My puppy was throwing up and needed urgent care. The hospital was spotless, and the staff was accommodating and kind. The vet made me very comfortable and handled my dog with care and love. Great experience!
Not a very good veterinarian, no bedside manners, wouldn’t let us see our puppy, was threatened with spca on animal cruelty cause we wanted to bring to different vet, was lied to, made to surrender our puppy to team Chelsea, asked what was wrong and got run around, never knew what was wrong just that they wouldn’t help us without making 1600 payment for being there 20 minutes. Very untrustworthy veterinarian I will never ever bring my animal to the vet ever again I will travel all the way to the city before I go to this veterinarian clinic.
Sorry, not impressed with my first experience here at all and unsure if I'll return. Was not happy with Dr M's rather rough handling of my kitten. The kitten has been peeing on our couch and beds some of the time so we brought him in to rule out a UTI. We were told that the fact that the kitten was having normal, full pees and that he wasn't straining at all to pee meant the chances of a UTI were low to 0%. Dr M felt the kittens abominate and stated that his bladder was empty, yet still took him out of the room and tried to extract urine causing the kitten to absolutely howl with pain. Why put the kitten through that when he has an empty bladder and when he presents no real symptoms of a UTI? We also mentioned that the kitten had loose stool and was instructed to bring in a stool sample to rule out infection. I then felt pressured into buying and administering antibiotics even though I said I wanted to wait for the results of the stool sample. I was told over the weekend to expect a call with the results Mon-Wed. Today is Friday and I had to call myself to find out the results. I was told the results were negative for parasites. Wait? Parasites? I was told my kitten may have an infection and that is why he was prescribed antibiotics? Terrible communication skills on the part of the Dr. To further the unpleasantness of the visit, Dr. M scoffed when I let the him know I had switched the kitten from kibble to a RAW diet. "Why?" he asked rather abruptly. The he proceeded to roll his eyes when I simply answered I feel it's better for them than kibble and I getting my food from a very reputable supplier in Brooklyn. The vet assistant who was helping Dr. M was very nice and pleasant but I was not impressed with his treatment of my kitten or myself at all. On Friday (after I'd already called) I received a followup call from Dr. Williams who was exceptionally pleasant. She was able to explain much of what Dr. M didn't or couldn't. KHPH has a good reputation, so if I do decide to give it a 2nd chance, I will be sure to specify that I want to see Dr. Williams.
The receptionist does not care about visitors
Our 7 month old kitten Luna had an emergency, she wouldn’t stop vomiting. We brought her in and within an hour and a half we brought her home and she was doing so well! Thank you so much to the staff and doctors at King Hopkins, you are all amazing. Super friendly and caring I definitely recommend bringing your furry friend here 10/10
Took my pets here twice for an emergency and they took them in quickly, treated them quickly, were very professional and friendly, and to top it all off – the prices were very reasonable (no emergency fees!)
Friendly staff, cared for my pets in the best possible way, very professional and skilled, no complaints. Our elder kitty Damon had cancer, throughout his treatments King Hopkins was there with the utmost care and comfort for him. The best veterinary experience !
Took our cat here after he had been struggling to walk and had an accident in the kitchen. Vet did blood tests and took urine samples and diagnosed diabetes and a bladder infection (which cleared up with the anti biotics they gave us)... And that was about the last thing he got correct. They ended up charging us over $600 for this visit only to send us home with the wrong insulin and the wrong needles for administering this insulin. Thank GOD our regular vet found the mistake and was super fast to correct it. We will never be taking our cat back to King Hopkins again.
Incredible caring staff who really care about you and your pets!
Second to none!!!!
Our dog Bear recently had an emergency and the staff took care of him right away. We also go to King Hopkins as our regular vet and they always take great care of him.
I had to out my cat down; the staff was extremely professional and empathetic. The vet explained the situation and were extremely confident and understanding... completely recommend King Hopkins Pet Hospital...5 star service and thanks for everything ❤️
Dr. Black and the staff were patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I brought in my guinea pig for an emergency and Dr. Black was able to diagnose her issues quickly and accurately - something that two other vets had missed. She was very compassionate when we were discussing potential options given my pig’s poor prognosis. Upon further research I learned that Dr. Black has a post-doc in LAM and extensive experience in this field, making her extremely knowledgeable in small furry friends compared to many other vets. The staff also followed up with me after the appointment and were prompt with any further concerns I had. The prices were also very reasonable.
Best vet service, best rates I've encountered AND they're open 24 hours. I now take my dog here for anything.
Very very caring and professional
Took our family dog there for his journey. They were extremely helpful and made things smooth for the family and I. Very professional and honest. Thank you King Hopkins!
I brought my chihuahua in for a check up after he slipped a disc in his neck. Everyone was so nice, despite my chi being very "spicy." They also clipped my dog's nails and mentioned he may have an allergy, to which they recommended I switch his food. I'm so grateful for their care and advice. I'll be making them my regular vet!
Great Friendly professional Vet would and will recommend to anyone looking
This was a very good clinic however the staff has changed and I wouldn’t recommend going here unless it was your very last choice
If your looking for compassion, honesty and amazing staff, I recommend this place totally. They are the top dogs with me. I have been dealing with them for more than 3 or 4 years now. Recently when I had to put my dog down, they went over and above to make sure I had those last moments to share. And Bennie wasn't just a number to them or a dollar sign. I recommend them anytime someone asks me for a reference. And also 24 hours means 24 hours. ????????????????????????
The vets and staff are very friendly and answer any questions you might have about your pet and their care. They are very loving, gentle and caring with your fur babies and treat them as they were their own.
I had to take my 8 year old great dane here last night as she suddenly couldn't lay down without pain in her shoulder. I've had bad experiences with many different vets as it always felt very clinical and they didn't really *care* about my animal. I was very nervous when they said they had to keep her overnight. The staff genuinely seemed to care about my dog and treated her very well. I will definitely be switching to them for my main veterinarian! For anyone interested, their exam fee was $83 which is significantly less than the emergency clinic on Dundas in Whitby, that was $124.
My puppy broke a tooth last night so I asked for recommendations of vets who deal with dental & a friend recommended King Hopkins. I sent an email to inquire whether it was something they would be able to address & got a response this morning. They asked for some info on the pup & I sent over a few pictures of the broken piece of tooth, and they told me it was a baby tooth and I had nothing to worry about!! I’m amazed at how quickly they responded, as well as their willingness to help me via email instead of making me come in for an exam. Being able to identify from a few pictures, they must know their stuff! It definitely speaks volumes to their integrity and shows they are not just out to get your money. They could have easily told me to come in for dental exams, x-rays, or any number of (costly, i’m sure) assessments. I’ve had some not so great experiences with other vets charging for exams on the simplest of things, for pets who were long time patients no less. We are moving next week & this clinic has definitely won my business with their timely, courteous, caring, and reassuring support over just a couple of emails. I will of course update my review after actually visiting the clinic but I’m happy to have one less thing to worry about while we move and no longer having to search for a new vet :) THANK YOU!!!
Excellent service
Our Great Pyrenees had a secondary infection in his groin/stomach area from his skin allergies. He also has a long memory and has had bad experiences with vets since we got him as a rescue a year ago. Needless to say, having to take him to another new vet was stressful. The vet tech that greeted us outside, had the perfect touch and was able to get our dog into the vet clinic without much ado. Inside, the vet did his best to assess what was required to keep our dog from scratching himself. This is will be our go-to emergency place from now on. I highly recommend going here. I just think the staff is overall super kind and helpful - they will do their best to put the pet and human at ease. Thank you Dr. Wanis and team - from Winslow the Great Pyrenees! Oh and they followed up with a phone call - so impressed!
Great experience. Loved the vet. Dr. Sugi. She was artiulate and compassionate. She kissed my little dog. Considering switching here from my regular vet. Other 24 hour clinics (the other one in Whitby) ripped me off and charged an insane price to see my sick dog years ago. King Hopkins offers a standard rate, regardless of day/time. I was so thankful for this. Took my dog this morning on Thanksgiving day. They were $75 for a visit. King Hopkins forced the other 24 hour in Whitby to finally bring their absurd price down to $99 (less than half what they wanted before). Will never go anywhere else for an emergency. Excellent staff. Caring vet. Reasonable rate. Dog kisses ♡ Thank you!!!
They overcharge you for doing nothing. Avoid this place if you don't want your wallet molested
We absolutely love coming there. thank you so much???? love Cherry Bubu Daisy and Bear ????
absolutely amazing place. I had my baby put down last night had my baby comfy put her out of pain I have been through this with my fanily dog and it wasnt as nice of an experience . This hospital put my dog at peace . great place friendly staff highly recommend!
The first experience I had with this vet was absolutely horrid. I went in with my dog experiencing trouble breathing, came out 3 hours later 1200$ less and a dog who was doped up on pain drugs FAR more then she ever needed to be. I went to 3!!!! Vets following our visit to have them look over the itemized bill. All of them said I was over charged and my dog experienced unnecessary tests and procedures for no reason. The vet kept telling me “they’re treating the symptoms” of her..... 3 x rays....a specialist to look at the X-ray...a procedure to allow the air to escape from her tummy.., charges for pain meds....they gave her a med to calm her down.. took her downstairs away from where I could see her and expected me to be okay not knowing where she was going? .... all unnecessary according to the other vets based on her symptoms that she presented with at the time. The vet at Hopkins had me leave with no answers and just a giant debt. This place will 100% take advantage of you. They heard my occupation and assumed I had money and decided to go with it. I also struggled immensely with understanding the vet I was dealing with, I kept having to have the owner step in an re explain. I do not feel comfortable allowing someone who I cant understand explain the procedure that is about to take plce on my dog when I am concerned! I am a young professional who just moved to the area, I would strongly recommend that you do not use this vets services. My dog was prescribed a pain medication that was not needed at all!! 3 other vets justified that; and they weren’t local vets looking to compete or slash the other companies name. Just food for thought.....
Kind staff. Great service.
Very friendly to thier customers
They are wonderful. Love this veterinary clinic. ♡♡♡♡♡
Took great care of our dog after she ingested thc on our walk...
They try everything to get you to come in. My dog ate a TINY piece of chocolate chip cookie and they had me in tears saying that I needed to bring her in right away and pay $85 to look at her, plus $159 to make her vomit and flush her. Then they basically told me I only have two hours and needed to get in there. When I called other vets, I was told my dog would.be fine as the amount she ate from a chocolate chip was not going to hurt her and they were right. She was absolutely fine. Shame on you for trying to pressure people when they are vulnerable.
I was able to get a timely appointment for my dog. I drove from Toronto and it was worth it. Great thoughtful care. Clear communication from vet. They don't overcharge like toronto emergency vets.
We had to say goodbye to a 3 week old puppy. The staff at King Hopkins were amazing. They treated our we guy with respect, and gave him everything he needed. Unfortunately we could not save Spy Jr but the rest of his Border Collie siblings are thriving. Thank you Sasha and Team for all your support. You were amazing.
Such caring people.
Excellent place and staff are very compassionate
Amazing service and care. Will not go anywhere else
Amazing staff !!
Love my animals, but sometimes the added cost to see a vet is overwhelming, the shock when I see the bill was much higher than anticipated, 200$ for an x-ray?.. The positive was the staff, friendly and helpful,
Just an update to my low review. We had our cat euthanized in the summer so he wouldn't suffer any more. At that time we said we'd pay for a communal cremation. The next day we called and said we'd like individual and paid the difference. We were told, due to covid (???) the cremation would take longer than usual but they would contact us in September. We waited. In October I called to inquire and was told the cremation was on hold because we hadn't committed to which type of cremation, even though our credit card statement clearly showed we'd been charged for the individual cremation. I was told, in October, that they apologized and would proceed with the cremation. Almost 3 months later we've heard nothing from King Hopkins. I am calling this week to cancel because I highly distrust them and suspect that the ashes we may (someday) receive won't even be from our cat. Terrible business management. I wish I could give less than a 1 rating.
Best hospital by far and I came from Toronto
I was referred here by a friend when I needed help for my cat. Their response time is horrible. They provided that help and diagnosed her with a uti two months ago. 300 dollars later and that was denying another 600 dollars more worth of tests. The uti healed with the treatment but has since come back and I called asking for a refill of the antibiotic explaining that I CANNOT afford hundreds of dollars again knowing this is the exactly the same thing and situation. They refused to refill the prescription unless I come in and spend all this money all over again, and therefore my cat is now left suffering because of this and I made them very well aware of my situation. This is a horrible place to go that is obviously only in it for the money. I would never go here again or recommend them to anyone.
Our family was very thankful for Dr Black and the staff at King Hopkins Pet Hospital this summer during our emergency visit. Although it wasn’t the outcome we wanted for our cat (we had to let him go), they were very patient and kind. Because of COVID lockdown measures we were unable to go into the clinic so it was very stressful not being in the room to hold him. The staff set up the side table outside so we could be with “Spots” as he went to his forever sleep. Dr Black stayed with us the whole time and reassured us that because of the injury we were making the right decision. This is late posting, but we really did appreciate everything the clinic did for us and for Spots!! We miss him dearly ????❤️ Thank you so much King Hopkins
I hope to not have to use 24h vet services again but if I do I will not be using this place. Our pup was showing signs of abnormal behavior including falling over while sitting, excessive panting, restlessness, etc. (these are all signs of "bloat" AKA GDV so you can imagine our concern). We brought her in and were told she was physically fine, but since that still didn't explain her dizziness we asked Dr. Mahmoud to check her ears. He then proceeded to make my partner feel bad for bringing her in as "an ear issue isn't an emergency" and they "don't usually do ear stuff at this time because other people might need emergency services." We obviously didn't bring her in for "just an ear issue" -- we were scared it was something worse. We brought her in because we DIDN'T know what was wrong with her -- I can assure you that if we were both trained veterinarians we wouldn't be using this service. Second, the barely-there checkup that our pup received was definitely not enough to know if something was actually wrong, let alone something more internal like an ear issue. I would strongly recommend you go somewhere with less condescending and more competent veterinarians should you ever need emergency services.
I lice this vet. Dr Sasha Black is amazing. She is kind, understanding, knowledgeable and practical!
Awesome place very honest and knowledgeable.
Amazing and supportive staff
We have been going to King Hopkins for a while as we had difficulty securing a veterinarian in the Durham Region after moving to Whitby from Toronto. Over the past few months, they've been very helpful in managing my cat's hyperthyroidism. But today, when I called to say that my cat was on death's door and was in urgent need of care, I was turned away and referred instead to the Toronto Veterinary Hospital. Sadly, the poor creature didn't make it and died in the passenger's seat on the way to Toronto. I'm disappointed that King Hopkins could not take even fifteen minutes to see her. It made me feel as though her life was of little value to the clinicians at the hospital. This review is not in any way intended to disparage the good work that the doctors and nurses at King Hopkins do every day. However, I was saddened to see that in this animal's time of need we could not be accommodated.
I can’t say enough about this fantastic clinic. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been simply amazing. They explain step by step, there are no surprises, & how one place got so many incredible people is beyond me. Thank you for being there!
After being totally fed-up with my previous vet, I found King Hopkins Pet Hospital and they worked with us and our dog who has anxiety. I would recommend them.
I am mostly happy with this place, but my last few visits I've had some issues. Pros: Both the vets I've seen recently were quite nice! Unfortunately I've forgotten their names, but I had to go to put down an elderly cat recently and everyone, including the generally less-than-spectacular front desk staff who do the initial exam before the vet comes in, handled it amazing. I was also in recently for a regular check up for another cat and the vet was quite nice and helpful Cons: The front desk staff are just not that good. They need some serious retraining. I have been given attitude, billed the wrong amount (this was taken care of weeks later), and most recently, one of them led us to the exam room and was going to clean the table. No worries, I'm holding my cat in my arms waiting. She tells me to put my cat on the scale. She then proceeds to start spraying the cleaner on the table, as my cat is put on the scale, meaning he is basically being sprayed. Unimpressed, I quickly remove him from the area, only for her to say "don't worry I'm not gonna spray the scale" which made me wonder, first of all, is the scale even clean, and second of all, what part of her brain told her it's okay to spray anything (especially a cleaning product, even though I'm sure they use some "natural" stuff there, don't even spray water near my cat please) literally an inch from my already nervous cat? It was wild and I didn't get an apology or even any acknowledgment that she messed up. Later on during the same appointment, my cat is taken to the basement for some blood work. One of the employees is carrying him back upstairs in her arms, he's clearly very uncomfortable/upset, yet she stops on the stairs to have a conversation with other employees. She has a firm grasp on him, but he's hanging there, upset, looking at me. She should have either handed him over to me (the crazy person saying "oh hi [cat's name], it's okay, I'm here") or put him down in the exam room then walked back to have the conversation. I think the issue here is that working with animals, every day, desensitizes you pretty quickly. You start seeing so many of them that you don't think of them the way the owners do. And that's understandable, but my cat is my baby and I refuse to just accept anything less than perfect treatment. So when I pay large sums of money and my cat is treated with any less respect than a human would be treated with, I am sorely unimpressed. Would I recommend this place? If you need a 24 hour vet or need a quick appointment, sure. If you can wait, no, I'd probably consider going elsewhere.
Amazing, just amazing. Everyone was friendly and happy to answer the many questions I had. They handled my Houdini of a cat like pros, explained everything thoroughly, weren't rushed, even when busy, they made sure to give their attention to each pet. Home, happy and healing!
Very convenient. The doctors were nice even when we came in at 3:30 AM.
Best vet to go too and good prices! They really care about all there clients
Had both my Chihuahuas nails clipped. Great Staff. Thank you Ladies !
Amazing customer service..they were kind, patient and understanding. Keeping me and my dog calm. Thank you
Had a great experience with this pet hospital last night. My dogs ear was ripped while at a dog park, I called ahead to see if I could bring him in and was told to bring him in and call when I got there. Had to wait in my car due to Covid-19 while they checked him out. Dr Black called to let me know what she could do in about 15 mins, I received a call a couple hours later to come and pick him up.
They saw my cat the same evening that I called them. They are open 24/7 even at night.
No one ever enjoys bringing their pet to the hospital, but they made it a better experience than expected. No emergency fees and the staff and doctors are very nice and explain everything to you. The follow up by the staff via phone calls and emails show they care for their little patients.
Went there at midnight with my 3 pound teacup chihuahua saw DR.Black had an amazing experience as the doctor as well as Brooke the assistant was very professional very friendly and helped my little furry baby Marco. Thank you. Also it was very affordable, hopefully won’t have to came back but if I do, definitely taking my furry baby back to King Hopkins animal hospital see Dr. Black.
Great service and well organised due to the pandemic .
Very happy with our dogs care. Dr. called next day to see how he was doing.
I am completely at a lose for what I witnessed tonight, mis treating disabled people and cats shame on you
I feel comfortable with all the staff members and Dr Black has answered all my questions and has given me different options for the issues that my dog had. Everyone is professional and friendly and I especially like the 2 separate entrances for Cats and Dogs this reduces the stress of the animals and owners for sure. Keep up the good work everyone!
Great rates and service was excellent.
I brought my kitty here as I was looking for a vet closer to home. On my arrival I was greeted by a friendly staff member and my kitty and I were placed in a room right away. It wasn't until 40 minutes later that we were seen by a student. We told her that my kitty had a sore behind but she decided to take her temperature through her bottom. Needless to say that didn't work out well. The student left and we waited another 20 minutes. When we finally saw the vet, she did a quick teeth check and the advised she had to take her downstairs to better help my kitty. My kitty is definitely doing much better than she was before we brought her in, but I certainly didn't appreciate the long wait times. It's a good thing I don't have an anxious cat.
Friendly vets and 24 hour service!
This team takes such good care of my 4 legged best friend. The flexible schedule and great customer service is why I will drive past all the other facilities and show up in Whitby.
Dr. Black and staff are so amazing!
DO NOT BE UPSOLD. This place will insist on tons of tests for a simple issue. Do one at a time and DO NOT just approve them all at once - could literally save you thousands.
Fixed my unfixable cat.
I brought my yorkie to King Hopkins on Monday night. My dog was losing her balance, unable to sit-up and walk properly when I found a tick engorged in her leg. I was so scared. I called King Hopkins and they picked up right away, and had an appointment booked for 10:30pm. Dr. Beshay and staff were amazing and empathetic. They were super patient in taking their time to explain my options to me, and were willing to help me out through every step. My little puppy and I were in good hands and they fixed her right up. This review is the least I can do for them! Thank you so much!
Fair price, great service and trusted doctors ????
Two of our cats are cared for here love it
The best Emergency pet hospital in Durham. Treated my dog in a timely manner. Made this owner very happy and Piper is healing amazing!
I cant even put into words the gratitude I have towards Dr.Sasha Black and her staff . Although we lost our sweet 1 year old cat on Friday just knowing she was in loving caring hands is something I can never thank you enough for . From the moment we brought midnight in Dr.Sasha and jesse were so gentle with her , they went through every option possible with us to try and save her life . Unfortunately there was nothing that could have saved her given her condition but despite all the heartache of losing her we are so so so grateful we came across these wonderful people. I will recommend anyone to go to this animal hospital they truley care about the animals and their owners as well . Thank you for all your efforts and we are so happy we got to take our sweet midnights ashes home tonight xo
He helped our fur baby and we are very grateful for his expertise and genuinely caring for your beloved pets and the owner !
The reason I am giving this place a one star is because the receptionist that greeted us was friendly. Aside from that there's nothing else good about it. I came to this place Saturday morning around 7:30am because my dog was vomitting. When I arrived the gentleman told me that the wait time would be a couple of hours (note: there was no one in the waiting area and he mentioned that there is one person being helped by the doctor right now). The reason he said that it'll be a couple of hours was that the doctor that is currently helping someone is going to be done their shift soon and as soon as another doctor comes in at 8 am they would need to do some admin stuff and then they have an appointment that's coming in. WHAT? I thought this was a 24 hour hospital. Because of the wait he told us to go to the other hospital down the street, which I gladly did. Don't recommend even trying to go in as walk ins as it doesn't even seem like they want any business.
You need a vet or have an emergency, forget this place. One night we had a fear our small dog ate a seeded grape (can be lethal) So we rushed down there to see what we could do because we didn’t want to take a chance. They straight up asked us what our career was because we were mid twenties, only to realize later that was because they were gauging how deep they could reach into our pockets. The “exam” is $79 and consists of them putting your dog on a scale. That’s it. Forced vomiting, which ironically someone in the reviews costed $159 ended up costing me $459. This isn’t a problem that comes from the low end of the ladder, it’s pretty obvious all of these garbage practices come from the top down. Not a chance I’m going back there again.
Highly recommend this veterinarian. AMAZING people and hours. Love them!
Very caring and gentle with my wounded pet. I would recommend Jody and DR Black to anyone.
Great small Pet Hospital.
I can't thank Dr. Black enough. She is exemplary, amazing, skilled and God's gift to anyone with a pet. She took a dismal outlook and turned it to hope and joy. She was kind, caring and went out of her way to make things happen. I'm grateful to have found her. This is the place I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet they love. Don't take your loved pets anywhere else. I went to two other locations prior to bringing my little Morkie to here. The other two locations had very bleak perspectives
Very nice staff, open 24/7 which is very convenient. Vets are nice. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Only thing that makes this not a 5star vet is that all vets are way too expensive. But overall happy with the services I've received here for my dog.
I have been going here for years Doctor Black is my favorite! Yes they are open 24 hours x 365 days a year with no emerg fees however please understand that because of this they are very busy. I have never been turned away but I do always call in advance and get an appointment time. The staff do their best to see everyone quickly. My only comment would be to ensure that if you book a follow up appointment that you ask the receptionist to confirm verbally what the follow up is for so you can be reassured they have booked enough time for it. Honestly this clinic is a life saver and Dr.Black has always provided us with amazing advice and care.
My daughter take her Dog's and Cats there. Very compassionate and knowledgeable.
I just got an 11 yr old cat off of kijiji who was having some bum issues. When I decided to call King Hopkins (as it was nighttime), Victoria was very kind and helpful and suggested I come in. I got an appointment for 30 minutes later at 12:30am, and was done by 1:30 am. They did an exam, x-ray, and got me all the information I needed in less than an hour. The vet was very easy to talk to and nice, and so were the hospital staff. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend .
This is a really nice place, the price is also fair, you can bring your pets here with no worried.
Always professional service with affordable prices. Took really good care of my cat late last year in the middle of the night and when I didn't have enough money they discounted services for me. Can't thank them enough for all they do.
The communication is terrible and the employees were not the nicest either they did not make our first experience well at all either I was way over charged or you guys don’t know what you are doing because I was told on the phone what it would cost and the day of the appointment you guys doubled it, firstly the “vet technician” was in a hurry to go home she refused to come upstairs to do my pets nails so she made her assistant take my pets to their basement without me which wasn’t the most comfortable choice to do as it was our FIRST TIME and she butchered my guinea pigs nails and even forgot one “how they did that I don’t know” and I still had to pay the doubled fee. Never going again
Our cat was in need of emergency care on a weeknight and all daytime vets were closed. We called King Hopkins and they got the information from us and were able to book her in that night. We waited at home for 2 hours then took her. We showed up for the appointment, they took her in right away and were able to diagnose and treat the issue while we waited in the car. We were home 1 hour later that evening with a healthy cat. Thanks Dr Black and team!
Awesome staff, friendly, informative, and overall caring! Open 24/7!! Highly recommend!
All the staff were really professional and very kind!!
I am so thankful for Dr. Black and her team. She runs an excellent and much needed service-especially since it is so hard to find a 24 emergency vet who sees rabbits! Thank you so much Dr. Black!!
We have had a number of different vets look at maurice at king hopkins and each has been friendly, accommodating, and informative.
So good with all animals
Always a welcoming face at the reception. The Vet & Vet Techs are beyond lovely, especially Dr. Williams & Dr. Black.
The Doctor is nice and the staff was nice as well. I took my dog.
I took my dog into King Hopkins Clinic 3 days ago. My dog Marki was in congestive heart failure. I am a brain tumor survivor and my boy Marki gives me a reason to keep fighting this battle and get up out of bed every day! I really felt my world was ending, Marki really is my best friend he alerts me if I have a seizure coming on and am not aware which gives me the confidance and freedom to go touring around with him on my scooter. He has never been far from my side, he goes shopping at the mall, grocery stores, well everywhere with me. He travelled to Sunnybrook hospital every day for five weeks while I received my radiation treatment and I believe that helped me get through it all. The moral of this experience is Dr, Nady Wanis saved my dog's life and my boy is celebrating his 11th Birthday today!!!!!!!!. I have never met such a compassionate Veterinarian who shows his care for your best friend and kindness to the owner. Also amazing staff! I have had my Christmas Miracle!! Thank-you Dr. Nady and staff from the bottom of my heart.
Extremely helpful and supportive staff!!
Made us wait a little longer than we anticipated after sending us away with a sick morkie, but the staff were kind, apologized and supportive on the second visit.
We got our dog September 2018, brought him in for his initial check-up, again in Oct 2018 for vaccinations, July 2019 (ear infection), October 2019 (vaccinations) however never had the same doctor. One Doc mentioned that neutering wasn't necessary and a personal choice while the 2nd Doctor went off on us as to WHY we hadn't neutered him YET!?!? One of the Receptionist is quite rude; during one visit, I paid for his meds and was attempting to ask questions about the dosage of his prescription and she handed me my receipt/credit card and proceeded to tell me 'you're done, that's it BYE'. We left, never went back and found another clinic where it is a lot more personable , the staff is warm, welcoming and you feel a lot more comfortable which is perfect for me, a first time dog owner.
Fantastic place. They helped me scan a stray dog to find his home. Thanks!
Unfortunately I had to put my dog down but they were very good with him and us. Pricy but that's cause he was big. In a nutshell, I'd recommend anyone to come here despite the cost. They're ALL pricy but not always are they good. These people (vets) are good.
This vet is outstanding. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the pricing/hours are out of this world. I would highly recommend checking this place out! The doctor took our dog's issues seriously and was so professional.
Dr. Black was wonderful she truly took care of our dog as if it was her own. The prices were very reasonable as the same procedure we initially had booked with a different vet for the next morning was more expensive than the what turned into an emergency visit to King Hopkins. The rest of the staff was also very pleasant and caring during our time there.
I liked this emergency veterinary clinic. They are quick, thorough and knowledgeable. My sister is a vet and she agreed with everything they did and the diagnosis and treatment. I was shocked at the cost but that’s the same for all pet care everywhere. I need to buy insurance. I hope I don’t need them again, but if I do I will take my pets to them in an emergency.
Brought our dog there last night with a broken nail. We were told that the nail needed to be removed which we were expecting. I asked if we could use an injectable anesthetic instead of sedation and I was told I was inhumane and given quite the glare. That wasnt nice to hear but agreed to sedation after feeling shamed for asking a question...I was then told that my 2 year old dog required a $190 blood test before they would sedate. My dog is healthy and has been to the vet in the past year. There is no reason for a blood test to remove a nail. We left and went to the animal emergency clinic on dundas where he was given immediate local pain treatment. He was later sedated, nail removed, wrapped up, coned and sent home with pain meds. No blood test. No unreasonable procedures or costs. No shame for asking questions. I went to Hopkins because the older gentleman was VERY nice and reasonable when we came before due to an eye infection. We wont go back again because of the younger man that is there.
Our puppy injured her paw, and King Hopkins was excellent about seeing her right away, being very supportive of my daughter who was very worried, and getting Puppy feeling better asap. Great bedside manner, very personable staff, and quick and effective service. We had a very good experience.
Very accommodating as to booking an appointment same day but, couldn't properly diagnose something that when when looking up online the boyfriend easily found information on. We were told that we wouldn't be able to talk animal care as it is our first time owning a leopard gecko, as they had some emergencies come up. I was told they would call us the following day to do a follow up and discuss her dietary needs properly, I was originally told noon but noon came and I was instead called and told it would be a bit later as they were quite swamped. A call never came and it's been close to 4 days since our initial appointment. The care in general was okay, I just do not think that I will be returning when there are places closer to me. Edit. Following the call that took close to a week to receive, we were told that in fact the veterinarian on service was no in fact a reptile specialist as we were initially led to believe. After taking our leopard gecko to my local vet and seeing the care that they were able to provide (not causing a fear poop from our lizard, and recommending that we perform a fecal parasite screening) I was overall unimpressed. King Hopkins Pet Hospital was unable to provide any insight as to husbandry or care of our pet, and scared her so badly that our social and brave little lizard refused to be handled for several days after the fact. I will not be returning with my pet when I can find a less expensive clinic that provides a better level of car for my pet as well as a high level of customer service.
When we took our kitten in to be spayed, she had some sort of reaction to the anesthesia and almost died. She had to stay in 24/hr care for two days, and they did not charge us extra to keep her there (even though we didn't ask or assume that they would do that). I feel secure in knowing that a) they'll take good care of my pets and b) they won't try to take advantage of you when there's an emergency and you're frantic. They even texted us updates and pictures while she was there! I highly, highly recommend them.
This place couldn't help us because we had guinea pig issues, and the resident vet doesn't do small animals, but they were kind and caring and wrapped our little girl in a pink blanket, and then phoned around everywhere until they found someone who could help us. We ended up driving to Ajax and getting all the help we needed, but it was only because the ladies at King Hopkins went the extra mile. Thank you so very much ! ! ! ! !
Thank you for emergency for my sister's dog you guys are awesome
We had never utilized the services at King Hopkins prior to this visit. Our cat was panting and in obvious signs of distress. We were advised to come in, and were seen immediately. Both the tech and the veterinarian listened to our concerns and displayed empathy while remaining professional. All staff were friendly from beginning to end. The price for an emergency visit at 6:30 am Friday morning, with medication costs included, was actually less than we typically pay for a routine check-up at our regular vets office (this is not a slam on vet prices, simply a comparison to display how reasonable their prices are, especially in emergency situations). The team at King Hopkins actually emailed the next day to follow up to see how our cat was doing. It was a nice touch to a stressful situation. I would definitely recommend King Hopkins Pet Hospital to anyone, especially as an emergency service. I felt that our cat was in good hands there.
I took my dog in for an emergency surgery over the long weekend, and Dr. Black was amazing. She was calm and caring with both myself and my dog, and was extremely considerate and understanding when it came to the financial burden and was able to help ease it to make sure my dog got the care he needed. My dog is now home and recovering. I would recommend Dr. Black and her staff to anyone in need of a professional and considerate doctor for their pets.
My brother Sam got a job here and I hope he does a good job taking care of the animals.
They were able to help quickly and took good care of our family member
Wonderful, caring, attentive staff. Vet is amazing! Very knowledgeable, caring, educational and personable. Fair pricing. Would highly recommend!
We took in our 5 month old Miniature Dachshund in the middle of the night last night as he was vomiting profusely and would not stop. This was our first ever experience with a animal hospital. The staff here were able to get us in right away and took care of our puppy quickly and efficiently. They were not pushy, and they genuinely seemed to care about our dog! Some of the nicest people I have ever met and were very thorough. Thank you! :)
Dr. Sasha Black refused treatment to my diabetic cat. This vet confidently said my cat wasn't going to make it after two long stays 6+ days of treatment and we had run out of money ($6500). Long story short, cat is fine now thanks to TVEH. Sasha SHOULD HAVE done her job and treated for possible kidney infection instead of telling me there were no more options. She refused treatment. Turned out to JUST BE A KIDNEY INFECTION. If you love your pet, please please take them somewhere else.
All staff including technicians and vet were very understanding, patient and kind to us in a time of stress and emergency. They fit us in when no other vet (including our own) were too busy to see us, even though their day was also very busy. They did their best to help us in a time of need and sent a referral to TEVH so we could go there and wait a bit less time. Overall, extremely grateful for the attentiveness and service we received and will definitely refer to everyone I know. Thank you so much for everything you did at the clinic for us.
We have taken our dogs to this vet on 3 different occasions. They are not our regular vet but thank goodness they were open and available at the times we have had to go there. The first time was when our elderly dog had a seizure, the second time was when that same dog had to be euthanized and the third time was on Christmas day with our other dog who had hurt her paw and could barely walk. Each time we went, our emotions were running high and each time the vet(s) and staff that we dealt with were compassionate, understanding and friendly.
The vet and owner is amazing!! But the secretary is rude and not empathetic. She lied about information she gave me. She hung up on me. It was the most awful experience ever. And it’s sad because the vet is awesome!
My 1st and only choice. A couple of months ago we had to make a very hard decision and this place got us through it. A few weeks later, I got something in the mail which I assumed was probably a standard sympathy card, but when I opened it, out fell the pawprints of my sweet boy, I needed that at that moment so badly. I didnt ask for them to do that. The card was also signed by all of the staff. They have never forced us, guilted us or tried to pull our heart strings for money. They are always very pragmatic in their approach.
Great service. Took my cat in at 11.30pm and was well looked after.
Brought my dog here around midnight because of an allergic reaction to a Lepto vaccine. The staff were quick to setup my appointment and called me in on time. Was in-and-out in 30 minutes. Will consider this place for any future emergencies
If I had the option of selecting zero stars for this review, I would. This place is filled with nothing but scammers who basically give you the worst possible news before they can confirm any firm diagnosis. They charge $300 for x-rays, tell my family he has signs of tumors, and possible cancer, but isn't 100%. They then told us we need a specialist to look at the x-rays to give us a proper diagnosis for another $300!!! Then after waiting for 2 hours, they come back and tell us there's no signs of this, and that there still isn't a firm reading and said we need to do an CT Scan, etc.. for $8,000. What a joke! During this entire visit, they never once gave our dog any sort of care, they just left him on a table wrapped in blankets. No medication, no IV, nothing! They then urged us to not remove him from their care, WHAT CARE?! They did nothing the entire time and would offer any other help aside from telling us to do every test only to come back and tell us what we already knew coming in, which was NOTHING! Our dog is 15 years old, and I don't have to be a vet to know that there's no point in adding further pain and stress to a dog that age. In the end, we had 2 scans done for $1,000, and still was given no answers or medical assistance to help our dog. What a bunch of frauds! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!
Amazing from the second we walked in the initial gentlemen at reception was very friendly and knowlegable. The whole staff made us feel at home. My wife and I just moved to durham Durban and have definitely found our new vet. I strongly recommend this business. Just went again to king Hopkins last night with a very sick and traumatized cat the vet Monica and tech lance were both Incredible and great at what they do they jumped into action with in two minutes of us being there they comforted the cat while doing to work they were both sure of diagnosis and treated her with reasonable cost and didn't charge me for the emergency check up 5 stars again!!!!!! Thankyou king Hopkins from all of us
Very friendly staff. 24hr!
Always prompt and super courteous service with fair prices. Our go to vet for emergency or after hours care in the Durham Region.
Thank you so much king Hopkins pet hospital for all the love, support and respect that you have given to me and my pets. Recently we had to go through tough times with our little furry family member who was deteriorating fast over the weekend and we knew it's time to make hard decision. We took him to KHPH. It was our first experience and we were very unfamiliar with the process. Front staff took the time to respect our privacy and made it a very smooth process for us. Vets were very attentive, they listen to us, gave us options. Did few tests, discussed the results and decided it's humane to euthanize at this point. We felt so much better after knowing what was wrong with our pet and said good bye with clear conscious and proper closure. Thank you very much King Hopkins pet hospital.
5 starts is not enough. My dog is rescued and feeling very unsecured when anyone touching his body. To me it seemed impossible to get his blood sample (really mean it!). King Hopkins guys were REALLY patient and could get it done after 2 sessions (2 hours of trying!) without labeling my loving dog or any complain. They always providing full information and helpful in all possible ways.
I have had to come here twice for emergency situations with my pets. One for my cat who had a blocked urethra and once for my dog who ate vitamins. Both times the staff was incredibly friendly, kind and reassuring when I was upset. I love their service so much I have decided to switch vets and have them be our regular vet. Love their service!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Great staff! Good rate, they don’t charge you for emergency hours fees and the service is wonderful! Thank you so much ????
Called after hrs worried about my sick doggie, so kind and helpful. Glad to know I have a place to turn to for assistance.
Seemed like they added unnecessary tests and blood work for a minor injury that occurred only shortly before arriving. Also after the visit they didn't tell me what procedure they did. They just handed my animal to me. Very little post surgery information. A staff member called the next day but didn't know for sure what was done to my pet during the procedure. I would prefered to have been more informed for its medical history, to give to future vets. They also are vague on the phone and it feels like they kind of lure you in without giving specifics. They don't charge for after hours visits. But I think you end up paying it through other tests. My pet is recooperating fine so whatever they did seems to have worked.
Our 5 yr old Shih Tzu was showing signs of IVDD. With a little pain medication and rest, she was back to her usual spry self within a few days. My wife and I absolutely love this Vet! Always always always quick service, with reasonable prices; making Dora feel great everytime she's been there! Whether it was updating her needles or runny stool; she leaves there feeling like a million bucks! Thank you, our family truly appreciats you! Dora
Very caring and compasdionate dr. and staff. They understood my cirumstances and accommodated my fur babies needs. Thank you
Great staff. Expanded hours of operation.
I took my 13 week old puppy here and had a fantastic experience. The place was clean and orderly, staff friendly and knowledgeable Dr. Morrison answered all of my questions and concerns. I felt like my dog is in very safe hands!
Part II. The service just keeps getting better. Last night we went to pick up Buttercup's ashes, her paw print and her bed. We got everything but the bed. They are not sure if the bed was cremated with her, EVEN though I requested the bed back for my son. I was told not a problem, it will even be cleaned for you. It was so clean, it is now ashes! Told the receptionist I was total discussed with their service and would NEVER recommend them to any one who cares for their pet. If I could put a zero or negative number I would. I have waited a week before posting this review since I wanted the emotions to be removed. I recently had to make the terrible decision to euthanasia our family cat. I have been dealing with Millennium CIty Vet for years, they have helped us through rough times with other family members. Unfortunately, Buttercup took a turn for the worst on a Saturday when Millennium is closed. I was referred to King Hopkins. I made an appointment for 5:30 to euthanasia Buttercup. She was a diabetic cat and we knew her time was coming to an end with the family. We all said our goodbyes before I drove to Whitby, my eyes were full of tears. When I arrived, I waited for a few minutes to register with the receptionist, once that was done she showed me a room to wait for the Dr. When the Vet arrived, I told him that Buttercup had diabetes and we are from Millennium City Vet who have been following her. I also explained what treatments we have tried but unfortunately it had taken it's toll on her. He began to review what diabetes does to a cat, the same conversation I have had with my Dr at Millenium. He was talking about running test to show the diabetes had poisoned her body. He finally ask me, what was my decision. I found this question unnecessary and actually cruel. Once again I made it clear the appointment was to euthanize her. He proceeded to explain the process to me. Buttercup went peacefully, which is what we all wanted. I pulled myself together and proceed to the receptionist to pay the invoice I had to wait approx 5-10 while she chitchatted. At that point I just wanted out, paid the invoice and left. Once I was home and reviewed the details, I realized they charged me $81 for a "consultation". I just felt so taken advantage of at such an awful moment. I would NEVER recommend this vet. I called Millennium to tell them of the terrible service and suggested they think twice about referrals to this clinic.
I took my hamster in at around midnight, and they were quick to treat her for wet tail, they gave her medication and dosed her up with fluids. She did not end up surviving but she was at least comfortable as she died
I have been to King Hopkins on many occasions and have always been very appreciative of the care that both my own and my foster dogs have received. I have been in for the loss of my old girl, regular check ups for my younger guy and emergency help for a foster puppy of mine. Everyone has always been very friendly, knowledgeable and made what is sometimes a very chaotic, scary or sad situation as smooth and painless as possible. After a traumatic injury to my 6 month old foster puppy we were in the clinic every few days and staff were great. So much so that Roo would go in the door and want to go to the staff to get her leg checked and bandages changed (no resistance from a puppy in pain is the best feeling ever!!!)
I've brought both my cat and dog here and have been very pleased with the veterinary care. The prices are reasonable as well and they are not pushy.
Amazing staff who are well knowledged and actually care
The wait is ridiculous and there is no communication. We have waited in our vehicle for over 30 minutes each time. We get Covid protocol but communication would be nice.
I was in a bind with an emergency situation last week, these guys aren't my usual vet but when my own couldn't accommodate us, these guys stepped up and squeezed us in just an hour after I called. Super grateful and impressed with the service. Thanks again!
King Hopkins Pet Hospital was very helpful when I my dog was in need of urgent care. This establishment offers service 24/7 and offers more affordable pricing than a nearby Vet Hospital. The staff was very welcoming and caring and offered the proper diagnosis and treatment.
I am so thankful for the service my dog and I received. From my encounter with reception all the way to the vet who treated my dog after the attack, everything was so quick and so pleasant. It felt like we received VIP treatment. Every person involved in my dog's care made me feel calm and confident that he was in good hands. Thank you all so much for your dedication to what you do. I appreciate it and my dog is doing so much better because of it.
Frist time and happy with service and professionalism
I was in early this morning. Dr. Black and another staff member were both extremely patient, supportive, and warm, during a very stressful few hours. They took incredible care and were very communicative. All without emergency fees! I'll be back, but during the day, for scheduled vet care.. Thank you!
We called for our dog’s emergency at 11pm and we were given appointment for 1am which was very quick. All the other hospitals had 4hrs of waiting. Vet was knowledgeable, patiently listening and explained us everything in detail. Throughly examined our pet and didn’t rush like some other vets. They don’t charge any emergency fees and consultation charges were only $83.
The Vet's and the techs that work here care so much about the family members that go there. Thank you for making my Best Friend better. ????
Very good service. Caring and considerate of the feelings we have for our pet. They went out of their way to provide a great atmosphere for us to say good bye to our dog. Highly recommended.
I had to put my dog down here, and when we first went in the doctor who did the overnight shift was absolutely amazing, we had taken our dog home to spend the last day with her. And when we came back in the evening the lady at the front desk wasn't aware, and was telling us we had to wait till 10pm. When dealing with such a fragile moment, they should have known, also she was pretty dry. We had to enquire about the foot prints instead of them offering.. over all it was clean and good. I just think they should be a little more sincere when a family member passes
Very professional and clean clinic!
Firstly: no emergency fees! The first time I went here last year, Staff was very understanding even when I was a bit of an ***hole (my bird was crashing and I desperately wanted him to be seen) and they squeezed me in. It was a rough time; they had amazing tact and I could feel the empathy when they told me it was too late. They’re my first choice for any emergency. Thank you to everyone here!!
Great staff
Exceptionally clean vet, and took care of our Maddie in a jiffy!
Staff is always caring and I love that they follow up with their patients afterwards with a call. If you are still concerned they will let you cam e back in to ensure that the patients are doing well.
I brought my rat to this clinic the other night and he received prompt, thorough, and compassionate care. The vet here knows what she’s doing with small pets. They have a great system organized for dealing with the current physical distancing requirements and while I was asked to wait out/in the car, both of the employees I dealt with were very professional and kept me informed throughout the visit.
Awesome staff felt very comfortable
Incredible staff. Available all hours and on short notice. Performed a life saving surgery on our cat and have been very helpful throughout ongoing complications. I would recommend King Hopkins to any pet owners in the area!
Great staff and knowledgeable
Very professional and helpful
I took my dog to get neutered. Staff was great here. They took good care of my dog, sending pictures after his surgery. They even called to check up on him a few times in between visits. I will definatley take my dog back here.
Service was great got my sick dog in quickly cost was reasonable
Took great care of my Cat
Amazing Staff her are wonderful
Been there once had a really good experience..
I would give this place 6 stars if I could. We unfortunately had to visit here because our dog had a stroke and was not making out very well. Our usual vet was booked and we needed to see a vet soon so we went here and it was the best decision. They were very helpful and kind and sympathetic through the entire process. We ended up having to euthenize our dog and this place made a difficult decision much more bareable. They were fantastic leading up to and afterwards. They even hand delivered a sympathy card and the Memorial Paw Print afterwards. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Incredible attentive and very professional..really impressed today first time here A+++
My Son had to take his dog Murphy to King Hopkins Pet Hospital. With such sadness Murphy had to be put to rest. The compassion from all the staff and the Veterinarian was outstanding. We both thank them all so very much. ????
Not very personable. I expected to talk to a veterinarian, at least over the phone, but it was the receptionist (I think) who t to my info and relayed it to veterinarian. This type of communication isn't good as it leaves no opportunity to ask questions. They did not charge me as they didn't see me (that was honest on their part)
Negligent money grabbers!! I used to love this place. Everyone was so friendly, but over the past couple years they have become just money grabbers, and getting worse each time I deal with them Today they told me that they couldn't see me right away even after I told them my dog was having difficulty breathing! He had been stung by a bee, and going into a major allergy reaction. Avoid at all costs
My gosh what a fantastic place, we brought our dog Nova here yesterday afternoon, after unfortunately she found her self in a altercation. The lady I spoke to when I called was so friendly, and just as wonderful in person. They got us in within 45 minutes of me calling in. The Vet, my gosh so sweet! It's beyond stressful when something happens to your furry friend, and the King Hopkins Team was fantastic at taking care of our little Potcake Nova. Thank you to everyone involved in her care yesterday, please don't hesitate on taking your pet here.
Great staff very knowledgable
I don't know what happened to this place it used to be really solid. I came here with my cat because it was a cat only hospitals and I felt that they really understood cats. However, there has been a management and staff change recently and it is not at all what it used to be. The front desk staff is rude and don't even acknowledge your existence. I was told to drop off my pet, then made to wait 40 minutes before they talked to me. This was such a huge waste of my time. The ladies on the phone don't communicate so every-time you call it's like you've never called before. They don't take the time to explain anything to you over the phone and just ask you to come in. Once you're in you receive a bill of extra charges that are unexplained. When I asked for clarification I got brief "that's just how it is" without explanation. It made no sense. I'm not coming back here again and I took my business and the care of my pet to another more trustworthy veterinarian.
The staff there was great and very accommodating to getting me an appointment for my kitten Lilo on short notice. The vet did a great job at making my kitten feel comfortable and not scared to be around them as it was her first vet visit. Will definately be bringing my animals back to them.
One of our beloved cats passed away on a Sunday morning recently. We took his remains here as it seems they're open 24/7. We'd never been before, but the staff was very helpful and compassionate. Today we received a card in the mail signed by the staff, offering their condolences. As I said before, we aren't regular customers of theirs, but they went above and beyond for us, and it is much appreciated.
Took great care of our girl and have such great hours for those who don't work your typical 9-5, prices and advice are great.
We have taken both our dogs in on seperate emergencies during covid and the staff have been so attentive. They were honest and helpful with weighing our options. They went into details to better explain their findings and our dogs came out so much better at the end. Thank you King Hopkins team, we appreciate your care and kindness during such stressful times.
Super quick, convenient. Staff is very friendly.
Very friendly staff.
Their staff is always nice and the doctors are great and answer all my questions, thank you for lookin out for our furbabys!
My cat was extremely sick, they were able to help and buy her some extra time with us. They kept sending me photos and updates daily, which helped me so much! They constantly kept me in the loop and eased my worries about leaving my cat. I am forever grateful to them and how amazing they were with my girl. Thank you again
They really helped us out in need. They took us within hours of calling. Thank you so much for helping us
Great people are care about your pets and your concerns
Compassionate and quick care for our beloved cat Harry, who unfortunately died yesterday. Thank you for the help and support.
Great staff, very friendly, prices very reasonable
The staff are very sweet I had just lost my male cat before I brought my female in the black cat at the front desk looked just like my male I broke down at the front desk and a staff member was sweet enough to give me a hug, I love the separate entrance and any questions or concerns I had were all addressed.. Will continue to bring momma there she is so comfortable with them!
I ended up at King Hopkins Pet Hospital after a misdiagnosis from my regular vet - long story short, my dog needed surgery to repair her torn ACL (regular vet said a brace would be sufficient smh). After speaking to Dr. Black about the risks, recovery and cost of the surgery, they were able to book the surgery a few days later - and right around Christmas no less. We were given updates on Boots throughout the day of the surgery and given a FULL rundown of after-surgery care when we picked her up the next day. Since then, we've had 4 follow-up appts and they've all been ON-TIME! I would highly recommend King Hopkins and their entire staff to anyone looking for a reliable, professional and trustworthy vet.
Very friendly and knowledgeable
Very good place
Finally! A vet hospital that has gotten with the times and offers convenient hours!
Dr Abraham was very kind and helpful. Front staff is friendly and accommodating to schedule appointments
The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and very kind.
Our dog required to be seen by a vet and our regular, local vet said they were already too booked up. It wasn't an 'emergency' but something was definitely not right with her and we were very concerned. We called King Hopkins and they to bring her immediately and they would fit us in. They were friendly, responsive, easy to chat with and even came out to the vehicle to get our dog and to talk to us about what they were going to look for and again, for their eventual diagnosis. (This is during Covid). Would highly recommend them!
saved my dog’s life for a fair price
I have always had excellent science, beautiful and compassionate care and amazing service. I have been coming for over 10 years and I am really surprised at the extreme negative reviews given how frequently I have come and how far out of the way I am willing to go for the excellent care. It is expensive, but I feel the expertise is a much better value than limping along with the other options I have tried.
I thought my pet was close to dying and while on the phone the receptionest was very sincere about my situation, but that all changed when she put me on "hold" but really I heard her and her coworkers making fun of me and laughing about my pets situation when I was on the verge of tears about my pet possibly dying. They should be fired I would hate for anyone else to experience what I just had, no one deserves to to feel like this, especially having an emergency with your loved pet.
King Hopkins Pet Hospital was amazing, everyone super helpful. Our Buster needed a Hernia surgery operation. Everything was well discussed, qualified surgeon. Job well done and patient is doing well.
My Dog recently required IV medication for a serious allergic reaction. The vet tech and Dr Tamara were very professional, compassionate and thorough in their examination and explanations. I would recommend them to anyone requiring emergency services that they provide.
Excellent service every time we go there.
The best staff and vets ever.
We normally have no issues or complaints with King Hopkins. We have been coming for a 1.5years since we got out dog. The only issue I have is that sometimes the front staff are not very nice, lack of Smiling and monotone. The 2 vets we have dealt with have been nothing but great. The only issue I have is the last time i went they tried to tell me we had an outstanding balance which is not true because my husband paid for it and then charged me for a test that i was made to believe was already paid for. I couldn't give them a full 5 stars. As i feel that the initial encounter walking in is the base of how the visit will go. But the care we have received for our dog has always been good.
This is an absolutely awesome vet. So, so kind.
Our Leonberger Sirius had accidentally swallowed a piece of toy, and on a Sunday night before a Holiday Monday he spent hours vomiting. We rushed him to King Hopkins Pet Hospital over Cavan because they were able to see Sirius sooner. They looked him over, took an xray and bloodwork and determined early Monday morning that he needed surgery. He went in that morning, and we were able to take him home 24 hours later. All is well that ends well right? Well, not really. This vet has quality people who work hard and care about pets. However, none of them seem to be on the same page, and we often times got conflicting information about what was going on and what they were planning to do. We went to visit Sirius on Monday night, 12 hours after the surgery, and we found him in some terrible conditions. Sirius is a 165 pound Leonberger who stands about 3 feet tall and has a thick coat of fur. He was in a room that was not even big enough to lay down in, with the temperature of the room well over 21 degrees. These are terrible conditions for a Leonberger, and we found him basically hyperventilating from being overheated. The techs chalked this up to his meds. The vet also tried to keep him there until 11 PM tonight, for "observation," when conveniently our dog staying there until 11 PM tonight would have allowed an extra charge. We were young, scared owners of our beloved child, and they seemed to be taking advantage of us. I do want to note that the vet who owns this clinic, Dr. Black, is an absolute joy to work with, and she treated a good friend wonderfully when her cat went for a visit there. Like I mentioned, the people here work hard and do care for their patients. However, things seem to run sloppily, and they were ill equipped to handle such a large breed of dog. They handle emergencies well, but they don't seem to be the most knowledgeable clinic or the most prepared.
Great friendly staff. And open 24hrs a day.
Called at 130am and was seen before 2. Amazing team and care! All is well! I may have found a new vet! Lexi thanks you, she seems better already!!
Came in at 12am for my bird. I was served quickly vet and staff were super nice
My cats leg was injured and we didn’t know the cause, so we took him to this vet. They kept him for 4 hours in pain and didn’t improve his situation in any way. They kept on stalling and dealing with other pets even though he was in pain and also expressed himself. When they took the X-ray they said nothing was there . So I was a little confused as in why they kept in for four hours. Also they kept on telling us different prices. At first they told us $200 for the x-ray and then at the end they told us 300 for the x-ray. And they also said everything was cheaper since my kitten was small for three months since he is half munchkin. Even now the day after he is still in pain and meows and such. It’s not the fact of the price or the money it’s the fact of their dishonesty, no good communication. Even when we were on the phone they dodged our questions and didn’t answer directly. As me taking my pet their I want a store that I can trust and doesn’t lie or make my pet uncomfortable. So overall the experience was bad for me and my pet
My cat died there because of scary???
Our puppy was stung by a bee and caused her face to severely swell up. After taking her to our regular vet, she was given meds to help the swelling go down. After a few days, the swelling had gone down around her face, but we noticed a bump on the top of her head starting to swell. At first it was just a small bump, that we assumed was the intitial sting site, but it continued to grow. It had reached the size of a tennis ball and was causing her eye to swell shut because it was so big. We took her here at 1am, and within 45 minutes, we were on our way home with no more tennis ball on our puppies head! They drained all the fulid that had built up inside and our puppy instantly felt so much better. We are so thankful they are open when no one else is as we were really starting to panic. Zola (our puppy) was so well taken care of. There is a $170+tax fee just to be seen by the doctor, but in my opinion, worth every penny.
I've taken both of my kittens into King Hopkins for all of their vaccinations so far and will be sure to come back for their neutering as well. Dr. Williams and the rest of the staff have been both very informative and helpful with all of my questions about proper care-taking for kittens and explanations as to what to look out for as they grow. I'll be sure to continue coming into King Hopkins and I will recommend my family to bring their pets in as well.
Great experience! My Rabbit was seen by the vet and he did a thorough exam and was very knowledgeable and experienced with exotic pets. Very friendly too! 5 stars!
This review is long overdue. The full story is posted on King Hopkins Facebook page. Just over 2 years ago Dr Black and her competent staff saved my beautiful dog after she was given up for dead by other vets. My dog has chronic kidney failure and I was told to euthanize her the very same day I brought her in to that other clinic. That clinic did not try or suggest any viable treatment for my poor dog. To make a long story short, I decided to keep her home for her to die peacefully in my arms when her time came. During the time I visited another vet for a second opinion and they suggested l try her on home sub Q infusion, with no other treatment. Then I met Dr. Black and I took my dog to King Hopkins Pet Hospital! When she saw my dog, her blood work was off the chart, she was really sick and even Iosing her hair. She saved my dog, who today is doing well. It’s been over 2 years now. She is on medication, eating a renal diet and looks like any other dog who is happy, loving and healthy! Can’t say enough to thank Dr.Black and her staff for saving my dog!
The veterinarian took such time with me to explain what was going on, to walk through options for care. Friendly care in our conversation.
Dr. Black has taken care of my cat Lily twice and has provided excellent care to her. I was very concerned with her outside ear infection and he did an effective procedure to heal her ear. He definitely cares about our pets and you can see this in his passion in his veterinarian work.
Receptionist very friendly. Called to see about boarding my cat Pepper. She called me back to let me know nothing was available at that time but referred me to a great place.
They did a hip replacement on my dog and it gave him a brand new life. No more pain and limping, he can go on walks, he even got to go camping with us. And he didn't have to spend too much time in the hospital. It was great.
The BEST VETERINARY CLINIC IN DURHAM!!! Friendly staff! Kind, caring and empathetic. Highly Professional, informative and refreshing to be treated with such kindness. I highly recommend bringing your furfriend here!
Very Friendly and efficient Team both Doctors and Staff! Excellent treatment to Pets and owners. Diffidently recommended Vets.
Dr. Black was very professional & helped to make the sad situation a little easier to deal with (her big hug meant a lot). Appreciate it.
I am so grateful for Dr. Black, the ER vet. My boxer Maximus has ingested foxtails and he was uncontrollably sneezing and coughing. Dr. Black was caring, compassionate and loving. He explained everything thoroughly and genuinely care. Thank you Dr. Black!!!
When our vet left us high and dry in an emergency with our dog this clinic came to the rescue and helped us. We have been loyal and spent money over time with our previous vet and thats how we were repaid. This is a great vet who is available when you are in need. Billing is reasonable if not less than our old vet too. My advice is you will be happy with the service they offer here. Id also like to add read you should read between the lines in some of the bad reviews on here. Anything they say goes against what my experience has been.
Great vets!
Such a great place to bring our cats. They have always taken great care of our family.
I have been very appreciative of the care that both my own and my foster dogs have received. Just LOVE them!
If you care about your pet, I urge you not to take them here. The amount of incompetence is astounding. A receptionist providing misquotes, likely in an attempt to lure you to the clinic, then upon arrival requotes for over double the amount ($1100 to $2600 - $3200!). I understand that Covid has complicated things, but while the receptionist and vet talk amongst themselves inside the clinic to figure to out exactly how much to overcharge, my dog sat inside the car suffering and was left untreated for hours. The individuals at this clinic are nothing short of negligent and prey on people’s emotions in an attempt to profit. They do not have your animals best interest in mind.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a new vet to care for your pet.
Very professional and sensitive to our very sick beloved dog. Thank you
Everyone has always been very friendly, knowledgeable and made what is sometimes a very chaotic, scary or sad situation as smooth and painless as possible.
King Hopkins Pet Hospit alanimal hospital is doing it right! We took our dog in when he was incredibly lethargic and having trouble walking out of nowhere. King Hopkins Pet Hospital was prompt, respectful, empathetic, and helped our little guy out without doing unnecessary tests and running up our bill. Thank you!
Took my little one there when she was sick and was treated with such courtesy and care. Cannot say enough good things about these people and the work they do.
Great place! Took great care of my cat. Will definately be using this vet going forward.
So glad I brought my dog in last night for a second opinion, Dr.Black was amazing! She was very kind and caring and figured out what was going on with my pup and got him all treated up. Her reception staff was also great, very welcoming. Would recommend!
It helped my puppies a lot they are back to getting healthy. Thank you for the great advice.
Brought my sick dog to be euthanized a few weeks ago. It was a rough few days and we weren’t doing so well with the decision. Once we got there a vet tech (tall guy, longer hair) came out and gently carried my dog in, he took her to a room (which the staff had made comfortable with lots of blankets). The tech was exceptionally gentle and thoughtful and lay my dog down gently on the opposite side of her shoulder cancer. The Dr. came in was kind and soft spoken, he explained the procedure and offered us as much time as we needed before and after it was to be done. Once it was complete, we decided to have her buried and needed help carrying her to the car and that tech came out again and helped carry her. I wish I took his name to mention it in this review.
It was different because of covid, I liked the fact that the doctor who did the examination came right out to the car to explain what he had found. They are handling this covid situation quite well. I give them 5 stars. Great job
What is going on over there? I have only ever gone in for cat food as I live very close by. Today I read the reviews to see if I should bring my cat in for an appointment. Sounds like you need to address a number of things: -The organization and friendliness of the reception, wait times -Certain vets competence and bedside manner/communication -The number of unnecessary tests ordered and the extra expense -the cleanliness and set up of the office- basement tests, needles, washed down surfaces, small rooms for big dogs -answering questions and instilling confidence in patient “parents”, treating each animal like a beloved family member. There are a number of great reviews, but the number of low ones is concerning and not to be ignored. I would recommend you take this list to staff and have a meeting, discussing the idea of intent vs. Impact. Are they overworked? Under appreciated? What is the issue? It is translating to the clients. Reviews matter and I’m sorry to say we won’t be trying out your clinic as a result.
Great place to bring your pet strongly advise you to take your animal to here .
If this is the way they treat people I cant imagine how animals are treated!! I had to bring my dog in for a late night appointment, when I had additional questions the next day and had to call back a few times the customer service I got from one of their employees (Amanda) was appalling. I was in tears asking for suggestions about giving my dog a syringe and she basically told me there was "nothing they could do about it" and another time I spoke with her she spoke to me so rudely I couldnt believe it, I only asked if they were cutting dogs nails. EDIT- I called back and asked to speak to the owner, I was verbally accosted by another receptionist and told I would not receive service there again. Then I was hung up on and my telephone number was blocked. AGAIN, if this is how they treat people I can only imagine how the treat our animals!!!
Best staff helped me the best they could with Mya sadly she had passed but they were quicker than anything already had the door open when i ran her out of the car this vet is amazing used it for Mya cause she didnt like people handling her but she opened right up 5/5 would recommend
I was really impressed.Had to bring my 15 year old dog to be put down.He had never been to this clinic. He was seen right away.We were even able to be with him.The vet explained everything she did.Nice young man carried him in and out.Showed understanding and compassion.Thank you.
Took my dog Marley in this morning for an eye infection and was very impressed with the intake, doctor professionalism and communication all around. Post appointment service they engaged the referral optimologist passing all needed documentation over and provided hard and soft copies to myself. Very grateful!
Amazing service!! Called 8 different places before this one and they were the only ones to care to help our dog that got bit in the neck. Took us in right away. I would recommend this place to anyone, the staff here are amazing!!!
My mother has been back several times with Storme for check ups & continues to receive exceptional care. Highly recommended!
I always take my cats here. They are friendly and helpful. The vets are personable and very patient. They also don’t try to break the bank while trying to what’s best for your pet.
Gotta say after seeing recent reviews I was hesitant despite being an existing customer. They just confirmed my concern again despite placing the health of two of our dogs in their care and spending many dollars doing it. I am most rightly hesitant to be told I need to wait two days to be seen for what appears to be a viral kennel cough. Just like last time which if spreads will cost us another $300 just for the wait never mind the dogs suffering. I asked if they are understaffed or need another Vet and the person essentially hung up on me. Not so nice. Next.
My puppy and I had a great experience at the King Hopkins. Everyone greeted us and showed interest in my dogs health and care! I was very impressed and this experience.
I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The vets are amazing as well as the other staff members. I would highly recommend them.
I am disgusted by the quality of service offered at this vet. They are extremely unorganized and unbothered regarding their customers. The first incident was when my puppy was being checked for fleas. I understand this will take time, but I waited in my car for over two hours. The doctor explained that there was another patient who was being seen and was the cause for the hold up. Like… how can you leave people waiting that long because YOU are unorganized /understaffed. Second event was today. I made my way from Oshawa to get my pups 3rd round of shots + examination only to be told FIVE MINUTES before my appointment that it is cancelled. So I have to drive all the way home because the workers here don’t know how to schedule? This time the reasoning was another pet once again was being seen as an emergency and there was no veterinarian available for my scheduled time. You’d think you would have known this before confirming the appointment or at least let me know a day in advance. No. They cancel 5 minutes before, with me right around the corner. I don’t know what is up with this place. My aunt has stopped using this vet and so has my mother. The service is just unbelievably poor. I understand if they are understaffed but that is a problem that should be taken care of and not something customers should have to deal with. They should really consider finding new workers or getting themselves organized because I doubt people will continue paying for their services if being treated they way I have.
I've been going here for a few years now and I'm very happy to have found this vet clinic. Their flexible hours work great with my schedule, they always give me two dogs loving attention, and treat them wonderfully. I go frequently because my one dog has allergies and everytime has been great! I don't find them over priced either. Would recommend this place to anyone, definitely.
Truly wish I could have some good things to say about this practice, but I simply don't. No matter how many times I express medications refills and things like that over the phone, it becomes an absolute mess. I go to pick up and half of the order is missing and the other half is incorrect. This vet seems to not pay attention to any details, which is worrisome. If they can't get simple things like this done, how are they effectively caring for animals brought here?
I brought my shorkie in for emergency treatment and received the best care from a wonderful Vet (Dr. Tamara). She also took the time to explain everything to me . Very Professional and personable. Would go there again if need arises. Boo (my shorkie) would like to say THANK YOU as well.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Will go there again.
Great experience! Open 24/7 not an Emergency Vet but Im sure they take emergencies. Fixed up our dog. Spent time with us..patient doctor. Was perfect for our situation, could not get yo our vet due to yhe holidays and work. This vet took is for a 9:30 pm appointment.
Staff were incredibly friendly, took my dog right away, and explained why they were doing what they were doing with my dog. She was back in my hands within the hour. They gave us the full receipt with a breakdown of costs and filled out our insurance forms so we could issue a claim. Highly recommend for all emergency situations!
Very accommodating. My dog was in pain and my very was closed. They immediately gave me a solution and helped me out. Friendly staff and trusting.
They are nice and caring people.
I went about a year ago (August or Sept 2020) to have my newly adopted kitten get a deworming, experience was quick and no problems. I wanted to return to have his annual checkup and shots, left a message about 2 months ago and never had a return call from King Hopkins so I decided if they aren't going to return my call I will go elsewhere. When I was there in 2020 I mistakenly left my only copy of my cats records so I called this past week to retrieve a copy.....I was informed that they were thrown out because I hadn't returned since 2020 and exact words "our drawers were getting full with papers so we threw them out"! PARDON? I had no need to return as my cat was fine and if you had returned my call months ago you would of had my business. Thankfully Lindsay Humane Society still had the records for me. A friend recommended SPRINGWOOD animal hospital in Whitby.......I cannot say AMAZING enough times. So professional, thorough and even followed up with a call the next day to see how my cat was.. and this was just for a routine checkup! My advice.....go to SPRINGWOOD for cost efficient and professional services.
Justice had a great visit time. My wife was scared to leave her alone for the first time but the staff kept us updated on how she was doing .
I took my pet budgie here when he had an emergency (had a cut and was bleeding). I believe that normally this hospital only sees exotic pets at their other location, however, since my budgie required urgent care, the doctor who specializes in exotics fit me into her schedule. The doctor arrived earlier than expected for her shift, so the reception team called me and offered for me to come in right away. I really appreciated them not only allowing me to bring my budgie, but that they cared enough to call back and have him seen even faster. When I was there, Dr. Sasha Black was very friendly and had a calm demeanor, which made my budgie comfortable and less stressed. My invoice was a lot lower than I had expected as well - I was worried that it would cost extra due to it being an emergency, but they charged an extremely fair price. They helped me out when I needed them and I appreciate this so much. Thank you team!
Always friendly and have more than fair prices on everything. These guys truly care about your fur babies and not so much about money Always friendly and have more than fair prices on everything. These guys truly care about your fur babies and not so much about money
They took wonderful care of my dog when he got neutered! They even texted me updates with pictures. Super affordable prices with 5 ⭐ quality services & care.
They wouldn't look at my dying dog for 11 days. They closed due to a staff covid scare....she didn't have it. My dog has died
Awesome experience with my 4lbs toy poodle Nikki at 330am till 6am. Was not as expensive as most after hours vets. Dr Black is a very friendly doctor that goes above and beyond for her patients and their owners. I am recommending King Hopkins Pet Hospital, day or night time to any one looking for great medical attention or advice.
No bedside manner. They only cared about my money. When putting down my beloved animal.
Despite covid protocols and the inconveniences because of outdoor greets and updates, the staff were very pleasant, attentive to details, and Dr. Tamara asked all the right questions and provided, in appropriate detail, the diagnosis options and recommended meds/program..... overall......top notch visit.... highly recommended
called to ask about price ranges for a dying pet's treatment, where I clearly explained the symptoms and tests that where done on my pet, and the person on the phone refused to give me a price range, unless I paid 80 bucks and came in first.I then asked to speak with a vet and was denied that as well. lmao I have to pay 80 bucks for you to tell me how much treatment will cost. Whats the problem with me explaining whats going on, and asking for a potential price range? I wasn't asking for you to treat my animal without seeing it, I wanted to know how much it would potentially cost so I could compare the prices, and figure out if it was to expensive or not. would have gladly taken my pet to your vet clinic, after I received a price range. thanks to your receptionists fine work I took my business elsewhere.
I came here with my pup who has not been well. Vet told me blood work needed to be done, I was given an initial cost of $150 and it slowly crept up to $340 for the same blood work. I was told my pup could have nephritis. I said no to this blood work as the cost sounded ridiculous. Took my pup to the vet later that week and blood work was $175, all clear and was told my pup most likely had an upset stomach. ZERO stars. More focus trying to use scare tactics and sell versus treating.
Back in June, I had to make the sudden and heartbreaking decision of saying goodbye to my 7 year old rabbit, Jerry. We are actually clients of Pickering Animal Hospital, however the exotic Dr. was not in that day, so they referred us over to King Hopkins, in which I am so grateful for. We had such a great experience from start to finish (given the circumstance, of course). The staff who were helping us that day, Dr. Tamara, Tea and Emily were outstanding. I was hysterical and they very were patient, understanding and extremely empathetic with the decision I had to make, as we know it's a day we all dread. He had multiple seizures that day and the ladies had provided their expert opinions and advice on what the right thing to do was, but still left it in my hands to decide. After the decision was made, they let me have as much time with him as I needed to say goodbye. A few weeks later, I received a personalized, hand-written letter in the mail from Dr. Tamara, which also had Jerry's paw prints on it. This was the icing on the cake and provided me with a lot of closure knowing that he was in good hands once he left mine. Thank you again to all of the staff at King Hopkins Pet Hospital! I will not hesitate to visit you again when needed.
Thank you to the Doctors and staff at the King Hopkins Hospital. In the past year I have had to take my dog for an emergency visit twice. Both visits the staff was welcoming and helpful. I recently moved to the area and will definitely be making King Hopkins my regular vet!
By far the most caring vet out there. For an appointment based places they are so accommodating to emergencies and handle your pets so well. 100% recommended.
Great service, great caring vet
Very happy with service.
Very reliable and trusted. Vets aren't cheap in general but again the quality of care is highly recommended
Excellent service highly recommend it
I give them 100 stars over and over and over!! They're the best Veterinarian hospital in Whitby hands down! I can't stress that enough!! The Dr. is an exceptional Vet. She went above and beyond and saved my little 16 yr old Boomer's life. I absolutely love her! The staff is so pleasant, professional and very caring. There prices are very affordable. They have plenty of free parking, convenient hours. It's a win win for everyone!! I recommend them to anyone who wants great care for their fur family pets.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I brought my 7 week old puppy to get checked and I was brought into the room and there was PISS on the table where the animals sit while getting checked out. 2nd there was cat hair ALL over the floor in the front where dogs and cats walk around.... and 3rd I had to wait half an hour for the 2 people that worked at the front to find label paper for my dogs medicine!!!!!! This place is terrible. Ladies at the front need more training also cleaning skills!!!! Do not recommend at all!!!
Very unhappy with this place. I took my cat and her two new born kittens to get checked because they were so small and not feeding. They charged an exam fee and X-ray and said that everything looks fine. I asked repeatedly about how small the kittens were and if I should be worried. They told me not to worry and they will be fine, if they don’t seem better within 5 days bring them back. Less than 12 hours later both kittens sadly passed away.
My kitty got in trouble with a raccoon and got hurt really bad. I called, and that night she got in. You took such good care of her. Everyone who works there, I applaud you! Such great staff! She’s comfortable, she’s happy and she’s on her way to being her old self again. Thank you so much! She’s my baby. You all took care of her like you loved her too.
My dog needed emergency surgery and this hospital was very responsive. Amazing communication through out the process. All the workers do an amazing job. Dr. Black and to all the workers, Thank you!
The doctors were wonderful. Walked through all of our questions and followed up on Mom's dog. Can't thank them enough.
I went to your clinic where everyone was pleasant and helpful. My pet was making a noise which is concerning , that didn’t happen when she was there. I understand. But Dr Black made it very clear that if it happens, which it has been since about 30 minutes since we left and has been happening quite frequently for the last two days. I sent a video about 2 hours after we left . Then followed up in the morning and left two voice Mails and two emails. Now it’s been 2 days and I’ve spoke with someone this evening who said Dr. Black would call me back this evening, again no call. I would just appreciate some help. I spent over $200 with no argument for a very small pet and am very concerned about. She stressed if i sent a video she could give me more information. But I can’t seem to get in touch or any answers!
They had the vet exam my dog Max at 4am without charging an emergency fee. When I had some challenge with the medication for Max and they walked me through everything over the phone. A week later the clinic called to check up on Max and make sure he was ok and getting better. I am switching from my vet to this clinic as they are AMAZING. I felt very supported through the entire process which helped me to feel good about Max's treatment and health. Max is back to his perky mischievous self.
Love this place the vet spent more than 1 hour with me explaining everything i need to know about my new puppy. The reception staff are so friendly and attentive, they love animals. I would highly recommend!
The nicest, most caring people!
I went to King Hopkins Vet Hospital today for the first time. I was very impressed with the service by all the staff. They were very friendly and kind to my puppy Sadie. Dr. Black was amazing and very informative. She explained exactly what I should do with my puppy's eye. I thought she was going to do surgery to remove Sadie's eye, but instead because she is so young to wait and see if the meds will work and try and save it. Needless to say, I will continue going to this clinic for all my pet needs!
After a traumatic injury to my 6 month old foster puppy we were in the clinic every few days and staff were great.
They were very good with my cat.
Where do I begin. My dog has allergies and we've been treating her itchiness with Cyto-point and then we switched to Apoquel within the last 3 months of us moving to Whitby. I started using this vet clinic within the last couple of months and was told I'd be able to refill a prescription without issue. Well, I tried to re-frill a prescription today and was told that this would be my last prescription refill (3rd month of Apoquel total) until my animal with allergies gets bloodwork done on the next refill because they believe the Apoquel may be causing my dog to have "kidney issues" and they'd like to make sure there's no side-affects with long term use.. I was informed prior to this that Apoquel has no side-affects and is OK to with no long-term issues to the kidney or liver. I asked staff member if I could speak with a vet. They informed me I was unable to speak to one as they are busy (understandable, they seem to only ever have 1 person working when I'm there). I indicated to the staff member that I wouldn't be getting the bloodwork as to their recommendation after this refill. The staff member proceeded to say they wouldn't provide me with the medication for my dog (for this current visit, as opposed to the next visit) as the doctor didn't feel comfortable(it's in a container on the counter waiting for me as I called in 2 hours prior and was told I'd receive the Apoquel for my dog without issue). I think I will spend a bit more and take my dog somewhere I will not feel as if I'm being taken advantage of. Thanks for not allowing my dog to receive her medication without notice! I will not be taking my pet(s) to this Vet clinic, and I will also not be referring this Vet clinic to friends or family. "Buyer beware". My dog is on 16MG of Apoquel, once daily if needed. 0 Stars if I could.
Great service
The staff there are very helpful and friendly to my cat Orion. They helped us out perfectly and gave us alot of instructions on how to get Orion back to health and he now is doing great and back to his usual self. I highly recommend anyone to bring their pets here. I for sure will be bringing Orion here for his health needs. Thank you from Orion and I. We appreciate everything you've done for him.
The staff was very friendly and helpful my friend had to take her cat in for tests. Price wasn't bad and my dog always seems happy when we go inside.
Very disappointed in King Hopkins Pet Hospital. We have been clients for 3 years with all our animals. My 80 year old mother has a 10 year old diabetic dog who was being treated here. Vet food and insulin and glucose monitoring; all very expensive especially for an elderly client. My mother had to space out glucose monitoring due to cost at $200 + per appt. twice per month. Her last check was Feb and she was requested to bring in her dog in another 2 weeks. We tried for a weekend appt. but were told they were too busy and to contact when we could change our schedule. I called today to refill her dog's insulin and because My mom couldn't afford the glucose monitoring right now they refused to reorder the insulin. Vet called back and informed my elderly mother that not only she wasn't going to order the insulin but also didn't want her as a client anymore! So, King Hopkins Hospital has given my mother's dog a death sentence. How shocking and cold hearted. My mother is devastated and now her poor dog is going to suffer. What kind of vet does this?? Be wary for this hospital will turn their back on you if you don't show them the money!! I am still in shock.
King Hopkins has been taking care of my animals for a while now, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. From urgent needs to regular checkups, my cats are in good hands with the staff. When one of my cats had some minor complications post-surgery, each staff member who saw him was wonderfully caring, and made me feel at ease every step of the way. I cannot recommend them enough.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I will be coming back.
They work late (so it was extremely convenient). They were courteous, knowledgeable and very gentle with my pet. I'd definitely recommend King Hopkins to anyone looking for a great vet hospital to go to!
All the vets I've seen there have been amazing and kind. Yesterday and today were no exceptions. Thank you Dr. Tamara for taking the extra time with me today to go over my cat's medication and treatment.
Very good nice friendly.
The vets and techs here are very professional and friendly. They take their time to explain any procedures and answer any questions.
One of my best friends used this vet for her cat for a simple spayed. She was estimated for $370 for spayed and they paid approximately. $500 for the procedure. They stated ‘its was just an estimate’ and when asked about what cost more she was told “we can’t tell you’ I find this hard to believe tbh. And I’m disgusted by this practice. My dog (who I love) if she was sick I would not bring her here. And I do not recommend this place to my grandmother for her elder cat because clearly you can not keep a consistency with customers. Some say ur amazing and kind and others not. U need consistency I understand (I’m a nurse) that health care is hard and isn’t easy but come on. If your being praised for healing a sore paw good for you but if you’re being told your service and communication w patients and family skills are poor and ur overall competence is poor. THERES a issue. Please. I’m warning u all. Don’t go here
Had to put my dog down here. Everyone was very kind and sympathetic
Super knowledgable staff that helped us for an overnight emergency. Didn't upsell anything and explained everything we had questions about. Couldn't have asked for better service. Will be inquiring to make them my permanent vet.
We do not live in the area, this clinic isn’t our veterinarian. We took our pup there as he was near the end of life and our vet was closed. There is nothing worse than having to put your pet to sleep, heart breaking. Our experience at this clinic was exceptional, they make the experience somewhat easier. They were so kind and caring. I highly recommend this place.
NEVER BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE if you have an emergency. The vet was absolutely useless when I brought my cat here having seizures. I wasted 45 min here and barely made it to a real clinic without my little one dying. Just because they're open late does not mean they're capable!
Our first visit, we were scheduled in with short notice, which is great! Unfortunately, Dr Medhat was very aggressive with our senior cat, despite knowing her age and size (only 3lbs, petite kitty) Our cat visits the vets regularly, has never been handled like this.. yanking chin fur down to open mouth, squeezing head and neck for stability. Yikes! We were grateful for a quick appointment for the acute respiratory infection & antibiotics, but not impressed with the lack of care and compassion for the elder pet.
The staff was very supportive calling us with updates, answering our questions & keeping us informed. With the wonderful care at King Hopkins Storme has made a full recovery & is a lively healthy girl.
They are amazing and treat my baby like he's my child, with so much love.
This hospital is so unbelievable It all started when they put my Dog down to die she was I'll Than they cremated her and we were waiting to pick her up And someone else took her home It was so heartbreaking Knowing that this place that you expected them to help you and be on your side. Actually gave my dog to someone else. Than we get her and bring her home. And than 3 months later the writing on her urn fades away So I go back to have them to replace the urn Which they did BUT.... NEVER called me or emailed me to the urn when it came back from the other company that cremated her These people are soooo unorganized and i don't think I would RECOMMEND anyone to go there
Brought my senior dog in with kidney failure symptoms. Vet listened to us and reassured that we were making the right decision Staff very friendly and attentive No over the top costs and our Charlie was treated with respect.
I’m very upset about the service I received the other night, at this clinic. The vet talked more about money then what was actually wrong with my cat. After paying 960$ I still had no answers to what was wrong, and it was clear they care more about the money then the animals. They did tests that were inconclusive, and yet still made me pay. It was a complete waste of money and time. It’s sad to see someone in this position care more about the money then the animals. Why would you even become a vet? I won’t be coming back, and no one else that I know will either.
Excellent service and very caring staff.
Dr. Young was outstanding, caring and thorough, not rushed, explained things well. King Hopkins staff were not only responsive they were kind and professional. Dr. Young, my gosh so sweet! It's beyond stressful when something happens to your furry baby, and the King Hopkins Team was fantastic at taking care of our fur baby. Thank you for making Zeus feel better. ????????❣ I have had nothing but positive experiences here every time. Dr. Young is amazing she goes above an beyond. I would highly recommend them. As Dr. Young said Zeus what a sweet boy After being sedated he was a little whoopsie all night, but we were so glad he was in good hands.
No complaints here. Thanks
Tried to charge me for examination fee when the doctor didn't even examine my dog.
Just went to pick up some dog food. Very friendly, speedy service, good prices.
Just Google their poor work ethics. No star.
Thus place was very professional and yet they were very intimate with us during our hard time putting one of our cats down!! These people have good hearts for what they do.. Thank you so much!!
We called at 9am and we had an appt for 11:30. The staff were very professional and friendly they diagnosed my dog and gave us drops for her eyes. The gentleman that brougjt her out to us was very friendly and I would recommend this vet to anyone. Prices are very reasonable . Thank you for the great care and treatment.
We took our guinea pig in around midnight when we noticed she wasn’t acting right. The staff here were so beyond amazing. Our girl was seen by Dr Black who was so helpful and the receptionist (Alison/Alicia? Sorry it was so late lol) was so reassuring and kind. The prices weren’t high and they even threw in a free critical care. Cannot recommend enough.
Nice Staff! Clean and cute facility! I took my cat Leo in a emergency and We were welcomed and treated asap. Since the beginning I felt Leo was in safe hands and I had peace of mind.
They are friendly. They send you reminders for your pet and take care of them well.
We take all 3 of our dogs here, on our last visit we had concerns about spots appearing on our senior dog. We called to make an appointment they advised us of the price for an examination and booked us in immediately. Upon arrival we noticed they have a very efficient Covid plan in place to minimize exposure. After examining our dog the veterinarian informed us it was just old age spots and didn't charge us for the visit.
Great place to take animals they are very kind and sweet there
24 hour emergency care, they took careful care of our pet cockatiel late Saturday evening.
Amazing, caring staff. They saved our cat over the christmas holidays. I will be switching vets.
We had to go there tonight unfortunately with our pup who fell down our stairs and started to show seizure activity. I was in a total panic and rushed him into king Hopkins. They saw him right away, gave him the appropriate medication an updated us immediately on his condition. Thankfully our guy is ok and home sleeping with us now. Thank you to all the amazing staff there who responded so quickly and the amazing doctor's who have an extremely hard job. You guys are the best ❤️
Nice way to treat animals.
Great vet. Compassionate. Good servicr
Everyone was so nice and seemed to genuinely care about my cat and how they could help her. They also called twice in as many days to see how she was doing. This is a great place to take your furchildren when they are sick or injured.
I have only used them for emergencies but was very impressed with the staff and the care and love they give. I will probably start taking my dog there for all of her care.
There is no one who I would want more than King Hopkins to care for my pets. We had to make that horrible decision of putting our baby to sleep. My teenage son was not handling well. Dr. Black slipped a $20 bill in his pocket for a Dairy Queen visit. The best vet in town!
They take good care of my kitties
Great customer service
It's where I bring my own pets now as they have the best staff around the girls are always so kind!
They take really good care of their clients and their humans
Wonderful and friendly staff that show they really care about your pet and your concerns. The night vet we saw was just so pleasant. I love that they offer regular fees instead of emerg fees for 24 hour service. Will definitely return
I had to wait until a few months have passed since our horrible experience with Sasha Black. I was too livid. This clinic runs unnecessary tests and takes advantage of owners, especially those who are there for an after hours appointment. After bloodwork, We were told our dog (who’d just had an extremely long epileptic seizure) had kidney disease and an infection (despite no signs of one) ...all based on slightly elevated levels. $600 later we left with a liver supplement ($100) that was pushed on us along with antibiotics. Our regular vet called as soon as they got the results and said the elevated results were no doubt from the long seizure. We were told king Hopkins does this a lot. AVOID this place at all cost. Our dog is 100% fine by the way....
My first time going, I had a long wait between seeing the assistant and vet, but it was okay as vet explained that he was with a family who was struggling with the decision that they may need to put their dog to sleep. The vet spent plenty of time talking with me, answering questions, and explaining needs for my kittens. My second visit was much faster, and continued to be a great experience. Everyone is friendly and really knowledgeable.
We had to take our Pup there for an emergency last week. Our call was answered immediately and we were able to take our pup right in to see the Dr. Dr Black and her staff were amazing, kind and very helpful. We are new to the area, so we will definitely be taking our pup back to King Hopkins for all his puppy needs. Thanks for all the help! Laura & Anthony
good hospital for pets, friendly knowledgeable staff
Wow!!!! Thats all I have to say this veterinarian is amazing we saw Dr Brown late lastnight as my poor kitty isn't well and my own vet didn't do what tests they did lastnight they took such good care of my girl and were so professional and could tell they cared for the animals I 100 percent recommend this place !!! Thank you thank you for seeing my girl in the middle of the night !!!
I had a TERRIBLE experience at King Hopkins Vet Hospital today. I took my dog in to have a tick removed that was embedded in his groin area. I was taken into a room that had just been used to see another dog and was NOT cleaned. The vet entered and did not introduce himself, nor did he ask what my dog’s name was (or anything else for that matter). I showed the vet the tick and he proceeded to tell me “that’s not a tick.” I calmly showed him the body and wiggling legs clearly sticking out (my dog is a Vizsla and does not have fur in that area) and he awkwardly tried to remove it. He quickly gave up, telling me that he needed help. He brought in a very nice technician, but wouldn’t let her do anything and announced that he “couldn’t see” and “needed a light.” I had to pass the technician my iPhone (!) at the same time that I was helping to hold my dog ! The vet had NO idea how to remove the tick, and pinched my dog’s skin so hard that he bruised him. Eventually he left to find a second technician to “help” but didn’t let him touch my dog and kept getting in the way and interrupting his suggestions. I finally had to insist that the vet let the technician remove the tick, and after half an hour (!) he eventually agreed. The technician removed the tick without any trouble (once the vet moved out of the way !) and left the room. When I then showed the vet a picture on my phone of three other ticks I’d removed off my dog today (that were only crawling through his fur), and asked which type had just been removed he said “I have no idea, I don’t have my glasses on.” This from the vet who was just trying to remove a tick from my dog for over half an hour ! To make things worse I was then charged $85 for “examination and consultation” ! The vet did not ask me a single question, did not speak to me about a single thing (he didn’t even ask “is your dog on tick meds”) and had NO idea what he was doing ! All he did was try to tell me it WASN’T a tick on my dog and then went off to get “help” from technicians ! I would NEVER recommend this clinic to anyone. I am more than frustrated and annoyed.
Made an appointment. Arrived not available made to wait a ridiculous amount of time. No phone call to let me know they would not honor there appointment. Made me late for work because I could not have my sick cat see the doctor.
Absolutely disgusted with how my dogs surgery was handled had to take my 6 month puppy back for restitches on a dewclaw removal and she was taken in at night and an hour later I get the call to come get her, and I go and they bring her into the room and she is still out from the sedation they made me wait in the room for an hour and she was still out they were then like do you have someone at home to help carry her (cause she is heavy) and I said yes to which they took her to my car still passed out. Brought her home and she was peeing and pooing everywhere uncontrollable as she was walking around wobbling not knowing where she is because she was so out of it. Could not believe they sent her home I was told by another vet that they are not allowed to send a pet home until it has fully woken and they have monitored them to make sure they are okay. Would give a zero star! Never going here again
Our puppy (15 weeks) vomited his food, and continued to retch and vomit. He eventually stopped. He was listless and would not try to eat and had to be coaxed to drink. We got a 9:30 pm appointment quickly, within 1 1/2 hour of calling. About 15 minutes before our appt, he seemed to snap out of whatever it was. We kept the appt. The staff was great, friendly and professional. The vet on duty checked him over and gave me options. We had a regular vet appt the next day, so we took a prescription and brought him home. That morning my vet office called to check On our puppy, as they had received a complete correspondence from King Hopkins on the examination, possible causes, and prescription applied. Great service!
On two different occasions two of my dogs had emergencies in the middle of night and they were seen quickly both occasions. Doctors were outstanding, caring and thorough, not rushed, explained things well. As a family physician in Whitby for 30 years I was extremely impressed with their knowledge and abilities. I am so grateful for their help.
Best pet hospital in Durham, open 24/7 and the only hospital I have found that actually answers the phones!!! if you’re dealing with reception talk to Mary she is always very knowledgeable
Wonderful care at very reasonable prices!! We just picked up our goldendoodle who we brought to this clinic two nights ago - at 3:00 AM - with acute pancreatitis. Dr. Black and her assistant Karla were very compassionate, confident and efficient. Throughout the day yesterday Dr. Williams kept us informed of Ricky's progress and tried a number of alternative treatments to avoid surgery. My wife and I will not hesitate to return to this clinic as regular clients and have already begun recommending it to our friends. Thank you so much!! Steve and Cheryl.
We brought our dog in for emergency care in the middle of the night. We were seen immediately, the Dr explained everything clearly and answered all our questions. The Dr. And staff were so kind and helpful. The clinic was very clean. We were very happy with our experience.
Both my dogs managed to get sprayed by a skunk at 11 pm on a Friday night. The closest 24 vet open. The young lady who served me was very helpful and super nice. For all those reading this I also noticed that they see all animals so this is a great place to keep in mind for any pet owner open 24/7
It was extremely slow but they are really nice people and care greatly for the animals
Great doctors
I brought my cat in for a general check up because she had been through a very traumatic experience with another vet office. I explained to Hopkins on the phone what had happened and they got me in as soon as possible (the day after I made the call). They were extremely honest, and explained things in a way ANYONE could understand. They were quick and very very polite. They weren't pushy, they didn't judge, and they answered any questions I had (even if I had already asked them). All in all a great experience. My cat and myself were extremely calm and felt great after leaving.
DISGUSTED!!!!!!!! Yesterday mine and my boyfriend's puppy was sick early in the morning before our usual vet opened. He was vomiting water and grass and pooping excessively and there was a little bit of blood which was concerning us. When we brought him to the clinic the vet told us that he was going to do a bunch of tests for a disease that he thought caused the illness. The illness he was testing for was highly unlikely for our dog to get because he was already up to date on all his vaccines. The vet tried taking him downstairs to the room that they do the work in and my boyfriend and I had to guide our puppy downstairs. THAT PLACE IS DISGUSTING!!!! There was an open jar of used needles at nose height accessibility to my puppy luckily my boyfriend pulled him away from the needles and at that time my boyfriend and I were asked to wait upstairs. The vet came and told us that our puppy needed to be hospitalized because he was so sick. HOSPITALIZED!!!!! We asked further questions and the vet told me at one point that my puppy threw up downstairs and when I asked again "So he was sick downstairs" then he said no. We asked how he got sick, the vet couldnt give us an answer other than "the weather" and "human food" TO WHICH WE KEEP HIM STRICTLY AWAY FROM! We had a bad gut feeling and sent the blood results to our normal vet since they were open and get this THEY SAID HES PERFECTLY FINE AND CAN GO HOME!!!! FUNNY ENOUGH THIS VET WANTED TO HOSPITALIZE MY PUPPY AND GIVE HIM SUCH STRONG MEDICATION THAT HE WOULD NEED PAIN MEDICATION TO HELP DEAL WITH HIS SICKNESS. WHAT A JOKE! then he tried to overcharge us. When we told him he was a scam artist and that were not stupid he gave us a refund for the additional fee he added on. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET IF YOU LOVE YOUR FUR BABIES!
I called this clinic to book a euthanasia for my 13 year old dog. With that first being said, booking as a first time client at a clinic for this purpose isn't easy when you are used to a specific veterinarian. I booked this being open-minded, knowing I was doing the right thing for my poor old soul. I was taken right into a room upon arriving, the receptionist was great. Myself and my boyfriend were both in tears, this wasn't an easy decision. We sobbed waiting for the vet to come in. Once he came in, I felt like he didn't believe any of my concerns. My dog was disoriented, not eating that AM for the first time and extremely lethargic.. He also won't walk or get up anymore at home. His quality of life was suffering. I told him he had a softball size mass in the stomach area that was viewed on x-ray this week, as well as osteosarcoma mass on his foot which was extremely visible and was also growing as a rapid pace. I told him I work for another Animal organization locally, so this decision wasn't made lightly. I made mention of all the meds he was prescribed this week by his regular veternarian. This vet asked me if I was familiar with the procedure, which I was. He made comment about aftercare - I told him I had that taken care of already. As he was leaving the room, he asked what vet I usually use...I told him, and also said they were closed which is why I attended this clinic trusting in the process. He said he would be right back. He left the room for several minutes only to come back and say.... "Would you be willing to do a work up here? I told him no, I already know what is wrong with him...why would I have to do a second workup? I've given you all the specifics." With that he said; "Sorry I can't euthanize your dog as your regular vet is closed today, but I can give you 3 other numbers who may be able to help you....." This decision wasn't made lightly to ask for this procedure. To prepare yourself emotionally for something like this was one of the hardest things and I am absolutely heart broken over this experience only to now have to drive around on a Sunday looking for assistance from another Veterinarian. I'm so disappointed....
They took very good care of our puppy. Answered all of our questions and explained everything that they were doing. They followed up after our visit, took our calls and gave us advice regarding administering meds. I sent them the insurance paperwork a week or 2 after our visit which they acknowledged receiving immediately and completed and returned it the same day. I can't speak on their prices as this was our first emergency with our puppy. I was just happy that I found somewhat that could accommodate us. Having pet insurance helps. Everybody's experience is different but I had top notch service and will be back for non-emergency visits.
Very nice, took the time to look over my mouse at 1 in the morning, and she probably wouldn't be around today without them.
They were very compassionate when my cat died. It made the experience easier.
Great, friendly, caring service. Dr. Black was very thorough and good with our dog. Dr. Black took the time to explain everything to us and help make our dog and us feel comfortable. We were able to get an appointment the same day. Very happy we went here. Thank you.
I haven't taken my pets anywhere else in 8 years. I am delighted with this Vet service.
My dog became ill, I called everywhere looking for an emergency clinic to take her. No one would take her for 10-11 hrs as far a radius as all of Toronto, Simcoe and York. She was so sick and King Hopkins were not only responsive they were kind and professional. Every step of the way they helped me understand. Amazing experience and my girl is good.
Phenomenal attentive care encompassed in a team atmosphere.
Friendly staff. Best doctors and open 247
Had to take my epileptic dog here in an emergency state. Unfortunately the staff were unable to save him. The staff were great to deal with and showed that they cared and were very empathetic afterwards. I was able to witness 4 people trying to save him, which shows how hard they tried. However, when I went to pick up his urn and ink paw prints, the paw prints were not in the bag. I called when I got home and realized but had to wait a few days until a manager was in for me to speak too about picking up the prints. I was then told the prints would be mailed to me, rather then me easily pick them up. It has now been over two months since I lost my baby, and his paw prints have still never come in. I have called many times, but each time all’s I am told is that “there is a note stating they were sent”. I have been told there’s nothing they can do and now I will never have my baby’s paw prints, something that is so important to me that I can never get back. I’m not convinced they were ever done and sent and I am absolutely devastated. Please make sure you receive your pets paw prints with the urn if you chose this option. It would’ve meant the world to me.
It took a while to be seen because there were some emergencies. The vet apologized and gave me the exam for free! Always pleasant and helpful.
They are the nicest vet I've ever been to. Thank you do much for what u did for my family during this rough time.
Amazing clinic!! A vet clinic with a huge heart. Always helpful and very caring, especially when they have to deliver the bad news.
The whole team is just awesome! Take your pets there they will be treated Lake they own them their selves!
Always helpful...good care
I love everything about King Hopkins. Everyone has so much compassion for Thumper as well as my beloved Charity. I won't take my pets anywhere else.
Couldn’t ask for better care during a pandemic.
The price l was told was 100 more then agreed upon !
This is a great place to take your animal. Would highly recommend it.
Compassionate and extremely throughly professional Baxter was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 19 months ago. The vets treated him with medications and were always so kind and tentative on his visits .Over the past few months Baxter started to fail and last Monday night it was time to say goodbye. Thank you so much for helping me get through saying goodbye to him in such a respectful calming loving way. Everyone on the team at King Hopkins Pet Hospital are wonderful. Thank you for your care over the years
They are extremely knowledgeable and caring about your pets. I finally found a pet vet that can take care of my rabbits ????
Although, I think the staff are exceptional at what they do and are attempting to give the best service possible, I feel that the office is mismanaged. This issue is likely do to the one person who’s in charge of policies and staff direction. Unfortunately customers are vulnerable when their pets are in need therefore subject to the situation as it is. This is a constructive review and to be clear, I have had only positive interaction with the staff and I’m very appreciative, but one should never have to wait an hour and a half to refill a prescription, especially when one has been notified that the prescription is ready.
Well so far they helped us with our dog. Will have to see in the morning how she is! I didnt feel comfortable with our dog only going in this covid thing is to much!!
I came rushing in Thursday morning at 6am I'm not going to go into details bc it's traumatizing but my little teacup chihuahua had practically died in my arms I rushed there and they saved her life!! Money isn't and endless thing for me they took her in immediately and then went over pricing so there would be no surprises and they don't gouge at all!! They don't even charge an emergency fee for rushing in which usually runs around 200.00!! They are there all hours of the night answering my millions of calls over the next couple days... They did everything perfectly and even got an ultrasound technician to come to them for half the price to do an echo on her heart!! I owe them everything they're so caring and sweet... THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.. Brittny Blain and Lola the chihuahua
This review is long overdue. Our first experience was a few months ago when our elderly cat fell ill & needed to be put down. Dr.Black was very professional & helped to make the sad situation a little easier to deal with (her big hug meant a lot). In March my mother brought in her very sick 9 week old kitten. Throughout her stay at King Hopkins, the staff was very supportive calling us with updates, answering our questions & keeping us informed. With the wonderful care at King Hopkins Storme has made a full recovery & is a lively healthy girl. My mother has been back several times with Storme for check ups & continues to receive exceptional care.
They were compassionate, quick and knowledgeable when our dog was terminally ill.
Excellent service and very knowledgeable staff..
I took my cat Liam into the Pet Hospital last night. They were nothing but kind and compassionate. The vet on call last night, treated us so nicely and helped us make the difficult decision to put our Liam to sleep. People always remember how you make them feel and they made us feel important and that Liam was in good hands. Thank you King Hopkins pet hospital for giving us the opportunity to say goodbye to one of our family's pets in the most kind and respectful way - The Penedos
Very kind, accommodating, and answers questions.
Disorganized, no parking, too many people around. Overcharged. Will never go back.
I had an appointment that they had actually called me for to booked the appointment, they called me on Thursday and booked me in for Sunday. I have rearranged my entire day to take my pregnant dog in who is due in like 2 weeks max. Today was appointment day and they just called and cancelled me and the staff member named Mary was very cold and not concerned about the unprofessional behaviour that they were conducting there self in I do not recommend this place as they are not very reliable.
Vet was awesome.
Excellent with my little lady and treated her with total respect. Thanks for everything.
The workers here are absolutely incredible. Very helpful. But the pricing fluctuates in a way that is unacceptable. Every time I'm given a price it goes up when it's time to pay. My cat was very sick and fearing the worst I asked for their pricing on putting an animal down and I was quoted roughly $200 which is fine. I called again because my cat did indeed get so bad she needed to be put down to get a solid price and it was now $446 more than double the original price. While the service here is prompt and kind if you live on a budget I have to say Do Not go here.
Have had to bring my dachshound and my poodle in over the last month 2 separate occasions and have been amazing both times
Handled my dogs with respect and care; I've had bad experiences with other vets that I thought stressed the dogs out too much. They are always very kind and considerate.
Our first experience was a few months ago when our elderly cat fell ill & needed to be put down. Perfect to me.
Everyone there is super nice! I would highly recommend!
Fantastic service very polite and professional. My new vet!
Definitely 5 star service. We were referred to this Pet Hospital with our cat that needed some attention and they were so accommodating and amazing. He was so calm for them and its only been two days and he's already doing much better. Excellent from start to finish!
I have been dealing with King Hopkins Pet Hospital for over 2 weeks now and i must say they have truly been amazing and truly care about my moms dog Missy they have worked with me to make sure she gets the best care possible I highly recommend this Vet Service Thank you for taking care Missy
Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Great experience.
I took my two cats here for almost 6 years. I was always very impressed and happy with the care and attention we received. When my cat Ryan got sick and passed last year, the staff was incredibly kind and supportive and it meant the world to me. I highly recommend them. If I hadn't moved to another city, I would still be a customer. Keep up the great work!
Great animal hospital, the staff are very friendly and responsive.
I have taken my pets here in the past and the experience is usually very positive, however my last experience was not good and I will not be taking my pets here again. When I first called in the morning to book an appointment for my dog to be examined for a third time regarding a lesion on her leg, I was met with hostility. After I said "good morning, how are you?" to the attendant, i received the response "busy". Very cold and unwelcoming, however i decided to book the appointment any way. My dog is 14 years old, and had a very bad lesion on her leg for 3 months. The last time I had her in there, they told me to give her antibiotics and see if it went away, it did not. During her "examination" they told us that surgery was needed to repair the lesion, however she must do blood work first. When I started to ask questions, such as what exactly is the blood work for, what type of quality of life will she have, and is there a risk to having an older dog having such an evasive surgery? All my questions were met with a tad of hostility. The vet told me she would be fine after surgery, and I replied "awesome, so she will be good and back to her old self afterwards?" she replied "well no, i can't guarantee that". She also told me there was no elevated risk to getting surgery on an older animal. When I pressed the issue and said that i have heard very different, her story changed to "well it is like a human, the older they are the harder the surgery is on their bodies". It just seems like every time I questioned anything i got a different response. It very much felt to me like they were just looking to get maximum dollars out of me without taking my dogs feelings or well being into mind. The last thing I ever want is for my beautiful girl to be in pain, and they told me even with surgery she may have to be on pain meds the rest of her life. Just be cautious when booking here, I find a very deep lack of compassion for this place, the vet was very cold.
GREAT SERVICE!! King Hopkins Pet Hospital strives to offer nothing but the best for your pets! We had to bring our 1year old Pomchi in this morning, we where so worried and the staff went out of their way to not only make sure our little guy was happy and comfortable but to ensure that we were the same. They took the time to hear our concerns and really cares for our boy. The vet built an instant bond with our dog and you could really see her passion and love for aminals! This was not our regular vet, however, we where so blown away that we called our current vet to have both of our dogs files transferred over! I am so happy to say that we are apart of the King Hopkins Pet Hospital family! I would recommend this vet to any pet owner! I promise you will not be disappointed!
RAMBO I’m sure you guys remember him I just want to say the doctors the staff everyone was amazing I brought rambo here as it was an emergency and my vet was closed until 830 am which btw I will never be going back to my old vet they couldn’t even return my call 8 times I won’t name the hospital go every KING HOPKINS IS THE BEST HOSPITAL EVER I WILL ONLY BE COMING HERE and i tell everyone who is reading this to switch to this hospital you will Thank me later Rambo is a 4 month American bully pocket Thanks again special thanks to all three doctors on duty and the front line staff you have made me the happiest person I got to bring my dog home
Such great staff! During a difficult time of having to put our 16 year old dog down and later at night they were so kind! They were understanding and didn't pressure us to make us feel like we were doing the wrong thing. They trusted our judgement and made the situation as easy as it could possibly be. The best part has to be that they treat you like people and talk to you like a person as well! We honestly can't thank them enough for everything!
We recently brought home a new puppy and chose this vet as it was very close to home and convenient. Every time you go you see a different vet. I recently brought our 5 month old girl in for a suspected UTI. The vet that I had was very patronizing and spoke to me (a young blonde) as if I had no experience with animals and was unintelligent. I insisted that she have her urine tested despite his assurance that she was "just being a puppy". He told me they were "going for a walk" to collect the urine sample. When she returned I noticed she was damp and smelled of antiseptic, and they informed me that she did in fact have a UTI like I suspected. Upon examining my bill at home I noticed a procedure had been performed on her to extract the urine from her bladder. This was done without my knowledge and consent and I was never informed that it had been done despite also being charged for it. I returned to the office the following day to confirm whether or not the test had been done and to stress the importance of informing pet parents of what exactly is being done to their animals. Had I not noticed the smell and examined my bill I would have no idea to look for potential irritation or infection around the injection site. As a result of my visit I have cancelled all upcoming appointments at this hospital and will not be returning. I no longer feel comfortable having my puppy cared for there as I do not trust what will be done to her without me knowing.
Took my sick dog in for a simple xray to come back later to my little guy dead, truly disgusting
I brought my pup Ursula there for the first time, and I have to say that my experience was absolutely amazing. The vet was very thorough with her examination, very informative and knowledgeable. They were very helpful and understanding of my financial situation. I have to give a major thank you to Mary that works there, she was so amazing with my dog, she came out and took time with her (as my dog is very hesitant with new people), stayed with her the entire time while she was inside and made sure she was never alone and in good care. She was definitely an angel today and my dog and I thank Mary SOOO much. Very pleased with the customer service and highly recommend.
People there are very accommodating. First class facility
Went there at 2 am and the service was excellent. They immediately attended to my rabbit. They were very friendly and did their best to help. Highly recommended!
We took our 15 week old Boxer to this clinic on a Sunday evening as I had seen that they offer a 24/7 schedule. Our pup was limping so we took her in and the vet took her temperature in her ear. The thermometer he used was very dirty with the inside portion caked with some dark brown stuff...ewww. He proceed to do xrays and comes in with his cell to show us the images advising us that our puppy has 2 fractures and needs to be taken to TVEH for 7am for immediate surgery. Devastated I ask if he can write down what he is telling us as we are totally upset (how could this have happened) He says "no he doesn't have time, he has other appointments" .....So your trying to tell me my dog hasa fracture and you can not provide me with a couple notes so I can process. We take her home to rest for the night and get a call back to come in and have the other shoulder looked at. He proceeds to revise his first diagnosis of 2 fractures to her left shoulder to nope just the growth plates because the right and left are the same. He says they do not see many 15 week old puppies in the clinic so he was so sorry he miss diagnosed!! My understanding is he should have never tried to interrupt the xrays in the first place. So I requested they be sent of to a radiologist and going forward we will deal with our own vet and the specialist. My overall take on King Hopkins vet clinic is that I will not ever go back, I question their cleanliness and sanitation procedures and why are they diagnosing my pet based on an xray they should not be interpreting in the first place!! For the well being and sake of your pet please go elsewhere.
I took my dog there for her first vet visit and she had an adverse reaction to a vaccine. The tech and vet acted very quickly and were able to get her back to her normal self. Any pet that goes there is in great hands. I highly recommend.
Great staff. The best place to go for an emergency. They do not charge an emergency fee at all!
Always a great experience, super friendly and caring staff
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Had no issues whatsoever, and they took very good care of my cat when I had to bring him in. Would absolutely recommend.
Friendly staff. Took great care of our dog. Will gladly come back again.
Our sweet furbaby cat Princess started to rapidly loose weight,I called the King Hopkins vet at 3 on a sunday and was welcomed with an appointment at 530 the same day,, the examination done on our sweet baby was thorough , kind and compassionate, I would strongly recommend this clinic to anyone who wants a kind and caring veternarian for their pets,,we did loose our baby today but the staff and kindness made her transition to rainbow bridge so much easier for all of us. thanks the Beasley family
This clinic was very helpful and quick with our process. I found them 24/7 online and called them. They booked us right away and dealt with all of our arrangements fast and sufficient. Thank You!
Compassionate staff and Dr Williams is wonderful.
Every experience I have had here has been excellent. Dr. Black and Dr. Campbell are caring and compassionate. I would recommend them to everyone.
Dr. Black is hands down the most professional and compassionate veterinarian. I rushed our 14 yr old Chihuahua, Lola, to the emergency for acute blood vomit and blood diarrhea. We weren’t sure if she was going to make it. Now 4 weeks later, Lola is doing great and even plays with our 1 yr old Yorkie. Dr. Black went above and beyond and we are forever grateful for her.
Had to take a pet in to be put down after a battle with cancer. Staff were very kind and courteous during this difficult time, allowing us to be with our pet throughout the process, at a time when many other vets were not allowing it
The staff here are so caring and wonderful. They are open 24-7 but do not charge emergency fees. We recommend for your fur family.
They are coping well with the pandemic measure; they took prompt care of my little guinea pig. And the assistant was very nice
Nice clean facility. Super nice employees. Dr. was outstanding. She took the time to answer all my questions and even called me at home personally to follow up on my pet. Prices are super reasonable too. No complaints here.
Expensive
Very hostile environment. Especially between the employees. I dont recommend this place if you are ever stressed or worried about your pet. They dont have a attitude towards their job or customers. The vet is the only one who speaks with some form of kindness.
They were great tonight with my dog.
The people in this place treated us so well drspite them being so busy at 10pm.
Very fast service. Friendly staff. Prices reasonable for an emerg vet. I actually changed my dog to have this vet now for everything
Awesome care provider for my pets I highly recommend!
What can I say about these great vets they saved my cats life and has had no complications since!
Very sweet, kind and gentle. They are super affordable and so incredibly sweet.
horrible they are open 24/7 and then when you go to call then in an emergency they turn you away
I have been taking all of my pets to King Hopkins for many years now. I am always pleased with the care they give my pets. I’m lucky to have such a great veterinarian hospital in my neighborhood!
Best ever great all around
Dr. Black is the best! So helpful and empathetic. We're so happy to say that our puppy of three months has made it through the night and is doing great, breathing, and trying to move already
So far I have been here twice both with the same dog. We have had 2 separate Vets see our oldest one (hard to see someone consistent when it's an emergency). Every single staff member has been amazing with all of us. They play and make the dogs feels welcome, made me feel comfortable even offered to call when they had finished some tests if I wanted to leave and come back. I have no idea pricing wise how they compare to other places but when my dog seems happy to go inside and see a vet I don't know why I would want to try elsewhere.
Thank you so much today and fitting my little Notorious (Guinea Pig) in your busy schedule. The customer service was amazing. ???? Happy New Years
Great place. Great staff
Amazing customer service, Dr. Black made me feel completely comfortable with my dog being in her care during the covid-19 pandemic in which no one was allowed inside.
The vets and techs were fine as emergency service but really expensive and no flexibility for seniors.
Our small dog seemed to be injured so we rushed over at 7am on a Sunday. We were seen immediately and to our good luck our dog was fine. The vet was kind and attentive. She explained what might have happened and what to look for. Contrary to some previous posts there was no pressure to do any testing and recommended not to unless the symptoms reoccurred. The cost of the examination and consultation was very reasonable and we will be glad to return if we need to have our dog seen again.
All ways look out for dog
The whole staff made us feel at home. My wife and I just moved to durham Durban and have definitely found our new vet. I strongly recommend this business.
Very nice and helpful! Just visited for my first appointment with my newly adopted cats and they were very welcoming!
A professional, kind, and attentive staff from the receptionists to the doctors. Clean and inviting facility. The care they provided to my ten year old cat, Crystal, was excellent and has yielded positive results.
The staff is friendly & knowledgable, great prices.
My cat Bardock got very sick recently and the vets there saw him with no appointment, even though I'd never been there before. They gave him exactly what he needed, and he is back to his old self!
Disapointed - after having our dog spayed, no one called to see how we where doing, if there were any complications or concerns. (My old vet called us the next day after only giving the dog a shot.) We had to call several times the day of the surgery for an update or to see what time we had to pick up her. (they were supposed to call us but never did, and couldn't even return our messages). They also quoted us several different prices whenever we called none were the same price ever. And lastly, during the first exam we were told they were going to remove baby teeth during the spaying operation, but when we picked her up, no baby teeth were removed. Our pets are our babies, our families. When we leave them in the care of others, we expect compassion and care for them as if they were their family too. I'm finding a new vet.
I’ve had two emergency experiences at this clinic. Sadly the first I was even able to be at but my good friend who was watching my little baby boy Austin rushed him here in the middle of the night. Unfortunately Austin didn’t make it, he was almost 15 years old and not well ( I knew it was coming but didn’t want it to be while I was so far away ) but they made sure he was well taken care of in his last hours. And very compassionate during the whole process. Second was my visit last night with my 6 month old Bernedoodle Finley who thought he should be the contents of our farmers market visit, which was a bunch of peaches and Plums, both highly dangerous for dogs. We called ahead and they were ready as soon as we arrived and were right on top of treating him to make sure they were able to get everything out. They did not push me for any extra treatments or even to come back to their clinic as a regular patient. But I will definitely be coming here from now on! Such a friendly calm atmosphere which is needed when stressing about your fur babies!
I was able to get an emergency appointment for my cat when my regular vet was booked up. He had an infection from a bite and we left quite healthy. Thanks a bunch!
Kept great care of my parents dog, prompt service and was well informed throughout the visit. I'm editing this post after the clinic in Whitby failed to give us all the medications. They made arrangements to have us pick up in Pickering which is closer to our home. No issues with that. However, we come to realize they still did not include all the medications, again arrangements were made to pick up in Pickering. After telling us they would contact them in the morning we arrived at Pickering to find they were unaware. After waiting for 35 mins for them to try and figure it out I still don't have the medications which were already paid for. Sick dog and a $700 bill, the last thing I need is to running around trying to get medications. Hoping this is an isolated incident as this is absurd.
Took my cat and they wanted to do surgury that would have cost 4000 dollars, to see if maybe there was something in her stomach, they werent sure if there was. we asked to try meds and take her home because we couldnt afford to pay 4000 dollars for a maybe. The vet insisted we do it, and kept coming back into the room trying to guilt me into doing the surgery, he was very pushy and very rude. I will never use this place again, I have never felt more pushed into anything, the worst part was he did all of this while having my cat, I felt held hostage in a vet. Worst experience ever
If your pet is in need of urgent care they r an excellent option Difficult to get appt with our regular Vet because of all the Covid pets One of the few clinics accepting appts even late in the evening. My dog was examined and meds prescribed. We r lucky to have a committed team available for our furballs. Thank you to all the staff who were great
Best vet that I have been to, very good for the prices! Dr. Black and her team are amazing, very friendly, and helpful.
To put it out of the way. They saved my cats life and I am forever grateful. In terms of the overall vet experience I'm knocking a star off. The service wasn't cheap, and could benefit from payment plans. And smaller things like a nicer recovery cone. Otherwise there were a couple minor hiccups along the way. Not sure about other days but the day I took my cat in they were quick, had x-rays provided to me within minutes and had my cat prepared for surgery immediately. Payment was asked for promptly, I did not care for how it was presented. I was in a panic and probably signed off on and paid for more than I needed to. However I was in an emergency and didn't want to haggle the only option available. So I bit the bullet. I say this to provide a transparent review. Too many people give 5 stars or one star which is unfair. The bottom line is. They have the ability to do great things, I wouldn't expect outright perfection out of the service and do expect a premium. but if it's the middle of the night and your pet is in an emergency you will be glad this little clinic is there! Thank you again!
We are lucky to a 24-7 clinic for our pets.
Amazing from the second we walked in the initial gentlemen at reception was very friendly and knowlegable. Thanks Man!
Dr Black is the Best! Saved my Gizimoe!
This animal hospital is very good for after hours/on weekends when other veterinary clinic are closed. The vet was helpful but does not seem as knowledged as our regular vet, at least. I suggest doing your due diligence before coming unless you want to pay for aimless tests to try and find out the problem. The service is extremely slow and unorganized
Came in for an emergency visit. Dr Black and Taylor were so gentle and caring with my 12 yr old morkie. I was pleased with the reasonable rates.
