Since we have always had pets, one of the first things we always need to do when we move to a new city, is to find a veterinary clinic that we can trust to see our animals. Alexandria Veterinary Clinic is such a place where we trust in the care given for to our pets. We live in the Montreal area but we drive the 45 minutes to see Dr. Lalonde and her friendly staff when vaccinations are due or problems need to be sorted out with our pets. Highly recommended and reasonable fees as a bonus.

I had this clinic recommended to me by friends. It took a bit of time to weight pros and cons, particularly since I live in Ottawa and that represented a 1h drive. I must say that it was some of the best vet care I got for my dog. Diagnosed and treated what had previously been missdiagnosed by other vets (and naturally the treatments did not work). Would recommend it, even if it means a long car ride. Plus, if you live in Ottawa you can get cheaper gas on your way there.

My dog needed his leg amputated after a car accident when he was a puppy. Estimates here in Ottawa were from $1800-$3000. Alexandria vet clinic did the procedure for $1000. Dr Jacqui was great, she did an amazing job with the amputation and suturing. Before the procedure she discussed it with me for half an hour on the phone and answered any questions I had. Well worth the drive from Ottawa and I won't hestitate to use their services again.

This fantastic vet saved my dogs life 12 years ago. My dog had eaten the tape of an audio cassette and while the other vets were saying "it would pass in the stools", she found out that my dog was in fact dying. She cancelled all her appointments and proceeded an emergency surgery on the spot. My dog remained under intensive care for 6 days, but she saved him. I was told she even woke up during the night to check on him. This vet really loves animals.

We sadly had to put our beloved Maggie to "sleep" and used the services of our favorite veterinary clinic: Alexandria Veterinary Clinic. We were shown compassion and care when the procedure was performed. We were given time to spend alone and a chance to accept our loss. If you are looking for veterinary services which are professional and affordable, we highly recommend Janet and her staff. When my beloved cat, Pepper, suddenly started vomitting and stumbling, and could no longer jump, I contacted my veterinarian clinic of over 15 years only to be told me that they were too busy to see her, and if they did decide to see her, that there would be an additional $175 emergency fee. This felt awful. A family member recommended the Alexandria Veterinary Clinic, and after a quick phone call, we were on our way to an emergency appointment. Not only did Jackie and Pam diagnose Pepper as having suffered a transient toxic event that caused temporary acute ataxia, they didn't charge me any extra "emergency" fees, just standard fees. This clinic gave Pepper the attention that she needed, WHEN she needed it, and they gave me the peace of mind that I needed during a really scary time.

I was hiking in the area for first time and dog got porcupined badly in throat and mouth etc. My options were to hike 2hrs back to car or knock on a stranger’s door that was thankfully not far. Given my dog wasn’t comfortable I did the latter and met lovely dog-owning Jean-Guy who offered to drive me. He knew the more central Vet office but that vet wasn’t taking appointments and had an emergency case already. This vet kindly took my call so after Jean-Guy dropped us safely at my car downtown Alexandria we headed there. They saw us right away and the staff were very kind. What was first said to be 30min procedure took 2.5hrs and took staff beyond their closing time. Very thankful to the wonderful staff who took her in and cared for her. Their sign on the way out says something like “because pets are family”.

I had taken Spencer my 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier to have his teeth cleaned. He had a lot of tartar build up, gingivitis, bad breath and a loose tooth. I acquired him in 2018 and he already lost a tooth. Having done a lot of research online and called various clinics within Ottawa and outlining areas for teeth cleaning prices, they were over $1200 plus. The print out charges I received from 2 Veterinary Clinics in Ottawa was huge (I felt some of these charges weren't legitimate), buyer beware. I was even considering going to the U.S. Ogdensburg Town & Country Veterinary Clinic. When I call Alexandria Veterinary Clinic, it was so much affordable. Spencer had 4 teeth removed and came home with antibiotics and pain medication. He recovered quickly. I was so very happy with the results. His teeth are nice and white. In order to keep his pearly white, we've been keeping up with his daily brushing.

They were decent people, and they seemed experienced. But, not everyone is a veterinarian. They should have taken their time to give me information about the shots they were giving my dog, and the symptoms to expect. It cost about 200$ for a shot and a nail clipping. I think that amount should cover, checking temperature and some time to ask questions at the end of the check-up.

Hands down best vet I've ever been to! My dog went in to have teeth removed a couple months ago and was treated like royalty. Janet and her staff do not do things unnecessarily to increase your bill like every single other vet I've been to (in Ottawa & Mtl) , it was GREATLY APPRECIATED. I left paying a fraction of what I was quoted in Ottawa and Montreal, Chilula was out of surgery within 2 hours and I've never seen her this happy!!!! She is a new dog! Janet left a few teeth in so that her tongue wouldn't flop out but I've never seen her bite and play this much! Wish I could post a photo of her little tongue blep that sticks out of the side of her mouth when she's sleeping. Love love love this vet!

Brought my pug there for a teeth cleaning. Although they are an hour outside of town it was well worth it. They charged a very reasonable price for the procedure when multiple vets in Montreal were quoting over $1000 dollars for the same procedure. Very professional staff and I saved hundreds of dollars so we are very pleased with the whole experience. I would definitely recommend them if your dog needs any oral cleaning.

The vets are great here and the prices are affordable, but the older receptionist is beyond rude. I took my puppy to get neutered and she had no warm greeting for him, instead getting annoyed that he was excited and tried to jump up when he saw her. I said he may need a sedative because he is very active and she said "I can see that." I said I felt bad for him being so awkward in a large cone and she said owners should not feel bad for their dogs, and her dog "had to wear a cone for a month and she felt nothing. People feel bad for their dogs when they shouldn't." She gave my puppy back and while walking him outside (curbside pickup) she looked like she was struggling and unimpressed. I am 6 months pregnant and had to lift him into my car as he was stilll under sedation effects and she offered me no assistance, instead making a comment "that's as far as he got?". I'm sure the surgery went well but this receptionist left a very sour taste, and it's not the first time.

Due to COVID-19 related setbacks, we were unable to find veterinary care anywhere in town for our dearest cat, Maya. Her condition was terminal and she needed help urgently. When no other veterinary clinic was able to see her, with the assistance of the Maxville Veterinary Clinic, the Alexandria Veterinary Clinique booked an appointment first thing the very next morning. Sadly, Maya was suffering too much and needed to be euthanized right away. I am so grateful for the exceptionally warm and compassionate treatment Maya received in her last moments with me. The entire staff were so caring, gentle and understanding. They sent our family a lovely condolence card which the staff members thoughtfully singed personally, and when we opened the card, we found Maya's little paw print on a card inserted inside. This kindness meant more to my family than I can express. There is no other Veterinary clinic with whom I would entrust my pets, more. They truly understand that our pets are family members. I can't thank them enough for making our loss of Maya more bearable.
