I took my Calico, Snickers into the vet this afternoon. This was my first appointment & will be making apps for checkups here, again. I can't tell you how helpful & reassuring this visit was. The staff was super amazing & reassured me that Snickers was in good hands (and that she was!). I had went to a previous vet that was the complete opposite of this visit. I definitely recommend. 5 stars!!!

Unfortunately the experiences I had for multiple vet appointments were not pleasant. Let me say, I give the outpost respect for the veterinarian field especially during the pandemic, unfortunately though, the service I had, I'm disappointed with the lack of communication and disrespect. I felt like no one was on the same page. I expressed my experience with the manager, felt dismissed. I've left in tears feeling helpless.

We took our cat here after expressing concern of vomitting blood. The first visit, $900 in, seemed to remedy the constipation but issues persisted. The cat was then brought in a second time and given a film-shot X Ray where it was again assumed the cat had constipation and was treated as such - $500 this time including basic blood work and an extraordinarily archaic looking X Ray. After our cat once again began vomitting blood and dark liquid, we were told that the vet who saw our cat would call. The receptionist made no effort to call us back later in the day to tell us that the vet wasn't actually in - I called near closing that day and was told the vet would call the next day. The next day came and went and we were left a voicemail with followup suggestions for our cat's symptoms - except the very same vet who saw our cat the second time apparently couldn't be bothered to read the notes from the last visit to even so much as know what species he was. We were given instructions on how to try to remedy the symptoms as if our animal was a dog and the vet referred to our cat as a dog not once but three times during the voice mail. We elected to go to another veterinary clinic a week later and were much happier with the treatment despite the unfortunate result of our cat having a stomach tumor. I really wish that Central had spent the time and diligence to discover this at least on their second visit - we expressed no concern about the cost of the tests and had to reiterate we would spend whatever it took to find out what was wrong with our cat. The other vet was able to determine what was wrong and their X Ray machine really made apparently to us how out of date the technology at Central Animal Hospital really is - the alternative vet's x Ray was significantly more clear and they charged us no more than what Central had. I don't want to pile on Central because they've been good to the pets of family members for much less complicated needs such as ehthuansia and routine checkups but if you are legitimately concerned about the health of your pet I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere in town. The staff at Central, including the vet, were pleasant enough to warrant a 2 star review but I will no longer be bringing my pets here.

He barely took a minute to recover and he’s back to his healthy yet crazy puppy ways, barely has an incision. We found Central when we had an emergency with our dog. Our previous vet could not take us so we contacted Central. They took us in within a couple of hours and they were fantastic. The staff were so friendly, professional and helpful with our first visit for booster shots !! Our new puppy wasn’t afraid at all and the vet who saw her was Amy Roberts, told me in detail about the exam etc. A quote was prepared and emailed to me about her upcoming spay and microchip appointment in 3 months, I had the email by the time we were home !! All covid protocols were followed, very clean lobby with sanitizer, signage and plexi glass in place. They gave us a free bag of puppy food and a spare leash for the car, also set us up with a free trial for pet insurance!! Highly recommend this vet clinic for all your fur baby needs :)

After the urgency of our needed visit wasn't met by another vet in town, Central Animal Hospital accommodated us immediately understanding truly the need to help our dog, a member of our family. You are NOT allowed to be with your pet for any part of their exams. I cannot rate an experience outside of initial front desk talking and in that regard they were very friendly my only negative experience is that I made this appointment weeks ago and was not made aware that I wasn't allowed to see what I am paying for in an annual exam. However they did refer me to someone that can accommodate my preferences.

We switched to Central a few years ago when our previous vet kept insisting our cat was healthy even though we KNEW something was wrong. She was losing weight, bringing mice and birds in the house to eat, climbing on the kitchen counter stealing food among a lot of other annoying behaviours. One visit here and a simple blood test confirmed the vet's suspicion that she had a thyroid issue. They worked with us over the next few months to fine tune the dose of meds to bring her levels in the normal range. Moonshine stopped all of the hunting and stealing food within a month and was/is her adorable self Again. Since then they have continued to provide thorough care to both our feline family members. We are grateful to have found them.

When our Berner ruptured her crucial cranial ligament, we were referred to Dr Bhandal at CAH in Vernon. Bailey was very responsive and provided answers to my numerous question about the TPLO surgery. We were able to take advantage of a cancellation and the surgery went well. Dr Bhandal was very informative and everyone at the clinic was very accommodating to us, as we came from out of town. Going to the vet for your pet’s annual check-up is no big deal, but when your pet is suffering, it can be extremely overwhelming. This is the situation I was in, last year, when I moved to Vernon. My beloved cat, Nevada, had come down with a very bad upper respiratory infection and her health was rapidly declining. When I took Nevada into Central Animal Hospital, I was greeted by a friendly and caring staff. Over the next few, heart-breaking weeks, the doctors and staff took care of me along with making my Nevada as comfortable as possible. As a single, full-time working mom, life is never easy, and times of stress can be extremely draining, but knowing that everyone at Central Animal Hospital genuinely felt for us, made a huge difference. After Nevada passed, everyone was very sympathetic, and in time I received a lovely, heartfelt, personal card, which provided closure. I really felt that everyone went above and beyond the requirements which made this extremely challenging situation somewhat manageable. When my son and I are ready for a new fur addition to join our family, Central Animal Hospital will be our first stop when it comes to the health and wellness of our new pet.

May 17/21 we brought out little Shih-tzu in. She had elevated enzymes in her liver and a blood infection. Now, our Laela was a very pampered puppy, but she needed her fur cut. Because of that the doctor on call told us she could've got the blood infection from drinking stagnant water. Laela never went outside without a leash and she was never left outside, her water was always changed throughout the day. He was more concerned about her hair and in case anyone forgot, we're in a pandemic! After she was hurt by one groomer, I don't take her to just anyone. On May 27/21, we had to put Laela down. It has left us with a gaping hole in our lives and not something I'd want anyone else to go through. I would never recommend this vet, but would say don't deal there. And to the doctor, get a bedside manner that won't leave people feeling like garbage. I couldn't give zero stars, and even one is too much. FYI- they also work with the Humane Society

It's been many years since I went to his clinic but I've never been back since. My old dog had a weird black spot on his leg for a very long time and I asked if he could look at it and instead he squeezed and popped it until it bled. My dog ended up quickly developing a massive bleeding tumor in the spot and we had to euthanize my pup when it spread and was untreatable. In the end maybe it was cancer but he progressed the symptoms and my dog suffered greatly before having to be put down.

We've had the pleasure of having a good relationship with this clinic since our boys were pups. They've been quite good at managing their two very unique temperaments. They're quite accommodating and despite us rarely needing to bring them in for anything more than the annual check up, they know the boys well. One of our boys is quite uncomfortable with people, and they've come up with a workable solution for him that keeps him and everyone safe and comfortable. Other than one experience with a new vet that was overly afraid of our boy, we've not had any situations that make us feel as though he weren't welcome. The location is convenient for us, and we can get an appointment fairly quickly. Lovely front staff for sure.

Our first experience with Central Animal Hospital wasn't under the best circumstances. Having arrived in Vernon only a couple of months previously, we didn't know where any vet clinics were. Unfortunately our dog collapsed in front of us, and we needed to seek immediate attention. I remember seeing the signage for Central Animal Hospital so I headed in that general direction, while trying to get an emergency vet on call. Sadly when we arrived (well past closing hours), our poor pug had already passed on. The staff at Central Animal Hospital were truly amazing. Not only did they open their doors after hours and try to assist, the care and compassion they had for us really helped. They treated our lovely dog with care, taking time to wrap her in a blanket and give us some time to say goodbye. With our two young daughters, this really helped them (and us) calm down and make us feel at ease. More recently, we brought our 11-year old cat in as she had been experiencing some health issues. Dr. Keith and the techs were super knowledgable, listened to each and every one of our concerns, and described possible treatments and outcomes. Our girl Bailey has a condition which will require medication for the rest of her lifetime, but I am very confident that with the care team at Central Animal Hospital (and lots of love at home), will have a well-managed and happy life.

My Jack Russell ingested raisins, which are very toxic to dogs. I could not induce vomiting, so I called CAH, and they told me to bring him in right away. They were able to get Rusty to 'give back' the raisins. That was Friday, it is now Monday, and Rusty is back to his old self. Very impressed with the care, and follow up call earlier today!

The best veterinary clinic in the Okanagan. One of our dogs had a seizure and after seeing the vet she assured us they could help, as my wife thought this was something that we had to put our dog down for but he is doing great after dialling in the meds and hasn’t really had another one for a few years. And our first fur baby lived until a ripe old age of 15 and when it was time for her to go they helped us deal with it with care and compassion. We have to drive 30 minutes and past a few other vet clinics but we wouldn’t go anywhere else. The veterinarians there are great and all the staff are great with people and all the pets. They always know us and our pets names and are very friendly. Top notch!!

Dr Smith also found cancer in my last pup Burgundy when other vets in Vernon had been given ample opportunity and visits to do so and didn't, and with the care she gave Burgs, it gave our family nearly a full extra year with the love of my life (husband knows about this distinction - lol!). The rate was reasonable, and I in no way felt like they were taking advantage of an emotional situation. All the reviews of this clinic portray compassionate and exceptional veterinary care, unfortunately my experience is one that I would not wish on anyone and I felt I finally needed to share our story. We brought our Siberian Husky Mia into this clinic for the first time in August because of chronic diarrhea and after a blood work up she was diagnosed with PLE, therefore we started an aggressive treatment plan. Mia immediately started having adverse effects from the medication so I brought her back in for a re-check with Dr Carolyn Walsh and was told to consider euthanasia because Mia had low blood protein levels Dr Walsh “expected” her health would rapidly deteriorate. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and found a vet who actually CARED and LISTENED to what I was telling him regarding Mia’s history & onset of symptoms. I am pleased to say today Mia is thriving and doing amazing! It was determined Mia had severe food intolerances and with a change in diet, her diarrhea & PLE resolved itself. There was no compassion shown to us by Dr Walsh nor have I ever felt so disrespected by any healthcare professional. To be honest, to this day, I cannot drive by Central Animal Hospital without experiencing extreme anxiety. Central Animal Hospital: Please do not contact me, I wish to put this dreadful experience behind.

I returned to CAH after leaving for several years...the grass is always greener. In this the grass was greener because it was Astroturf. I'll not be leaving again unless absolutely necessary. The Dr. here is excellent. Quick, appointment times are pretty solid considering we are still dealing with covid. No excessive waiting, usually less than 5 min. Prescriptions are filled on site and that too is quick. The office staff is polite and friendly, in spite of being a clinic, it feels more old timey and more personal than like a modern clinic would be thought. I like it. Take your pets here, they're good people.

We just had another regular annual check up / vaccination visit. As always it went great, we always have a personal conversation about the animals and it feels like you share stories with family. We have our animals coming to the CAH Drs. now since 2010 and they have stood by us during the sad times when saying good bye (thank you for the lovely cards) as well as the introducing the new member fun times. All our cats (2) we picked up from the SPCA and we were so happy that CAH particpates in the SPCA spay and neuter process. The reception staff is always happy and making friends with our 'kids'! The Staff and Doctors at Central Animal Hospital in Vernon are an exceptional and caring group of professionals who are always willing to go the extra mile in the love and caring of your best friends. My best buddy Chewy (Shihtsu Cross and whatever snuck into his Mother’s back yard) has been in to see their Veterinarians on several occasions for both minor ( regular check ups) and major events and surgeries (all front teeth had to be removed and large cyst on his neck removed as well) in every occasion he has always been the better for their compassion and caring. My friends kitten who was inneed of emergence care, appioment was booked for 11am did not even look over the kitten when they arrived. Waited 45 mintues which would have been okay if they were busy. However they could hear them laughing socializing in the back. When they eventually came out to look at the cat it was took late and he had passed away. They offered to cremate the kitten for 50$ but would not give back the ashes.

We are new to town, and our senior Schnauzer suddenly started experiencing weakness in her back end, we searched the internet for a vet in the area, and Central Animal Hospital had great reviews. We called them, they were very busy, but listened to our situation and squeezed us in within the hour. We took our dog there with some issues and we were very worried we would have to put her down. He said it was the last thing he wanted to do. He treated her for a low cost, and told us she is not ready to let go. This gave us 2 extra months with our beloved dog and she ended up passing peacefully at our home with us by her side. I have moved from Vernon but still see the wonderful veterinarians and nurses- there is no other clinic I would ever take any animal. They treat my pups like their own and I can never thank them enough for helping them through their health struggles. I had called ahead to get an estimate for my cat I suspected had worms. I was told $125 for the shots and visit and an extra $15-20 for the dewormer depending on what was needed. When we got there it was decided he was not due for shots, just the dewormer. The vet spent less than 2 minutes with us looked under the tail and asked if he could have pills. I said maybe not as he is partly feral, and he came back with a liquid that was applied to his back. Once at the cash I was charged $156!! Incredulous and upset, when I enquired why so much, I was spoken to very rudely about the medication used. I was never informed about that because I would have tried the pills if given all the information.

my wife brought in our playful 4 month old puppy who is harmless and told my wife she was kind of affraide and was adamant she needs professional training because she sniffed her and and playfully waved her head back and forth. My 17 year old purebred male pitty never hurt anyone and this puppy is around a 10 yr old and a 4 yr old and loves to play. I think you need to recognize when a dog Is being playful and not just look at the breed and claim you are fearful. Kind of appalled. Might not be back.

He was very traumatized from another experience he had somewhere else , when he was in their care he was scared and sad , until the sweetest employee helped calm him in his kennel before surgery by softly singing him to sleep like a little baby ! They also went over and above to even put his name with a little hand written heart on his sheet, a “goodie bag” of medication for him as though he just went to a birthday party hehe . Dr. Walsh always gave us the kindest and most complete treatment options possible and the techs, other vets, and front desk staff go above and beyond. They are a busy clinic in a small space, so if you can forgive them 1% of the time (I mean, we're all human), you will receive some of the highest care standards around. The vet was very empathetic and able to diagnose my cats urinary tract infection within hours. But I was less impressed by the vet technician who gave me the medication. She gave basic instructions on how to prep the meds by adding water quickly within the span of 10 seconds. I had to ask her to repeat it. She didn’t explain proper storage to put it in the fridge or how many times a day to give the medicine. AND she didn’t state the crucial fact that you can’t miss a dose in order for the medication to work properly. I was a little disappointed that I had to look online for this medication bits of info. However I did bring in a rather small urine sample which they were able to test within a few hours. And my cat is already showing signs of improvement after the first day and a half on meds. I would go back here based on the vet’s expertise and not trying to sell stuff I couldn’t afford or didn’t need.

They go through a detailed description of what you have been charged for and are very willing to answer any questions you may have. The vets we have seen have always been friendly, kind and compassionate towards us and our cats. We recently had some health concerns with one of our cats and they were able to get our cat in quickly ( even though they said they were very booked up and busy) The vet kept us in the loop and contacted me and kept me up to date with what was going on with our cat! She was so helpful and amazing when my Marley had two back to back litters a couple of years ago. My dog had TPLO surgery 3 weeks ago and Dr Sara has literally been my lifeline these past couple of weeks because I had a lot of questions. We could not have taken our beloved 15 year old Aussie Shepard/ Border Collie Macy to a better Vet. Macy’s dental needs were extreme; she had to have the majority of her teeth extracted by Dr Amy Roberts whom was very compassionate to our old girl and to us. Macy was in surgery for 4 to 5 hours which wouldn’t have been necessary with regular dental care. Dr Roberts took her time and was very gentle and also removed a skin tag from Macy’s eye lid and gave her a complimentary nail trim. I went to collect my dog later that day as I wanted to take her home to care for her where she would be more comfortable in her own surroundings.Macy was not ready to go as she had a long day with unexpected multiple teeth that needed to be removed. The staff was able to accommodate a later pick up time that evening from a very caring Vet tech named Sheryl whom also checked Macy in that morning.I can’t thank you folks enough for helping Macy, who is making a speedy recovery. Central Animal Hospital stuck to their quote though Macy needed more extractions than expected. We are very pleased to have Macy home and on the mend. I would rate the entire hospital staff from the front office, techs and Dr Roberts a solid 10! You have a new regular client as we plan on being back for regular Vet visits. Thank you all again.

Shedualed for removing stiches he might of removed 5 out of over 30. Well my time was wasted going in for that. I watched him just trimming hair instead of removing STICHES. Saying they are desovolable well they are still there after over 13 days bleading. Then he caught kennel cough there and receptionists say he could of caught that anywhere. Funny he is thirteen and never had it. And had been no where but to the vet and home to recover from surgery. Think they would sterilized there facility from the news and take it seriously but no. Was hair all over the floor every fisit so no cleaning after other dog appointments. Just very disappointed when there is no care for my dog after spending lots of money there. Then putting another antibiotic charge of about 100 bucks instead of taking ownership of there vacility not being cleaned properly.

Our dog had surgery scheduled with Dr Bhandall here as there was nowhere to have the surgery in our home town during the Covid crisis. The hospital was set up professionally with safeguards against Covid. The surgery was late as they had an emergency but we still got a call when it was complete. The instructions for after care were clear and explained to us concisely and we received several follow up calls to check on out dogs progress. A special thank you to Bailey who was helpful and professional, she was available to us for questions and she dealt with our insurance claim paperwork.

They take their sweet time getting back to you about results. Waited 5 days to hear back from them on X-ray results and they just regurgitated info my old vet (before I moved) had given them. Finally after 5 days heard back from Dr. Lewis, he says he's still waiting on the surgeons response, but he had waited to contact the surgeon until the 5th day when I continued to push them for the results. Despite them knowing I will be out of reach for 3 weeks. Terrible service and I absolutely will not be going back. *UPDATE: this vet pushed for me to amputate my dogs leg (for approx. $1500). My other option was some $3000 surgery and my dog would need "aggressive" physio. I ended up going to Lakeland vet in 100 mile and my dog was walking on his leg 3 days later. The kicker? Surgery was $750 and my dog doesn't need physio. This vet will steal your money. Find someone else.

Worst vet care ever! They did not provide iv, fluid, pain management or explore her dog bite wound.. They charged me $800 and sent her home.. I called many times saying she is worse, not able to keep meds down, not eating ect.. They ignored my requests for proper pain management, antibiotics and iv fluid.. Instead on their own they force fed a cat who was leaking a quart cup of pus a day because they did nothing for her wound.. I did not know or concent to them force feeding her or "hydro therapy" her unexplored, infected and dying pus pocket wound.. They force fed her before giving her pain management or IV fluids.. When I ripped her out of their care I was given a quote for 2600.. I brought my cat to another vet the next morning (this was a Sunday and my vet was closed) they saw my dying, septic, dehydrated and tortured cat who had been 10 days no treatment and took her right away and surgery was done properly and cost $800.. When I asked to speak to the manager about this they tried to charge me $85. Which is illegal as I explained to the coward manager Tara... When you have done wrong admit it.. I doubt you brought this to the owners attention like I asked and I picked up the refund before thinking about your clinic makes me physically sick.. It's a write off to loose money and not deal with your disgusting torture clinic

Our two puppies got the deworming and needles there. And we only asked the doctor a question about how to prevent ticks from the dogs,the doctor showed us a medicine and got some on my puppies neck, then also showed us a medicine about heart worm. We never told him we need these medicine and he also never asked us whether we want the medicine or tell us how much for the medicine.when we went to pay the bill. We found it costs our hundreds bucks. It seems they don't need to ask our opinion and just do it. (Nike here.)and they explained that We shouldn't let my dogs getting sickness, seems I should buy these medicine without my options? We asked for returning the medicine. They only return part of my amount because my puppies have gotten some on the neck. That is our experience in the animal hospital. Just FYR.

I had to rush my kitty there as she was acting very strange and I was scared For her and had no time to call ahead. When I walked in the door I was met with friendly faces and I was told they would take good care of her. Every couple minutes I was updated how my girl was doing and reassured she was going to be just fine. I felt calm and I knew my baby was in good hands. My girl doesn’t get scared when I take her there and they treat her great every time

I recently took my dog in for a x-Ray to count how many puppies she was carrying. I will say that Central Vet got my in the same day which was great. When I called I was specific in asking if they would be able to get a good quality scan of my girl as she is 133 pounds, I was reassured they have a top of the line machine and it would be no problem. When I arrived they took her in and then brought her back out about 5-7 mins later. The tech told me no vet was available to read the scans and they would call me. I paid for the scan and asked to be sent the scan. The vet called 5 mins later and told me she had 4 puppies, I asked if she was sure and she said could not confirm 100% as they only took 1 view. So I drove back to the vet to get another scan. After the scan they confirmed 4 puppies. I paid once again and asked for the scans to be forwarded to me. When I received the scans, I was extremely disappointed. They are extremely cloudy and to properly count puppies is not possible. I understand puppies do not always co-operate but the quality of the scans are horrible. I sent a e mail explaining my disappointment and they replied they were actually very good scans and it was the puppy’s position which was making them hard to read. I sent examples of good, clear scans and have not received any reply.

This is the worst Clinic I've ever encountered for if I would have listened to the money grabber my wonderful sweet dog would be dead. They care for only one kind of animal and that's the greedy selfish money minded kind so if you want the worst experience of your life while already going through hell trying to save your baby then this place is for you. The front staff and most vets were friendly and kind. I was disappointed with Dr. O’Shea , he was not interested in listening to my concerns or questions. He dismissed important info that could have saved our cat months of distress. His examination was quick and rushed I will not return to him. We have since taken our cat to another vet and she listened, did thorough examinations and has helped her get back to almost her old self. She also didn’t dismiss my pleas that her behaviour was more than anxiety and investigated her neurologically and helped her.

Dr Kaler is one of a kind! The staff are always pleasant. We have taken many animals over the years to different clinics and we are so grateful we were guided to Central Animal Hospital when our late Cocker Spaniel's health was failing. What should have been only a couple more days became a couple more years! Thank you Dr Kaler, you are second to none!
