I took my puppy here for the first time to get his second set of needles. When we first arrived the staff seemed welcoming and very helpful. Upon meeting the vet I was made to feel like I wasn't doing anything right for my pup. It was a cold experience. After the check up and needles, we proceeded to pay and the desk staff were also cold and rude. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, although the prices are good.

We brought our dog in after he escaped the yard and had a run in with a car. He was seen quickly and received excellent care. Ended up being prescribed pain medication he didn't need, but he was well cared for!

My wife and I brought in our 15 year old pug last Thursday (Nov. 22) because we had noticed that she had blood in her urine and was unable to use her back legs. Once we got there my wife was visibly upset and had mentioned that our dog's eyes were starting to glaze over, which is not a good sign. The vet said she needed to do bloodwork and get an X-ray done. She came in after the tests and said that our dog had a severe UTI and that we needed antibiotics and fluids. She injected our dog with the antibiotic and fluids. The antibiotic would last 14 days since it was an injection. After she did that she assured us that our dog will start to behave like herself the next day. Well, she didn't. She didn't make it through the night. I feel like she just wanted our money because we were vulnerable and willing to do whatever we can to make our dog feel better. A vet should've known that a 15 year old pug with a severe infection wouldn't have made it. I will never go to Machray Animal Hospital again and I will not recommend them to anyone.

My dog is 3 y.o and been coming here since puppy days. My pup is well and alive because of this clinic. We come here for regular check pups as well. Last year my pup was puking everything he ate, they did an xray and found a corn cob. They advised to bring him to emergency right away, which we did. Pembina Vet had to cut him open the next day and performed a surgery. When my dog got home after surgery, Machray still called a few times to follow up and see how my pup was recovering. Few days ago my dog was puking again. I was worried that there's an obstruction like last year so I brought him in for xray. I called on a Saturday, no appointment. They didn't have available spots but still asked me to drop off my pup right away. I picked him up after couple of hours (they did 2 xrays). Next day, he stopped puking and everything looks normal. 2 days later he had diarrhea. Good timing Machray called again to check on my pup after the long weekend and told them about the diarrhea. Dr. Hill called me back and prescribed antibiotics which I was able to pick up right away. It was nothing to be worried too much about since xray was almost clear. Vets and their staff are very friendly and professional, they truly care about our furry friends. I'm not going anywhere else. Woofyou.

We've had a few dogs that had cancer and spine issues and Dr. McDonell has been so kind, understanding and motivated to find the best treatment plan for each dog, while understanding my budgetary restrictions. They have great covid practices in place as well.

My family and I have been taking our dogs to this animal hospital since they were babies. However, after multiple tests, medicine and suggested shampoos for 1 of my dogs skin conditions it still hasn't healed her! They haven't even given us a proper diagnosis on my poor girl besides stating that it's yeast, and the shampoos and medicine only work temporarily but they're never a permanent fix! We can't afford to continuously go for tests or try out diff medicine and shampoos when they can't even properly fix the cause. Also I had an appointment one time with them during the winter that I needed to last min re-book later in the day due to my car not starting in the morning, and they confirmed the rescheduling. Came there later that day only to be to told the appointment was given to someone else and that my appointment was deleted??? What a waste of time!

All of my pets have gone to Machray, going as far back to 25-ish years ago when I had a hamster break it’s leg. They have always been wonderful with all my pets. They have always given me all my options when it’s come to medical procedures, giving both the pros and cons so I can make the best decision. While no vet is perfect and knows everything there is to know, I did have to take one my cats to a different vet to seek out a solution to deal with behavioral peeing problem, Machray still remained her vet for everything else. They had no problems working with me to get her file sent to the new vet so I could get a second opinion. The last few years we have been seeing Dr.Murray, and she is the absolute best. She worked with us to make the best end quality of life for one of our cats after it was discovered she had a mass in-between her lugs. This included things like being able to put in an order for a specific antibiotic (she had been on it before) without needing to bring her in for an appointment because she could see that we paid very close attention to small changes in her behaviour. It was a small thing, but made taking care of her in her last 1.6 years of life a lot easier on us. I have to call out a review from two months ago giving them one star because they weren’t allowed into the exam room (I personally cannot speak about the other half of their complaint as it’s something I haven’t had to deal with)... It’s been 8.5 months since the Province of Manitoba declared a state of emergency, businesses of all kinds have had to make adjustments to allow them to remain open while still making their staff feel safe coming into work each day. Speaking as someone who had to have her cat put to sleep this past August while the state of emergency was in place, both my husband and I were allowed into the office and the exam room for this, and we were not rushed into making the decision of when the vet would administer the drugs nor were we rushed out of the room after she passed away. All we need to do was wear masks.

Brought our new kittens here for their first check up, the lady was very nice and ask lots of questions. She really cared about the kittens it seemed. They came back here to get fixed and everything went find. Wasn’t too pricy. Couldn’t see myself taking our cats anywhere else at the time. Then take our cats for the one year check up. Got a different lady who seemed to know nothing about the cats even though it was all in the files. Check up was done quick and didn’t get to ask all the questions we had wanted to. Then one of our two kittens had been having problems two years in, we brought him here and they suggested a different food. They had to order and said they would call us, one month later I called and left and message. A month after that we made appointments at a different vet. Not that was wanted the food they offer as it isn’t very good.

The sweetest people work here! This place was recommended by a friend and I am glad we took their suggestion. They are super friendly, accomodating, clean, and the vets answer all the questions you have. They are also easy to talk to on the phone when it comes to setting up appts. My pup loves it so much he doesn't wanna leave the place. Update 10 months after: our dog just got neutered! They were caring and explained everything from booking to prep to surgery and to the post-op instructions. I still recommend this vet to all my friends. Thank you Machray!

Got my puppy spayed here. Usually they like to keep puppies over night to make sure everything is alright, but I got about 4 phone calls from the vets office, which I missed because my phone was on silent. When I called back it was the girls at the front asking if we wanted to come and get our puppy because she seemed pretty upset in the kennel. We immediately went and got her and everything was great and she healed up nice. I'm very thankful they looked out for her. We don't kennel her at home, so I could only imagine how she must have felt, and we really appreciated the call to come and get her instead of leaving her stressed out.

I came home on Friday night to find out that my 15 year old gurl kitty Patches vomited and thought she had eaten a mouse. It was very unusual for her to be sick at all. I called Saturday morning and managed to get in the afternoon to see Dr. Hill. She was very gentle with my elderly critter and kind to her. She was also very compassionate when she discussed Patches' diagnosis to me. Sadly, she had kidney failure and diabetes and had to be put down. ???? I thank her for medicating my special bff in such a way that her last few days were good ones. ☺ The staff were very friendly and patient with its customers especially the teary eyed like myself.

You are not allowed to be present for your pet's examination. You must wait in your car despite being double vaccinated. So you have no idea if what you requested is actually done, no chance of input or conversation with the vet during the exam. But they sure charge plenty for this non experience!

Dr.Hill is a talented vet, and someone I trust to look after my best friends. Booka's time had come, and Dr.Hill's palliative care experience was without equal. I could not think of any way it could have been improved........it was the best possible experience someone and their dog could have given the circumstances. Like at all Vet Hospitals, I've had good and not so good experiences here. There are some Dr's at Machray that I prefer not to deal with but I cannot recall their name's. Dr. McDonell is great! She is nice, patient & never condescending like some of them tend to be. I stopped taking my animals there abt a year ago when I called in for an emergency appt for my dog. I was abruptly & rudely told that there was nothing available. I understand that they may have been busy, but the male who answered didn't seem to care and made me feel that I was an inconvenience to him just for calling to ask. There had been a few other instances previously where I had called in to ask a simple question on a recent visit with my pet & was given a snotty response. It was a very emotional time for me as I knew my dog didn't have much time left so getting attitude was not something I appreciated. I called another vet (Southglen) who was also busy & had no appt's, but the lady took the time to ask me what was wrong. She was able to squeeze me in so my dog could be seen between the other vet's appt's. If the guy would have simply asked what was wrong or showed some sort of empathy, I would not have moved Vets. Would I take my pet's here again, yes if I had absolutely no other choice in the city, but their customer service definitely needs some improvement.

The staff are very honest here. They will tell you over the phone if you need moniter your pet or need to bring them in. For urgent situations they will make time to see your pet even when fully booked. The prices are very good and they are up front about what it will cost.

After calling to re-fill my dogs prescription i was told they couldn't refill it unless a blood test was done. I have had the talk with the vet there and was told it was up to me to decide and that the pills i was giving was the minimum recomended. The receptionist told me i was giving him a toxic level and maybe consider another drug. The receptionist told me she would only fill 2 weeks worth. When i got down there to pick up the prescript i could tell she was unsettled. I asked to speak with his doctor and they quickly hummed and said she was busy. Dont know why i wasnt recommended a diff. drug that is safer if there is one. i do not recommend going here .

I'm really upset with how our visit went at machray. My boyfriend brought his cat for the first time. His cat we've noticed was behaving differently for the past couple days, not eating, just being quiet and just hiding away. The vet we spoke to seemed so enthusiastic saying he looked good everything was good except he tested out to have pancreatitis but said that we've brought him in early and at a good time. She said it didn't seem severe because he hasn't been showing any of those signs like vomiting ..so vet suggested overnight stay for iv feed him fluids. She said he should be good to go the next day. But unfortunately the next day they say he has trouble breathing and then had an X-ray done and realized it was a severe case and fluid was getting into his lungs.. and the best suggestion was euthanasia. Like really? It seemed so sudden. They pushed us to believe everything was good. It was a real shocker. We all now sit here filled with "what ifs" and like could they have done something? Have that X-ray before to make sure. Do something? I don't know, I just feel their service wasn't enough. They were lacking. Near a grand pay and to what a suggestion for putting him down. I don't think it was the right option at all bringing him there. Should have gone to pembina.

The dcotors and support staff has treated us and our boy Jacob (an Irish Wolfhound mix) with kindness, respect and professionalism. We had a followup appointment last week. My wife had trouble getting Jacob into her car, as Jacob was in pain and cannot get up. At the time, I was at work (40min from my house) I called the animal hospital and asked them for advice. God bless them and their kind heart. They actually offered to come to our house to assist my wife to get Jacob in the car. The two of their staff member show up and assisted my wife. It was an emotional roller coaster in the next few days as we wait and find out if our boy will be well enough to come home. Throughout this whole ordeal, the doctors offer sound and professional advice to both of us. At the end, we made the sad decision to euthanize Jacob as he is in a lot of pain with the cancer and other health issues. But through this difficult journey, the doctors and staff was Very helpful, understanding and they show genuine compassion for our boy. Hats off to all of you. You guys make this difficult situation a bit more bearable. Keep up the good work. Andy and Julie

I have been going here with my pets since 1994. The staff are all excellent and I have been admitted with my pets as soon as possible whenever they had a problem. I also call whenever I am concerned with anything my pets exhibit. This includes dogs and cats. I have always found the staff knowledgeable and empathetic. I highly recommend this clinic and barring an emergency, wouldn't go anywhere else.

Brought my dog in because his paw was bleeding and we weren't sure where the blood was coming from. It was a drop-in; they had him for under 5 minutes, rinsed his foot and charged us $56.70. The doctor wasn't going to charge us but the receptionist asked to do so and the doctor responded with "sure, we can". Wasn't expecting it to be free but price seems hefty when they only washed his foot and the doctor didn't think it warranted a fee initially. Won't be returning. 2 stars because they were able to see him.
