Avon was our veterinarian for our amazingly sweet and (separation anxiety ridden) American Staffordshire Terrier. ( Not all vets have the same views on bully breeds, I can confirm that) but her breed was never an issue with them and she was always coddled and very nicely treated. AST’s need a lot of heath care so we were at the Vet often! At 8 years old, in late 2020, our Staffy developed a Mast Cell Tumor and further internal cancer was later found. It was a difficult year for everyone with the pandemic restrictions taking effect but Avon was great to deal with, though they don’t seem to have a lot of specialized equipment in house but their partner-vets network got what needed to be done fairly easily, though there was alot of running around to multiple vets in Halifax for biopsies etc. Where Avon really shined was with the euthanasia we eventually needed. Our girl quickly declined suddenly ( liver failure) and we were taken by surprise just how quickly she declined. Avon got us in right away, gave us the news we didn’t want to hear, but knew had to be done. They took us right to the ‘special room’ and the staff handled everything extremely well and with a lot of compassion - which we are forever grateful for - in a time when we were so upset and distraught and desperately needed that. There was no invoice pushing or talk of money in the moment ( they did know us well by then though), just compassionate gentle advice and direction. Their staff made an really horrible day much easier. Their cremation partner put together a thoughtful package including paw prints, lock of fur, sympathy card. I’d certainly recommend Avon as a veterinarian service for anyone in the Windsor area.

Dr. Grant adores my dogs, and of course she does, they’re awesome! We recently had to have surgery on my bulldog for a eye related birth defect. She called me after surgery to make sure that I understood the procedure. Her follow up phone call the next day was unexpected but much appreciated. I made the stupid mistake of getting my appointment times mixed up (even though they send a confirmation email) and everyone was so accommodating and still managed to squeeze me into their busy afternoon! She was kind, professional, and great with my cats who were NOT having it that day. The front desk staff were understanding and non-judgemental after my huge faux-pas so I really appreciated it! We relied on this vet hospital many years ago and when we got this recent kitten we thought we would try Avon again. Our first visit went very well and the staff were very kind and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is for new pet owners it would be helpful to have information about possible side effects due to vaccine or flea worm treatment. My kitten had a mild reaction to hers which was a new experience for us. Otherwise the visit was as expected.

Avon Animal Hospital has cared for my pets several years. My cats and dogs. In 2019 my nearly 3 year old Border Collie passed away from Canine Lymphoma. There was no place that could have taken care of him better than Avon. Not only did they care for our Fergus they cared for us, helping us in every way they could. Now we have a female Border Collie, her name is Angus, yesterday she was spayed at Avon Animal Hospital, she has been cared for there from 8 weeks old. They were wonderful with her - it's just a very good place, with very good people. Highly recommend this clinic.

Dr Sue Walker(retired)and Dr J Grant were able to console me during his passing.It was hard to make that decision but it was time. He missed meeting my next dog Cassie by a couple of weeks. I had hoped they could meet so he could assure her she would be well taken care of my her new owner & caregivers.We haven't had to make the same number of visits as Cassie is only 2&1/2, but Dr Kennedy & the crew never fail to recognize us. Can hardly express how disappointed we are with our past few trips here. We have been clients for a long long time. Things have changed here over that past year or so and not for the better. The recent care our animals have been getting has not been good. Visits have been rushed and not complete. We have had two recent mistakes with prescriptions that luckily we caught before they were administered. Then yesterday our Yorkie went in for a tooth extraction and they removed all his teeth without telling us. They have changed his life. It shows how little thought now goes into the animal care. The vet then refused to see me when I picked up the dog and they have not returned our phone calls. With so many people now with pets I guess there really isn't as much of a direct connection between good service and being busy. There has been a gradual move towards emphasis on the $$$ and away from animal welfare. We have several pets that need care due to medical conditions so we have a pretty regular schedule of visits for medications and care. So we know all the vets and staff over a long period of time. There has been a lot of turnover which seems to impact the level of care. We had been thinking of changing vets now for a few months and kick ourselves that we did not do this before our dog went in for surgery. We would never recommend them anymore. If you are thinking of going here I would look for other options. I know a few other long time clients who have expressed similar concerns and have gone elsewhere as well. This was a tough review to write but if you want the best for your pet I am now sure this is no longer the place to get that care.

AAH staff are amazing. I live over an hour away and I will alway bring my animals to them. We've had to say goodbye to 3 cats over that last five years and the vets, techs and office staff are so filled with compassion and love. Took in my cat Winston who can be nasty. They were so caring and kind and gave me great advice for his issues. He was nervous but Dr Walker was so great with him he behaved so well. Also. Had a dog Cassie who recently passed away but while she was dealing with her cancer all the staff was truly amazing... And after she passed, one of the gals made me a beautiful painting made with Cassie's paw prints. ❤️
