I was here about 8 months ago with a pregnant cat. The doctor said she couldn't be. I really felt like the dude was only interested in rushing us through to see his next appointment. A few weeks later kittens popped out so obviously doc was hella wrong and my initial judgemental impression of him was quite accurate. If I could rate zero stars I would.

I have been taking our pets here for about 15 years and have always experienced a high level of care and service. I had one minor incident when the new Dr took over the practice, but after discussing it with the Office Manager it was resolved very quickly. Their rates are also quite reasonable.

I've been taking my pup here for 5 years and Dr. Harvinder and his team have always been so friendly and caring. You can tell they really care about all the animals that come through their door. Their online booking and reminder system is really convenient, too. They are very reasonably priced and put your pet before profit. I loved that they offer (or offered? it's been a while) a puppy package that included everything you needed in the first year of your pup's life—shots, spay/neuter, etc.—at a really great price.

I have been coming to Sherbrook Animal Hositpal for over 10 years. The receptionist was so cold to me when I got stuck on St Mary's traffic on my way there...I paid otheblate fee course and still waited in my car. The way they asked me to pay before releasing my cat was atrocious. Forget it I'm finding another Vetrinarians Office to build a more approachable environment. My kitty has meds and I'm just very sad at the unprofessional way I was talked to.

I recently moved to the west end and got a kitten. I was looking for a local vet that I could rely on. I looked at the reviews for Sherbrook and they were correct - it’s a great vet! COVID makes everything more complicated but they were easy to work with while keeping themselves and their customers safe I wasn’t sure if there would be good parking but fortunately I could park on the street out front. I’m very happy with their care and will continue to use their services. I’m glad, also, to support a vet and business in the area. Thanks again!

I hate to give an animal hospital low ratings, but taking my cat to Sherbrook made me deeply uncomfortable due to the lack of professionalism. My cat is chronically ill so he has recurring issues--my biggest concern is always his diet, and I feed kibble and wet food of specific flavors to avoid upsetting his stomach. When I told the vet I found blood in his stool (twice) he dismissed it as "stress", and kept pushing oral care kibble on me although I already brush my cat's teeth frequently and the ingredients in most oral care food triggers stomach problems. The vet did not want to help me at all with trying a rotational diet or different types of food. The other huge red flag for me was both the staff and vet not being familiar with my cat, in the sense that when I left him for a day-long procedure they didn't know what he was in for. I'm already very protective of my cat due to his chronic illness, and feel incredibly anxious leaving him in the hands of a vet who might do the wrong procedure on him. It's very easy to tell when vets truly care and want to spend time with clients figuring out remedies, vs. vets who just want clients gone as soon as possible. I wanted to keep Sherbrook as my main vet since they're nearby, but for my peace of mind I will have to go somewhere else.

In regards to their knowledge on kittens I give them 2 stars. They told me kittens don't have solid poops due to lack of fibre. Another place told me Kittens and cats don't take fibre. Kittens can also start on a set of de-wormer at 2 wks (forgot the brand) they said not till 4wks. They don't know what they are talking about. But for my older cat they were great helped him and knew the problem before tests came back. Expensive prices though.

Got our male cat neutered here. The staff were friendly and kind. They seem to have done a good job, so far (day 2) there haven't been any issues. Their Wednesday Special for fixing your cat is a pretty good deal. You get the procedure, first vaccinations, tattoo, and Elizabeth Collar all for $97 for male cats. I believe female cats are around $130. I would definitely recommend this animal hospital. Edited on September 2, 2020. They no longer have the Wednesday Special.

The vet is super nice, provides explanations for any treatment, medication, or food your pet may need. I've been going here for years with my furbaby Venus. Staff are great and always appear to be in a happy mood despite the pandemic (which they thankfully stayed open for pet medical emergencies). Would highly recommend them.

Well. I am very disappointed and I'm taking my dog to another doctor starting today. When a doctor is being asked about dog's eye, looking at it, telling us that its an irritation from a hair around it and that's it, calls it an examination and charges 60$ I'm out of the clinic. Robbery in a day light. Sorry but not sorry. I'm giving the clinic 2 and not 1 because we spayed our dog there and it went ok. This is the only reason.

Well I should have waited for a few days before I wrote my first review because (Tank) my cat had a cone on his head for weeks and when I brought him home after a re- check with his cone off he scratched his ear and made it bleed a little but since then he has yet to touch his ears and it seems as though the problem is gone.I am very pleased with the work theses doctors did. They were so nice to me and my little buddy. I will recommend this place to my friends and family. Thank you for your help. I just wish family doctors and their staff would treat me as well as my fur babies are treated at the Sherbrook Animal Hospital. The vet and his staff are wonderful, caring, knowledgeable. They not only know my dogs’ names but they know mine also. They practice true family medicine.

Everyone here is caring, empathetic and I have had nothing but positive experiences every time I have been. Even found baby raccoons once and Pembina hospital rudely told me to leave them to die basically, but Sherbrook was very helpful and gave me 2 phone numbers for places that would help the baby critters. Been taking my small dog to this clinic for years. They are very nice and upfront about everything. Owning a animal is expensive but Sherbrook is much more reasonable then other places. That is why i ended up there. My dog is not aggressive but he also defends himself when they want to do things to him. They never complained and are always wanting the best for my pooch.

We brought our dog in to get checked by Dr. Harvinder Hirkewal as she hadn't been eating for a couple days. The very first thing the Dr. asked before any examination was "What are your expectations, do you want to treat her?" Which was quite frustrating as that was the obvious purpose of bringing her in. After and during a few tests he talked very insensitively about our dog, and told the assistant that "She was lucky, there's not many cases like this." without telling us what was going on. We had to put her to sleep since she had cancer in her liver. And after getting the news we were forced to ask a series of hard questions like determining how long we had because he wouldn't give us a straight answer. We asked to have her nails cut and he said "Is there a point?", we wanted to make sure she was comfortable her last days with us. He was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose her properly. And the staff working were very kind to us and our dog. Yet our experience made so uncomfortable that we didn't want to bring her back. We went to Pembina Vet Hospital, where we received sympathy and sensitivity.

While the veterinarians and staff have changed over the years, they have a tradition of care and tenderness that is constant. Dr Hirkewal and his staff are kind, respectful, and considerate of the feelings of their patients' families as well as their patients. I recommend this clinic to everyone who is looking for a clinic for their pets: you can trust this one.

*I don’t normally complain but...*This place needs new receptionists or the current ones need to get their act together. Unfriendliness and lack of enthusiasm aside, what really grinds my gears is when I’m told different things by different people who answer the phone or talk with me at the counter. On the phone I’m told I can leave my cat there for the day, then when I get there, I’m told I can’t (btw, I’m on my way to work at this point), then after waiting am told normally I can’t but they’d make an exception. Next, I go there to order cat food and they tell me they’d write a note to the person who does the ordering and that the food would arrive on Friday. Then I get a call saying I need to go back and pre-pay. When I complain about having to come back just to re-order, I get a weak excuse - and no apology. These are simple matters made complicated and annoying and need to be fixed ASAP.

We brought our dog in for a minor urinary issue. after the vet recommend food & meds she was constipated for 4+ weeks and developed hives. He shaved an excessive patch of fur off her perscribed more meds and a high fibre dog food he sells. The dog food pellets were far to large for her mouth and so hard I could bearly crack them with the handle of a screwdriver on an oak doorframe and resulted in her breaking a tooth. When we brought her back he only wanted to blame my gf which caused her to come home crying and gave us an estimate for $600 to correct the broken tooth which directly resulted from his recommendation. Over the last 9 weeks things have gone from bad to worse after taking her to see him and he's all to happy to continue rolling out bills to correct the various ailments that develope from his treatments. Do yourself and your beloved pet a favour and take them to a real vet.

Will never take another pet there and will not ever recommend them to anyone. Brought my cat in with scratching ear problems and was definitely looked down upon for not getting him in sooner, if you vets didn't charge so much then perhaps some slightly lower income people could afford a regular visit. They cleaned his ears, took some swabs and long story short he had a bad ear infection so he got drops...$250 later was told by the vet who walked into another room but not before turning his back on me and screaming 'and your cat is deaf too'. My cat was not deaf, I called his name and he looked right at me. Took him back for a re-check and his ears were clearing up but vet wanted to check to see if he was diabetic, most likely to get more money out of me so another $300 for the exam and blood work and came back to say his sugars were high but didn't know if he was diabetic. Said to finish drops and that he couldn't do anything more for him. Horrible vet clinic and even worse vet i have ever encountered, never again!

I was so nervous to take my dog Luna to a new vet, But I am so glad that I chose Sherbrook! Luna is such a nervous dog, and I muzzle her at the vet just to be safe. The staff was all so accommodating and calm, and I loved that I was able to be involved so much in the exam room, taking lots of pressure off of my girl and myself! I brought in a deceased cat I found. The girl asked if she could help me. I said I wanted to drop off the little one so they weren't just left on the sidewalk. She asked if I was going to pay for the cremation. I said no, I was just dropping her off. The girl said if I was a patient, they would cremate, but because I wasn't, they couldn't help me and turned me away. So much for saying on your website that you are caring. This was my first and last experience with your office.

I been going to them for about 4 years. My cat is fairly healthy so I mostly do just annual visits with general exam + booster shot. They sent out reminders via mail + text which is nice. I got dental care with sedation for her which she ended up needing a canine pulled, she recovered well and Dr. H phoned the day after to check up on her. Overall I like this vet, their space is very tiny though, the waiting room is very small, keep that in mind if you have nervous or excitable pets.

Poor experience- We just wanted the best for our little boy as he went in for surgery- Receptionist was extremely unpleasant- Sherry was her name i think? Wouldn't let me see my dog whimpering in the back because he heard my voice- said "could you just go sit down for a minute and then shut the door to the back. She was rude when it came to paying- unable to fill out the form of his vaccination for me.. "because we didn't tell her we needed it... "why wouldnt we need it its our dog- lol. Boyfriend also found her rude on separate occasion- Wont be going back there. Floors with dirty, located in a small outdated dingy feeling house- Bad vibes in there overall.

There was a small situation that was a bit stressful . It took at least three times to find a vein . This was due to low blood pressure. We have been going to Sherbrook Animal Hospital for over eight years. Dr. Shiraz Juma was our vet for my mother's dog and then, when we got our two dogs, we stayed at Sherbrook. Now, Dr. Herkewal looks after our two mini-schnauzers. He is always kind, informative, gentle and caring. I have phoned in on many occasions, asking questions and getting information and they are always willing to take the time to help me. We recommend them very highly!

Have taken my dog here for a couple of years with no problem. Friday morning she has an ear infection and needs drops.they are too busy for an appt. I get that they are booked but they are more than willing to take my money for vitamins and shots but are too busy to even dispense drops for am animal in distress??. I have moved to a vet that actually cares about the welfare of the animals.
