REVIEWS OF Fairfield Animal Hospital IN Kelowna

Fairfield Animal Hospital is our "after-hours" emergency pet hospital and we are thankful to the entire team of staff that when our pet has an emergency they are open 24/7 to help! Our dog started having seizures last week in the middle of the night and thankfully there was a fantastic and caring Vet able to treat our dog and get us started with what was needed to stabilize him before our regular vet could see him. Of course, not a week later, our dog ate chocolate late at night and we had to rush him in for treatment - once again, we had a great experience. Thank you again for being there us Fairfield Animal Hospital!

Doug Lobay

We had to put our 18 year old shih zhu down because of her failing health. The office was extremely helpful and professional with the entire process. The front office staff and vet were excellent and supportive. Thank you.

Emma Lujan

I called in on Sunday at 9pm because my dog was having an allergic reaction. They saw us immediately and followed strict social distancing and were wearing full PPE. They were very helpful and gracious and my dog made a full recovery after their treatment. Thank you!

Kate Dawn

I trust the staff at Fairfield with two of the most important parts of my life; they have been kind, gentle and incredibly thorough with my cats' needs. I live out of town and am so thankful for their after hours availability. Thank you Dr. Anna Huber and the rest of the wonderful staff for being there for our pets.

Sean Patrick Hogan

Amazing staff and veterinary services! The doctors are very knowledgeable, compassionate, and take the time to explain things. Staff give so much of themselves, it's clear how much they care about the animals and people they serve...even in horribly difficult situations. The generous and kind treatment of the animals the BCSPCA Kelowna Branch brings to you is appreciated. Thank you team!

Calle Mirkowsky

Super clinic, conscientious and caring staff, highly skilled doctors! My dog was very sick requiring emergency care and exploratory surgery. The staff at Fairfield took great care of him and explained everything to me in detail along the way. While any medical procedure can be costly, I felt the doctors only did what was necessary and the clinic was very fair regarding our final invoice. If you are looking for top notch service and a team of veterinarians you can trust, Fairfield Animal Hospital is the place!

Simply needed to buy some food - called ahead and was told that they would hold a case of food for me under my name for me to come pick up and write my name down on it, specifically. Half an hour later, my boyfriend goes to pick it up and is met with the most rude and unintelligent staff member that can't comprehend that there is food set aside there under my name and that we don't have an account there. A simple enough transaction that could be met with an iota of friendliness... suffice to say I will not be using this vet for future services... unable to easily handle one pack of food, no way in hell would I trust these people with an actual emergency. They also made sure to inform my boyfriend that they are an emergency hospital - we are very sorry for requesting your other services - will not happen again!

By far the best veterinarian in town !

The team at Fairfield Animal Hospital are super patient and friendly. We had an emergency with our kitty Scarlett, and they made sure to give us lots of updates while she was in their care and even though they are a busy clinic, made sure to let us know we could call them at anytime to check in to see how she is doing. This team is super supportive and they do everything they can to send you fur baby home feeling better. A special shoutout to Natalie, thank you for everything ????

Marjorie Gonzalez

We had to take our elderly cat to them multiple times once his health started to decline. When it came time to say goodbye, they were incredibly compassionate and made the entire process so much easier to go through. It was a great peace of mind to know that they are available 24 hrs if we needed them. I hope we don't have to go to them anytime soon, but if we do I will not think twice.

Alexandra Carnio

I had a wonderful experience with Fairfield Animal Hospital. Their team was extremely caring and compassionate and had great follow-through. I was so impressed that they called the next day to check-up on my dog, this is not something I had experienced before with previous emergency vets. I hopefully will not have to return but know that I am in good hands if I do!

Above and Beyond is the best way to describe the staff at Fairfield Animal Hospital in Kelowna: Amazing, professional, caring, knowledgeable. They provide accurate quotes and appropriate medication - and every time they follow up. They even sent me a welcome package for my cat Fuzzies :-) I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a vet clinic or emergency services.

I wanted to put out an honest review of Fairfield Animal hospital. Yesterday my little dog Ozzy had to be taken there for an emergency. They took my phone call compassionately at early hours of the morning and I came right in. My little dog gotten so sick there was no choice I had to euthanize. I was completely devastated about his loss and they could have easily taken any amount of money from me in my grief; or drew out the process. They were truly the most compassionate, kind, thoughtful, caring and competent staff. I got an opportunity to say goodbye to my little dog my way and had options and control. When I read the bad reviews I want to make sure you hear just how good they were during an incredibly difficult time. ???? and to say Thankyou for making Ozzy's last moments a little bit easier.

We cannot Thank all the staff at Fairfield Animal hospital enough. I had to make the difficult decision to have our beloved Jasper put down Feb 5th 2020 The Dr we had and all the staff were so amazing through our difficult time and thought of the little things we hadn't been able to think of during this painful process. We cannot thank you all enough for your compassion you helped make this sad time a little easier for us.

Nexxa

DO NOT take your fur babies to this horrendous clinic if you want them to survive!!!!! I assure you they will milk you for all of your money and not give them the proper care they deserve. I’m not really understanding how this place is still allowed to even operate? It’s so disheartening and I can’t comprehend why there isn’t any other emergency pet care options in the valley. How many more animal’s lives have to be taken before something is done? Our fur babies DESERVE BETTER!!! I’d give a zero…but unfortunately that isn’t an option.

Dr. Ganton and his staff were amazing. They kept my best friend alive and did everything they could for him. I'm forever in debt to him and how staff of lovely, caring technicians. I cannot say enough good things about him. He's very personable, polite, non-judgmental and caring. Since Roach passed away I haven't been able to make it in to thank him, but I intend to. I haven't had a chance to grieve yet so I better do that so I'm not a sobbing mess when I thank him for all his hard work. I love Fairfield.

Jim MacLaren

The team at Fairfield were so professional and empathetic. They helped us get through a very unfortunate situation when, on day 1 of our BC vacation, our little Pomeranian broke her leg. They fast tracked her surgery appointment, and were vert patient in explaining each step of the treatment. Great group of people ????

Dale Reinheller

We want to thank the doctors and staff for the amazing emergency care that we received at Fairfield when we took our dog in last week. It was super scary for us as we thought we were going to loose him. They were caring, compassionate, detailed and put up with our endless questions and followup phone calls. You are the BEST!

Sarah S

We have been taking our four pets here for over 10 years but a terrible experience last week left us feeling horribly unwelcome to ever return and we are unlikely to recommend this place to anyone else because of it. We brought our dog and cat in to determine if they had fleas and the Vet (who was great) examined and reported it as inconclusive but we did learn that our dog likely had a life threatening heart condition, which was hard to take but we appreciated the consult. Still in shock and tears from that news, we went out to the lobby to pay and the receptionist’s first words to us was to yell to us to "LEAVE AND WAIT OUTSIDE" without any explanation! We were so confused! How we were supposed to pay? And why was she speaking SO rudely to us? We completely understand the policy to not have any contagious animals in the main area (even though ours weren’t actually determined to be) and we are happy to oblige but she could have definitely expressed that to us in a WAY more respectful manner rather than yelling it abruptly across the lobby to us without offering any context or care! I asked why couldn’t we have been allowed to simply wait with our pets in the exam room then and be billed in there instead of forced to wait with our pets in the hot car? And the receptionist replied in the most condescending tone “well most people don’t have a problem with it!” We also thought it was worth mentioning to her that we didn't appreciate the way she was choosing to speak to us about it and her response was "well, that's the policy" - again, we said we had no problem with the policy, we do have a problem with the way she was speaking to us. At no point did she ever acknowledge that nor did she ever just say “sorry”. To make matters actually worse, we received a call from another receptionist afterwards who we thought was calling to apologize for the way we were treated but the conversation actually turned into her basically telling us that WE caused a huge fuss! Of all the places that I would hope could understand the importance of being sensitive and caring in their approach to customers, this would be the place but they failed miserably. I suggest they invest quality time to coach some of the staff on how to just simply be caring and gentle.

Tracy

Absolutely NO professionalism here!!! I was spoken too VERY rudely, my dog was not handed to me properly and if I had not caught him (he's a pomeranian), he would have fallen at least 4.5 feet! ???? This young lady vet was just applorable!! I've been bringing my pets there since 1996, and there is no way I would EVER bring my kids there EVER AGAIN!

Kathleen Belliveau

The staff at Fairfield are second to none. They are beyond kind, and made the last moments of my dogs life as easy as they could. We lovingly hope we never have to see them again, but if you do, they will take care of you. ❤

Emma J

Kelowna is so lucky to have Fairfield and the extremely kind and knowledgeable staff that work there. They all so clearly love animals deeply, I always feel the highest confidence leaving my dog there if need be. Thank you Fairfield from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of our babies, and being an amazing comfort for the parents:)

Chris Little

Their kindness and empathy was overwhelming and greatly appreciated in a time of stress. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable; I would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone.

Marantha Neufeld

Thank you so much for the kindness and warmth your staff and facility offerd during our time of grieving. I cannot express how much the support and gentle words have meant to us. Thank you ????

Positive Vet experiences comes from professionals that are enthusiastic about helping our animals receive the prescribed treatment as comfortably as possible. Fairfield Animal Hospital ensures the individual and the their companion is welcomed from the very first interaction. Keep up the good work guys!

Terrible attitude displayed by front desk clerk!! Compassion should be a prerequisite for anyone in the position of first contact with clients.

I don't even know how to thank the doctors and staff at Fairfield who took care of our Ivy at the end of her beautiful life. She became ill suddenly (likely a brain tumor) and everyone was so kind, caring and supportive to her and us. It was the hardest day of our lives to have to put her sleep and this amazing hospital staff really took care of us. Thank you for everything you do!

It was Christmas Eve and no other place was open. Luckily, I found this place and visited for my cat. Every staff was very friendly and especially the doctor who checked my cat, her name was Laura, was truly caring and helpful. Thank you very much.

I’m new to Kelowna and was calling around to get a good price for my dogs vaccination. Not only are they 24 hour vet but they are so wonderful there. I had to take him in for kennel cough and they made me feel so relaxed and reassured. Of course taking your pet to the vet is expensive but they are worth it! The staff is so knowledgeable and the vet I use really knows about pets!! For the high anxiety dog Mom that I am, I highly recommend!!!!!

reign4life

Terrible. Came in with a cat that clearly had a bad ear infection. Talked to 2 useless vets who didn't seem to think that was the problem and wanted him to get an MRI despite every bit of information leading to obvious ear infection. They just want you to spend more money on tests that will show absolutely nothing but insist it's the right way to go. This place has been more than disappointing. If I could, I'd give it 0 stars.

Angie Ludvigsen

We were in need of a Vet for our 10.5 yr old paralyzed dachshund who began experiencing further paralysis in his front arm. Dr Ganton at South Mission Vet Clinic was recommended and I was able to get an appt. the next morning. He was awesome, sensitive, reasonable about not going thru extensive tests and bloodwork and focused on quality of life. He sent us on our way with meds and instructions feeling hopeful but also knowing that it may be unsuccessful. He was encouraging and thoughtful. Heather was also amazing and kind. We will definitely return and were pleased with the care he and his staff provided.

Thank you for always treating Frys emergencies every time we’re back for the Holidays! He always seems to get into trouble here! Your team’s so caring and loving towards him! Forever grateful!!

I recently visited Fairfield under unfortunate circumstances, my senior cat was having breathing issues. Unfortunately I had to put him down, it was a very hard time- but everyone on the team there was so sensitive & kind. I was deeply moved that they also took the time to send me not only a sympathy card but also a paw print & poem for my cat. I would highly recommend their services.

Terrible and Traumatic be Warned My cat Hunter was 17 years old and suddenly one night he was not doing well at all. He couldn't walk and it looked like his stomache was cramping and he was drooling. I ached for him. I called the vet as they were the only emergency hospital open. I knew my cat was dying it was his time. Of course I didnt want him to suffer the way he was. So I called Fairfield Animal Hospital and exsplained the situation. I also told them that I had just moved so my finances were nil and I didnt get paid for another 10 days was there anything they could do? They said they could put my cat down if I surrendered him. I asked could I at least hold him when you put him down? I exsplained that he had been my companion for 17 years. They said NO it was against their rules. I started crying and told them Id call them back. I decided my cat's suffering was more inportant than my feelings so I called them and told them I was coming in. Long story short they made me wait 1/2 an hour cradeling and rocking my cat in my arms then they said the vet said I could hold him when they put him down. I was overjoyed. They took him away to put a catheter in him and 40 MINUTES later I was frantic. I started going around the clinic calling out for anyone!!! What were they doing to my cat!!!!!! Finally the lady comes and tells me my cat was in bad shape and they had a hard time putting the catheter in. So I finally get back to my sweet pet and they finally give him the needle and its over. Im of course crying. Then the lady says I have to take him. I said cant you keep him for me until I get paid. NO she says its against the rules. Then she says CAN'T YOU PUT HIM IN YOUR FREEZER AT HOME? I almost puked. Sure right next to my meetballs and icecream. So I had to take my cat and leave. I called my regular vet the next morning as soon as they were open and exsplained what happened. They took my cat right away and kept him for me until I was paid. Also my vet charged me 40 dollars for that service plus creamation. Fairfield wanted 75 dollars for creamation alone. Such a horrible end for such a beloved companion. They make me sick with their lack of compassion and care through that whole process. BE WARNED I have read other reviews and see that there are way to many similar experiences. Shame on you Fairfield and to the Management quit telling people to call your office if we have concerns. READ THE POSTS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!! Or I will start a campain on facebook about your clinic and some obviously needed new staffing. GET IT TOGETHER

I have been going to this vet ever since my cat got deathly ill 3 years ago. They were the only 24hr vet so I had no choice. They made me pay for overnight care for my cat and yet left him alone for long enough to chew out his catheter.. making him more sick and costing me more money. They consistently mess up my cats food order and leave them without food. Don’t get me wrong.. they have been helpful at times and there are a couple staff members that I like.. but I’ve given this vet WAY too many chances. A disgusting amount of negligence at this Vet.

mamamaddd

So many good things to say about this place. After taking care of my girls’ stitches, they saved her from a near death rattlesnake bite. We called nearly ever hour for updates and everyone was so kind and informative and patient! Thank you all so much! We really appreciate everything you’ve done for us.

Richard W.

This has been my dogs vet for years. I've had pets put down here. They are very compassionate. Business is very clean. Polite staff. Can be busy at times but they do their best. Don't forget this is an emergency vet hospital also, so getting busy isn't abnormal. They sell dog and cat food. Also toys and treats. Be aware that this is an emergency vet hospital, so they charge an emergency fee. I myself use pet insurance, to fray some of the cost. No vet is cheap..

Filip Blazek

If I could give a lower review, I would! Check out my review on their Facebook page! These people are butchers at best! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! Please take your pets to Dr. Oz at Rose Valley!

Great place to bring your pets. Friendly, helpful, thoughtful, kind staff. Used to go elsewhere, which I won't mention, thankfully s friend recommended Fairfield, I was absolutely in love with Fairfield after our first visit! Our dogs too!! :D thanks Fairfield!!

Chris Whitney

Great vets! Great staff! Always helpful and always follow-up to make sure everything is going well after our appointments. Our dog has had some issues with his ears over the last few years. Everyone is always so nice to him and to us when we come in. They clearly love the animals that they are helping. They have taken great care of us and I would gladly recommend them to friend, family or anyone else that needs veterinary services.

Fairfield Animal Hospital is the best vet I've ever dealt with. Having lived in several major cities in Canada, I've had dealings with many veterinarians over the years and none come close to the level of service and care they can provide. I've been bringing my cats to Fairfield for nearly 10 years and have always had nothing but very positive experiences with these folks.

Dani Birtwistle

When our 18 year old cat needed to be put down the staff were amazing with her and with us. Even after she was gone we were still receiving their support. I have two more cats now and I wouldn't dream of taking them anywhere else!

Kaitl’n Thayer

SO beyond thankful of the service we received from this vet clinic! I will continue to use this clinic and recommend others do the same! ????

Chris

I have been a customer of Fairfield for a number of years. I have two cats and take them there for their check-ups. Both of our cats are on a Veterinary diet meaning I have to go to Fairfield about 3 times a month to pick up food. Most of my running around town is done on my pedal bike as Kelowna is a great City for this. Unfortunately there is nowhere to lock up a bike near this establishment and there are numerous homeless people hanging around the area due to the nearby Bottle Depot. On a few occasions I have mentioned that it would be very nice if they have a bike rack to lock a bike to. There has been no movement in this area even though a bike rack would not take up much space. It is very difficult to drag a bike into a veterinary office and not have it fall over or be disruptive to the other customers. So with some research I found another vet that had a bike rack near their door and will be getting my food from now on from this vet. I will still take my cats to Fairfield for regular vetrinary services, as I think they're great but unfortunately for now I will have to take my $150 a month business elsewhere.

Amber Nillson

Awesome staff! Awesome pricing! state of the art facility with an on-line medical record of ur dog! So convenient!

Bran

If I could leave 0 stars I would! Horrible experience, this place cares more about the money than they do about your pets! Most expensive place I have ever been! They are the only emergency vet and use that to completely take advantage of people! Never again! Absolutely disgusting, should be ashamed of yourselves!

Relentless Rose Reviews

When I think Fairfield Animal Hospital. I think credit card debt. I can’t say they’ve ever performed miracles on my pets I’ve brought in, I also can’t say I’ve felt my animals were leaving the hospital confident in their condition. I utilize this vet for emergency hours, knowing the bill will be usually a minimum of a few hundred dollars if I’m lucky. It’s odd but I feel like they aren’t ever quite sure what’s going on with my pet. Although they’ll provide pain meds, “just in case” the animal may be in pain. Again these pain meds don’t run cheap for a single dosing. They hike the prices higher than street value OxyContin. I was charged $20CAD for a single dose of eye drops for my cat, who could of gone without, seeing as I had the same prescription of Tobradex for him at home. Side Note: The entire bottle cost me the same price as the one dose they put in his eyes. . . This is a veterinarian practice that has all the check marks for falling into “the money is more important than the animals category.”

Jeff Piattelli

Avoid those crooks AT ALL cost. It’s no wonder they are the worst rated Vet in town. Hadn’t even been in the place 5 min and they hand my wife who’s with our son a $1800 invoice (that was just to hold our cat overnight. I can only imagine what they would bend you over for with surgeries) and then say they refuse to release the cat “in its condition.” After telling her it wasn’t her cat to hold hostage and we wouldn’t pay that she said she would call the SPCA and pretty much threatened to have our cat taken away. And let’s get this straight, my cat ate some foam and now is having trouble eating, it’s not like we are abusive owners, the farthest from. And these people have the nerve to threaten us like we are some crazed owners?? Never again and I hope you don’t either

Been going here for 6 years since our little Tucker was a puppy. Very nice and helpful staff, open 24/7 and have many great things to say about this place! The best imo.

I am incredibly grateful for this 24 hour facility. My cat was hit by a car in Penticton, late at night. A good samaritan brought her into Fairfield - they cared for her and nursed her back to health. Since my contact info was out of date, they were unable to contact me. I had made a Facebook post about my lost kitty and a wonderful employee of Fairfield let me know my cat was at their facility. When I went to pick her up, I noticed that everyone working there was professional, courteous, and organized. I am forever grateful to these folks, and amazed that there are people who work there around the clock to help out with emergencies after hours.

My 11 week old pup was suffering from aspirated pnemonia. We also had to go to fairfeild animal hospital in kelowna. The wanted $130 off the hop for emergency and then $80 for the check not including meds or tests. Then before they would even take or touch my dog they needed to do a MANDATORY parvo exam of $40 freaking dollars!!!! If its mandatory I cant justify having to pay for it. Long story short the vet said he has pnemonia and would die at home and needed I.V fluids and to be monitored over night. As soon as she found out I didnt have that kind of money right up front as it was $1000 PER NIGHT!!!!!!!! she wrote up my bill gave me meds and sent us home even though I was balling telling her he will probabaly die then and I cant even do payments!!!!!!!!!??????? It's such a money grab!!!!! She didnt even tell me what I could feed him or have him drink since he was refusing food but still drinking some water. They just sent us home expecting our 11 week old puppy to die because what we didnt have $3000 that night to fork out to them... they never ever called to even see how everything went the following weeks. It disgusts me at how people can be treated and demanded of money. If they were actually compassionate then where the heck was our wellness call.......

We are from out of town and brought our sick dog in at 1am. They were very fast and did a wonderful job getting all of the info they needed. We got a call from the doctor a short while after as we were not allowed to go into the building due to covid and she did a fantastic job of telling us what was wrong and what needed to be done. Obviously there is going to be a high cost for am emergency vet service but if you are willing to spend the money they have really good service. Our dog Forest is doing better now thanks to the advice of the doctor. And they sent the information of what they did to our vet in Alberta to keep everyone informed and it was really appreciated. Just be prepared to spend 200 bucks just to have your pet seen let alone costs on top of that

Thank~you for being there in our time of need, when it was Sundance's time to leave us. We appreciate your being open at the late hour and your thoughtful and caring attentiveness. Thank~you also for the "paw-print" and signed condolances . We shall most certainly be referring your establishment to friends & family. kind regards stacy & Lori

2.5 years later and I am still devastated by my experience here. The vet and assistants were terribly rude. I brought my cat there in the middle of the night, he was throwing up non-stop. They told me he had diabetes and I was a horrible pet owner I should have known and that he was dying slowly for a long time and it was all my fault. THEN, after actually testing him they said they were wrong and he had pancreatitis. There was nothing I could do and it wasn't my fault at all. After I had cried for 24 hours straight believing I was a horrible person, they didn't even apologize for misdiagnosing him. They told me I was an awful pet owner before even examining him. I literally still cry awake at night because of the way they treated me and my cat. My poor boy was put down with soot on his face, by people that told me it was my fault and then retracted that. I pray every day that I never, ever have to take an animal to this place ever again. Do not take your pet here if you have a choice.

May Fertch

In emergency, they take adavantage of the client. Overcharging them because of their dire situation. Charging 4 times the amount because your beloved pet needs help. They are Highway robbers. Especially during these extraordinary times with so many forced to be off work.

Tanya Rodgers

My schnauzer has a liver condition and it makes treatment options limited and risky. Jane is the only vet I have ever met who has taken the most appropriate risk management approach to her treatment. We were treated extremely well and the communication was second to none. I would rate our experience as exceptional and I just moved from Calgary were we had access to the CARE Center so my standards are very high. Thank you for be there to take such good care of Cara!

Fairfield animal hospital will always hold a special place in my heart! When I was losing my beautiful Angel and I was not working, they were the only place that would help me! Their staff was so gentle and understanding, thank you doesn't even seem enough for what they did! I make sure to let everybody know what a great team of veterinarians Fairfield has! Thank You Fairfield! ❤❤❤❤

A big thank you to Fair Field Animal hospital for taking such good care of my fur babies this week! My dog is super timid and was so frightened she was shaking. Our new veterinarian Anna was so sweet and patient with her. She was knowledgeable, kind, gentle, thorough and took exceptional care of us. All the staff at this clinic are wonderful and this is the most affordable vet I’ve ever been too. The prices are more than fair and they provide outstanding care. I highly recommend them to anyone in the Kelowna area.

Jen Hewlett

These people saved my cat’s life in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago. I will be forever grateful they were there. Everyone I dealt with was caring and helpful. It wasn’t cheap, but my best friend is alive and thriving, and that is priceless <3

S K

I have two animals I bring here, one is a service dog, the other is my personal dog. Consistently good customer service, there has not been an issue not resolved to my satisfaction. I honestly cannot compare prices as I see some complaints over them. They seem comparable to other places I have used.

Rachelle Moreau

I'm really sorry but these people charge you $130 just for saying it is an emergency and getting you in the door, then there is a $75 examination fee on top of this. Yes the word emergency costs you $130! What gives you the right to take advantage of desperate people like that???? That is absolutely rediculous, and you should be ashamed of your place of business to get richer on innocent people who are trying to help their pets? Honestly I would really love a justification for this fee????

Kirk Warkotsch

Not a great experience I had to bring my dog in as in the middle of the night he started seizing. While the doctors were excellent at the clinic the front staff could not have cared less about my dog, my situation or me. Fast forward a month and I call to have my dogs records moved to my normal vet. Not only do they say they don't have them, but they suggest that I need to bring my dog in for another physical before I can renew his medications. Call my vet to let them know this, and after some digging they find the records which Fairfield "lost". It is unfortunate that Fairfield is the only 24/7 emerg. option in Kelowna.

Kelsey McPhail

Over the years I have needed Fairfield Animal Hospital for 3 dogs. Each time was a life or death scenario, and each time they rose to the occasion. Having a 24 hour vet who cares is a blessing. Thank you for the work you do for our furry family members. Would highly recommend their services!

Aurey Harris

After being wired back to this emergency line dozens of times calling all over the city to help our pet rat and being denied. They told us no one could help us here at least 3 times then they checked and said somebody could help our critical care pet. They took our pet had us wait in our car for 2 hours before even telling us anything. Then after I had to call them they said they'd give us a call back right away from the doctor. Another 30 minutes later they do and tell us in as long and drawn out a way as possible that she has a upper respiratory tract infection. (Very common in rats) and would be prescribed an antibiotic. She had already been diagnosed with this. We just needed a confirmation and the medication. Then we needed to wait another 30 minutes for them to eventually come out with the bill of nearly 300 dollars and the medication. They used no ventilator just hung out with our rat struggling to breathe for 3 hours and eventually gave us the bar minimum medication for 300 dollars. I'm not expecting them to drop everything for our pet. I know they have urgent matters but a little communication would have been nice. Very disappointing care.

After going to Fairfield for the past few years for all three of our pets we were extremely disappointed in the service and treatment we received today. One of our cats suffers from IBS and has flare ups every few months. Dr Casey initially diagnosed him and prescribed a drug that we administer to him when he has these flare ups to help settle his symptoms. We have been picking up this prescription as needed for the past two years with no issues. Today, our cat happened to suffer a flare up and we had one dose left from the last refill. I called as usual, to refill and was told that they needed him to come in for an appointment before they would give us this drug. I can appreciate that they want to see him to do a check up as this drug can cause some nasty side affects, however, couldn’t help but feel like this was an opportunity for them to make some money off this situation (Dr Casey was away which they couldn’t say for how long, and this vet refused to help us without seeing him). If they had told us the last time I refilled it that they would need to see him before they could re-prescribe it, I would have happily brought him in when he wasn’t experiencing a bad flare up. At the best of times he is not a friendly cat, and from having gone through so many vet visits to find out what was initially wrong he becomes extremely stressed and aggressive when we have to bring him in (which only adds to the severity of the flare up). When I asked when I could get him in their response was end of August or that I book in at their other clinic, which we’ve never been to, or I’d have to bring him in today as an emergency visit. It’s so disappointing that they were so unaccommodating and while this may seem minor to some, dealing with these flare ups is hard on our cat but we have a simple fix that helps him so much. I would have appreciated them trying to work with us more, whether they prescribed just 3 doses to help get him a little better before bringing him in, or enough until we could talk to Dr Casey, or even giving us the entire prescription and letting us know that before they could provide it again they would need to see him. The lack of communication is extremely frustrating and now we are stuck waiting until the end of August for an appointment or paying the cost of an emergency visit, I’m not comfortable bringing him to a clinic. I can say that we will be switching vets to one that can communicate a better care plan for our boy so when we need him looked after we aren’t scrambling to find a solution.

All my experiences with the staff and vets have been really positive. It is obvious they care about the animals they treat, and are very efficient as a business. I've been to several clinics in the Okanagan and Fairfield is my favourite.

Steve Allan

More than happy with ours experiences here.

I was referred here for a CT scan for my dog. I live in Kamloops, so dropping off my dog to a new-to-me clinic, without previously meeting the staff, was a little unnerving. Right from the first phone call, dealing with Fairfield was a pleasure. The staff was professional, courteous, and friendly! They took excellent care of my dog, and answered all my questions. Plus, they were able to direct bill my insurance company which was an added bonus! Highly recommend Fairfield for anyone local, or coming in from out of town.

Fairfield Animal hospital and their staff are truly amazing! Our Little Otis had to be rushed off at 3 am due to a very upset tummy. Laurel was there (chipper as a bird for 3 am, might I add!) with open arms and reassured us that everything was going to be okay. He simply needed some TLC (meds) to get him back to normal and he was in good hands. He spent 2 nights at Fairfield and they updated us every time there was an on hand Vet change over or he had progressed in any way. We even received great photos of him getting some much needed cuddles from Nikki and the other girls which reassured us even more! I cannot say enough about this place as they are truly the best Animal Hospital in town! Thanks again! -S & A (+Otis)

I can’t recommend this hospital more. They are so accommodating and really bend over backwards to help every animal that walks through their door AND to ensure owners feel heard. I loved getting the card in the mail with our pups personalized name tag and they helped us make sure we can afford treatments.

Noelle Skuggedal

Amazing care of my boxer when she needed emergency stitches. Very impressive work and great communication!

My cat became ill on a Sunday and I'm very grateful for the team at Fairfield. They were very attentive to my cats needs and problems. He had to spend several days at the clinic. They were in contact with me several times daily and spent a lot of time explaining what they needed to do and how best to keep him healthy to prevent future flare ups for his medical condition. The level of reassurance was stellar! Big thanks to them!

My English bulldog swallowed something he shouldn't have. The vet did not want to induce him to vomit because the breed has a high risk of aspiration. So she suggested he be put under and have the object removed via endoscopy. Did not think to tell us that anaesthesia is even more risky and not tolerated well with English Bulldogs. If it wasn't an emergency situation, I would have done this research and opted for inducing him to vomit. Instead you have to trust the vet knows what they are talking about. Unfortunately, our dog almost died from the anaesthesia, needed to stay overnight, had blood for bowel movements and could not eat or drink for almost a week afterwards, requiring IV fluids. I would not take him back here as I feel they did not provide proper informed consent prior to surgery, pressuring into the more costly option even though it was not the safest, best option. The staff was friendly. But either the vet did not have all the knowledge she should or was trying to make the most money possible- either way, they have lost my trust.

Surprisingly, the most expensive vet in the valley, yet the most negligent. I am appalled by the care we received of our 3 week old puppy. We brought him into the vet, he was having some diarrhea and looked very dehydrated. He spent a whole the night in the vet and only got his sugars monitored because no one there felt comfortable starting an iv on a puppy. I am not sure how you can call this place an emergency when no one on shift can start an IV on a puppy? Nevertheless, our puppy did not receive fluids until the morning.. by this time it was too late. As the most important window of time is the first 12 hours to get fluids and antibiotic in. He became increasingly ill, couldn’t take any food down orally and stopped pooping. They barely let us see the puppy (10 minute visits).. when I left I felt somewhat assured that our little panda was going to make it through. They told us he wasn’t obstructed (turns out he was) and he was in so much pain we had to put him down. I wanted to go visit him before he got cremated to say goodbye. My mom called ahead to let them know I was coming after my 12 hour shift.. and somehow there was a miscommunication with the vet and the morgue. The lack of communication baffles me.. They told us they forgot to put a note on his box not to take him. I did NOT get to say goodbye to my love one. I am still astonished on how you forget to tell the morgue (I can’t imagine if this was one of my patients).. this is not acceptable for any healthcare place. I believe if they started fluids from day one things could have been different.. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless it is your only option. Over the past 15 years, I have had many negative experiences here. Not to mention this insufficient care cost us 1000 dollars. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Rest In Peace Panda. I wish I got to say my goodbyes.

I've been bringing my pets here for about 10 years and and wouldn't think to go anywhere else in an emergency. Sorry to see they closed their patient practice. Amazing staff, great service

Dr.Ganton and staff at Fairfield are the best! My 17 year old chihuahua Tank is the absolute worst dog at the vet, he was so sick did not know If he would make it, they are so nice to him and give the best care! He is back to his old self 2 weeks later!! ❤️Would recommend to everyone!

From a previous employee: After taking a veterinary office course for a year I started working at Fairfield. I was here for just under 2 years. I was bullied, manipulated, and embarrassed. This was from 3-4 veterinary technicians that terrorized me and others. Yes I did bring this up with management many times, each time they would get warnings but that was it. These people still work there and I still hear stories from others that are currently employees. I find it absolutely disgusting that Fairfield Animal Hospital allows such behaviours from “professionals”. I will not associate myself with a business that allows their staff to torment other staff members for no reason. I will never step foot in that building ever again.

Danielle Fraser

Felt like I was robbed. Made me never want to go back. Quoted me of 1700$ and then when I came to pick up my dog they told me 2500$ . I said I guess I don’t have a choice in paying that extra amount and the technician said no you don’t!

Chad McDougald

Just got a little guy named Levi. Fairfield was gracious enough to give us a no charge meet and greet for this little kitten. I used the online appointment request and it was seamless. They not only accommodated my work schedule but went above and beyond my expectations. The staff at the front counter were amazing. They came over while we waited just to meet him. The vet had a great bedside manner. I wasn’t sure how he would react but he started purring during the exam. They put him at ease which makes me feel confident and comfortable with their care. Would highly recommend to anyone. It was also unexpected to receive a welcome package for visiting and Levi hasn’t stopped playing with his new tunnel.

Was visiting family and had to visit the emergency vet twice in one weekend, so I interacted with several of the doctors. All of them where great, communicative and did a great job. Highly recommended.

Very disappointing experience with this Vet hospital. My Yorkie had broken his femur and tore a tendon on his hind leg. My sons called the clinic trying to be proactive as I was in a meeting and once discovering the situation I met them there. I met my sons in the waiting area and was escorted to a treatment room whereby they let me know they would have to take Xrays to identify how much damage there was. Good so far. Then it went sideways for me. The veterinarian entered the room with the Xrays and explained the extent of the damages. Telling me that they were so extensive the only thing that could be done for him was a temporary splint and then we would need to decide whether we wanted to amputate the leg or fuse it. Adding without hesitation “I just want to let you know up front it’s going to be really expensive and it will cost me thousands.” I’m still trying to process the amputation and he is slapping me with costs. He said they would give my dog some meds for the pain and we could take him home for now. I got my bill for 700.00 was sticker shocked at that point. Fortunately I got another opinion from our own vet who had come out of retirement. He kept our dogs leg splinted and observed it over the next few months and only charged me for a follow up X-ray. My dogs leg healed on its own and he is running around like nothing happened. It made me feel sick about the the original recomended treatment and glad that I had not listened to them for the unnecessary treatment. Needless to say I would never go back or recommend them. Whether it is the entire clinic or just that one veterinarians practices it is unsettling

Lauren Prufer

We had an emergency visit when my 8 mo vizsla cut his side open on a sharp stick. The vet answered all of our questions, the staff were kind and the vet performed an excellent wound closure. Our dog has healed up beautifully with no complications. Thanks!

Once I'm able to get MY cat back from these people, I will never bring him back in again.

Jenny Kimble

Our sweet pup Bea got into something and went down hill very quickly. They got us in right away and tested her and within a few minutes knew what she needed. They took such good care of her and she is resting and healing up wonderfully. We are beyond grateful. It was such a scary experience but they were so positive and hopeful for us and ensured we knew what was going on at every stage. Thank you so much for caring for our Bea. We can’t say enough good things about their service.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We have been lucky to have Fairfield Animal Hospital as the vet for our shitzu for the past 11 years. Everyone on the front counter has always been kind and compassionate. The care given to our little Duke from the nursing care and vet care has always been outstanding. We recently had to have him hospitalized for 2 days and I cannot say enough about the care he was given. I was given updates more than once a day and confident he was in the best hands. He is back home on the road to recovery and I thank everyone who looked after him.

We have been going to Fairfield since my previous dog was a puppy (over 14 years) and have always had great experiences! Dr. Ganton and the team at Fairfield Animal Hospital have saved my dog’s life more than once-bringing him through treatment for heartworm and cancer. Both my dogs have some medical issues and they both have a better quality of life because of how well their medical needs are addressed by everyone at Fairfield Animal Hospital. The entire staff at Fairfield treated us with immense care and compassion on the hardest day of our lives, as we said goodbye to our little buddy a year ago. This meant SO much to us! They not only go well above and beyond what is expected, but they treat us like family! It doesn’t matter if it’s 2:00 in the morning, they have been always been there for us! I will always be grateful to Dr. Ganton and all the staff at Fairfield Animal Hospital for everything they have done for our dogs and our family!!

We only visited this location once. We had to put down our cat Meeko, and Fairfield was very accommodating with the late night emergency services, prompt information, upfront with their fees and very compassionate. If we have another pet we will be taking them here in the future.

Such nice ppl here ! I don't know why they're negative reviews.. if u bring your pet to a hospital it's an emergency let the doctors do the work !! If u bring them to a hospital and complain then fix your pet yourself !! People who work at a vet F@+KIN love animals why would they screw you over ?? ????

The team at Fairfield should wear superhero capes, they are Brilliant, Responsive, Practical and Patient. They treated my best friend like she was their's too and I am so grateful.

Thank you so much for always being there to answer my questions and concerns with honesty and kindness! You guys are the best! :)

I have nothing but praise for Fairfield Animal Hospital.! July 12th I had sent an email that I wanted to bring my cat Kook in for a checkup Sat. Morning at 10am as she didn't seem well. I got a quick response that I could. I than called early Saturday morning asking if I could come in sooner and was told absolutely. When I got there at 8:15am they immediately put us in the cat room so she didn't get upset by all the dogs in the lobby. She had blood work done, an ultrasound, and some xray's. I was than delivered heartbreaking news that she had cancer, and was in liver failure. She stayed for the day for some IV fluid treatment and to have a sample of her liver taken. I received antibiotics, appetite stimulant fluids and nausea pills to take home. The hospital called to check up on her the next day and said to bring her in at anytime if she wasn't feeling well. I did take her in a few times and was always taken care of in a loving and compassionate way. I with a broken heart had to have her put down July 25th. The ladies at the clinic were very empathic and caring during this difficult time. I was quick to receive my Kook's ash's back with a very nice sympathy card and some of her fur that they kindly kept to give to me. I highly reccomend Fairfield animal hospital for your pet's needs.!! Thank You again for taking such good care of us.

Amanda Baumann

I have only had the best experience with all of the staff at Fairfield Animal Hospital. They have truly saved my little Bella a few times!!! She would not be alive today, if it weren't for the entire teams devotion and time!!! I will only ever come to this vet, they are AMAZING:-)

I was devastated when my pet came home from what we can assume being hit by a vehicle. The staff were able to see her when i called, and took wonderful care of us both. We decided to euthanize to end her pain and suffering. The poem with her paw prints is something I will cherish as I will miss her dearly. Definitely reccomend Fairfield.

Darlene Horsford

Unempathetic, unprofessional, incompetent, gouging, these are the best words I can find. Find anywhere else.

I wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Fairfield Veterinary in Kelowna. They went above and beyond in the most loving way to share their sympathy with us by sending us the most emotional poem with our sweet sweet Shakira's paw print on it. We want to say a heartfelt Thank You.

Lois Weinkauf

We had to say goodbye to our little dog Phoebe yesterday. We would like to thank Dr.Ganton and the staff at Fairfield for their caring and professional attitude . It was a very quiet and peaceful experience We will miss her but unfortunately cancer got the best of her

My cat passed away around 10pm at night and when I called them they were so kind and helpful and compassionate. No problems with dropping her off after hours, so nice and patient at the hand off, and very covid safe. Special thank you to Nikki for treating me and my girl so wonderfully.

1 stars is 1 too many. Brought my cat there 2 months ago because he stopped eating, after all these tests, procedures and thousands of dollars and wrongly diagnosing him after 5 trips I brought him to Dr Oz at Rose Valley. He diagnosed him within 15 minutes that his teeth were terrible and had sores all over his mouth and referred me to a specialist because after 2 months it has turned into a huge deal and my cat is almost starved to death. Multiple times they checked his mouth and teeth and said everything was fine. The specialist said it's a very bad case and is going to use it for educational purposes so it isn't something that was easily missed. Complete inexperience and should have been caught the first 5 times he was brought there. Clearly they are just about squeezing every dollar from you and not in the business of caring for animals. Never would I recommend them and be careful because they are affiliated with several other vets in town. Words cannot express the disgust I feel for this establishment.

DONT BRING YOUR REPTILE HERE. We were very disappointed in the lack of knowledge from the exotic pet side of this hospital when we brought in our bearded dragon. Although there is a lack of research for exotic pets as a whole, it honestly felt like the vet was reading off a script to us and didn't know how to diagnose the symptoms. Unfortunately our dragon passed away and although I dont blame this hospital for that I feel that if they had the proper knowledge and training there would be more time for us to spend with her in her final hours rather than their guesswork and having to keep her long term. We barely had 5 minutes to say our goodbyes after she was held for 5 hours on something that could of taken 10 minutes. Which brings up another issue that this hospital just has TOO MUCH going on. There are non stop appointments and calls, we were on hold for close to an hour WHILE OUR PET WAS INSIDE... this is just unacceptable. Either take on more staff or don't accept so many appointments. Why did we pay so much money for such terrible customer service and knowledge?? I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and will not be visiting in the future.

Our second time using this emergency clinic. The first time was for a dog with explosive diarrhea due to Giardia. Seen quickly and treated effectively in a Saturday when our vet was closed. Second time for a dog with a severe cut on the side of his paw when our vet was unavailable. Seen quickly and everyone was kind and professional- vet did a beautiful job with the stitches. Wound is healing well. Some people don’t like the conversations around cost but I appreciate that they are clear and upfront about prices. We will use the emerg clinic again but hoping we don’t ever need to :)

Today I got a call that my cat had been hit and the bill was extremly large to repair her injiries and i just wasn't able to afford it. I chose to put her down. The lady who helped put her down was such an angel. I felt the humanity with this clinic and I can tell they are in it for the love of animals not money.

Cindy Wollman

My husband and I were very pleased with the the staff had that helped us when our fur baby Bear crossed the rainbow bridge they showed compassion and sympathy and treated us all like we were all one big family, so from the bottom of our hearts thank you all so very much for all you do every day

Gitta Jongedijk

We've needed to bring our dog, Dexter, in a few times this year. Every time, the staff have been friendly and accommodating. They've been patient in answering questions and helping to make us and our dog as comfortable as possible. I'm grateful to know Fairfield is there for emergencies!!!

So first of all You're not to tell people to get the vaccine and then we can enter over the phone. Its NOT your decision on what I do with my body. You're a vet if thay even a secretary. Stop forcing your views on others.

My boyfriend and I recently were dog sitting our friends 4lbs Chihuahua who was unfortunately attacked by an owl. Us residing in revelstoke called the salmon arm vet and she promptly told us to go here. We are SO grateful for the vet and staff being open and available late at night. The staff were amazing - not only gave us clear prompt instructions on care but also called the owners and did the same. We felt confident leaving that the treatment and care was explained and thorough. They even gave us a clean blanket for her to travel the 3 hours back in. Wonderful experience during a scary time.

Worst experience ever. Minus 5 stars. Said my cat was loving his belly rubs... ( He hated his belly being touched ) He was in such a terrible state of fear and shock when we went to see him that he didn't even recognize us. He was plunked down unceremoniously on the counter. Disgusting.

My cat got I'll very suddenly. They took her in and diagnosed the problem very quickly. It turned out to be cancer and not a happy ending but everyone was so kind to me. They let me be with her at the end despite covid 19. I am very grate.

Trevor Baker

Tried but the person who answered the phone was abrasive and unfriendly. Why?

(Translated) Very bad experiences !!! It's like a mafia. They put a pressurized opinion. Comes to some sort of blackmail. In which one either says you pay or we put the animal to sleep! Could not take the cat home! One day before, $ 500 was required for treatment! We had to go there because our veterinarian was not available. Obviously no real experiences at all !! This has not even happened to me in the last 30 years with cats. (Original) Sehr schlechte Erfahrungen !!!

This place is awesome. They truly have the pet's best interest in mind, and if you are extremely limited on funds will go out of their way to try to find a solution that fits both your budget and the needs of your pet. We highly recommend them!

I brought my cat in the a few hours after she had had surgery on her paw as she had managed to kick her cast off. The girls I had the pleasure of dealing with were superstars, they were extremely knowledgeable and managed to rebandage her paw despite her being fractious. Would highly recommend Fairfield for emergencies or otherwise.

If I could give minus 100 million stars I would, we brought our 21 year old cat to this horrible place as it was an emergency. We agreed to have the treatment plan they provided done and put down $500. We where told they would do the work and could receive at phone call at 4 am as we brought her in around 11-1130pm that night. Fast forward to 12 in the afternoon the next day I went in to see my cat and the vet told us no one had done any x-rays as they needed to get my cat medicated and comfortable in order to do x-rays and examination, we stated to the vet that was now on we would recieve a phone call which we never did the vet had assured us that the x-rays would be done that afternoon. We had consistantly repeated x-rays numerous times. When i saw my cat she was comfortable but would barely move her head. I advised the vet once the x-rays/radiology was complete to call me and let me know what was determined for injuries based on the x-ray/radiology and examination. 4pm rolls around and I get a call from the vet she say's they took an x-ray and the cost of surgery would be $5000-$10000 as it would require a specialist and my cat probably wouldn't make it. Went in to say go bye to my beloved cat under the understanding the vet knew the injuries based on the x-rays, we put my cat to sleep at 630 pm. The next day being the fact they never offered to show me the x-rays i wanted to see them because i wanted to make sure my decision was based on a x-ray and not just a proffessional opinion since it was a life and death situation and in the circumstance a professional opinion is not enough to base a decision like this. Upon making the request they advised me they never took x-rays as they didn't feel it was necessary to do them even though I approved it and avised them of doing it numerous times they removed it off the bill even though the whole time they lead me to believe they took the x-rays as requested of my cat and then removed it between the time of showing me the bill and it being paid by my mother in law 10 min later at the counter. I found out about this bait and switch the previous day. When the main vet at the time of admission of my cat was confronted she said she did a exam when the my cat first came in and determined the injuries, but a different vet at 12 in the afternoon said that hadn't happened. The vet in the afternoon claimed she did an exam but the first vet said it had already been done. This makes me believe these idiots didn't even do their job as required and said they would. I questioned the expertise as per the main vet after because my cat opened her mouth upon being put to sleep when these idiots told me she couldn't. The first vet had stated since i was questioning her expertise she could now do an x-ray and charge me an additional $195. I took my now dead cat somewhere else to be cremated and got the x-rays that should have been done. I will be taking fairfield to court and having them charged for the negligence of their staff and I will sue the vets individually. I will take this to the paper for those of you who want to create a class action against these fools and please dont take your animals here to be killed for no reason . We feel fairfield just wanted to kill our cat and take our money in an attempt to take advantage of us in a vulnerable situation. I will get the justice for my cat and fight back. #JUSTICEFORTIGGER

We had to rush our dog in late at night after be was attacked by a raccoon. They were great, compassionate, and didn't gouge us. Complimentary suture removal too!

Jessica Keegan

We brought our dog here on Friday evening because she was obviously in pain and we had no idea what was wrong. All of the staff were wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were kind and understanding, and the nurse and the doctor had fantastic “bedside manner”. We really appreciated the time they took to listen to us and check to make sure our dog was going to be okay. We’re really thankful to have a 24 hour emergency vet that we were able to take our pup to, especially one with such lovely staff. Thank you so much!

Silvia Aidar

If you need to go to this place because of an emergency(after hours and your vet is closed), be prepare to spend a lot of money for just a broken paw, they will include in your bill things that you can not believe. But you can say NO, I did not agree with most of the things on the "quote" they gave to me before doing anything to my dog, thank god for it, then the vet tried to "negotiated" with me, ridiculous. The only thing this place care about is how to take money from you. I will contact the veterinarian association to complain about this place. It was the most "outrageous" experience in my life.

We had our kitty have a very severe break on his leg early Saturday morning and Fairfield was amazing. They were quick to get us in, they were so helpful, answered all of our questions and took amazing care of our boy. I would 100x over recommend them to anyone looking for compassion and professionalism. They even let me come visit my boy while he was being looked after and made sure I knew I could call with any questions at any time, day or night. Excellent vet clinic. Thank you all so much from Bumpers mum.

After being a client with Fairfield and a HUGE supporter of them I'm no longer able to recommend or encourage anyone to go here. We've been going to them for over 6 years and have spent nearly $12,000 over that time with them. In the past year they changed their rates drastically, while they used to have a care for the wellbeing of the animals, it seems that their pocketbook now takes full priority. From what used to be $75 for emergencies (that was often waved) to $215 just to get in not to mention the appointment fee and any other fees once you're in there. There is absolutely no loyalty to the animals who have become comfortable there, it's now strictly a money grab. After going to them for years with all three of our dogs, I no longer have a vet for my 17 year old dog. She really trusted her vet and gets extremely nervous in new places, and when we needed their help they simply slapped on a bunch of fees, with no empathy to anyones finical or emotional wellbeing. Disappointed is an understatement.

Peak Environmental

Great place to take your pet if you want to euthanize, not if you want to peruse treatment for an old dog. Refused to insert unitary catheter as it was to hard for them and on the dog even though eailer in the day the other vet on staff said to bring her back in. Sad. Basically signed a death sentence.

I have and will continue to spend hundreds of dollars for emergency Bill's because they are they only emergency vet in the okanagan I am aware of

I Just moved to Kelowna a few weeks ago. My Cat was experiencing a lot of blood in her pee and it was quite uncomfortable for her. My partner and I took her to Fairfield Emergency. These guys are amazing. They gave my cat exactly what she needed to get better and they kept calling to check in. They are very transparent about the fees. The fees are also very reasonable. These guys really care about your pets. I would not take my cat anywhere else. They even did a follow up phone call a week after my cat was in to see how she was doing. Highly recommend

Thank you Fairfield! You have been there for us twice now. Once with our Daschund baby boy , who ingested marijuana..not ours.. and 2nd tonight when our rat baby was struggling to breathe.. you saved and took good care of our boy Bentley and you were soo supportive and caring with putting our sweet Kiki to rest tonight. Special thanks to Laura.. you were there for both experiences and such a sweet soul. Everyone was great both times. DR'S and the whole staff!! Thank you ????

Love this place!! I have had nothing but good experiences with Fairfield Animal Hospital over the years! They are caring, smart, friendly, and do a great job! We brought our dog in yesterday with tick paralysis after being at a different animal hospital who completely mis-diagnosed our dog for 2 days and ignored our pleas to consider ticks! Fairfield staff had him fixed up in a less than an hour, after hours, and he is improving so much over the past 16 hours!

I would like to thank everyone at Fairfield for all they have done for my beloved Spike ,who had a serve case of diabetes, the whole clinic is the best at what they do,and they have compassion for you and your pets. Also a special thank you to Dr,Hans Gelens who I have no words to describe his dedication and expertise ,if there is a higher power to look after your pets he is the one,the best at what he does.I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and when the time comes to add another family member Fairfield will be my vet for sure.Spike is and will always be sadly missed ,but thank you all again for making a terrible time in my life the best it could be .5 stars if I could give more I would.

My cat Finley was hit by a car; We saw him struggling on the road and rushed out to get him. We brought him in the house and he went unconscious. We were sure he was dead, but he came back around so we took him to Fairfield Emergency. The staff were very kind; took him right away and he stayed there overnight to be treated for shock. He was a very lucky cat to not have been run over; in the end the only thing broken was a tooth. Even so; he took a big hit and I'm sure there was a good chance he may have passed away from shock had he not been treated promptly. Thank you Fairfield! Your emergency care was expensive, but our family is very happy that you were there to help Finley.

We have visited Fairfield on 3 occasions - all emergent as this is not our normal vet. Each and every time we've been so appreciative of everything they did. During COVID we could not go in however, Dr. Carmen spent close to half an hour on the phone with us, brainstorming scenarios and solutions. We truly felt cared for and extremely looked after. Highly recommend!

Inappropriate and unecessary blood letting from feline jugular; how would you like it if you came to a lab and they said I'll take your blood from your jugular instead of your arm?

Terrible policies at this place. I took my cat in because he was not doing so good. Fairfield said he had liver damage and suggested putting him down. We took him home and gave him a few days. He started to get better so we decided not to put him down. Fast forward about a month later and our cat goes missing. Turns out our neighbor stole him. Her cat and my cat got into a fight and my cats eye gets injured. The Neighbor takes him to Fairfield and declares that we abused him, packed up and moved, and abandoned him. Fairfield takes her word for it and doesn't even attempt to contact us, treats the cat and releases him to us after I found out from the SPCA where he was. The cat had a tattoo with our address and they had him on file from a month ago, but no, no attempt to contact us and they were prepared to release him to the person that stole him. Now today the police show up with the SPCA because we didn't take him to Fairfield for a check up. No phone call or email or anything, just "we call the cops if you don't do business with us". The Police and SPCA apologized for the inconvenience because the cat is clearly in a loving home, but I guess that's not good enough for Fairfield. Yeah, I'll take him elsewhere for a check up thank you. Update: We showed the blood work to another vet and he said there is no way they should have suggested putting him down. Definitely get a second opinion when it comes down to the animals you love and pray to god that your pet doesn't end up at Fairfield if it gets stolen. This hasn't been a "bad customer experience" for us, it's been a nightmare! Update: Just to be clear, they did offer the option of expensive treatment for his "Liver Problems" or to put him down if we couldn't afford it. I'm thankful I ignored their advice and my cat is still health, alive, and loved.

I lost my beautiful baby boy cat jose recently. He was my little furry man. I felt that he was treated with the care and love he received at home. It was a very hard day for us. Thank you staff at fairfield hospital for being there for him and us! And thank you for his paw prints and beautiful card. Kim and randy Kobayashi

We came to Fairfield Animal Hospital because we had an after hours call ( 6:40 pm) at our standard vet and we were told to contact Fairfield for an emergency call. Our experience here was as good as could be, as it turned out our dog had aggressive bone cancer (something our regular vet missed after several visits) that night we had to put our sweet 13 year old dog down, due to a broken leg as a result of said cancer. The care we received here was amazing,it made an incredibly hard thing to do somewhat easier knowing we had gone to a vet that cared about Harley and us. They were thoughtful, kind and compassionate. I would definitely recommend this vet and am considering transferring our cat and new dog’s care to them.

Always very helpful and compassionate, both in office and over the phone.

We've always had great experiences with Fairfield.

I had to make the decision to say goodbye to my dog tonight and I want to thank the staff for being such compassionate people and letting me say good bye to this special little guy. Never easy but I have a thankful heart for staff for being so thoughtful and considerate in the painful moments.

Last night I called the clinic in tears after my small dog ate a box of chocolate while i was away. The kind and understanding staff talked me through everything and helped me set up a profile over the phone so they could immediately start helping him when I arrived (I live an hour and a half away) as soon as I stepped in the door the girl asked if this was tucker as we had spoken on the phone and immediately got to work. I was blown away by how kind and understanding the staff was and how they seemed to really care about my dogs well being. They were able to help my dog, and he is feeling so much better today. I am so greateful to Fairfield for saving my dog. Thank you for your excellent service.

I couldn't possibly say enough good things about these amazing and compassionate people. They helped my best friend Archer pass with care and dignity. I have never experienced such a stressful and sad situation but with their kindness and support we were able say goodbye in our own time. Thank you all soo very much.

I've never been to a vet that uses sales tactics to guilt/shame you and milk whatever they can out of you. "Good luck getting into your family vet tomorrow, on a Friday before the long weekend," was an interesting comment. I told them I already had an appointment booked at my family vet in the morning, but since he was at Fairfield, he could stay there (his health according to them sounded terrible). Another great comment was, "He owes you nothing, and you owe him everything," speaking of how much I owe my cat, presumably to push me to spend that money on him. Told me that Savannah's were purebreds and usually have kidney and liver issues by his age of 10, which is unequivocally incorrect. An F2 Savannah is hardly an interbred animal, being just two generations from the wild. Savannahs tend to have fewer health issues (in general) because they are a relatively new species compared to others. The disorganization, lack of communication and flat out BS we got told is astounding. They made it sound like our cat was in terrible condition by saying, "he is a very sick kitty." Yet his bloodwork was taken just one time 24 hours before that comment, and never again. I guess they don't use updated bloodwork to determine the animal's condition, but instead, look at the cat to see how terrified he is to be in the vet's office. After 24 hours of him being there, I called to see what was happening. They were going to keep him another night and assumed that someone had told us about it. The story started that he needed IV meds, then it was he needs IV fluids, then it was "he hasn't eaten, and we would like him to eat" (not that they asked what he usually ate, nor would he eat in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people doing things to him). Then the story was, "we want to keep him until his CT results are in tomorrow morning." We went and picked him up that night "against Dr. recommendations." He was perfectly normal and healthy and SO happy to get out of that place. We got home, and he was starving and begging us for food. He scarfed the food down so fast that we had to take it away to slow him down a bit. We didn't receive a phone call the next morning with the CT results as promised (remember, they wanted to keep him until morning to see CT results). So I call them in the afternoon. I asked if his CT results were back. They were not available yet. So after asking why they wanted to keep him overnight until CT results in the morning, the response I got from reception was, "you might've been given a bit of false information." The ease that the comment came out of her mouth emphasized to me that this wasn't the first time "false information" had been given to a client. The CT results showed it was likely pancreatitis as we expected when we took him in. Treatment could've been subcutaneous fluids, pain medication and anti-nausea medication at home. When the pet is at home, though, you can't collect that lucrative hospitalization money! You might've got the money from us this time, but it'll never happen again. Tri-Lake animal hospital, here we come.

We brought our little Jack Russell in on the recommendation of our local vet who was closed on Mother's day. He was in severe distress from what we later discovered was an underlying undiagnosed disease. Fairfield staff were amazing, despite being very busy with other serious emergencies they made us feel like we were the only patient there. They were professional, competent, compassionate and well educated. We are so grateful for their support.

Wow, the most expensive veterinary care I have ever experienced in more than 65 years. While vacationing in Osoyoos our large golden doodle swallowed a piece of one of his stuffed toys. Not a huge piece - smaller than a saltine cracker size. He then barfed up his next 3 meals shortly after eating. Being concerned there may be a blockage we started trying to get him into a vet. Everyone was over booked in Osoyoos, Oliver, oK Falls, and Penticton- and all suggested he really should be checked and referred us to Fairfield emerg in Kelowna. We then drove the 2 hrs to Kelowna. We were told it would be $250 just to conduct the initial consultation….. yikes but what choice did we have? The vet said he stemmed healthy and happy and nothing was evident in the initial exam. An X-ray was recommended - an additional $250 - yikes! After the X-ray the vet said nothing was seen and she suggested we drive home to Osoyoos (2 hrs) and come back the next morning (another 2 hrs) and the would try another X-ray - another $250 - are you kidding me??? We hesitated at this recommendation and were then advised to purchase 10 cans of their special gastrointestinal food and monitor him. The final bill was $675 - again. Yikes!!! Our dog has been fine since but this is insane pricing for very questionable veterinarian assistance. If you read reviews prior to attending - I would suggest using this place as a last resort and be prepared to get soaked financially.

The staff at Fairfield were excellent in caring for our cat who had a wound in his tail. They seemed very professional, compassionate, and communicated very well.

I brought my cat Karma, who is now semi-ferral into the emergency room. They had given me medication to give him so I could transport him safely. The vet who attended to him was like a cat whisperer. My cat Karma, responded to her voice and touch and she was able to extract a bebe gun pellet from his neck with only minor sedation. The entire staff that I dealt with were both kind and accomodating. Thank you for all you did for him!

Worst place i have ever taken an animal ! Staff are horrible and rude and the doctor was fresh out of additude school and failed miserably ! Im Also considering legal action against the practice keep your pet away from this place ....oh ya there so caring just to walk in is 317 dollars place .....SUCKS !shame on you it's clinics like this that Make me sick and sad to breathe the same air see ya in court

In a time of difficulty the people here are only interested in your money not your pets welfare!

All the staff is amazing there! They were very compassionate and understanding when we had to euthanize our little dog. He was 13. They made the experience better with details and amazing care. They understand the emotional aspect of having to lose the best dog in the world, who was your baby. Thank you for your understanding.

I brought my pug in, knowing what he had done as he was acting the exact same as the last time when he swallowed a tampon. I informed them of this more than once yet they still went a head with a bunch of unnecessary test. Last time they waited on doing anything and I ended up taking him home with me and taking him to my vet who knew what it was right away and operated.with in hours my dog was home with his family. With a much smaller bill than the one I am paying today. This time cost more than double what it did last time!! I will never come here again! I'll wait for my vet to open.

When I bought my dog in I was very upset and crying the were very helpful and very compassionate. The helped me out with a payment plan and I went back and paid them. Thank you for that ⚘???? it was I believe 7 months ago.

We had to rush our kitty into the animal hospital on saturday at 4am. Not only were the people I spoke on the phone with very helpful and super informative, they also showed empathy which was what we needed. They took tests and checked everything out and gave us our options. They didn't try to force us into anything and helped us make informed decisions. We left our kitty in for the day and they called us once around 10 to let us know what their plan of course would be and if they wanted us to continue. They again called at 4. They answered all of questions and even at the end when we had to euthanize our poor guy, everyone was very empathetic. And even offered us to call the office If we had more questions. Highly recommend their expertise!

Took my old pooch in to be cremated when she had passed... it was the weekend but they were still open at 9:00 at night for these sorts of things.... I appreciate the words of Remembrance and Emma's paw prints they sent to me. It was a brutal day and they gave me compassion and care. Thank you guys!

I'm reviewing on behalf of my Mom. Her Pomeranian went missing and was dropped off at this clinic. He had some health issues and couldn't wear a collar, so unfortunately, he didn't have any tags. There was very little effort in finding the owners. My Mom and Stepdad did what they could to find him, making calls, putting up flyers etc... They got a phone call to let them know that Smokey had been put to sleep. They crossed a huge line not getting consent from the owners. If they had waited instead of jumping the gun, he would still be here happy, and at home. Sincerely, one angry daughter.

Tammy sayz hi

They are very caring, amazing and work hard to keep your pet comfortable ????????????

Horrendous experience and never want to go back. Oh wait...our beloved dog of is dead, and we were never even given the opportunity to say goodbye...so yah, we wouldn't be! Nothing worse than driving more than an hour with a sick animal for late night emergency care, only to be confronted by Wendy, a rude and un-empathetic veterinarian assistant. She was rough with our animal and ignorant with us. She leveled us with an astronomical estimate, then got upset when we questioned about signing off on everything listed -- excuse me for wanting to know what is wrong with my animal first before agreeing to a laundry list of extra charges. Trust me, we have spoiled our fur baby rotten over the years, so it wasn't about the money for us; it was about a prudent (not excessive) approach to treatment. Significant time was wasted while Wendy ignored us in the waiting area, and it took hours before they even took x-rays and longer yet for when we actually could speak to the Vet. In that entire time, our dog was locked away from our view, we were only able to see him once (for only a couple minutes)...little did we know that would be the last time we saw our dog or, rest assured, we would have coveted that time. We were finally convinced that we should go home for the night, and told that we could call in any time for updates on his condition. When we did call, we were told that only a Vet could update us on our dog's condition and they would call us back (this took several hours), then later their computers were down, and even though I had asked for regular updates on his status from Fairfield, I had to initiate every call..and then wait...with long delays for a return call. Its a pretty tough thing to explain to your upset children. This was particularly important because, living out of Kelowna, we were trying to decide if we should drive back to the clinic to be there with our little family member. Long story short. He died, we weren't given the opportunity to be there in his final moments, and given the experience we would have much rather have been given the opportunity for a warm, compassionate death around family than the one he ultimately had - alone and seemingly ignored in a cold pet hospital which seemed to care more about the money than compassionate care for its patients and excellent service for its paying customers. We need more than one emergency veterinarian care facility in this region, a little healthy competition may go a long way!

I am the founder of Kelowna Kitten rescue. We rescue kittens from the Okanagan, as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan. When one of our adopted kittens was brought into the clinic due to injuries from a car strike, we were informed by the adopter that he relinquished control of the cat due extensive injuries he could not afford. The cat was then signed over to the Kelowna SPCA. I called the Clinic as soon as I found out to inquire about the state of care needed for the kitten as we wanted to help. Rescue backing should get first dibs, my rescue runs in the background of the tattoo, had the tattoo been traced, they would've known to contact me. The girl on the phone refused my inquiries, denied knowledge, and became irritated by my inquiries. When I arrived at the hospital with the kittens adoption papers as proof, I was refused information, mocked, and denied my rights as a rescue to find out about my kitten. I was not given even a chance to show my proof of first ownership as a rescue. My rights were violated, I was shut down. My kitten at this point hadn't made it, but I didn't know that. When I drove off, with tears of sadness and frustration, the office assistant smiled smugly and waved goodbye, mocking her power over me, knowing full well my kitten was dead. This was the ultimate in disgusting responses I have ever received. Who would think that this is acceptable? My kitten, part of a group of 18 brought from Melfort Saskatchewan by a team of no less than 15 ppl in January. Then I invested 1500$ in their care due to a panluek outbreak and almost lost them all. This kitten was a miracle. There is a rescue code, we all abide by it, it is respected, that you trace the tattoo or microchip and give the rescue running in the background first response on the care needed. we want our kittens back if anything happens, and we would die for them if we needed to. The treatment I received was thoroughly disgusting. A staff member smiling at my pain knowing full well my kitten was dead, refuses to give me the right to simply be informed. I will never step foot in the Fairfield Vet hospital. I hope the staff member who treated me so cruelly, right from my initial phone call to my arrival with adoption form proof this kitten belongs to me, not the SPCA he was signed over to, should be fired for her cruel and insensitive demeanor. I have never encountered such dismissive disgust in my entire life from an animal welfare organization. Michelle Wandler founder of Kelowna Kitten Rescue

I dropped my dog off the other day and when waiting in my car they spoke with rude tones towards me on the phone. The nurse who came to my car gave a rude attitude and kept cutting me off as if she didn’t care to hear what was actucally wrong with my dog. She became very inpatient when i was sorting something out in my car and didn’t pick him up straight away for her to take him. I felt hurt and unheard because I was very worried for my dog. I asked them to give her fluids but it took hours for them to get to my dog and give him fluids and i repeatedly mentioned it. Everything they told me is what i told them i belived was wrong the morning of over the phone.

Huge huge THANK YOU for the amazing care and compassion that our girl Kiko (and we) received on an emergency visit! THANK YOU!!!❤

We have two dogs that do not do well with their time at the vet, but absolutely adore Dr. Ganton. On more than one occasion, Dr. Ganton has come in on his day off just because he knows our pets are comfortable with him. We have had a couple of emergencies and Dr. Ganton and the front end staff always do their very best to accommodate us, and never take advantage of the situation when it comes to the bill. It is always very stressful when these things happen, but we always come away happy with our choice to use fairfield animal hospital.

Carter S

Had an emergency with our dog, our local vet was closed as it was a Sunday afternoon. Called into Fairfield, explained the situation to the receptionist and she told us she could get our dog looked at immediately. Throughout the examination process of our dog they called us multiple times to update us, and keep our minds at ease. The staff at Fairfield made a very uncomfortable situation bearable, they did a truly amazing job. If ever you have an emergency with your animal do not hesitate to take them to Fairfield as you will be in great hands!
