Here you will be able to see all the opinions of real people like you who know the products of East River Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) in Havre-Saint-Pierre territory (Canada).
At present this business receives a score of 4.4 out of 5 and this score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is very good, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we can say that the evaluation is very credible. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they are happy with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to put opinions when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Veterinarian corresponds to the category of Veterinarian.
Extremely rude on the phone. Wouldn't even listen to the issue. Don't bother trying to go here unless you already do apparently. My industry has staffing issues too, but we're not rude to customers or clients. Perhaps remove "Hospital" from your name and replace it with "Private Clinic". Might save you the aggravation of people calling.
The staff are amazing and show such great love and care to our two boys (cats) We drive from Halifax each year for their shots and check ups. Well worth it.
I've been going here for almost 8 years and loyalty seems to mean nothing. I had a problem with the male vet there years ago, he was very rough with my animals. When I took my cat there to get fixed, she came home looking injured and just in really rough shape, she kind of looked like she just had kittens. I've gotten plenty of cats fixed in my life and never have I had one come back like this. She was sick throwing up constantly, could barely keep any food down, I wasn't able to take her back right away because of a snow storm, then the weekend I couldn't afford the emergency charge so I took her back to east river about week later and the same vet told me she was fine when she definitely wasn't. My other vet said he might have poked a hole in her stomach at some point, the cat ended up being sickly for a very long time and caused complications for the rest of her life. She was perfectly healthy before getting her fixed. In my recent experience I've been lied too, they seem all to eager to overcharge. I paid 70-80 dollars for a Lyme disease vaccination for my dog. I was told he would need a booster shot in a month and it'd be free. I made sure it was free, that was the entire reason I got the vaccination to begin with, as I did not really have the money. I made an appointment and came in a month later just to have them try and charge me another $70-$80 for the booster shot, which I could not pay for. When I said It was supposed to be free the vet or technician lady I was dealing with told me that it was not, and said something to the effect of "no one here told you that. I was honestly shocked and so angry, I just walked out. I'm told the first shot was pointless without the booster so I wasted the $70 I already spent. Unless things are made right that will be the last time I ever go to east river animal hospital. I suggest you think before going here. It was a very discouraging experience.
Prompt care, and take time to to explain treatment plans
Great staff, they took amazing care of my puppy ❤
Always great service, but you're gonna pay for it
Called into for emergency hours, got extremely rude service and they wernt in time... the cat passed away that day.. rip.
Love the place really friendly staff!! :)
Very friendly and considerate vets!
The staff were very friendly. Communication was excellent as well. Surgery went very well with my dog. Will absolutely be returning.
The team helped us out when other vets couldn't. Dramatically increased our dogs quality of life.
Vet Barry Harrison excellent with my Maizy.
Very caring of your pets.prices a bit steeper than some but care is awesome
Really liked the way they broke everything down for me and explained everything very well
Great veterinary, not pushy and handles my dog great. Awesome rates as well!!
Very caring staff and reasonable prices
It was awesome had my dog and cat both done there no issues at all. ???? ???? ????
Vets and staff know what they are doing. They handle the pets professionally but also kindly.
Dr Finleyson, Connie & Cherie and the rest of the staff are the best ever! They were so caring & thoughtful to my wife and I and our old dog. They did a marvelous job with the surgery and saved my old pal's life! Thanks so much ERAH!
I really like the care you provide for our pets ! Thanks !
Very professional and knowledgeable staff. The only place I feel comfortable bringing my pet!
Great facilities and staff will always bring my fur babies here .
Very Caring Staff, a good place to take your pets.
Staff is very friendly
Very friendly also very clean
Awesome staff.
Amazingly friendly customer service, very knowledgeable staff who clearly care for the pets that come in for whatever reason. I boarded my Rottweiler here for the day and he had excellent care, I would recommend their services to anyone who has animals.
This establishment was completely unprofessional , charges an arm and a leg for any and every thing you set up for your dog or cat and even charges to get your information file sent to other vets. WOULD NOT recommend. Extremely rude staff, ridiculous prices. I did not feel safe with my dog being neutered there they just wanted my money and did not seem too concerned about the well being of my pup just how much I was paying them.
I have been a client here for many years and they take excellent care of pets
Good service.
I feel so taken advantage of by East River Road Animal Hospital! My child’s hamster developed a tumour in its throat that we just noticed as it was bleeding through its eye and skin. I phoned Abercrombie Animal Hospital as I knew it probably had to be put to sleep. The poor thing was obviously suffering. They were booked until tomorrow. The cost would have been $10 for euthanasia. I didn’t want the hamster to suffer overnight so I phoned other vets. I got an appointment at East River Animal Hospital. I made the mistake of assuming the price would be similar. I was in shock when they handed me a bill for $131 for euthenizing a hamster. They charged $69 for an exam and $45 to euthanize plus tax. I almost couldn’t speak. The receptionist and the vet said that is what they charge. Now I know why there was nobody there and I could get an appointment. No animal deserves to suffer in death. How can one vet charge $10 and the other $131? I have never felt so taken advantage of. I will never ever go there again. The staff were compassionate and professional but the price was outrageous.????
Great service and priced reasonably.
Best clinic in town
Knowledgeable veterinarian but can be a bit expensive. Very helpful friendly staff. They call to check up on my animals.
Nice caring attitude.......... Very gentle with the animals.
Very caring staff that have your pets interest in mind.
Very friendly and professional
Clean, modern facilities... Friendly, helpful and professional staff.
The staff here were pleasant and professional. I had kittens spay and neutered and everything went extremely well. Both kittens recovered and healed quickly, which, I believe, says a great deal about the skill and care of the doctors and staff. I would recommend this hospital without hesitation.
The entire staff is so kind and helpful whether you're in for a quick visit or something more serious. Fantastic team.
They take excellent care of my pets.
Love the vets and a beautiful facility!
Great vets and fairly decent prices. Lovely professional new building! Vere gorgeous!
Absolutely the nicest experience I've ever had a Vet Clinic. Everyone was warm and friendly. The Vet was informative and helpful. Will definitely be doing all of my pet related business here.
It was awesome great staff
All wasgood
We love Dr.Mason
Very nice staff, fast and knowledgeable. Quick to get an appointment
Very courteous and empathic
Very caring and GREAT follow-up!
Very nice staff
We have been bringing our pets here for many years, and love the homey, caring feel. They were so understanding when we had to part with our beagle. When we got a new puppy, I checked neutering prices at 6 or 7 places in Manitoba and our area here, and East River had the most reasonable price! Thank you again!
Took wonderful care of my daughter's kitten. Called the next day to see how it did over night.
Great bunch of people and always friendly. Best Vet experience yet.
So efficiently run business
Amazing service and great care for our animals.
Friendly and helpful
Well worth the extra time driving from Truro ,a dental exam for our Dog in Truro is just over $80 where here its only $35.we have found that if anything major cost wise,we will always drive to New Glasgow, super friendly staff also.
We travel over 100 kms to get to this vet!
The doctor was very throughout and answered all the questions I had. She was great. I feel confident she will provide good long term care for all my pets. The vaccine cost was the highest I've seen but they price the exam quite low so it ended up balancing fairly.
We received excellent service from Dr. Muir and the staff who were working. Kind and compassionate.
Good service friendly helpful staff.
Great place to bring your loved fury family members and everything is just about half the regular price of vets located in Halifax.
Friendly
Very pleased, they saved my doggy ????
We live an hour away and have several vets in our area but we bring our here. They are extremely helpful and caring and call to check up. She has had two surgeries there that were half the price of other vets. Highlyrecommend them!
We are so pleased to have found this clinic. They are professional, knowledgeable and truly care about animals - they acknowledge you when you enter and explain everything and give you several options if you have any concerns.
Exceptional phone customer service..haven't met my kitty but seems to care already.
Exceptional customer service. Cheapest place around for any pets' needs.
Made an appointment for my dog right away
Excellent clinic with caring staff. Will take the time to talk with you & explain everything. Will work to make a plan of action if needed & will make appts. to suit your needs. Dr. K is so knowledgeable, wants the best for your pet & is always ready to help...
Buyer beware. My wife took our dog to these people and was told that for our dog to survive she required $1000 of dental surgery. My wife said we didn’t have $1000 and they pressured her to take a credit card to cover the cost of $1000. Fortunately, my wife called me first. I grew up on a farm an have a very trustworthy, caring vet and staff on my contact list. They charged us $400 for the dental surgery AND flea treatment for four animals. My scrupulous vet said that even if they’d needed X-rays (which weren’t required) it would have been under $500. They didn’t charge $35 for a flea fee, either. They said she was flea free, unlike the vet being reviewed here. Like any other profession, there are people who are worthy of trust, and those out to part you from as much of your money as possible without considering you anything but another mark. My suggestion is to avoid these people at all possible cost.
The people there are great.
Very professional
Excellent care from an awesome staff. Prices too good to be true but they are. We took a puppy for spaying and a kitten for neutering and saved almost $1000.00 over prices in Halifax. Beautiful modern building with everything you need for your pet..
Brought my cat here because she hates the car and it was the closest clinic. After getting a quote for a procedure she will need, I called around to a couple different clinics in town and quickly learned that not only can I get the procedure done for half of what was quoted at East River, the original consult would only cost half as much too. The vet was kind and knew what she was doing, but I will not be back because the prices were outrageous.
Always good to my boy. Prices are fair. Staff is amazing and knowledgeable.
The staff is excellent... and medical care is outstanding...
Do not take your pet here!!! All they care about is money. Fees are way too much and they prescribe unnecessary medication.
I am extremely upset at the way things were handled at this place... I took my dog here and I knew it wasent good... i had prepared myself and my son for the worst. Then we get here and the veterinarian tells us oh I think it's an absest tooth... I appreciated that they gave me the least quote and the most it would be. I was fine paying anything I had to considering I thought my dog was dying and then it was just an absest tooth. I leave him there for them to check it and then I get a call saying his teeth are fine and that he has a growth in the back of his throat. They thought it maybe an abscess so they made an incision to see if it would drain witch it would not. They wanted me to peruse and run a bunch more test for.more money. I felt so confused and was looking to understand why they wanted to run so many more tests... I mean is there a chance of my dog recovering from this? Reality is there was no chance... he was suffering... I was extremely upset and looking for them to give me some direction... not try and soak me because I love my dog... I just couldn't understand why they would not give me the proper advice to make the right decision. Just seemed like they wanted more money... and giving me false hope in the first place made the whole process that much harder. On both me and my son
had an emergency with my puppy, they told me no. go to Halifax they said. anyone who denies a puppy in trouble is no good in my books. *in response to the owners response, I'm not sure where you got vaccination from, my puppy was attacked by another dog and was in need of emergency vet services. I was quite clear about that on the phone so it is you who needs to he truthful. the vet I went to told me to come right in before ever asking if I was a client.
Cant believe there are not more negative reviews here. Must be the intimidation techniques used by the staff. Was quoted upwards of $1000 for an amputation of a cats leg. Had it done for $300 all in cost with no cost for follow up visit. My actual cost at East River Vet would likely have been $1500+ with follow up. Avoid at all cost these people pray on your emotions, up-sell any chance they get.
We recently had to put our cat Marin down. My Husband and I cannot thank the staff at the East River Animal Hospital enough for the patience, love and kindness they have shown to our cat Marin(who put up a fight every single time we visited). We highly recommend this vet clinic! ????
Friendly, courteous service. Bit more expensive then the other Vets but the service is SO much better!!
Good servive
Nice buulding, good staff, lots of produtcs!
Wonderful staff; great, caring environment.
Very good would not go anywhere else with my animals .The staff go above and beyond to comfort my dog and checked on him even after his surgery when he returned home. They are the best .will recommend them them to anyone
My first and only experience. Very disappointed. Cost $1400 for 2 dogs to be treated for urinary tract infections. They are Mastiffs so are 200 lb dogs. This is not a vet for large or giant breed dogs. I’m used to higher vet bills than a beagle but let me explain why my disappointment goes to trust over cost. I need a vet to do the right thing for my dogs. Our first visit was good. Nice staff and I liked the vet. I was surprised my bill was over $900 but it is what it is. One dog’s meds was for 7 days and it wasn’t long enough to treat a urinary tract infection. My follow-up visit was shocking. I was greeted with “hi, that will be $131”. I’ve never paid up front at a vet before, especially knowing we need more meds. I asked why I don’t just pay for it all at the end. She said they need to test the urine and won’t do that without being paid up front. The vet said he will give her 10-14 days if he has it. He only had 7 days worth so asked I come back in 7 days. I live close to 2 hours away so asked for a prescription I can fill at another vet. He then offers to write a prescription for the same meds I can get at the pharmacy. I bought his 7 days and he gave a prescription for the other 7 days. His meds were $236. The exact same med at the pharmacy was $84. After 2 doses, my dog was projectile vomiting and extremely lethargic. Checked the meds… both this and the last prescription. These new meds were twice the dose. **here are my concerns. the second 7 days were the same cost as the first 7 days but were twice the dose. My dog had to swallow 6 pills twice a day when he could have given the same dose with 3 pills at half the price. He prescribed the lower dose the first time but twice the number of pills so he can earn more. My first visit had $600 worth of amoxicillin. The pharmacy filled prescription is also twice the dose he originally gave me. What’s this mean? The first visit, he could have provided all the meds I needed with a pharmacy prescription at a meds cost of $125. Instead they charged $600 the first time and $236 the second. I get vets make money off of meds but they need to be reasonable for giant breed dogs. Let’s not forget the “medication error” as my pharmacist called it when he prescribed her to consume 6 of the double dose pills twice a day. Thank goodness I researched after the vomit. Definitely returning to my old vet who helped find manageable solutions. It’s 100% accurate. See receipts and prescriptions in the photos section
Excellent
Very caring and helpful! Would not take my pet anywhere else.
East River Animal Hospital has some of the best service we've ever had! Our cat was missing for over 11 months and not one vet would take us around town besides them. We also have a chihuahua whos scared to death of having his nails clipped, yet he has 0 fear at East River Animal Hospital. Highly recommend signing up at this vet! Its worth every penny to know you're getting quality care.
They neutered my guinea pig, it was the best experience I had. They were kind and professional, and my guinea pig did great and recovered great
Professional and Extremely Caring
Very professional, yet very compassionate, we had to put our 17 yr. Old cat to sleep.
Wonderful ! Very caring professional and compassionate staff. Provided excellent veterinary care for our small dog. I highly recommend them for any care or treatments for your pets.
Had my dog over had bad hot spot, they we great they came out took her then called to let me know what was what ,fix her up and when finish out to car she came. Can’t thanks them enough . ????????????????????
Amazing service, very professional and the Veterinarian was very nice and personable.
Called the after hours vet when one of my cats was just not acting right. She was there within 10 minutes. He was unwell enough that we had the choice to euthanize or try to save him, we chose the latter and are so glad we did. The Dr got him started right away, kept us very well updated and our little sketchbag fluffball not only survived but is back to his normal self. They have since been advising me on foods to prevent another blockage and not once have made me feel foolish for asking a question (of which I've had plenty) They saved my cats life and took great care of him during his stay and we are eternally grateful!
Dr. Harrison was excellent with my mini pig, and the staff were caring and courteous, calling twice post-surgery to ensure my pet was well.
Modern facility and excellent care by Dr. Muir
Service and prices
Wonderful doctors and staff. They took my pet in as a patient when the other clinics refused. He's well on his way to a full recovery now, thanks to them.
They are very good and caring with the animals.
Visiting from out of province, I phoned this place yesterday to enquire about kidney meds that our dog takes. They said they carried the brand we use, and had two in stock and were $54 plus tax each. We purchased two over the phone, and had a family member pick them up and delivered them to our campsite. We were quite surprised when we saw that they were tiny bottles vs. the larger tub we purchase from our home vet for $79.99 plus tax each (90g vs.300g respectively). So today, we had to go into New Glasgow and decided to return the unopened bottles as they were astronomically more expensive. We were told that once medications leave, they are non returnable. Nowhere inside the vet states this policy for a customer to review, nowhere on the invoice is this stated nor did anyone inform us when we purchased. These two bottles were clearly unopened and could easily be resold to another willing victim of their high prices. After the snarky clerk at the desk spoke to the elusive office manager, I was told they would refund them, less a dispensing fee! I was informed by said clerk that they operate like a pharmacy in most respects. I am no pharmacist, but I can’t think comparing the dispensing of medications down to an exact science is the same as reaching for a prepackaged medication the vet gave us. I understand business and making a profit isn’t a bad thing. However, this vet is clearly overpricing their merchandise , and when a customer realizes this and wants to return unopened and undamaged goods less than 24 hours after purchase due to dissatisfaction, I believe this should have been done without issue. Shame on you, East River Animal Hospital for your extreme greed and lack of customer service. This won’t be soon forgotten. Photo below for size comparison.
Staff is friendly and courteous. They are very affectionate and loving with all the patients.
Don't know I sat in the truck and waited
Great place for you and your animals. They are helpful friendly staff and treat your animals wellness with care and concern.
Was very disappointed
All the staff here are amazing and so caring! Best place to take your fur baby.
Took my cat in to be looked at, was charged $80 just for walking in the door. The vet said they would be able to do blood work to see if they could find the problem from there but it would cost me $300.. JUST FOR THE TEST! .. i opted out and decided to try medication for her symptoms first.. the vet quoted me $140 for the meds .. when i went to pay they charged me an extra $30 for a shot they gave her that i was told was included in the meds .. yes they were nice .. but they are crooks.. called around and could of had everything done for half the price and actually been able to afford to find out whats wrong with my cat. Abercrombie vet will be getting all my business from now on.
Always get great service here. When I was here last they were very busy. Thank you for all you do!
