Very disappointed with this place. We should have known from the first conversation to go with our regular vet for our puppy's spay but we were on a timeline. When we called to make the appointment we spoke to Emily on the phone and we just had a bunch of prices thrown at us for all of their locations even though we requested to book through the spay neuter clinic (the cheaper option). We left that conversation not even knowing what we had booked. So we called back and asked for her to confirm the price and what location it was booked through. She wouldn’t double check for us because she was “pretty sure” she booked it through the spay neuter clinic. A few weeks later we get a call (from Emily) to go over the instructions. We were told to keep her confined to her crate for two weeks and to only let her out to use the bathroom! We were told absolutely no stairs, period. We live in a basement apartment. She told us to “find alternatives”! Morgan the RVT who handed her back to us later that evening was fantastic and had much more realistic instructions for the recovery time. She even showed us how to pick her up properly without irritating the incision.
A week later, she develops complications. She had smelly discharge from her “lady parts” and won’t eat. We call, we are told just to watch her. We called our usual vet for a second opinion. They say she absolutely needs to be seen but can’t offer us an appointment until the next day. We call Kingston West back asking for someone to please look at her. I leave a voicemail which was never returned. My girlfriend calls back an hour later and finally they agree to see her. They ask us if the discharge we were seeing is just bloody poo, because she had some of that on the day of her spay. WHAT? She had bloody poo and no one told us? Dr Lyndsay Clarke looks at her a few hours later and prescribed her some antibiotics (twice the price we would have paid at our normal vet for the meds and they charged us for the appointment). She was excellent to deal with. Took the time to chat with us and answer all our questions, even took the cone off and told us she could resume normal activity soon.
Overall, going to Kingston Napanee Spay Neuter Clinic was a mistake. We should have paid more to have our dog spayed by our regular vet.
