I am a trainer and was looking after a pup. She started to get sick with diarrhea. The clients vet was unable to see the pup. McGilvray took us in immediately. The vet was kind, listen to me and took great care of the pup. It turn out the pup just had an upset tummy but I was so glad McGilvray was there for us. I would used them again.

McGilvray Veterinary Hospital is the best there is in veterinary care. We have been going to Dr. Darren Marks since our dog Zoey Rae, a mini Australian labradoodle was born (now 9) and we have been over the top happy with the care she has received!! Dr. Marks is really on top of our dog's health in every way. Our dog now requires a special diet and Dr. Marks was quick to institute that when it was needed (at age 9). This slowly developed and Dr. Marks was carefully monitoring the situation as our dog got older. Our dog gets really great grooming at McGilvray too. The support staff is always by phone should anything ever develop at any time of the day, and if you call in the middle of the night, they tell you what to do. For this reason, your dog is looked after 24/7. Just recently, we were concerned about a lump we felt on our dog's chest, and Dr. Marks examined our dog at the grooming appointment and called us right away that it was nothing to worry about. You never have to wait weeks being anxious about your dog like at some vet clinics. Dr. Marks calls you will lab results right away, and the communication with the office staff is top notch. None of this voice mail you get at some offices. The support staff is specialty trained in veterinary medicine so you don't get dumb secretaries taking messages like in some vet offices. Most of all, with the pandemic, McGilvray has been able to work within the limits of the pandemic to still deliver top-of-line veterinary care, even if it is curb-side vet care. Even in this pandemic, our dog is still getting the best veterinary care there is. When our dog is in the hands of Dr. Marks, and she has seen other vets at the clinic too, we always know she is in the best veterinary hands there is in the city. We wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The clinic also sells top notch dog food that our dog can have on her sensitive stomach diet. This food has improved her health 100%. It was recommended by Dr. Marks. McGilvray is your one-stop shop for veterinary care and also located near Shopper's, Puseteri's, the Car Wash, South Side Burger, and near Toy Town. McGilvray is the best there is in veterinary care!!

Dr Gelman and the whole team took great care of our previous dog who was diabetic and blind for the last 6 months of his life. It is a year that he passed away and we have just adopted a 10 months old rescue puppy. Even after having moved further east of the city, we could not go to another vet hospital! I’ve been taking my dogs to Mcgillvray veterinary clinic/hospital for almost 25 years. I’ve had three golden retrievers I’ve had a medium-size poodle mix mini size poodle mix and a cat and it doesn’t matter which animal they are always treated with the best care. Right now I have three dogs were all very different and a cat.They’re kind to their patient and they always have time to talk to you and answer your questions. I have never called and asked for somebody to call me back, and they didn’t. I usually see Dr. Owen who I love and he’s such a great doctor that I wish he could be my doctor! But every other vet I’ve ever had there for any other reason has always been top-notch It’s not just that, it’s all the support staff that make that hospital run like clockwork. I have to send a special shout out to Krista because she has been there as long as I have, if not longer and she’s a lovely lovely person. She always remembers who my dogs are, including their names. She’s definitely an asset to that organization. So Noble, Odie, Coco and Misty thank you! P. S. There is a multi pet discount!

My dog Joso has been going to McGilvray since he was born 4 yrs ago. He is really well taken care of and is in love with Kristy and Lee his groomers. Everyone at the hospital makes you feel that when your animal comes in that they are important and loved by everyone there. The atmosphere and comeraderie of everyone working there is just amazing. We have been at McGilvray for about 40 years in total with our previous dogs Crockett, Tubbs, Bonzo and Spike. I went to McGilvray vet Today with my dogs for the first time, it was an absolute amazing experience. My one dog hasn’t been feeling good so I made an appointment for her to be seen, my other dog become very sick overnight, I was prepared to have to take her to an emergency vet but when I showed up for my appointment and explained that both my dogs were now not feeling well the doctor took a look at both dogs no questions asked even though I had only made an appointment for my one dog to be seen as I wasn’t expecting both my girls to become sick. I have never been to a vet where the doctor actually talked to you before examining my girls or came out and properly explained everything when he was finished. It was always the receptionist explaining what needed to be done, and then asking for payment. I haven’t been to a vet who truly took the time to talk to me and explain everything properly. Everyone at McGilvray was very nice, they definitely have great a great team working there. I know my dogs are in great hands at McGilvray and will definitely be continuing to take my girls here for everything that’s needed for them.

Totally rude and unprofessional as if you’re bothering her with everything. Not a good feeling as a paying client. I’m moving services elsewhere as I feel totally undervalued as a paying client. I have brought my pets to McGilivray since 1982, even after moving away from the Avenue Road and Laurence area. They have always provided compassionate care to my dogs and to our family. They have also always been happy to meet my needs for information when there has been something I didn't understand. I find it's a wee bit on the expensive side, but as I have no other experience (nor would I go anywhere else), I have no comparators.

Through my family twenty six years ago with our first family pet, and now with my own, I have been a client at McGilvery. Dr Tate mostly exclusively treated our family dog and we couldn’t have been happier with his tender approach to treating animals. Dr Tate bent over backwards to keep our dog healthy when our mother was terminally ill, knowing a blow to our family pet was horribly timed. Now with my own dog, I find myself at McGilvery more than I would like, and trust not only Dr Tate, but also Dr Marks and Dr Gelman equally. The docs are all very caring and knowledgeable. When Lyme was new to Toronto 8 years ago, they collaborated with colleagues south of the border to ensure my dog had the best and most current diagnosis and treatment. Their hours of operation are long and fair and their after hours service is there for back up if needed and always staffed by one of the clinic vets. From serious life threatening illnesses to simple every day run of the mill hot spots, I have never had anything but positive experiences with all the staff and recommend them without hesitation.

I honestly cannot thank her or the clinic enough. She made me feel extremely comfortable and I knew right away my dog was in the best hands possible. McGilvray is not my regular vet but I had an emergency with my dog and even though we had never been there they were very warm and accommodating. The doctor called me and took the time to explain everything to me. I am grateful for the service and level of care they provided!

Doctor Marks have been our family Vet for 20+ years, he is fantastic. However our recent visit with Doctor Chris with my dog after a night of him being in serious distress was amazing. After the 24 Hour clinic in Hamilton wanting to euthanasia him within 20 minutes of being in their office, Doctor Chris was exactly what Bentley and I needed. His situation is nowhere near euthanasia even being a consideration and he is pretty much back to his usual self. With Doctors Marks & Chris on our side now, the coming surgery is a concern but we know he is in the best hands possible!

Everyone here is awesome. Bryan Gelman is our vet and he is fantastic. He takes a genuine interest in our pets when we visit, communicates exactly what's going on/what our options are, and is very honest and transparent. My cat recently got really sick so we brought her in, and he was very prompt with his updates on test results, etc. Unfortunately we had to put her down. As terrible as that was, he was very empathetic, caring, and communicative during the whole process. Best vet I've ever been to.
