Dr. Jay Cleroux and the rest of the team at Rutland Pet Hospital are simply the best! Our dog started to have seizures last week and he and the rest of the team went above and beyond for our dog. Dr. Cleroux went out of his way to contact a local specialist to consult with him on the best possible testing options then spoke to a clinic in Vancouver to determine if we would be better off to take our dog there for more specialized testing. He reached out to us personally to go over all the options and was caring, compassionate and truly concerned about our dog's medical situation. Rutland Pet Hospital has been our regular veterinary hospital from day one and we are so thankful for the care and attention our dog has received through every medical crisis. I highly recommend Rutland Pet Hospital!

I found an injured crow on the road. I brought it home and called everywhere. No one was able to help me get this poor thing to the right place. I almost had to drive to Kamloops. I called Rutland Pet Hospital and they took the crow for free. Such kind souls there. Thanks so much!

We released our fur baby over the rainbow bridge last month and everyone of the staff were amazing and compassionate and helped both my daughter and myself through a very emotional choice. We had a private cremation done and received our "Blue" back in a very respectful and timely manner. On Christmas Day we received our card in the mail with her paw prints and a pouch of Blue's hair???????? I would recommend this vet for sure.

We first took Molly here when another dog attacked her and her tooth was coming out. Dr. Cleroux and his team were excellent, it was lunchtime and they took time to help and took care of Molly. We next had to take Molly in January as she has a tumour on her nose and it was getting larger. Dr. Cleroux again checked her over and although he cold do nothing, gave us an understanding of what was coming. Thank you to this wonderful team of people, who not only are paid to take care of animals but put their hearts into the care and love of animals.

Really sucks they won’t call me back as now I have to try and find somewhere outside of Kelowna to take her. Staff seem nice but I’ve called six times and every time they say the vet will call me and they haven’t. Been a few weeks now. Would have loved to take my bun here but unfortunately it seems they don’t care enough to get back to me.

I cannot say enough about Dr.Cleroux at Rutland Vet Hospital. My rabbit, Charlie, is very sick and I had to drive 1.5 hours to get to Rutland because my local vet does not treat rabbits. Dr.Cleroux was so kind, patient and caring with my Charlie, did a full exam, prescribed medication and gave me special food for my boy. It has been 1.5 weeks and he has phoned me twice now to follow up. Charlie still isn’t better so Dr. Cleroux sent another prescription to my local vet so I don’t have to drive all that way again (although I would for my sweet Charlie). Thank you so so much Dr.Cleroux and Rutland Vet Hospital for the amazing treatment and aftercare. I am beyond thankful.

The Veterinarians are great but the Front end staff are lazy, inconsiderate and overall complement. They use COVID like its an additional excuse to be rude, lazy & slack off. I had a good experience with the Vet I took my cat into but the experience with the front end staff has tarnished the overall visit. A message to the owner(s), time to whip these ladies into shape or clean house because when your frontline workers are awful and not compassionate... its the first thing a customer & patient experiences upon entering and the last thing they experience upon leaving.

As far as I know, this is the only place that has a resident reptile specialist in Kelowna. I feel like the prices are pretty reasonable, however we waited for at least 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment time before seeing the vet, which is pretty insulting if you ask me. On top of this, our vet didn't seem very helpful, any advice we got was from very direct prompting by us, though he did seem very knowledgeable in his field.

If you're looking for an Avian vet NOT HERE. Their 'specialist' wouldn't even handle the bird. Prescribed some general antibiotic and an expensive as hell soap. And to make matters worse, refused to do bloodwork, or any sort exploratory measures for my parrot. The final straw was when he stated that he'd amputate her leg if he thought it would get any worse. This so called 'vet' is a quak. Don't take your birdy here please! Go to Tri-lake.

We brought our 13 year old dog in for a check up as he suddenly took ill, vomiting, very lethargic, and weak. We had to leave him there as they were busy and would fit him in when they could. Also we provided urine and feces samples... Got a call to pick him up and we were told that everything checked out fine, all his vitals were good and if he did not improve to bring him back in 2 days. He got worse the next day so we called Fairfield and booked an appointment for the morning but he passed away before that appointment. So how in the world does a Vet not recognize a dog that's that near death? Why would they tell us his vitals were good? Not sure the outcome would have been any better but we wish we would have stayed with our original pet hospital (Fairfield) Also I have to note that they are not caring or compassionate at all. I'm wondering if the Vet even looked at him at all? The Tataryn's

Was able to book an appointment same day, which was such a relief as I was getting kind of worried about my good budddy. The vet was really sweet and caring and totally understanding that he is sensitive about his behind and prone to growl at/ nip anyone poking around back there. When all was said and done, it was under $140 for his exam, medication, cream, and cone of shame, which was such a relief as I was worried it would be a large bill. Friendly staff and affordable! Dr. Cleroux is probably the best veterinarian I have ever been to. He is extremely professional and knowledgable. He actually listens to everything you have to say and is not dismissive. He is really great at his job and I trust him with all of my animals. Thankfully, they also attend to all kinds of pets, not just cats and dogs. Additionally, all the staff I have interacted with have been friendly and helpful, which I find is rare in a veterinarians office. And very importantly, they are NOT overpriced and they charge what is reasonable for all services and medications. When one of my pets passed away, everyone in the office signed a card and mailed it to me with stamped paw prints included. It was such a kind gesture that they didn't have to do and I really appreciated it. I can't say enough good things about them. If you live in Kelowna or the surrounding area, take your pets here.

There are good vets and then there’s great ones! My experience here was amazing! I came in with a sick budgie which most vets wouldn’t care too much about, but Doc gave me not only many options for treatment but personally phoned around my area to make sure I got the medication my bird needed. She’s doing a lot better now and I am very, very grateful! With birds, there is a very short timeline between when you notice something’s wrong, and when the terrible happens. But service was always prompt, above and beyond, and caring. I cannot express my gratitude for everyone’s help! Really recommend!

I ended up having to put my bunny down due to her injury being too severe. My boyfriend and I told them we did not want the ashes, just for her to be put down. When I went to pay for the remainder of the vet bill, I was charged an extra $56 for them to dispose of her body, which I was never once told about. I've had pretty good experiences here but today my heart dropped when I saw the extra charge I was never once told about. It was kind of a slap in the face to be honest. No one said a word to my boyfriend and I about us being charged for them to cremate her, but just not give us the ashes. When they asked if we wanted the ashes, we said no, to which they should have told us we would be charged for them to dispose of her body, and yet not a single person even mentioned it Really expected better from them. :( I had paid for the cremation service. What I'm mad about is the added charge that I was not told about. I was not told that there would be an additional service for the disposal of the body, and you as a pet hospital should not assume all your clients know that there is two seperate fees for cremation if you don't get the ashes. It isn't "unfair criticism," it's me reviewing the service I had received. As a pet hospital you should discuss ALL fees with your patients. If someone says no to the ashes, then you should tell them that there will be a fee because they are not taking the ashes and the body still has to be disposed of. I shouldn't have to deal with hidden fees when I put an animal down because you assumed that I know of all charges and fees for services I have not been told about.

I wish I could give this review zero stars, like it deserves. Our 15 year old dog had a seizure/stroke (still not sure what it was). He’s back to his old 15yr old self today, despite Rutland Pet hospital’s decline to even look at him (they were still open for a half hour-the rude receptionist told us cold-heartedly that even though the vet was on his last appointment of the day, he wasn’t willing to see us!). Thankfully Roofus was fine once we got him to Fairfield Animal Hospital. Big thanks to Hospitals that have great staff, nurses and vets like Fairfield. Rutland Pet hospital should go there for some training in compassion and professionalism.

here I go first of all Jackson my little man is 100 % better .....that said this hospital got Jackson in there on basically no notice and Jackson liked his doctor that looked at him so that was comfortable and like I said Jackson is hoping around like a jelly bean now that makes us both happy ......I wanted to make this as positive as possible ....I wished they had some kind of a gernne or movable ramp/table getting Jackson in and out of the car to the hospital was alittle scary only because I wasn't sure if the problem wasn't his rear end / hind quarter or a tick that said thank you very much rutland vet hospital and thanks doc I didn't get your name but Jackson thanks you all as well

I have to say that although I've taken all my dogs there over last 19yrs, this was the first over several years w/Dr Jay. He covered for another vet there and did procedure on my 14yr old dog that required surgery on a shoulder growth that kept turning black and grew over 4mos until I could get him in for removal and biopsies. He called me during surgery to address others that I was previously told not to worry about but did do since it would be best to do so. Thankfully, all biopsies came back safe. His laser surgery work was amazing with zero discomfort, bleeding, oozing and scarring from sutures. Super clean from pick up (I was surprised how clean the wounds were from pick up which helps so much in recoup). The post op was was amazing with no post op complications. I would highly recommend Dr Jay. Thanks also to his amazing team that assisted prior, during and post to make this experience a great one!

Brought our dog in for the first time after rehoming him to catch up of vaccines. They were very thorough and had a good look at our pup. It was a pleasant experience except I would have liked more information... I am not sure if she is otherwise healthy. Is she over/underweight for her age... Does she seem like she has a month a year to live. Was her heartbeat normal... The vet seemed satisfied. I would have liked to know if what I feed is good as a diet... I went feeling I'd leave with a big hole in my wallet. It was very affordable however my animal is my child... I'd rather go into debt to know I'm doing all the best I can...

Recently got thyroid meds for our cat no warning label as to handle with care especially that my 8 month pregnant wife definitely should not have been handling them as it transfers readily to the baby. When we question them about this just claimed ignorance( which was b.s. imo) not what you want from essentially a pharmacist.they said they would rectify this going forward so others also wouldn't be affected but wouldn't you know next time same drug no warning!

He must sense there is genuine care and kindness. My cat is always better when he returns home. This is an awesome place to bring your small pets, like Guinea pigs and rabbits. I took my wifes GP , to them a few weeks ago. She was not feeling good, and going downhill fast. Sad ending... our little GP didn't make it ????. (RIP Zelda) But the vet called us a few days ago to actually see if she was ok. Thank you for actually caring for what most vets won't even look at. Brought my sweet bunny in about 5 weeks ago as she was acting very out of normal. DR.J was amazing and made sure to check everything and discovered she had GI. I have never gone to a vet where I've felt the vet truly cared about my situation. Felt like we were the only patient there. I have been to many vets in Edmonton and Kelowna and this was by far the most pleasant visit during such a stressful time. We brought our 1.5 year old German Shepherd to this animal hospital after he suddenly became weak, and partially paralyzed in his back end. He was unable to get up from a laying position (normally a very energetic and VERY strong dog). Dr. Cleroux completely ignored my moms suggestions of possible tick paralysis even tho many of his symptoms were consistent with tick paralysis, and the dog had been in an area with lots of ticks, even after she was very persistent with the suggestion. He didn't even check the dog for ticks. He drew some blood work, which didn't get sent out for 2 days!!!!!! We called the next day to find out if they had lab results yet as the dog was getting worse, and were told the blood work was being picked up that evening and should have results by tomorrow.... and that they were going to be closed at 6, so we couldn't bring him in again. Our dog would have been completely paralyzed by then as he was getting much worse over the 24 hr period! We took him straight to Fairfield animal hospital and they gave the dog a medication that kills ticks within 30 mins and Farley was SOOOO MUCH BETTER within an hour!!! Why he wouldn't listen to our tick suggestion in tick season is beyond me. I would never go back there!

This is one of the best vet clinics I've been to. The front staff are always so friendly and they are very punctual for appointment times. Today, I came in with my senior rabbit and Dr. Charissa Ridderbroek was amazing. She took the time to fully examine her and listen to her full history. She was very knowledgeable about rabbit health and did not try to push any extra procedures. We left with some very reasonably priced medications and the exam fee was one of the cheapest we've had to pay for an "exotic pet exam." If you have rabbits, this is the place to bring them. Highly recommend! Thank you to all the staff at Rutland pet hospital for the exceptional care you gave me and my rabbit. Update Aug 2021, we switched our pup over to this vet hospital and we are so happy we did. We got Dr. Gordon and she is amazing. She is very caring and intelligent. She listens to all our concerns and was very thorough in checking up on our pup Kito's health. This is the best vet to go to for amazing care for your pup. You would be in good hands! Also, the front staff and vet techs are amazing as always!

We had to put our dog down recently as she was old and sick. Dr.Jay and his staff are absolutely amazing! There were so kind, understanding and caring in a difficult time. Dr.Jay gave his honest opinion and did not push any expensive procedures on us whatsoever. They were kind enough to send us a condolence card in the mail with her paw print. Hi....we are the new parents of a lovely Aussie Shepard puppy and just had our final vaccines done at Rutland Pet Hospital. The staff are amazing and the vaccine "Puppy Package" is the best price in town. Dr Jay Cleroux is by far the BEST vet we have ever experienced. He spent alot of time with us answering all of our training and health questions. He is extremely compassionate and gentle with our pup and Jericho adores him. We highly recommend Dr. Jay and give Rutland Pet 2 BIG dew claws up.

I'm happy coming here, and so is Roland. We are always greeted with smiles and care. For the last visit Roland had his boy bits removed and an additional lump. The vets take the time to talk to me and make sure I'm comfortable. Surgery went well and Roland is back to 100%! Thank you!

We have taken both our rabbits to Rutland vet, one for a neuter and one for a spay. We did our research beforehand looking for an exotic vet that was highly knowledgeable in rabbits. Rutland vet is very efficient in reminding you of your appointments as well as following up post-OP to make sure your pet is recovering properly. We won't take our bunnies anywhere else!

I take great issue with the comments from 13wolfy13, and as a longtime client of Dr. DeYaegher, I need to respond. Dr. DeYaegher has been our avian vet since 2006. Since then, we have had 4 birds under his care, three of which have had special needs. Jake, a budgie born with one eye, and Skipper, a budgie severely abused and neglected by his owner before us. Jake and Skipper both had special physical and emotional needs and were cared for by Dr. DeYaegher with attention to those concerns. Finn, another budgie who came to us from the SPCA, whose previous owner was overly aggressive with her and broke her leg, is fearful of hands, and that issue, as well, is handled with care by Dr. DeYaegher. Katie, our cockatiel, is normal and healthy. Although, Last year, Katie broke a wing feather on a weekend and had to be rushed to Rutland Pet Hospital. We had never experienced any emergencies with our birds before this so we were quite panicked and scared, but Dr. DeYaegher was there to provide immediate emergency care for Katie and excellent follow-up, for which we are grateful. All of our birds have received excellent care from Dr. DeYaegher. Not only does he care about the health and welfare of our birds but also cares about us, their owners. We take our birds in to see him for regular nail and wing care and during every visit he is conscientious and thorough with our birds and understanding of our needs as their owners. The technicians who help him with our birds are gentle and caring, as well. All the staff at Rutland Pet Hospital are terrific.

We recently had to say goodbye to our 13-1/2 year old Lab, and Dr. Cleroux and his staff were as amazing as anyone could be in this incredibly sad & emotional situation.
