I am fairly new to Kingsway. They have undergone some changes since I first visited, and they all seem for the better. The staff seem to love what they do and show compassion, even on difficult days. They are slow and respectful with my one shy cat and playful with my other. They included my kids in the exam by letting them listen to my cats heart; the kids don't worry when Chewy has to visit his friends down the hill :-) I highly recommend them!

I have been going to kingsway for a few years now and I wouldn't recommend any other vet in Hamilton. I have two senior dogs, both with very different temperaments. One is gentle but terrified of vets, the other is extremely excitable, absolutely loves the vet, but is difficult to keep still. Both personalities are handled very well by both Dr Bombin and Dr Schad. Both of them are compassionate, through and understanding when doing their work and are clearly very flexible when dealing with different personalities. They take their time with each animal and their care shows; Evidenced by my anxious girl being far calmer there than anywhere else and my excitable girl thinking that the vet is the best place ever. When we pass by on walks she tries to drag me there. The rest of the staff are equally competent and compassionate, from the front desk to the back room. Everyone genuinely cares and will bend over backward in order to accommodate your needs. People here are saying that the prices are higher here than other places. Perhaps this is true but I would not know. Aside from the after hours vet downtown and some specialists, I wouldn't even consider going elsewhere. Look no further, this is the vet for you.

After a year of using VCA Canada Kingsway as our main vet, we are switching to a new clinic. While the vet techs and receptionists at VCA Kingsway have been friendly and provided great customer service, a botched procedure and a severe misdiagnosis have lead us to leave. Our dog, Teddy, presented with vomiting and lethargy, and was misdiagnosed with pancreatic issues. He continued to decline over a period of 2 weeks and it wasn't until that point that the vet recommended Xrays. Upon review, the vet said it didn't look like there was anything in his stomach or intestines but they couldn't be sure. A day later they said it appears there may be something small in his intestines. We were advised surgery was needed but they couldn't do it because they were booked up. They said they would call around to find somewhere he could go and they called Hamilton Regional Emergency Vet. All the while, Teddy is getting worse and worse - so we start calling HREV ourselves, and turns out they are trying to get in touch with Kingsway but no one will get back to them! After prompting Kingsway at every step of the way to respond to HREV with the necessary documents/Xrays, we get Teddy in for surgery the same day. The vet at HREV takes one look at the Xrays Kingsway had taken and says that he has a MASSIVE blockage and they need to operate immediately - they check his fluids (which Kingsway said were fine) and find that he is dehydrated. They perform surgery and find that Teddy swallowed an entire bungy cord, and it was looped in his stomach and all the way through his intestines almost all the way to his colon. We don't own any bungy cords and can't think of where he got one, but we are thrilled the vets at HREV were able to remove it and stitch him back up well. They took great care of him post surgery. If we had stayed at Kingsway, Teddy would not have made it. Add to this that a few months before they botched his neutering surgery (he ended up with severe swelling, fluid build up, bleeding at the site and it took him 4 weeks instead of the usual 2 to recover), and we are done with Kingsway. When we called to inform Kingsway we would be switching vets, they didn't even ask why - I'm guessing they know why or the vet tech is used to people leaving this vet. I normally never leave negative reviews but this situation is so awful that we felt we needed to share so others can make educated decisions about their pets health. TL;DR: VCA Canada Kingsway misdiagnosed my dog so severely he almost died, was slow to transfer information to the emerg vet who saved his life, and botched his neutering surgery.

Just wanted to leave a review and thank the staff at Kingsway. The staff have always been so fantastic with my little guy. They helped us figure out that he was Diabetic and always gave him such love and care. Yesterday I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my cat... Not something I was planning to do but they comforted myself and my girls. They ensured Osiris was comfortable as we said our goodbyes. They explained our options and what was best for him and as much as it hurt I had to agree. I couldn't have given him a better set up so thank you to all of you at such a caring animal hospital. It's never easy to leave your companion but know that they'll give them the best in their final moments.

They are educated, compassionate and respect my financial circumstances by helping me prioritize my pets care. They know just how to handle my dogs, physically and socially, when they come in. I started going to VCA after not being impressed with my former vet, they have been absolutely amazing. They were able to see my cat quickly, described everything over the phone very clearly after getting tests back, and have followed up with me several times, with the vet offering suggestions and a care plan for my cat. I love this place! I have been coming here for years with my cats and dogs. I have always loved the ladies who have worked here and helped me over these years. It's always an inviting place, small and quaint. I always receive excellent customer service and they are wonderful with my animals. Pricing is fair too. They are flexible and willing to work with me. It's recently become wheelchair accessible with a ramp to the front door. Only downside is their parking lot is small. I highly recommend this place.

I had to out my cat down who was ten years old and I've had literally since the day she was born the stray mother left her as the runt and my ex wife saved her and nursed her back to health. The she fell in love with me and followed me everywhere I got to keep her in the divorce. It was heartbreaking to put her down but the staff was very caring and helpful.

I was extrwmely impreased by the staff here at VCA , Even with all the COVID restriction they were quick to get me in with a same day appointment when I thought my pup got into aomething that could potenially harm him, I apreciated that they took their patients health seriously and had the place clean and free of traffic. . Not only was the staff considerate but the Vet was more then comforting, she handledy my pup with such care and respect and also was very informivtive letting me know what she was doing and why. Plus she took into consideration my financial situation and didnt charge me an arm and a leg. I was expecting a $300 bill, when I saw the $80 bill .. I was not only thankful but reliefed because I knew that I found the right Vet to take all my animals to and would recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for quality care for their furbabies

I have been bringing my boys to Kingsway since they were neutered. They are now 10 years old, both boys love their vet, and they are treated exceptionally well. Before every appointment, the vet (previously Dr. Kaitie, now Dr. Bomben and Dr. Schad) always greets my boys with smiles and a caring voice; frequently calling them Handsome and giving them treats to welcome them. They are so gentle with them, especially Pippin who is exceptionally skittish and anxious. Recently, Pippin had to go in for extensive dental surgery. He had post-surgery complications and they IMMEDIATELY got me in to check on him, which was right at closing time. Even the secondary post op surgery was smooth, and Pippin is thriving. I would recommend this place to anyone. They genuinely care for their clients and will do everything they can to help.

This is my first dog so I have a lot of questions and anxieties and the staff here are incredible! Not only do they take great care of my puppy (they are gentle, kind, and compassionate with her always) they are always available to answer my questions and set my mind at ease. Most recently my puppy wasn't eating and I called to ask what to do and the receptionist set my mind at ease and told me exactly what to do to tempt her back to eating and it worked perfectly. If you're looking for a vet clinic that really cares about your family from front desk to vet actual then look no further as this is a wonderful clinic!

If you love your pets DO NOT bring them here! They wanted to charge me $2,000 for a $300 minor operation! Then they told me they had no control over the price and the veterinarians association controlled the pricing. I called the Vets Association and they told me that Kingsway lied to me, and they set there own prices! My dog is gone because the price was devastating and by the time I found out the truth it was too late. Hey Kingsway animal hospital don't bother contacting me about My posting cause I will write more about you nasty bunch of people! It's best to go out of town for a fair price!

I have been a client now for 9yrs, and I should have shared this much earlier. Words cannot express my gratitude towards Kingsway Animal Hospital. The ultimate personal care and compassion that Kingsway shows is far above the average pet care facility. Whenever and whatever I call for, my dog Breeze is taken in at the earliest convenience, most times they are ready to accept her quicker than I can get her there. My dog unfortunately goes into panic mode at the first sign of vehicle travel, and upon arrival, of course creates chaos in the waiting room... however there is no wait, or at least very little. Even when attending situations with other pets, the Dr. is quick to come and lend a comforting hand to my Breeze. Recently worked through confusing allergic infections, My dog is now a puppy again, clean and clear, so full of energy. It's a facility that just knows how much our pets really mean to us. Amazing service, very friendly staff, they managed to get mats out of cat's (Tigger's) hair that we had attempted to prevent him from getting and tried very hard to brush him constantly but unfortunately they still managed to appear and we could not get them out ourselves as they were too close to his skin. They managed to get rid of them all and most without shaving and he seems extremely happy to have them out and for a very reasonable price at that. I was very stressed and worried about her undergoing surgery to remove a fatty lipoma and they were both so great with her. 2 1/2 lbs. later she is truly like a new dog! I can't thank you enough.

The clinic was clean, and the vet timely and thorough. The vet gave my dogs a complete exam head to toe. It was refreshing not to be cajoled ( not that I get persuaded easily). into useless or marginal testing seemingly looking for something. The vet had a "old country vet" feel to her approach which I find a nice change to newer "small animal vets" who seem to over diagnose and over test IMHO! As a general comment, why are vets always pushing flea meds... for maintenance... especially in the middle of winter. I use flea meds on a as needed basis.. Not a fan of filling my doggo's with poison ... just in case! To be clear this vet did not push flea meds on me in the middle of winter. The receptionist was not very friendly; when making the appointment or during check in... kinda seemed her day was being interrupted by me both times. If you can get past a grumpy receptionist.. I can recommend this vet clinic. Ask for Dr Catherine. Over and out

Let's just say I hope your pet isn't fearful of vet visit and reacts poorly because these people will treat you & your pet poorly to the point of refusing to vaccinate your pet unless you muzzle him even if the poor reaction from your dog was due to the fear of being muzzled. They will not stand by your side in need if an incident occurs. I thought this vet would be top notch because of the prices they charge but they are in fact the opposite, they only care about the money not you or your pet. I will never take any of my fur baby's to this clinic again nor will I recommend them to anyone. They had me fooled for 5 years, good luck to anyone who trusts this veterinarian. Some may notice that the last response on here from anyone at this clinic was 2 years ago so what does that tell you....DO THEY CARE WHAT YOU THINK.... I think not.

The staff here were fantastic. My wife just recently brought our cat Dobby in who was literally living his last breaths. He died on the table but they were very sympathetic, performed CPR, and even followed up with a handwritten card from all of their staff(!!) in the mail a week later. Very thrilled with the service we got here during a very difficult time of losing a pet. These guys made a rough week better. Highly recommend

Loved my experience with this vet (Dr Bomben.) Both the vet and the receptionist were very nice and clearly genuinely fond of animals. The Dr in particular was very empathetic and caring with the freaked out furry one, and handled her deftly. It could be because I am used to Toronto prices but I didn't consider the charges to be high -- about $80 for the visit, medications were additional, so about $240 all up. The Dr clipped the patient's nails, cleaned the gunk out of her ears, and gave the human general advice on what to watch out for/ how to continue with a variety of concerns for no additional charge. It's only been a few days but already there is a marked improvement in my cat's skin, fur, and overall health, which I feel is all the proof I need. I think I've just found my new vet. (And this is high praise indeed, the vet we used to go to when still in Toronto was/is stellar, and I was really feeling his loss; but it seems to me Dr Bomben is our new go-to doc.)

I used to love this vet. HOWEVER if you are ever in an emergency situation with your dog they WILL NOT make time for you. Ideally we want our beloved pets to see the same vet for consistency of their medical history. VCA WILL NOT DO THIS FOR YOU. The receptionist had ZERO compassion!!! Offered NO assistance what so ever. This is a more expensive vet - which im happy to pay for good care, i DO NOT consider this good care!! GIven the price and how youre treated DO NOT take your pet here!!!!!

Placed a call about my cat that had stopped eating and was able to have her seen immediately. They gave her an external AND internal examination and my cat with her usually bad attitude didn't even bite. Blood work and a needle to rehydrate the poor thing. That was Monday. Recieved the results Wednesday morning. Severe diabetic. She goes back in this afternoon to start on needles for the condition and will need shots twice daily there on. Extremely efficient and pet friendly! Thank you, Kingsway.
