The vet who came to my house to euthanize my sweet cat made a horrible event even worse. He was rushed, unprofessional and did not bring necessary equipment with him. Things he did and said made the event something I will take to my grave with great sadness.

We brought our cat in to see Dr. Ahn concerning a bunch of issues. Turns out she had fleas, required a steroid shot, was under weight etc. The doctor claimed she heard a stage 3 heart murmur when listening to her heart, so, naturally she suggested we get bloodwork/an ECG to see what was wrong. $1500 later, there was nothing wrong with my cat at all. I am so annoyed by this whole situation! We were told we'd have an answer the next day after her ECG. It took all of Friday/Saturday/Sunday and Monday to get an answer. I ONLY got an answer after calling and speaking to the receptionist and telling her she needed to follow up with the cardiologist. These people make $700 per ECG, how do they not have time to follow up with concerned pet owners?! We should also point out that a very quick Google search told us that ANY animal can exhibit signs of a heart murmur when they are stressed out. How did the doctor not know this? There is tons of literature and evidence to show that if you allow an animal to calm down while in the office, THEN take their heart rate, the signs of a murmur might go away entirely. I honestly feel this whole ECG was a cash grab. I will be pursuing a refund for the ECG at this point. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've been here about three times. And will be visiting again. I have two cats. One which is 6, Pickles, and another which is 12 or 13 (DoB unknown), Jackie. Pickles was peeing around my apartment and my partner and I suspected something may be up. We took her to the vet and found out it was ideopathic systitus. I've seen reviews on here for how the vet may "manhandle" the cat. What I saw when I went to the vet was precision hand motions to get a task done for a cat in the least amount of unpleasant time. Giving a cat a pill is hard hard work and distressing for a cat. The vet "manhandled" my cat professionally and was very very efficient in giving pills to her. I prefer him doing it over myself. I also brought Jackie in. She's a Norwegian Forest cat with a life expectancy of 15 years. She's 12 or 13 and her age was showing. The vet discovered she was near 100% blind, was underweight, and was seeing a lot of the same problems that were making us concerned. He described our cat as having blindness from high blood pressure which caused the retinas to detach, the blood pressure increase was from her kidneys not processing as they should. They discovered that her left cheek was swollen and that she had pus building up behind a tooth which would need to be removed. We also thought she had hyperthyroidism which we began bloodwork on. Its a long list of problems, but Jackie is an old cat for her breed. I'm off today to go see the vet again. His visits are really good. The staff, as many people have said, are very nice and welcoming. The vet here is very skilled at his job and is also very good at working with people.

Terrible experience with this “doctor”. He was very uncaring and cold and gave me terrible advice and information - that proved itself to be utterly wrong. I’ve been to a lot of vets, and came to this one as it was very last minute and they had a spot available, and regret it immensely. Do NOT take your small animals here. Front desk was very kind, and I have nothing bad to say about them. EDIT: Further details regarding the visit: I was told me all my other rats (5) would (not maybe, he was CERTAIN) contract the respiratory infection and die. (They didn’t) I was offered no medication/advice for them - on top of being told it was pointless to try and give the baby I brought in medication. I was belittled for giving my rat a yogurt drop during her final hours, being told it’s like giving her “100 cheeseburgers” (if you’re a rat owner, this will make you laugh.) - as an experienced rat owner the visit left me and my partner appalled and we continue to warn everyone we know to NOT bring small animals here. This 5 min visit cost over $100.

Never in my life have I ever been more insulted by a stranger. I was calling..simply calling, to inquire about prices for having my cat spayed. I am honestly just wondering how much it's going to cost to have my cat fixed. The man on the phone was rude from the beginning and at the end of the conversation told me that he couldn't help me, and being worried about the price should be the last thing on my mind. He also said that this clinic was better off without my business and there are many other clinics that would be better suited for me. What in the actual hell? Lets prejudge and dismiss over 500$ worth of business.

Support staff are all friendly and welcoming. They help make you feel at ease even in a nerve-wracking situation. Dr. Melissa Hardy is beyond excellent. She is very warm and her love for her animal patients is palpable. I would highly recommend her and if it were only her and the support staff this would be a 5 star review. However, their other doctor is competent... but extremely rude and uncaring. I brought my cat in due to an emergency, and he yelled at me because I was upset and asked him to be gentle with my cat because he was in a lot of pain. He left the room in a tantrum. Extremely childish behaviour from a so called professional. I am glad my poor cat was sedated for most of that particular visit, because this man treated him like a sandbag. Hauled him around by the skin on his back- not the loose neck skin. If you've ever accidentally done this to a non-sedated cat then you know they would yowl in pain. Sedation is no excuse for laziness and cruelty. He took a two hour lunch break in the midst of not only my own animal's emergency, but several others as well. If a medical doctor displayed this type of behaviour to his patients they would simply be fired. This man seems to resent animals and the fact that they occasionally get sick or injured as opposed to Dr. Hardy's obvious love and care. If he happens to be working, turn around and leave unless you have absolutely no other option.

Staff are friendly and courteous.. I believe Mr. Mogavero, you need to be a little more compassionate about concerns when they are being addressed to you .. I agreed to delete my review about Miss Julie and her dog as I was not present or witnessed what happened. Maybe in future you can consider having a waiver drawn up for pet parent to have the option to bypass having expensive tests done before re-prescribing him the medication he had already been taking for the past year. My issues is really when Cali needed to be stitched up 3 times after her mass was removed. She had done nothing but sit on the front lawn all day with her cone on, on pain meds for the most part . little walking as directed and still 3 times she had to be brought back in 6 weeks (10 weeks of healing) (and every time paid for) A very reliable vet tech who lives on our street motioned twice that "those staples were NOT going to hold" I may not know how much your vendors charge you for your equipment "staples, anesthesia, pain meds" as you mentioned to me on the phone, but we, as the customer pay YOUR FEE as well as the markup for the items you use. That is just business.. I get it, but please refrain from speaking like this again.. You are a good vet just a little bit "stand offish" .

Terrible bedside manner, and when complaints were made against him he wastes time and tax payers money making false complaints to animal control! His lack of care and compassion is obvious right from the start and comments from other past patrons tell the exact same story. Don't waste time , breath or your pets health on this clinic. Our 8 year old mix had been to a variety of vets over the years when we lived in BC, but Dr. Mogavero was able to find an undiagnosed problem and it's like she's a puppy again. We're so grateful and can't recommend them highly enough.

When I first got my Dog, I took him to the sister Vet of the Downtown Animal Hospital, up the mountain at the Mohawk Animal Clinic. I live very close to the Downtown Animal Hospital and was not yet aware of my dogs fear and car sickness from car rides. So I transferred here to the Downtown Animal Hospital. My first few visits to this place were fine, I felt quite rushed and could never ask all the questions I wanted to, even when I wrote them down and told the Vet that I had the list and wanted to ask him about a few things. But our last visit, my dog and I were treated terribly. It was a few months ago now, when the weather was extremely hot. There was an older dog who had an accident inside the doors and they asked me to wait outside - no problem complaining understandable! I informed one of the vets assistants that my dog has fleas, which I told them about on the phone, and my dog had been treated for fleas here over a year ago, my dog and I were not treated like dirt because of this the first time around with the fleas, we were brought inside and put in a room and they would disinfect the room when we left. But no not this time, we were absolutely not allowed inside. We were told to wait in the blazing heat outdoors; 28degrees Celsius weather, offered no water (thankfully I brought my own) and we were not seen by anyone for at least 30 mins. The vet finally came to ask me why I brought my dog in today, to which I replied, my dog needs his shot boosters, he has a fungal nail infections on a few of his toes, and I’d like to get some Bravecto for his fleas. My dog is a little furnado and the vet has told me everytime I come that I should get my dog fixed because he’s so hyper. He loves people, he gets excited around them, he’s a dog. I don’t need to pay for something I can’t afford, simply because I have a hyper dog lol.. So I knew in advance that the vet always rushes me. So I took pics of the fungal infection on my dogs nails. He couldn’t see the pics very well because were still outside in the blistering heat… and he completely dismissed my dogs nail issue and did not prescribe him anything for it, even though my bill was $600, and I was charged for the mess they had to clean up from the previous dog, as my dog DEFINITELY DID NOT do any of his “business” on the property. I’ll absolutely be looking for another vet that is hopefully in walking range, but if I can’t, I’ll definitely be asking friends with fur babies for some recommendations.

I recently moved to Hamilton and found Downtown Animal Hospital. I needed to buy food here for my cats special diet. They were extremely helpful and even helped me bring the food to my car. They also have extremely reasonable prices (bags or cases of food are buy 10 get the 11th free which adds up especially if you are spending hundreds of dollars on food each month). I will definitely recommend this location to anyone in the area and will be taking my cats here for any health needs.

WORST VET I've ever experienced!!!! So many complaints.. not sure where to begin. *Money hungry Vet that doesn't even take the time to ask your pet's name or give proper thorough care in a regular vet visit. * Be warned this vet will accuse you of animal cruelty and threaten to report you if you don't take him up on his very expensive care options. Will use bullying and shaming tactics to try and get you to spend ridiculous amounts of money. *Could seriously do without the open door, glass walled operating room that is clearly visible from everywhere in the facility. Shocked that this is even happening. The poor pup splayed open on the operating table for strangers to look on... talk about undignified treatment. *Only redeeming quality, the receptionist is very lovely and clearly cares about animals. Mr. Mogavero should take some lessons from his staff in how to run a business! Advice - save yourself the heartache and wallet gauging -- stay clear of this vet.

I give four stars to the vet, but only three for the charge of 145 for a ten min visit for our pet gerbil. He was given medication for an infection which we are greatful gave him life back into him in that time. The medication was $48, but not enough to save him. I believe he developed sepsis in the last week because he developed a permanent tremor. The poor thing took his last three breaths in terror and passed. He was old and just lost his brother not long before so that was a factor too. Wish it wasn't so expensive, maybe I could have paid for more medication. But I was well prepared for his death and don't regret what I could spend on the little guy. He will be missed.

I had a Vet appointment today at the Downtown Animal Hospital located at 780 King St. E. in Hamilton. I took 3 cats, Puffy, Moop, and Nellie. Nellie being the cat that needed the most help. I had asked for reviews of the hospital. Most notably was the expense factor. Yes, they are somewhat expensive, I will not argue that. However, they are also flexible. I went for flea treatments and an exam for Nellie. Nellie will be on steroids for the next 20 days and has a flea treatment for 90 days. Puffy and Moop just need the flea treatment, both for 90 days. They suggested that I apply the treatment saving me some money. So all tolled, for 3 cats (1 exam, 3 flea treatments (3 mos each), 20 days of steroids (liquid), and a can of flea and egg spray, the total came to under $300. Which I found to be reasonable, even on ODSP. The receptionist, nurses, and vet were all pleasant. They helped explained what was wrong with Nellie, what needed to be done, and how to apply the flea treatment as well as how to give the steroids. They treated all the cats kindly, even The Most Miserable One - Puffy. I can't recall the vet's name (sorry) but she was a young female vet (sorry for assuming gender lol). When it came time to pay there was a problem with my debit card. Which stressed me out beyond belief, let me tell you. They did their best to help me resolve the issue, even agreeing to a e-transfer if necessary (which is not normally an option). Thankfully TD pulled through and got my card to work in the end. From the interactions they had with other pets and owners while I was there, they seem like a very good animal hospital. I would give them a 4/5 star rating, only losing a star due to the costs. Other vets charge less for consultations / exams but this location is close to me which helps due to my particular, peculiar disabilities. I understand that this is the kind of experience that may vary from person to person, but I just thought I'd let people know that it is a good animal hospital. I absolutely will go again. P.S. they have an awesome tabby that wanders the premises. I missed out on the chance to pet him :( But he looked like an awesome guy. :D

The vet is poorly informed on some animal health issues, and has poor people skills. He's been disagreeable every time I've brought my animal in over the past three years. I only went because Downtown Animal Hospital is local to me, but since every time I came away from there, I felt like I'd just been disrespected and bullied, I took my fur-baby elsewhere. My pet and I had to visit Downtown Animal Hospital in an emergency recently, and I truly regret that I didn't risk taking the extra bit of time to bring her to the vet we now regularly see. Once again I came away from Downtown Animal Hospital feeling like I'd just been sandblasted with utter disdain, and I didn't even have much interaction with Dr. G. He's just that disagreeable. We're much happier with a new vet who cares about the animals, is cheaper, is personable with great staff (the staff at Downtown Animals Hospital is fine; it's the vet that's the problem), and knows his stuff.

Bear my dog is thee most important person in my life. So, I choose Dr Michael very carefully. We have been going for our annual checks for the last four years. Service has always been top notch, responsive, honest and delivered with so, much heart from all the staff. We have to use the Emergency Services at Mohawk Clinic their sister clinic a couple of times. Once for a upset tummy. The second time for a serious infection and they truly treated us all like family. A very expensive surgery was in the cards and when I said ai felt things were getting better they paused the surgery. Did a re exam and he was given the all clear , the antibiotics had worked their magic. Bear always goes willingly even giving them a little tail wag. So they get Bears paw of approval. They have my heartfelt gratitude for caring for my best pal.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with any Vet. The man there should not be a vet as his manner is rude cold uncaring and unfeeling. He handles the cats with no care what so ever. After a large bill I felt like here leave your money and and get lost. If you care about your animal at all never bring it to this company and especially to the man Vet there. I will never go back to this place or the Main Street west one which is the sister company and I there is one in dundurn. I will never ever go to any one related to it or this one especially.

It was my first time visiting the hospital with my new puppy and I had such a great experience! The vet was so kind and he answered all my questions with such care and patience. He was very informative with much knowledge about puppies and dogs. I felt very anxious about having a such young puppy with no experience but after visiting the downtown animal hospital I feel more confident about raising my puppy. I recommend you to visit this animal hospital if you are from Hamilton.

My dog was having explosive diarrhea and my regular vet clinic wouldn't have been able to see him until the evening of the next day. As I was too worried to wait that long I called this clinic and they were able to get me in the very same day, within a couple hours. Dr. Ahn was very thorough and kind, and was able to treat the diarrhea and had my guy feeling better in no time. Very thankful for the prompt service and great experience. :)

DO NOT TAKE GUINEA PIGS HERE so my guinea pigs were fine yesterday, but very sick today, took them in, one didnt even make it there. the other one was very sick, he looked at her for maybe 10 seconds, tried to say shes skinny (890 grams is almost overweight for a female of her age, my little chubber) told me to give her these vitamin c nuggets, which i did, but she very obviously had an upper resp infection. he manhandled my furbaby and treated me and my boyfriend like children, no tact at all. both of my furbabies are dead now, with the second being due to his lack of care with her, if she had gotten proper treatment, my baby pickles would still be here.

The vet is very knowledgeable and helpful, my boyfriend and I have taken our pets here a couple of times and every time they have been very helpful and efficient. The other staff, such as the secretary, are also very knowledgeable and helpful and genuinely seem to care about the animals that enter their clinic. I saw some older reviews saying that the vet "manhandles" some of the animals but from what I've observed, he doesn't do anything like that and handles them very expertly and quickly in a way that some people aren't used to seeing or may interpret as "manhandling", but really, he treats the animals with a lot of precision and care. The clinic has an overall caring and welcoming atmosphere and I will definitely come here again.

Vet claims to take in exotic pets but as soon as you get there says he is "no expert" out right had no idea what he was talking about. Gave me a diet sheet for my very obviously dieing bearded dragon and told me to go to the reptile store down the street because they knew more than him. I was just referred to the Downtown Animal Clinic by friends. What a fantastic experience, the office is calm and friend the staff is so helpful and kind and the doctor takes his time with the animal and the animal's parent. My dog needed surgery and I got an appointment very quickly. After the surgery and after detailed instructions we went home. The Doctor took the time to call and check on Charlie several times on the same day and the day after. . I highly recommend this clinic as well, my friends tell me that his other clinic, The Mohawk Animal Clinic is equally good.

I took my cat here today and the doctor was very aggressive with him right off the bat. Squeezing his stomach (which we already told him was hurting) till my cat winced and wined in pain.... That should have been enough for me to take him home but I had faith as the reviews seem very good. So I paid almost $500 to get blood work and an x Ray done but 10 minutes after I left, I got I call saying I need to come pick him up because “my cat was dangerous” (even though I have taken him to plenty of other vets over the years and they have been completely fine with him) When I picked him up he was hissing which he never does unless he gets really nervous ???? I noticed there was hair missing from his neck and back. That would be fine but it isn’t shaven.. It’s been pulled out. This make me so sad that any one would do this to any animal. My baby at that. (when I left I ask for a refund and they said there receptionist was leaving so I will not be able to get a refund) I know Mr. Mogavero will respond to this review yet again in an abusive manor. Thankfully our fur baby has been treated at another local vet and animal control and spca have been made aware of the abuse that goes on at this clinic.

We had our dog looked at from an emergency vet centre locally and they told us that our dog had blood in the abdomen and he needed emergency surgery that would cost us 8000+ depending on the specifics of what was wrong when he was operated on. This was heartbreaking news because we weren't sure if our dog would even make it with the operation. So we brought him home and I immediately started calling other vets in the area to see if someone would operate on him for a more reasonable price. We were recommended Downtown Animal Hospital from the Mohawk Animal Clinic. We explained our scenario and the vet immediately gave us an option to do surgery that night. We are so grateful for him and all he did to save our dog. He ended up having a bleed in his spleen which was successfully removed. I can't thank the vet enough and the ladies at the front desk for the kindness and putting our dogs needs first. Thank you for not giving up on our dog Cujo! He is continuing to enjoy his car rides and trips to Tim Hortons for timbits, we have Downtown Animal Hospital to thank for that!

I goofed and left my snake in the tank with a live rat and the rat bit my snake in several spots, 1 of them pretty severe. After a week and a half of trying home care I conceded that she needed a vet, at the very least, for antibiotics. I called 4 clinics before I found Dr. Mogavero. While it was clearly communicated to me that he wasn't a herpetologist, he just had a special interest in pocket pets, I deemed this was my best chance at getting my snake some needed medical attention without having to travel an hour out of town. I have not been disappointed. Dr. Mogavero cleaned the wounds, gave me solutions and antibiotic creams to take home (at reasonable prices - the price is comparable to what I found on Amazon for the cleaning solution, which I was not able to find on a shelf in any store and flamizine must only be available by prescription 'cause I've never seen it but it was a dollar more than what I paid for Polysporin), he answered all my questions, when he didn't immediately know the answer for my more complicated questions, he researched my question and provided me with the answers he found. He took great care of my snek, provided me with sound advice for how to keep caring for the wounds, showed me how to do the injections myself because and I quote "I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I charged you $50 every time she needs a shot" and sent me home with the first bottle of antibiotics and a couple syringes free of charge. For the 2nd batch of antibiotics I needed, the tech, Claire I think, separated them into smaller vials so I could freeze what I wasn't using right away to reduce my back and forth to the clinic and my cost at continued purchase of antibiotics. Keep in mind that I realized in time that my snake needed professional medical care; I didn't wait until she was on death's doorstep. Shame on anyone waiting until their pet is beyond help and then blaming the vet. Vets have a hard enough job without being unfairly blamed for the demise of a pet brought in too late to be helped. Dr. Mogavero is the only vet I found in the Hamilton area who is willing to work on a snake, which is amazing in and of itself. I found him very helpful, knowledgeable in wound care, and accommodating (this is all going down during a global pandemic). Alene (I'm sorry if I got your name wrong!! cause you were amazing) was extremely friendly and relatable with her experience owning snakes. I would definitely recommend this clinic.

Our four legged fur baby named Penny (canine) tore her ACL and the surgery dates we were given were for over a month away. I called everywhere and have never been more thankful to have ended up calling Dr.Mogavero and his wonderful staff at the Downtown Animal Hospital. They were so compassionate, understanding and responsive. Within a few hours of calling, we had a surgery date in less than a week! They took such amazing care of her and us. I've heard numerous stories from good friends who have been hugely overcharged or even charged twice for the same procedure. I've heard of Dr. Mogavero's callous disregard for the well-being of the animals put in his charge and also numerous reports of his arrogance and rudeness towards customers. Despite the Doctor's protestations, I've also been assured that this operation is concerned only about the money that it takes from worried, loving pet owners and not the well-being of its patients. I just made the switch and my experience was amazing! First, I only went in for a general checkup and the woman who came to get my dog already picked up on an ear issue that I may have overlooked. Thank goodness she did! Next, the vet definitely knew his stuff! He is brutally honest and very informative. What really surprised me was that I got a follow up call the next day to make sure that all of my questions were answered! I’ve never had that before! They really take their time to ensure all of your needs are met and they provide you with top notch care and knowledge! 10/10 would recommend!!

I do not recommend this place at all. I got 2 foster cats that I care very deeply about. Had them fixed. I did not want to give them medication afterwords if they did not need it, as I’ve had problems in the past with other animals. The lady there explained that it was an OPTION to buy the pain medication to begin with. Never once said to 100% give it to them, just a recommendation but told me I could wait to see how they act. So I did just that. I waited, by day 2, the one was feeling off. I gave him the pain meds. He threw up all day/this morning. When calling CONCERNED, I get transferred to the vet who is unbelievably rude! Calls me a liar, that I wasn’t told those directions. I don’t care if this place has to deal with bad people all the time but that does not mean that you treat people with ignorance without knowing who you are talking to. I love these cats and the LAST thing I want, is for them to be sick. Never have I experienced such terrible service. I will not be going here again and 100% recommend you go to another clinic. Makes me wonder what is happening behind closed doors if their own vet is that ignorant!

Very unprofessional Vet! I took my dog (retriever) in for a check up because her back legs were wobbly and she couldn't jump up on any furniture which she always did! All he said was that she is overweight and gave her an anti-inflammatory. Did not give her a proper examination. Took her to a different vet and it was a disk in her back! NEXT TIME FULLY EXAM A PET BEFORE SENDING IT HOME. I strongly recommend finding a different place for your pets. The end result is that I lost my beloved dog, when this condition could have been caught long before she suffered in pain.

I can't express enough my praise for the staff and level of care my pet received at the Downtown Animal Hospital. Their kindness and compassion go far beyond what they demonstrate to the animals in their care...they extend that care to the owners as well. Let me explain... I arrived at the clinic a sobbing mess. My beautiful boy.... my seriously ill 15 yr old cat, KitKat, seemed near death's door. I couldn't imagine losing him. The amazing staff kept me fully informed of the costs/options/treatments needed in a sympathetic and comforting environment. KitKat has faced a series of health threats over the past year and, with skillful diagnoses and care, has been nursed back to health. Yesterday I went to this animal hospital to humanly end the pain of our 7 year old leopard gecko after having a very grossly swollen leg for over a month, to not moving, or responding, not eating or having bowel movements, she was suffering. She was very loved and cared for given the proper diet and vitamin supplements. Our gecko loved calcium with vit D3 ate dusted crickets often. We agonized over the decision to end her pain for a long time. She was to the vet in Aldershot earlier in Oct. had ex-rays was prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory which she took for weeks but she stopped eating and having bowel movements. In fact we took her to the vet in Aldershot twice. We then took her to the reptile store as we know the girl who works there she gave much the same input as vet accept gave some more insight as to how amazingly diverse these reptiles are, that she may even drop the affected limb eventually as they do their tails. Upon getting there yesterday the receptionist was very sympathetic to what we were going through. However the vet was not after examining our gecko he came out and very rudely started to asking questions about our care and efforts for our pet, and that this was just untreated MBD. Of course MBD was discussed in Aldershot and we were treating that possibility by giving her more calcium and D3, other than the UVB light we had done everything. And even if it was MBD maybe we didn't want her to live that way. I answered every question knowing full well we had done what we should and could to save our pet. I would recommend this clinic for the receptionist she really understood our pain in letting our pet go. The vet on the other hand was completely rude and insensitive I would not recommend this clinic for his bedside manner

After bringing my senior dog here for about 5 years, I now realize they could not care less about him, they are 100% about THE MONEY only. Just a side note..my 1 dog had ear surgery done there by one of the vets, it was such a mess that he didnt work there shortly after. My other small dog had tooth surgery done there, the vet assured me that they they will only pull out up to 6 teeth at at time...when I picked her up 19 teeth were removed, the vet didn't ever have the decency to come out and talk to us, and again she no longer works there! Really do your research when picking a vet!!!

My dog Archie had CCL knee surgery. He was well taken care of with great service by Dr Mogavero and the entire hospital staff team. We came from Toronto and it was well worth the 50 min drive.

I brought my 11 year old Burmese cat in around 2 weeks ago with some lethargy issues and had him checked out. After some preliminary x-rays and bloodwork he was prescribed some antibiotics and a cracked tooth was surmised as the source of infection. After two weeks on meds, he was well enough for a tooth extraction which was done on site with incredible care and speed. The best is the way the doctor made sure to charge for followup checkups as opposed to making it a pay as you go system, which I believe reduces stress and incentivises people to return and maintain pet health, as appointments are then covered and not subject to nebulous later fees. All the staff are friendly and clearly adore animals. I definitely recommed and will come back for regular checkups!

This vet is wildly expensive and you see someone different each time. Support staff are lovely though. More info: you gave my dog medication during a routine vaccination without my permission or advising me (another vet said it was a totally unnecessary anti-inflammatory). You charged $25 for a nail trim! Your practice and prices are indeed questionable.

We have been equally reassured and helped in our visits to both the King Street East and the Upper James locations. Their follow-up calls are evidence of their engagement in their work. I took my cat into due to him losing his hair. The Vet that came into the room was so unprofessional .And then after only 3 mins of examining him he said ( well he doesn't have fleas ) then walked out and never came back .Then the receptionist came and said ok these are the meds you will need .Then I was handed a bill for $300 dollars , needless to say I had to take him to another Veterinarian who diagnosed him having ringworm .To which the meds only cost me $60 dollars .He is doing so much better . Please if you are in need of a Vet , Do not take your fur baby to the Downtown Animal Hospital . They deserve more caring and respect than the vets are able to give . I recommend East Mountain Animal Hospital , they are fantastic .

The women I dealt with at this clinic were beyond amazing. From my initial call everyone was super professional and caring. I would 100% be comfortable for everyone other than the doctor to care for my cat again. Upon first meeting Dr. Michael Mogavero his demeanor was very cold. I went in for a heath check for my cat that will be travelling with me next month. I had done extensive research on both the Canadian and Mexican government sites as well as spoken to many people who have recently done the process. I explained I was having a hard time getting ahold of the CFIA, yet he inferred I was lying because he 'had spoken to them many times'. He ignored me and walked out while I was showing him the document I need to travel. After speaking with the CFIA twice, he was then faxed over the form that I had initially been trying to show him. At this point his disdain for me was evident but I decided to respect him as the expert in caring for my cat. My relationship with a vet doesn't matter as long as my cat is loved and treated with kindness, and I would hope the point of contention wouldn't impact the treatment of my cat. During her health check he told me her teeth were bad. Admittedly, I only take her to the vet for emergencies because she is super reactive in unknown environments and needs to be sedated for procedures. She was said to be in good health; other than her teeth. He brought me to the back where he used a tool to aggressively break off plaque from her teeth; my guess is to prove her teeth were bad even though I wasn't questioning his findings. She was sedated but he assured me that he wasn't breaking her teeth; the blood was normal and she wouldn't be in pain later. It should be noted that I did not ask for any dental work nor did I pay for any dental work. In fact, Dr. Michael Mogavero agreed that I should wait until we are in Mexico to get her dental work done. Eight hours after her sedation wore off her mouth was still agape, was still drooling, and she was hiding. Upon further inspection, her mouth was inflamed, and she was in extreme pain. I spoke with seven emergency and after-hour clinics who individually either said that the procedure he did was 'odd' or asked why she wasn't sent home with pain medication. Dr. Michael Mogavero did unnecessary harm to my cat. More than 24 hours later she is still in extreme pain. (I have an upcoming appointment at a trusted vet). Had I done a quick Google search of his name rather than of the clinic I would have taken her elsewhere. Side note: this was just one part of the uncomfortable dealings with this Doctor. I was there for an hour and a half and witnessed his rudeness and callousness toward other clients as well.
