They have excellent customer service and communication. They are often able to book us in for appointments promptly (depending on how busy they are). The students have been wonderful, and I normally have the same overseeing veterinarian who my dog adores. The lobby is gorgeous, and the rooms are kept very clean. I find the rates to be reasonable (especially with their health plan) and I like that if need be we have access to many different specialists in the same clinic.

We just got turned down form OVC even though we had a referral from our vet, our vet called OVC letting them know that we were on the way. We were told that they had no one that can see us and gave us no help or solutions, they did not even take the time to look at our 1year old piggy that is 500 grams and very anorexic, lethargic and not responive. And How is an animal hospital? Our Guinea pig is not well and may pass a way because we have to wait for to make an appointment in an emergency situation. We are in sorrows and very upset that we could not get care given to Cara. We are sad because she may pass away during the wait period. Our pig is not eating anything at all! Not even critical care. If it's true that OVC wants to preserve life then we would have gotten some help.

Possibly the best Animal Hospital in the country. As part of the Ontario Veterinary College it takes full advantage of the staff and resources available due to that affiliation. It is occasionally used for teaching, so be prepared for students to be potentially observing

The staff and doctors there are always kind, patient and nurturing. I trust them when my dogs are in their care. My dog was very sick when we got him and thanks to the ovc he is a healthy 2 year old pup with no complications. Thank you!

I bring my puppy here and hopefully my cat soon, and I absolutely LOVE the staff and all the students that are part of the appointments! We see Dr. Shannon and she is so lovely, but everyone there is great I hear. All the students are extremely knowledgeable and sweet. They will all be amazing vets that I would take my animals to with no hesitation! I love this place. Great prices, people, and state of the art facility with access to all things through the rest of the OVC.

This is definitely the best Vet in Guelph. You can get your presentations filled right here for your pets, and saves an additional trip to the drug store. All staff are attentive and pet lovers. They have a monthly program for your pets that can reduce overall costs. Prices are reasonable and you are helping veterinary students learn.

Everyone (I mean literally EVERY person on staff) was incredibly warm, caring, and friendly. You guys are doing a wonderful job! Wait time is never more than a few minutes. Technician gathers all the information regarding the appointment along with any other concerns to share. They explain the course of action and any associated costs before proceeding. Always very careful with my 4 cats. Very pleased that I started coming here!

We originally were referred to Smith Lane for water rehab for our large dog who had a hind end paralysis. (Which worked wonders and he was not only walking but running!) The care was so fabulous we transferred regular care for all of our dogs! The whole team is kind and patient, and they offer good information, and guidance for screening and care while ultimately being supportive of our choices for our dogs. Our pups are always happy to come for their visits! ????

My dog, Mac, recently had orthopedic surgery and was referred to Smith Lane Animal Hospital for rehabilitation. The staff, doctors and technicians at this clinic are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We are so pleased with the care we have received and Mac looks forward to his weekly physiotherapy sessions! They’re amazing! My dog had a leg infection and when we called they didn’t have any available spots but, they allowed us to drop him off and when they had a chance, they would check his leg for us. It only took a few hours and he was back home with the antibiotics he needed! They’re very responsive and check in a few days after to make sure your animal is doing well. We have been taking him here since he we got him and they have never disappointed us! We would recommend them to anyone in the area!!

This time was about our cat Oppi. He got blocked his urine system. OVC helped as an emergency and they helped a lot! The all cure was between OVC and St Francis Animal Clinic in Kitchener. Oppi is alive! Thank you!

A couple of my dogs with relatively complex medical needs have been patients of this clinic and I'm very happy with their work. They're kind and patient with my dogs. They're very knowledgeable and they explain things clearly to me. During the pandemic, we're doing curbside drop-offs and talking over the phone which is working very well and keeping everyone safe.

Have had our pup's teeth cleaned every couple of years at different vets and paid between $600-$1200 depending of number of extractions. In 2017 OVC Smith Lane charged $1878 for half her mouth and we were also quoted an additional $1000 to finish the cleaning. Bailey looked far more unwell after the procedure at this practice than any others. Perhaps as a teaching hospital procedures may take longer consequently increasing the price. Our poor Bailey :(

The service is good: the students are attentive and the vets we have seen are very nice and knowledgeable. The students go out of their way to explain the situation thoroughly and competently. All the technicians have been excellent and caring. One of the reasons we go here is because they do not charge taxes which is a huge plus for us because the insurance does not cover it so it ends up being less out of pocket for us. One thing I do not like so much is that they do try to push some products on you. Every time I leave there, I do so with a few pamphlets. They are not aggressive with it, but will offer something every time.
