My chihuahua was attacked so we had immediate need for a vet. I called and they held a long amount of time open for me as I didn'tknow how long before we got there. I was in and she was getting treatment within 5 minutes. The prices of this vet was half of any other vet visit to any other place and for a much more intensive problem...this included antibioticsand painkillers. Everyone was so kind and informative without being condescending. I will be taking my dogs here from now on. Thank you Catrysse staff ♡ You made an awful thing so much easier for us.

I have been coming to catryesse for about 5 months after I got gouged from another vet . Dr catrysse was highly recommended from my gf and her family . He didn't disappoint he was very friendly and helpful he cut cost for me without even telling me . He's a very good vet and he truly cares about his customer and they're furry friend . I recommend him to all my friends. I also would like to say his staff are all such nice girls they all are very kind and easy to deal with they Loved my boy Jasper as much as catrysse did . Great experience every time! 1 year later: Still great service. I'd like to add something to my review. Our Shih Tzu Dexter has been having back pain and Dr. Heather Kovacs has been most helpful in his treatment. She even calls us once a week to get an update on his health which is very touching and we feel that this place really cares about us. Dr Kovacs has been able to do more for us than another, more expensive vet clinic that we had to go to in a pinch where we had to pay almost a 1000$ for some services that ultimately proved to be unnecessary. We've never had a bad experience at Catrysse and if necessary, we always know we'll be helped.

Incompetent is the appropriate word. They took my money. They suggested further testing and treatments that were ill-advised but we took them anyway because we mistook them to be the experts, and the problem was never solved. As an added bonus they left scratches and bruises on our cat and told us how they didn't like her

I have been going to Catrysse for over 5 years and have loved every vet that has taken care of my pups. Dr. Kovacs is kind, compassionate, and friendly. The vets deserve 5 stars! However, in the past 2-3 years the prices have skyrocketed. A procedure I was quoted for 18 months ago has now more than doubled. There is a also a vet tech/receptionist that is quite rude and has turned me off to the point I almost dread calling there. If it wasn't for Dr. Kovacs, I'm not sure I'd return. ** August 2021 update: I was able to have the same procedure done elsewhere for 1/3 of the cost. $600 vs $1800. I'm disappointed that the "bottom line" appears to come before the health of our beloved pets.

Fantastic veterinary care and very reasonably priced. Did not balk or judge me when I said I cannot afford a lot of tests and that we could only the ones that were likely to confirm diagnosis. My cat was more than uncooperative with them with howling and growling but she's a 17 year old cat. They handled her well and there were no injuries. She's just all talk.

We have used the services of Cartrysse for over 15 years. Dr. Cartrysse was an amazing, caring vet who we miss very much. We have given the new owners over a year to work through the kinks of new ownership, yet we still aren't happy. I'm surprised that the vet has a high rating on here because I know of a lot of people who have switched vets since the new ownership because they weren't happy. The general feeling when we phone for anything is that THEY are doing US a favour caring for our pets, rather then appreciating us as clients who spend quite a bit of amount of money there. When the new vet took over, nothing changed in our dogs lives but the new vet wanted to order a bunch of expensive tests which weren't necessary. We refused, and guess what, my dogs are healthy! Clearly a cash grab which Dr. Cartrysse would never have done. Strike 1. One of my dogs, 8 years old who has never had trouble going to the vet, took a dislike to the new vet and started nipping at her after the first visit. We had to start using a muzzle, which she only needs going to this vet. Very interesting! We took her to another vet to see her reaction and she didn't nip at all. Strike 2. There is a policy of 24 hours notice to fill medication orders, yet the medication has NEVER been ready when we come 24 hours later to pick it up. We always have to stand there and wait while they get it ready. We asked why there is a 24 hour rule and have never been given an answer that makes sense. If you phone 24 hours in advance to fill a prescription, you still get lectured that you need to call 24 hours in advance EVERY time, which we do, so why the lecture. It feels like I'm a child who did something wrong. Strike 3. It seems their focus is to train their customers. We always feel we have done something wrong that needs correcting when we phone or come in. There's always something that is presented, a rule that needs to be followed, or a new policy. We've owned pets for 25+ years, have dealt with many vets and this is the only vet that has made us feel so frustrated. It feels like being micromanaged and criticized. Again, it feels like they see it as they are doing us a favour by seeing our pets. We are done jumping through hoops to keep the vet happy, It's unfair to muzzle my dog just to keep going to this vet when there are plenty of vets in the city who would appreciate our business and our money. We have raised our concerns with them a few times, but this is how they choose to run their business. I guess we are old school, we expect some respect and appreciation as their customers. It has been very aggravating trying to deal with them. We are loyal customers and didn't want to make the switch, but when you gut frustrated and upset every time you have to phone or come in, it's time to change. I regret we didn't make the change sooner.

**update** my cat Otto was misdiagnosed twice by 2 different vets at Catrysse. He's only a year old and he has been chewing his paws off constantly forming severe infections. He has been sick nonstop for 3 months and their only solution was its allergies, pump him full of drugs and send him off. Dr Nichol was very rude to me last week and told me NOT to call and email the clinic the same day cause they're too busy! So I took him to another vet for a 2nd opinion. He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and was put on different medication to clean up the mess he was put through the last 3 months. I will NOT be taking my animals to Catrysse anymore. They took money from me every single time I went in for the same issue.

Three years ago I gave this a 5 star review because the vet clinic was great and did it all for the animals now sadly I have to give it 1 star and that's being nice. Prices have drastically increased and they have changed the protocol drastically too. I have older animals and took a cat in last year as it was end of life for her and was charged 69.30$ ( October 2020) for her to cross the rainbow Bridge and no need for an exam as she had never been there. Now fast forward to 2021 May and my other older cat is at the end of his life and I just want to end his pain but nope they tell me I have to pay for an exam fee and than the other fee to have him cross the rainbow bridge which is also now higher than before. When did the love of animals become a price tag, yes I get everything costs money but their pricing is ridiculous and no wonder they are losing clients.

My cat was sick and I did not have a vet. I went to Catrysse on a Saturday morning at 8, not realizing they were open until 9. Dr. Catrysse saw me waiting outside and took Fluffy in without an appointment!! I told him I was on a budget and he did an examination and we found out it was a food allergy. There were no unnecessary or costly tests done. Very impressed! Dr Catrysse has retired since I posted my original review. A corporation now owns this place but kept the name. It has really gone down hill and I have recently found a new Veterinarian.

I'm a newly dog mom. I was really nervous and scared to bring my dog to a vet. After a week of doing my own research, taking advice from friends, family and co workers I gave Catrysse a try. I AM SO GLAD I DID! The staff was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They put me at ease right away. They explained everything they did, from putting us in a room, checking my dog weight and the process on what the vet does. There was nothing unexpected. When we met the vet she was fantastic. If i could give 10 stars i would! So very grateful for the caring, honest and wonderful service i have received here. After a really good experience here with a female vet, for just a regular checkup for my cat... I decided to bring him back today, after an unnerving experience at Pembina Veterinary Hospital last night. Pembina wanted to give my cat a sedated procedure to express a blocked anal gland. I had a bad feeling, canceled that appointment, and brought him here for a second opinion. Dr. Noel Catrysse was very caring, gentile and attentive... He took less than 3 minutes to look at my cat and said "He's fine." So my cat dodged a bullet!!! It is obvious they CARE about animals here. It's a little out of my way, but from now on this is where i will be bringing my babe :)

I’ve had my cats treated my this vet clinic for many years, my 15 year old cat was put down by dr Catryeese himself. I recently brought my new kitten in and requested a quote for getting her spayed and they quoted me $803 dollars. I called the spay and neuter clinic and they offer all the same services for 240$ And they explained everything to me and made me aware of the choices I can make for my pet. I’m upset that I can’t afford to take my cat to my trusted and closest vet because they decide to charge outrageous prices. Disappointing

We had an emergency situation with our cat and had to scramble to find a vet near our house. We ended up going to Catrysse and unfortunately our cat had to be put down. But what was a horrible situation was made bearable by Dr. Noel and the wonderful staff. Even though we had never been there before they treated us with care and compassion. We even received a card from them in the mail expressing their condolences. I'd definitely recommend this vet clinic and will likely switch over to them in the future.

Sorry to say with the departure of Dr Soutmayer (spelling is wrong), and the addition of a BRAND NEW (lady) vet, I can no longer trust this clinic. Went to see Dr Catryse regarding 2 months ago re:my 8 1/2 yr old dog with GI issues, he made a (logical) presumptive diagnosis - with a try it and see if it helps - food induced gastritis ... tx was omperizole (acid reducer - same a people rx), and a new diet of GI / hi energy wet food ..... fixed her right up. Last week Dr Catryse was not available on Saturday to see (same dog) regarding what I was sure was a UTI (frequency and urgency of urination - up every 1/2 hour to try to pee - then pee a very small amount of turbid darkish urine). As Catryse was not available and Soutamyer no longer three I was stuck with "the new vet". First thing she wants to do is a ultrasound guided cysto to get a sterile urine for CnS. I questioned this as we had brought a (clean) urine sample with us. NOPE she says no good, so I questioned her on the differential diagnosis and (3 - 5 day out CnS result) SOOOOOOooooo the outcome was going to be the same. Tx would be a empiric broad spectrum (gram negative organisms - as its a urinary system issue) ANTIBIOTIC. Because I love my dog and am not a vet / I have an extensive human medicine background ... and my wife was concerned we needed to do everything .... I foolisly agreed to the intervention. What did we find ---- empty bladder. (I had told her that she had pee'd on the way into the office - she knew) (so I paid 160.00 + TAX for useless and potentially dangerous procedure) What did we leave with A BROAD SPECTRUM (gram negative) ANTIBIOTIC. Total scam – rip off, sorry Catryse because your new partner is a XXXXX (trying to pay off her buy-in to the clinic it appears – by doing unnecessary procedures to inflate her billings) I WILL GO ELSEWHERE.

Never coming back here ever, rip off joint!! We took the day off work, to take our Bengal cat in and get his 1 year shots up to date. We should have known coming to Catrysse was a bad idea (even after coming here for many years and having great service) when we over heard the gentleman before us, complain that the medicine they gave his dog gave him a bad allergic reaction and once he stopped the medication his dog was better, should they not have warned him that might happen? He seemed very upset. Anyway the vets that looked at our Cat were very friendly and good with him. What we had a problem with was that we waited for an hour to have his shots done but they came back and told us he's a Bengal and he needed a special vaccination because of his breed and he could have a really bad reaction if not given the right one and after hearing the story of the dogs bad allergic reaction ahead of us, it had us a little worried. Should have they not known this when we phoned to book the appointment and when asked his breed told them he was a pure breed Bengal? As we were there the vets phoned around and tried to find the right one for him but could not. My husband asked what we owed as we were leaving, the one vet said in her own words "probably nothing since we didn't do anything" she said to hang on she'll check with her manager. She came back and said it would be $60 but that we got a discount for half the normal price of a full physical, yet I was told they actually did nothing. After an hour we just wanted to get out of there. Later I looked at the bill and saw no information about him on it, the space for his weight said 0, whenever we brought our dogs in we received information about the dogs weight along with other information (they also said he would not grow anymore he was now his full size as they gave him back, Bengals grow for 2 1/2 years! So wrong on that too!) all we received was a bill. They told us they would phone back to let us know about the vaccinations, we also wanted to talk to Jen about the bill and update on our cats current health. After 3 days Jen called back with a tone in her voice and now said our Bengal didn't need a special vaccination and they outdid with that two years ago, yet when we called another veterinary clinic yesterday they said they had such vaccinations and would only charge $109 for everything. Well either way, both of our work days were lost, me to calm the cat (he did not like the car ride at all and now the stress of another ride) and my husband to drive(Jen rudely told my husband that was his decision to take the day off, yes it was but we wasted our time and nothing was accomplished, plus a days pay lost and now the story about the vaccinations has changed, get your facts straight!) I don't feel like they know what they are doing at this clinic (the vet that we use to see has since left) the staff with the exception of Jen are friendly but not very knowledgeable at least with our cat. We have found a new clinic with one of our old vets,too bad since we had been going here for many years with all our pets but we will be happy connect with our old vet.

I have 3 dogs and Noel is the only Vet I will let touch them. He's honest and to the point, no candy coating. My dogs are all healthy and happy thanks in part to the gang at Catrysse! Edit : Noel has since retired a few years ago and the name on the building has nothing to do with why I used to come here. The problem is not so much with the Veterinarians themselves but the endless clerical errors, mistakes and general agony in dealing with the ones who answer the phones. I love my animals too much to take them to a place where mediocrity and complacency have ruined place where I've been taking my 3 dogs all their lives. Poor management

We’ve have been with this vet for 10 years and the prices have sky rocketed. We found a prescription at an online pharmacy and asked for Dr. Kovac to match the price or give us a prescription. They would not match the price and were against faxing the online pharmacy our prescription. They charged a script fee to write it and refused to give us refills. Heather was very helpful but Alyssa was rude and dismissive by hanging up the phone after we asked for a file transfer. For future care of our animals we have moved vets.

i have been reading the reviews and majority are very positive and a few super negative. dr. noel catrysse has been my vet for over 7yrs and he has always been great and very patient. he has been very helpful with my budget, no uneccessary procedures or tests. i have even questioned the cost sometimes because the estimated cost was higher it would be explained that this or that was not needed so not charged for it. i will always go to dr. catrysse for all of my pets needs. dr. catrysse has retired. i am both happy and sad. i hope he enjoys his retirement after so many years of caring for mine and everyone elses beloved pets. i will miss him. thank you dr. catrysse. well i have given the new vets and office staff time to try to adjust to running this office and with covid. i find them to be very inconsistant i buy my pets food here and they sometimes have it in stock and sometimes dont and have to wait for them to order. i order on a constant basis and if they know their customer they would have it in stock. have been purchasing for a few years like clockwork. i have been given one date and time for appointments and then find out it was not in their books and had been written on a different day and time. never use to have this issue when dr. catrysse was there. there is a lot of rudness from people, talking down to you. customer service is no longer a priority with them. i think i will need to find a new vet. these people are not up to the job at this time. there is one very good vet there reminded me of dr. catrysse i think it was dr. zloty. it is a very sad end to a once wonderful vet clinic, dr. catrysse was honest and caring he gave you all the options and consequences for your pets diagnosis and care and allowed you to make the decision without judgement. he was one of a dying breed of vet. the new ones treat it as a business only. i am sure they do care about the animals but not a priority.

My cat has been diagonised Chronic Kidney Disease awhile ago. She is on medication but she should also be getting fluid injections every 2-3 days. I was really scared to do this at home but between the technician and vet they showed me how to do it. I feel confident now. Everyone from the moment you walk in the door are so friendly Chloe just loves them all. This is Chloe because she is a biter I stressed she be muzzled for the safety of all. Today she did not need it because she knows now they care about her.

Last year my Shih tzu had a run in with a big dog and damaged her eye and it needed to be taken out.... I searched vet clinics around the city for prices on the procedure of taking her eye out (I had some financial challenges at the time)... I couldn't believe the variety of quotes I got... $1,200. from a Main St operation that offered "subsidies" in there ad in the phone book too $800.00 from the emergency operation I used ... then I received a referal from a family friend about Dr. Catrysse... his office listened to my story and quoted $400.00, something i could afford... thank goodness! My Shih tzu was so well taken care of and they (the staff and doctor) were both professional and caring ... I was so happy to have found out about this exceptional place. My other family dog, a lab cross, passed last week... this time I went directly too this vet clinic... I am again impressed and thankful that they are not out for the big bucks that some are... they care about the humans and the animals we have... I simply had to tell people that they should consider Dr. Catrysse and his staff for care of your pets!

I took my dog to Dr. Catrysse 26 years ago in Stonewall. When I found out his practice was now in Winnipeg I started taking my for baby to him. Service was still excellent. Recently I took my dog there for kennel cough vaccine. When I got there I was told that Dr. Catrysse had retired despite the fact that I had booked the appointment with him. I told the vet he had started slowing down and wasn't eating like he usually does. She checked him over told me he had allergies and one of his ears was inflamed. Bought an $80.00 bottle of ear drops. Not to concerned about his slowing down and loss of appetite. We went away for 5 days and he was left at a doggy daycare. They ended up having to rush him to Pembina Vet because he was having difficulty breathing. It turns out he had cancer on his spleen larger than a grapefruit. We had surgery done (his spleen removed)at Pembina Vet. He had not been given his ear drops yet and I asked the vet to check his ears for allegy/inflammation. The veterinarian said there was nothing wrong with his ears. Spoke with Dr. Nicols and she said if is a horrible cancer and not easy to feel upon exam in dogs. I don't blame her for not diagnosing the cancer as it was probably growing for awhile and it is very difficult to find. While my baby was home recovering he started having trouble breathing. I phoned Catrysse Veterinarian and told them that my dog was having trouble breathing and asked if I could bring him there right away. The receptionist told me that they were very busy and didn't know when they could fit him in. I said, " My baby is probably dying and you don't know when you can fit him in" and hung up. They tried phoning back about 10 minutes later 2 times but I never picked up my phone because I was driving and rushing him to the vet. At Pembina Vet he was seen immediately. They even came to my car to carry him inside Very sadly, he had to be put to sleep. The moral of the story. Now that Dr. Catrysse has retired I won't be taking my puppy there.

Always a wonderful experience taking my kitty there! They treat us so nicely and take very good care of him and while people complain about prices unfortunately it is a fact that doctor visits for everyone (humans and pets) are pricey! It is worth it to make sure my cat has a good, comfortable last few years! Thanks for being a great vet to go to!

If I could select zero stars I would. Very poor service over a number of years. Either improper charting or a lack of attention to history of my dog ended in the staff forcing me to euthanize due to an aggressive incident. The dog was difficult to groom due to fearfulness, with a history of being resistant to sedation. Basic safety was disregarded which resulted in a bite and staff refused to release the dog due to having "tasted blood". Will never return to this vet. (This particular incident happened 3 years ago, and I had been exclusive with this vet for the prior 7 years)

Do NOT see Dr. Nichol!! She wrongly diagnosed 2 of our precious dogs. One was diagnosed with a UTI when we could not even get a pee sample from our dog (she looked at a few drops we got on a slide), she said yes, UTI's can make your dog this sick (our dog was collapsing). 3 days later we ended up at Pembina Emergency as she continued to get worse. She actually had a bleeding tumor which needed emergency surgery to remove (Not cheap at Pembina!!). Our other dog (12 yrs old) was not putting weight on his right rear leg, she felt it for a few seconds and said he partially tore his ACL. I thought wow this vet is good to diagnose just by feeling his leg! Sent home with pain meds. Again landed up at Pembina emergency a few weeks later after he slipped and made his leg worse, his femur was fractured due to bone cancer and we had to put him down that night. His ACL was fine... Very upset with this vet! Wrote them a letter regarding Dr Nichol over a week ago and no response...

I've been coming here for years since my 3 cats since they were babies. Staff has changed. Brought in my 2 cats within the past few years, the doctor's were great and were very understanding even with my toddler coming, and kept him occupied. Recently called to make an appointment for one my fur babies and whomever the receptionist is, RUDE!!! Was not sympathetic at all, and wouldn't accommodate us, i understand covid is happening but wouldnt allow me to bring my cat in because I have children and said find someone to watch your kids and then make an appointment. Well thanks so much for being sassy. You shouldn't be working in a field dealing with customers when you have attitude! I'll be bringing my fur babies to a new vet who actually knows what customer service means! And will not be recommending this place anymore.

I called for my very ill dog and was told to wait for over a week. I found a new vet that got us in the next day....during the pandemic. That provided excellent care and stabilized my dog.

Catrysse Veterinary Services indicate that they treat pets like they are a member of their family. My dog has been attending here for the past 10 years but when I called to see if a vet could see her, the next available appointment was next week. They would not make allowances to see her under an emergency basis when she is suffering with hip dysplasia, as evidenced by x-rays on her file. I called a 2nd time when the condition worsened and was told the same thing. They also would not prescribe medication she has had in the past to alleviate the pain and lameness. I live 5 min. away from the clinic but was told to take her half way across the city to Bridgewater Vet. A very difficult thing to do when she is totally lame and in pain. I feel very sorry if they treat their own pets this way, having them urinate on themselves because they can't move. Will definitely not be going back there but will look for a vet who truly does show compassion towards suffering family members.

For years I attended Catrysse veterinary.... about 15 years, or more. . After Dr. Catrysse retired, and Dr. Kim Ward left.... things drastically changed. Prices tripled. They rationalized that as the “ gold standard“. I then began having a difficult time re ordering my cat’s medication, as did my husband when he called to re order it. This was never an issue when owned by Dr. Catrysse. They always wanted to do unnecessary blood work costing 700.00 , and a check up., and other miscellaneous blood work. Consistently saying they would not reorder medication unless I agreed to this. My cat is stage 4 renal failure.... the blood workhad been done , and showed that previously...... we know that, they knew that. Being an RN of 35 years, mostly palliative care..... it is like putting gas in a car that is going over a cliff. We know the cat is dying.... we wanted to treat her palliative. They were pushing the procedure of a daily needle in the neck for IV fluids which is a bandaid solution., and costs a great deal. Our last cat we tried that with.,.. she never came out from under the bed after one home treatment...... she died there. It was awful. Not wanting to repeat that scenario, we opted for this cat to be kept comfortable, by monitoring her food intake, wet meals with extra water. Etc. The new Catrysse veterinary kept pushing “ the gold standard” ... which is code for we will suggest anything to you for your pet, so we can make money. Dr. Catrysse should remove his good name from the clinic. He was a fantastic vet, logical, and did not price gouge. Shame on the current owners. I am employed at a large hospital in the area, where staff are all saying the same thing. They have stopped going there. Horror stories have been shared. I tried to explain to the Dr.’s that they also need to explain to pet owners the other side of their “ gold standard”, that when it comes to the end of pet life..... bandaid solutions only prolong the suffering. I told them how disappointed I was with their standards of practice. I also apologize, having to “ complain” , as I was such a fan of the clinic when owned by Dr. Catrysse.. One week later I received a registered letter stating I would no longer be welcome at the clinic. I guess the truth hurts... and it will continue to hurt and impact their questionable services. Please question their suggestions for exorbadent treatments...get a second opinion, or simply go elsewhere. Read the other reviews questioning and complaining about the same issues. So sad.

I have now been receiving multiple calls from the humane society saying my cat is there when he is at home.When i called to inquire about it the receptionist seemed to think it was funny, very disrespectful.. would not go back..

I cannot say enough good things about Catrysse Veterinary Services! My 8 year old cat fell ill about a month ago and I brought him to Catrysse where we found out he is diabetic. The staff and veterinarians at Catrysse have been immensely helpful over the past few weeks. My cat doesn't travel well and they have gone above and beyond with every option to ensure he is comfortable. They have presented me with so many options, thoroughly explained everything we need to know and are more than understanding with respect to his difficulty with travelling. I understand times are very uncertain during the COVID-19 pandemic, and things are going to be extra difficult. What I cannot understand is how the staff at this location can tell us over the phone that 3 people will be allowed in to be with our dog as she crosses the rainbow bridge but when we arrive for our appointment they tell us only 2 people are allowed in. Completely unprofessional, way to put a family that is already in pain through the trauma of having too chose who can't go in at the very last minute. They are not reliable, had they told us over the phone that only two people could come in at least we could have prepared or tried to find someone else who would allow the three of us in.
