This is one of the best clinics around. All the staff are wonderful, and all the vets are very different but wonderful in their own ways. I come all the way from guelph here because of the service and reasonable prices! My dog recently was in because he ate something he wasnt suppose to. Dr. Merry was fabulous and laid out my options in a clear straight forward manner, gave me her opinion on what she would do, but ultimately left all the decisions up to me. Cost vs benefit was always a discussion, which I also appreciated. I honestly cannot thank her and the staff enough for taking such good care of my boy!

Great experience - friendly and knowledgeable staff. I called them on a Sunday because my dog was exhibiting abnormal behaviour, with several alarming symptoms. We were given an appointment in 30 minutes from when we called. We waited an additional 15 minutes, but considering we were a walk-in, totally understandable. The vet was great, super professional and detailed with her diagnosis and explanation. I would definitely recommend this animal hospital for regular visits and definitely for emergency care.

Clinic is more expensive than others. We had been satisfied with the service until recently when I have paid approximately $1500 to have a cyst removed from my dogs foot. The surgical procedure caused complications and daily trips to the clinic for almost a week, only to find out that surgery may not have been required.

Mylo love's his vet! We did a lot of research before picking a vet. The reviews on Clappison were so helpful but what really did it for us was when we called, no one pressured us to come in before getting a breakdown of charges and fees and their hours work great for someone like myself who works from 8am to 5pm. I didn't need to take a day off to get my puppy looked at. The vet's are all loving and caring. They definitely care more about his well being then us, which is how it should be. No hidden fees after the fact, everything is upfront!

I am so happy with Clappison veterinariay hospital. They took my boy right away after my previous veterinarian suggested my dog may have cancer. I without hesitation made an appt to see Dr.Hamilton and the alarm bell was quickly terminated My boy is just fine .But will definently be keeping a close eye on his lump in his leg . Clsppusion had cytology test ran and felt that there wasn't enough evidence to diagnose cancer at this time .Dr.Hamilton exasperated his lump a second time and felt as though it would be fruitless to get a convulsive result therefore the decision was made to save my money and to monitor my beloved dog. We've been clients of Clappison A.H. for over 31 years. All I can say is few places improve with age but Clappison's has. We now have the best Vet. we've ever had since Dr. Longridge joined the team at Clappison; you'll never find a more patient person who really knows his stuff than this young Vet. Only thing I can suggest, and this goes for whoever you take your pets to, try and have some form of pet insurance. It would break my heart if they said to me, you pet needs this procedure to live, and it's $2000, and I couldn't afford to try and save his/her life! With pets living longer with the excellent care they can now receive old age problems are more and more common. This extra cost can also be cut with pet insurance. Trust me, I know, it's saved us well over $4000 in the past 4 years! Keep up the good work at Clappison A.H., you guys are the best.

I took my 11 yr old female Shih-tzu for an exam, as per my vet who makes house calls because, , she was not eating much and losing weight. I specifically told the Vet i was tight for cash, and i needed to keep the expenses as low as possible. He suggested an overnight (weekend) stay with iv fluid and antibiotics, and blood tests, for $700+, or the less expensive i feed the dog antibiotics, and get the blood tests done, and they report back to me Saturday, with the results, for about $300. I took option 2. The vet called on Saturday, to let me know the blood tests were inconclusive and suggested i bring the dog back in for further exams and X-rays. I opted for, i will continue the antibiotic treatment. On Monday MY vet called the hospital and got the results of the blood tests and booked an appointment to come and see my dog and i to discuss the options. It turns out the blood test CLEARLY showed that my dog was suffering from a failing liver, a condition known as "hypoalbuminemia" incurable, and fatal. We tried a last ditch effort of using a specific antibiotic for the liver as well as corn syrup, for low blood sugar(due to lack of food ingested), and pepto-bismal, for the diarrhea. We tried our hardest for a week to continues this maintenance, but my dog had no improvement. Sadly i had her put down yesterday. My beef here is ...WHY DID THE VET AT THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL WANT TO SUCK MORE MONEY OUT OF ME WHEN THE BLOOD TEST WAS NOT INCONCLUSIVE? THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL APPEARS TO BE IN IT FOR THE $$$$ NOT TO CURE AN INCURABLE PET, NEVER WILL I SUGGEST THEM OR VISIT THEM AGAIN. Why did they not suggest a change in antibiotic as my vet did? this animal hospital is no different than a funeral director sucking the cash out of you when you are at your saddest, most desperate moment in life just wanting to help your loved one, and taking advantage of your emotions , not the reality that clearly exists. the one star rating is more than they deserve

This is Jackpot. He was found as a stray but had too many health problems to be adopted out. He was less than 1 yr old and he had such a loving personality so I asked permission to take him home. He had a very large hernia that needed to be repaired but because of his other issues he was a very high anesthetic risk and it was almost impossible to intubate him to put him under a gas anesthetic. But the surgical team at Clappison was willing to try. Dr Hamilton, Kristin and Kristy (RVTs), and Aislin (ACA) were just amazing! They prepared in advance for any anesthetic emergency that might happen and Dr Hamilton was actually able to place an ET tube! Dr Hamilton worked fast and efficiently and the RVTs and ACA monitored him closely all during his surgery. He was recovered without incident and is now home and back into mischief. I can't overstate how impressed I was with the entire team's skill and care for my little Jack. Thank you so much Clappison!

They sell nutritious pet foods and supplements and also have emergency services! What's not to love about this one stop shop? And yes it's worth the drive to waterdown :)

I brought my dog Brody in to Clappison animal hospital with no knowledge about them or experience with them. I had called ahead to ask if they took emergencies and they were to friendly and helpful. When I got there they set someone to help me get my dog inside. They were quick to get us in and get things figured out. Within a matter of minutes we were on the right page of figuring out what was wrong with him. They weren’t out of the money and were very kind to keep me updated on what things would cost. They didn’t push me to just dump as much money in as they could get out of me like some places. They fast diagnosed what was wrong and explained in great detail what it was and what to expect. I had to finally put my 14 year old Chow to sleep and the staff was so compassionate and kind during the entire process. They also privately cremate for a fee so you can keep the ashes of your pet in an urn or a pine box with his name on it. Because of the costs of how much both were they were very helpful in allowing us to split the payments by like 3 weeks so we could afford to do it all and didn't give us any issues about it at all. They also sent us a card with his paw print in it for free which was totally not expected but such a heartwarming gift.

Having had dogs for over 30-years we've had our fair share of experiences with different vet clinics. I can honestly say that Clappison is a top notch animal hospital. They treat our beloved german shepherds as though they are their own. We've had the pleasure of dealing with all the vets at the clinic over that last 6-years and find them to be kind, considerate and very knowledgable. Dr. Williams is absolutley wonderful and has gone above and beyond the normal call of duty with her care and concern for our one shepherd with IBD. It's been a challenging last 7-months and she has always made herself available via in person, phone or email regardless of the time or day. The other staff at Clappison are wonderful and you can always guarantee that a friendly voice is there to answer your call and treat you as thou you are not just any client but a member of the Clappison family. There are several vet clinics closer to us however they do not even come close to Clappison and they are worth the drive! We would highly recommend this clinic to family and friends. You will not be disappointed!

Normally, Bertie and I have a pretty positive experience here. They are quick to accommodate and have great hours. One thing that is a challenge is that every time we have been in, in the previous two years, we haven’t seen the same vet. So, it is difficult to develop a trusting relationship. I find the manner of the vets inconsistent - never unpleasant but sometimes lacking something. Here is an example: Today at the clinic, I brought Bertie in for an eye exam because I believed she had a bacterial infection. They accommodated me in the morning for a 1pm appointment which was great. The reception was very friendly. However, when I got there, unfortunately the vet on call did not introduce himself when he came into the exam room. He was pleasant and patient with Bertie, who was very nervous about having a light shone into her eyes, etc. However, I felt like he was too persistent in trying to make her do something that was making her extremely anxious and, it seemed, for little benefit. He also wanted to check for scratches on her eye using flourscein, even after I told him the discharge and redness in her left eye had spread to both eyes in one day. He was not communicative. I was uncomfortable, not wanting to undermine but also wanting to advocate for my dog. In the end, she was prescribed eye drops for a bacterial infection. I was charged $80 for the exam, $35 for the flourscein, $46 for the drops plus tax. It was roughly $185 and the only real benefit were the eye drops. I understand that there is a standard of practice, and certain protocols that need to be followed, but when it is fee for service operation there are a few expectations I have as a client a) if there are exam costs associated with the visit they need to be communicated to the client beforehand and b) know when to stop... why are you holding my dog down forcefully to put flourscein and a light in her eye, when I have communicated the issue and the discharge and redness are evident? After this visit, I just felt taken advantage of and I honestly don’t feel good about going back. It is too bad because my impression to this point has been more positive than this. I realize vets need to make a living - and I don’t resent that. However, I felt like we were taken for as much money as they could get from us, and that doesn’t sit right. I hope that management reads this review, and takes my feedback into consideration. - Bertie’s Mom.

Wouldn’t take my little Henri anywhere else!!! I have been with this vet for a little over two years. I appreciate their commitment to quick appointment bookings, to their care during the appointment and their honest assessment and options and price ranges for services. I wouldn’t take my dog (frenchie) anywhere else. The staff are beyond friendly and professional. They take the time to make you feel valued and important. My dog goes to doggie daycare which has been a lifesaver! It’s not only affordable they do photo shoots during special times of the year and so racial gifts to and from your pets. Dr. Mary is the best !!! She took us right away without an appointment when Harley was very sick and called us the next day to see how he was doing. This place really cares about animals. I've been taking my dogs there for over 10 years now. Highly recommend them ????

Honestly I was a little apprehensive to go to a new vet (my usual vet couldn't get me in for quite awhile) but I am so glad I did! From the initial phone call to my pups appt, tests, surgery and his aftercare, everyone I have spoken to has been nothing short of amazing! Would give no stars if possible. Had a dying rabbit in need of euthanasia asap and was denied. She did not require an exam, she just needed help crossing the bridge. Any clinic who denies an animal in need and will allow to suffer will not be supported by me. There are no other clinics in the area open weekends who treat rabbits.

The vets and staff at the clinic, are just amazing. My pets have been patients at Clappison since 2006, Charlie my sheepdog, and currently Rodger my cat. I have never been kept waiting, as is the case at other clinics. Rodger appreciates not having to be in waiting with dogs and other cats. It is worth the drive to Clappison, with fees that make pet ownership more pleasant. Keep up the good work.!!!!!! Thank-you

We took our Rough Collie puppy Robbie there for neuter and hernia surgery, Unbelievable that they omitted to remove all of his stitches 10 days later, Many years of training to fail miserably on such a basic procedure, We would definitely not recommend anyone take their pet here, Always check their work, Do not assume as we did that everything has been completed as anticipated. Very disturbing and hugely disappointing.

I've been taking my Mastiffs here for years. My favorite vet for them is Chris. He's not even slightly bothered by their large size. Having worked with horses probably helps! I've had 30 Mastiffs (two separate litters+parents) in his care and they've all flourished. Spays, neuters, tail docking, cuts, scrapes, ear infections, growing pains...... I've gone through it all and this is my favorite clinic by far.
