Excellent experience. My dog had heartworms and was mid-treatment with my vet in New Orleans. When hurricane Ida hit, I evacuated and had to quickly find a new vet to complete the treatment on schedule. Kingston Animal Hospital was welcoming and gracious, took time to answer all of my questions, provided excellent care, and ensured my dog got her treatment on time. Would highly recommend.
This is a shame because KAH has become a racket. We’ve been going here for over 20 years and have been very satisfied with the care of our pets. But we’ve noticed, as have had many others, that in the last couple of years there has been a very clear and aggressive focus on up selling, padding bills and requiring vaccinations other services This leads to absurdly expensive bills. Case in point. We brought our dog in today for a $52 grooming. The final bill was about $380. That’s right. The $40 flu vaccine was required. Don’t know how that helps our dog or any dogs it might come in contact with when given 15 min before it’s grooming. Then the groomer brought our dog down to the vet with so-called concerns. A vet examined our dog without our permission gave him an expensive injection without our permission, and then called to voice his concerns and recommending a course expensive medication. I agreed to this course of treatment because, what are you going to do when your vet tells you your animal needs something. But what I do know is after 20 years will never be going back again. This is happened one too many times. It’s clear that as other people of mentioned, the sale of the practice to a corporate entity has ruined the business. PS. Groomers did a fine job.
Friendly and loving staff at Kingston animal hospital. They take the time to chat with you and give your pet the time they deserve. Made our routine exam and shots very comfortable for me and my dog Rex.
The doctors are great and take the time to fit you in and explain everything to you, even in a pandemic!
Very pleasant. Saved my kitty.
I'm very disappointed. This is the second time I have called and left a message for a vet to call me back. Waited all day for a return call. I called before they closed and was reassured that she would get back to me. I have been going to kingston animal hospital for at least 20 years. Things have really changed. Mabe it's time to move on.????
Great place there where very sweet and kind Thank you stafff you guys are wonderful
I had a chi mix i brought here they could not figure out what was wrong with him he had issues with people but they acted like he was annoying. it felt they did not wanna deal with him or me. because i am on disability. i felt like i was a burden because we kept going there spending so much money i had to re-home him. we miss him everyday the lady i gave him to brought him to the city. and they found out he had an ear infection. they thought i did not get his blood work done or anything because this vet NEVER sent over his paperwork. i was livid they made me look like a terrible pet owner!
It's 91 outside and my appointment for my sick dog was supposed to be a half an hour ago. The office is still not allowing anyone except staff inside. Last week they screwed up a credit card charge and it took days to fix. I requested a phone call from the office manager and am still waiting to hear back from them. The medical side of the practice is great, but the front desk staff can be difficult and makes a lot of mistakes.
My dog had a blood clot on the top of his paw they saw him got him in for surgery right away and I'm a very nervous dog mom I called for everything little thing they explained everything my baby just came back from his last visit everything is great he is healthy and happy thanks to the people at the kingston animal hospital
Very knowledgeable and effective. The only piece of constructive criticism is if you tell me to bring a stool sample, please tell me that it will be a $50 fee to run a test on the sample. Other than that very pleased.
Brianna is amazing!
I have known Dr. Rugg and his team at the Kingston Animal Hospital since the 1980' s. It is true that the essence of an organization is created from the top, for Dr. Rugg's caring - for both animals and pet owners- is evidenced in the staff he has assembled. You can trust your beloved pets to be well cared for there. They make room in the schedule for your sick pet, and accommodate your needs as well. As I became handicapped in the recent years have helped me get my pets in and out of the car. I can't say enough good things about this veterinary facility.
Very caring staff that made my family very important. They were so unbelievably wonderful.
Our golden retriever had an issue so we called and they took us right in. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the doctor is great. We are fortunate to have them in our area.
I have been coming here since we adopted our basset hound. We live in the city but I make it a point to always bring him to these guys. Always quick and easy to make an appointment. Super friendly and informative.
Saw the vet techs, they were very caring and knew what they were doing. John Schock
Very flexible and up front with prices and realistic needs of indoor vs out door cats.
The staff and Dr. Beth Alden were extremely kind and accommodating! I couldn’t have asked for sweeter people. They took care of my cat Miss Pretty with such loving kindness. I just found our new Animal Hospital! Thank you so much for taking care of my fur baby and putting us at ease. Mary Ann Hayes
Love the front desk staff!
Read how many bad reviews they have before you take any pet you care about there . I brought an extremely sick small cat to them for help that I had found on my porch .the cat was sick and crying in distress . They absolutely refused to even look at her . Said they were too busy ! There was literally One other person waiting to be seen in the parking lot . I was so upset over this poor animal I just could not believe the response I got from them . They quite clearly do not care about animals at all . No one who works at an animal clinic whether a technician or a veterinarian should be able to just turn away a distressed pet ….
Our family loves Kingston Animal Hospital. We've taken our cat Red to them for over 10 years. Really wonderful staff and service.Highly recommend!
I brought my uncle's cat her and had a wonderful experience - but after switching and bringing both my animals here post Covid, it has been a horrible experience. It is so busy it is like a factory vet. No personal attention is given to you or your concerns - they rush through basics of the visit over a super quick phone call - but are hurried to get off the phone, hurried to take your pet, hurried to return it, the mindfulness of caring veterinary work is gone. I brought my 6 year old dog in because of lethargy and lack of wanting to exercise. She has a heart murmur, which they identified, but after x-rays and a cardiogram they were not able to return my call for over 4 days, every day saying they would call me by the end of the day with the results. They put my dog on prednisone and told me "nothing was wrong" - I had to call and email back for another full week to get the records and copies of the tests which ran $850+. Upon reading the cardiogram report, there is a recommendation to explain the signs of progressive cardio disease so I can watch for signs, indication of that she should be further tested for pulmonary airway problems, and should have her heart monitored every 9 months minimum. I received none of the this information and don't know what I am looking for aside from what I have garnered off the internet. It seems this clinic is a quantity over quality clinic. If you have anything serious going on with your pet this is not the vet for you.
I have followed Dr Turner here for the continued care of my special needs dog and am so happy I did. The staff is always so kind, they treat Sid and I like family, and he gets the greatest care. I have begun recommending my children bring their own animals here as well, and they travel an hour to be treated for the diagnostics and care they need. We are thrilled to have Kah on our side for the extra love Sid needs. When there are true emergencies, the doctors and techs drop everything to support you and your pet/furry family member/companion as if it were their own.
Worst Vet visit ever. No doctor there to write script for my dog. That was the purpose of the visit. Draw blood for levels and get script refill. To boot blood drawn put in wrong vile. That’s not it, they draw blood from other leg. My poor dog was put through more stress and anxiety and I still had to pay the bill. You would think they would have waived the fee or given a discount for a bad mess up. Don’t know if I am going to continue going there.
Dr. Rugg & Dr. Alden are great!!!! Support staff are very caring and friendly.
Do NOT being your pets here. Ever since Dr.Rugg sold the practice it is horrible! You will wait forever and they take your pets inside without their owners. They don't keep accurate records and I know they gave my dog incorrect vaccinations because of this!
Kingston animal hospital has been our vets for many years. They are caring, kind and utterly competent. We trust them with the healthcare of our beloved feline fur kids. Highly recommend!
I am always confident that my Abby girl is getting quality care and compassion when she is in at the Kingston Animal Hospital. Their staff is courteous and friendly, always willing to answer your questions. Thank you!!
The doctors are amazing and the staff is super friendly. They take wonderful care of our four dogs! Even though I moved to New York City, I continue to bring my doggy here because they are the best!
Thank You Dr. Alden and Dr. Rugg for all the time and care you put into our family.
We had our annual check up today and we were given many options on how to choose a plan for our feline. We have been going here for years and everyone is always very nice and helpful. We never have to wait very long when we arrive, and appointments are confirmed a couple days in advance by phone and email.
Great veterinary place.Smart, caring, thorough staff. Dr. Alden is awesome.
Best experience I ever had at a veterinarian's office.
This is an amazing veterinarian care office. They have taken care of our dog and cats over the 15 years we have lived in the area. We are loyal to the practice only because they have been so great. If you tell them money is an issue, they will do whatever they can to work with you. And the entire staff is friendly, competent, and respectful. Highly recommended.
I have been going to KAH for years with all my pets. They are the greatest.
All the people that work there truly love the animals they care for.
The docs and staff are great. That is why I still bring my children there. I have one issue. Since the new owners took over, the rates for services have gone up
Was camping for the weekend with my 3 year old pit mix and 8 week old Aussie Shepherd. My pit mix decided to play with a porcupine and had over twenty quills in his face. Kingston was an hour and 15 away but one of the only places open in the area. We took the drive and were immediately seen and was all done in an hour and a half. Mind you Saturday morning during the pandemic. These guys saved our weekend and can’t thank them enough.
Very dependable, knowledgeable, and kind. When no vet in the area would take my pup because of possible Parvo, Kingston Animal Hospital took her in and treated her great. She survived thanks to the folks at the hospital. I had to go back when she needed vaccines because they are the people I trust. Thanks everyone, you are heroes!
They are wonderful with handling the pets & are too professionals with their care, but they use language that pressures you into services that are expensive and not necessary. I feel totally taken advantage of financially.
The staff and Dr 's are the best. They care for the animals as if they were their own. Best care available .
I couldn't recommend Kingston Animal Hospital more highly! We could not get an appt with our regular vet and our puppy was very ill. We described the situation to Kingston Animal Hospital and they told us to bring her right in (despite being very busy!) and took excellent care of her. She needed to be hospitalized and is doing much better now. We will continue using Kingston Animal Hospital for vet services for our dogs from now on.
What a scam! I brought my daughters dog in for shots as a favor. When I got there, they told me that the dog had to have a wellness exam too. I informed them that she just had one at her vet in the city & that they could call. They would not give the needed shots without the expensive exam. What a scam! They’re just trying to take advantage. When I go in for my flu shot, I don’t need a full exam prior, but apparently a dog does for a simple babies booster. It’s too bad that in these horrible time when people are struggling financially in a pandemic that this business is taking advantage of their customers. Not cool! They claim to be animal lovers, but they’re obviously not, because now the dog had to go without until my daughter came back. Update: My daughter got her shot records from them because we will not be going back. They wrote in the records that I swore at this, which is a blatant lie! How dishonest can you get? Don’t trust your pet to these charlatans.
I have been a client for Dr. Rugg‘s over 25 years. Over the last 25 years I have had nothing but the most wonderful care for my beautiful babies. I appreciate Dr. Rugg and his staff very much. I am so happy to know that there is such a wonderful friendly office full of people that love my pets as much as I do. Thank you Dr. Rugg for all your love, care and support over the years.
Love all the doctors there. They are very good with the animals and know what they are doing.
Definitely one of the most expensive vets around here. If you have the money up front to do it, get the wellness package so it’s a full year of everything you need for your dog. $600 is a lot, but worth it over time. My dog was treated very well, and I’m glad we took him here
Best place to take ur fur babies!! They saved my dogs lifr
Dr. Rugg runs the best comprehensive veterinary practice that I have ever come across in my long life as a pet parent. I have no reservations whatsoever in giving this practice the highest ratings possible for the level of care, caring and professionalism.
There respectful caring trusting loving they listen to us and focused there real true animal hospital amazing people where blessed out pup Shyalow back to being who she was before thank you for helping and supporting her you all deserve a raise and vacation
Always fast, friendly and sadly no longer affordable. It's a shame, but I'll be moving on from their practice.
Everyone that I have dealt with there are so nice and they genuinely care about the animals. They take excellent care of our pets.
Always attentive to all of our needs and concerns in our fur babies!!!! Thank you for all you do, I’m very thankful to have you as my vet.
I will love always my dog Miley????????????
I go here for both of my dogs which should build a rapport with the vet by now. But no! Unless I go in to get a wellness exam and PAY them to check small concerns that doesn’t even need a visit they will never call me back neither will they reply to emails! I emailed them urgently before Christmas saying I believe my dog have food allergies or IBD because she keeps puking and I would like to make an appointment and get her in ASAP! Nobody replied me/ called me it’s been past over Christmas. I started taking my dog across the river and if I ever have concerns and I call the vet or email them with concerns the vet actually calls me back and talks to me without visit or at least emails me back. What a bad service! There’s only one vet here in Kingston that’s why I have to keep going in!
My furbabies hare going to the vet. But at Kingston Animal Hospital they made my girls feel so welcome, I was worried that I would have to do a light sedation but she was good with everyone there. And the staff is so nice. I will not go anywhere again after years of looking for a vet closer to home. Now I do not have to take 2 hr drive to take them to the vet. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT KINGSTON ANIMAL HOSPITAL.
I also want to say that all of the workers and LVT's are always SO friendly and helpful. The workers seem to really love their job and it shows! My dog, Boston, and I truly feel comfortable coming to the Kingston Animal Hospital!
We have been customers of Kingston Animal Hospital forever! Happy to see that the changes the vet practice has undergone have not affected the excellent service and outstanding medical services.
Very good care taken with my Yorkie
Only our first vist but the Vet seemed to.be knowable and kind with Juno. The vist cost under 200.00$ so I felt this was fair. Of course Juno's health means more to me then any money on earth.
Great place to bring your beloved pets, little expensive but definitely worth it as the people there are absolutely amazing. Me and my family have gone there the entire time we have been in the area and even after moving a twenty minute or so drive away me and my dad still go, they are that amazing. :)
Many appointments later after going through reams of paperwork to travel with my dogs, the Kingston Animal Hospital was beyond helpful every step of the way. They took my calls, ensured that all follow-up paperwork was proper, and spent plenty of time ensuring that the dogs were cared for. Affordable and friendly isn't even the half of it! This is one vet my dog is excited to go to.
Very nice staff, have taken my dogs there since 2007 and have never had a single issue. They treated my old dog with such caring and respect that even though there was a lapse of a few years between them, there was no doubt where we'd take our new pup when it came time.
We brought our dog in to get treated for breathing problems he had been having and Dr Alden diagnosed him quickly, confidently without any unnecessary tests required. He is back to normal after a round of antibiotics and appreciate the quick and reasonably priced service provided. Will be bringing him back here in the future! Thank you
I had an appointment in April for my dog Charlie. I called when we got there to let them know we had arrived for our appt. We waited an hour outside waiting to be called for our turn. In the meantime an Emergency pulled up and the dog was bloodied. They asked if I wouldn't mind rescheduling. I said of course. I went home and made new appt's for my two dogs who are now due for shots and a well check up. We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled appt. I checked in and waited over an hour outside for our turn. Once I was called for my turn the Tech came outside and took Charlie in. After about 20 minutes the same tech came out and took Jake in. About 30 minutes later he brought out Charlie and then Jake. I was presented with my bill which was charged to my credit card I had provided earlier. I signed it and went home. After looking at it I realized I was charged $50.00 for the visit in April which I was asked to reschedule. I called a couple of days later to get a credit and was told by the guy answering the phone that he couldn't issue me a credit. I have since tried to get this rectified and cannot get somebody on the phone who is authorized. Also, I was asked on the phone while I was outside waiting if I wanted to get blood work done on Charlie. They said it was overdue. I had no idea as I was sitting in my car waiting for Charlie to be taken in. So, I said Sure. When I got my bill it was $175.00 for the blood work. Had I known that in this time of no income I would have said no. I am now looking for another Vet for my 3 dogs!
Updating my review to announce that this office is a total FAIL! My kitty, Alberta, saw Dr. Rugg. Although the initial visit seemed successful, a complication arose and multiple attempts to contact Dr. Rugg by email over several days went completely unanswered. I had to have Alberta treated by another vet and might have lost her. Do NOT take your beloved animal companions to this butcher shop.
Dr. Rugg you are the best, we have always felt confident in your care of our beloved pets past and present. Thank you for all you do.
They always give me all their treats for my wild ones and they saved my moms dogs life...thank you
Takes great care of my dogs friendly staffing
Misdiagnosed pneumonia for fatal FIP and almost euthanized my cat even though tests showed FIP to be unlikely. Take your animal elsewhere. They just want your money.
I called about an emergency for my cat, Thumbelina, and they were able to take her in immediately even though she wasn’t a patient. They were so kind and caring for her, and everyone I spoke to on the phone was so wonderful. The doctor was amazing and answered all my questions. Thumbelina was all better as soon as she got home and is feeling perfect still. The price for the visit was more than reasonable. They are such wonderful people here that know what they are doing. I will definitely be bringing Thumbelina back here!
I’ve been a regular customer for quite a while and I made an appointment to get my dog. Heart Worm vaccination. I was told on the phone that the cost would be $89. When I got there, I was told that we would have to get a wellness check and bloodwork test too. Total cost = $324. I was outraged with total lack of upfront transparency. They may be good practitioners but their customer communications and care leave much to be desired.
My cat was having life threatening issues and I called the Kingston Animal hospital and they helped immediately. They were very concerned and caring for my baby Lucky. The entire staff and Doctor Turner were of tremendous help. I highly recommend the Kingston Animal Hospital...!!!!!!
Sadly, after 30 years bringing our dogs/cats, our experience was terrible. Came for appointment of lymes' booster [$35], then informed we needed rabies shot [OK], but then after an endless barrage of sales pitches, on numerous shots dog "required" [not so], vet comes back with at least 4 needles in her hand, along with a vial for "nasal booster," and who knows what else. We were stunned, but silent [our fault]! Somewhere during the sales pitches [including pamphlets, brochures, "well care plan," health insurance… coming from both Dr. & assistant—interesting how their talking points were identical] she likely mentioned some of what she later injected into him, but my wife and I neither understood what she was up to nor approved of all she did injected our dog. Checking out we were once again stunned by the $200 bill. After speaking with others having similar experiences and being told it is not good for the dog's system to be bombarded with so many shots at once [which may explain why he has not been the same since his visit], we are following others to different vets. I wonder if this will get posted publicly.
Very caring, helpful, patient, and affordable! They work with you to help you afford your animal's care . I highly recommend this veterinarian hospital. Dr. Beth Alden is my main vet there and she is a great doctor - thoughtful and very thorough and takes the time to explain best animal care to you. The staff and nurses are so patient and kind and understand you're worried about your fur-baby. Thank you to everyone at Kingston Animal Hospital!!!
Very professional and friendly. I trust them with my babys.
While I hate taking my dog to the vet (to be fair, it's not her favorite thing either) at least I know she's getting good care. The staff is quick to answer any questions you have, and the wait (if any) is minimal so you can get your pet back home as quick as possible.
Number one I had to wait 45 minutes for them to ta BEN my cat from the car to go inside. Number two cost me twice as much since his last mat removal two years ago..Number three there was cat poop all in the cat carrier. I'm very disappointed with the new owners. They are way over priced and take there own good time to bring the pets inside. I think I am looking for a new vet. The time I took him for a uti he came home with fleas. Exam rooms could be lot cleaner. Jean Vanness .
Excellent care, excellent bedside manner. Cannot say enough about Dr. Alden and her wonderful staff.
4/12 We have been long time supporters of Kingston Animal Hospital, going back to 2003. I respect and appreciate both Drs. Rugg and Alden for the care they've provided my dogs. I defer to them without question when it comes to my dogs. EVER SINCE THE PRACTICE WAS SOLD TO A CORPORATE VET GROUP, HOWEVER, THE QUALITY OF CARE HAS FALLEN. Concurrently, the emphasis on selling more vaccinations, treatments and services has increased. I understand people wanting to make a buck, but pushing often unnecessary vaccinations borders on unethical. Similarly, the practice is now requiring twice yearly wellness exams, stool sampling, etc. We had an appointment today to update Skye's rabies vaccination, but when we arrived and checked in, I was told that since her last wellness exam was in September, a wellness exam was required before they would vaccinate her (why wasn't that shared with me when I made the appointment several weeks ago? An intentional oversight?). After the appointment I called 3 other local vet practices who all stated that unless your pet is experiencing issues, a once yearly wellness exam is sufficient. As for quality of service....when the vet tech returned Skye to my car today, she reviewed my concerns. She said one issue I had was common with older dogs. I then asked if 4 and a half was "older". She said "No". I told her Skye was 4 and a half. She had no idea of her age. How can they not know the age of the dog which they just examined inside? I then asked what they thought of her weight loss. She had no idea what I was talking about. I said that she saw that Skye weighed around 74 lbs when I put her on the scale...which was almost 20 lbs less than last year. She never looked at or compared with previous weight. This practice no longer has my trust. PS Following our 11am (dis)appointment, I called the vet's office at 11:50 today and asked to speak with a manager. I wanted to raise my concerns directly and give management an opportunity to respond. It's now almost 2:30. While I haven't received a return call from management, I did get a call from the office seeking payment. That about sums up my impression of the practice's focus. Update 4/12 4:30pm and still no return call from a manager. Update 4/12 evening, I emailed asking for a phone call. Update 4/13 4:25pm and still no return call. Update 4/15 I've called and emailed them and still haven't received a response. This serves to reaffirm my impression of the practice and my decision to drop them. Update. 4/26... Since April 12, I have called, emailed, posted to the practice's Facebook account and messaged via Facebook to request a manager speak with me to address my concerns about Skye's April 12th appointment and the practice's new policies, standard of care, and poor communication. I've received no response other than today's online reply to my previous Google review of the practice. In said reply the practice disingenuously chose to mischaractize my concerns as being about medical recommendations rather than greed, incompetence and poor client services. The facts set forth in my above review speak for themselves. No medical recommendations were even provided to me. Update 5/17. The practice emailed on 4/26, two weeks after the appointment, that it would send my dog's records to a new vet. So never returned my call or attempted to address my concerns. I then realized that the practice hadn't updated my dog's rabies tag...which had been the purpose of the appointmen. I emailed the practice on 4/27. It replied that it would mail me the tag and certificate. Well what I received was not what was promised. No tag was in the envelope...and the certificate was for a different client, for a cat, for a vaccination given in 2017 which expired in 2020, but yet was dated April 27, 2021. It was a fraudulent certificate. I have no idea what's going on at that practice,..and apparently neither do the administrative staff and new owner. I have no trust in their competency. I'd stay away.
I am quite disappointed in the vet tech Eric. He made my 15 yr old gurrrll Blanca JUMP INTO MY CAR after having an emergency hysterectomy the same day. She pulled a staple and I watched blood drip onto my car seat. I WAS HORRIFIED. Then he was sent back outside and downplayed it..." oh, she's fine. This happens. " And then he wrapped a stretch bandage around her. He showed no empathy whatsoever for my dog. [Or me, but I don't care about me]. Also, there is a lack of proper communication with this place. They sent an email saying to pick my dog yo at 645pm. Nobody told me I had to drive gett to the ER CLINIC for overnight then pick her back up at 7am to return her back to the vet, and they only open at 9am!! My poor dog. It'd be nice to have get recuperate IN ONE SPOT not in and or of a car 4 times.... my heart hurts. I hope my gurrrll pulls thru this. I think things would've been much different if Dr. Alden had been working. She has always been excellent. Dr. Turner was great as well explaining everything. The worst is that ppl still cannot go in with a critically sick baby. It's reallllllly hard. And it affords bad communication. It stinks... ????????. UPDATED AND EDITED REVIEW!! JULY 28,2021... Upon speaking with the clinic manager at Kingston animal hospital, and having to go back and forth there for 4 days with my baby gurrrll, I needed to post a new review. It is not a fair review for the OVERALL CARE that Blanca received thru this horrific ordeal. All the other techs and all vets and clerical staff there were sooooo kind and caring and concerned for both Blanca and me. It is very difficult for clear communication during this covid time when one cannot set the dr. face to face. But they did their best. I have to say that this hospital was overall very GOOD an's they took great care of her. Thanks especially to all the female techs who came out and helped me get Blanca in and out of the car for 4 days, esp. Renee(?) And Ashley. Thank you Dr. Rugg for saving my gurrrll who was filled with pus, and he didn't get any infection into her peritoneal cavity or bloodstream. It reallllllly was a very urgent surgery and very risky. 27 staples... 15 years old... and she's doing SO well 9 days later????????????????????. I DO RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL. JUST BE INVOLVED AND CALL THE BUSINESS MANAGER JESSICA IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS. She spoke with me for 20 minutes an hour after I wrote the first review. SHE CARES!!!
Excellent care and very kind staff.
Kingston Animal Hospital is absolutely wonderful!!! My dog Puppy ate rat poison. Panicking, I called my usual vet and they told me they didn’t have time to see my dog and hung up on me. Called Kingston Animal Hospital and even though Puppy isn’t a patient they were able to get me in as fast as I could get there. They saw Puppy immediately. The vet was so caring and compassionate about my dogs health. I will be taking my dogs to Kingston Animal Hospital for now on. Thank you!
Unfortunately this Vet office has gone down hill. My latest experience was scheduling an appointment for my dogs well visit and rabies shot. I was told that I should call when I arrive and someone will retrieve my dog from my car and then they will bring her out when she is done. Not really understanding why I can’t go inside with my pet but whatever- I mean I was under the impression the mask works? I wait in my car for over and hour and decide to call and ask how much longer this visit will take. I was then informed this was an all day drop off visit! What?!?! My dog is 70lbs if I knew this was an all day visit I would never have agreed to drop her off ! She can’t be crammed in a cage for hours on end. Not to mention now my dog is being exposed to many other dogs and quite frankly I’m not ok with that. I then tell the woman on the phone to skip the well visit and just do the rabies vaccine and let me know when I pick up my dog ASAP. She replies “ok”. Later that day when they were FINALLY done giving my dog a rabies vaccine I pick her up. They charged me for a well visit after I told them I didn’t want it and then they also tried charging me for a stool sample which I didn’t bring in!! WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR OFFICE????? at this point I’m over it all just want to take my dog home. Get home with my dog and she’s absolutely traumatized. Traumatized bc who knows what even happened inside the office for the past 6 hours they had her. Today I realIze these people didn’t even give me the rabies tag!!! So here I am driving to the vets office to pick up the tag. PLEASE DONT BRING YOUR DOG TO THIS PLACE. I used to love this vet and now it’s just aweful. Good bye!
all the staff are wonderful kind a very caring
Kingston Animal Hospital is comprised of a very patient and knowledgeable team. The staff were very friendly and organized, making my cats' visits as stress free as possible. Their care and enthusiasm for pet health is just what every pet parent is looking for.
Have been able to walk in and be seen without waiting long, as well as schedule convenient appointments. The veternerians and the vet techs are all extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Rates are reasonable as well.
Kingston Animal Hospital is the best only place I take my fur babies
Dr. Alden is great!!
I've only been a customer for a year but I have had great experiences with the staff who are very friendly, caring, and knowledgeable . The receptionists have made it very easy to get in for an appointment around my work schedule, and the text message reminders are very helpful! The doctor and assistants take the time to explain things and most importantly are gentle, kind and patient with my cat during the visit. Highly recommended team!!!
I've taken three of my five cats there, we are new in town. Welcoming, the techs seem to know what they are doing and know what's happened. Dr. Tucker has been very knowledgeable and personable. Getting my youngest one through some strange fever with no visible cause.
Staff and vets always put my concerns at ease.I love Kingston animal hospital!
Very nice and they took my dog in as a new patient on a Saturday!
Second time they have screwed up on my appointment Went there for no reason when they scheduled the appointment and they told me that I didn’t need to come Very disappointed
Knowledgeable staff and a clean and pleasant facility.
Wonderful staff, great clinic! Dr. Alden is fantastic and the nurses take great care of our cats!
I've been with kingston animal hospital for 4 years. They started off great but have drastically gone down hill as far as care, and professionalism, attitude ,prices and they will not adapt to any issues you may have with billing, can't pay monthly no payment arrangement. Every time I have to bring my pets there it costs me 100 of dollars to do a simple grooming or check up. I would definitely not recommend going here. My cat got sick, I took her there and after having to pay 586.00 to access her. They then charged me 500 to put her down! They take advantage of customers as far as I'm concerned! They want 400 to sedate and groom my cat ! Unreal
Great practice with talented and dedicated vets.
They took care of my cat and I was very pleased with the results.
Very nice people
There are very good with all animal
I was very happy at the immediate Professional attention my cat received considering I had an emergency without an appointment. I was expecting the worse but was so very happy as she was immediately treated and was allowed to return back home. Depending on the blood work Results tomorrow, she hopefully will be with us for a while longer. She is 15 years old.
I had an emergency with my dog, longstory short they gave me a $500 I dont no wats wrong with your dog. With a phone number to another vet that did the same to a specialist who said if u want us to help with him we need to start u off at $3800. To having to call KAH again for another $500. They r stealing money from ppl, no value or morals with no real work or help. Ur guys are a thieving joke not an animal hospital.
We couldn't be happier with Kingston Animal Hospital! We wouldn't bring Maggie Mae to any other Veterinarian. Dr. Alden is outstanding as well as the other doctors that have treated our baby. The staff truly seem to care about Maggie Mae, I like how they fuss over her like she's special to them! Thank you all. Tom & Betty McCormack
My cat Lola is losing weight. They took bloods on Monday, sent out to Antech and Friday told me they only had the T4 back, not the chemscreen. I know Antech, they are usually 24 hours turnaround for usual bloodwork. Then I went in this afternoon and asked for the meds prescribed by the vet in her phone message this morning and they weren't ready. I left after 15 minutes...
Have two small dogs each time I take them Hospital they are very well cared for
Jessica the tech assistant is wonderful! Our first time with Dr. Enkler and she is excellent. Everyone is this clinic in my experience is caring, competent, upbeat, pleasant and wonderful communicators.
I brought my dog in on Monday. He had had a fall. He was walking uncomfortably but they said there were no fractures that it could be a soft tissue injury and gave me pain meds. He seemed worse over the course of the week so I brought him in again on Thursday. They said he tested positive for lyme. They gave me antibiotics and had to carry him out to my car because he could no longer walk. He died this morning. I believe KAH was negligent. If my dog had to be carried out he clearly was not in good condition. They should have administered better care or sent him somewhere that could help him.
It was the first I had been there and they treated you like you used them for years. I would recommend them highly.
We have brought our animals here for over 30 years. There are vets closer to us, but no better care for our beloved family members.
GREAT PLACE TO BRING YOUR PET. ALL THE VETS ARE WONDERFUL !
Very nice and professional. They listen and very helpful. Trustworthy.
I've been pleased in general with Kingston Animal Hospital over the past several years, but a recent incident made me question if I want to continue or change vets. I brought my cat for a well checkup with Dr. Rugg a few months ago and I mentioned that she had been drinking a lot more water than usual for about a month or so. She will only eat dry food, so I was concerned that she might be diabetic but Dr. Rugg didn't address this. He seemed very much in a hurry and I felt rushed with my questions--I realize I could have directly asked him if she was diabetic but I didn't. She also has irritable bowel disease and I also had questions about that at the same time.
I brought my dog there yesterday because he couldn’t stop reverse sneezing. I asked for an X-ray they denied me and said it wasn’t necessary. They continued to tell me it was just severe reverse sneezing. I brought him to a regular vet today to find out that wasn’t the case at all. I did only spend $115 but that was because they refused to do anything else on him. I asked 5 times for a X-ray , come to find out A little infection in his lungs definitely his nose and they gave me antibiotics and steroid to reduce inflammation from my regular vet. The emergency clinic are a bunch of crooks and they don’t care about your animals. They are the type to tell you to kill your dog instead of trying to help them. Thank god my mother went with her instincts and took him elsewhere. I will be disputing my payment as well.
July 3 brought my dog in, they did blood work, and was told they would call on Monday with the results. After several attempts to contact about the results Where I was told that the doctor will call. Here it is 9 days later, and we get a phone call to go over the results, and they can give meds. In the mean time we were advised differently. So thanks for the timely call.
Thank you to the staff and Dr. They were caring and very kind to me and my 6 year old cat. I was able to get my appointment the same day. Highly recommended.
My First experience with Kingston Animal Hospital years ago was positive. I can't say that for recent. 6 visits for a surgery normally costing 3 to 400. Seeming clueless to every visit prior, cost me 1500 with complications of allergic reactions to their equipment and services. I'm honestly disappointed in this place. Stay away unless its a life or death emergency "Response from the owner a week ago We regret that you were so disappointed in your recent experience at our hospital. We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally about your concerns." I asked to speak with people countless times. "The Doctor will call you" I asked to speak before care was done. "The Doctor will call you" I asked to know how much this will cost. "Someone will talk to you about it" You want to talk now..... This seems to be a common complaint across all bad comments with this place. Lack of communication and sheisty upselling. We all understand covid made thigs different but that doesn't mean you cut the people out. 50$ Bluetooth headset and the doctor could talk to pet owners while caring? Too much extra work for you eh? You like this no interaction BS better
I felt rushed through my appt...Doctor didmt spend much time with us...prices are extremely high..looking for another vet..
I have taken my dogs to the Kingston Animal Hospital for several years. They have always received very good care and attention.
I’ve been coming here for 20 years, and sadly it is not what it used to be...at all. Dr. Rugg has been amazing to our family over the years, but the new owner (I’d LOVE to know who you are since it’s so elusive and they are never there) is running a shifty, nickel & dime you to death, operation at best. I addition to incredibly poor service when challenged with heartfelt questions or reluctance of any kind... they are becoming creative to trap you into more services. Apparently NOW (first I’ve heard of it this week) dogs must be seen every 6 months for checkups to receive scheduled (yearly or 3 years for most) vaccines. Why on earth do my dogs (and I currently have 3 rescues) have to come twice a year to receive vaccines that are good for at LEAST a year? If a pet is ill, that is understandable. But for routine? You see, we are traveling unexpectedly and I was told if my dogs needed a Bordatella vaccine they would need ANOTHER exam! They were seen March 29th (so almost April), May, and August. It’s January!! This is just another ploy to make more money. I’m constantly bombarded with vaccines that many dogs don’t need, treatments that are unproven, and extra services that are just not necessary. I come in asking for what is the industry standard of care and maintenance, but am pressured into a guilt speech of not doing what’s best for my animals. I don’t think so. I’ve been involved in Rescue for again, almost 20 years. I’m well aware what is necessary and what is frivolous. That may work on timid or less educated consumers, but not me. I care deeply for all animals and especially those that are my responsibility. But I am not a wealthy woman, nor do I think it’s at all healthy to bombard an animals natural immune system with so much if it is not truly needed (there are cases and examples for different situations, not “one size fits all” as presented). Furthermore, record keeping, customer service, and patronizing or demeaning communication runs rampant. These new folks barely know my name, regardless of the animals background. Just today, I was belligerently told that a clerical error I have been challenging since October was actually not even there fault. I’m done. My pets deserve better and so do yours. I’m not sure where I’m headed, but I miss the days when Doc Rugg ran this place and it wasn’t just an impersonal money making racket that doesn’t put any value on customer service or the best interest of your pet. It’s a sad day of eye opening proportions that has been a long time coming now since new ownership. Farewell Dr. Rugg. You were the best. ???? DON’T GO HERE!!! You’re pets deserve better.
Dr. Alden is professional and intuitive. We highly value her veterinary expertise.
I like be this place, staff and doctors really care about your animals and you! They have shown empathy and compassion to all my pets/family members and to me during regular visits and crisis. My little tiny Simba and I are so appreciative of all their help!
Thank you Kingston Animal Hospital! Very accommodating to our dog's emergency needs when we could not get into any other local vet as quickly. Cared for and monitored him over two days with no previous appointments and being a new patient. Caring and compassionate, informative and very helpful. We highly recommend and have found our new vet as well. Thanks again!!
Dr Turner stole my Puppy Cali Dream. I spent 550 dollar here after Cali was diagnosed with parvovirus. She was okay after the first visit with Dr. Alden, then was sick due to low blood sugar. After leaving my puppy with Dr turner I was told my dog was okay to come home however my mom was running late to pick her up and they were closed by time she arrived. I called back first thing in the morning when I got off work and they told me she was too sick to come home. They said that Dr Turner would call me back, which she never did. I called back just to see how she was doing and they told me I can’t have her back because she was abandoned. And that Dr Turner had taken her home overnight. I just lost my dog after 15yrs on 6/15/21 and just want my Cali back.
Caring and professional environment. Saved my cat from having to be euthanized with help from private donor recommended by the office.
Have Been dealing a long time with KAH/ slightly expensive but their work on Animals can not be of any higher quality, they really are concerned, and do the best they can in bringing your animal back to normal I highly recommend KAH if you have animal problems. They have a very friendly staff to deal with . (10)
We love this place. The people are kind and considerate. The prices are fair and the care and follow up are excellent.
The vet was so nice and friendly to my fur baby! Mike at the front desk is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Great staff!
I've been coming here for decades!Doc Tremper is the BEST !The staff is awesome ,compassionate and courteous!!The level of care that my animal family has been given is UNFAILINGLY SUPERIOR!!I I PUT ALL MY TRUST IN THEM TO GIVE MY DEAR PETS THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF CARE!!THEY HAVE NEVER FAILED TO DO THIS!!
The Kingston Animal Hospital and Dr. Chun were awesome. I just had the most professional and expert care for my cat Eve that I ever had at the Vet Thank you
update to previous post. Groomer was very helpful in rectifying my concerns. She did a great job and would definitely bring my dog to her again. I will say it is important to speak with her directly because it seems like things get lost in translation by dropping your pet off in the parking lot and telling the tech to tell the groomer. I'm sure things will get better when you can actually drop your dog off inside but all in all I'm very happy with how things turned out
Very kind to Animals and their parents. They have always been there for my animals and families animals in times of need.
(Translated) Heavy Drs! (Original) Grea Drs!
Love Dr. Rugg. He's a terrific diagnostician and the office is well-run. Thanks.
Kingston animal hospital saved my baby girl Cali from a very bad bacteria that almost took her from me!! Bri was so understanding, helpful, & supportive. I’m very happy I brought my puppy to them! Thank you again Kingston Animal Hospital for saving my Cali girl !!!
I can not say enough about the staff here.. I will never take my doggies anywhere else
I am so indebted to the team here who got me through pet passport health certificate drama to travel to France . Always a smile from each member and my cats are purring with thanks
My experiences at Kingston Animal Hospital have always been a positive experience. I have had other animals in my life that have been treated there and they have always gone above and beyond my expectations. Currently I have a Cavapoo puppy named Ruby. I have NEVER had an animal that absolutely LOVES going there. I got her in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, and as an 8 week old puppy had to go in without me. She is now almost 11 months old. She gets so excited as soon as we pull into the parking lot, can't wait till it's her turn. She loves everybody there. Whether it's a shot or grooming she comes out happy and I can tell by her demeanor they've been loving on her and she loves them back. I trust them and I am so glad my dog does too. They have always been there for me to answer any questions, and guide me in the best interest of her health. Thank you to all of you for your care & dedication you ALL show every day. Love Ruby K
I have been so happy with all the techs they love my dog & are very sweet with her Dr Alden knows her dogs & is so sweet with my dog & that makes me very happy & she is very knowledgeable about questions I ask & nothing is immaterial to her thank u look forward to hopefully seeing u next time
The staff is amazing. Even after we moved out of Kingston we still bring all 3 dogs there.
My pet, Happy the cat, is very well treated by all staff, when she attends her yearly annual exam.
I was in this morning with my lil one, Kakashi, and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming! This is my first vet visit here in NY since moving and all the positive reviews definitely pointed me into the right direction! Thanks for all the playing and cuddles with my lil one to make him feel more comfortable with his first visit! You guys rock! ????????
Great people.
Twice now I've been told, *after* my pet received a brief, routine service, that due to their own work schedules this had been performed by a vet rather than the usual tech, and so it would cost me more than twice as much. Wouldn't work with me at all on price. Be absolutely sure, before you hand over your animal, who will be doing the service.
I was visiting the area with my senior pup. She developed a limp and was clearly in pain. They were able to fit her in the same day! Right before July 4th too! Within a few hours my little one was on medications and feeling better. Everyone from the receptionist to the vet tech and Doctor was a delight to interact with!
Excellent place for all my pets needs. Both grooming and checkups. Staff is fantastic!
Overall and ok experience but really wish they were better at communicating. Dropped my dog off at 9am for an emergency visit as he wasn’t eating or drinking for 2 days, was throwing up, and coughing. Was told at 11am the dr would call me when she was done with the animal she was seeing (giving me the impression my pup was already seen by the dr). Then had to call back at 12:30 because I never got a call and was told I would be contacted at 1 because it was lunch break. Then finally was told upon my 3rd call to them at 2pm he was just then being seen by the dr!!!! The communication was horrible!!! I work in an emergency room and still was able to call them 3 times but did NOT receive a single call updating me on how my dog was doing. Being I can’t speak to any staff face to face or be with my dog while he’s being seen I think communication with pet parents needs to be improved. Luckily my little guy is ok and doing better. Was diagnosed by Dr. Turner with an upper respiratory infection and reverse sneezing likely caused by allergies or an irritant. She sent home very clear instructions along with antibiotics, cough medicine, and an anti inflammatory. Before covid met with Dr. Turner for other animals of mine and she was fabulous. Just really wish I didn’t need to wait 6 hours and make 3 phone calls just to find out that my dog was ok. Bottom line the facility really needs to work on communication!
Excellent vet .. I am so thankful to have such a great vet for my furbaby
The only place and people to trust the health and welfare of your pets with. Dr. Rugg is a saint!
Friendly staff, great doctors, only criticism, and because it happened to me more than once, I find you tend to sit and wait. More than once I had an appointment time and had to sit for 45 min before we were seen by doctor.
I loved the new overall appearance of outside landscaping & inside flooring, seating, walls & organization. The staff is truly excellent at making me feel comfortable & taken care of. There was one major setback. Checking in at one specific area was fine. Then at checkout it used to be the area closest to leaving the exam rooms. And then it was VERY INCONVENIENT & AKWARD to move to the complete opposite side and around the corner to get checked out. Holding our cat, we had to maneuver awkwardly past 2 dogs. This needs to be addressed. Everything else was great
Great friendly staff! My Shepard was scared and defensive and the vet didn't get scared and knew just how to handle it
We have been taking our 3 dogs here for 3 years,my girl who was going on 9 passed this weekend in our arms ,the vet who treated her did not review or ignored the radiology report and told us our pup had Lepto ,that a few days of IV ABT and hopefully she would improve we were hopefully till the weekend vet called us and said she should of had a blood transfusion on Thursday and why didn't we know this and she was transferring her to the emergency clinic,we went and got her rushed her to the clinic to be told that first they did not do transfusions and second the vet who called said we refused to take her to Gardner animal hospital, this was the first we heard of that hospital ,we obviously were not refusing treatments after spending $1300 in the last 2 days at the vet ,she may not have been able to be saved but her last few days could have been happier not spent in a cage getting meds that wouldn't help ,we're heartbroken.
Thr staff and the drs are great they also take the time to great my dog who loves all of them
I brought my newly adopted cat, Marvin to the Hospital for his checkup and found the services to be very reliable, the staff to be friendly and careful with Marvin. Now I am taking him in for grooming and plan to keep him healthy so we can grow old together!
I needed a same day appointment for my dog who is also a new patient and they were able to fit me in and were all super nice! They are affordable as well!
Great place and staff. Dr. Winkler is the best. Our little rescue needed some relief from itching when we got her. Dr. Winkler helped her almost immediately and handled her so gently.
I would have given 5 stars but, not any fault of yours, I hate dropping off Mojo in the parking lot. I want to go in with her. That includes the hospital the night before. The next day she behaved and acted like nothing at all had happened. She's back to herself 100%. Thank you!
Excellent care! Thank you!
So personable and flexible with our needs.
