Was not. Impressed when they didn't do any tests on my dog and right off the bat just blamed the food I've been feeding my dog for years and had no issues. I love my animals very much and only feed the best quality food at a specialty pet store. With all these great reviews I'm noticing a pattern in the bad, that they lack the love and care a real pet hospital should have.

Have been bring my pets here since the early 90s when the humane society was a block away, I keep coming back because they are a great vet clinic. They have never forced any unnecessary tests, they offer down to earth remedies when possible and are reasonably priced. Getting in for an appointment is pretty easy and the vets have always been nothing but fantastic. In fact, the entire staff is helpful and friendly.

The vet I take my Bichon to is Dr. Standish--and I think he's fantastic, if slightly unconventional. Dr. Standish is not a "pill pusher" type of vet--he will prescribe medication if needed, but is also very open to alternative (more natural) types of therapies if he thinks it will benefit the animal and if the human is open to it. Food-wise, he is advocate for whatever is best for your pet--be it raw-feeding, kibble--he's not the sort that will try to sell you what's at the clinic. Dr. Standish doesn't rush you through appointments--and I've learned a lot from him, both through the appointments and the free information sessions Alpine was offering in and around 2015. When my dog got deathly ill and the other two male vets were the only ones available (can't remember their names) I also had a very good experience. Not only did my dog survive, they were very pleasant, professional and competent. Recently I saw Dr. Nichol when Dr. Standish wasn't in and I thought she was very good too. I highly recommend Alpine.

Poor communication. Not only with me, but with each other. I had told the woman on the phone everything that my dog needed and everything they needed to know.. And when I got there, the vet had no idea about anything. Then he refused to listen to me about anything, and lied to me about my dogs shots that he needed. Over top of a long list of problems, the attitude I received from his staff as soon as I got there was completely uncalled for. They treated my dog like a monster, yet he is the sweetest boy you'll ever meet. Worst vet ever.

This used to be a great clinic but now just seems to put profits ahead of animal care. I went to Alpine yesterday for my 8 month old German Sheperd who developed a limp in his front left paw after some rough playing with our other dog. The first vet Dr. Bray seemed good but only looked at the paw for less than a minute then left and brought in Dr. Standish wo was very rough with my puppy and critized me for trying to calm down my dog who was obviously in incredible stress. The with barely any examination Dr. Standish said he wanted to xray all four limbs and refer the dog for a CT scan at a cost of close to $2500 not including any treatment. Then refused to answer my question as to how treatment would differ with all these additional tests and xrays. I replied that I was interested in only solving the immediate problem at this time. Dr. Standish became even more rude and said to just rest the dog then and stormed out of the room. This guy was far more interested in running up the bill then he was in caring for the immediate problem. Will never, ever be back to Alpine Animal Hospital ever again.

I had to bring my Boston terrier in for a tooth extraction. She was scheduled for cleaning, however Dr Standish realized cleaning wasn't required, only an extraction. So my initial $1000-1500 quote turned out to be just shy of paying under a grand. I appreciate that this clinic does not take advantage of you or push unnecessary shots or procedures (my little girl broke her K9 down the tooth and had to be pulled). I appreciate all the hard work Dr Standish and his staff do to let me trust them wholeheartedly and my pups too. (Dr Cam is another vet who had been amazing when Dr Standish was away). Thank you to everyone at Alpine.

I have had occasion to use Alpine Animal hospital on several occasions. Most recently for surgery for one of my little dogs. I found that the level of expertise varies depending on the doctor you see. In terms of the surgery it went off without a hitch. The techs sent me pictures of him throughout the day which I thought was amazing customer service. My little dog is doing wonderfully and has made a full recovery. The front end staff is amazing as well and very helpful. They have a lot of handy tips for various situations. Should you use this veterinary clinic I would suggest Dr Standish. He has a lot of experience and is very intelligent as well as kind.

Do not recommend them anymore! They use to be so helpful and family oriented but recently they wouldn't let my dog go to her appointment because we were late 10 minutes. Now i understand that being on time is important but we called in advance and they said we will be fine ! Then on call I complained and they said if we were late 15 minutes they would wouldn't let us in but we were only late 10 minutes. This is so annoying because there probably is something wrong with my dog but we don't know because they won't take us in! Now we have to wait another week because there is only 1 day out of the week we can go and no another week goes by that I don't know what's wrong with my dog

Amazing. Please, take your pets here. The doctor and staff there were incredible during our sad time we had to put our kitty down. We never went there before, but had such an awful experience at South Glen Vet on St. Anne’s, that we phoned around the city and even over the phone, they treated us so kind and could tell immediately they would take good care of our cat. Such dignity and class they gave us. You can tell they are all pet owners and care about them, as you do your own. Thank you for the wonderful experience during such a terrible situation for us.

Loved taking our cats here since majority of the staff are super friendly but Dr.Singh is always too rough with our senior cats and he's known for getting complaints against him, he obviously does not care for animals/their comfort Took one of our cats here a couple months back since she developed a sore/infection on her chin and he gave her a shot for it, it went away but it recently came back & turns out via googling the infection name he could've gave us medication to make sure it didn't come back, also tried getting us to get her shots done even though she was up to date with them Overall, a great place but I would suggest if making a appointment to ask for someone other than Dr.Singh but won't be taking our cats there again.

My animal is worse now than he was before he started with their 'remedies'. I've expressed my frustration through emails, which have been ignored. Alpine Animal Hospital is the best! The staff are one big happy family and you feel like part of the family when you're there. They treat my dog as if he were their own. Each of my dogs have always been more than happy and excited to arrive at the vets office! I drive across town just to use this clinic, I can't imagine taking my boy anywhere else. Dr. Standish and Dr. Nichol have both gone WAY above the call of duty for me and my pet on numerous occasions. Amazing!

Misdiagnosed our dog ! A male elderly vet !! Brought our dog for coughing and pushed pills on us ( potentially for life ) after showing us our dog's X-ray that her heart was enlarged ( I didn't think it was enlarged but what do I know , I'm not a vet , but I'm a nurse) But like every dog owner - we want what's best for her.. 7 days later , our dog wasn't improving. She was urinating like crazy ( due to one pill being diuretics ).. we we're changing bed sheets every day , putting towels where ever she lays , I even bought diapers. Our family was in stress thinking our dog was dying !! She lost her appetite and bladder control.. Until one day I asked a smart doctor at work and said to cut the diuretics in half and wean her slowly off meds. 3 days later , our dog was better.Turned out it was a " kennel cough" that resolved with cough medicine. Did he acted on personal or financial gain ? Not sure.. I won't take a chance next time.

I did have a 5 star review but trying to book an appointment they responded saying my requested day was full do I have another day that works. I've asked about a different date. And followed up. They ghosted me. I asked about transferring my dogs file to a new vet that is accepting appointment bookings but I am not confident I'm getting a response. Not very professional ignoring multiple requests for information but that's fine. I found a new vet that is more than happy to assist me without nagging for responses. If they can't respond to emails within 3 days get more admin staff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The girls who put my cats nail tips on were amazing and super friendly! All very nice, polite and helpful. They helped calm my cat down and he was 100% fine when they were done. On the other hand, the one receptionist I dealt with was less than. After waiting about 5 minutes she came and asked for the nail tips. I told her I didn’t have any no one told me I had to bring my own when I made the appointment. In no way did she apologize, even if it wasn’t her that answered the phone, she could of said oh my gosh I’m so sorry about that. Instead she told me to go to the pet store and pick some up. For most animals it’s very stressful to be at a vet, so not only did I have to drive him there, I had to drive him to pets mart and back, creating way more stress on My poor guy, and me than necessary. Other than hiring the nice girls who did the nails, I will drive to the other side of the city Academy spay and neuter where they are kind and caring at the front. The only reason I didn’t take him there was because I am now living on the other side of town and didn’t want to stress him out it’s the drive. Great girls who helped. Not the skinny girl at front though.

Truly the best and most affordable in the city. I've settled with vets for convenience and 'loyalty,' but after losing two pets over the years, one under an incredibly regrettable experience who would still be alive and well in most circumstances.. Our previous vet stated our female Siberian husky should weigh any where from 65-80 lbs. He stated feeling her ribs showed further she was under fed, She is a healthy 43 lbs at this time and the average max weight for a female Siberian I looked it up is 30-50. Not to mention because of the body type of Siberian huskies you can naturally feel there ribs and spine to an extent, but not drastically based on the individual body type I also looked this up and saw many many people with huskies panicking over this on a site and all were reassured that it is normal. The vet I saw the first time insulted me constantly belittling me. I only still attend this place cause it is close enough to home, and I can't drive or afford cab rides. We gave this clinic a second chance and received another vet. I honestly believe you should know the animal your dealing with if you want to work with them.

I was blown away by the level of care. I brought in my kitten for his neutering and they took the best care of him...even texting me a picture of him during his recovery so I could feel more reassured before I came back to pick him up at the end of the day. My kitten's incision and tattoo were super clean. He didn't seem in any discomfort or super traumatized when he came home. Their pricing also doesn't break the bank and they explain everything to you before you leave your precious furbaby as well as provide advice for when you get home. I definitely suggest this place. I've used several different vets, all who seemed to either wanna get me and my animals in and out as fast as possible, or just simply wanted money out of me. Alpine was not like that. The vets care, they always stop to take time to greet my animals before they begin examining. The secretaries are beyond helpful in working around my crazy schedule and are super polite and quite often humerous. Their prices are amazing compared to every vet I've seen. I just took my dog for her yearly check up, I used to pay closer to 90$ for a checkup, I paid 62$ for an annual check up at alpine. I live an hour and a half from Winnipeg and would gladly choose to drive the extra bit to alpine from my rural community.

Was recommended here by our veterinarian to get knee surgery for our dog. The doctor is very matter of fact and explained the whole procedure. Had the surgery done and made the world of difference in our dog. We were told to take it slow and that it should take 3 months to recover, but she had other plans about her recovery. 1 month after she is happy and walking with barely any limp. To say we are happy is an understatement. What made us go with this Doctor was there are 2 types of surgery for the problem our dog was having and he never tried to push the more expensive one. Almost $2000.00 difference and he recommended the least expensive.

Great vet: very careful with my cat, explained in details what could be causing my kitty to scratch extensively and provided alternative courses of action. The reception customer service was disappointing: while we were waiting standing at Reception, two staff kept on talking as if we were invisible. While chatting they somehow missed the fact that the vet dropped my pet’s file on the reception desk. The third staff at reception was helpful. This happened at a time when there were three staff at reception and one client. What could have been the situation, if there were more clients? If I had to interact only with the vet, this review would have been a strong 5 stars.

Let me tell you a story I'm a young adult, early 20's and was not prepared to put down my 17 year old dog alone. I noticed my best friend not doing well health wise, not eating, lost weight and so on. I take him in and can't get an appointment with his usual vet, who I hear is fantastic, but I book a check in with Dr. Singh. I fully expect to put my dog down that day, he looked horrible, was 17 years old and I knew it was time. Dr. Singh checks him out, sees if he's interested in eating, does a physical exam and a blood test. Tells me he looks fine, has an interest in eating and it'll be a couple days for the results of the test. I'm thrilled, but hesitant, I know my dog, and he was not fine. But I figured I'm a kid, who am I to not trust a vet? So I take Dr. Singh's advice and go home with hundreds of dollars worth of vet recommended food to help his tummy and lots of different meds. I set up a schedule, give him his meds and special food, see how it goes over the weekend. He ate once, and was getting worse. I took him back on a sunday and told them to hold the klinic open later for me because my dog needed to be put down and I was not going to see him suffer anymore. His usual Dr was the one who put him down, I don't remember her name but she is wonderful. She took one look at him and asked if he got checked out at the same klinic earlier, he had. She said just by looking at him, she could tell he had a massive tumour growing inside him. I had no idea, I'm not a vet, I was devastated. She sedated him and showed me the size of the tumour, which was the size of a large apple, growing on his liver. Just by looking at him she knew all this. She put him down and all was well with her. I was pissed. How could a vet have missed that. There's no way Dr. Singh missed that, but I was naive enough to believe he missed it. What my naive, young stupid mind finally figured out, he knew my dog was dying, vets make a commission off food they sell, he figured this dog is gonna die, might as well make a few bucks. He lied to me, got my hopes up about my dog and took advantage of how stupid I am. My dog, who I have had for 15 years, suffered because of this Dr for longer than he should have and it took me 7 months after his passing to write this review because it eats me up inside. I cry everytime I think about him suffering because I believed that man. My parents were on vacation and once they got back, chewed them out, but that's not enough, other people need to know to avoid Dr. Singh. I feel horrible for this review as everyone else was amazing, the female Dr (can't remember her name) and everyone else I came into contact with. But that man made my dog suffer and people need to know.

We have gone to Dr. Standish because he is the only vet who was able to diagnose our cat's medical issues. He is very honest, sincere, and excellent with children when they come in with pets as well. Just recently, our cat had surgery to remove a tumour that Dr. Standish removed 100%. Great animal hospital. Took my cat to get neutered. Due to covid they texted pics of how my cat was doing. Picked him up same say. If you get your cats spayed or neutered get a cone from them and make your animals wear the cone. Its to prevent infection.

If i can give no star for this rating, I would but for the sake of this post it will have 1 star. I went to get my dog's annual check up and I wanted my dog to be seen sooner than later because I suspected my dog have an ear infection. We have been coming to Alpine Animal Hospital for a few years now and was referred by another pet owner. This particular visit, it was with a Veterinarian (Dr. Bray) who I assumed was new (confirmed by my co-worker who also goes to Alpine for their pet). Knowing my dog is very anxious (stated in chart) and I suggested to use a muzzle as he may bite. The Vet agreed- when it was time to assess my dog and noted I had struggled to hold my dog to be assessed, the Vet automatically have refused to not assessed my dog. The Vet have then proceeded to tell me that my dog would need a sedative for him to be assessed! It would have been informative for them to tell me that my dog would have need a sedative. However, we are already at the Vet and she did not even suggested that she would get help from their staff or maybe take my dog at a different room to be assessed by them (as this is their profession). Instead, my dog was refused to be seen any further and wanted me to re-schedule! Another thing she prescribed at the end was a sedative called Trazadone for my dog for the next time he comes back for a second round of assessment. I made an appointment for my dog to be seen by the Vet Singh, as he has seen my dog before and I was satisfied with his assessment with my dog. The sedatives was given to my dog as instructed from the bottle. It did not touch my dog at all and he was still anxious going to the Vet Clinic. This time it was the Veterinarian Singh to see my dog. I have explained to him in what happened from the previous appointment. The Vet tried to get close to my dog with his stethoscope on his hand and my dog was not happy, so I have suggested to him that we should put a muzzle on my dog as he gets anxious and will bite. The Vet did not even tried to put on a muzzle on my dog, he just dismissed in my suggestion and continued to proceed with the other medications that my dog would need for this year. I was the one who had to give the vaccine to my dog in the examination room because he won't even attempt to try to get close to my dog nor even suggests for their staff for help or take my dog in the back room for further examination. What left me very upset and I felt unresolved and I will never come back to Alpine Animal Hospital again is the statement that this Vet (Singh) had to say "Just hope that your dog will never get sick." Like I said, I left this place unsettled and upset and my dog was not assessed! Instead I was charged more money on the ear cleaner and the rest of my dog's annual medication. The ear cleaner was probably to compensate for the Vet check-up that my dog did not get! I work in the medical field and I would not treat someone like this and turning away patients and telling them "just hoped that you will never get sick!" There are alternative ways in approaching the situation but both of these doctors did not give no option to assess my dog!

Beware!!!! This place is extremely incompetent, unfriendly staff, and majorly unskilled for almost all the vets and staff. I truly believe some of the Vets at this place should have there licences revoked as they have no skills or empathy towards animals and have caused my pet ptsd with going to the vet now. Beware and extreme caution of Dr. Bray, Dr. Standish, and Dr. Singh. If you love your pets, please keep them away from these 3 vets and this clinic as it should be shutdown. From what I've heard from some other pet owners I've spoken to who have taken their pets here or know someone who did, they are all in agreeance on the serious flaws and lack of professionalism at this clinic. I have been told by some pet owners that Dr. Standish is a very cruel and dark person and whatever show he puts on he is not to be trusted whatsoever with any animals as he is inhumane , money hungry, and has set a very dark tone for this vet clinic tragically. On a glimmer of hope Dr. Choker is a very professional and educated veterinarian, and light years ahead of other vet there. Sadly unless he starts his own clinic I will not be taking my pet here do to severe ptsd for both my pet and myself.

Took my dog for a check up yesterday. Found the price of medication went up drastically. Changed my dogs tick and heart worm to a more expensive brand and the vet would not entertain any questions. The receptionist even made a joke and told my dog to get a job because his vet bill was so expensive. This place was good but, not any more. Wont go back. Never wrote a review anywhere before.

Today I had another semi/low urgency issue (ear infection) with my dog and again was turned away from Alpine. We loved Dr. Standish but I am moving my four dogs to another vet after the receptionist said "we are closing in like 5 minutes" even though it was 4:38 when I called. Over the last year and a half I have called needing semi urgent care just to be declined 6 times. No more. I phone a strange vet and got in immediately even though it was late on a saturday. My dog would have been insane by Monday if we had had to wait. the curly red head receptionist is very rude and not helpful and I have seen it with other customers as well.

Very friendly staff, very flexible with their appointments. Dr Standish in particular is an outstanding vet, extremely knowledgeable. His demeanor can seem a bit gruff sometimes, but he very much knows what he is doing and, unlike a lot of other vets I have visited, he will be straight with you and not try and milk your wallet with unnecessary tests or medications. Dr Nichols is also amazing. She is great with animals and great with people. I am not as familiar with the other vets in this office, but on a whole, this is an excellent place and the only vet I take all my animals to now.

Although I haven’t gone to alpine yet, I am a soon to be new dog owner, and I have many concerns and questions as I have only ever owned cats. I was calling vets in my area this week to find pricing and info. I was becoming frustrated because all of the other vet clinics I called answered miserably and had rushed me off the phone. I decided to call one more place. I called alpine and friendly voice answered the phone. I believe her name was Mia.I ended up having a 15 minute conversation with her while she listened to all of my concerns and questions. She educated me when my puppy will be needing shots and neutering, and all the pricing so I could prepare. She reassured me that if I had any other questions that I was more than welcome to call and ask. I am looking forward to bringing my puppy to alpine as just a call eased my nerves. I hope the rest of the staff is just as friendly!

Most are great with my dog there. The vet didn't even say hi and give my dog a pet to acknowledge him. I showed the vet what the issue was as he didnt need the checkup as I'd be charged for it, was simple prescription. Brought me into the "exam room" intentionally to charge the extra $35 and try to upsell me on everything. This all took 10 minutes. Couldn't understand him due to bad english which I was irritated by as that means NO communication, as I can't ask a question due to the English barrier for a reply. I'll make the drive out to steinbach from now on, they don't overcharge and everyone there INCLUDING the vet are amazing with my dog.

I took all 4 of my pets(2cats, 2 dogs) there for a number of years. Another family member also took her 2 dogs/cats there as well. Although it is one of the cheaper vets, please know that you get what you pay for. My one dog had a number of issues and despite always doing what the vet recommended the dog was never really diagnosed with anything firm. The file was always “on the vets desk” as she was continually looking into other options. We ended up having to put her down at 6 years of age still without knowing anything more. It was dr standish was the one who was available that day and he made the experience much more awful than it had to be thanks to his mannerisms. Heartless. Avoid the experience. Now that we have another dog(and a different vet) we’ve learned that some(perhaps most)of our previous dogs issues were likely caused by a food allergy. That wasn’t something ever suggested or explored yet should have been an easier thing to spot as a vet- you’d think. My family members’ cat was diagnosed as diabetic and needing special food after he was brought in quite ill and wasn’t eating that much. She wasn’t sure about the diagnosis and ended up taking the cat to a different vet for a second opinion. The other vet found that he had cancer and it had spread everywhere. Completely off on the diagnosis and the exams were only one day apart. I wouldn’t trust any of the vets here- we’ve seen them all. I understand that cost can be an issue for some and their regular shots are much cheaper than elsewhere. Steer clear- avoiding this place will save you money in the long run and your pet.

Once was a loyal client, but cannot bear to return. Still have nightmares on how a previous euthanasia was preformed on my sick and dying cat. Would best describe it as a painful death by the attending vet and with a VERY rude receptionist who shoved papers in front of you and demanded that you fill them out yourself. This one should consider employment elsewhere and not with humans. I have now found vet care, for my other pets, elsewhere.
