i took my dog to this place because i thought she was pregnant. they told me that my dog was not pregnant and that she had a hernia and needed an 800 dollar surgery. i saved my money and i was going to get her surgery done at another hospital. my dog ended up having a puppy two weeks later. after this experience i wouldn't take any of my animals there again.

I took a 9 month old Alaskan Malamute puppy I rescued in for a check-up. After the physical and he was diagnosed with an ear infection, Dr. Zheng made a suggestion that blew me away, he asked if I would be willing to give the puppy to the auto body shop next door because they are looking for a guard dog and would treat him well. Obviously Dr. Zheng cares more about his bank account than the animals. I was a long time client who hasn't been back there in years. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. I did!

i had taken my cat here to get a check up cause she was throwing up after eating. The doctor told me she needed surgery to check for clogged intestines. Two thousand dollars later it turns out that my cat just needs Ranitodine (a stomach antacid) so for the next 2 years i buy the medication from the vet without problems. suddenly on my next time to get the medication, i am told by a couple of very rude staff that my cat needs to be brought in for an examination, which is going to cost me an extra 70 dollars. this is clearly nothing more then a cash grab. then the vet tells me that they will not give my cat medication unless i bring her in for that examination. clearly this vet puts money before animal safety and comfort. this is Ranitodine were talking about, any one can buy it over the counter from safeway. I called my pharmacy and will be getting my cats meds from them for now on. I WILL NEVER return my pet to this veterinarian. NEVER!!!

They are The Worst!!! Scam artists with an agenda!!! Do not trust your pet with these people. They missed three clearly broken ribs in my tiny teacup yorkies X-rays after she was mauled by a husky. Sent her home like that and when they finally answered my calls after i found the broken bones they only called me back to solicit me on optional surgeries and 700$ dental treatments!

Dr. Zheng was pleasant but his type of veterinary practice is not for me. When my husband took my bichon in with what turned out to be cherry eye, he gave my bichon topical antibiotics for his ears when he had no ear infection--I'm not sure if they were meant to be preventative or if he THOUGHT there was an infection but there definitely wasn't. He also sold my husband some ear cleaner (my dog is a very nicely groomed little guy, no ear problems). All-in-all he was very quick to turn to drugs for my dog (on more than one occasion), while I believe that drugs should be used only when necessary. It was for this reason that I quit going to Animal Hospital of MB.

Over the last year I have fostered with Tails of Freedom Rescue. I have had the privilege of taking many of the TFR foster cats to Dr Zheng at the Animal Hospital of Manitoba for check ups, vaccines, spay and neuters. The front desk staff and vet assistants are very friendly and love each and every pet that comes through their door. Dr Zheng is thorough and takes the time to let you know what is going on while he examines the animals. I especially loved how he took the time to let my own children hear the kitten’s heart rate. He also invited then to come back and spend an afternoon at the clinic if they were ever interested in veterinary medicine as a future career.

Watch for the bait and switch! I got a quote for 1 spay and 1 neutering of each of my cats, they quoted me $300 plus taxes so after filling out a bunch of forms and wasting a good portion of my morning we finally got to the part of signing the estimate. The estimate was now $430 plus taxes. They claimed that they had not quoted me 300. What a waste of time! I walked out never to return.So my advice is to get them to e-mail you the quote before you waste a morning dealing with these Bait and switchers! 0 stars

The only reason I went there was because they had a special on spaying cats and honestly the reception is very friendly but I would recommend going to Transcona vet to see dr. K before going back there Transcona vet is the best veterinary hospital in the province bar none but in all honesty they did do a good job on my little cats Sable but I just prefer Transcona vet because you'll never find any doctor more compassionate then the ones there and if you have a sick animal that's what you want I normally say it can't hurt to check them out but in this instance it can we're talking about your little furry friends so you want to go to the vet go anywhere you want to go for your pets is loved check out Transcona Veterinary Hospital

One of our kitties became very ill (megacolon) a few years ago. After several expensive emergency room visits, we brought our kitty to Animal Hospital of Manitoba for treatment. He was in a bad way and we opted for surgery, it was a success and he's a spry and happy now as a kitty can be. We've continued to use the Animal Hospital of Manitoba as our primary vet for his ongoing care (and our other cat as well), and have always received excellent personal and professional treatment from Dr. Zheng and his staff.

Way to expencive, plus they vet said he was only gunna charge me for one of my pets but ended up charging me for both, they nickle an dime you hard here, plus the constant phone calls, letters in the mail an emails, even after you told them to stop, unsubscribe to emails an all, they tried to tell me that my pets need to be on some pet food that cost $20 frigen dollars for a small bag that my pets would eat in a couple of days, deff wont reconmend an or ever go back.

Doctor Zheng is really honest and caring.He opened his door to us on Canada Day when we were worried about our cat, he treated us with respect, he was caring with our feelings, and honest about what might come. I would recommend him if your fur babies need help. The only problem I have however is with the nurses, they aren't as caring as he, or at least we didn't get that feeling when we were there, except for Matt I believe his name is, who took care of our cat and answered our questions as well, looking people in the eye is important, and the women there aren't very good at that, at least that's the feeling I got at the time.

Always kind and they don't try to push you to purchase things. Everyone is good here. Over Christmas my dog had surgery.the Doctor was amazing, he came in Christmas morning to do the surgery by 11:30 he was done. On boxing day when i went to pick up my puppy I overheard him on the phone with another owner who had been snowed in and wasn't able to come pick up their pet. Dr.Zheng offered to go pick that person up and drive them to the clinic to pick up their pet. I couldn't ask for a better vet.

We specifically asked, and noted on our paperwork, that we wanted a microchip and asked for no tattoo. Unfortunately they did both, and the tattoo is upside down and backwards, and done with a very shakey hand. Every time I look in my kitty’s ear I see the mess of ink that nobody could read anyways. Bit disappointed in this regard. They blamed the rescue for the lack of communication. Also left them a voicemail after my pet was spayed, and no response. Nice people, but a bit disorganized, in my opinion.

We were looking for a new vet closer to home & tried Animal Hospital of Manitoba because we had a coupon. Terrible vet. He didn't seem to have any interest other than lining his own pockets. We have a larger breed dog who is a gentle giant. The vet grabbed our dog by the neck within 30 seconds of coming into the exam room and said we had an aggressive dog because he was growled at. Our dog was in a strange setting and a stranger aggressively approached him, so what did he think was going to happen?!? He really needs to work on his human and animal social skills! We were just there for what we thought would be a quick exam and to obtain heartworm meds for our dog. We were in the clinic for quite some time and were offered services that were not needed or necessary. This guy was totally going all out trying to get us to drop some major money. He used predatory tactics trying to prey on our emotions. The coupon got us in the door, but we ended up getting gouged with unmentioned fees. I strongly advise that you take your business elsewhere. I'm wondering if all of these positive reviews were paid for.

They SOAKED me for basically a Malox treatment and prescribed bland diet! My dog had runs and vomiting for 24hrs prior to, ran the gambit of tests, observation overnight, she pooped out a deli wrapper a day after! Funny, that didn't show up in the xrays! 470.00 all in!! Extortionists! Take your dog/cat to a country vet, whose big dollars come from livestock. They are honest and upfront.

It was our first time bringing in our four month old puppy and from the moment that we walked in they made us feel very comfortable. Sunova was frightened to go on the scale and they gave her treats and time so she could go on her own without not being forced. The doctor was very knowledgable and was very patient with her. When we left we even got a bag of puppy food to take home and they even carried it to my car. I was going to a different vet before coming here and the reason why I left was because I was getting a long sales pitch to buy their products every time I took my puppy in. I certainly didn’t not feel any of that pressure on our first visit. Just some recommendations which I appreciated. We go back tomorrow! I also find that the price is reasonable as well.

I've entrusted my animals to this vet for many years. He is compassionate, knowledgeable and treats all animals with the utmost care and respect. The staff is friendly and helpful, the equipment up to date and the workplace is clean and tidy. It can get a little pricey at times, however good vets aren't cheap. If paying for emergency treatment is a hardship, Dr. Zheng provides a subsidy service to help make difficult choices easier. Above all, I know that the Animal Hospital of Manitoba staff always treat my animals as well as if they were their own. I've trusted them with my loved ones for nearly twenty years and would recommend them to any pet owner without hesitation.

I'm not giving it five stars on the simple fact of my cat is a Maine coon descendant and eats and looks different than a regular cat. I was informed he was only supposed to weigh roughly 10 lbs. But this type of breed weighs between 15 to 25 lbs and eats continuous small meals all day to maintain their health. Our Tails of Freedom Rescue (Louie) was neutered here in March and the service was great. The building was very clean and staff were friendly; we felt safe leaving Louie in their hands for the day. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I felt that they only cared about squeezing every penny they could out of me and not at all about my animals. The last straw was when I brought my dog in with a skin rash and the vet told me "allergies" definitely not fleas. When they brought me the bill there was a flea treatment not only for my dog but for my cat who was not even present. When questioned they said "precautionary". I declined the $700 bill and switched vets.

This vet will use scare tactic to try and get you to run all possible tests. Quotes for testing wil be $700-$1000. To run ONLY tests. This vet is allergic to cats and treats them with a disdainful bias. The subsidy is a joke and the office will find ways to earn it and thensome back for a large profit over future visits. I ended up taking my cat Silver to different and wonderful vet who did not make nearly the same conclusion from a physical that The vet at AHM did. Find a different vet and save you and your pet the stress and mistreatment of this "money grabbing establishment". I regret even giving 1 star. This was my normal vet as well and I see right through the scamming.

I first came across the Animal Hospital of Manitoba when our Doberman named Roxy was hit by a car. My son and I brought her in as we were terrified because we saw her top lip was split open and she had quite a few marks on her body. She ended up having broken front teeth as well which needed to be removed. The staff got Roxy in very quickly and did what they needed to fix our girl up. She healed up nicely and walked out of there a happy girl. I had my file transferred to this clinic as we decided we would like to stick with them from now on. We got a new puppy named Bolt and he now goes there as well. All-in-all, we would recommend the Animal Hospital of Manitoba for your pets needs. Fantastic group of people work there that are kind, knowledgeable, and helping.

I brought my puppy to this clinic because Dr. Zheng offers CO2 laser surgery where most clinics (including the vet I had been using) do not. I was nervous taking my puppy to a new clinic for a surgery but all staff were friendly and comforting. When I had questions, Dr. Zheng spoke to me over the phone directly, and he even called a few days after surgery to follow up and see how my puppy was doing. The prices were fair and clearly quoted. Dr. Zheng is a very caring person and a superb surgeon. I brought my cat for declawing surgery, the cat came home walking without any bandage, no suture, no pain or limping. I then mentioned to Dr. Zheng that I have another family cat, which had been limping for two years since declawing surgery done by another vet. Dr. Zheng offered to perform a correction surgery after a thorough physical exam. The cat is barely limping after surgery, improved 80%. He said it was more difficult and time consuming to perform this kind of surgery. Yet he did not charge me any additional money. He also offered me a veterinary services subsidy program (the only such program in the whole city) to help my family's financial difficulty. Dr. Zheng, we need you in our community. I love you and your caring staff.

I took my 8yr old, 27lb tabby to Dr.Zueng for a checkup since he's getting older I wanted to make sure everything was alright health wise. Due to my cat being 15lbs overweight, he has developed arthritis in his hips. Dr.Zueng gave him a diet plan of wet food only & said we would take it one step at a time; he did not mention wanting to do any extra tests, or prescribe expensive medications (like 99% of vets do - u go in for your cat to get declawed and end up getting billed $1000 bc they did this test & a urinalysis & xrays & on & on). I only had to pay the price of the initial exam, which was extremely affordable (the cheapest exam fee I've found & I've compared with every single vet in winnipeg). Also, i really, really liked Dr.Zueng bc he cares about your pet alot - he would tell me something, but he wouldnt speak medical - he would explain it & make sure that i understood every detail before leaving there. I would highly recommend this vet!!

First of all the staff is rude and don't care for your pets. Do not come here especially if you are short on money. Was left with no choice and came for an emergency visit and told them right away that I did not have a lot of money . Did some test but not all of them and they told me the only solution for my puppy was euthanasia. I tried to ask if I can take my puppy home as they were telling me that I was being told our family vet does payment plans and would do his best to save our puppy. High on emotion they convinced us he couldn't be saved and to put him down. My puppy was diagnosed with liver failure he could have been saved but this place only cares about money. Save your time, pets life and go to a vet that actually cares. This place is garbage and deserves to be shut down. Have I known that the review's were right that this place is horrid I would have waited through the weekend and went to our family vet.

This was our second visit to AHOFMB. After spending hundreds on meds at our other vet with no results, our problem was diagnosed on the first visit and we got the right meds. Yea, they do ask you to sign forms, but there's nothing wrong with them having the customer acknowledge that they turned down a suggested service! My experience at the Animal Hospital of Manitoba has been good. My family pet Phoebe has been going there her whole life (she is currently 14 years old) and it's been great. Myself and my partner, we just purchased a Pomeranian / Beagle cross and she went for her first Vet visit and it went very well! She got a clean bill of health and our visit was informative and full of recommendations, most of which are optional, which lets you make your own choices with regards to your pets health. DO NOT SEE THIS VET. I echo every bad review and then some. Myself, and my family have had nothing but bad experiences here. First off, taking your pet here is like taking your car to a bad mechanic. They charge you for things you don’t need, didn’t know existed. Like “ear infections”. Not to mention doing multiple botch surgeries where infection happens and then instead of prescribing antibiotics, they prescribe you a spray that keeps the pet from licking. Not treating a leg that is completely swollen from infection. The vet doesn’t appear to have a brain, or a heart! Highly, highly recommend that you do your research and stay away from this hack job! This place is a CASH GRAB! I cant believe how high the rating is for this place. I took my baby here for the first time cuz of an ear infection and the procedure they did was useless.. & I paid $500+ for it! We had to come back cuz my baby is still in pain. We paid $60 for the follow-up and was asked an additional $250 for another procedure that needed to be done cuz the first procedure was "not aggressive enough" as the vet says. UNBELIEVABLE! Went to a different vet and he was shocked by the numerous treatments that Dr. Zheng charged us that was unnecessary. He does everything behind the doors and does not explain nor show us what we are really paying for. Filing a complaint and NEVER COMING BACK.. EVER!!

They looked after my Calico Cat Van Der Hash for over five years extracting Teeth on three occasions and treating her Thyroid and finally her Kidney failure and I couldn't be more grateful for their work. To some here who say "all they cared about was selling me stuff I didn't need" etc well why not say the three words I said the few times they promoted Cat Food to me and that is "No Thank You" and BTW the Food they sell is top of the line first rate Pet Food and not the crummy stuff that you pick up at the Store and its not that much more anyways. I gave 2 stars instead of one cause my first time I broke my dogs claw clipping it on my own and they fixed it up free, I willingly handed them $20 to get theirselves coffee cause I’m an honest guy. I came back a few months later when my same dog scratched off her black pads off her paws running through and breaking my storm door. I went without my dog and inquired getting some pain meds and they replied they needed to see my dog and give an evaluation. I then asked if they could give me a rough estimate for how much I’m looking at, the woman at the front desk said it’ll be in the estimate not telling me it’s 60 to make an estimate(not receiving any meds for my dog). So naturally I was upset when the doctor gave an examination for a whopping 5 minutes in the waiting room and wanted $60 when I asked how much is this gonna be from the beginning. When I got the first estimate it was about $763, I simply replied with I can’t afford that, he came back with a new number under a third at 253. Mostly involving injections not meds so who knows how long that’ll keep my dog out of pain for? I went to see another vet and she gave me pills that would last 10 days and their first and only bill was $255 and she educated me(I should mention both doctors noticed in the exam that my dogs ears were infected but Dr.Nichols at the alpine animal clinic informed me that it was caused by an allergy where dr Zheng said nothing other than it was infected). Honestly I take full blame for not knowing an estimate was $60 and that’s standard apparently (even attorneys give free consultations!) in the veterinarian field but they should inform that before looking at your pet for those like me who don’t seem to know this super obvious fun fact.

I volunteer for a rescue by taking the dogs to their appointments if a rescuer cannot make it. I've always been told everything of what's happening throughout the appt. Sometimes, we have to make to a last minute appt and they always do their best to accomadate. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Dr Zhang made a diagnosis right away and advised us of what our options were and unfortunately we felt it best to have her put down. She was a 15 year old cat named Lucky. But the best thing was the young woman who was working there. Very very caring and our cat liked her which is strange because she never liked strangers. I wish I would have asked her what her name was. But she made an unbearable situation a little more easier to deal with. So whatever her name is...we thank her very much. And will therefore use that vet again and recommend them to others.

We (myself and common-law) along with our 3legged manx received great respect and dignity upon arriving at the clinic after noticing ROSIE having what I presumed too be a uri'y tract inf. or bladder infection, hence Dr.ZHENG understood our situation with me being ill physically and agreed with what I had assumed and treated Rosie with the utmost care and respect administering immediate shots of antibiotics followed by an additional shot for pain/discomfort after an initial complete physical and Rosie is already showing signs of improvement (no pinkish blood following urination) and this is only day 3 to date!! So all please keep your fingers' crossed as this has been a very trying time for not only Rosie but ourselves as well with all that's being happening the last few months' with my health but more importantly little Rosie who is like my daughter and I was always a dog person but this cat is unbelievable for having an amputation already and now this but so far so GOOD!! THANKKS TO ALL AT The AnImal Hospital of Manitoba......VERY MUCH APPRECIATED/AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Vet here is a swindler. My dog was a little sick and needed a checkup. For them to findout what was wrong (which wasn't anything big) it cost me just under a thousand dollars. Afterwards I called a different Vet to see what they would have charged me....and you know how much it would have cost at the other place?? $$80. That's right!! Do not bring your pets here. They will rip you off!!!

I pointed my daughter in the direction of this vet based on the fact that she is a low income and I was under the assumption, based on reviews, this vet helped low income pet owners. There is no such thing as helping low income pet owners. If you can't afford a vet bill, pray that your pet gets better on it's own or let it die. You could just abandon your pet at the vet and hope they do the right thing. NO HELPING LOW INCOME PET OWNERS AT THIS VET.

Called to ask about dentistry for our 12 yr old cat that was previously seen at Dakota vet for mouth issues requiring extractions which was very expensive.Dakota suggested we research other vets for a less expensive price.Called AHOM to get other estimates on their costs & was spoken to very rudely by the receptionist.I ending up with no answers other than they would have to see the cat at a $60 charge but all I called for was an estimated basic cost of 4-8 extractions not another vet visit costing more money.I already had the estimate from Dakota but they would not even look at it. Wanted me to pay again for the another estimate from them. Just a money hungry vet that has no business working with animals!! Hire a new receptionist with better telephone manners! Will NEVER use this rude vet again!!!!! Head out of town to find a compassionate vet that cares about animals before lining their own pockets!!

Gave us false hope for our fur baby that was going to die no matter what we did. A simple google search after the fact told us exactly what was wrong and that nothing could be done. We paid for testing, over night care and all the extras….all to draw out the inevitable fact that we had already lost our fur baby. Pricing is middle range but will try to get you on ever other extra (that isn’t really needed).

Dr. Is friendly dogs like him and great staff. One of two vet offices I use. My dog especially likes the vet tech Matt and when he goes to donate blood he loves all the attention Matt and the other techs give him. My daughter takes her Guinea pigs to him also and he removed the cancer from one of her piggies backs...there are only a few exotic pet vets in Winnipeg and Dr. There allows you to print and reprint his coupons for discounts.

If you are a Millionaire and like being RIPPED OFF then this is the place to bring your pet. This vet used to be open 24 hours, emergency but was closed down. My dog received a teeth cleaning and the bill was $1,100.00 dollars. That's right, One Thousand and One hundred dollars. I wouldn't recommend this vet to anyone, even if he was the only Vet in the world.

When a client says before anything is looked at or performed that they're on a budget then the the estimate is double , uh you have to work with them to see whats actually needed instead of trying to filled your own pockets.

I have been going to this clinic now for a while for all our pets - and these people have been AMAZING. Their prices are really reasonable, and you are treated very well. When we had to put our cat and then our dog to sleep, they were so awesome. Our pet family members were treated with respect when being treated, and the doctor is so fantastic. He has such a good manner with the animals, that they don't get stressed when being treated by him. I would recommend this vet to everyone. I would also like to add that they have amazing care for your pets, will make follow up calls to see how you pet is doing, will work within your budget, let you make payment arrangements, and will do everything they can to help. They will go above and well beyond what any other vet clinic I've ever had to deal with, and I think they are the BEST IN WINNIPEG!!

I got an appointment book a week ahead for my pup 2nd dose canine vaccine. Arrived just after the client before me, late 7 minutes. (The lady said I was 12 minutes late that was because I waited outside coz the lady before me was paying her bill.), Then I was declined for my appointment. Been your client since 2016 and if I waited 15-20 minutes I don't get upset but this one is soo mean! Won't come back anymore!

DO NOT go to this vet. If you want to pay $500 every visit then it would be your best interest to go to a noble doctor who isn't greedy and wants to do a million examinations & medications to hike up the costs. $500 is the LEAST you will pay. No exaggeration here. Had 3 visits and were all well overpriced. Even their program for shots is unbelievable. Do your research before settling with this vet or you will regret it.
