The staff here are a cut above other places I've been. From the treats they offer to the bathing centre for the animals, this facility is great. I feel confident when I bring my animal here. On a slightly different note, my dog used to feel apprehensive at the place we went before this. He doesn't seem to pickup any bad vibes when coming here.

A money grab. Do not sign up for their annual plans. They just steal people's money. They told us we have a year to use our vaccine plans and my plan expires towards the end of January and they refuse to honor the services offered because I didn't want to book at the time due to COVID and I didn't want my pet to have all the vaccines at once they promote themselves as a holistic vet clinic but if coukdnt be further from the truth. All they do is fleece people especially during these difficult times.

The only thing i can say good was they were friendly while they made me surrender my best friend. My dog needed surgry asap to live and they wouldn't help me with a payment plan. My dog was non stop bleeding so i didn't feel i had time to look at other vets. They told me i had to surrender her to save her life so i had no choice. Now i can't have any information even if she lived or what. They are greedy and heartless people and this was so so wrong. I am a single father rasing my small son on my own and all we had in the world was that dog and because this places wanted money fast my son couldn't even say goodbye. absolutely despicable place to bring your animal. i hope they feel our pain like this someday!!!!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Clean comfortable and home atmosphere. I recently adopted a new member of my family and she needed a full work up. My new girl, angel was quite nervous but using soothing tones and a lot of mats we got her in a room. To avoid any further stress we stayed in one room and did all her shots and even a little nail clipping completely on the ground. Yes they are a bit pricey but using their benefit package worked quite well for me. They spent the time with angel and got to know her. Gave us a lot of information about some issues and answered all my worries and concerns. Thank you!

They have several great veterinarians who really care about their patients and clients. Drs Fleming, Smolkin, Rosenfeld, and Butler) The front office staff are always helpful and friendly (Angela & Tara specifically). They always show they care right away, and throughout the visit. They put the pets comfort first.

Thanks to Guelph Animal Hospital and Dr. Butler, Frosty the white longcoat Chihuahua celebrated her 15th birthday this past December. Molly, my tricoloured shortcoat Chihuahua turns 14 at the end of this month. Despite both of them having heart disease, they are doing well and I cannot thank GAH enough. Special mention to Dr. Fleming for providing her time and knowledge through a virtual consult for my black moor goldfish! We love this practice because the support staff are welcoming and kind, the veterinarians have excellent beside manner and knowledge, and best of all they cater to multiple pet species! My 4-month-old kitten, adult cat and dog have all been to this establishment multiple times and I have always had a great experience. We were never overcharged, in fact they go out of their way to make their prices as reasonable as possible, never doing or recommending anything that wasn’t important for our pet. I can't say enough good things about the team here, especially Drs Fleming, Smolkin and De Pass (and of course Sadie, Katie, Jen and all the other vet techs).. I have an anxious Rottie who is not an easy patient, but they are so loving and kind with him during exams and procedures it makes my heart melt. I always feel well informed and that my choices about my dog's treatment are respected and understood. They also submit claims to Trupanion on patients' behalf so, although you have to pay upfront, everything on the back end is taken care of! Even though my boy HATES being examined, he gets excited when he sees his muzzle and always drags me into the clinic in anticipation of cuddles and treats from the staff - he LOVES it here (mostly)!

I recently had an emergency with my rabbit. I tried so many vets and this one was the only one open. I drove from barrie with the intention that my bunny's life would no longer be saved. They were so nice and welcoming, they helped my rabbit immediately and got him the proper medicine needed. Dr. Brown was very thorough and honest throughout the check up.

Today I brought my Guinea Pigs in to check out something I noticed on their paws. I initially dreaded the inevitable bill because they are exotic animals and the problem was probably nothing to worry about. I bit the bullet and braced for the worst. Well, it turned out that the problem was indeed nothing serious and I was left shocked when the vet said I did not need to pay for my visit. I couldn't believe it. Just to add a little touch of class, a receptionist came from her desk and held the door open for me when I was leaving. She also offered to help load the guinea pigs in my car. I am super satisfied with my visit.

I've been traveling to Guelph to go to this vet clinic for years now because I value their friendliness, open mindedness, and the fact that they don't judge the decisions I make on how I want to treat my dogs. I've been to too many vets that are stuck in their ways of thinking and won't consider that there could be alternative methods of treating something.

I called to get a sedative for travel for my cat and they quoted a "standard" charge of $85 for a basic exam. Which includes a quick touch and feel for lumps and bumps. A quick listen to heart and lungs look in the ears mouth and weight. Rediculous as my regular vet would charge $40 at most for this and have in the past waived this charge if there was no further meds needed. After this charge I then would have to pay for the medication. One trip to get a basic sedative would probably have cost me upwards of $200. Not a place I would like to throw my money away.

The staff at GAH are hands down, the most knowledgeable and friendly veterinarians in town. You feel welcomed the moment you walk into their beautiful practice, with the friendly staff at front. The techs and vet spend time getting to know your pet, and treating them like their own. I transferred to their clinic after our previous vet couldn’t address a reoccurring health issue for our dog, and after one visit at GAH she is back to normal and thriving. They also have some hollistic treatment options, which I appreciate having available to me. If you are looking for a friendly, amazing and knowledgeable place to care for your animals look no further!

It is going to be one year anniversary this January, 2020 since I've lost my precious King Simba; a 16 year old Birman Cat. It was during the most difficult time, just months prior to his passing when we met (for the first time) Dr. Butler who was an absolute God sent to my family. Everyone at the hospital has been above and beyond my level of expectation in the way they carried themselves during such a difficult and emotionally charged period of time... Actions speak louder than words and Guelph Animal Hospital certainly provided 5 star service in every area imaginable. I cannot thank them enough for the heart warming memories during a very sad time in my life. It is thanks to Dr. Butler and his honest and raw advice that I needed to hear at that time in order to accept what was coming... Also, it is because of his Holistic expertise I got to spend more good quality time with Simba than anyone ever anticipated! I am forever grateful and thankful. This time of year brings those memories back and the loss of my furry child... However, it is because of the way Guelph Animal Hospital staff honoured Simba's passing that made that transition of separation that much more personal and caring ... a certain way that will stay with me forever. I once worked in the industry which called for outmost care in delivery of service and I know what it takes to complete the task, no matter how simple or challenging it may appear to be... for the very first time in my life, I've experienced the level of client care (animal love) and service to others the way I used to deliver it in my previous career. I'd like to add, any negative comments written by other visitors are relative to their own experience. They probably were given advice they did not like to hear because of their own ego problems. I alway say, look at who is talking to you and then listen to what they are telling you. Meaning who is the audience? Are they worth your time and oxygen you share and breath? There are a lot of people out there who do not care for themselves let alone their furry babies. Perhaps they should change they way the look at things and then the things they look at will change... They cured my dog's skin condition with a well designed nutritional plan. My dog was having an auto-immune reaction to his previous high quality kibble. GAH offered two avenues. One, put him on meds for the rest of his life, or two, prepare his food by hand with a specific raw food recipe they created for us. We really believe in the power of excellent nutrition so we chose the hand-made food option and his condition cleared right up. It's a bit more work and money but it's really paying off in quality of life and fewer medical bills. Our dogs have beautiful coats, great energy, strong immune systems, good bones and joints and muscles, good weight control. The vets really care about giving our dogs the best long-term and sustainable health.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. However, ridiculously expensive. Also, aggressive sales tactics - want you to buy a $270 package right off the hop, and if you don't, things get pricey fast. Expect to pay a minimum of $95 for an annual exam that includes no more than temperature, a quick feel, and a heartbeat listen. Disappointed, and broke!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Guelph Animal Hospital! My dog loves going because they treat her so well and are so caring. She recently got sick, and the vet who we took her in to see noticed some very small neurological symptoms, which ended up being a serious condition which would have gotten worse if untreated. The entire staff has been so thorough and patient through the whole process, taking us in emergencies, explaining next steps, calling to check in — and thanks to them, our dog is feeling so much better! Very friendly and courteous staff however we ended up leaving. From our experience it seemed the Hospital was way more interested in profit opposed to helping animals. They charge for absolutely everything and the packages they sell do not save any money. They are a profit before pets outfit, which is unfortunate because there are a lot of nice people who work there. 1 horrible Doc, can't remember his name, he only works on the weekends, awful bedside manner. Bottom line there are a lot of good options for your pet in Guelph, check around if you are new to the area. If you are a customer of GAH, get a second opinion on any major procedures they recommend.

They’re not the cheapest vet, but they care and give fantastic care and advice! I’ve never met another vet more down to earth (all the vets at this clinic are awesome). I love how they get down on the floor with my dog - I know he would hate being forced to stand on the exam table, but they’ve never even tried to make him do that. I know if makes their job more difficult but I appreciate that my dog drags me into the vets office rather than trying to drag me away!

I originally left a 2 star review before my visit as an accident. I had a slow internet connection and was only trying to get directions. My visit was good. They made my cat Marcus feel comfortable with a warm blanket and soothing sounds in the exam room while waiting for the vet. He was calm with the vet, which means alot as he can be quite grumpy with some. The visit was only for a second opinion about a tumor, and I did receive some solid advice.

Best vet clinic in town or anywhere! The staff are welcoming, caring & supportive. They've helped us through some scary times, some good times & some sad times. But each time has been with love, compassion, respect & dignity. When we had to make the decision to put our daughters therapy cat and best friend down, they were incredible. They explained things to me and when my husband and daughter got there, they explained it to her as well. They allowed her the time to ask questions about what was best. They treat her like a young woman and not a kid. We've had to put down 2 animals with them. Both times during the pandemic. They made it possible for us to say goodbye, didn't rush our time doing so & had the most respect you could imagine. My daughter spent a good 30-45 minutes with her cat and they didn't blink an eye. We have not had a single bad experience with them. They are an incredible clinic. If you're fortunate enough to know any of the staff or work with them for your animals health and well being, you are truly blessed!

Usually very good - but it can depend what vet you see. We have 4 pets and bring them in for their annual checkups 2 at a time. It would be nice if they read the comments from the previous visit for all of the pets, instead of just the ones we have with us at the time. It is also quite frustrating that the same cat that was "the perfect weight" on the last visit and has since lost a very slight amount of weight was deemed "above the ideal weight" this visit. If she lost weight how is she now overweight when she was ideal before?? Also received the comment that we should keep an eye on our dog's weight when he is currently the ideal weight, simply because he gained about 4 lbs in the last year - which is normal considering he just came out of being a puppy and only recently would be considered fully grown. Next time we will request our preferred vet - Dr. Ilana Smolkin is great. Having different vets give us different information is very frustrating and just looks bad.

Amazing staff! Went in yesterday with my dog that was having bum issues. We had gone to a previous vet and didnt feel they could help us so we went here. They were SO personable, SO friendly and had SO much information. They put my dog under so she wasn't in pain and she was out in less than 3 hours. They told us what our other vet couldn't. And what was 99% the problem with her. It will probably be a life long issue, but now we know how to deal with it. Every Doctor we talked to was so compassionate and caring. It blew me away. I would reccomend going here to anyone who asks. The only downside was the price. Quite pricey, but with the quality of our service I wasnt too upset. If you want something done right. Pay the price! This Animal Hospital wanted to charge me $750 to have my kitten fixed and his first shots. I found a clinic in cambridge that will do it for just over $200. If you want to be taken advantage of. Call this vet. It's almost criminal. Anyone who works here, should be ashamed of themselves.

Be careful! If you don't come for follow up they call the HUMANE SOCIETY! pure business making hole! Ps. Your records were all wrong. If you truly were concerned about our fur baby you would have called to see how our baby is doing and see if maybe rescheduling an appt would be appropriate. Instead of calling us ..ypu called SPCA! They treat your animal as if it is one of there own . charley had problems urinating i had no appointment with them at the time . i rushed him to there hospital in guelph within minutes he was seen and taken care of . found out later he had a blocked urinary tract caused from gall stones . they got the blockage open and relieved the pressure .there is no doubt that they saved his life . they went beyond there duty to save him . he went for surgery next day as you know surgery was not cheap .i was able to work a payment plan with them . thanks to guelph animal charley is still here and healthy as ever .

Wonderful experience here. My husband's and I have had to say goodbye to 3 of our rats in the last year and a half, one we lost at home and two were euthanized here. The staff is very sweet, and the small animal specialist was absolutely wonderful with our girls, making their passing a more peaceful, bittersweet experience.

I can't say enough good about Guelph Animal Hospital. We came to Guelph in September 2019 and found GAH as a result of a referral from West Brant Animal Clinic. We brought three dogs along for the ride, our 11 year old German Shepherd, a 3 year old pug and a 3 year old golden retriever. The staff was amazing with each of them! Unfortunately, our Shepherd passed away in her sleep in our home while we were away and being looked after by our son. GAH staff were so very helpful, kind and considerate assisting him with her following her death. They even kept her for us until we returned so that we could say goodbye (without fees of any kind). They were very respectful and compassionate. They even went far above and beyond and purchased back some unused medications that we had gotten from them for her just prior to her death. I don’t know about these other reviewers, but our experience was amazing! I've had dogs for 50 years and rarely have I come across this mix of professionalism. care and attention. Thank you Guelph Animal Hospital! I highly recommend!

I have taken my Golden Retrievers to Guelph Animal Hospital since the mid 90s starting with Harley and most recently with Gibson. I have even been travelling from Hamilton to Guelph over the last 10 years in order to ensure that my dogs get the best care possible and that is only available at GAH based on my experience with some vet clinics here in Hamilton. Their compassion for Harley, a cancer survivor who had to have one front leg amputated, and Gibson, a love-sponge who left us way too early, has demonstrated to me the importance of finding a vet who is a leader in their field. Dr. Butler is our favourite but all of the vets are superb because they attend training courses, educational seminars, and product seminars in order to ensure that they can provide exactly the care that you and your pet deserve. I have always chosen traditional veterinary medicine for my dogs but GAH also provides homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, acupuncture and more for those that may be interested. Their clinic offers in-stock specialty foods, supplements, grooming aids, toys, accessories and more at reasonable prices. All of the staff at GAH are friendly and truly love your pets like their own. The vets are so friendly and helpful. They have been helping out dog lose weight over a series of months and each monthly check in has been complimentary. They offer a very nice boutique with an ample selection of vet recommended foods and accessories. Be sure to watch out for the occasional sales on these items as it really saves money.

Best vet service we have ever had in the entire city of Guelph & many other cities. Friendly staff, welcoming, helpful & dedicated. We had an emergency situation with my daughter's cat and they got us in within an hour, treated him and called to check in on repeat! Beautiful place, calming environment and our cat was content while there! Hands down the ONLY vet you'll EVER need!

My cat experienced a very bad break on a Sunday night and we were in every day throughout the week for x-rays, medicine, surgery and back again to get an e-collar. The staff and Dr. Smolkin were so helpful and caring. They knew both Nimoy and I by name and were very reassuring to the both of us through this hard time. They were able to answer all of my questions and were so good at checking in after the surgery. It was a very hard time for my family and Guelph Animal Hospital made it as easy and smooth as could be.

My family and I had a very hard decision to make when it came to the well-being of our fur baby Abby. The staff and vet we’re very kind ,gentle and caring.They were so compassionate, and it made the process easier on our hearts. I believe they go above and beyond for ourselves and our animals. It was very touching to receive a sympathy card in the mail from the hospital regarding Abby and I thank you for that. We had Her cremated and when I went to pick up her ashes they were in a beautiful package, we also had her paw print done as well which is really nice for each of the kids to have for themselves forever. If your new to the Guelph area or looking for a new Vet Clinic- this place is NOT the one. The inconsistency with the Doctor to patient care is so terrible. We were yo yoed back and forth with medical instruction between reception staff and Doctors. When we finally got frustrated enough to ask to just speak to a Doctor we were told that “ they are a very busy clinic and the Doctor might not be able to get back to us until maybe today, tomorrow or who knows when. That’s why we have reception staff, to speak with patients”. I was blown away... we’ve been struggling with our cats medical condition for over a month with this Vet clinic and that’s the response we got. Very unpleased and would never recommend it to anyone else.

3 days to get a prescription filled. Absolutely unacceptable half of the job of a veteranary clinic is supplying prescriptions, if you guys can't even efficiently give out prescriptions what am I supposed to assume from the effectiveness of your veterinarians. Definitely wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone. And if you're looking for a prescription from a referral or whatever I suggest you look for a different clinic if you want it on time and all the pills you requested to be there.
