolutely love the excellent service and caring staff. Would recommend to any pet parent!
I have been taking my dog here for a few years and they are always helpful and understanding. They offer a lot of extra services but they do not force us to do any that we cannot afford. Their hours are also very accommodating.
Friendly, highly experienced vet, excellent petside manner.
I have to say for a 14.5 year old dog.. Molly is a trooper and doing better than before dental surgery. In a bit of pain but doing well. After losing 11 teeth during dental surgery, we know she is feeling better when she barks to play ball with us and barks to go for a walk . Wish we did this a few years ago. Dr. Llera is amazing and so is the rest of the team. We are so happy we did this and wish we did it sooner. If anyone ever questions if they should go ahead with dental surgery on their elderly dog..do it! Do it when they have the first sign of dental disease .
I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Truly exceptional staff (that I dealt with) Zeus and I thank you so much for checking him over today!.
Clean and friendly
They are awesome ????
They don't care about the animals. Just ur money. Good friend of mine was brining his dog there and just kept getting him to bring him in over and over again for same issue and kept the dog on same meds. Meds and check ups were costly. Finally he took my advice brought him elsewhere. To find out his dog could take people allergy pills.
Extremely helpful with all our traveling abroad and the medical papers for the animals, as well as excellent service for all our emergency and regular appointments!
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair prices. Good parking.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
It was hotter than heck and because of covid me and the cats had to wait in the car (A.C. on), but that's none of the clinic's fault. My kitties were in and out quickly and happily.
20 year customer. Always great service, friendly staff who are concerned with and for your pets health.
Very lovely staff and the visit was very quick. They gave me clear explanations and treated my kitties with care ????
Compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective when working with animals. Unfortunately, I do have some negative remarks. They will not work with you on financials, some of the staff are cold and very rude and they need to work on answering their phones as hardly anyone.picks up. All in all one of the top places around for pet care.
Flea treatment
Dr Ross is our trusted vetrinarian. Our French Bulldog has been in his care for 5 years and he is a kind, well informed and compassionate care provider. The staff are friendly, we are very pleased with their services.
They really care about my pets. Don't pressure if I can't afford something. They try and work with me so that my cats get the best treatment possible.
Been using these guys since 2006. The staff are friendly and well trained. Take pride in their job while treating your animals as one of their own
if i could ZERO stars... i would!
Kind, great service. My dog loves it here.
This clinic is amazing and a life saver. Im suprised by negative comments about wait time. Its a unique period in history. Im always so happy and understanding to the new procedure. Always have been amazing with my youngest Alfred who has been in and out with chronic illness since the pandemic started. Made a urgent and expensive surgery financially managable. Ive never in my life had a vet do that. Ive tried a few clinics in kingston and none meadure up. If your looking for a clinic that has amazing staff this is the place to go. bless these folks and thank you!
Once again the staff including front desk, vet techs, assistants and of course the veterinarian docs themselves at Kingston veterinary clinic ( on division st ) have proven that they are still the best choice for me to bring my beloved pet. They are courteous, Informative and thorough. Not to mention obvious lovers of animals and not just academic professionals. I've been a client there as have 2 of my dogs. My late beautiful tanner ( shitz/pomeranian ) who was cared for there for the entire 16 yrs he lived. When he did pass 3 yrs ago ( mar 21 ) the entire clinic went above and beyond to accommodate me and make things as comfortable for tanner as they possibly could In his final hrs. For that I can never say thanks enough. Now I'm proud to say I've become the new mom ( once again ) to an 11 wk old puppy ( bull mastiff,. Pitbull terrier, boxer & husky ) named Dozer. Dozer and I made his first visit this morning for his first round of vaccinations and a trimming of nails. The experience was even more comfortable then I remember particularly due to the stressful changes due to the covid 19 pandemic. Thanks Kingston vet from the bottom of my heart. Woof!
Dont have anything good to say about this place.
Very friendly
Dr. Morrison and Dr. Edwards are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our dog but they did everything they could to help her. They were tactful, caring and professional. Nobody wants to say goodbye to pet but they made our experience a little bit easier. Thanks!
Always a good experience when dealing with staff.
Professional, courteous service
I honestly love this place. These guys were absolute dolls to me when I lost my beloved dog of 16 years. They were realistic and honest about the kinds of treatment that I could afford and never once made me feel terrible or pressured me into anything.
Kind, professional, loving and gentle care. Can't recommend more highly.
Has been my vet choice for all my animals in Kingston. From my guinea pig to my dogs. Dr Ross, who I think is retired, was very friendly with my cats. He was very kind when helping me put my cat to rest. The other vets have been very kind with my animals.
my girls are all up to date two little chihuahua's females mother and daughter
They're closer near home That's where I order my specialty food
This clinic (Ross actually) charged a ton of money to keep my friends cat overnight. the owner took their cat home the next day to find the OSPCA at their door, to reclaim their cat without a real cause. It's been a couple days of fighting with lawyers involved, and we are now finding out the poor cat was euthanized when he arrived back at the clinic. The owner didn't have a say, wasn't present, paid the overnight bill and his cat was taken away from him. Ross, you shouldnt be called a doctor, and this whole scenario isnt professional, caring or even possibly legal, we'll let the lawyers deal with that. If you like your pet to remain alive, you may not want to go here.
Hairy and Minnie aren't thrilled to go to the veterinarian but, Dr. Ryan is always so great. He has sound advice and acts as if your pet is his pet. Dr. Ryan all the way!
All of our pets (2 cats and 1 dog) have been going to this clinic since 2014 and we couldn't be happier. The staff is always friendly and patient with our fur babies even when they're really nervous. Dr. Lera is the best vet we have ever dealt with, he is honest and gentle. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who cares about their fur babies.
We followed Dr. Adrienne Randall when she moved to this clinic. She is a wonderful vet and we feel very comfortable discussing Simon's health concerns with her. We have been very impressed with all of the members of the team. Their professionalism and compassion are very much appreciated!
Staff were nice. Switched from Princess Animal Hospital because their quoted price for my dog's teeth cleaning was ridiculous. No complaints.
Fantastic veterinary service. One of my cats recently got very sick and I could not be more grateful for the help the vets and vet nurses have given us. We have had numerous house calls since our visits with almost daily follow-ups and even after hours messages to keep updated. The staff has gone well out of their way for us and our pet. I would definitely recommend them.
I've been going here for years and they're always accomodating and patient and understanding.
Friendly staff
Knowledgeable vet (Jamie Lawless), good selection of products, and helpful front desk staff
Its ok place, i showed up a bit early for my appointment and they did not call my name until 15 mins after my appointment was suppose to start. Not a huge deal as they where most likely busy so i understood. The girls there where nice and understanding of my situation ill update my experience once my kitty has had his operation!
They care about your pet and you.
Our Vet Lisa is amazing! All of the staff is so lovely and genuinely cares for animals. They do not try to up sell and provide good information to help you make an educated decision on what to do for your pet.
Great staff who truly care about your pets
Very compassionate for every animal. Not exspensive and very understanding.
It's more affordable than most places in town. The wait time for appointments are shorter and the open hours are much later than others.. recommended.
Vet Assistants and Veterinarians are all very friendly and great with my two dogs. Prices are reasonable, as compared to our previous veteranary clinic. The only downfall is it's located on a very busy street at an Intersection and can be hard to pull into and come out of, and there are only about 5 parking spaces available, so I've had to park down the street and walk my dogs over.
My sweet Elsie and I were both treated with patience and kindness. Vet assistants and vet were both really receptive to my requests and concerns and provided valuable suggestions. I was particularly worried about seeing a new vet for the paperwork needed to travel with a pet, but they did an excellent job. They even spoke with the CFIA agent directly and promptly to ensure everything was perfect.
The service is excellent and the staff are very nice and good with the animals
This is not our usual vet, but when our pup needed stiches they got us in quickly and did a good job treating him. We paid $600 for 4 stiches. That is a comparatively reasonable rate.
Amazing staff was able to get us in on short notice. The vet that took care of our dog was great and even helped us save money well not compromising her care. Everyone's pet is different and that may not be the case for you. But it was very heart warming.
Ok
We had taken our dog to a different vet originally but they insisted on only treating his symptoms and putting him on expensive medication. We got fed up and brought him in to Kingston Vet clinic for a second opinion and they actually treated him and now he is doing great!! We have officially switched vets now and couldn't be happier!!
Dr. Ross is the best for our cat!
Ok
I love there service,,, they Are so friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff, affordable, and has flexible hours for people who want to go after work. My #1 choice for a Kingston clinic.
Very caring and professional
Dr Ken is a very good vet .reasonable pricing
*Edit* We were in touch with the practice manager Shannon Knox about this issue. She handled it with kindness, care, and sincerity. She went above and beyond to make sure that we felt heard in what we had experienced and found a way to resolve what had happened. Her commitment to repair felt extremely genuine and it was incredibly refreshing how she responded. I'm not sure if there was a process with the vet we dealt with but it's reassuring to know that this clinic has many people who care and prioritize the needs of their clients. Original Review Very disappointed with the service here. Our dog suddenly was in extreme pain in her hips. We brought her here thinking it might be Lyme and the vet said there was no possible way and refused to test her. Instead we spent $700 on X-rays and he sent us home with pain meds for the rest of her life because it was “arthritis”. This didn’t sit well with us so we went elsewhere for a second opinion. Sure enough she had Lyme and after a round of antibiotics was back to normal. If you choose to go here, listen to your gut and don’t back down if you think they are making a bad call.
Very caring and compassionate staff. They really love the pets that visit!
I think that they have food service but it's kind of worrisome. The first time I brought my furless baby into here and got her one year shots. We went home and noticed a bump/bubble kind of like a goose egg size a human would get on your head but not hard. And come to find out that can be from doing too large of a dosage of medicine. I haven't heard anything good or bad about this place, just my experience.. I also took a cat in at one point for deworming and whatnot but they decided to wait a couple hours after dropping her off and call me to come back later when they haven't even done it yet and did all the shots when I got there around 6pm then left with my baby. Just an interesting place I don't think they have strict standards...? I don't know though.
Very friendly staff
Love this place! They are always so friendly and professional!
I called here for the firsr time as I was looking to get my cat fixed. Did not feel like they would work with me to put together a payment plan. Felt they did not really care about my cat but were focused more on my wallet.
I'd rate lower if I could. I've been coming here for 4 years now. never been 'blown away' by their awesome service or anything.. this past year was very different. earlier this year we went to the vet for routine meds. they recommended/prescribed/sold us faulty meds. my dog was sick for days. they showed no remorse and didn't seem to care at all. months later we returned for a skim condition. she was given mass amounts of steroids at a high price. i had to return later, they didn't seem willing to stay late one night to wait for me. today was the cherry on top. I've been calling vets across the city to get the best prices on some shots. everywhere has been more than friendly. more than helpful. EXCEPT Kingston Vet Clinic. the girls have been hanging up on me all day due to a 'crackly' phone line. they have been sighing explosively in my ear. they have been making rude comments. they have been declining phone calls. they have talked down to me. not worth my time or money. terrible service. terrible place. go somewhere else. there are so many better places. limestone city, vac beardall, the downtown clinic, princess animal hospital, etc!!
Don't like
Caring doctor (Llera) and staff were absolutely wonderful when I recently had to make the tough decision to say goodbye to a furry friend. All my pets love coming here!
I called this morning as our beloved Slash (10 month old Pup) ripped his nail on his hind leg and was in pain. The friendly voice on the other line made an appointment for us at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Ross. From the moment we walked in the doors we we're welcomed like they knew us all their lives. Caring, loving our pet as we do ourselves. Slash is afraid of everything yet it didn't take him long to warm up to the staff. He was treated and we walked out of there extremely happy and content. Our family is very thankful to you for helping Slash xx
Not bad, but not as good as when Dr. Jamie Buchanan-Lawless was one of the vets there. The one I have now, well... she has stinky breath all the time lol !
Always willing to accommodate emergencies, and the staff is super helpful
Great people thanks
I have called on 3 seperate occasions to get one of my dogs in and I am always only offered to go to emergency. Really disappointed in the lack of access to help in Kingston.
The staff there is wonderful and very friendly
Everyone is so nice and caring
Sharing from my Facebook post to help others know how great KVC is! My cat collapsed at 2am early April 27th, requiring us to rush him to the emergency vet in extremely critical condition. Based on their assessment, prognosis seemed very poor as he was in respiratory distress with initially very little improvement. I brought Samwise to KVC literally right at open, so staff had no context at that time but were quick to bring him in so he could go back on oxygen. With the hard work of the team he started feeling better and was actually diagnosed with pneumonia, put on antibiotics and came back home with me that night. I can't thank everyone enough for the lifesaving care they gave to my little guy. Having lost a grandmother and dog last year as well as my dad unexpectedly earlier this year, I was incredibly emotional. I believe it was Dr. Chute looking after him and she was so empathetic and returned my call quickly. KVC also took him in the next day so I wouldn't have to worry about him while I worked. Considering his medical emergency began with a very real potential of Sam passing, I'm so grateful. He received a clean bill of health at a visit a month later and hopes not to cause so much drama again!
Excellent service
My cousin has been taking her dog here for a couple years now and has nothing but good things to say. Wonderful staff. Makes me want to switch vets.
Very good place. They are excellent with our dogs
Dr Chute is amazing and my dog actually WANTS to stop in when we walk by!
Great friendly staff
First off the service received over the phone was lovely. It's the policies I have an issue with. They won't sell you Advantix over the counter. They require an appointment. For flea medication. That you can buy online. So tack on an extra $70 minimum on top of the already pricey medication. 1-800 pet meds get my money.
I have taken my cats to the Kingston Vet Clinic for many years. My cat Ben was recently mauled by a fox (right here in Portsmouth!) and was badly injured. Dr. Ryan Llera did repeated surgeries to clean up Ben's wound and eventually repair everything. He was patient, understanding, knowledgeable and great! I got to know all of the staff over our weeks of recovery time and they were all sympathetic and helpful. I very much appreciated everything they did!
Very poor service, took my cat in just for Rabbi and worm shot, the vet took my cat out of the room gave her the shots plus another, examined her, all at the very low cost of $178.00. They just do what ever they want there, then bill you for it.
Caring and honest
Friendly people friendly people
I take my dog here for everything! Friendly front of house staff, knowledgeable and friendly veterinarians and they offer boarding!
Great service and friendly staff.
My dog had not been off my farm in 7 and 1/2 years so when I took him to Kingston Veterinary Clinic I was a little worried but the staff was very gentle and my dog was treated with love and respect... infection identified and treated immediately and dog is as good as new
We have been taking our pets here for years and could not happier with the Kingston Veterinary Clinic. The staff and quality of care are both exceptional. We highly recommend them to anyone in need of a veterinary care for their pets
Always great with our fur baby.???? We wouldn't go anywhere else in Kingston, especially since we had a bad experience at another vet.
Jamie is great!
Very carrying to us and to our pets
Not a huge fan of the vets there. I’ve gone twice and saw two different vets and not a fan of either of them. Today I went to pick up medication and the vet told me a certain price and did not tell me about their $20 dispensing fee. Was not happy at all and won’t be returning.
Great vet! Never had a single issue with them and they are great with my pets
Our dog wouldnt be alive without them.
I love them they are kind to all our dogs and care about all animals
This clinic is based in town at a location that was easily found and accessible for teddy bear and myself. The environment is friendly, clean and pet friendly. The staff took the time to smile and reassure me and Teddy that he was in good hands.Thank you to the caring staff at Veterinary Clinic our love goes out to you.
I would definitely recommend the Kingston veterinary clinic ...I have been going to this clinic since 2006 and have had great service for all my dogs.. my daughter now takes her 3 dogs there! Dr Ross helped me for the longest time until his retirement and now Dr Llera has become our new vet... I’m very grateful for such accommodating and professional service! Thank you Dr Llera and the awesome support staff they have... I will see you soon..
Great service and very knowledgable staff.
When I first had my dog as a pup, I was about a week or two late getting a booster shot. This vet clinic told me I had to get the 1st shot done again before getting the booster. If you ask any professional vet, a week or two late on getting a booster DOES NOT require you to start the process again. Never went back. It was all about the money, and I'm not cheap, but I'm not stupid either.
Amazing veterinarians who are kind caring and take the time to listen
This vet clinic, is AMAZING. They take the time to get to know your furbaby. They double check everything. They listen to you. And best part is they are not very expensive.
Amazing staff! The ladies at the front are very efficient and they and the techs and vets are very caring. I recently lost my dog and everyone was beyond compassionate. I have taken my pets here for years (cats and dogs) and am very happy with the care. They are reasonably priced as well. I can't say enough about KVC, they get full marks from me.
Dr Ross is the best!
They took great care of my boy during his final days. Very respectful.
I have never been I just wanna know do u have to pay the money up front or can u wait a week because my dog is having a little bit of troubles breathing and I don't get paid til next week and I don't know if he can wait that long
Great vet clinic - nice staff - didn't price gouge .. reasonable prices.
The staff are very friendly and have always been able to help. I've never had a problem and they've always been able to help my cats.
The vet was great in dealing with my baby Diamond. Thank you so much for making it easier to say goodbye.
Had a fantastic experience today at Kingston vet clinic. Everyone was very kind, gentle and thorough. They took the time to get to know us as a new client and were happy to answer all of my questions. Not only were they knowledgable with their answers, but a not point did I feel rushed. It was a comfortable atmosphere and a very warm welcome to a new city and to a new vet ???? Thanks Dr. Chute and team
Somewhat improved customer experience today. Almost on time for my appointment - I was early and only waited three minutes past the scheduled time. My concerns were fully addressed. Was asked during booking, intake and appointment if I had any questions or needed any other help with my dog. Seemed to be totally new staff. Will go one more time to see if they can repeat their success. The last two years it has always seemed like the customer in front of them was an interruption and while on the telephone I would get different answers as to when I should call them back and then asked why I didn't call sooner. I can only hope they are learning better customer service.
Had some issues with Dr. Llera not being understanding of financial struggles, but I switched to one of their other vets and everyone else there is great!
Our animals have always received great care here. As customers, we have also always been treated very well. I've always felt their advice to be reasonable, and they provide a space for an open, nonjudgmental dialogue between professionals and pet owners. I would 100% recommend this clinic.
Got my female cat altered here, came home sneezing and puking and got my other cat sick. Called Kingston Vet Clinic and was told that it was impossible my cat came home sick from there facility. Couldn't even take responsibility for there mistake. Horrible vet, save your money and your animals dignity and visit a reputable clinic.
I buy pet food here but most have been friendly
Very caring facility. Staff is friendly and willing to help outside their normal daily routine. I brought in a dog I found on the street and they were willing to care for it knowing I was not the owner. They took me in without an appointment understanding the situation. I would recomend them to anyone needing a vet for their pet.
Professessional and friendly customer service.
Fantastic staff from receptionist to vet's. Friendly, efficient service.
Super happy with my fur baby Lilo’s first experience there. All the staff are amazing, welcoming and super friendly. They took lots of time for a thorough health check and my Lilo absolutely adored them ❤️.
Great staff wonderful service
Going through a tough ordeal with your pet is something every pet owner has been through. My latest ordeal was a month long, sleepless nights and stress beyond tolerance. If it wasn't for the amazing people at Kingston Vet Clinic, I can't imagine how I could of managed. As I have experienced over the years, these folks genuinely care about your pets, and they know what you are going through. Going above and beyond doesn't express how much they did, and how much I relied on them through my pets suffering. Taking my calls and getting my pet checked the same day, especially when I was almost in tears, guarantees me being a patron for life. If anything I can say would make you want to use their services, it would be that they understand, they care, and they want to help.
Always provide an excellent service, both the vets and nurses. I recommend this clinic to all pet owners.
Excellent care for my dogs over many years.
I'd rather not.
Moved to the area 1.5 yrs ago and I can't believe how many people have warned me about this vet. Where there's smoke there's fire and all the warnings are true. From terrible service, to WAY overpriced procedures, to pushing expensive tests that aren't required, to killing pets due to negligence. The manager of this clinic is also the administrator for the Facebook "Beaches" page. Many many many people on this FB page complain about this clinic and she deletes there posts which is a conflict of interest not allowing people to give there opinions on local businesses. Don't be mesmerized by the big street sign or claims of donations they make for pets (sure when you're charging double or triple for basic services I'm sure it's easy to make small donations) Don't listen to me or even the other 4 star reviews on Yelp from friends, family and employees of the clinic. I challenge you to ask 5 pet owners in the area about this clinic and you'll find the answer for yourself STAY AWAY !!! There are much better clinics in the area that will charge you MUCH less and will give you much better appropriate service.
Love Dr. Lawless and the staff friendly and professional
I had been going to the vet for some 13 years over a pair of pets. The turnover of vets seemed pretty high—I seldom interacted with the same veterinarian more than a couple times. Most seemed very good, others a little less so. But last year I had a very uninspiring interaction with the clinic: my cat had an urgent concern, and the soonest they could slot me in was 9 days later. (My cat had stopped eating, and was starting to hide in unusual places around my home). The receptionist could only offer that I could call back in the morning to try my luck at booking an "emergency slot", adding that I "should call early because they fill up fast." In stark contrast, I called up another nearby vet who, despite never having dealt with me before, immediately shared my concern, and offered that they would find a way to fit me in between visits that very afternoon (I might have to wait, but they would find a way). Veterinary medicine is an expensive service; I guess I expect a bit more service for the expense. I'm disappointed that my vet of 13 years seems more concerned about keeping a full schedule than accommodating an urgent situation. I did reach out to the Kingston Veterinary Clinic with these concerns shortly after the situation had resolved, and nobody ever bothered responding to me—also very uninspiring. *** Answering the response from the owner: please feel free to respond to my original email from June 2020; I sent it to that very email address, and never heard anything back.
Edited for context: I attended this clinic only twice with my cat and my partner's cat. My partner brought his cat in first and they told him everything was great with her and that he was doing a great job. Then brought in my (much more nervous) kitty and while I was attempting to focus on her the vet informed me of the issues with my other cat that he had failed to inform my (male) partner. Saying I overfeed her (I don't, and she gets lots of exercise) and didn't believe me when I said she's on a diet. For clarification she is his cat, not mine, and when I told him he was disappointed as he would have liked to discuss her health with the vet directly. Secondly my cat is a very nervous cat, so I warned them they would need gloves. I had to repeat this a few times and the vet tried to handle her with bare hands only to get a scratch as I said would happen. He then criticized me continually for not drugging her up for the appointment when it was my first appointment with them and she has reacted better at other vets before so I a) wasn't sure what to expect and b) did not have access to a prescription. I chose this vet because they specifically said they are experienced with anxious cats but I could tell that was not really the case. He then proceeded to accuse me of overfeeding this cat as well (I do not, my cats are 12 and 11 lbs respectively). Lastly, I received a prescription for gabapentin for travel as I just did a cross country move (or was about to at the time of the visit). They prescribed my 11 lb cat 150 mg every 8 hours. The standard is 50-75 mg and 100 for large cats. 150 is extremely excessive for her little body and I could not find any resources that show vets commonly prescribe this dose or perscribe it at all. When I came to pick it up there was another lady in the waiting room who told me her dog is on more drugs than a human for his appointment and they still wouldn't touch him because he barked at them. Food for thought. Additionally their desk is consistently understaffed and they don't answer phones. Overall I would never reccommend this clinic. (No issues with the vet techs, per usual they were the stars of the show).
Excellent response to all our pets issues and illnesses.
We've taken our dogs here for many years. The vets are great.

Very friendly staff and they don't try to over charge you at all.
Have had the best experience with them. Recommend everyone to take their pets here. Your pets will be in great hands!
