Don't go here! I currently go to Cataroqui/Amherstview Pet Hospital and am leaving. We have had bad experiences with Dr. Keller and Dr. Cote. Dr. Keller yelled at my mother because we wouldn't put our cat down but wanted to try a treatment option first. Dr. Cote bullies me and treats me like an idiot. She has told me on numerous occasions that my dog will die and it will be my fault because I didn't get her spayed even though I haven't been able to get her spayed yet because her heat cycle is too frequent. She wouldn't take my concerns seriously and instead of checking my animal over she just told me about all the dogs that die of pyometras even though my dog doesn't have a pyometra! Don't go to Cataroqui Pet Hospital or Amherstview Pet Hospital!

Been using this pet hospital for 25 years. Dr. Tim Keller has built a great environment for your pets. I have full confidence in Dr. Keller and his staff. They also have a grooming area as well as Urban Paws Pet Foods.

I truly do not know where to begin with the horror of my experience at this place. My dog injured himself and he was not putting weight on his one leg so we took him in for x-rays. The ones done only identified that there were no broken bones when they should have been looking at ligaments as well, we were then told he needed a splint. The day I brought him in to be splinted I had my two year old son, anyone with kids knows how stressful it can be to be handling your toddler plus your dog who cant walk properly and pulling on a leash. The vet Dr. Matyas picked up on the stress and when she entered the room didn't discuss the splint but instead thought it was her place to tell me I shouldn't have my dog and that I really should consider re-homing him because he needs more attention. She also had the nerve to ask me why I even wanted him. After her lecture she then asks me if I want to go ahead with the splint, I say yes and leave. Later that afternoon Dr. Matyas calls me to give me the update of Duke. She tells me she believes (without any further x-rays) that its Carpel Luxation and that there are two different types of surgery one costing $4,500 the other $5,500 and it would need to be done in Toronto by a special surgeon. I was shocked by the price and told her that we dont have the money. Without hesitation she informs me my other options are to give him to the humane society or compassionate euthanization and says we have literally one day to think about it because the surgery HAS to be done the following week. I spent the rest of the day balling my eyes out thinking I had no other choice but to put him down. I had a gut feeling not to trust this woman because I knew she didnt want me to have him the second she walked in the room to begin with so I took him for a second opinion at a different hospital. This other hospital was our saving grace, they performed the proper x-rays that should have been done the first time by Cataraqui Pet Hospital. They then sent the x-rays to a surgeon to be absolutely sure of their findings and sure enough that it was that he DID NOT need surgery or to even be in a splint. That it was a small fracture (really bad sprain) and it would heal in time on its own. I almost euthanized my dog because of this idiot woman Dr. Malyas and her pig headed opinions. I'm writing this review so others can be warned of her and to save their pets, it makes me wonder how many innocent animals lives have already been taken. I will NEVER be taking any of my pets to this place again, I'll be seeing what other actions can be done as well. Do yourself a favour and find a new vet if you already go here and if you dont please do not bring your pets to her!

I've been going to this vet for a year and a half now with my two dogs and I always leave feeling extremely frustrated. The vets are rude, they criticize my training tools and give misinformation on how to properly use them, and I feel as if I am always being lectured to about the choices I make for my dogs. Going to this vet is uncomfortable and awkward as they always feel the need to give me a stern talking to because I raw feed and use natural flea and tick remedies. I am perfectly okay with people having a difference in opinion, but what I DO NOT appreciate is being belittled and told off for my choices. I have never had a vet speak to me so disrespectfully for having a difference in opinion. Not only are they rude, but TWICE I have been turned away during an emergency situation because they don't have room. Yet, that does not seem to ever be an issue for any other vet I've had to contact because they won't take me in. They are unreliable and unprofessional and I am done wasting my money on them.

I can't rave about this office and Dr. Keller, in particular, enough. He sensitively helped us with end-of-life care for our ancient poodle, and didn't run unnecessary or expensive tests and procedures. Compared to vets we'd seen locally before finding Dr. Keller, we saved a bundle and actually got better care. Recently Dr. Keller has been caring for our new puppy who has hip and seizure problems. Again, Dr. Keller listens, observes very astutely, and uses his experience and common sense to provide affordable and fantastic care. He'd better not be planning to retire any time soon!!! (okay, Dr. Keller?)

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ! My next door neighbor"s cat was extremely sick and my neighbor was struggling financially. I was willing to pay the tab to but him down . He was clearly in a lot of pain and struggling to breathe . I left my distraught neighbor in the car while her cat and I went in to speak with the receptionist . Side note * I had been working outside all day and didn't have a chance to shower or clean up. My neighbor was waiting at my door for me . The cat was suffering & we had to act fast. The receptionist at Cataraqui Pet Hospital greeted me with a nasty look. It was obvious she had a preconceived notion because of how I was dressed . She would not allow me to speak ! She was RUDE & JUDGEMENTAL . She interrupted me numerous times ....She spoke over me.... ABSOLUTELY NO EMPATHY ALL! She spoke in a sarcastic , condescending, tone . . I just wanted to find out if they could put the cat down. I didn't care about $$ but this individual would not hear me out. She was fixated on something that was not even an issue! It was close to closing time, I think she wanted to lock up and a dieing cat would slow down the process on her. My neighbor and I both agreed that we did not want her poor cats very last experience with a human to be with THAT "lady." As we were headed to Princess St Hospital , the cat passed away on my lap. USE CATARAQUI. ANIMAL HOSPITAL AT YOUR OWN RISK! -5 STAR RATING

A month or so ago I decided to take the plunge and invest in my cat, Macaroon’s, overall health and well-being, by having him undergo a dental cleaning in addition to having several much needed dental extractions. As I’ve heard all but too many times the numerous health benefits of the procedure…. I was not adequately prepared for the extreme life changing transformation I was about to witness… from start to finish and tip to tail, Mac, was shown the utmost respect, care and kindness by not just one but all of the Cataraqui Pet Hospital staff. His gifted surgeon and trusted ally, Doctor Paine, spearheaded his delicate procedure and ensured both Mac and I were both at ease. The support staff were there by her and my side every step of the way, they treated us like family, qualities in care hard to find anymore. Mac is a changed man, my once timid and reclusive shy boy, now plays, he purrs with even a glance in his direction, he has more energy, is more affectionate and attentive to his big sister Kanga and my heart could not be smiling any bigger being able to watch him grow and thrive all thanks to his Cataraqui Pet Hospital furrmily. I give them not only ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for quality of service but also ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for immeasurable value of care, passion, dedication and talent.

My recent experience with this vet clinic is that they went over and above to help me and my Freyja. Kierstin was especially helpful -it was freyja's first trip to the vet ( though my family and i have used their clinic for decades) . Freyja was very very nervous and keirstin , Dr. Paine, and her assistant worked within Freyjas comfort level explaining to me my options thoroughly when it came to treatment. Thank you very much to the team. We both got through it thanks to so many of you.

My experience at the Cataraqui Pet Hospital was incredible! The receptionist, veterinarians and assistants were so welcoming, kind and informative. I brought in my miniature schnauzer puppy to get spayed, and she was given so much love and care. Not even a month later and her incision healed so well, you can’t even tell she got fixed! The procedure itself was expensive, but I think it’s a pretty standard price across Kingston. Definitely worth every penny. She was given medication for multiple days after the fact, a preventative cone and a free follow-up appointment a week later. I would recommend this vet clinic to all dog owners who really need that peace of mind... Your pup is in good hands!

I live in Montreal and my boy Rufus was very sick and needed an emergency surgery to remove a tumor from his intestine. No vets in Montreal were helpful. My sister RVT Cassie Hunter told me to have his info faxed over to the staff at Cataraqui. I recieved a call from Caroline one of vets and she explained everything to me. She told me that both her and Dr. Bouchard were looking at the file. I managed to book an appointment for the monday at a vet in quebec, but found out they were prepping for Tuesday.. Unfortunately my boy passed away in his sleep. Thank you for your help and for your compassion. Amazing vets and staff.

Hello, I’d like to say this is my first review I’ve ever left. I’ve never taken the time to do such a thing, although I believe my experiences should be shared! I’ve been attending Cataraqui pet hospital for Over 20 (5 dogs) years paying thousands & thousands of dollars. As of recently I have seen the poorest level of customer service & lack fo knowledge I’ve experienced. In December I was turned away at the door when my dog was bleeding from his paw & clearly in pain. Telling me They need 24hr notice ( 45 mins before close & everyone was just cleaning) February I made an appointment. my dog was constantly itching. I was told it was allergy’s without any diagnosis or solution, later finding out through another veterinary service it was in-fact mange & required treatment! Today (June) I attempted to get an EMERGENCY veterinary appointment after my dog broke his k9 & is discomforted & in Pain. They showed 0 concern for the well-being of my dog & simply said we’re booking 2 weeks out right now” I asked if we could get pain meds & referral to The specialist in Ottawa or Toronto & they’ve failed to help me in anyways! I truly don’t understand how someone could willingly let an animal suffer when they have the capability to help! Very disappointing! My Words of advice to Cataraqui... stop accepting new clients if you can’t service the existing customers Side note.... lanes vet, Sydenhamvet, Fairfield vet all offered to take my dog in RIGHT AWAY after calling
