I have taken my Husky in there for his shots and neutering. They are such a great staff and I would recommend them to anyone. A lot of people complain because my husky is a talker but they had nothing but good stuff to say about him.

Our older dog had a painful lump on her back leg. It showed up after play one November evening. I thought she'd pulled something, cruciate maybe. She moaned and cried all night. We made an apt with Riverside for the following day. The vet was friendly, took her into the back to do an xray and also an ultrasound. He came back into the room and said, I don't usually like to throw around the "C" word but I think it's cancer. We agreed to do a fine needle aspirate, put her on Terminol for her pain and wait for results. And we waited and waited. We took her in on a Sunday. We received the results Thursday. Most importantly, no-one could explain these results to us. It was mentioned that we may want to do another ultrasound so we made an apt. When I called to make this apt I was told only one vet did ultrasounds (? how did the first vet do one then). During this, our dogs symptoms changed. The swelling seemed to soften and move down her leg. So we started massage and ice and eventually it all but diapeared so we canceled the ultrasound apt. A few months later the lump came back. We treated it with Tremadol again and it eventually went down. Then in May it came back really big! We brought her in again to see a vet and saw a different one. This vet could offer no advise. She couldn't give us a clear indication of what we should do. This vet told us this was likely a mast cell growth in the muscle and that cutting off her leg would be the only real option. Our dog is older. She has arthritis in her front shoulders... I couldn't imagine her trying to recover from a rear leg amputation so we decided to do nothing but continue on Tremedol. In retrospect we should have had a biopsy done. A few days later we were back as our dog started to chatter her chin. The vet said is was most likely neurological and she was having seizures, possibly a reaction to the Tremidol. So we changed her medication. This turned out to be a hurt jaw caused when trying to give her a pill which she just didn't want to take. The vet told us to keep her on this medicine as well as Tremidol anyway so we did. Things seemed to settle again so we just kept on. Then it flared again. This time her leg swelled up significantly, softer, much like the first time. But the swelling didn't get better, it got worse. We stopped into the vet for more meds. I asked the vet what to do, what to watch for. She said if she changes her patterns, won't get up, won't eat... then we should think about euthanasia. For three days we waited and watched her suffer in so much pain. Convinced we could do nothing. On Sunday it was unbearable so we made our apt at the vet. When we arrived the receptionist was kind but asked repeatedly if we wanted to go through with this... were we sure (we were not but had trusted the last vet we'd seen). We decided to have the new vet do an exam before continuing on. The new vet we saw kindly came out to see our dog in our car. She examined her and said the soft swelling was most certainly an infection and could be treated with antibiotics. When we asked what next she confirmed that the leg would have to come off but that dogs did really well recovering from this. So we pressed her some more, what would she do? A question with no answer of course. She was in so much pain even before the soft swelling we decided it was best to let her go. The vet said ok and went to get the "stuff". The deed was done and as we drove away we felt awful. This vet put the idea in our heads that we'd made a mistake - of course now its too late. Could it have all been an infection? Did the vet think we were jumping the gun? Our full experience with this clinic left us with more questions than answers. The vets all seemed so non committal and didn't seem to offer any advise. I feel so awful and I would hope that anyone else who goes to this clinic gets the information they need.

Between a two star and a three star. The techs and assistants are always lovely people. They are considerate and polite. I find that they are the primary reason I keep coming back. The veterinarians are a hit at miss for their courtesy and professionalism. My most recent experiences with two male vets have been very poor. One vet was very rude to my father during an appointment for my one cat. She is overall healthy but has a skin sensitivity issue. That same vet called me later and told me that the only option was to euthanize her if I truly cared about her. B.S.! As I work in the same field I changed her to a sensitivity diet and put a cream I use on myself on her raw spots; she isn't itchy anymore and is much happier. The second time was with all three of my animals and my mother. This vet was afraid to touch one of my cats. She is a little spicy but if she is in close contact with her owners, she is much calmer. My mother informed the vet of this but he did not listen and instead proceeded to try touching her in which she went to swat at him. He ended up not doing the exam on my cat. Had he listened to my mother this situation could have been avoided. He was also unprofessional with the other two animals. I work in this field, and I haven't seen a vet like this yet and I do no recommend taking your animals to him. There is a lady vet who is always a pleasure to work with and is very helpful. I would see her again if/when I have to go back Reception is a hit or miss as well. Sometimes you get someone on the phone or person who is polite in their tone and other times you have someone who is rude to you.

This summer I had the most horrific experience in my life. My little Sheltie was attacked by a Great Pyrenees leaving him in critical condition. My friend rushed him and I into Kamloops and luckily this hospital was open. I could not have asked for better care. In my crazy hysterics the entire team took care of my little Gamble and were so kind to a crazy blonde girl balling. I can not thank them enough for what they did. That night a team of veterinarians performed magic and were able to stabilize my little guy so we could take him home the next day. Even writing this brings back all of the emotions of that traumatic event and I just want to thank all of you for saving my little guy. I also wanted to let you know that he is doing amazingly! And that friend of mine who brought me in that day ... her and I took him surfing for his first time inTofino ???? and he rocked it! Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. Needless to say if you are looking for amazing people to take care of your furry family member I highly recommend this animal hospital.

I absolutely love it here... they are so compassionate, loving and truly there to help both animal and human! I usually purchase my cat food here, but recently we also had to put our dog to sleep... they were so gentle, so caring and so compassionate through the whole process. They even came to the car to do it, plus allowed us time before and after to say a proper goodbye. They gently carried him away, arranged the cremation, sent sympathy cards and ink prints of his paws... I am truly grateful to the wonderful staff for their support during this difficult time! ???? We have never been let down by this clinic - incredibly trustworthy and attentive. From the reception staff, to the animal assistants, to the vet techs, to the veterinarians, everyone is kind and helpful. We have had our dog's shots updated here, had yearly examinations and come in twice for emergencies. Every time we left with piece of mind knowing our pup was in good hands. We have had excellent experiences with Dr. Mercier, Dr. Sam Nicol, and Dr. Matt Nicol.

We were unable to see our regular vet and were referred to Riverside as they were the on-call clinic. I can not say enough good things about this clinic. We were treated with amazing compassion and our dog was treated quickly and lovingly. The vets, techs, and receptionists were all so nice and respectful. After all the tests and a day with them it was discovered our sweet girl had a tumor that they could not operate on due to other complications. There was nothing that could be done and we began our good-byes to our sweet dog for the next day. What incredible compassion was extended to us the following day(even being able to pay in private in the room, instead of out front with other people all around) Thank-you to all that staff that walked through this journey with us; it was heart wrenching to say good-bye to our Schatzie. Your card in the mail later the following week and the remembrance foot print is a truly special keepsake for us. Bless you and thank-you again for your kindness and caring.

The caring compassionate, tactful staff at this place REALLY came through for me and a special little friend. I couldn't believe the level of kindness and understanding. They are amazing, Desiree, Becky are two of the receptionists and and English Male Dr were all very helpful and cheerful. They provided us with several samples to see what Kidney Renal Infection food my cat would eat, which allowed me to make the right choice. They gave us a free consultation and a Sub Q Fluid shot for my cat as he was severely dehydrated and enlightened me on what to do going forward with the standard of care I needed to provide. Tazz went from a level 4 to level 3 based on the information they provided me. I wish I remembered the vets name but he was so helpful and his assistant taught me how to treat Tazz if I needed to do the Sub Q shot myself. Thank you Riverside Animal Hospital for caring for my little Tazz, there is no other veterinarian clinic I would ever go to now that I know you are here in Kamloops.

I have been going to Riverside Small Animal Hospital for about 1.5 years now and have had excellent experiences with all staff. Receptionists, vet assistants and the vets are all awesome people who really care about animals and their owners! They do not overcharge for services nor pressure you into purchasing expensive tests or procedures. My dog had a bizarre medical issue a few months ago and all the staff were so helpful and kind to me and my little dog Roxy. Thankfully my little dog is just fine now and I'll be going back to Riverside Small Animal Hospital for any vet care in the future. I also love their emails and links to Petly, which provides you with an online chart of your pet which informs you of weight, upcoming vaccination due dates etc. If you need papers to travel, you can simply print them from Petly from home! It's pretty cool! They also sell excellent dog food and treats.

Had been considering moving vets from this clinic for a couple reasons. The prices are very high - overstaffing and high overhead I imagine are why. The second reason (and why I did move) is I called them on a Sunday as one of their 'patients' had ripped a tear in her leg - the clinic is closed, but I was told a vet would call me back. Rather than that, the answering service called me back to let me know I'd be charged $78 to receive such call, but that our dog still couldn't be seen by anyone. Rather ridiculous. That said, Dr. Caroline is an excellent and caring vet, and she works at this clinic.

Had the best experience possible with this vet office! The staff are so kind and reassuring to pet owners, and I felt zero judgement from them. My cat has only been to the vet one other time (when he was a baby to get fixed) so I was worried this would be traumatic for him but they were so calm and patient with him. The tech was very kind to me and the vet himself was extremely gentle with my boy. Highly recommend this place, and I will definitely continue to use their services going forward! Price point was extremely reasonable given what they do and the service they provided for me and my kitty!

I took our 8 1/2 year old adopted dog to get his nails trimmed at another vet who told me that because our dog is very nervous he would have to be sedated. I wasn't about to sedate my old dog each time he needed his nails done. So I went to Riverside Small Animal Hospital instead, and I'm so glad I did!! Seriously beyond amazing. Our dog experienced an Addison's Crisis attack (a serious and fatal version of the disease) and there were 3 doctors all aware of her situation. We would get calls 3-4 times a day with updates and keeping in touch with us while our baby was there from Sunday to Wednesday. Highly recommend! We are switching to them being her vet forever now. We couldn't be more thankful they brought our baby back from such an intense crash. Thank you to all the doctor's, nurses and staff at the RSAH who really put animals first!!

I brought a couple of guinea pigs in for a checkup and I asked that be treated for mites as a preventative measure. I asked that they be prescribed Ivermectin and they tried to charge me for 2 vials 50 ml of Ivermec Ivermectin (cattle/swine) @ $50 a piece for 2 ml of medication... Be sure to review your invoice. Otherwise they were helpful and willing to give me a "deal" on the second prescription.

This was my first visit to Riverside Animal Hospital. The reception area was very large, clean and organized. The front end staff were friendly and approachable. The vet, and vet technician, were fantastic. They definitely made me, and my dog feel comfortable. Edited to add: We recently, we had a medical emergency with one of our cats. Drs. Matt and Sam Nicol both worked diligently over a four day period and provided outstanding care. Unfortunately, our little guy didn't progress as much as we hoped, and we made the decision to euthanize our kitty. The compassion provided to us by the entire staff was amazing. Thank you to all the staff at Riverside Small Animal Hospital. You make me feel like our pets are also your pets.

Was recommended to riverside when I moved to kamloops 2 years ago. I have had nothing but great experiences each time I’ve had my dog seen up until today. I left there feeling as if my time and my dogs time was not valued or not as important. I have no issues when apts run late, I understand that aspect but when the dr. makes you feel like the issue at hand for your apt, he doesn’t have time for because they have “more important” patients. And walking back to ask techs how long it’s going to be is a chore doesn’t make a client feel valued or cared for. I will continue to take my dog here as the staff have always been welcoming but will make sure I request to see a different Dr.

My boyfriend and I recently adopted an 8 year old Rottie with arthritis and brought her here for an initial consultation as required by the SPCA. The got us in basically immediately, accommodated my schedule and made it known I can call if I have any questions or concerns about Karma's health. Everyone we have crossed paths with at this clinic has been a pleasure to deal with. These people saved my cats life, with in 4 months Enki went from deaths door to going viral online! Talk about a recovery. It was the amazing care that he got from Dr. Roberts, Buse and all the staff that made the difference. Our dog suffered severe trauma while out for a hike in Kamloops on June. 2, 2018. Riverside was the After Hour Vet, so we took her there. She had a lame back leg and a puncture wound on her side, near her chest. I suspected it was a run in with a cougar, but after X-rays, Dr. Eric Buist solved the mystery when he discovered a 12" air pocket that traveled along her rib cage from the hole location near her chest, all the way into her flank. It was clear that she had been impaled upon a stick and it traveled into her body and out of her body through the same twoonie sized hole. Uuugh! Eric was excellent both with his surgical skill, communication and tender care of Reina. He even called the following day to check in with her recovery. We are very grateful. Thank you :)

Took my 4 year old Golden Retriever in today for an Emergency Visit .They were able to fit us in quickly,the staff were awesome and the vet was amazing too!All in all, an extremely positive experience and I wouldnt hesitate to take any animal there!Prices were also great!

We are extremely pleased with this clinic. Our dog experienced some intense bad luck with a surgery from another clinic. This experience resulted in another serious surgery that the Riverside Doctors performed. The Doctors and staff have taken great care of our dog, we have never felt rushed when talking to the Doctors or staff. THANK YOU for being so supportive, kind, and overall exceptional. This is definitely our choice for a Vet clinic in Kamloops

Just sharing my experiences here for others to consider. Our pup first went here for her initial vaccinatons which went well. The next visit was for another round of shots at which time she was accidently given another rabies vax. The vet was apologetic and did not charge me for the unnecessary rabies shot. Third visit was to get spayed which was a laparoscopy surgery. She was in quite a bit of distress when I picked her up and I had to request additional pain meds - I hope she hadn't been like that for long before we picked her up. During that visit they made us buy a larger cone despite bringing the cone they gave us previously which was an unnecessary expense for us.

These are the people I trust to take the best possible care of my cat Barnaby (3 years old now). They take my concerns seriously, explain things thoroughly and are never rough with him. Even when they've given him shots or had to manhandle him, Barnaby isn't afraid of them so much as he's just not big on leaving the apartment for unfamiliar territory; he wants to explore. They've always been very sweet to him, and on most trips employees have loved on him when the opportunity presents itself, and with a new kitten arriving in my home on Sunday I have no doubt they'll continue to give the best loving care to my currently unnamed little fluffy boy as they have for my Barnaby.

I can't say enough great things about Riverside. My parents and I have been using them for over 15 years. The staff are great with all dogs. In particular, they have been amazing with my fearful coonhound. He has fear based aggression and doesn't like people approaching him when sick. He had surgery yesterday at Riverside due to a cut. He wouldn't jump into my car due to the cone, the staff offered to get a harness and two staff lifted him in. They also lent me a charger for my phone as it was dying. They go above and beyond always with my animals. Thank you Riverside

My review is based on the fact that the owner commented back about a review from Dee Reid. What a cop out. The fact is we called the Vet clinic and their answering service picked up. We were told there would be a charge for a vet to call us back and that the dog could not be seen until the next day. We were forced to call another clinic and by doing so we have changed Vets because we were not happy with that service from Riverside; especially when it was an emergency. We have had four dogs that were treated by Riverside over the years - we get emails to remind us when shots are due etc so I would assume we are indeed in their system. This screw up with their system, or communications as the owner puts it, is their loss our gain because the new Vet offers great service and lower costs. By reading other reviews from other sites you can see the owner is full of verbal diarrhea and is not willing to do anything about the screws ups. Riverside does have good vets, but the clinic itself needs somebody who is willing to use criticism constructively and fix some of the issues.

Took our dog there for a urinary tract infection after hours. 400 dollars later two rounds of antibiotics were used. The antibiotics used were wrong and didnt work. Also said our dog had kidney disease. Took to our regular vet. Kidney values were fine no sign of kidney disease, and it still had a uti because the urine wasnt cultured like it should have been and the appropriate antiobiotics werent used. Also was double billed. Was reimbursed a small fraction of bill. Owner was very nice but have no confidence in bringing my dog there ever again.

I cannot even begin to describe how thankful I am for everyone at this vet's office. Especially Dr. Sam and Matt Nicols and RVT Ali. My German Shepherd was diagnosed with lymphoma and they did everything they could to help us. After 8 long months of chemotherapy he relapsed only four months later. Instead of trying to get us to go through chemotherapy again they gave us the up front truth that it would not be a good idea due to Chevy's anxiety. They really care about all their clients especially their furry, scaly, or even feathered ones.

Dr. Nichol and his staff not only look out for the best interests of my pets, but never once have made me feel like I'm at a car repair shop, wondering if I'm being told work MUST be done (checking off all the boxes of potential issues rather than starting off with the most likely and least expensive items first before moving on to more invasive and expensive work). This consistent act reinforces to me that my pet is the priority - not how much money can be squeezed out of me each visit. I trust this clinic and therefore I, and my pets, will be a client for life.
